Abstract:
The occupational health and safety education program (OHS) is an important intervention strategy to prevent injuries among young workers. This study aims to emphasize the importance of inclusive and integrated occupational safety education in an Inclusive Vocational School for students at 10th grade. In this study, we investigated the success levels and the awareness of the students before and after the education on occupational safety. The purpose of the study is to investigate the effects of 12-hour basic OHS education on the students’ levels of awareness and knowledge and the retention of these effects. A questionnaire comprising 10 questions and an open-ended exam comprising 20 questions that measure their knowledge level on OHS were applied to the students who had just met with the workshop environment before and after the education. As a result, OHS education delivered to students has improved the students’ awareness of OHS positively. It was observed that the knowledge levels before receiving OHS education increased according to their knowledge level after regular OHS education.

Abstract:
Supported by the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, the Ocean Guardian School (OGS) program is a federally funded grant program coordinated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of National Marine Sanctuaries. OGS supports the educational goals of national marine sanctuaries (NMS) by funding hands-on ocean conservation and stewardship programs in both public and private schools. Schools apply for grants (up to $4,000) to implement school- or community-based conservation projects to educate students, while contributing to the health and protection of local watersheds and the world’s ocean. This study is the first to estimate the value that parents have for their child’s participation in an ocean conservation and stewardship program. Using a contingent choice survey, changes to student behaviour, parents’ support for the OGS program and the non-market economic value to parents of the six program attributes are estimated.

Abstract:
Occupational health and safety (OHS) education is integral to healthcare practice. Nurses/nursing students are particularly vulnerable during their work in this high-risk industry. Current clinical teaching appears to focus on individual risks rather than provide a broader overview of the complex issues involved. A novel educational resource, the Safety Assessment Framework for Evaluation and Assessment (SAFER), is presented, addressing a gap in current education resources for nursing students to broaden understanding about OHS. The study re-examined pilot focus group data from first- and third- year student OHS focus groups in an Australian university School of Nursing. The SAFER framework was informed by student nurses impressions/ experiences of OHS (published in 2015 and 2016), supported by a literature review. Central to the SAFER framework is OHS ‘risk management’. It incorporates stakeholders and Australian legislation, all in relation to ‘responsibility’ and ‘trust’. Examples use focus group participant voice, linked with researcher interpretation and supporting documentation. Clinical educators now have a broad resource to facilitate student group discussions about OHS from multiple perspectives. SAFER’s value beyond face validity should be tested, to confirm its applicability as a teaching resource in various university and training environments. Abstract:
In United States conversations about progressive pedagogy and alternative forms of education, the longstanding models that scholars used were predominantly white. African-American historians of education have problematized this narrative. More recently, the interdisciplinary field of Black Power studies has increased investigation into Afrocentric pedagogy and Black politically-engaged education after World War II (Rickford, 2016). While much attention has been paid to the freedom schools, educational sites run by Black revolutionary nationalists have received less attention. One particular site is the Oakland Community School (OCS), the Black Panther Party’s full-time day school. Initially a combined day-care and home school known as the Children’s House in 1970, the school changed to become the Intercommunal Youth Institute in 1971. It then operated as the Oakland Community School from 1974 until 1982, earning acclaim from the California Department of Education and the governor of California (Gore, Theoharis & Woodard, 2009). While multiple historical studies detail the pedagogical contours of the school and its community engagement, very few elicit the voices of former students. This work incorporates such voices, in conjunction with traditional archives and digital archival material, as a means of contextualizing the OCS within the Black Panther Party’s politics of the period and the school’s implications for contemporary education.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to develop a measurement model in order to investigate sorts of organizational cultures (OCs) existing in school organizations. Design/methodology/approach This study involved 300 teachers of Primary Schools in the Malang City, East Java Indonesia. It used a quantitative approach with structural equation modelling to develop a measurement model of school OC. To enable the measure of this variable to work, OC scale was constructed and validated employing a confirmatory factor analysis. Findings Results suggest items of the scale are conceptualized as unidimensional measure. The scale, thus, could be used to examine and properly identified types of OCs within a school setting. Research limitations/implications This study developed e-scale to measure OC within a school context. The measure was tested in referring to the data derived from a limited sample of primary school teachers in Malang City, Indonesia. Practical implications This study recommends that school principals are expected to create an OC to ensure the improvement of individual capacities is carried out effectively. Originality/value The investigation focused on a school OC as a complex project. Since not many research studies developed the scales to measure this specific cultural construct, the findings add to the theory in this area.

Abstract:
We present ten patterns and design examples in this paper, revealing some of the most relevant trends in educational design, drawn from our research on charter schools. An interdisciplinary team of students in architecture, urban planning, business, education, and psychology have completed a series of case studies of best practices, as well as profiled charter schools locally, to develop patterns and guidelines for the facility planning and educational development of charter schools. Charter schools are public schools of choice in the United States that receive more administrative and pedagogical autonomy and flexibility than district schools in exchange for meeting the performance goals specified in each school's charter. Charter schools often have innovative curriculum, challenging traditional education methods and facility design. This research addresses the connections between the designed physical environment and the learning innovations it supports, while encouraging the entrepreneurial charter school vision, emphasizing creativity in the renovation, adaptive reuse, and non-traditional use of existing buildings, efficiently maximizing student safety and learning, and adhering to best-practice standards of ecological design.

Abstract:
This study evaluated the effectiveness of two school-based oral health education (OHE) programs on the oral health knowledge and behavior and oral hygiene of 9-year-old children in Turkey. The study included 1,053 school children aged 9 years in Aydin, Turkey. This study was a prospective, two-arm, and parallel-group clinical trial between two different OHE programs. The dentist group received one lecture on OHE given by dentists in the classroom. The teacher group had a similar lecture given by school teachers, including supporting materials which were available throughout the academic year. Oral health knowledge and behavior were evaluated with a questionnaire at baseline, and then at 1 and 6 months. In total, 110 students were randomly selected to undergo a plaque accumulation assessment according to the Silness–Löe Index at baseline and 1 month later to determine the effects of the education programs on oral hygiene. At baseline, tooth-brushing frequency was similar in the study groups. Compared with baseline, the frequency of brushing increased significantly after 1 and 6 months in both groups ( p < .001). Teacher education was more effective for teaching correct brushing techniques ( p < .001). A significant decrease in plaque accumulation has been evaluated in both study groups at the 1-month examination after the education session ( p < .05). Both OHE programs were found to generate improvements in knowledge and behavior of children on oral health and plaque control in the short term.

Abstract:
Background The internet has been widely accessible and well accepted by young people; however, there is a limited understanding of the internet usage patterns and characteristics on issues related to health problems. The contents posted on online health communities (OHCs) are valuable resources to learn about youth's health information needs. Objective In this study, we concurrently exploited statistical analysis and topic analysis of online health information needs to explore the distribution, impact factors, and topics of interest relevant to Chinese young people. Methods We collected 60,478 health-related data sets posted by young people from a well-known Chinese OHC named xywy.com. Descriptive statistical analysis and correlation analysis were applied to find the distribution and influence factors of the information needs of Chinese young people. Furthermore, a general 4-step topic mining strategy was presented for sparse short texts, which included sentence vectorization, dimension reduction, clustering, and keyword generation. Results In the Chinese OHC, Chinese young people had a high demand for information in the areas of gynecology and obstetrics, internal medicine, dermatology, plastic surgery, and surgery, and they focused on topics such as treatment, symptoms, causes, pathology, and diet. Females accounted for 69.67% (42,136/60,478) and young adults accounted for 87.44% (52,882/60,478) of all data. Gender, age, and disease type all had a significant effect on young people's information needs and topic preferences (P<.001). Conclusions We conducted comprehensive analyses to discover the online health information needs of Chinese young people. The research findings are of great practical value to carry out health education and health knowledge dissemination inside and outside of schools according to the interests of youth, enable the innovation of information services in OHCs, and improve the health literacy of young people.

Abstract:
As part of a multiyear research project investigating the affordances of online citizen science (OCS) projects for enhancing school students’ learning in relation to science and digital technology, teacher–researchers have designed and implemented classroom interventions incorporating one or more OCS projects. The project is situated in New Zealand, and each intervention has embedded an OCS project within a wider unit of learning focusing on one or more “science capabilities” (Ministry of Education, n.d.). This article presents one of the case studies generated in the wider project. It is of a Year 9 class that engaged with the OCS project Planet Four as part of a wider inquiry unit emphasising the science capability Use evidence: “Can humans live on Mars?” The findings demonstrate that a deliberate focus on using evidence throughout the unit gave students multiple opportunities to practise and develop this science capability within the engaging context of space travel.

