Abstract:
IntroductionSelf-amputation, the most severe form of self-mutilation, is unusual. In most cases, self-mutilation is related to psychiatric disorders, mainly psychotic spectrum disorders and substance abuse.ObjectivesThis case report aims to describe a case of unusual self-amputation in a man with a psychiatric history.MethodsCase report and literature review.ResultsA 35 years old man patient, divorced, unemployed, with 15 years of treatment history for anxiety and low mood. The patient reported history of childhood trauma. He was inpatient (2019) after a suicide attempt. The psychiatrist who was treating him did not give a diagnosis (referral diagnosis). The patient mentioned several times that he desired feet amputation, without planification, in context of high anxiety. He was distressed by the shape and noise of his ankles. The patient was not diagnosed with genuine hallucinations or delusions. Four months after his divorce he amputated his feet with an electric saw. He denied any intention to commit suicide by committing this act. He admitted that he wanted to get rid of discomfort. Despite this drastic action, his mood did not improve.ConclusionsSelf-amputation is not a common condition. Although some cases of self-amputation have been reported, this case illustrates not only the difficulty of making a differential diagnosis (psychosis, dissociation, trauma, dysmorphophobia, body identity integrity disorder…) but also the challenge of a multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of patients with self-amputations.

Abstract:
Number of studies have investigated the relationship between personality and web use behaviors on Social Network Sites (SNS), and the measurement of web use behaviors relies on self-report technique. In this study, the authors investigated the correlation between self-report and web-log measures of web use behaviors, and further examined which one would be better to predict user’s personality. There are two major findings: (a) a diverse relationship exists between self-report and web-log measures of web use behaviors; (b) web-log data is a better predictor of user’s personality than self-report data. It suggests that such two sets of data (self-report and web-log) should be treated differently, and it is suitable to predict user’s personality using web-log data.

Abstract:
This fictional account of a teenage girl's treatment is based on the author's experience of working with troubled young people. He shows how cases of self-harm and antisocial behaviour can be helped not only by an understanding of the intrapsychic world, but by a therapeutic regime based on psychodynamic principles. In residential treatment there are opportunities for adolescents to learn from relationships with staff, peers and educational input but sometimes they are wasted by the repetition of abuse. While psychoanalytic psychotherapy by itself may be insufficient for a young person in need of a more comprehensive residential treatment, nevertheless psychodynamic concepts may make significant contributions to the process of therapeutic change.

Abstract:
This study examined what factors would result in greater consistency between self-reports of behavior and actual behavior. It was hypothesized that self-awareness would result in greater consistency between self-reports and behavior than would a lack of self-awareness. Furthermore, it was hypothesized that individuals who described themselves as very helpful would be more affected by self-awareness contexts in showing helpfulness to a confederate than individuals who described themselves differently. Although the above hypotheses were not confirmed, those individuals who described themselves as very helpful were significantly more helpful to the confederate than those individuals who described themselves differently. Individuals who described themselves as very helpful also described themselves as having many positive social qualities, in partial contrast to those who described themselves differently. Explanations for the above results are discussed.

Abstract:
Introduction: We present a rare case of complete self-amputation of the penis to a patient followed for schizophrenia under neuroleptic. Case Presentation: A 44 years old patient, schizophrenic under neuroleptic, who presents following an almost total section of his penis 48 hours after his self-mutilation. After having ruled out a life-threatening emergency, hemostasis control with urethral catheterization was carried out in the operating room and then phallic replacement may be indicated to the patient after psychological stabilization. Discussion: The section of the penis is a rare urological emergency that requires a fast surgical catch and can be classified into 3 groups: self-mutilation, criminal amputation or traumatic accident. Schizophrenia and depression represent the two most common causes of psychosis. Iatrogenic amputations of the penis have been described in the literature secondary to circumcisions. Surgical management is based on emergency reimplantation of the penis, section with placement of a urethral catheter or phallic replacement. Conclusion: The section of the penis is a rare urological emergency and the choice of treatment depends on the severity of the lesions and the consultation time.

A sample of 6,370 students in Grades 6 to 8 completed a questionnaire on their attitudes and use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. Analysis indicated that this subsample was significantly different from the main group on demographic variables and self-reported lifetime tobacco use. Abstract:
Dieting attempts have become popular worldwide. Dieting, however, seems to have both positive and negative health-related consequences. So far, only a few studies have focused on the determinants of dieting in detail. This study explores the association between self-report dieting attempts and intentional weight loss (IWL) during the previous year and several demographic, lifestyle, health, and psychological factors in a cross-sectional study design using data from the representative Finnish Health 2000 Survey. The sample comprised 2147 men and 2378 women, aged 30–69. Information for potential determinants was assembled via health examinations, interviews, and questionnaires. Approximately 24% of the men and 39% of the women reported dieting attempts and 10% of the men and 15% of the women reported IWL. Dieting attempts were associated with younger age, education, BMI, formerly smoking, more favourable values in lifestyle variables, and unfavorable values in serum HDL and triglycerides, a worse sense of coherence, concerns about one’s appearance, and concerns about one’s health. Among men, diabetics and those sleeping ≤6 h a night more frequently reported dieting attempts and those with osteoarthritis reported IWL. Moreover, the gradient between BMI and dieting attempts was significantly stronger in men than in women. Men seem to attempt dieting when they have actual health-related reasons, while such reasons are not so strongly associated with dieting in women. These findings can be used for determining subpopulations with obesity and real weight-loss needs and, alternatively, subpopulations with normal weight unnecessarily attempting dieting.

Abstract:
Rehabilitation professionals frequently must evaluate the accuracy and truthfulness of a client's self-report. Inaccurate self-report may cause problems with rehabilitation planning and provision of appropriate services. A conceptual and practical approach to assessment of exaggeration. malingering, and conversion disorder is presented. Included are the stages of evaluation, summary of a model to assess client credibility, and methods for determination of malingering and conversion disorder. Suggestions are offered for counseling the client whose self-report is not accurate.
