Abstract:
There is a growing concerns over the health risk of consuming seafood contaminated with poisonous metals from human activities. This study examined the concentration and human health risk of Pb, Cd, Cr, Ni, Co, Zn, V and Hg associated with the consumption of blood cockle (Senilia senilis) and oyster (Crassostrea gasar) from Bonny Estuary, Rivers state Nigeria by analyzing the levels of the selected metals using Atomic Absorption Spectrometer Model A 200 AA. Data were used to calculate the non-carcinogenic health risk using Daily Intake Rate (DIR) Target Hazard Quotient (THQ) and Hazard Index (HI). The results showed variations in the concentration of the different heavy metals in the two shellfish. The trend of the metal concentrations in decreasing order was: Crassostrea gasar > Senilia senilis. Levels of metals in Senilia senilis, were all below the WHO and FAO permissible limit for fish. Also, all metals except Pb were below the WHO maximum permissible limit in Crassostrea gasar. The DIR (9.4684E-06 - 0.00281); THQ (8.286E-07 – 1.842E-04) and HI (2.519E-05 -2.595E-04) for all metals were below one indicating no risk for non-carcinogenic effects individually and collectively. The shell fish analyzed from the Bonny Estuary are free from potential human health hazards from heavy metals. However, continuous monitoring of levels of metals in fish from the estuary is recommended.

Abstract:
The bloody cockle (Senilia senilis), has been harvested by humans over thousands of years and can therefore be a good candidate for assessing past variations of key environmental parameters. Proximate and Microbes associated with S. senilis were evaluated as indices for food safety and biomarker of pollution. Standard microbiological techniques and standard methods of AOAC were employed. Results showed that Bacillus subtilis, Micrococcus species, Proteus species, Klebsiella species, Staphylococcus aureus, Vibrio cholerea, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Enterobacter sp, Escherichia coli, Bacillus cereus, and Chromatium species were the probable bacteria while Rhizopus stolonifer, Aspergillus niger, Penicillium species, Candida tropicalis, Fusarium species and Aspergillus flavus were the probable fungi isolated from the sample. The mean crude protein, moisture, carbohydrate, ash, lipid and crude fibre contents of the soft tissues were 55.86±2.80, 45.01±1.73, 28.59±2.88, 5.96±0.35, 6.61±0.81 and 4.52±0.19% respectively, while the energy or caloric value was 397.65±11.97 Kcal. The mean Total Heterotrophic Bacterial Count, Total Vibrio Count, Total Coliform Count, Total Salmonella Shigella, Total Staphylococcus Count and Total Fungal Count in fresh sample were 1.72±0.85x105, 7.62±1.11x10, 3.33±1.73x10, 2.40±0.14x102, 2.08±0.21x101 and 3.33±0.68x104 cfu g-1 respectively and concentrated mostly in the gut. Although, S. senilis is highly nutritious, the high microbial load make its consumption life threatening. Proper monitoring and surveillance should therefore be adopted by Government and non-governmental agencies to check pollution of the aquatic environments and proper processing should be adopted before consumption for good public health.

Abstract:
Understanding the reproductive biology of a species is an important means of determining the renewal capacity of natural stocks, especially in the case of heavily exploited species. It is a fundamental element in supporting the implementation of management measures. Here, we studied the bloody cockle (S. senilis) in the Sine-Saloum, with the aim of describing its seasonal and spatial reproductive cycle. S. senilis reproduction was studied over an annual cycle at two sites chosen for their contrasting situations along the upstream-downstream gradient. The reproductive cycle was studied by histological analysis of a pool of individuals maintained in-situ and sampled throughout the year. Our results showed that gamete maturation is asynchronous within and between individuals. Gametogenesis mostly occurred in October. The maturation stage showed a seasonal pattern with continuous reproduction throughout the year, with two preferred periods between May and July and December and February. The reproductive cycle is highly dependent on temperature and salinity variations, resulting in a seasonal cycle and spatial heterogeneity. The temperature induces gametogenesis and salinity synchronizes the spawning periods.

Abstract:
The present study assessed the effects of incorporating sea clam (Senilia senilis)meat mealas a partial replacement for fishmeal on the growth performance, survival and whole-body composition of Nile Tilapia Oreochromis niloticus fry(0.2 g).Three iso-proteins (26%) and iso-caloric (11%) diets where fishmeal was substituted withclam meat meal at 0% diet A,10% diet B, and 15% diet C were prepared.The experiment was conductedfor 12 weeks. The stocking density was 15 fish per tank in an isolated system consisting of 9 plastic tanks of 80L each. Each treatment was administered in triplicates, and fish were fed three times per day (09 :00h, 13 :00h, and 17 :00h). The daily ration corresponded to 10% of the fishs live weight during the first month and was reduced to 8% and then 6% for the second and last month of the trial period.The results of this study showed that the incorporation of clam meat meal in the diet of Nile Tilapia fry has benefited growth in fish fed the tested diets. The best growth performance was obtained in the fish fed with diet B containing 10% clam meat meal: 10.57g for absolute mean weight gain 4.75% /d for SGR 0.82 for FCR 2.14 for PER, followed by diet A.Diet C has the lowest growth performance: 8.37g for weight gain,4.44%/d for SGR,0.99 for FCR, and 1.75 for PER. The best survival rate was obtained by diet C (93.33%), followed by diet B (80%), and the lowest by diet A (71.11%). The protein contents of the tested fish were moderately higher than that of the initial fish. No big difference was observed among the tested diets. The ash content is reduced sharply after two months feeding. The lipid content of the tested fish decreasedslightly in comparison to the initial fish. At the end of the study, fish fed with diet B showed the best growth performance among other diets. These results indicatethat clam meat meal can be included up to 15% in the tilapia diet without affecting the nutritional quality of the feed.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Background: Cataracts is one of the leading cause of decreased vision. This study aims to determine the description of improved vision and intraoperative or post-operative complications in patients with senile cataract surgery at H. Abdul Manap Hospital. Methods: The study was conducted in an observational descriptive manner with a cross-sectional research design. One hundred ninety-three data were taken from the medical records of senile cataract patients who were routinely followed up until the third week if the patient was given glasses and the fifth week with or without glasses after cataract surgery at H. Abdul Manap Hospital. Results: Senile cataract patients who underwent cataract surgery at H. Abdul Manap General Hospital were dominated by the age group of 60-69 years (44.3%) and men (55%). Vision in 155 eyes post-operative ECCE, 35 eyes post-operative SICS, and 23 eyes post-operative phacoemulsification have improved. ECCE intraoperative complications were vitreous prolapse (13.54%), PCR (1.29%), iris prolapse (0.65%), and iridodialysis (0.65%). ECCE post-operative complications were SIA (24,51%), corneal edema (3.22%), CME (1.94%), and uveitis (1.94%). SICS intraoperative complications were vitreous prolapse (2.87%) and PCR (2.87%). SICS post-operative complications were SIA (14.28%), corneal edema (2.87%), and CME (2.87%). Intra-operative complications of phacoemulsification were PCR (4.35%). Phacoemulsification post-operative complications were SIA (4.35%) and corneal edema (4.35%). Conclusion: Characteristics of most post-operative senile cataract patients were aged 60-69 years and more found in males. Visual acuity in all post-operative patients on the ECCE, SICS, and phacoemulsification techniques has improved. Intraoperative or post-operative complications were mainly on the ECCE technique. Keywords: ECCE, SICS, phacoemulsification, intraoperative complications, post-operative complication ABSTRAK Latar belakang: Katarak merupakan salah satu penyebab utama penurunan penglihatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran perbaikan visus serta komplikasi intraoperasi atau pascaoperasi pada pasien operasi katarak senilis di RSUD H. Abdul Manap Kota Jambi. Metode: Penelitian dilakukan secara observasional deskriptif dengan desain penelitian cross sectional. Sebanyak 193 data diambil dari rekam medis pasien katarak senilis yang rutin kontrol hingga minggu ketiga jika pasien diberikan kacamata dan minggu kelima dengan atau tanpa pemberian kacamata pascaoperasi katarak di RSUD H. Abdul Manap. Hasil penelitian: Pasien katarak senilis yang menjalani operasi katarak di RSUD H. Abdul Manap didomininasi oleh kelompok usia 60-69 tahun (44,3%) dan laki-laki (55%). Visus pada 155 mata pascaoperasi EKEK, 35 mata pascaoperasi SICS, 23 mata pascaoperasi fakoemulsifikasi mengalami perbaikan. Komplikasi intraoperasi EKEK yaitu prolaps vitreus (13,54%), ruptur kapsul posterior (1,29%), prolaps iris (0,65%) dan iridodialisis (0,65%). Komplikasi pascaoperasi EKEK, yaitu SIA (24,51%), edema kornea (3,22%), EMK (1,94%) dan uveitis (1,94%). Abstract:
Katarak adalah setiap keadaan kekeruhan pada lensa yang dapat terjadi akibat hidrasi (penambahan cairan) lensa, denaturasi protein lensa atau terjadi akibat kedua-duanya. Berdasarkan data World Health Organization (WHO), katarak dapat menyebabkan kebutaan pada lebih dari 17 juta penduduk di dunia. Faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi kecepatan berkembangnya kekeruhan lensa seperti diabetes melitus, hipertensi, obat tertentu, sinar ultra violet B dari cahaya matahari, efek racun dari merokok, alkohol, kurang vitamin E, dan radang menahun di dalam bola mata. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian analitik observasional dengan desain cross sectional. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus sampai Desember tahun 2019 di RS. Khusus Mata Provinsi Sumatera Selatan dengan pengambilan sampel sebanyak 234 pasien dari rekam medik. Data diolah menggunakan SPSS. Dilakukan uji Chi-square untuk mengetahui hubungan faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap kecepatan terjadinya katarak senilis di RS. Khusus Mata Provinsi Sumatera Selatan. Dari 234 pasien, sebanyak 177 pasien (75,6%) menderita katarak senilis matur dan 57 pasien (24,4%) yang menderita katarak senilis imatur. Tidak terdapat hubungan bermakna antara katarak senilis dengan hipertensi (p=0,068; OR=1,084;95% CI=0,589-1,995). Tidak terdapat hubungan bermakna antara katarak senilis dengan diabetes mellitus (p=1.808;OR=1,876;95%CI=0,741-4,747). Tidak terdapat hubungan bermakna antara katarak senilis dengan jenis kelamin (p=0,51;OR=0,933;95% CI=0,514-1,696). Tidak terdapat hubungan bermakna antara katarak senilis dengan usia (p=0,784;OR=1,319;95% CI;0,714-2,437). Tidak terdapat hubungan bermakna antara katarak senilis dan jenis kelamin. Tidak terdapat hubungan bermakna antara katarak senilis dan usia.Tidak terdapat hubungan bermakna antara katarak senilis dan hipertensi. Tidak terdapat hubungan bermakna antara katarak senilis dan diabetes melitus.