Abstract:
The terms cyprus, conflict, crisis and war have been almost inextricably intertwined throughout the history of this Mediterranean island. The education system played an important role socially and school buildings played an important role visually first in the dissemination of nationalism when the ethno-nationalist movements within the turkish and greek-cypriot communities increased dramatically under British colonial rule (1878-1960), and later in the dissemination of internationalism in the mid-twentieth century. Despite the increased conflict and nationalism, which was reflected by neo-greek architectural elements, the striking impact of the international style turned school buildings into representations of the communities' attitudes towards modernism. By the mid-1940s these attitudes towards modernism also served as a latent way for communities' identity struggles and for the sovereignty of each community to exist. After world war ii the style embodied by many school buildings conveyed science-based modern thought; modernization attempts for political, economic and social reforms; and the strong commitment of the first modernist cypriot architects to the spirit of the time and the philosophy of the modern. Under this scope, postwar school buildings in cyprus are identified as unique artifacts transformed from an ‘ethnicity-based' image into an ‘environment-based' form that is more associated with the modernization, decolonization and nation-building processes from which local nuances of mainstream modernism emerged. At this point the modernization process of the state, identity struggles of the communities and architects' modernist attempts could be interpreted as providing a fertile ground for new social and architectural experiments, and could answer questions about how postwar school architecture managed to avoid reference to historical, ethnic and religious identities when there was an intentional exacerbation of hostility between the two ethnic communities and about school buildings predominantly followed principles of the international style even though both the greek and turkish-cypriot education systems were instrumental in strengthening local nationalisms and even ethnic tensions.

Abstract:
School-based health services (SBHS) including pastoral care can play a pivotal role in addressing adolescent health and wellbeing; including their tobacco and other drug use. To maximise the benefits of these services, they need to be accessible, useful for, and acceptable to students. This formative, qualitative study involved 12 focus groups within nine lower socio-economic Western Australian Government secondary schools. The purpose was to identify student (n = 59) perceptions of the availability and usefulness of SBHS (and other identified caring staff) to reduce students’ harm associated with tobacco and other drug use. The findings suggest students were aware of the SBHS available to them, but considered them less useful if staff were regularly unavailable; presented a ‘don't care’ attitude; held solely disciplinary roles; and were based in an area of the school unfamiliar to the student. Services were considered useful when staff members built rapport with students; took time to listen; followed-up with students and displayed a general concern for the student's wellbeing. Interestingly, students acknowledged trusting health teachers more than SBHS staff for tobacco information and support. These findings have important implications for school counsellors and other school health/pastoral care staff who want to increase the likelihood of students approaching and using school support services to reduce harm associated with tobacco and other harmful drug (OHD) use.

Abstract:
Music technology has been an active part of the Higher Education (HE) curricula for several decades but it is perhaps the last few decades that have witnessed the proliferation of courses at tertiary level, or at least certainly in the United Kingdom. The recently formed Office for Students (OfS) in the United Kingdom replaces HEFCE (Higher Education Funding Council for England) although the remit is somewhat different for this new entity. The OfS is very much a regulator working on behalf of the consumers (students) and not the universities; education is probably the last of the sectors in the United Kingdom to fall into line with this practice since utility and other companies which have had such regulation for years. This brings into sharp focus the view of education as a service industry and the position of education more generally in HE in the United Kingdom. This takes place in the suggested context of a falling number of students engaging with music at schools, sixth form, and further education colleges as a consequence of changes to government policy and the content of the curricula. This article begins by examining music in education and highlighting the current issues. It draws upon recent reports about music in schools before examining the value of music, and especially music technology, in the curriculum. Questions around employability are set out and some key findings from a phenomenological study are presented to educators. Finally, some signposts are set out for future work in this area.

Abstract:
Purpose – The article’s aim is to identify the differences in the passing of the matura exams in towns and villages of individual provinces, as well as the differences in the educational productivity of general secondary schools and vocational schools. Research method – Using econometric techniques, the variables of the quality of education were assessed in the years 2011–2018. To measure the change in productivity over time and the impact of resources on secondary education in Poland, the Malmquist Total Productivity Index was calculated along with its decomposition. Results – The presented research shows that the analysis of the spatial differentiation of educational achievements can provide important information about the functioning of education, as well as about the connection of education with other cultural processes and socio-economic development. It also indicates the important role of technology in rural education. The influence of technological systems is especially visible in vocational schools in rural areas, where the productivity of education is the highest. Technology played a slightly less important role in high schools in urban areas. Originality /value / implications /recommendations – The results of the research can be helpful as regards the challenge faced by educators of rural areas.

