Abstract:
Kinorhynchs rarely show a wide distribution pattern, due to their putatively low dispersal capabilities and/or limited sampling efforts. In this study, a new kinorhynch species is described,Echinoderespterussp. n., which shows a geographically and bathymetrically wide distribution, occurring on the Karasik Seamount and off the Svalbard Islands (Arctic Ocean), on the Sedlo Seamount (northeast Atlantic Ocean), and on the deep-sea floor off Crete and on the Anaximenes Seamount (Mediterranean Sea), at a depth range of 675–4,403 m. The new species is characterized by a combination of middorsal acicular spines on segments 4–8, laterodorsal tubes on segment 10, lateroventral tubes on segment 5, lateroventral acicular spines on segments 6–9, tufts of long hairs rising from slits in a laterodorsal position on segment 9, truncated tergal extensions on segment 11, and the absence of any type-2 gland cell outlet. The specimens belonging to the populations from the Arctic Ocean, the Sedlo Seamount, and the Mediterranean Sea show morphological variation in the thickness and length of the spines as well as in the presence/absence of ventromedial sensory spots on segment 7. The different populations are regarded as belonging to a single species because of their overlapping variable characters.

Abstract:
Two new species of Echinoderes from the Eratosthenes Seamount and a deep-sea station near the Sedlo Seamount are described. Echinoderes multiporus sp. nov. from the Eratosthenes Seamount is characterized by a combination of the presence of middorsal acicular spines on segments 4, 6, and 8, ventrolateral tubes on segment 2, lateroventral tubes on segment 5, lateroventral acicular spines on segments 6–9, midlateral tubes on segment 10, and type-2 glandular cell outlets in subdorsal position on segment 2 and in laterodorsal position on segments 4–9. Echinoderes unispinosus sp. nov. from the deep-sea station differs from its congeners by the combination of middorsal acicular spine on segment 4, lateroventral acicular spines on segments 6 and 7, type-2 glandular cell outlets present in midlateral position on segment 1, in subdorsal, laterodorsal, sublateral, and ventrolateral position on segment 2, in lateral accessory position on segment 5, and in sublateral position on segment 8, and densely aligned pectinate fringe teeth of the primary pectinate fringes similar in width on segments 1–10. In addition, the morphological data of two undescribed species from the Anaximenes Seamount and a deep-sea station near the Sedlo Seamount are given. An undescribed species from the Anaximenes Seamount is morphologically similar to Echinoderes unispinosus sp. nov., but differs in the smaller trunk length, the presence of broader pectinate fringe teeth of the primary pectinate fringe on segment 1, and the absence of ventromedial sensory spots on segment 8. Another undescribed species from the deep-sea station differs from its congeners in the pattern of spines, tubes, and type-2 glandular cell outlets and length of middorsal and lateral terminal spines. New names are not given to both undescribed species in this study, because only one specimen is available for each species, and both of the specimens were damaged during the preparation.

Abstract:
We examined the localities and sites of the Mediterranean thermophyte Ruscus aculeatus in the southwestern part of the Julian Alps and confirmed its relatively frequent occurrence in the hilly and submontane belts up to 980 m a.s.l. It occurs predominantly on sunny aspects, gentle to very steep slopes and very stony (rocky) sites, in very different soil types and plant communities of deciduous forests, mainly with predominating tree species of Fraxinus excelsior, Carpinus betulus, Fagus sylvatica and Ostrya carpinifolia. Its northernmost sites known in Slovenia are in pioneer forests on abandoned agricultural areas in Breginjski Kot between Borjana and Sedlo, and on rockslide under the Polovnik ridge (Morizna), and are presumably younger in origin. Given the climate change (warming) in the last decades it is expected to spread further into the mountains (including the Bovec region). Abstract:
Abstract The middle Eocene (Lutetian) fossil plant assemblage from Tatabánya (N Hungary) comprises plant remains preserved mostly as impressions. Remains of angiosperms are represented by Lauraceae (Laurophyllum div. sp., Daphnogene Unger), Rhamnaceae (Ziziphus Miller), Malvaceae s.l. (Byttneriopsis Z.Kvaček et Wilde), Leguminosae, and Palmae, and the occurrence of other families, i.e., Dioscoreaceae, Myrtaceae, Fagaceae, Anacardiaceae, Berberidaceae, Juglandaceae, and Theaceae, is uncertain. The scarcity of gymnosperms is a character similar to the coeval floras of Csordakút (N Hungary) and Girbou in Romania. The presence of Ziziphus ziziphoides (Unger) Weyland, high number of linear shaped leaves with entire margin and coriaceous texture (Lauraceae vel Fagaceae), and small-leaved Leguminosae suggests a “subhumid” character of the vegetation, which is recognisable also in early Palaeogene floras of eastern Central and Southeastern Europe, e.g., the Tard Clay floras in Hungary and floras of Serbia/Macedonia. In contrast, the Eocene floras from Central/Western Europe are indicative of a generally non-xerophytic character, e.g., Staré Sedlo in Bohemia, Messel, Geiseltal, and the Weisselster Basin floras in Germany. A frost-free climate with high mean annual temperatures similar to that estimated for coeval European floras may also be inferred for the Tatabánya flora.

