Perkembangan teknologi informasi yang semakin berkembang sampai saat ini banyak diterapkan kepada perusahaan besar maupun yang kecil. Namun, masih ada beberapa yang tidak menerapkan hal ini salah satunya adalah rumah makan Babacakan Sate Maranggi yang masih secara manual mengolah data menggunakan Microsoft excel. Sistem yang masih manual ini menyebabkan sering terjadinya kesalahan yang ada. Sehingga peneliti berkeinginan untuk membuat perancangan sistem informasi penjualan pada Babacakan Sate Maranggi yang terkomputerisasi agar pengolahan data, kegiatan transaksi dan perekapan data menjadi lebih efektif dan efisien. Dengan adanya sistem yang terkomputerisasi ini dapat memaksimalkan pendataan yang ada pada Babacakan Sate Maranggi dikarenakan data tersimpan ke dalam database. Proses transaksipun dapat dengan mudah dilakukan sehingga dapat menghemat banyak waktu. Perselisihan data yang biasa terjadi antara barang keluar dengan transaksi penjualan dapat dicegah sehingga memungkinkan melakukan pendataan secara maksimal dengan penggunaan sistem yang terkomputerisasi. Dan juga meminimalisir kesalahan yang ada pada Babacakan Sate Maranggi. Sistem informasi penjualan ini memudahkan para pegawai dalam melakukan perekapan data yang akurat sehingga pembuatan laporan akan menjadi lebih efektif dan juga efisien karena data yang tersimpan ke dalam database secara otomatis dapat dicetak. Pencarian data yang dibutuhkan akan lebih mudah dilakukan dan meminimalisir terjadinya kehilangan data yang dapat merugikan rumah makan.

Efek terjadi Covid 2019 telah mempengaruh ekonomi secara lokal maupun nasional termasuk pada sektor UMKM termasuk didalamnya pada sektor kuliner dengan menurunya jumlah penjualan, penurunan produk dan tenaga kerja. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi pemasaran UMKM Sate Bebek Di Tambak Banyumas. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis SWOT dengan mengunakan Diagram IFA dan EFE dengan menggunakan 3 sampel usaha pada penjual sate bebek. Hasil dari kajian ini adalah bahwa UMKM Kuliner Sate Bebek semakin kompetitif, adanya peningkatan daya saing dengan adanya peningkatan pada promosi yang dilakukan pemilik, pada posisi Growth Oriented Strategy dengan mendukung kebijakan pertumbuhan yang agresif dan ke-3 usaha yang diteliti pada posisi kuadran pertama, menunjukkan bahwa usaha mereka berada di posisi yang sangat baik, mampu memanfaatkan berbagai peluang yang muncul untuk terus berkembang, tumbuh dan mencapai kemajuan yang maksimal

Klatak satay is an iconic food originating from the Bantul Regency of Yogyakarta. Sate klatak was named the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Indonesia in 2019 by the Ministry of Education and Culture. As an Intangible Cultural Heritage, satay klatak needs to be preserved so that the regeneration process continues and its existence remains sustainable. Tourists coming to eat Sate Klatak have various motivations. The purpose of this study is to review the motivation, perception, post-consumption behaviour of domestic tourists Sate Klatak East Imogiri, Yogyakarta. This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The data collection technique is by distributing online questionnaires via WhatsApp and Instagram. The results showed that the biggest motivation for tourists to consume satay klatak Imogiri was recommendations from friends and relatives. Furthermore, Sate Klatak East Imogiri is incredibly well-received because of its popularity, taste, and appearance. Tourists also show satisfaction in post-consumption behavior, namely, returning and recommending it to relatives. The theoretical implication of this study is that these three variables can be used as indicators of local culinary evaluation. Meanwhile, as a practical implication, the research results can be used as suggestions for local culinary development in destinations, especially Sate Klatak East Imogiri

