Abstract:
The article provides a brief theoretical overview of studies of self-application by Russian psychologists, it discusses the problem of the phenomenon of self-acceptance as a subject characteristic. The author formulates paradoxes in the study of this phenomenon – destructive popular understanding of the phenomenon of self-acceptance, with the phrase "I am what I am and I will not be different" narrowing the range of activity of a particular person and reflecting the understanding of self-application as the opposite of development. The following paradox of the phenomenon of self-acceptance the author defines a predominantly positive understanding of self-acceptance while avoiding the negative experience of the personality, its features having a negative emotional colour. The problem is the differentiation of conditional and unconditional self-acceptance in the practical activity of the psychologist, when the demonstrated high level of self-acceptance can indicate both the presence of positive attitude of the individual towards himself and the presence of certain protective mechanisms that distort the results of research. Differentiation of conditional and unconditional self-acceptance is possible with indirect investigation of other personality features. Thus, the phenomenon of self-acceptance is presented not only as an integral personality characteristic, contributing to internal comfort, positive assessment of itself, but also as a subject characteristic, activating processes of self-awareness, contributing to further self-improvement of personality. The author defines unconditional self-acceptance in terms of a subject-matter approach.

Abstract:
Despite enthusiastic speculation about the potential benefits of self-driving cars, to date little is known about the factors that will affect drivers’ acceptance or rejection of this emerging technology. Gaining acceptance from end users will be critical to the widespread deployment of self-driving vehicles. Long-term acceptance may be harmed if initial acceptance is built upon unrealistic expectations developed before people interact with these systems. A brief (24-item) measurement scale was created to assess acceptance of self-driving cars. Before completing the scale, participants were randomly assigned to read short vignettes that featured either a realistic or an idealistic description of a friend’s experiences during the first six months of owning a self-driving car. A small but significant effect showed that reading an idealized portrayal in the vignette resulted in higher acceptance of self-driving cars. Potential factors affecting user acceptance of self-driving cars are discussed. Establishing realistic expectations about the performance of automation before users interact with self-driving cars may be important for long-term acceptance.

Abstract:
The article gives a brief theoretical review of studies of self-acceptance phenomenon by Russian and foreign psychologists. The author highlights the problem of the shift in understanding the concept of self-acceptance as an active process in favor passive self-acceptance, which often leads to intrapersonal regress, personality stagnation. The study focused on self-acceptance in the context of a subject-based approach. Based on the main provisions about a subject, in accordance with transforming activities of a subject, the author identified two types of self-acceptance – passive and active one. The author points out that it is active self-acceptance that is an actor’s attribute, and is related to such features of a subject as subject’s activity, integrity, autonomy, self-value. The empirical study has revealed the relation of self-acceptance to a general level of the development of personal agency and subject’s attributes.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This paper reviews research on the impact of socioeconomic status (SES) on self-acceptance and self-esteem. It defines self-esteem as an individual's overall evaluation of their self-worth. Self-acceptance refers to positively accepting one's self-perceptions and experiences without judgment. Research shows SES is positively associated with self-esteem, likely because higher SES provides more resources to fulfil needs for competence and self-worth. Low SES is linked to lower self-esteem due to greater exposure to stressors and fewer resources to cope. Moreover, self-esteem is positively related to self-acceptance, as believing in one's self-worth facilitates accepting oneself. Furthermore, SES may also directly predict self-acceptance by enabling needs satisfaction. Additionally, self-esteem may mediate the relationship between SES and self-acceptance, such that SES influences self-acceptance through its impact on self-esteem. The paper calls for longitudinal research analyzing the relationships among SES, self-esteem, and self-acceptance across development and diverse populations. It also advocates testing causality through experiments. This research has implications for interventions targeting self-esteem and self-acceptance to improve psychological health.