Abstract:
Two new species of Dorsiceratus Drzycimski, 1967 (Copepoda, Harpacticoida, Ancorabolidae), Dorsiceratus wilhelminae sp. nov. and D. dinah sp. nov. are described from Sedlo and Seine Seamounts, respectively (both northeast Atlantic). These are the first records of Dorsiceratus species from seamount summits. Both new species resemble the described species D. octocornis Drzycimski, 1967, D. triarticulatus Coull, 1973, and D. ursulae George, 2006, with respect to most morphological features. On the other hand, D. wilhelminae sp. nov. has long spinules at the inner margin of the A2 enp, while D. dinah sp. nov. bears two, rather than one, tubepores dorsally on third abdominal somite, and a geniculate first outer seta on P1 exp2. These characters are considered as apomorphic relative to the described Dorsiceratus species. As discussed in the present paper, the maintenance of a genus Dorsiceratus appears to be problematic. Although specimens may be assigned without difficulty to a group “Dorsiceratus”, such assignments are based on diagnostic features only; no clear-cut apomorphies have been detected so far to characterize the monophyly of Dorsiceratus. Just two apomorphic characters appear to be synapomorphies for all of the described Dorsiceratus species: 1) P2 enp2 with one rather than two setae and 2) P4 exp sexually dimorphic. Unfortunately, these features are relatively widespread within the Ceratonotus-group sensu Conroy-Dalton (2001) and therefore of rather low value. The authors decided, however, to retain the genus Dorsiceratus until new insights provide more information to support or disprove that hypothesis.

Abstract This paper deals with several entries of the recent Slovak etymological dictionary Stručný etymologický slovník slovenčiny (2015) from the point of view of Winter’s Law. From this point of view, boh [God] (and, as the case may be, chod [motion, movement]) should have been originally borrowed from Iranian, koza [goat] should be regarded as a borrowing from Altaic languages, and sedlo1 [ settlement] as well as sedlo2 [seat] as borrowings from Germanic. Moreover, from the point of view of Winter’s Law, the etymological interpretation of modrý [blue] and nevesta [bride] should be considered as too broad and the one of pôjd [loft] as inaccurate.

Abstract:
AbstractFounded in 1892 and now containing ca. 11,000 pieces, the Yalta museum draws on pre-Revolutionary private collections, especially of Classical objects obtained locally and abroad, as well as on objects associated with the Mountain and Southern regions of the Crimea, acquired more systematically as a result of archaeological excavations and chance finds in the region. The most important pre-Revolutionary collection, that of Grand Prince Alexander Mikhajlovich, still contains-despite the destruction of WW II-more than 50 amphoras and 500 other ceramic pieces, especially of Archaic Corinthian and Samian ware. The museum houses many finds from pre-War excavations, e.g. from the Balim-Kosh site (ca. 20,000 Neolithic artefacts) and from the Roman legionary fortress at Charax. The creation after WW II of an Archaeological Department of the Museum has led to a 5-fold increase in the size of its collection. This now includes finds from late classical and early medieval burial grounds (Aj-Todor, Alushta, Druzhnoe, Verkhynaya Oreandal, the Gothic necropolis near Goluboj Zaliv, and the Mesolithic complex of Cape of Trinity I. The most important addition has been of more than 5000 objects from the sanctuary excavated in the past decade at the pass of Gurzufskoe Sedlo, which was in use from the Stone Age to the late Middle Ages. Its heyday was 1st cent. B.C.-1st cent. A.D. and from this period date the overwhelming majority of finds of bronze and silver statuettes, glass, metal instruments, ceramics, arms and coins. Such material provides a rare insight into all of the main phases of Crimean history and coins and other objects from the site have formed the subject of a recent exhibition in the museum.

PROPOSAL OF ENVIRONMENTAL LABELLING AS INDICATOR OF THE HIDRIC EFICIENCY OF WATER TAPS ABSTRACT This work has the objective of proposing an environmental label of water efficiency for faucets. It is based on the observation that water is a finite and fundamental resource for the maintenance of life and that inadequate anthropic actions regarding its preservation and management have led to water crises, especially in large urban centers. The water efficiency of national taps is discussed and it is proposed to adopt a seal to be stamped on its packaging. The labeling of faucets aims to inform the population, in an objective and clear way, the volume of water consumed, giving the consumer subsidies for a conscious choice as to the equipment to be purchased. It is concluded that the adoption of environmental labeling, through the proposed water seal, can be an important instrument for the rational use of water. Keywords: Environmental labeling. Tap. Abstract:
This paper views to describe the Villaggio Eni, located in Borca di Cadore and designed by Edoardo Gellner in the 50's, as one of the most important examples of mountain architecture, and a unique case study about concurrent designing of the buildings - especially the Colony - and the community hosted in them, from the master plan to details. The Children camp is considered a summary of the architect's entire work. Many ideas about the use of wood, stone - materials belonging to the local traditional technique of construction - and cast-in-place or precast concrete are carried out in the children's camp. In particular, different concrete formworks were used to obtain different patterns and textures. and the use of modular precast concrete led to multi-scale shapes and numerous combination options. These solutions aimed at blending in of the artificial elements with nature into an unspoilt environment. Starting from these premises, the aim is to analyse the planning, technical and formal decisions made in the Children camp in relation to the post Second World-War debates on prefabrication - especially regarding the INA-CASA house building - and the new language for alpine architecture.

Abstract:
THE FISH HAVE TO PAY DEARLY AS WELL The representations of animals and vegetarianism in the works of Herman Heijermans and other socially engaged writers of the fin de siècle At the end of the nineteenth century, the perception of animals changed significantly due to the theory of evolution and other new ideas, which also affected a number of Dutch socialist-leaning writers. Utilizing the framework of literary animal studies, this article investigates how animals were represented in their works. Most of the examined writers present animals as sentient beings, which is also ref lected by their speaking out in favour of vegetarianism. Herman Heijermans takes a more ambivalent position: some of his writings show the possibility of animal agency, whereas in others, animals are subordinate to people’s needs and are objectified.

Abstract:

Abstract:
