Abstract:
Murray (1828-1917) was an emissary of God. In the Dutch Reformed Church in South Africa, where he served as a full time minister for fifty eight years, he was elected Moderator six times. His influence, however, was not limited to the Dutch Reformed Church. Of the two hundred and fifty books (more than 20 000 pages) he wrote, some were translated into more than twenty languages. In spite of his intention not to write theological works, Murray was granted a doctorate degree in Theology by the University of Aberdeen in 1898. He was a man of prayer who published approximately thirty books about prayer. Murray, a mystic and peifectionist, was reared in an extremely legalistic home. As a student he joined the Secor Dabar association which was an offspring of the legalistic Reveil movement in the first half of the nineteenth century. At the age of roundabout 65, Murray was impressed by the writings of William Law (1686-1761), which fitted his mindset like a glove. But who was Andrew Murray actually? Other similar questions concerning his influence in the Dutch Reformed Church are equally important. First and foremost however: Who was this man? Was he possibly a "tossed salad" theologian? Still today we find traces of Murrayism in the Dutch Reformed Church. Fortunately his full-time service of fifty eight years has left behind a positive heritage of Scottish Calvinism.

Abstract:
Combretum micranthum (kinkeliba) is one of the most used medicinal plants in Senegal. However, its commercialization is poorly studied. The objective of this study is to analyze the commercialization of Combretum micranthum in Senegal. The study was carried out in two main regions of kinkeliba marketing in Senegal: Dakar, where kinkeliba is marketed; and Thies, where kinkeliba is produced and marketed. Structured and unstructured surveys were administered to different categories of stakeholders: herbalists / traditional practitioners, collectors/ suppliers, retailers and consumers. Production sites that supply Dakar include the following: Diass, Sindia, Kiniabour, Pout, Thies Lalane. The main sales points in Dakar are the Thiaroye and Grand Yoff markets. The kinkeliba marketing chain has short channels and women are the main stakeholders. Procurement is done by harvesting in the natural environment and by purchase for herbalists / traditional practitioners. The benefits and added value derived from the marketing of kinkeliba are positive and are increasingly evolving from producers to retailers. The kinkeliba chain, with its constraints and especially its strengths, requires better structuring and to be better known. Keywords: Combretum micranthum, kinkeliba, commercialization, value chain, Senegal.

Abstract:
According to the constitutional mandate, it is obligatory to provide education for citizens. To provide quality education, a large amount of funding is needed. The education budget of 20% of the APBN is not sufficient to provide education for all citizens who have the right to education. The private sector is expected to participate in providing education. The government provides financial assistance to support private schools that need it. The research was conducted qualitative methods. Data collection was carried out through literature study, then completed with interviews and observations, to see the conditions that occurred. Funding sources for basic level formal education institutions consist of school tuition, government assistance (BOS) and assistance from the community. However, not all elementary schools can take advantage of these three sources of funding. Public schools do not charge tution, there are private schools that have not or have not yet received BOS. Based on these sources of funds, schools prepare estimates of cash receipts and disbursements. Then a pro forma balance statement is prepared, to see the profit or loss that will be experienced. After that, schools already have budget implementation guidelines or RAPBS.

