Abstract:
The article aims to determine the impact of a psychologically grounded interactive educational space on the professional self-realization of future art professionals. The study used the methodology “type and level of professional self-realization,” methodology for studying satisfaction, test for studying the motivation of professional activity, and methodology for self-assessment of youth career development. The sample was formed from future actors, directors, musicians, vocalists, and artists. The results indicate the effectiveness of a psychologically grounded interactive educational space for the professional realization of future specialists in the field of art. The interactive educational space that stimulates students’ reflection and motivation positively impacts the type of professional self-realization, professional motivation, assessment of future careers and the formation of academic knowledge and professional skills. At the same time, in the cases of using conventional interactive educational space, there are positive changes in the cognitive-activity component and the type of professional self-realization. The results obtained can be used to optimize the use of interactive educational space in higher education institutions to train art professionals. In future research, it is advisable to conduct a differentiated study of the impact of interactive educational space on the personality of a future art specialist.

Abstract:
Abstract Numerous scholars, philosophers, and experts in aesthetics have underscored the profound significance of a life enriched by the presence of beauty. Consequently, the appreciation of aesthetic experiences is considered pivotal for achieving self-discovery and self-transcendence (Howell et al. 2017). Despite theoretical prominence, limited qualitative research has been conducted on this topic. To address this gap in research, this study’s objective emphasized two questions guiding the inquiry; What is the role of aesthetic encounters in aiding self-realization or individuation? and, how do these experiences foster self-transcendence? A thematic analysis was performed on the online interviews conducted (N=25), and their results revealed seven themes pertaining to self-realization: a) Losing Yourself to Find Yourself; b) Relatability and Self-Reflection in Art; c) Identity as a Collection of Skills; d) Art as a Medium for Self-Expression and Acknowledgment; e) Aesthetic Genres and Taste as Identity; f) Belonging and Social Identity through Art; and g) Personal Interests and Choices in Artistic Consumption. Furthermore, seven themes for the second research question of self-transcendence were also discovered: a) Mother Nature’s Beauty; b) Intense, Passionate, and Overwhelming Experiences of Heightened Consciousness; c) Sacred Symbolism, Archetypal Imagery, and the Collective Unconscious; d) Collective Effervescence, Social Connection, and Shared Meaning; e) The ‘Profound’ Found in the Mundane; f) Feelings of Spiritual Elevation and Wellbeing; and g) Self-Referential Meaning-Making through Art. These findings evidenced the transformative potential of aesthetic experiences, shedding light on the facets of personal growth and meaning that individuals derive from such encounters.

Abstract:
This paper puts forward the concept of art innovation system and the system model of art creation process. On this basis, it analyzes the basic characteristics of art innovation system by using the principle of finite optimization, and establishes the operation mechanism of art innovation system based on the characteristics of uncertain attributes. At the same time, it is pointed out that the essence of artistic design innovation is to increase the optimum attributes of the work and reduce the non-optimum attributes of the work, and the operation process of this innovation system is also a learning process. Research shows that artistic innovation is the realizability of new ideas and new models, which depends on the target demand for artistic works and the realization degree of the new demand for works. Moreover, the artistic innovation system has the functions of self-organization, self-learning and self-realization, and the practical wisdom of artistic works creation is the key to the establishment of the innovation system.