Abstract:
This reflective, autoethnographic qualitative case study at focus in this article is based on broader research on the experiences of Black teachers working at predominantly white and affluent private schools in the United States. It was motivated by the author/researcher’s own experiences of personal, academic, and professional racial identity development as a student, educator, parent, and educational administrator while living and working in predominantly white and affluent communities. The two main research questions this study engaged were: (1) How did the author/researcher develop her Black identity as a transracial adoptee living at the intersection of race and class; and, (2) What was the author/researcher’s journey towards her present state of racial self-acceptance and understanding? Three ancillary research questions were also engaged: (a) How did social and societal factors influence the author/researcher’s racial identity development? (b) How did the author/researcher build a support network of personal and professional community? and, (c) How was the author/researcher able to get to a place of self-love? Using Hill Collins’ (1998) intersectional analysis framework and Cross’s (1991) theory of Black racial identity development, this article explores the author/researcher’s experiences as an affluent racialized minority by unpacking lived experiences, coping strategies, and support mechanisms that led to her current professional calling.

AbstractThis commentary describes another variety of self-deception, highly relevant to von Hippel & Trivers's (VH&T's) project. Drawing on dual-process theories, I propose that conscious thinking is a voluntary activity motivated by metacognitive attitudes, and that our choice of reasoning strategies and premises may be biased by unconscious desires to self-deceive. Such biased reasoning could facilitate interpersonal deception, in line with VH&T's view.

Abstract:
Acceptance of the self, others and the environment is a force for personal change that has its origins in many eastern and western cultures. The benefits of accepting are described by many cultures through religious literatures (New Testament, Tao Te Ching, Buddhist Scriptures, Bhagavad Gita or "The Divine Song", Yoga Sutras of Patañjali), philosophical (Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus, Keirkegaard, Krishnamurti, Lao Tzu, Watts), as well as in other various literary forms such as romance (Austen), modernism (Nabok), realism (Tolstoy), poetry or theater (Shakespeare). Acceptance requires a person to tolerate experiences as given; otherwise, simply someone will only pursue pleasure, run away from pain and be prone to judge experiences. The Stoics (Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus, Seneca) appreciated the ability to tolerate or willingly resist experiences, because it increases the degree of self-control, of detachment without emotion and develops indifference to pleasure and pain. Since acceptance involves contact with reality as it is at a certain moment, it is necessary to be able to remain present and aware even when the available stimuli are less desirable. Consequently, tolerance can be considered a skill through which we can remain present and experience anything that happens completely.

Abstract:
the background of this research is the instability and immaturity of self-acceptance possessed by class VII students at SMP Negeri 9 Depok which is caused by a lack of self-confidence so that they show a tendency to be passive, shy about expressing their difficulties in learning, afraid to accept criticism and feel inferior to the condition he has, which ends up causing him to find it difficult to achieve happiness in life. The method used in this research is correlational research with a quantitative approach. The research sample was 122 students. The results of this study have a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.720 with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) which indicates that there is a strong positive correlation between self-acceptance and the happiness of class VII students at SMP Negeri 9 Depok. This indicates that the higher the level of self-acceptance, the higher the happiness level of class VII students at SMP Negeri 9 Depok. Conversely, the lower the level of self-acceptance, the lower the happiness level of class VII students at SMP Negeri 9 Depok.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of unconditional self-acceptance and self-exposure of trainees on the post-traumatic growth and to develop a program to achieve post-traumatic growth beyond the previous level without suffering from psychopathological consequences such as post-traumatic stress disorder I wanted to help. For this purpose, unconditional self-acceptance, self-exposure, and Korean post-traumatic growth scale were used. First, it was confirmed that unconditional self-acceptance and self-exposure of firefighters are correlated with post-traumatic growth. Second, hierarchical regression analysis showed that unconditional self-acceptance has more influence on self-acceptance and post-traumatic growth than self-acceptance of firefighters. Based on the results of this study, we propose the program development and therapeutic intervention strategies to promote post-traumatic growth of firefighters.