Abstract:
The antiquity of artisanal weaving is hardly in doubt in Africa and particularly in the Senegal Valley if one relies on Arab sources including El Bekri. From this encounter with the Arab world, some of the functions of the loincloth appeared such as its use as currency in addition to its primary role which is clothing. But, more than these functions, the loincloth acquires in the imagination of African populations, so many others. This explains its omnipresence in many moments or events in the social life of populations. But this good presence that the woven loincloth has had in African societies has not always been the case. With the Industrial Revolution in the West, the European fabrics introduced into the continent dealt a fatal blow to local fabrics, especially in coastal areas. These conditions of the local loincloth persisted when it happened that the raw material was coveted by the industrial sector; as can also be envisaged when local markets were recently invaded by foreign textile products. In Senegal, to this day, this economic activity, which also bears witness to an ancestral heritage of know-how, faces major difficulties. Handicraft weaving is thus quite simply under the threat of disappearance. In view of all the traditional technical ingenuity and the place of the traditional loincloth in African and particularly Senegalese societies, initiating safeguarding strategies is justified. It is this company that is leading this study devoted to it which, in addition to having addressed the technical devices fitted out for its practice, proposes a set of measures such as patrimonialization.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis examines the links between urban areas and non-institutional recycling in two African capitals : Dakar, Senegal and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. These connections are studied regarding the current state of modernisation of these metropolises, which have been going green and above all keeping it clean and became models of development. Most of the studies are about the lacks and the flaws of the bureaucratic management of the urban transit. This research focuses on recycling, which they see as resource. The latter, more and more promoted in the North, is a way of handling the rubbish that puts more value into it. As for the South and in those two capitals in particular, recycling is the hands of the informal sector and households. In this case, this thesis aims to understand through informal recycling how rubbish plays a part in the creation of territories and the current expansions of Dakar and Addis Ababa. The spatial dimension of the procedure is studied through the analysis and the links of what we call “rubbish spots” (rubbish tips, the waste market) are considered marginal. The comparison and qualitative field surveys (questionnaires and interviews) sho how recycling is developed, its specific features and the regional dynamism coming out of it. This thesis shows that the latter can barely be part of the new urban deal and that they have negative interference with the current regulations attempt. By revisiting the platform of the informal, this job questions the possible developments for – and the risks taken – for a fundamental process to trun rubbish into an urban resource on the African continent

Mereka masih digolongkan sebagai the most marginalized sector of society. Abstract:
AbstractThe implementation of innovative, bottom-up and tailor-made sustainable energy solutions in local communities is a fundamental game-changer in countries’ energy transition agendas. Challenges related to energy governance and the action to mitigate global warming require these communities to play a leading role through increased involvement in local energy initiatives. Municipalities can play this role at different levels, as a bridge between the private sector, the development agencies and the local communities, throughout the sector value chain from energy production to end-use consumption, using locally available renewable energy resources. The study was carried out in the city of Dakar, Senegal, where data on energy behaviour were collected through a survey. The main conclusion drawn from the study is municipalities can lead the transition to energy sustainability with the support of resident communities. However, this requires a policy framework that defines the municipalities’ scope of action, which is currently missing.

Abstract:
Abstract Much recent economic development, controlled by a centralized administration, has largely bypassed Ziguinchor, which is isolated from Dakar by the tiny state of Gambia. The resultant feeling of neglect and a prolonged drought that severely affected the rice production in this semitropical region has led to sporadic civil unrest. The EPOC study was carried out in a quiescent period, as the urbanized sections of the town were expanding into the still-cultivated fields enclosed within the municipal boundaries. The seasonality of agriculture was matched in the street food sector, as many women who perform most of the agricultural labor sold peanuts and other crops on the street. As in Nigeria, separate budgets mean that women must contribute food or money to the household. Household surveys reveal the differential spending patterns of women and men in their predominantly polygynous living arrangements. Ethnic differences in women’s work and in products sold on the street document the importance of culture in everyday life. As we are unable to revisit Ziguinchor, the focus on current trends examines street foods in Dakar, where many people from Ziguinchor have migrated; their remittances are essential to maintaining families at home.

Abstract:
Senegal is one of the most stable and democratic countries in Africa. It has enjoyed multi-party rule for decades. There is substantial freedom of the press, and Dakar is one of the safest large cities in Africa. The economy has done less well. The oil shock of 1975 and the subsequent debt crisis led to a steady decline. The economy grew strongly for some years around the turn of the millennium. However there was little structural change, and the rural economy remained dependent on vulnerable rain-fed crops. While many African countries experienced a commodity-driven boom, the Senegalese economy slowed down. Today Senegal has a diversified economy driven by services—led by telecommunications and finance. In the secondary sector, construction has been the most dynamic, and the mining sector has gradually expanded.

Abstract:

Abstract:
