Abstract:
Staphylococcal enterotoxins (SEs) are important causative agents in gastroenteritidis and food poisoning cases. They are serologically grouped into five major classical types, i.e., SEA, SEB, SEC, SED, and SEE. In addition, new SEs, such as SEG through SEM, have recently been identified and characterized. In an attempt to survey the distribution of classical and new SEs in organisms responsible for staphylococcal infections in Taiwan, we developed PCR primers for the genes that define the SEK, SEL, and SEM types. Bacterial strains other than sek, sel, and sem Staphylococcus aureus, including strains of other Staphylococcus species, did not generate any false-positive results when examined with these primers. The expression potential for the sek, sel, and sem types were also determined by reverse transcription–PCR. Together with the PCR primers specific for the classical SEs and other new SEs, including SEG, SEH, SEI, and SEJ, we surveyed the SE genes in S. aureus strains isolated from food poisoning cases. For 147 S. aureus isolates originating from food poisoning cases, 109 (74.1%) were positive for one or more SE genes. Of them, the major classical enterotoxin type was sea (28.6%), followed by seb (20.4%), sec (8.2%), and sed (2.0%). For the new SE types, sei (30.6%) was detected the most often, followed by sek (18.4%), sem (12.9%), and sel (8.2%). Also, 64 (43.5%) of the total bacterial strains had more than one enterotoxin gene.

Abstract:
In recent years several new staphylococcal enterotoxins (SEs) have been described, which currently have largely unknown frequencies of occurrence and roles in human or animal disease. One hundred and ninety-one Staphylococcus aureus isolates from cows (99), goats (39), sheep (23), rabbits (15), chickens (15) and a cat (1) were screened for SE genes sea–see, seg–seo and seq and for the tst gene encoding staphylococcal toxic shock syndrome toxin-1 using multiplex PCRs and individual PCRs for the seb and sek genes. One hundred and ten isolates tested positive for at least one of these 16 superantigen (SAg)-encoding genes. There were statistically significant differences in the frequencies of some of these SAg genes between isolates from different animals. No strain possessed either the sea or see gene. The sec gene was present in 51 isolates, the sed gene in eight and the seb gene in one. The seh gene was found in four strains and the sek and seq genes together in one isolate. The most common combinations of genes were the egc cluster, bearing the seg, sei, sem, sen and seo genes, in 47 isolates, the sec, sel and tst gene combination typical of the SaPIbov pathogenicity island in 44 isolates, the egc cluster lacking the seg gene in 11 isolates, the sed and sej genes in nine isolates, and the sec and tst genes without the sel gene in seven isolates. The higher frequencies of the sec and tst genes together and the lower frequencies of the egc gene cluster among the SAg gene-positive sheep or goat isolates compared to bovine isolates were statistically significant. Of 36 bovine isolates that were mitogenic for human T lymphocytes, four were negative for the 16 SAg genes tested for, while a further 14 gave borderline results in the mitogenicity assay, 12 of which were SAg gene-negative. Twenty-nine strains lacking all the SAg genes did not induce T-cell proliferation. This survey indicates that novel SE genes seg, sei, sel, sem, sen and seo along with the sec and tst genes predominate in S. aureus from animal hosts. The mitogenicity assays indicate that further uncharacterized SAgs may be present in bovine isolates.

Abstract:
Staphylococcus aureus secreted many types of toxins accompanying Intestinal poisoning resulting from eating food contaminated with bacteria or their toxins. Five hundred meat samples were collected from local markets, including fresh, frozen, canned, sausage and hamburger to investigate their contamination with S.aureus and then determined their ability of these isolates to secrete enterotoxins by using polymerase chain reaction. The results showed that the ratio of isolated S.aureus is 30 (6%) and the percentage of encoding genes for toxins is 30(100%), 0(0%), 3(10), 0(0%),0(0%),3(10), 2(6.7), 1(3.3), 0(0%) and 3(10) to sea, seb, sec, sed, see, seg, see, sei, sej and sel respectively.The result shows the S.aureus isolated from contamination meat able to produce different type to enterotoxins sea, sec, seg, see, sei, and sel and present the sea toxin is the most prevalence type of staphylococcus enterotoxins.