Abstract:
Purpose. Integrated assessment of ophthalmogeriatric changes in patients with the wet form of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) at the time of primary diagnosis.Material and methods. 200 senior and senile patients aged 60 or more (of which 43.5% were male) with the newly diagnosed wet AMD underwent a standard ophthalmological examination, took a survey aimed at identifying specific risk factors, and tested for Body Mass Index (BMI) and Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI).Results. The BMI was 29.46 ± 4.1 kg/m2 and the CCI was 3.3 [2; 4]. The average number of disorders per patient with AMD was 4.0 [2; 6] (ranging from 1 to 7). Polypragmasia took place in 8% of cases. Degenerative changes in the conjunctiva were found in 11%, arcus senilis — in 34.55%, dystrophic changes of the iris — in 68%, pseudoexfoliation syndrome — in 17.5%, senile cataract — in 89.5%, degenerative changes of the vitreous — in 84.5%, primary open-angle glaucoma — in 2% of cases. No gender differences were revealed in these indicators. Among systemic diseases, the most frequent were cardiac and cerebrovascular pathologies (arterial hypertension — 74.5%, ischaemic heart disease — 40.5%, cerebrovascular pathology — 20.5%). Type 2 diabetes mellitus was found in 6.5% of AMD patients.Conclusion. The wet form of AMD is characterized by a wide range of comorbid disorders that can affect the development and progression of the main disease. Polypragmasia plays its own role in this progression.

Katarak atau kekeruhan lensa mata merupakan penyebab utama kebutaan di Indonesia yaitu sebesar 81,2%. Dengan meningkatnya umur harapan hidup maka proporsi hidup usia diatas 50 tahun akan meningkat sehingga jumlah penderita katarak juga makin meningkat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran karakteristik pasien katarak senilis di Rumah Sakit Bhayangkara Makassar tahun 2019 – 2020. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah deskriptif observational. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan data sekunder melalui rekam medis pasien yang terdiagnosis katarak pada Rumah Sakit Bhayangkara Kota Makassar. Metode pengambilan sample dilakukan dengan metode purpossive sampling, populasi pasien nantinya dimasukkan kedalam rumus slovin sehingga didapatkan sampel sebanyak 74 pasien. Salah satu masalah pendidikan yang masih berkembang dewasa ini adalah lemahnya proses pembelajaran.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas V UPT SD Negeri 020 Balung melalui implementasi pendekatan CTL. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan strategi tindakan berupa perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi yang terdiri dari 2 siklus. Subjek penelitiannya adalah siswa kelas V sebanyak 19 siswa yang terdiri dari 10 siswa laki-laki dan 9 siswa perempuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat peningkatan hasil belajar siswa dari siklus I kesiklus II, dimana pada siklus I sebanyak 15 siswa (78%) yang tuntas KKM senilai 70, sedangkan pada siklus II menjadi 18 siswa (94%) tuntas KKM seniali 70. Kesimpulan penelitian inimenunjukkan Implementasi Pendekatan Contextual Teaching And Learning (Ctl) mampu Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Matematika Siswa Sekolah Dasar.

Latar Belakang: Katarak senilis adalah kekeruhan pada lensa mata secara progresif dan bertahap yang terjadi pada kelompok usia 50 tahun ke atas dan berhubungan dengan proses degeneratif. Katarak senilis merupakan suatu kelainan muktifaktorial yang dapat dihubungkan dengan berbagai macam faktor diantaranya adalah riwayat diabetes melitus, riwayat hipertensi, kebiasaan merokok, dan pekerjaan. Objektif: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan faktor risiko riwayat diabetes melitus, hipertensi, kebiasaan merokok, dan pekerjaan terhadap kejadian katarak senilis. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik observasional dengan desain penelitian case-control. Penelitian ini dilakukan di RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang pada bulan Agustus 2022 – September 2022. Jumlah sampel adalah 106, terdiri dari 53 sampel kasus dan kontrol. Data yang digunakan adalah data primer dan data sekunder. Analisis data berupa analisis univariat yang mendeskripsikan distribusi frekuensi variabel dan analisis bivariat dengan uji statistik chi square. Hasil: Hasil penelitian ini didapatkan hubungan yang signifikan antara faktor riwayat hipertensi (p=0,000 ; OR=9,94), kebiasaan merokok (p=0,006 ; OR=3,75), dan pekerjaan (p=0,036 ; OR=2,71) dengan kejadian katarak senilis, sedangkan riwayat diabetes melitus (p=0,057) tidak memiliki hubungan yang signifikan. Kesimpulan: Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah riwayat hipertensi, kebiasaan merokok, dan pekerjaan merupakan faktor risiko kejadian katarak senilis sedangkan riwayat diabetes melitus tidak memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan kejadian katarak senilis.

The taxonomy of the myrmicine ants of the Aphaenogaster testaceopilosa-group is revised. Fourteen species are recognized, including two new species, both from Greece: A. balcanicoides sp. n. and A. karpathica sp. n. Aphaenogaster melitensis Emery, 1924 and A. sporadis Santschi, 1933 are elevated to species level. The following new synonyms are established: Aphaenogaster ionia Santschi, 1933 (= A. balcanica Emery, 1898), A. senilis grata Santschi, 1933 (= A. senilis Mayr, 1853), A. senilis occidua Santschi, 1933 (= A. senilis), A. spinosa etrusca Baroni Urbani, 1969 (= A. spinosa Emery, 1878) and A. corsica Casevitz-Weulersse, 2010 (= A. spinosa). Furthermore, a redescription is given for all European species of the Aphaenogaster testaceopilosa-group. The genus Aphaenogaster now includes 178 species, of which 36 are known from Europe. Studi literatur ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi prevalensi katarak di Indonesia. Metode studi literatur dilakukan melalui penelusuran artikel publikasi pada Google Scholar, PubMed, Medline, dan lain-lain dengan kata kunci Katarak, faktor resiko, cataract dan risk factor. Penelusuran dilakukan dengan mencari literatur dari terbitan tahun 2017-2022 dengan desain penelitian observasional, cross sectional maupun case control. Hasil penelusuran didapatkan 10 literatur yang memenuhi kriteria untuk kemudian dilakukan review. Kesimpulan pada studi literatur ini ditemukan bahwa terdapat beberapa faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi angka kejadian katarak senilis, diantaranya usia, jenis kelamin, pekerjaan, riwayat diabetes melitus, hipertensi dan juga kebiasaan merokok.

Angka kejadian katarak senilis di RSUD Tugurejo pada tahun 2014 sebanyak 519 orang, pada tahun 2015 meningkat menjadi 674 orang, dan pada tahun 2016 sebanyak 572 orang. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan kejadian katarak senilis di RSUD Tugurejo Kota Semarang. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi case control dengan sampel sebesar 45 kasus dan 45 kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar kuesioner. Analisis data dilakukan secara univarat dan bivariat dengan menggunakan uji chi-square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai p-value umur (p=0,00), jenis kelamin (p=0,83), tingkat pendidikan (p=0,00), tingkat penghasilan (p=0,02), riwayat keluarga katarak (p=0,45), kebiasaan merokok (p=0,29), lama terpapar sinar matahari (p=0,02), dan hipertensi (p=0,03),. Simpulan penelitian ini adalah terdapat hubungan antara umur, tingkat pendidikan, tingkat penghasilan, lama terpapar sinar matahari, hipertensi dengan kejadian katarak senilis. Tidak ada hubungan antara jenis kelamin, riwayat keluarga katarak, dan kebiasaan merokok dengan kejadian katarak senilis.