Abstract:
Thesis (MA)--Stellenbosch University, 2015.
ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The study postulates that drawing functions as a valuable vehicle that facilitates reciprocity between the drafter and her life-world. This relationship of exchange can bring about transformation of the self. The study is a qualitative study that aims to establish an understanding of how drawing functions as a vehicle facilitating reciprocity between the drafter and her life-world. In order to effectively research the transformative potential of reciprocity between artist, drawing, and life-world, theoretically and practically, the study is divided into two main parts. Firstly, it constitutes a theoretical section, which forms the foundation for further exploration in the second part of the study. Secondly, the study focuses on the practical manifestation of the theories as manifest in my drawings and in selected drawings of Diane Victor, whose work primarily functions as ‘a third person perspective’ in relation to my own work. The study is rooted in a psycho-analytical framework, focusing on Self psychology and Intersubjective Psychoanalysis of personality psychologists such as Jung, Miller, Goldberg and McAdams, amongst others, as well as the writings of philosophers, art historians and drawing theorists such as Jacques Derrida, Catherine de Zegher, and Suzi Gablik. Valuable links are forged between the transformative potential of drawing, the psychological and the spiritual. Parallels are drawn between notions derived from self-psychology and theology, based on the premise that human beings constitute body (physical aspect), soul (mind and emotion) and spirit, three components that are hardly divisible and that work together in drawing, effecting the transformation of the self. I argue that a failure to acknowledge the significance of the interactivity between these facets limits and inhibits the transformative potential of the drawing process. Through interactivity between the self and her life-world through drawing, moments of ‘recognition’ and ‘knowing’ occur - concerning hidden ‘truths’ of the self, which could affect personal transformation. In this study, life-world comprises inner and outer world, a visible and invisible world. The visible world focuses on the interaction of the self with nature and culture, and the invisible world focuses on the interaction of the self with a psychic world, which includes the workings of the conscious and unconscious mind in drawing and their connection with a spiritual dimension. The spiritual aspect in drawing is researched through the notions of transformative “presence” and the “transcendent function” of drawing. The study explores the psychological and spiritual value of drawings as transformative selfobjects to address the general neglect of the spiritual. I affirm that there exists a mutually conducive potential and influence that the interplay between the spiritual and the psychological in the drawing process bring about. As a “selfobject”, a drawing attains its own ‘silent visual language’ replacing or assisting the role of the therapist, becoming pivotal in a transformative ‘interpersonal dialogue’. Lastly, Jung (Miller, 2004:4) claims that the unification of the conscious and unconscious eventually results in “a living birth that leads to a new level of being, a new situation” (Miller, 2004:4).

Abstract:
This is a study of Nietzsche's thought which focuses upon his account of self-hood, his ambition to bring about a 'revaluation of all values', and the structure and strategies of his texts. The introductory chapter raises a series of questions about the relationship between representations of the self, self-transformation and the problem of truth in Nietzsche's writings. I discuss the force and implications of Nietzschean 'truthfulness'. Chapter One is an exploration of Nietzsche's account of modern subjectivity. The point I seek to establish here is that there are important continuities between asceticism and Nietzsche's own thought about the self. I also discuss Nietzsche's 'perspectivism', treating it as arising out of modem self-consciousness about the contingency of our identities, and argue that Nietzsche translates that sense of contingency into a sceptical treatment of the conditions of self-knowledge. Chapter Two examines Nietzsche's sceptical treatment of the conditions under which we claim 'knowledge' in the light of his reception of Schopenhauer's and Kant's philosophies. I discuss a reading of Nietzsche's perspectivism which suggests that it expresses an epistemic caution which nonetheless permits us to suppose that we can legitimately speak of our access to 'truths' about the empirical world. I argue that this is too narrow a view of the role played in Nietzsche's thought by the appeal to 'truth' and that we need to take account of the wider rhetorical and aesthetic context within which such appeals are made. The significance of this discussion lies in the question of how we are to characterize Nietzsche sense of our relationship to 'reality', and hence the character of his 'realism'. Chapter Three explores the poetic aspects of Nietzsche's characterization of a life which would embody the principles of a tragic vision. The relationship between art and truth in Nietzsche's thought is discussed. The concluding remarks consider the status of a text which aims to transfigure our understanding of ourselves at a fundamental level.

Full text
Abstract:
This study determined the number of self-directed learning projects undertaken by older adults and examined the motivational factors and anticipated benefits related to the learning activities. In addition, obstacles to conducting self-directed learning were identified by the respondents. A list of 20,032 names of adults, aged 50 or more years and residing in Tom Green County, Texas, was obtained from voter registration rolls and the residential rolls of four retirement complexes. Four hundred names were randomly selected to serve as the sample of the study. Of the 400 potential subjects, 120 persons agreed to be interviewed. Indepth interviews were conducted using the questions from Tough's Interview Schedule for Studying Some Basic Characteristics of Learning Projects and a probe sheet to identify obstacles to conducting self-directed learning projects. The interviews focused on the learning activities of older adults during the previous year. The 120 subjects of this study conducted a total of 239 learning projects in the previous year, an average of 1.99 self-directed learning projects per person. Ninety-five (95%) percent of the persons interviewed reported to have conducted at least one learning project in the past year. The majority of the learning projects were self-planned for the purpose of self-enjoyment and self-fulfillment. The most frequent obstacles to conducting self-directed learning projects identified by the subjects included: 1) finding the time for the learning activity; 2) the cost of the learning activity; 3) home responsibilities; 4) difficulty deciding what knowledge or skill to learn; 5) difficulty remembering new material or information; and 6) poor health. Comparisons of the results of this study were made with the results of previous studies by Tough, Hiemstra, and Ralston. The data support the belief that books, pamphlets, and newspapers are the primary source of information for the older adult. The results of this study indicate that older adults value self-directed learning as a major source of self~fulfillment in their lives and are motivated to develop new knowledge and skills through self-planned, self-directed learning projects.

Abstract:
The novel is one means by which writers can provide examples of the possibilities for women in patriarchal societies to seek greater independence. Sabina Berman (1955- ) and Silvia Molina (1946- ) are modern day Mexican novelists whose writings support the betterment of the female condition in this Latin American society. This study focuses on these two authors and describes and analyzes several of their female protagonists who can be characterized as being in search of their self-identity and self-realization. The novels of interest are La Bobe (2006) and La Mujer que Buceó Dentro del Corazón del Mundo (2010) by Sabina Berman and La Mañana Debe Seguir Gris (1977) and El Amor Que Me Juraste (1998) by Silvia Molina. The theoretical framework used to analyze these novels is based on The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir and on the writings of the Mexican author Rosario Castellanos. These novels provide examples of how women can challenge patriarchal social norms in order to seek their identity as an individual and their self-realization. However, to do this, women must be willing to accept the risks and costs that may accompany this self-searching. By seeking identity women can satisfy their longings and desires, but at the same time this may also produce undesired results. Nevertheless, these novels show that women have the ability to seek their personal identity if they take the initiative to do so.

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to understand the change in self-realization scores between pre- and post-tests in experimental and control groups following Mandala art therapy in collegiate martial arts athletes. Methods: Subjects were divided into experimental and control groups; the experimental group participated in art therapy courses for 2 hours a week for 6 weeks. The 6-week courses were designed by an art therapist. The control group did not participate in the course. All subjects in both groups were examined before and after the 6-week course using a "Self-realization Scale.” Results: 1. The mean score of the “creative expression” subscale was significantly higher after Mandala art therapy intervention. 2. No difference in mean scores of the following subscales were observed: “self-acceptance”, “devotion to others”, “acceptance and respect of others”, and “self-actualization and independence”. 3. No difference could be observed overall within or between both groups following the intervention. Conclusion: Creative expression of competitive martial arts athletes could be effectively enhanced by Mandala art therapy, leading to improved performance routines and development of style. These improvements may then improve athletic performance.