UKM Awal Putra Mandiri is an activist for the city of Serang's superior product Sate Bandeng so that it can develop by seeing a sustainable business opportunity by exploiting existing potential. UMKM Sate Bandeng Awal Putra Mandiri, is one of the UMKMs that provides Sate Bandeng products and has product supplies at the national level. The results obtained from the discussion contained problems that were experienced, namely that technology had not been implemented which was able to detect the freshness and content of dangerous substances in milkfish raw materials in a real-time, practical manner. This Community Service activity includes dissemination and training on Integrated Embedded Sensing System technology products for detecting the level of freshness of food ingredients and the content of dangerous substances. The implementation of Community Service activities runs well and smoothly, so that employees and UKM owners are very interested in using technological tools. Apart from that, this activity can reduce the costs incurred by UKMs due to mistakes in buying fish that is not fresh.. Abstrak UKM Awal Putra Mandiri merupakan penggiat produk unggulan kota Serang Sate Banden g sehingga dapat berkembang dengan melihat suatu peluang usaha yang berkesinambungan dengan memanfaatkan potensi yang ada. UMKM Sate Bandeng Awal Putra Mandiri, menjadi salah satu UMKM yang menyediakan produk Sate Bandeng dan memiliki pasokan produk ke tin gkat nasional. Hasil yang didapatkan dari diskusi terdapat permasalahan yang di alami yaitu belum diterapkan teknologi yang mampu mendeteksi kesegaran dan kandungan zat berbahaya pada bahan baku ikan bandeng yang real- time, dan praktis. Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat inimeliputi diseminasi dan pelatihan produk teknologi Integrated Embedded Sensing System untuk deteksi tingkat kesegaran bahan pangan dan kandungan zat berbahaya. Pelaksanaan kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat berjalan dengan baik dan lancar, sehingga para karyawan dan owner UKM sangat tertarik dengan menggunakan alat teknologi. Selain itu, dari kegiatan tersebut mampu menekan biaya pengeluaran UKM untuk kesalahan membeli ikan yang tidak segar.

This study aims to determine the chemical content and heavy metal of pokea satay which is sold in the Toronipa Beach Tourism Object, Southeast Sulawesi. The research method will be conducted in the form of representative sampling from satay pokea traders accompanied by interviews related to the processing of satay pokea, measurement of water content, protein, fat, ash, Fe, and Pb content. Based on the test results, it showed that the chemical content and heavy metal of satay pokea varied. The highest water content is 43.33%, the highest ash content is 19.17%, the highest fat content is 39.36%, The highest content of water, ash, fat, protein, Fe and Pb are 43.33%, 19.17%, 39.36%, 66.04%, 6.00 ppm and <0, 01 ppm respectively. Abstract:
This research focused on assessing the efficiency of resource allocation in poultry farming within Ekiti State, Nigeria. The study had three primary objectives: first, it aimed to outline the socio-economic characteristics of poultry farmers in Ekiti State; second, it sought to determine the efficiency of resource allocation in poultry production in the same region; and third, it examined the factors influencing this allocation efficiency among farmers in the area. To achieve these objectives, a two-stage sampling technique was employed to select 30 poultry farmers from each of the three senatorial districts in Ekiti State Nigeria, resulting in a total of 90 poultry farmers chosen for the study. Data was collected through structured questionnaires administered by the researcher. The collected information was analyzed using suitable descriptive statistics and stochastic frontier production function. The findings of this study revealed that poultry farmers in the study area was dominated by males. They were relatively young with71.1% of them were less than 50 years. They were well educated and the enterprise is profitable having recorded ?285,478.11 as the average income per production cycle of individual poultry farmer. It was further revealed that stock size and cost of veterinary service were the factors determining technical efficiency of poultry production in the study area. Based on the findings, it is recommended that poultry farmers should be encouraged to expand their scale of production by increasing their stock size, as this greatly determines resource utilization efficiency in the study area. Also, poultry farmers should find a means of reducing cost of feeds by making use of locally compounded ingredients. Keywords: Poultry Farmers, Resource Efficiency, Stochastic Frontier

Abstract:
Gedung Sate was built to accommodate various architectural styles derived from local and foreign elements. The local elements have been widely studied, such as those relating to the architecture of the 'Candi' on the island of Java. Many external elements are associated with the Moorish European style and that of the Dutch. However, according to the elements, it also indicates the existence of Indian Islamic architecture, the Mughal style. This study of the Islamic elements of Mughal India has not been pursued or presented any further. This study aims to identify the traces of Islamic architecture in the Gedung Sate, especially those derived from the Mughal, Moorish and local styles. This research method used a qualitative approach by studying the morphology of Gedung Sate and Mughal or Moorish buildings to identify the relationship between their architectural elements. The results show that Gedung Sate does indeed show the use of Mughal architectural elements, especially in the outer layout and mass, processing of the figure section, and the ornamental exterior column, while the Moorish influence is more visible in the processing of curved elements and column heads and slender interior columns showing light elements. The idea of using Islamic architecture is carried out to represent the splendor in the typology of new buildings in the prospective capital city of the Netherlands Indies, namely Bandung. Indian architecture is used as a reference because it is considered to have a close relationship with Candi as an important resource in Java.

