Abstract:
This paper examined the effectiveness of close to school supervision in enhancing teachers’ job performance in Tanzanian public secondary schools. The study was guided by Path-Goal theory. This study adopted the qualitative approach using case study design and data were obtained from 32 informants. Semi-structured interviews and focus group discussion were the main data collection methods, and the data were thematically analysed. It was found that that the close to school education officers employed directive supervision in supervising schools. The strategy improved teachers’ work performance. It was also found that close to school supervision included supportive supervision and participative supervision strategies but had limited contribution in teachers’ work performance. It is concluded that directive supervision practices highly contributed to teachers’ job performance in secondary schools in Tanzania. It is recommended that for teachers to improve job performance, close to school supervisors should practice supportive and participative supervision strategies accordingly.

Abstract:
AimsThe study aimed to explore the viewpoints held by school staff regarding the topic of supervision.RationaleDespite recognition of the potential benefits of supervision for school staff, supervision remains largely uncommon within schools. Barriers relating to terminology and potential connotations, suggest low uptake may in part relate to perceptions of supervision. Thus, it seems important to further understand how the topic of supervision is construed by school staff.MethodOnline Q-methodology was utilised. Twenty-one school staff members, working in a range of roles and settings, with varying experiences of supervision, completed a Q-sort activity and a post-sort questionnaire.FindingsTwo viewpoints were identified. Viewpoint 1 perceived supervision to be necessary, achievable within school resources, and of benefit to the whole-school system. Viewpoint 2 was more cautiously optimistic, perceiving barriers to implementation but highlighting the importance of embedding supervision within school systems.LimitationsThe viewpoints cannot be generalised, and the viewpoints identified in the current study are not exhaustive. Adaptations to the design, particularly relating to online Q-methodology, are suggested.ConclusionsThe findings reiterate the need to avoid a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to supervision and to develop a shared understanding and a culture of supervision in schools. To support Educational Psychologists developing, implementing, and evaluating supervision structures in schools, a Staff Supervision Development Protocol was developed.

This study explores the implementation of teaching supervision in Excellence Cluster National Secondary Schools and Daily Secondary Schools. This study adopts the qualitative exploratory approach and involves eight study samples selected by purposive sampling. Methods of interview, observation and document analysis were used as the main tools in collecting the study data. The data collected were analysed using in-depth reading, open coding and axial coding. The results of the study as a whole show that the two categories of schools do not show differences in the characteristics studied in the implementation of teaching supervision in secondary schools. The study’s findings show that teaching supervision in Excellence Cluster Secondary Schools and Daily Secondary Schools is implemented through the devolution of power to middle leaders. Teaching supervision is guided by the teaching supervision form found in SKPMG2 standard 4. Teaching supervision in both school categories is done three times a year involving three phases. Moreover, teaching evaluation is done through direct observation in the classroom with full guidance on the teaching supervision form. The similarity in the implementation of teaching supervision is due to the same challenges faced by principals in both school categories, namely time constraints and administrative workload. The findings also show that supervisors use no specific approach for teaching supervision. The implication of this study is that it provides an insight into the implementation of teaching supervision by school administrators and that strengthening the skills and knowledge of middle leaders could improve teaching supervision effectiveness and positively impact the students, teachers and the school.

Abstract:
Principals’ supervision has been an important aspect of school leadership, which has aimed to improve the overall quality of teaching in schools by improving the work of individual teachers. This study has identified a need to fill an existing gap in the teaching supervision literature, as researchers have overlooked the possibility that principals’ mastery of the English language may affect the supervision of English language teachers. It therefore examines whether Saudi female principals who did not major in English language face difficulties supervising English language teaching in secondary schools. This study was carried out over a week. The data was collected from five female principals working in secondary schools by means of semi-structured interviews. The results showed that the main obstacle faced by principals supervising English language classes was understanding the English language itself. Data collected by the study show the need for Saudi Arabian principals to be aware of their limitations in understanding English when supervising English language teachers; having this information can be crucial for improving supervision and planning successful supervisory practices. Moreover, it can help principals evaluate themselves and review the way they supervise English language teachers.