The purpose of identifying and collecting frequency data Profile of Senilis cataract patients at the age of 40 years and above at RSI Siti Rahmah Padang in 2017. The research method is descriptive type of research, this study data taken is secondary data, In this study data was taken from the Medical Record at RSI Siti Rahmah Padang. When the study was conducted in February-August 2018, the population of this study were all cataract patients at the age of 40 years and above at RSI Siti Rahmah Padang in 2017 with 80 samples. Data analysis is univariate presented in the form of a frequency distribution table. Results From 80 respondents as many as 40 people (50%) were in the age range of 60-69 years, as many as 42 people (52.5%) patients were male, as many as 31 people (38.8%) patients with high school education and 35 people (43.8%) patients work as private companies. Conclusion In general, most patients are at the age of 60-69 years, the most sex is men, the highest education is high school and most patients are private.

Abstract:
Cholesterol is a type of lipid found in the human body and is susceptible to abnormalities. It can be detected via lipid profiling through blood sampling. In addition, cholesterol can be detected through the presence of a "sodium ring" in the eye iris called the corneal arcus (CA), presenting a new preliminary detection method that is less invasive. Therefore, this paper proposed a non-invasive method in detecting cholesterol based on convolutional neural network (CNN) model representation using 300 normal and 300 abnormal iris images from UBIRIS and medical web images. In this work, contrast-limited adaptive histogram (CLAHE) and unsharp masking process was applied first on CA images to enhance the quality of CA images. To detect the CA images, the dataset was trained and tested using three pre-trained CNN architectures; one is created from scratch, another are Resnet-50 and VGG-19 architectures that were fine-tuned to the CA images. The best result was exhibited by proposed pre-trained CNN model created from scratch with 10-fold cross-validation that produced high average detection accuracy at 98.81%. Thus, deeper network implementation is recommended in the future to further improve CA localization for optometrists used in their daily clinical tasks in detecting cholesterol.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui prevalensi dan karakteristik pasien katarak senilis yang terdapat di RSUD Provinsi NTB. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan desain potong-lintang menggunakan data rekam medis. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh pasien katarak berusia 50 tahun atau lebih di RSUD Provinsi NTB pada periode penelitian dan tanpa adanya riwayat trauma mata yang diketahui. Hasil: Prevalensi katarak senilis yang terdapat di RSUD Provinsi NTB pada periode Januari – Juni 2019 berjumlah 192 pasien (70,6%). Berdasarkan karakteristik demografi, penderita katarak senilis terbanyak adalah berjenis kelamin laki – laki (54,7%), pada usia 56-65 tahun (45,3%), serta berdomisili di Kota Mataram (37,5%). Berdasarkan karakteristik klinis, pasien paling banyak mengalami katarak senilis pada kedua bola mata (60,4%), visus naturalis <3/60 (43,3% mata kanan dan 41,8% mata kiri), visus koreksi terbaik <3/60 (42% mata kanan dan 39,2% mata kiri) dan stadium imatur (66,7% mata kanan dan 66,5% mata kiri) serta dari 192 pasien terdapat 123 pasien dengan penyakit penyerta. Jika dikaitkan antara stadium katarak dengan visus, maka mata pasien paling banyak mengalami katarak stadium imatur dengan gangguan penglihatan sedang (visus <6/18-6/60). Kesimpulan: Berdasarkan penelitian ini, katarak senilis merupakan jenis katarak terbanyak dan sebagian besar pasien datang sudah dengan kebutaan.

Latar Belakang: Katarak senilis adalah kekeruhan yang terjadi pada lensa mata akibat penuaan, terdiri atas katarak nuklear, kortikal, dan subkapsular posterior. Katarak dapat mengakibatkan penurunan cahaya yang masuk ke mata sehingga terjadi penurunan sensitivitas cahaya pada mata yang dilihat pada pemeriksaan perimetri. Objektif: Mengetahui hubungan tipe katarak senilis dengan nilai sensitivitas cahaya pada pemeriksaan perimetri. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik observasional dengan pendekatan cross-sectional dilakukan di Rum pada bulan Februari – Maret 2022. Sampel yang masuk kriteria inklusi adalah sebanyak 45 orang dengan jumlah mata yang dijadikan sampel adalah 77 mata. Analisis data menggunakan chi-square dan Kruskal Wallis. Hasil : Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebagian besar pasien mengalami katarak nuklear (59,7%) dan kategori sensitivitas cahaya terbanyak adalah early defect (35,1%). Kategori sensitivitas cahaya terbanyak pada tipe katarak nuklear adalah early defect (43,5%), tipe katarak kortikal adalah moderate defect (36,8%), dan katarak subkapsular posterior adalah kategori severe defect (41,7%). Nilai sensitivitas cahaya terendah terjadi pada katarak subkapsular posterior (-8,63 dB). Hasil analisis dengan uji Kruskal Wallis didapatkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan (p<0,05) dari nilai sensitivitas cahaya pada masing-masing tipe katarak senilis dengan nilai p=0,048. Hasil analisis dengan uji chi-square menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang bermakna (p<0,05) antara tipe katarak senilis dengan nilai sensitivitas cahaya dengan nilai p=0,039. Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan antara tipe katarak senilis dengan nilai sensitivitas cahaya pada pemeriksaan perimetri.