Abstract:
Staphylococcal enterotoxins are the leading cause of human food poisoning worldwide. Staphylococcus spp. are the main mastitis-causing agents in goats and frequently found in high counts in goat milk. This study aimed to investigate the occurrence of enterotoxin-encoding genes in Staphylococcus aureus associated with mastitis in lactating goats in Paraiba State, Brazil. Milk samples (n=2024) were collected from 393 farms. Staphylococcus aureus was isolated in 55 milk samples. Classical (sea, seb, sec, sed, see) and novel (seg, seh, sei) enterotoxin-encoding genes were investigated by means of polymerase chain reaction (PCR). From thirty-six tested isolates, enterotoxin-encoding genes were detected in 7 (19.5%) S. aureus. The gene encoding enterotoxin C (seC) was identified in six isolates, while seiwas observed in only one isolate. The genes sea, seb, sed, see, seg and seh were not observed amongst the S. aureus investigated in this study. In summary, S. aureus causing mastitis in goats can harbor enterotoxin-encoding genes and seC was the most frequent gene observed amongst the investigated isolates. This finding is important for surveillance purposes, since enterotoxin C should be investigated in human staphylococcal food poisoning outbreaks caused by consumption of goat milk and dairy products.

ABSTRACT The emetic responses induced by staphylococcal enterotoxin A (SEA), SEB, SEC2, SED, SEE, SEG, SEH, and SEI in the house musk shrew (Suncus murinus) were investigated. SEA, SEE, and SEI showed higher emetic activity in the house musk shrew than the other SEs. SEB, SEC2, SED, SEG, and SEH also induced emetic responses in this animal model but relatively high doses were required. The house musk shrew appears to be a valuable model for studying the mechanisms of emetic reactions caused by SEs.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to investigate staphylococcal enterotoxins (SEs) by ELISA, and detect the five classical sea, seb, sec, sed, and see genes by real-time PCR in Staphylococcus aureus isolates from raw and pasteurized milk samples. Staphylococcus spp. were isolated from 98 out of 100 raw milk samples, and in 6 out of 100 pasteurized milk samples. On further biochemical tests, S. aureus was isolated in 48 samples (48%) of raw milk (n=100) and in one sample (1%) of pasteurized milk (n=100). Ten (10%) out of 100 raw milk samples were positive for at least one enterotoxin, and the most frequently observed SE was SEA (10%), followed by SEE (7%) and SEB (6%), but none of the isolates were positive for SEC and SED. At least one of the SEs gene types (sea, seb, sec, sed, see) was detected in 45 (93.8%; 45/48) S. aureus isolates from raw milk samples. sec, sea, seb, sed, and see genes were observed in 56.2%, 39.5%, 31.2%, 29.1% and 14.5% of strains respectively. The enterotoxin genes were the single type in 21 (46.7%) of the 45 isolates, there were two in 15 (33.3%), three in six (13.3%), four in two (4.4%), and one (2.2%) in all gene regions. The SE gene was not detected in the S. aureus (n=1) isolate from pasteurized milk. As a result of this study, the presence of enterotoxigenic S. aureus in raw milk was revealed, and it was pointed out that these SEs may contribute to cases of staphylococcal foodborne poisoning (SPF).