Abstract:
In the process of the reform of the education system and the promotion of the policy of "removing and merging schools", the number of primary and secondary schools in rural areas has been greatly reduced, the traffic problem of students going to school has become increasingly prominent, and the demand for school buses in my country is increasing. Relevant state departments and local governments have issued policy regulations on school bus safety, but these regulations still have problems to varying degrees and are difficult to implement. Therefore, there is still a great safety hazard in school bus safety. Based on the current situation of school bus safety management in Xuzhou, this paper investigates the promulgation and implementation of Xuzhou’s school bus safety supervision policies, and selects the Xuzhou Fengxian school bus accident as a typical case to explore the problems existing in Xuzhou’s school bus safety supervision, and analyzes the problems in Xuzhou’s school bus safety supervision. On this basis, the countermeasures to improve the safety supervision of school buses in Xuzhou are put forward. In order to improve the problem of school bus safety management in Xuzhou, first of all, the power and responsibility relationship between different subjects should be clarified, and the government should be mainly responsible for the supervision of school bus safety. Secondly, we should increase the support and financial expenditure for school buses, promote the process of school bus laws and regulations, and establish and improve the supervision system and emergency management system.

Abstract:
Education supervision is the process of professional development of the teacher, primarily by giving the teacher feedback about classroom interactions and helping the teacher make sure the feedback is used to improve the teacher's behavior to make teaching and learning more effective. Quality education results from effective and efficient supervision of education whereby a supervisor creates a conducive environment for teachers to perform their responsibilities. The paper intends to explore the role and challenges facing education supervisors in doing their responsibilities in Tanzania. To achieve this, the researchers did a mini-review. The paper searched the internet for relevant and timely research papers and articles mainly focusing on supervision in secondary schools. Once a sufficient number of materials for the mini-review had been gathered, the laborious process of assessing and analyzing the concepts and contexts within each piece commenced. The study finds that the quality of education depends on the presence of a competent and committed school headmaster in supervising the critical effectiveness of the school, while challenges facing education supervisors are categorized into two categories: Problems in instruction supervision and administrative supervision. In solving these problems, education supervision has to be put into consideration by the government as it plays a vital role in improving educational performance.

The purpose of this research; In the 2021-2022 academic year, based on the opinions of the principals working in primary, secondary and high schools in the city center of Tokat, it is aimed to reveal whether the principals have the necessary knowledge and skills for inspection, the problems they encounter in inspection, and the positive and negative aspects of inspection. The data used in the research were collected from a total of 18 people, including 6 primary school principals, 6 secondary school principals and 6 high school principals, selected according to the maximum diversity sampling, working in the central primary, secondary and high school in Tokat province. The data collected with the standardized open-ended interview form developed by the researcher were analyzed and interpreted using the content analysis approach, one of the qualitative data analysis approaches. According to the results of the research, most of the participants argued that it is a correct practice to carry out the supervision by the school principals. The participants stated that the supervision by the school principals puts pressure on the teachers and students, and the teacher-principal relations are negatively affected. It has been concluded that the positive aspects of supervision by school principals are that teachers keep themselves up-to-date on the program and content and contribute positively to their professional development. It was emphasized that the negative aspects of supervision by school principals would damage the developed relations between the supervisor and the supervisor. This situation also emphasized the damage to the institutional balance and school culture, and the psychological pressures that the supervision itself will create on teachers.

Abstract:
The aim of this research is to describe the coaching-based academic supervision model used by school principals to improve teacher’s professional abilities. Apart from that, it is known how well the driving teacher instructors apply learning tips in coaching-based academic supervision in schools. It is an effort to improve the quality of teachers and maintain the quality of the process, which can be achieved by optimizing the role of the school principal as an academic supervisor. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach and the descriptive method with data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation. This model aims to increase the competency of teachers in implementing coaching-based academic supervision activities using pre-supervision, supervision, and post-supervision stages in schools. The model developed and implemented in coaching-based supervision uses the GPAR (Goal, Problem Identification, Action Plans, and Responsibilities) model, namely goals, identification, action plans, and responsibilities, namely preparation for learning supervision and counselling management. A model developed with passion, independence, and teaching. With the help of learning guidance based on the GPAR Coaching model, it should be easier for school principals to communicate with driving teachers so that the teacher’s possibilities in implementing learning activities can be explained well. This can be seen in the results of increasing initial supervision and final supervision scores, which show that the effectiveness between school principals and driving teachers is increasing. However, 90 percent of participating school psychologists considered them important, and they believe that these techniques should be introduced to schools. They see the lack of time and interest in teachers as the main obstacles to the spread of these techniques in educational settings.