Di Indonesia sekitar 47% dari orang yang mengalami kebutaan disebabkan oleh katarak. Prevalensi usia orang yang mengalami katarak di Indonesia juga lebih muda daripada di negara barat, yaitu sekitar usia 40-65 tahun, namun seiring dengan bertambahnya usia, prevalensinya semakin banyak. Diagnosis katarak senilis matur dapat ditegakkan dari anamnesis dimana didapatkan penglihatan rabun sejak lama, silau, atau berkabut, pada pemeriksaan fisik didapatkan visus 1/300 atau hand movement, shadow test negatif, serta refleks fundus negatif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk merincikan hasil tajam penglihatan pada pasien katarak senilis berdasarkan berbagai karakteristik, visus sebelum operasi, dan visus setelah operasi selama periode dari September 2019 hingga Januari 2022. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian retrospektif deskriptif dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Jenis penelitian ini dipilih karena peneliti ingin menggambarkan karakteristik pasien dengan katarak senilis dan perbaikan visus pascaoperasi. Penelitian ini melibatkan 48 sampel. Berdasarkan hasil studi yang telah dilaksanakan, bahwa mayoritas pasien katarak senilis di RS Bhayangkara Makassar berjenis kelamin laki-laki (52,1%) dengan usia > 60 tahun (43,8%), mata yang dioperasi ialah mata kiri (58,3%) dengan stadium imatur (58,3%). Terbanyak melakukan operasi ECCE sebanyak 40 pasien (83,3%), dikerjakan oleh operator A (75%). Visus pre-operatif buruk (100%), visus post-operatif hari ke-14 visus baik (45,8%), visus post-operatif hari ke-28 visus baik (75%), dan visus post-operatif > hari ke 28 visus baik (95,8%). Dari data penelitian yang didapatkan bahwa visus pasien katarak senilis setelah 28 hari follow-up mayoritas visus baik sebanyak 95,8% dan sisanya 4,2% visus sedang.

A new tiger beetle species, Cicindela timbisha Duran, Chambers, Nelson & Roman n. sp., of the tribe Cicindelini, is described from the Death Valley ecoregion of eastern California, USA. It is most similar to C. senilis G.Horn, 1866 but is distinguished on the basis of multiple morphological characteristics, including differences in maculations, chaetotaxy of the antennae and a statistically significant difference in body size (P<0.001). The new species also differs from C. senilis in that it is found in an isolated freshwater spring in an inland basin east of the Sierra Nevada mountains, whereas C. senilis is found in saline soils, primarily coastal areas and inland plains, west of the Sierra Nevada range.

Pulau Jawa merupakan salah satu daerah rawan gempa bumi dan memiliki populasi penduduk yang padat. Dalam hal ini pemerintah diharuskan untuk memberikan perhatian lebih pada penanggulangan bencana khusunya di pulau jawa. Maka dari itu penelitian ini hadir untuk mengetahui dampak gempa bumi berdasarkan tingkat keparahannya dengan cara melakukan klasterisasi data pesebaran dampak bencana gempa bumi (2012 - 2021) dari Badan Nasional Penanggunlangan Bencana (BNPB) menggunakan algoritma K-Means Clustering. Dari penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa dampak bencana dapat dibagi menjadi 4 klaster. Klaster 1 memiliki dampak bencana paling banyak meliputi meninggal, luka, menderita, mengungsi, kerusakan rumah, fasilitas pendidikan, fasilitas kesehatan, fasilitas ibadah, kantor, jembatan, dan kios. Klaster ini memiliki Mean Absolute Error (MAE) senilai 0,017, Mean Square Error (MSE) senilai 0,002, standar deviasi senilai 0,255 dan variance senilai 0,065. Klaster 2 meliputi meninggal, luka, menderita, mengungsi, rumah, fasilitas pendidikan, fasilitas kesehatan, fasilitas ibadah, pada korban menderita, mengungsi, kerusakan rumah dan fasilitas ibadah. Klaster ini memperoleh MAE senilai 0,053, MSE senilai 0,011, standar deviasi senilai 0,249 dan variance senilai 0,062. Klaster 3 meliputi korban luka, menderita, mengungsi, kerusakan rumah, fasilitas pendidikan, fasilitas kesehatan, fasilitas ibadah dan kantor. klaster ini memperoleh MAE senilai 0,102, MSE senilai 0,039, standar deviasi senilai 0,212 dan variance senilai 0,045. Bioaccumulation of heavy metals in periwinkle (Tympanotonus fuscatus) and clam (Senilla senilis) collected from the mud flats of Andoni River was carried out over a six months period. Surface sediment samples were collected with a hand trowel into polythene bags while periwinkle and clam samples were collected by hand picking during low tide, washed thoroughly and transported in an ice-container to the Research Laboratory of the Department of Biology, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt for further analysis. Sample preparation followed standard analytical protocols and heavy metal analysis was by Atomic absorption spectroscopy. The concentration of heavy metals (mg/kg) in T. fuscatus was 10.06 ± 0.22, 5.86 ± 0.25, 3.67 ± 0.1, 3.33 ± 0.42 and 0.65 ± 0.09 for Zn>Cr>Ni>Pb>Cd respectively, while that of clam is 6.54±0.51, 6.41±0.15, 4.10±0.6, 2.67±0.1 and 0.39±0.01 respectively for Zn>Cr>Ni>Pb>Cd in descending order of magnitude. All the heavy metals under investigation showed bioaccumulation in the tissues of periwinkle, except cadmium and except cadmium and zinc for clam. Similarly, the concentrations of all heavy metals were above their Rivers State Ministry of Environment and World Health Organization stated limits save for zinc in periwinkle and zinc and cadmium in clam. Thus, indicating that the continued consumption (particularly in large quantities) of periwinkle and clam from the mud flats of Andoni River could lead to far-reaching health implications.