Abstract:
This thesis consists of two parts – a creative work, Memory and Memorialisation, and an exegesis, Writing Women’s Lives: Women’s Autobiographies, that documents the writing process and the theoretical perspectives informing it at various stages. It is the result of a twelve year investigation into the writing process; the nature of memory, death and desire in objects and places; and their role in personal representation. The exegesis highlights the difficulties encountered in simultaneously writing and critiquing one’s own autobiographical works. As autobiography is also written ‘in relation to’ significant others, the emotional, ethical and legal issues inherent in the writing and publication of autobiographical works are explored. The creative work is not a unitary text and comprises a collection of fragmented yet connected autobiographical stories that experiment with form using archival collections – a blending of memory with family and local history – the results of excavating the past to make meaning in the present. Images are used singly and in collages to signify the temporality and intertextuality of these auto/biographical acts. Restriction: View part thesis only. Abstract:
Consistency between personal values and career choices is essential to achieve job satisfaction and to attain positive career outcomes and self-realization. Schwartz and Bilsky (1987) propose ten basic values, measured through the Portrait Value Questionnaire, related to the universal needs of existence: self-direction, stimulation, hedonism, power, achievement, security, conformity, tradition, universalism, and benevolence. These values are organized in a circular shape, according to their similarities and dissimilarities and following the contraposition between openness to change and conservation, and between self-enhancement and self-transcendence. Focusing on professional goals and aspirations, Schein’s Career Orientation Inventory (1990) identifies eight anchors that drive employees’ career paths and orientations: general managerial competence, technical/functional competence, autonomy/independence, security/stability, entrepreneurial creativity, dedication to a cause, pure challenge, life-style. Schein affirms that a career anchor is “that one element in a person self-concept, which he or she will not give up even in the face of difficult choices” (1990). In this paper, we aim at understanding the mutual relationship between the paradigms proposed by Schwartz and Schein, in order to enlighten how personal motivations inform career preferences and choices. We administered the Portrait Value Questionnaire and the Career Orientation Inventory scales to a sample of 253 respondents who work in different fields and positions, through a survey questionnaire. Results show a high level of consistency between Schwartz’s and Schein’s theoretical frames. Those who are more oriented to the openness to change dimension tend to favour careers of autonomy and entrepreneurial creativity, while a conservative motivation leads to more safe and stable careers; analogously, personal values of self-enhancement support challenging careers while self-transcendence pushes for dedication to a cause and work-life balance.

Abstract:
In The Act of Work (1984) Heilbroner argues that work expresses subordination and its opposite, freedom. Work cannot be described solely in terms of objectively defined tasks, but of subordinately completed tasks. With modern capitalism, the formal freedom not to work is introduced, and it is the end of work based on force. With the development of industrial society, the blackmail of hunger also disappears, because in our society no one is condemned to die of hunger. Therefore capitalism raises the problem of the motivation of work that makes it desirable even though it is no longer essential for life. In this regard Heilbroner lists five main motivations. But if in capitalism it is possible to work with a certain degree of freedom and self-realization, Heilbroner raises the question of whether a a society without work and effortlessly subjugated is conceivable.

AbstractThe chapter in its first part presents changing understanding of leisure time in the past and currently. Major shifts have occurred in the increasing amount of free time and its democratization. The free time or leisure time is understood only just as a supplement or the rest after work; however, it has its intrinsic value, carries potential of freedom, self-realization, fun and relax. The text deals with leisure time functions and its meaning for individuals and complete family. It highlights issues that are connected with spending of leisure time. In the second part of the chapter, there are results of survey, which was mapping of family spending of free time, its amount and fulfilment. In all the surveyed countries, spending of leisure time has proved to be an important perquisite for family life satisfaction. Activities that are the most likely to be undertaken together with family members are watching TV, walks, trips, visits of friends or relatives, visits of cultural actions and social games.

Abstract:
This chapter highlights the place of romanticism and Protestantism in William Morris's socialism. His romanticism led him to seek self-realization through an art based on naturalness and harmony. His Protestantism led him to do so in the everyday worlds of work and home. Morris inherited from John Ruskin a sociology that linked self-realization in daily life to the quality of art in a society. Even when Morris turned to Marxism, he still defined his socialist vision in terms of good art produced and enjoyed within daily life. His overriding concern to promote a new spirit of art then led him to a purist rejection of political action.

This chapter explores how James Joyce’s Bildungsroman disrupts the recapitulatory plot by fusing the ostensibly primitive body to the ostensibly advanced linguistic faculties of its budding poet-protagonist, Stephen Dedalus. This fusion results in repeated reversionary digressions from the progressive movement toward artistic self-realization: the very words that Stephen seeks for his art bring him instead into the realm of the sexual and procreative body. These atavistic reversions allow Joyce’s to ironize and supply an alternative to his protagonist’s desire to separate the body from aesthetic experience and artistic maturity.

