Abstract:
Yn y traethawd hwn trafodir y newidiadau a ddigwyddodd ym mywyd inewnol ac yn ethos y pedwar corff Ymneilltuol yng Nghynlru rhwng 1840 a 1870. Y thesis y ceisir ei ddatblygu yw fod y newidiadau hyn o dipyn i bath wedi eu gweddnewid. Yng nhorff y traethawd fe wneir defnydd o dermau a theorlau'r cymdeithasegwyr sydd weds astudio crefydd and nid heb geisio ystyried yn feirniadol i ba raddau y gellir gwneud defnydd dilys ohonynt yng nghyd-destun hanes crefydd yng Nghymru. Ymddengys fod eu diffiniadau o 'sect' ac 'enwad' yn gynorthwyol. Felly canolbwyntir ar fywyd mewnol y Cyrff crefyddol. Dadansoddir eu hymarweddiad a'u hegwyddorion fei cymdeithasau Cristnogol yn hytrach na'u gweithgareddau allanol, cymdeithasol a gwleidyddol. Gan hynny, yn ystod y drafodaeth, astudir yn ofalus eu hagwedd at eu harwahanrwydd, at y ddisgyblaeth eglwysig, at y 'ddyletswydd deuluaidd', at ymddygiad wrth addoli, at anffurfioldeb, at bregethu, at y Fugeiliaeth, at addysg, at berthynas gyda chyrff cýrjfyddol eraill, at ddiwygiadau, at gynllun a phensaerniaeth capeli ac Pt gyfundrefnu. Wrth dafoli arwyddoc&d y cyfnewidiadau, daw'n eglur sut yr oedd y cyrff Ymneilltuol yn eu haddasu eu hunain i gyfarfod her cyfnod cynhyrfus yn hanes Cymru. Daethant o dipyn i beth yn enwadau a deimlai gyfrifoldeb tuag at y byd seciwiar a thuag at y genedl. Bu i'r newid o sectyddiaeth i enwadyddiaeth esgor ar ganlyniadau yr oedd eu dylawad i'w gweld ymhell i'r ugeinfed ganrif. Proses graddol a chymleth oedd hwn yn dylanwadu ar bob agwedd ar fywyd mewnol y Cyrff and y ddadl yw fod y newid mwyaf arwyddocaol wedi digwydd rhwng 1840 a 1870.

Abstract:

Fritänkarrörelsen, som den gestaltade sig under 1800-talets två sista decennier, är i den mån man kan tala om den som en egen rörelse relativt outforskad som sin egen helhet. Förutom några få undantag finns i första hand biografier över några av de ledande personerna inom fritänkarrörelsen, framför allt om de personer som var delaktiga i skapandet av de många stora folkrörelser som såg dagens ljus under denna tid. Folkrörelserna och ideologierna har i sina historieskildringar tagit med fritänkarna som en del av sitt ursprung. Det som kan saknas är en översiktlig genomgång av de gemensamma tankar och idéer som var centrala för dem som kallade sig själva fritänkare. Även om denna uppsats i sig inte i första hand är ett begreppsanalytiskt arbete så består en del av undersökningen av ett utredande av begrepp, översiktlig beskrivning av de olika grupperna inom fritänkeriet och dess idéinnehåll samt presentation av några av de mest tongivande agitatorerna. Många av dessa agitatorer blev aktivt motarbetade av samhället och åtalen för hädelse mot såväl kyrkan som staten var vanligt förekommande. Det hörde inte till ovanligheten att åtalen resulterade i fängelsestraff för dessa tankefrihetens förkämpar. Vad var då fritänkarnas farliga budskap och idéer som skulle komma att påverka historiens gång?