A observação da polêmica em torno da campanha evidenciou as disputas de sentido e lutas por reconhecimento entre o discurso vegano e o do agronegócio, apontando caminhos para a compreensão dos critérios definidores de certo e errado na sociedade brasileira hoje. Abstract:
O artigo é resultado de uma investigação exploratória, constituído por uma análise acerca do caráter das recentes migrações alemãs para as Colônias Unidas no Paraguai. Centrando-se na discussão das levas migratórias iniciadas no ano de 2021 e que tem continuidade na atualidade, recorre-se a investigação histórica das formações de colônias alemães no país para maior compreensão do fenômeno, o artigo objetiva demonstrar o caráter particular dessas migrações. A particularidade das migrações é evidenciada a priori pelo seu caráter de contrafluxo, uma vez que a maioria das migrações atuais se dirigem aos países da União Europeia, a Alemanha em especial é o país que mais recebe imigrantes e refugiados, tais sujeitos saem de seu país em direção ao interior da região norte do Paraguai. Dentre os fatores mais notórios da decisão migratória desses sujeitos, relatados por eles e que é objeto de reflexão desse artigo, é exatamente um outro fluxo migratório: a chegada expressiva de mulçumanos no território germânico que é vista como um perigo para tais alemães. Além deste motivo, um outro fator destacado pelos migrantes é a suposta arbitrariedade do governo alemão, principalmente em relação a política de vacinação, tais sujeitos chegaram e chegam ao Paraguai sem estarem imunizados contra a COVID-19. Uma outra motivação, desta vez destacada pelos paraguaios, é que para os alemães o país se apresenta mais viável economicamente levando em consideração os valores dos impostos paraguaios em comparação aos alemães.

Abstract:
Resumo: Por muito tempo a filosofia e a ciência foram vistas como atividades cuja função central era espelhar a realidade. Desse ponto de vista, diferentemente de outros discursos, como as artes e a religião, o empreendimento científico-filosófico é concebido como discurso privilegiado, por supostamente ser o único capaz de atravessar as aparências e acessar a profunda essência dos fenômenos. Não obstante, tal perspectiva vêm sofrendo severas críticas advindas da vertente pós-positivista da filosofia da ciência. Richard Rorty foi um dos autores que atacou o problema da natureza especular do conhecimento, utilizando-se, para isso, de estratégias pragmatistas, como a dissolução de pseudodicotomias, a exemplo de "realidade vs. aparência". Num mundo "sem essências ou substâncias", afirma Rorty, ciência, religião e arte não são meio de acesso à realidade, mas simplesmente instrumentos para a satisfação de desejos humanos. Apesar de ter iniciado com preocupações epistemológicas, a obra de Rorty percorreu campos filosóficos diversos, e suas reflexões pragmatistas sobre ética e política são seminais à filosofia contemporânea. E como é sabido por muitos adeptos do Behaviorismo Radical, a afinidade dessa filosofia com o Pragmatismo é constantemente reiterada, tendo sido ratificada inclusive por B. F. Skinner. Geralmente os paralelos entre as duas perspectivas são estabelecidos em nível estritamente epistemológico, mas o que dizer em relação à ética? Uma ética behaviorista radical encontra salvaguarda no Pragmatismo? Questões anteriores precisam ser enfrentadas: é possível uma ética no Behaviorismo Radical? "Ética pragmatista" não é sinônimo de caos moral? Essas são indagações que guiaram o presente trabalho. Baseando-se principalmente nas obras de Richard Rorty e B. F. Skinner, sondamos respostas possíveis. Argumentamos contra o autoritarismo derivado da aliança com premissas injustificáveis como o representacionalismo, e a favor de uma ética sem absoluto e da radicalização do pluralismo pragmatista. Apesar de eventuais divergências, as éticas pragmatista e behaviorista radical têm muito em comum, e o diálogo entre ambas pode iluminar as esperanças de produzir um mundo melhor.