Abstract:
This study aims to discuss the extent to which the spatial transformation due to the renovation of cultural heritage buildings can affect the physical building and the user's territory, as well as its influence on the concept of architecture as the language of development. This study uses a qualitative method. Data was collected by field observations, interviews, and literature review. The sampling was carried out using a non-random or purposive type of sample. The results of the analysis show that there has been a physical and territorial transformation in Gedung Sate, Bandung as an effect of the construction of the Gedung Sate Museum. The control role of stakeholders also greatly influences the extent to which this transformation takes place. Not only interior elements, space layouts, as well as facade elements, and user territories have changed. Furthermore, the existing transformation more or less also affects development in the Gedung Sate area, and for the city of Bandung in general. Where the role of Gedung Sate's architecture is now becoming broader and more abstract. Not only becomes an artifact, but also becomes something more economic and commercial (commodification).

Rumah makan Sate Sumber Pak Dahlan merupakan sebuah usaha bisnis makanan yang memiliki cukup banyak pelanggan tetap, dalam sistem proses bisnis ini peneliti menemukan bahwa pencatatan dan pengelolaan data masih bersifat manual. Sementara di era globalisasi pada saat ini dunia bisnis sudah semakin maju dengan adanya komputerisasi sistem kerja untuk mempermudah karyawan maupun pemilik bisnis dalam mengelola usahanya. Dalam proses transaksi pemesanan dan pembayaran semua transaksi yang terjadi akan dicatat oleh kasir, dengan pencatatan manual ini menimbulkan masalah karena laporan data penjualan tidak sesuai dengan catatan yang telah diarsipkan. Untuk mengatasi hal ini Rumah Makan Sate Sumber Pak Dahlan membutuhkan suatu sistem yang dapat mengelola data penjualan makanan dan minuman. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah meminimalisir kesalahan yang terjadi pada kegiatan bisnis penjualan makanan dan minuman, dengan mempelajari sistem yang sedang berjalan, membuat perancangan sistem, analisa proses, dan melakukan pengujian sistem. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan informasi adalah dengan wawancara, observasi, dan studi pustaka yang dilakukan oleh peneliti. Metode pengembangan sistem yang digunakan adalah metode waterfall, sebagai penunjang sistem untuk dapat berkembang dan terimplementasi dengan baik. To increase the allocation of water in the river basin (WS) of southern Lombok, the potential for irrigation areas (AI) has spread widely, since the 1980s, efforts have been made to transfer water from wet river basins to dry watersheds. The transfer is through the Babak-Renggung-Rutus High Level Diversion (HLD) channel (18 km) and the Jangkok-Babak-Jurang Sate channel (43 km), as well as 22 other channeling channels in / across the watershed (87 km). Until now, 12 watersheds are connected, namely: Meninting, Jangkok, Remening, Babak, Dodokan, Renggung, Pare, Rere, Palung, Moyot, Aikampat and Starfruit. The number of main structures for taking water (headwork or HW) in the watersheds include 3 dams (BD), 77 reservoirs (E), 355 dams (B), and 55 diversions in the Jangkok-Babak-Jurang Sate canal. A total of 487 HWs were intended to irrigate 98,878 ha of irrigated land in 432 Irrigation Areas (DI) and a little to supply raw water of 404 l / sec. In addition, there are 2442 l / sec raw water withdrawals directly from 42 points of springs which are spread in the watershed: Jangkok, Babak, Aikampat, Meninting Midang, Kelongkong Remening, Renggung, Rung and Starfruit. Analysis of reservoir operational performance using the Hashimoto method yields a coefficient of Reliability (R) = 100%, Resiliency (R) = 100%, and Vulnerability (V) = 0%. Sate-gule kambing has become the most popular food at this market, followed by nasi campur Banyuwangi. Traditional Balinese food is also available at this market. It has strong taste and unique processing, but still not able to compete with others. This research aims to develope Balinese traditional food by using qualitative method that divided into theory and the application. The theoretical part is traditional food, traditional market, culinary tourism, environmental analysis, strength-weakness- opportunity–threat (SWOT) and resource based view (RBV). The application part is to analyse internal-external factors. SWOT matrix indicates four development strategics for the Balinese traditional food, such as comfort of the market, unique foods, documentary and cooperation with other tourism industry. The article is devoted to the study of the resource potential of the use of waste as a component of the environmental and energy security of the state. The problem of handling solid waste is the most urgent component of ensuring national security for Ukraine, since the volumes of accumulated waste are considered as one of the factors of the progressive environmental crisis. The sphere of secondary use of resources in Ukraine is at the stage of active formation. Due to insufficient consideration of the value of secondary resource potential, lack of awareness and lack of proper marketing, underestimation of social (for example, creation of additional jobs) and environmental factors, and also due to mismanagement, a significant part of the waste that can be used as material and energy resources is lost. The purpose of the article is to assess the potential of waste use in order to form the state’s environmental and energy security. The readiness of the citizens of Ukraine for separate collection of household waste was analyzed. The number of landfills and their area in Ukraine were determined. Technologies for the processing of municipal solid waste were characterized. The benefits of sorting and recycling solid waste were analyzed. The hierarchy of waste management priorities in the EU was built. The cost of processing recyclable materials was analyzed. An analytical assessment of the resource potential of production and consumption waste was made. Priority areas for their use have been identified. A comparative analysis of inertial and innovative scenarios for the development of the field of waste management in Ukraine for the period up to 2025 was carried out. Estimated amount of biogas that can be obtained from the annual volume of buried solid household waste was determined. SWOT analysis of implementation of the project for collecting and utilizing biogas of solid waste dumps was carried out. Proposals for improvement of the waste management structure at the state level were presented.