La thèse consiste en un commentaire détaillé d'un texte de Carl-Gustav Jung, les Sept sermons aux morts (Septem sermones ad mortuos, 1916). On se propose de montrer que ce texte bref (vingt pages) renferme in nuce tous les thèmes fondamentaux de l'œuvre psychologique ultérieure de Jung, et se révèle ainsi capital pour l'étude de la genèse de sa pensée. Dans le texte sont également discernables les traces des sources et influences diverses qui devaient marquer Jung tout au long de son activité de chercheur, en particulier des éléments issus des religions et des pensées orientales (Inde, Chine) ainsi que d'autres provenant des courants ésotériques occidentaux, que l'on a choisi de ramasser sous l'appellation de pensée traditionnelle. Il s'agit de montrer de quelle manière ces affinités structurent la pensée jungienne toute entière et participent à l'élaboration des notions essentielles de sa psychologie et de sa vision du monde. This thesis consists of a detailed commentary on a text by Carl-Gustav Jung, the seven sermons to the dead (Septem sermones ad mortuos, 1916). We suggest that this short text of twenty pages includes in a nutshell all the fundamental themes of Jung’s later work and is thus seen to be essential to the study of his philosophy. In the text can also be found traces of diverse sources and influences which were to leave an impression on Jung throughout his career, particularly those elements which came from eastern religion and philosophy (India and China) and those which emerged from esoteric trends in the west which have been placed under the heading of traditional philosophy. We wish to demonstrate how these affinities provide a framework for Jung’s whole philosophy and contribute to the building of essential ideas in his vision of the world. This thesis consequently covers the whole of Jung’s work

Abstract:
José Maria Sert, peintre catalan, issu de la bourgeoisie industrielle de la Barcelone de fin de siècle. De formation artisanale, il considère les décorations murales comme la plus haute représentation artistique picturale, bien au-delà de la peinture de chevalet. Dans la tradition des grands maîtres italiens du passé, dont il s'inspire, il est le peintre décorateur le plus important de son temps. Installé à Paris depuis 1899, il décora les salons de la haute société de son époque. Mais sa production la plus importante demeure pourtant une commande publique, non seulement laïque, mais surtout religieuse, dont l'oeuvre majeure est la décoration murale de la cathédrale de Vich. Bien qu'il ne fut pas lié avec l'Avant-Garde de première file, ses relations appartiennent toujours aux milieux les plus distingués de la culture européenne : Proust, Gide, Colette, Valéry, Diaghilev, Cocteau, Stravinsky, Dali, ou même Picasso. De la main de sa première femme, Misia Sert, il s'introduit dans les salons les plus distingués de la Belle Epoque, et sa propriété d'été, le Mas Juny, fut l'un des lieux de rendez-vous obligé des années trente. Sert établit avec la plupart d'entre eux une correspondance plus ou moins constante et entama dans certains cas des collaborations artistiques de différente importance. Bon nombre de ces projets virent le jour -il fut d'ailleurs le premier artiste non russe à collaborer avec les Ballets russes, en trois occasions -et bien d'autres ne purent se matérialiser- Claudel, Gide,Valéry et même le musicien Manuel de Falla partagèrent des projets avec l'artiste catalan. Aussi bien les uns comme les autres, tout comme sa correspondance, illustrent parfaitement les relations qui lient tous ces intellectuels et leurs échanges culturels. This paper will study the effects of airline alliances on the economic welfare of passengers and airlines by studying how membership in an airline alliance affects ticket price, revenue passenger miles, and available seat utilization. This paper will analyze three sets of data from the US Department of Transportation, including the DB1BTicket Report, the T-100 International Segment Report, and the T1: US Air Carrier Traffic and Capacity Summary by Service Class. The purpose of this paper is to determine how airline alliances effect consumer welfare. The results show that airline alliances lead to higher fares on domestic routes as well as greater passenger revenue miles and available seat utilization. This paper shows that more anti-trust investigation should be taking place regarding airline alliances