World Hearth Organization (WHO), sedikitnya terdapat 135 juta orang yang mengalami disabilitas penglihatan yang sangat signifikan dan terdapat lebih dari 50 juta orang buta di seluruh dunia saat ini, dengan penyebab kebutaan terbanyak adalah katarak (51%). Terjadinya katarak senilis berhubungan dengan diabetes melitus, riwayat keluarga dengan katarak, pemakaian steroid yang lama, merokok, terpajan sinar ultravioet (UV). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor- faktor yang berhubungan dengan terjadinya katarak senilis pada pasien di poli mata RSUD Bangkinang. Desain penelitian ini adalah analitik deskriptif dengan rancangan penelitian cross sectional. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 30 orang penderita katarak di poli mata RSUD Bangkinang yang dilaksanakan bulan Juli 2019, dengan menggunakan teknik Accidental Sampling. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data primer dan data sekunder. Analisa yang digunakan adalah univariat dan bivariat. Hasil penelitian uji statistik menggunakan uji Chi Square pada tingkat kemaknaan 95% (p≤0,05), menunjukkan bahwa yang mengalami katarak senilis sebanyak 22 orang (73,3%), diabetes melitus 20 orang (66,7%), riwayat keluarga dengan katarak sebanyak 17 orang (56,7%), tidak memakai obat steroid yang lama sebanyak 19 orang (63,3%), merokok sebanyak 21 orang (70,0%), terpajan sinar ultraviolet sebanyak 23 orang (76,7%). Didapatkan ada hubungan riwayat diabetes melitus (p value 0,007), riwayat keluarga dengan katarak (p value 0,009), merokok (p value 0,03), terpajan sinar ultraviolet (matahari) (p value 0,00) dengan kejadian katarak senilis, tidak ada hubungan pemakaian steroid lama (p value 0,67) dengan kejadian katarak senilis. Diharapkan kepada responden untuk menggunakan pelindung mata (kaca mata buram), menghindari merokok dan mengontrol kadar gula darah secara rutin.

The corneal arcus is a degenerative change that involves lipid deposition and presents as a white circumferential band located in the peripheral cornea. Arcus occurs with age (arcus senilis) and is not considered pathologic; it can also be associated with hyperlipoproteinemia in younger age groups (arcus juvenilis). A single ring of arcus senilis is a universal phenomenon. Here we present a case of double arcus in a 55-year-old patient who had no history of any systemic disease. Double arcus senilis was bilateral with a circular, clear zone between the two rings as well as between the limbus and outer ring of arcus. On routine blood investigations, serum triglycerides (220.2 mg/dL) and serum very low-density lipoprotein (44.04 mg/dL) were found to be in the higher range.

Background: D-mannose exhibits strong anti-inflammatory properties, but whether it has beneficial effects on preventing and treating osteoporosis remains unknown. Methods: Female, 12-month-old senile C57BL6/J mice (s-Man group) and 8-week-old ovariectomized C57BL6/J mice (OVX-Man group) were treated with D-mannose in drinking water for 2 months (six mice/group). Microcomputed tomography analysis and hematoxylin and eosin staining were performed to investigate the effect of D-mannose on attenuation of bone loss. Tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase staining of tissue sections, flow cytometry, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, and gut microbiome biodiversity tests were used to explore the underlying mechanisms. Results: D-mannose-induced marked increases in cortical bone volume and trabecular bone microarchitecture in the s-Man and OVX-Man group compared with that in the s-CTRL (senile control) and OVX group, respectively. Moreover, D-mannose downregulated osteoclastogenesis-related cytokines in the bone marrow and expanded regulatory T cells in the spleen of mice. Furthermore, D-mannose reconstructed the gut microbiota and changed the metabolite composition. Conclusion: D-mannose attenuated bone loss induced by senility and estrogen deficiency in mice, and this effect may be mediated by D-mannose-induced proliferation of regulatory T cells and gut microbiota-dependent anti-inflammatory effects.