This paper describes a new Cymbella species from an alpine lake in the Pamir Mountains, NW China, with the aid of light and scanning electron microscopy and morphometric analyses. The morphology of the new species, named Cymbella pamirensis, is discussed and compared to similar species. The main morphometric features distinguishing Cymbella pamirensis from similar species of Cymbella are the outline and size of the valves. Cymbella pamirensis has been observed in surface sediment and core samples from Lake Sate Baile Dikuli, an alkaline, mesotrophic lake of the Pamir Mountains.

Saat terjadi pandemi COVID-19, tidak menyurutkan niat para wisatawan untuk berkunjung ke wilayah tersebut . Tentu hal tersebut menjadi masalah dan sekaligus berkah bagi pelaku jasa wisata di Suranadi. Perlu kiranya untuk membuat konsep pariwisata dengan menjaga protocol kesehatan serta memberi rasa aman kepada para pengunjung untuk dapat menikmati Desa Suranadi di saat pandemi. Solusi yang ditawarkan berdasar permasalahan tersebut adalah melakukan studi tentang konsep desa wisata di era pandemi dan menentukan strategi pengembangan desa wisata yang mengedapankan protokol kesehatan. Upaya melakukan tersebut maka dilakukan kegiatan metode survey dan FGD untuk mempertajam strategi yang akan dipilih. Selain itu dilakukan sosialisasi hasil studi dalam bentuk penyerahan berkas hasil studi kepada aparat desa. Hasil menunjukan bahwa pelu penataan Destinasi Wisata dan Paket Wisata dengan mulai menjalankan protocol Kesehatan serta meningkatkan kewaspadaan saat Pandemi.

Migration timing, size, and salinity tolerance were determined for sea-type sockeye salmon (Oncorhynchus nerka), which migrate to sea as underyearlings (age-0), in the Situk River estuary, Southeast Alaska. Ten sites in three habitat types were seined monthly from Sate April through August, 1987, and age-0 sockeye from the estuary were tested for salinity tolerance. Age-0 sockeye were most abundant (up to 13∙m−2) from late April through June, and by late July, most sockeye had left the estuary. Mean fork length (FL) was 31 mm in April and increased 0.4 mm∙d−1 to 70 mm in late July when most (72%) remaining sockeye had grown to about the same size as age-1 smolts (69–95 mm) emigrating in May and June. Mean FL of age-0 sockeye in the estuary in July was 23 mm greater than in freshwater areas of the river. Salinity tolerance was directly related to fish size, and a size of at least 50 mm was required for 100% survival in seawater. Because salinity in the estuary ranged 0–30‰, sockeye of all sizes could survive in the estuary. Thus, in 3–4 mo, sea-type sockeye attained a size large enough to adapt to seawater and migrate to sea.