Abstract:
Under slutet av 1800-talet publicerades tidningen Svenska familj-journalen i flera årgångar som en tidning menad att läsas av hela familjen som underhållning. Ett inslag i tidningen var berättelser om främmande länder och folkslag. Skribenterna beskrev en exotisk och sensationell värld utanför Sverige i sina artiklar och för många i läsarkretsen var detta deras enda kontakt med omvärlden. På ett sätt kan man säga att världen hälsade på hos läsarna istället för tvärtom. Det är dessa artiklar om andra nationaliteter jag har undersökt i min kandidatuppsats. Undersökningen granskar artiklar som innehåller framställningar av främmande folkslag utanför och inom Europa samt samer. Studien baseras på Saids teori om Orientalism och Foucaults diskursteori samt tidgare forskning kring svensk identitet och rasrepresentationer. Syftet med undersökningen är att granska den svenska självbilden under slutet av 1800-talet genom att undersöka rasrepresentationer i tidningen Svenska familj-journalen under åren 1864-1881. Min undersökning demonstrerar att den svenska självbilden genomgick förändring och dessutom var relativt splittrad under 1800-talet.

Aquesta investigació té com a objecte principal formular un primer estudi sobre els òrgans que van composar l’Administració carlina catalana durant la Guerra dels Set Anys (1833-1840). Ara bé, aquest objecte pressuposa inevitablement una formulació intricada per la qual cosa, per a la present tesi doctoral, s’ha procurat capgirar els plantejaments d’anàlisi historiogràfic vigents, prendre distància dels apriorismes que poguessin condicionar l’objecte d’anàlisi i el seu context, és a dir, s’ha fet necessari reconstruir teories per les quals poder establir noves preguntes i anàlisis. Igualment, s’ha procurat establir paral·lelismes entre les trajectòries vitals dels seus protagonistes i les institucions estudiades, així com noves hipòtesis de treball que permetin noves vies documentables d’estudi. Per poder delimitar, i verificar, l’existència d’una administració pública carlina s’ha pres com a punt de partida tres conceptes: el propi d’administració pública, el de dret administratiu; i el de la ciència del dret administratiu. D’acord amb aquestes tres disciplines, es pot afirmar que l’existència d’una administració implica necessàriament la presència d’una organització dotada d’un personal i uns recursos econòmics, i d’una activitat, articulada en fases –procediment– i actes administratius –resolucions–. Amb tot, existeix un element important que determina la resta: les funcions. Qualsevol organisme d’una administració es crea –i actua– per oferir un servei d’interès per al públic. I per a l’execució d’aquests serveis, s’articulen unitats administratives a les quals es vincula un personal especialitzat que gaudeix d’un pressupost per a l’execució del servei encomanat. En resum, es pot afirmar que una administració es compon d’unes funcions, les quals s’articulen a través d’unitats administratives que gaudeixen de poder. Aquestes unitats tenen assignats un personal i uns mitjans pecuniaris, a la vegada que estan regulades per un procediment determinat del qual en resulten els actes administratius. L’estudi de l’Administració carlina a Catalunya suposa un plantejament innovador i, alhora, complex, per la qual cosa ha estat indispensable fixar els límits d’aquest objecte i seguir l’exemple d’altres treballs centrats en l’orgànica institucional isabelina i la seva Administració. Pel que fa als estudis sobre l’Administració isabelina, cal dir que esdevenen un clar exemple de partida ja que plantegen l’acció de l’Estat i com aquesta es concreta en el desplegament dels diferents serveis públics per tot el territori, contribuint a la progressiva articulació i cohesió de la comunitat política. L’eix discursiu d’aquesta investigació és «l’organització» del bàndol carlí en la seva vessant més institucional, aquella que comprèn la descripció i anàlisi de les seves estructures o aparell administratiu en aspectes concrets. Per tant, l’objecte principal d’aquesta tesi doctoral és introduir-se en l’orgànica de l’Administració carlina, és a dir, en els òrgans de govern i llurs funcions. Aquest plantejament intenta apropar-se a «l’anàlisi jurídic i la conducta cultural» del conjunt humà que s’estudia, en definitiva situant el carlisme a la seva «jurisdicció i del [seu] sistema cultural» en tant que són la base de «l’estructura de les relacions socials».
Esta investigación tiene como objeto principal formular un primer estudio sobre los órganos que compusieron la Administración carlista catalana durante la Guerra de los Siete Años (1.833-1.840). Ahora bien, este objeto presupone inevitablemente una formulación intrincada por lo que, para la presente tesis doctoral, se ha procurado cambiar los planteamientos de análisis historiográfico vigentes, tomar distancia de los apriorismos que pudieran condicionar el objeto de análisis y el su contexto, es decir, se ha hecho necesario reconstruir teorías por las que poder establecer nuevas preguntas y análisis. Igualmente, se ha procurado establecer paralelismos entre las trayectorias vitales de sus protagonistas y las instituciones estudiadas, así como nuevas hipótesis de trabajo que permitan nuevas vías documentables de estudio. Para poder delimitar, y verificar, la existencia de una administración pública carlista se ha tomado como punto de partida tres conceptos: el propio de administración pública, el de derecho administrativo; y el de la ciencia del derecho administrativo. De acuerdo con