Chapters five and six focus on Wordsworth. The first part of chapter five examines Wordsworth’s problematic relationship to the eighteenth-century discourses of “the picturesque.” The remainder of the chapter explores Wordsworth’s naturalist views on culture, education, and language. Despite his general adherence to eighteenth-century universalism in human psychology, Wordsworth understands that the appreciation of beauty and sublimity in both nature and art exists universally in human nature only potentially, and that its realization presupposes culture and education. The question arises: What is Wordsworth’s naturalist idea of acculturation? Passages from his prose works show that Wordsworth’s hypothetical accounts of “natural” aesthetic education are in fact accounts of self-education constructed in strictly empirical terms.

Abstract:
Abstract This chapter describes how creative experiences are organized by YouthSites, what arts traditions they emerge from, how they changed over time, and what range of purposes they afford for participants and audiences alike. The chapter begins with an overview of forms of expression enjoyed and practiced by socially marginalized groups that influenced youth arts practices in London, Toronto, and Vancouver. It then explores how these arts practices derive from interconnections between lived experience, philosophies of self-realization, the role of community, relationality, and, above all, the relationship between making/performing/exhibiting art and social change. Key to the chapter is the way that forms of community arts reframe the relationship between audiences and practitioners, giving prominence to modes of expression as well as types and ranges of voices that are frequently excluded by the high culture tradition of the arts in both Canada and the United Kingdom.

Abstract:
Internal marketing is the new measure of success for businesses with financial profit. Internal marketing plays an important role in the full functioning and development of the company. It is the art of effectively using a company's human capital to value, motivate, and encourage employees at all levels of the organization. The article discusses the essence and importance of internal marketing, the peculiarities of its use, the measures implemented by foreign companies, and the assessment of Georgian practice. Internal marketing in Georgia is at the initial stage of development, but there is a growing interest in it from successful companies. 65 people participated in the survey. The purpose of the research was to determine the views of the employees regarding internal marketing, to find out the problems in the companies, and to determine the ways to eliminate them. As a result of the survey, it became clear that internal marketing in Georgian companies is less developed, the majority of employees are dissatisfied with their jobs, work schedule, number of vacation days, pay, and small opportunities for promotion; For most of them, it is difficult to maintain the balance of life and work, as well as the lack of self-development. The survey shows that to achieve success, Georgian companies should start taking care of internal marketing, instead of minimum incentives, insurance packages, and corporate evenings for employees, implement individual events tailored to them, which will give people the opportunity for self-realization and active work, and the job will not be just a way to get a salary. The active implementation of internal marketing in Georgian companies is a matter of time, although its importance is growing and irreplaceable. Article in Georgian.

The issues of increasing interest among young people in scientific activity not only retain their relevance, but have become increasingly acute in recent years. Today, there is a pronounced decline in the level of prestige of scientific specialties, and those who are ready to work in this field, as a rule, initially have attitudes focused on the American and European scientific markets. To attract young people to science-intensive projects, “schools”, “forums” and “conferences” are held annually, aimed at creating a favorable information environment and creating comfortable conditions for self-realization. After testing among the participants of the School for Young Scientists held in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, statistically significant differences were established, which make it possible to draw a conclusion about the effectiveness of such events in terms of youth awareness of scientific and innovative activities in general, as well as in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