This dissertation consists of a reflection on my process of creation, from some early artworks and exhibitions I have done, taking as a basis the question of the study of space as a common thread of the whole process. The identification of groups of artworks presented here is intended to bring them as a process, set, relation and projection of a subjective desire. To this end, the analysis rests on the concepts of the research process in contemporary art as a proposal for reading and organizing this process. It mentions the dynamics of spatial structure and its consequent transformation present in the thought of Michel de Certeau, and the notion of site as a context in training proposed by Miwon Kwon. Divided into three parts or chapters, I present to start with the first series of my process, and the two subsequent parts of some developments that are linked to the relational proposal and different ways of look¬ing at an artistic operation as a context that incorporates and relates proposition, physical space and the viewer
Esta dissertação consiste em uma reflexão sobre o meu processo de criação, a partir de alguns primeiros trabalhos e exposições que realizei, fundamentando-se na questão do estudo do espaço como fio condutor de todo o processo. A identificação de conjuntos de trabalhos presentes neste estudo tem o propósito de trazê-los como processo, jogo, relação subjetiva e projeção de um desejo. Para tanto, a análise apóia-se nas concepções da linha de pesquisa em processos artísticos contemporâneos como proposta de leitura e organização deste processo. Traz referência às dinâmicas de estruturação espacial e sua consequente transformação presentes no pensamento de Michel de Certeau, bem como da noção do site como um contexto em formação proposto por Miwon Kwon. Distribuídos em três partes ou capítulos, apresento de início as primeiras séries de meu processo, e nas duas partes subsequentes alguns desdobramentos que vinculam-se à propostas relacionais e modos possíveis de se encarar uma operação artística como um contexto que incorpora e relaciona, proposição, espaço físico e espectador

Relação. Esta é a palavra que melhor resume este trabalho. A partir de algumas teorizações em psicossomática, nomeadamente o acervo clínico e científico presentes nas obras e pensamentos de Sami-Ali e de Coimbra de Matos, convocando o método clínico de estudo caso e recorrendo a instrumentos de recolha de dados de teor essencialmente projectivo -entrevista clínica não directiva, Rorschach, e desenho livre e desenho da figura humana - esta investigação procura, na relação - vinte sessões ao longo de um ano -, pensar e tentar compreender o específico adoecer somático em duas pessoas com doença orgânica - uma com síndrome de Cushing e outra com diabetes mellitus tipo 1. Constitui-se, assim, como um estudo de cariz marcadamente exploratório - à custa das duas biografias -, naturalmente subjectivo e de alguma profundidade, a procurar situar-se entre o biológico e o relacional, mas a tender, por deformação, claramente para o relacional, insuficiência que se assume, mas que não se conforma em perder o biológico de vista, tentando compreender a relação entre a doença, a pessoa e o seu "drama existencial" no adoecer. Os resultados colhidos e discutidos parecem confirmar o sempre espectacular funcionamento psicossomático e a pálida personalidade psicossomática, reflectindo-se, por último, nos principais marcadores de um e de outra e nas implicações terapêuticas deste conhecimento.

O modelo de criptografia de chave pública explicitamente certificado é o mais comumente empregado, e compreende uma infraestrutura de chave pública (PKI) composta por procedimentos, hardware, software e pessoal administrativo para a sua operação. Tal infraestrutura é complexa e onerosa, o que torna o seu uso proibitivo em diversas situações. Neste trabalho foram abordados paradigmas de criptografia de chave pública alternativos ao paradigma PKI, com foco no paradigma sem certificados. Dentro deste paradigma, e com ênfase em segurança demonstrável, foram estudados os esquemas de cifrassinatura, os quais provêem eficientemente e simultaneamente as propriedades da encriptação de chave pública com as propriedades da assinatura digital: confidencialidade, integridade, autenticidade e irretratabilidade. Este trabalho tem como contribuições: (i) ataque contra a propriedade de indistinguibilidade do IBSC McCullagh-Barreto [MB04], (ii) proposta de correção do esquema CLSC Barbosa-Farshim [BF08], o qual havia sido quebrado por Selvi et al [SVR10b], (iii) exposição sistemática sobre segurança demonstrável, criptografia de chave pública sem certificados e cifrassinatura sem certificados
Abstract: Public-key cryptography is ever more present on computational systems, providing them several security properties, including: confidentiality, integrity, authenticity and nonrepudiation. The explicitly certified public-key cryptography model is the most commonly employed one, and it consists of a public-key infrastructure (PKI) which requires procedures, hardware, software and management personnel for its operations. Such infrastructure is complex and costly, making its use prohibitive in many cenarios. This work approached alternative paradigms for public-key cryptography, with focus on the certificateless paradigm. On this paradigm, and with emphasis on provable security, we studied signcryption schemes, which provide efficiently and simultaneously the properties of public-key encryption with those of digital signature: confidentiality, integrity, authenticity and non-repudiation. This work has the following contributions: (i) attack against the indistinguishability property of IBSC McCullagh-Barreto [MB04] (ii) correction for the CLSC Barbosa- Farshim [BF08], which had been broken by Selvi et al [SVR10b], (iii) systematic exposition about provable security, certificateless public-key cryptography and certificateless signcryption