estas tres disciplinas, se puede afirmar que la existencia de una administración implica necesariamente la presencia de una organización dotada de un personal y unos recursos económicos, y de una actividad, articulada en fases -procedimiento- y actos administrativos -resoluciones-. Con todo, existe un elemento importante que determina el resto: las funciones. Cualquier organismo de una administración se crea -y actuaciones para ofrecer un servicio de interés para el público. Y para la ejecución de estos servicios, se articulan unidades administrativas a las que se vincula un personal especializado que goza de un presupuesto para la ejecución del servicio encomendado. En resumen, se puede afirmar que una administración se compone de unas funciones, las cuales se articulan a través de unidades administrativas que gozan de poder. Estas unidades tienen asignados un personal y unos medios pecuniarios, a la vez que están reguladas por un procedimiento determinado del que resultan los actos administrativos. El estudio de la Administración carlista en Cataluña supone un planteamiento innovador y, a la vez, complejo, por lo que ha sido indispensable fijar los límites de este objeto y seguir el ejemplo de otros trabajos centrados en la orgánica institucional isabelina y su Administración. En cuanto a los estudios sobre la Administración isabelina, hay que decir que son un claro ejemplo de partida ya que plantean la acción del Estado y como ésta se concreta en el desarrollo de los diferentes servicios públicos por todo el territorio, contribuyendo a la progresiva articulación y cohesión de la comunidad política. El eje discursivo de esta investigación es «la organización» del bando carlista en su vertiente más institucional, aquella que comprende la descripción y análisis de sus estructuras o aparato administrativo en aspectos concretos. Por tanto, el objeto principal de esta tesis doctoral es introducirse en la orgánica de la Administración carlista, es decir, en los órganos de gobierno y sus funciones. Este planteamiento intenta acercarse a «el análisis jurídico y la conducta cultural» del conjunto humano que se estudia, en definitiva situando el carlismo a su «jurisdicción y del [su] sistema cultural» en tanto que son la base de «la estructura de las relaciones sociales».
The main objective of this research is to formulate a first study on the organs that made up the Catalan Carlist Administration during the Seven Years' War (1833-1.840). However, this object inevitably presupposes an intricate formulation so that, for the present doctoral thesis, it has been attempted to change the current historiographic analysis approaches, to take distance from the priors that could condition the object of analysis and its context, that is to say , it has become necessary to reconstruct theories by which to establish new questions and analysis. Likewise, attempts have been made to draw parallels between the vital trajectories of their protagonists and the institutions studied, as well as new working hypotheses that allow new documentable ways of study. In order to define, and verify, the existence of a Carlist public administration, three concepts have been taken as a starting point: that of public administration, that of administrative law; and that of the science of administrative law. According to these three disciplines, it can be affirmed that the existence of an administration necessarily implies the presence of an organization endowed with personnel and economic resources, and an activity, articulated in phases -procedure- and administrative acts -resolutions-. However, there is an important element that determines the rest: the functions. Any agency of an administration is created - and actions to offer a service of interest to the public. And for the execution of these services, administrative units are articulated to which a specialized staff is linked that enjoys a budget for the execution of the entrusted service. In summary, it can be affirmed that an administration is composed of some functions, which are articulated through administrative units that enjoy power. These units are assigned a personal and financial resources, while they are regulated by a specific procedure resulting from administrative acts. The study of the Carlist Administration in Catalonia is an innovative and, at the same time, complex approach, so it has been essential to set the limits of this object and follow the example of other works focused on the Elizabethan institutional organization and its Administration. As for the studies on the Elizabethan Administration, it must be said that they are a clear example of departure since they raise the action of the State and how this is specified in the development of the different public services throughout the territory, contributing to the progressive articulation and cohesion of the political community. The discursive axis of this investigation is "the organization" of the Carlist side in its most institutional aspect, that which includes the description and analysis of its structures or administrative apparatus in concrete aspects. Therefore, the main purpose of this doctoral thesis is to enter the organic of the Carlist Administration, that is, in the governing bodies and their functions. This approach tries to approach "the legal analysis and cultural behavior" of the human group under study, ultimately placing Carlism in its "jurisdiction and [its] cultural system" while being the basis of "the structure of the social relationships".