Abstract:
The philosophy of age is mostly an inquiry into the temporal parameters of human existence. The aim of this article is to review the senile temporality as qualitatively different in time production (chronopoesy) from the temporality of youth and maturity. To achieve this I have considered different types of senile chronopoesy, especially its most radical version (eschatologic time), which correlates with chronoaesthetics of the decrepit and Christian Messianic time. As a result, I managed to identify the main conditions of transformation of time production while aging. I considered the problem, using comparative analysis, in the perspective of the methodological horizon of hermeneutics phenomenology (analytics of Dasein). The results of the study can be reduced to several points. The reduction of ‘age’ and ‘inner age’ future that requires an answer from Dasein determines a shift in the human temporality and configures the particular senile temporality. Changes are the most significant if man accepts his life as meaningfully completed, and the will to Other (that is good on its own) replaces the will for particular achievements (i. e., self-realisation). Goal-setting and the production of over situational temporality persist in eschatologic senility, while ‘heroic’, ‘finishing’ and petty senilities have no big goals and only situational temporality, uncompensated by the verticalization of temporality (by the orientation to the Other). The period between the substantial and physical eschatons is kindred to the time or the aesthesis of the decrepit and the Messianic time of Christian historiosophy as they all are forms of the present (end time). End time is an intransitive present, free from the past and future, correlated with the Other (that is timeless). Once started, it never ends and never become past until the end of the life.

BACKGROUND: The study of dental problems characteristic of geriatric patients is becoming increasingly relevant. As a person ages, the entire dental system undergoes physiological and functional changes. To eliminate the adverse effects of oral diseases, prolong the period of remission, preventive measures, constant monitoring of the level of hygiene, dispensary supervision of elderly and senile persons are necessary. AIM: This study aimed to determine the prevalence and intensity of dental diseases in the following older age groups: young elderly (6574 years old), old elderly (7584 years old), and very old elderly (85 years old and older). MATERIALS AND METHODS: A dental examination of 183 patients was carried out using a modified card for assessing the state of the dental status, according to guidelines of the World Health Organization. RESULTS: Analysis of dental morbidity in the older age group showed that the most common dental diseases in this group were extractions of lossened teeth caused by caries and periodontal diseases. Following a comprehensive dental examination of elderly patients and people with senility, the intensity of KPU and OHI-S was 19.760.52 and 2.710.12, respec-tively, and this indicates the poor hygienic state of the oral cavity of this population. CONCLUSION: Data support the untimeliness and inadequacy of dental care in elderly patients and people with senility. This necessitates the development of special treatment and prophylactic programs for this population, aimed at reducing dental morbidity.

The paper studies the peculiarities of changes in the process of protein metabolism in the elderly and senile people living in the southern region of Kyrgyzstan in different periods of the year. People of elderly and senile age react acutely to seasonal fluctuations. Seasonal changes in the environment affect the regulation of the rhythm of life. In the cold period of the year, under the influence of seasonal factors, a decrease in the functional state of the body systems is observed in the elderly and senile population. At different periods of the year and with age, a weakening of the body's metabolism, including protein synthesis, can be observed. Functional and structural changes in the liver, kidneys are completely reduced in the elderly and the elderly compared to young people. Blood tests by biochemical methods at different periods of the year provide a complete assessment of the physiological state of the elderly and seniors.

Karbon monoksida (CO) adalah salah satu gas polutan yang saat ini konsentrasinya terus meningkat akibat peningkatan populasi dan aktivitas penduduk terutama yang terjadi di Kota Surabaya, Jawa Timur. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membuat prediksi konsentrasi gas CO di Kota Surabaya tahun 2022. Data kualitas udara konsentrasi CO diperoleh dari MERRA-2 Reanalysis melalui platform Giovanni milik NASA. Pemrosesan data konsentrasi CO dilakukan dengan metode Machine Learning menggunakan platform Google Colaboratory dengan model HuberRegressor. Hasil dari pemrosesan data yang dilakukan diperoleh hasil dengan rincian MASE senilai 0.6218, RMSSE senilai 0.3657, MAE senilai 0.0280, RMSE senilai 0.0314, MAPE senilai 0.0836, dan SMAPE senilai 0.0876. Dari hasil evaluasi model tersebut, dapat dikatakan bahwa model HuberRegressor dapat membuat prediksi konsentrasi gas CO di Kota Surabaya dengan cukup baik.