Yet they suffer from severe capacity and voltage attenuation during prolong cycling, which blocks their commercial application. To clarify these causes, we synthesize Li1.5Mn0.55Ni0.4Co0.05O2.5 (Li1.2Mn0.44Ni0.32Co0.04O2) with high-nickel-content cathode material by a solid-sate complexation method, and it manifests a lot slower capacity and voltage attenuation during prolong cycling compared to Li1.5Mn0.66Ni0.17Co0.17O2.5 (Li1.2Mn0.54Ni0.13Co0.13O2) and Li1.5Mn0.65Ni0.25Co0.1O2.5 (Li1.2Mn0.52Ni0.2Co0.08O2) cathode materials. The capacity retention at 1 C after 100 cycles reaches to 87.5% and the voltage attenuation after 100 cycles is only 0.460 V. Combining X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), it indicates that increasing the nickel content not only stabilizes the structure but also alleviates the attenuation of capacity and voltage. Therefore, it provides a new idea for designing of Li-rich layered oxide cathode materials that suppress voltage and capacity attenuation.

The pineapple mealybug Dysmicoccus brevipes (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) is a cosmopolitan and polyphagous species that causes severe damage to peanut crops in many countries around the world. This work was conducted in Campina Grande, Paraíba Sate, Brazil, aiming to assess losses in productivity caused by D. brevipes in a peanut crop. A completely randomized design with five treatments and four replicates was used. Treatments consisted of five mealybug population densities (nymphs and adults) on peanut roots and pods, described as follows: T1 = 0 mealybugs per plant; T2 = 1 to 20 mealybugs per plant; T3 = 21 to 40 mealybugs per plant; T4 = 41 to 80 mealybugs per plant and T5 = more than 80 mealybugs per plant. Roots and pods infested with the pest were observed on 84 % of the peanut plants sampled, ranging from zero to 147.1 individuals per plant. The higher the number of mealybugs per plant, the lower the weight of pod. The mean pod productivities of BR1 peanut cultivars, with the highest and lowest densities of mealybugs per plant were 1,695 and 3,290 kg per ha, respectively. Fields heavily infested with D. brevipes risk significant losses due to the enormous capacity of this organism for causing damage.

Both executive foreign experience and state ownership negatively moderate the U-shaped relationship between PD and OFDI.Practical implicationsEmerging economies should encourage and guide multinational firms in engaging in OFDI and emphasize the advantages and disadvantages of PD for multinational firms. Additionally, non-sate-owned firms should recruit those who have a foreign education to provide support for OFDI by firms in emerging economies. Multinational firms should determine investment locations by consulting with executives with foreign experience to improve their ability to engage in OFDI.Originality/valueThis study combines macro and micro perspectives and integrates PD and firm heterogeneity into the same model with a sample of multinational firms originating in China. The findings support the existence of a PD paradox, which helps to enriching the theory on foreign direct investment.

Nonlinear ultrasound is often employed to assess microdamage or nonlinear elastic properties of a material, and the nonlinear parameter is commonly used to quantify damage sate and material properties. Among the various factors that influence the measurement of nonlinear parameters, maintaining a constant contact pressure between the receiver and specimen is important for repeatability of the measurement. The use of an air-coupled transducer may be considered to replace the contact receiver. In this paper, a method of measuring the relative and absolute nonlinear parameters of materials is described using an air-coupled transducer as a receiver. The diffraction and attenuation corrections are newly derived from an acoustic model for a two-layer medium and the nonlinear parameter formula with all corrections is defined. Then, we show that the ratio of the relative nonlinear parameter of the target sample to the reference sample is equal to that of the absolute nonlinear parameter, and this equivalence is confirmed by measurements on three systems of aluminum samples. The proposed method allows the absolute measurement of the nonlinear parameter ratio or the nonlinear parameter without calibration of the air-coupled receiver and removes restrictions on the selection of reference samples.