Abstract:
While many studies explain the correlation between firm-level productivity and export status entirely by better firms self-selecting into exporting, a few studies find evidence of reverse causation. Especially in developing or ransition economies, exporters seem to improve performance after they start selling internationally. We provide evidence that the realization of scale conomies is one possible explanation for such a learning-by-exporting effect. Exporting enables small firms to expand output and exploit all scale economies that the production technology allows. With access to finance problems and weak contract enforcement at home, domestic expansion of SMEs is constrained by the necessity of awarding trade credit to new clients. We show that small firms with a lot of outstanding trade credit expand sales the most following export market entry. This is especially true if they operate in industries with higher scale economies or if they are located in provinces with weaker institutions. The same type of firms also enjoy the largest productivity gains immediately following export market entry.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to youth preparation for family life issue and the necessity in gender approach application for this issue in the domestic scientific discourse. The relevance of the problem in gender aspect is highlighted from the perspective of the working group of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine development of “Strategy of Gender Equality in Education”. Based on references to the publications of educators and psychologists, it was concluded that scientists consider the problem of youth preparation for family life, mainly from the point of psychological readiness of young men and women to fulfill marital obligations. In the pedagogical aspect, scientists focus on creating pedagogical conditions and using the system of educational influences on the formation of youth readiness to start a family. The analysis of the views presented in the scientific discourse on the youth preparation for family life issue gave us grounds to find a few contradictions between the psychological and pedagogical consideration of the problem and the modern life realities. Traditional notions of the family are in significant transformation state. The approaches proposed by psychological and pedagogical thought are aimed to preserve traditional notions of the family which do not stand the test of time. In the system of youth preparation for family life, the authors identified a few gender issues: education according to traditional role behavior models, the effect of hidden curriculum in education, pressure on girls about marriage, the system of requirements for the role and "place" of women in the family according to her status (daughter, wife, daughter-in-law, mother), etc. It is suggested that science should be more flexible on this issue and should propose models and approaches that ensure the sustainable development of the State (including in demographic terms) while guaranteeing fundamental rights and freedoms, including the right to free development and self-realization without discriminatory restrictions

Jury, William A., and David Russo. Characterization of Field-Scale Solute Transport in Spatially Variable Unsaturated Field Soils. United States Department of Agriculture, January 1994. http://dx.doi.org/10.32747/1994.7568772.bard.

Full text
Abstract:
This report describes activity conducted in several lines of research associated with field-scale water and solute processes. A major effort was put forth developing a stochastic continuum analysis for an important class of problems involving flow of reactive and non reactive chemicals under steady unsaturated flow. The field-scale velocity covariance tensor has been derived from local soil properties and their variability, producing a large-scale description of the medium that embodies all of the local variability in a statistical sense. Special cases of anisotropic medium properties not aligned along the flow direction of spatially variable solute sorption were analysed in detail, revealing a dependence of solute spreading on subtle features of the variability of the medium, such as cross-correlations between sorption and conductivity. A novel method was developed and tested for measuring hydraulic conductivity at the scale of observation through the interpretation of a solute transport outflow curve as a stochastic-convective process. This undertaking provided a host of new K(q) relationships for existing solute experiments and also laid the foundation for future work developing a self-consistent description of flow and transport under these conditions. Numerical codes were developed for calculating K(q) functions for a variety of solute pulse outflow shapes, including lognormal, Fickian, Mobile-Immobile water, and bimodal. Testing of this new approach against conventional methodology was mixed, and agreed most closely when the assumptions of the new method were met. We conclude that this procedure offers a valuable alternative to conventional methods of measuring K(q), particularly when the application of the method is at a scale (e.g. and agricultural field) that is large compared to the common scale at which conventional K(q) devices operate. The same problem was approached from a numerical perspective, by studying the feasibility of inverting a solute outflow signal to yield the hydraulic parameters of the medium that housed the experiment. We found that the inverse problem was solvable under certain conditions, depending on the amount of noise in the signal and the degree of heterogeneity in the medium. A realistic three dimensional model of transient water and solute movement in a heterogeneous medium that contains plant roots was developed and tested. The approach taken was to generate a single realization of this complex flow event, and examine the results to see whether features were present that might be overlooked in less sophisticated model efforts. One such feature revealed is transverse dispersion, which is a critically important component in the development of macrodispersion in the longitudinal direction. The lateral mixing that was observed greatly exceeded that predicted from simpler approaches, suggesting that at least part of the important physics of the mixing process is embedded in the complexity of three dimensional flow. Another important finding was the observation that variability can produce a pseudo-kinetic behavior for solute adsorption, even when the local models used are equilibrium.