Abstract:
Abstract Many individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, and with other non-heterosexual orientations (LGBQ+) experience stigma, prejudice, and/or discrimination because of their sexuality. According to minority stress and identity development theories, these experiences can contribute to difficulties with self-acceptance of sexuality. Lower self-acceptance is considered a risk factor for adverse mental health outcomes. The current review aims to investigate whether self-acceptance of sexuality is associated with minority stressors or difficulties with mental health in LGBQ+ individuals, as well as whether there are differences in self-acceptance between different sexual orientations. Five bibliographic databases were searched. Thirteen studies were identified which used quantitative methodology to investigate associations between self-acceptance, minority stressors, and/or mental health within LGBQ+ samples, or differences in self-acceptance between different sexual orientations. The results from these cross-sectional studies suggested that lower self-acceptance of sexuality was associated with higher levels of self-reported minority stressors, including a lack of acceptance from friends and family, a lack of disclosure to others, and internalized heterosexism. Lower self-acceptance of sexuality was associated with poorer mental health outcomes, including greater global distress, depression symptoms, and lower psychological well-being. There was no significant relationship with suicidality. Studies also found that LGBQ+ individuals had lower general self-acceptance compared to heterosexual participants, bisexual individuals had lower sexuality self-acceptance compared to lesbian/gay individuals, and lesbian women had lower sexuality self-acceptance compared to gay men. Given the potential importance of self-acceptance for LGBQ+ populations, further research is required with more robust methodology. Self-acceptance could be a potential target in clinical interventions for LGBQ+ individuals.

Abstract:
In experimental psychology, the problem of non-acceptance of oneself, one’s environment, and the world around is one of the relevant issues. The author notes that the accepted in contemporary society popular opinions associated with self-acceptance often have manipulative or prescriptive nature and are the negative attitudes blocking the person activity and leading to its stagnation. The resolution of the stereotyped image of this phenomenon is possible from the perspective of historical-theoretical analysis of the study of self-acceptance. The paper presents various approaches to the understanding of self-acceptance by foreign and Russian psychologists within such psychology areas as neofreidism, gestalt-psychology, existential, and humanistic psychology. The author considers the changes in the study of self-acceptance, notes that despite different views of classical psychologists on the understanding of this phenomenon, they define self-acceptance as an active process promoting self-improvement and self-actualization of a person. This fact conflicts with the latent meaning of widespread life theses on self-acceptance. The paper emphasizes the possibility to study self-acceptance from the perspective of the subject approach as a phenomenon initiating the activity of a person in organization and regulation of own life activities, promoting further development of a person, its self-actualization. The author considers the controversial characteristics of self-acceptance as a subject characteristic: self-acceptance allows changing from self-understanding to self-improvement, at the same time, the high level of self-acceptance requires a particular level of development of the personal agency. The author notes the paradoxical understanding of the self-acceptance phenomenon largely within the frames of positive self-attitude, which can promote the “Self” image idealism and lead to intrapersonal regress.

Objectives The purposes of this study were to analyze the mediating effect of unconditional self-acceptance be-tween rational and irrational beliefs and unconditional acceptance of life. Methods To this end, a survey was conducted on 750 adults in the metropolitan area from October 2022 to December 2022 to measure rational/irrational beliefs, unconditional acceptance of life, and unconditional self-ac-ceptance, and 684 copies were used for analysis. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, reli-ability analysis, correlation analysis, and mediation analysis. Results First, the correlation analysis results showed that the relationships between rational beliefs, unconditional self-acceptance, and unconditional acceptance of life all had a positive correlation, while irrational beliefs were found to have a negative correlation with unconditional self-acceptance and unconditional acceptance of life. appear. Second, the partial mediating effect of unconditional self-acceptance was significant in the relationship between rational beliefs and unconditional acceptance of life. Third, the partial mediating effect of unconditional self-acceptance was significant in the relationship between irrational beliefs and unconditional acceptance of life. Conclusions By analyzing the relationship and mediating effect between rational and irrational beliefs, uncondi-tional acceptance of life, and unconditional self-acceptance, this study expands unconditional self-acceptance in the process of refuting irrational beliefs and replacing them with rational beliefs. It is significant in that it suggests a path to increase satisfaction.

Abstract:
With the deep integration of ICT into education and teaching, the effect of technology acceptance on students’ self-directed learning has been one of the key concerns in the education field. This study examines the relationship between technology acceptance and self-directed learning and the mediating role played by positive emotions and technological self-efficacy in a sample of 501 middle school students in eastern China. The results show that: (1) positive emotions mediate the relationship between technology acceptance and self-directed learning; (2) technological self-efficacy also mediates the relationship between technology acceptance and self-directed learning; (3) positive emotions and technological self-efficacy play a mediating role between technology acceptance and self-directed learning. The findings not only reveal the mediating role of positive emotions and technological self-efficacy between technology acceptance and self-directed learning but are also valuable for Chinese teachers to guide middle school students to engage in self-directed learning with the help of technology.