Paul's predication of the term 'hilasterion' of Jesus combined with his mention of Jesus' own blood leads modern interpreters to speculate that 'hilasterion' was a term that could denote a sacrificial victim-hence: "whom God put forward as a 'sacrifice of atonement' by his blood" (Rom 3:25, NRSV). But this is unsupported by the Greek sources. This dissertation examines all the known occurrences of 'hilasterion' outside biblical and Byzantine Christian sources, of which there are about eight-half of them new to this study. All can be glossed by "(sc. 'anathema) propitiatory gift or offering'" (LSJ). Since 'hilasterion' never designates a sacrificial victim, the NRSV lacks support. Its meaning would rather be expressed by 'hon prosenengken' (not: proetheto) 'ho theos hilasterion thusian' (cf. P. Fay. 337). The tendency to parallel Rom 3:25 and 4 Mace 17:22 (codex S) is also misguided. Obviously the phrase 'to hilasterion tou thanatou autwn' (referring to the martyrs) cannot mean "the victim of their death." The background is rather to be sought in the normal Greek practice of offering durable propitiatory gifts (not victims) to the deity-hence: "their death as a 'propitiatory votive offering'." Paul's use of 'hilasterion' is rooted not in the Greek but in the biblical world. Here 'hilasterion' refers most famously to the "mercy seat," the golden plate with the cherubim above Israel's ark of the covenant. Philo saw the mercy seat as "a symbol of the gracious power of God" (Mos. 2.96; cf. Fug. 100). Paul applies this symbolism to Jesus because it makes him the centre not only of 'atonement' for sin (Leviticus 16) but of the 'revelation' of God (Exod 25:22; Lev 16:2; Num 7:89). The terms 'dikaiow' and 'apolutrwsis' in Rom 3:24 pick up the language of the exodus (esp. Exod 15: 13) and enable Paul to present Jesus as the centre of the ideal sanctuary (cf. Exod 15: 17).

The objective of this thesis is to examine the archival documents that may be considered by the Supreme Court of Canada if the Treaty 7 Nations were to challenge the Federal Government on the Treaty’s content and meaning. The impetus for this thesis is two-fold. Firstly, recent decisions by the Supreme Court of Canada, in relation to Aboriginal historical treaties, have demonstrated a shift towards legally recognizing the sovereignty of First Nations. As more First Nations challenge the Federal Government on their fulfillment of treaty obligations, Supreme Court decisions will become more elaborate and exhaustive, providing many Nations with an opportunity to address treaty concerns in a more substantive manner than in the past. Secondly, the Blackfoot are my neighbours and I am very honoured to relay part of their story.