One of the characteristics of contemporary society is the validation of the functions and attributes of image: looking, viewing and seeing can be considered as a hyper-cognization of vision. To move from the behavior of those who are able to see and those who are blind can mean much more than the contrasts between seeing and not seeing, between light and dark, or other antinomies. Anthropological studies based only on what is explicit, what is visible, and what can be observed are able to exacerbate differences and be represented as poor guides of what people do, know, or think. However, blind individuals have been the object of systematic studies, as carriers of special needs or in the condition of a minority to be included. Although the term carriers of special needs is a traditionally accepted way to refer to a social group, without the label of handicap , it is not self-clarifying, for, if considered individually, everyone presents specific, special needs. The eyes, blindness and vision were analyzed under the perspective of science and mythology. The aim of this work is to enter the sea of blindness without stereotypes, that is, to attempt to understand the invisible and lacunary universe of thought in which the blind person is located and the sensitive and relatively continuous world the visible world represented by the screen. For this work, we have analyzed two movies: Blindness and Red Like the Sky and the documentary Janela da alma [Window of the Soul]. University students from the São Gabriel campus, from PUC Minas, were census-like surveyed in order to identify those blind and carrier of low vision, who presented their perspective in relation to the seventh art
A sociedade contemporânea tem como uma de suas características a valorização das funções e atributos da imagem: o olhar, a visão e o enxergar, podem ser considerados como uma hiper-cognização da visão. Transitar entre o comportamento das pessoas que enxergam e o das cegas pode significar muito além dos contrastes entre ver e não ver, entre claro e escuro, ou outras antinomias. Estudos antropológicos baseados apenas no que é explícito, no que é visível, e no que pode ser observado podem exacerbar diferenças e se configurar como guias pobres sobre o que as pessoas fazem, sabem ou pensam. A pessoa cega tem sido objeto de estudos sistemáticos, porém, como portadora de necessidades especiais ou na sua condição de minoria a ser incluída. Embora a terminologia portadores de necessidades especiais seja uma forma tradicionalmente aceita para se referenciar a um grupo social sem a pecha de deficiente, ela não é auto-esclarecedora, pois se consideradas individualmente, todas as pessoas apresentam necessidades específicas, especiais. Penetrar no mar da cegueira sem estereótipos é a proposta deste trabalho: tentar entender o universo do pensamento invisível e lacunar no qual a pessoa cega se situa e o mundo sensível e relativamente contínuo o mundo visível representado pela tela. Os olhos, a cegueira e a visão foram analisados sob a perspectiva da ciência e da mitologia. Foram analisadas as películas Ensaio sobre a cegueira, Vermelho como o céu e o documentário Janela da alma. Foram entrevistados de forma censitária os alunos da Unidade São Gabriel, da PUC Minas para levantar a identificação dos universitários cegos e portadores de baixa visão, que apresentaram sua perspectiva em relação à sétima arte