Abstract:
The dissemination of South Korean culture in Indonesia becomes prominent as it attracts lot of people and creates many fans. The penetration of its spread in Indonesia is supported by some institutions which emphasizes on advocating and developing the South Korean culture and practice. The phenomena are not incidentally occurred, but it is well-managed by the government of South Korea as the advocate country of public diplomacy in collaboration with the target country which is Indonesia in achieving this mission. Public diplomacy is positioned as an approach of the advocate country to influence the public of foreign country to support the advocate’s country position which can be implemented through their state and non-sate actors in achieving mutual benefits. This paper observes the practice, impact, and challenges of South Korea’s public diplomacy in Indonesia based on Communication Pyramid Public Diplomacy framework. The findings show that the practice of public diplomacy allows cultural hybridity and increase enthusiasm of Indonesian in understanding the culture of the advocate country while the challenge is asymmetric direction between state and non-state actors of South Korea in the implementation of public diplomacy.

Abstract:
This paper reviews the present applications of reinforcement learning in five major spheres including mobile autonomy, industrial autonomy, finance and trading, and gaming. The application of reinforcement learning in real time cannot be overstated, it encompasses areas far beyond the scope of this paper, including but not limited to medicine, health care, natural language processing, robotics and e-commerce. Contemporary reinforcement learning research teams have made remarkable progress in games and comparatively less in the medical field. Most recent implementations of reinforcement learning are focused on model-free learning algorithms as they are relatively easier to implement. This paper seeks to present model-based reinforcement learning notions, and articulate how model-based learning can be efficient in contemporary scenarios. Model based reinforcement learning is a fundamental approach to sequential decision making, it refers to learning optimal behavior indirectly by learning a model of the environment, from taking actions and observing the outcomes that include the subsequent sate and the instant reward. Many other spheres of reinforcement learning have a connection to model-based reinforcement learning. The findings of this paper could have both academic and industrial ramifications, enabling individual.

Abstract:
I have been intrigued by my very different responses to two uses of the word method. The first, commonplace and currently popular, suggests that psychotherapists should have a number of methods at their disposal. This could be called the ballast argument. The second, from a statement by Laplanche, is that what Freud predominantly gave us was a method. I am rather disturbed by the former, but take the latter very seriously in my own practice. My sense of intrigue comes from the belief that both examples contain radically different notions of what psychotherapists are engaged in. The ballast argument enlists a technological approach, the application of knowledge, where one is engaged in a particular kind of behandlung (treatment); a kind of violence. But Freud's method is also a technology, so why should I favour that? Perhaps, because it is a method that opens up and contains particular kinds of spaces. I wish to explore these ideas by sharing some of the ideas that have been helpful to me in feeling and thinking through this issue over the years; in order to wonder about what kind of spaces are being offered by psychotherapists in these differing positions. What are psychotherapist's responsibilities in such spaces?

Yet it's easy for someone looking at those statues today to assume that the leaves play some part in the Roman and Greek concepts of physical beauty.A fig leaf may be the most blatant breach of an artist's original inspiration you'll encounter in a museum, but it's not likely to be the only one. Other more subtle transgressions are displayed in nearly every gallery and museum in the country—but unmasking them takes more than just a discerning eye. For instance, did the 17th-century painter see the world as quiet and subdued, or have his bright colors been muted by a 19th-century varnish? Did the classical sculptor intend his work to have an even, green patina, or has the Renaissance infatuation with antiquity allowed this corrosion to hide his varying shades of burnished bronze? Did Leonardo conceive the face of the Christ of “The Last Supper” as speaking, or silent, as his overpainters would have it?“Modern conservators really make us think about objects, says Carol Faill, administrator of college collections at Franklin & Marshall College. “There's been a consciousness raising about objects' own integrity.” Art and science are being used together as never before to gain an understanding of the physical and chemical properties of materials and their role in the fine arts.

This is truly an international gathering, as befits the IAU. We have a wide range of educational backgrounds. Most of us hope to adapt each others’ ideas to suit our own needs. That adaption will be much easier if we appreciate each others’ individual circumstances, and especially if we know something about each others’ different educational systems. To ease the exchange of information, I shall outline two very different educational schemes. I shall call them the “traditional” and the “U.S.” system. I suspect that about half of us will identify more closely with the traditional system, and half with the U.S. system.