Blockchain technology is receiving increasing attention from the academic world. Originally conceived to run bitcoin cryptocurrency, it proved to have a wide range of applications in diverse fields. Anyway, despite the initial enthusiasm, different challenges and obstacles in the path toward its adoption emerged. In this paper, an initial presentation of the main ideas, building blocks, mechanisms, and dynamics underpinning blockchain technologies is conducted. Thus, applications, opportunities as well as benefits, and problems resulting from blockchain implementation are presented and investigated. The paper aims to provide a sort of guide to all interested entities and practitioners in order to understand blockchain technology and its opportunities. To achieve this goal, a structured literature review on blockchain technology with a focus on the business field is performed. In doing so, a consistent corpus of existing academic literature on the theme is reviewed and analysed, to provide a snapshot of the state-of-the-art of blockchain technology. The final discussion presents the main implications for organizations and individuals and outlines important considerations toward its adoption for all interested entities.

Syftet med läromedelsstudien är att undersöka hur de kvinnliga regenterna Margareta, Karin Månsdotter, Elisabeth I, Kristina och Ulrika Eleonora skildras i elva svenska historieläroböcker från sent 1800-tal till nutid utifrån ett genusperspektiv. Jag använder mig av teoretiska utgångspunkter i genusteori och genuskontrakt med avseende att undersöka vilka manligt och kvinnligt kodade egenskaper som finns i olika läroböcker om olika drottning under olika tidsperioder. Metod som använts är en kvalitativ innehållsanalys och därigenom summerande ansats genom att analysera ord begrepp och meningar i olika kontexter om kvinnliga regenter. Baserat på insamlad data från läroböcker visar resultat att de manliga manliga egenskaper som kan urskiljas hos kvinnliga regenter är: intellekt, förnuft, rationalitet och kultur genom begrepp och ord som: klok, begåvning, lärd, logiskt grund, kultur och vetenskap. De kvinnliga egenskaper som kan urskiljas är: kropp, natur, naturliga och emotionella genom begrepp och ord som, nyckfull, föga begåvad, mildhet, tillgiven, välvillig, fromhet, goda, ödmjuk, älskvärd, vänlig, snäll, lekfullhet, ung och vacker. Resultat visar även att det generellt sett går att urskilja förändringar och däri i skillnader och likheter i texter om manligt och kvinnligt kodade egenskaper hos kvinnliga regenter i historieläroböcker från sent 1800-tal till nutid som kan till viss del anknytas till olika genuskontrakt.

Abstract:
This thesis examines the process applied by international tribunals for delimiting Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and continental shelf boundaries under international law. Maritime delimitation is governed by articles 74 and 83 of the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), which are customary international law. However, owing to the vagueness of such legal provisions, international tribunals have been developing a standard process for delimiting maritime boundaries. The delimitation process has evolved significantly since the 1969 judgment of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in North Sea Continental Shelf. The ICJ re-stated this process in its 2009 Black Sea judgment as being constituted of three stages: first, an equidistance line is provisionally drawn; second, this line is adjusted should relevant circumstances so require; third, the overall equitableness of the boundary is evaluated by assessing the proportionality between the length of the relevant coast and the marine areas appertaining to each state. This thesis analyses each stage of the delimitation process as re-stated in Black Sea. By way of introduction, chapter 1 outlines the relevant legal provisions and the historical evolution of the delimitation process through the jurisprudence of international tribunals. Chapter 2 discusses both the notions of the relevant coast and of the relevant area, and the practical methods for their identification. Since Black Sea, international tribunals have tended to identify the relevant coast and the relevant area prior to establishing a provisional equidistance line. Chapter 3 discusses the issues concerning the drawing of the provisional equidistance line. Chapter 4 examines relevant circumstances and the methods for adjusting an equidistance line. Chapter 5 discusses proportionality. Using doctrinal legal research methodologies, this thesis aims to assess the degree of consistency in the international tribunals’ application of the three-stage delimitation process. It argues that, while great leaps forward have been made since 1969, there is still a number of unresolved issues, in relation to which this thesis endeavours to provide some workable solutions.