Ao longo da vida, o homem compõe a sua identidade tendo em conta as várias vivências e experiências que acompanham o seu percurso. A maioria, foram fruto do ato de habitar o mundo, com o qual cria uma forte relação. Este processo que foi dando significado ao habitar de cada um, tem por base, toda a experiência vivida ao nível da esfera habitacional. Esta, tendo em conta as exigências do habitante, deve ser o espelho de toda a sua personalidade, como também, das suas necessidades. Neste sentido, a presente investigação intitulada de “Habitar sem ver - Arquitetura para invisuais”, pretende compreender de que forma a esfera habitacional deve responder às exigências e necessidades de um cego, proporcionando-lhe bem-estar e um elevado nível de conforto e autonomia. Neste sentido, o processo teve em conta duas esferas relativas à cegueira total: os cegos congénitos e os cegos adquiridos. Assim, e tendo como base a temática da inclusão, o cego ocupa a base de todo o processo desenvolvido, que deverá dar resposta não só a esta restrição visual, como também às restantes deficiências, defendendo assim, uma Arquitetura Inclusiva. A fim de atingir o objetivo referido, foi colocada uma questão inicial: ‘Qual o papel da arquitetura e do arquiteto no desenho do espaço habitacional de uma pessoa cega?’. Esta, para além de originar outras interrogações, permitiu também levantar várias hipóteses. Com o intuito de lhes dar resposta, foi necessário entrar diretamente no mundo não-visual, através da realização de várias entrevistas. Esta envolvência com os vários participantes permitiu esclarecer todas as incertezas geradas ao longo de todo o processo. A casa deve ter a capacidade de responder a todas as necessidades de quem a usufrui, permitindo ao Homem chegar ao verdadeiro significado do verbo habitar.
ABSTRACT: Throughout life, man builds forms his identity based on various experiences that follow him through the course of life. Through life, man builds his identity based on experiences, most of them followed by the outcome of their actions while living in the word gathered by residing in the world. The process that gives meaning to the inhabit the way we live, relies on the level of experience we develop around the housing sphere. Take into account, the inhabitants must become the mirror of all personalities and needs. The present investigation, titled “Habitar sem ver – Arquitetura para invisuais”, pretends to understand how the housing sphere must respond to the requirements and needs of a blind person, providing the levels of comfort and independence. On this matter, the process debated is about two kinds of blindness: those born blind and those cognitive blind. Based on the inclusion theme, all the developed processes must not give an answer to the restriction of seeing but an answer to all kinds of disabilities, therefore defending an Inclusive Architecture. In order to achieve the referred objective, an issue has been raised: ‘What is the role of architecture and the role of the architect who is taking responsibility of drawing the living space for a blind person?’. To achieve an answer, it was necessary to enter and envision the world of the blind which was possible, through interviews. Being able to achieve these interviews, it was possible to clarify all the doubts gained during the process. The house must have the ability to achieve answers regarding all the needs of the person who’s enjoying it, allowing the Man and also the blind man in this case, to achieve the real meaning of the verb inhabit.

Para lá da generalidade da pergunta «Tudo é comunicação?», que sentido pode fazer perguntarmo-nos «O que comunica no ser humano?», ou mesmo questionarmo-nos sobre a hipótese «E se tudo no ser humano comunica?». Eis a problemática inerente à investigação que aqui se tenta levar a cabo. Obviamente, em tudo existe a possibilidade, por mais diminuta que seja, de haver um momento comunicativo. Mais do que fundamentar essa possibilidade, é propósito deste estudo salientar que a comunicação humana desenvolve por si mesma um “sistema” comunicativo que faz do corpo, do rosto e de todas as expressões envolventes veículos de transmissão expressiva de informação, e também fonte de conhecimento para receptores em interacção com o interlocutor.
Beyond the general question «Is everything communication?» , what sense could it be if we ask ourselves" What communicates in human being? ", or even question ourselves about the hypothesis" What if everything in the human being communicate? ". Here is the problem inherent to the research that we‟re trying to accomplish. Obviously, however small it may be, there is a possibility of a communicative moment in everything. Rather than support this possibility, it is purpose of this study point out that human communication itself develops a communicative "system" that makes the body, face and all surrounding expressions vehicles of expressive transmission of information and also a source of knowledge for the receptor interacting with the caller.

Abstract:
This seminar will take you from zero experience with SmartPLS to conducting advanced analyses including path models and structural equation models estimated via PLS. The conceptual foundation for models estimated using PLS will be described along with an introduction to PLS and the newest SmartPLS package. Worked examples will feature prominently throughout the seminar using real-world data. A full-functionality 2-month trial license for SmartPLS will be provided to all participants for use during and after the seminar. An official Instats certificate of completion is provided at the conclusion of the seminar. For European PhD students, the seminar offers 2 ECTS Equivalent points.