Abstract:
This paper discusses the opportunity afforded by a substantial research grant to examine three aspects of recent school design and learning. First, spaces that support effective learning, second, the role of the building in achieving sustainability, and third, pedagogies and practices that support one and two. Schools are complex systems in which the physical environment interacts with pedagogical, socio-cultural, curricular, motivational and socio-economic factors as well as providing benefits or costs in environmental terms. Limiting the research focus to exemplar case study schools will enable a more comprehensive study of the schools as 3D texts. Through proactive research methodologies, students, teachers and architects will collaborate to manipulate the spaces to suit different learning modalities. Students will help collect environmental data and therefore learn more about climate and energy. They will also participate within teams to further their problem solving, communication and organizational skills. Teachers will become more aware of and hopefully skilled at managing space both environmentally and pedagogically. Architects will have the unusual opportunity of experiencing and analyzing their designs through the eyes of users. While this ambitious research is in its infancy, the interdisciplinary approach and support from nine industry partners is relevant for other researchers who are seeking to have an impact on design practice using an action research methodology. The research is timely.4 Following in the footsteps of the United Kingdom, Australian state and federal governments have committed to reinvigorate our aging school stock. This research led by an interdisciplinary team, was developed in partnership with Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, the Victorian Government Architect's Office, and seven design firms with expertise in learning environments. The research has been funded by the Australian Research Council

Abstract:
A sample of 108 highly gifted middle school students participated in a study of the relationships between Big Five factors and overexcitabilities. Students completed the NEO-FFI and Overexcitabilities Questionnaire-II (OEQ-II). A cutoff score applied to the OEQ-II created a threshold for overexcitability, ensuring only extreme responses. Analysis groups were based on the number of OEs students possessed based on the cutoff score. An analysis of variance assessed differences in students’ NEO-FFI scores according to the number of OEs they reported. Students with three or more overexcitabilities had significantly higher scores on NEO-FFI openness to experience than students with fewer overexcitabilities. Gifted females had significantly higher scores on NEO-FFI neuroticism scale than gifted males. The results hold implications for understanding the academic and social-emotional needs of highly gifted students and justify use of the Big Five model and overexcitabilities together to further understand the relationship between intelligence, personality, and giftedness.

Abstract:
The authors carried out a long-term research on knowledge of providing premedical first aid amongst elementary school teachers in the past years. The research results showed, among the others, that more than 45% of accidents at schools happen during vocational training. On this basis, the authors decided to carry out a long-term (2019–2021) research verifying the level of selected pre-medical first aid competencies amongst educational professionals providing vocational education and practical training. The study aimed at finding out whether and to what extent the vocational education and practical training teachers are competent in providing layman’s first aid, to understand possible gaps in these competencies, and to establish corresponding training needs. At this moment, the study sample includes 325 teachers of vocational education and practical training at vocational schools, secondary vocational schools, or secondary and higher technical schools, with a varying level of teaching experience. A quantitative method was used (questionnaire) in the research. The respondents completed a questionnaire consisting of two parts. The first part focused on selected attitudes, opinions and experience in providing pre-medical first aid, and the second part contained a knowledge test. The results show that the highest number of respondents failed questions on how to stop bleeding and treat wounds. The respondents believe that these are the most frequent injuries during vocational education and practical training. Many respondents also failed questions on what to do in case of a knocked-out tooth (only 42% of correct answers), how to provide first aid in case of epileptic seizure (42% of correct answers), and how to provide first aid in case of hypoglycaemia (31% of correct answers) and asthma (35%). It is clear that the failures stated above might have been influenced by not being familiar with updated international recommended first aid procedures, which are updated every five years, and 53% of respondents do not receive a pre-medical first aid training where they could gain this information. Taking into account the sample size and continuation of the research, it is certainly not possible to draw any general conclusions on the presented research. The respondents themselves state that they feel quite uncertain about their knowledge and skills related to providing layman’s first aid. However, this situation can lead to a serious threat or damage to health and lives of students. The authors of this study realize that it is necessary to take very seriously every sign of incompetency, and that they can only be eliminated by systematic education based, in particular, on regular practical training sessions (acquiring practical skills) in small groups and a development of interactive materials on first aid. An annual training session within the OHS (occupational health and safety) system is evidently insufficient.

Abstract:
Reducing the burden of occupational cancers (OCs) is currently one of the most challenging Occupational Health (OH) issues. The European Union (EU) has made efforts to improve the existing legal framework and developed specific legislation aimed at reducing the burden of OC. However, available data suggest that OC are underreported. In August 2019, the European Association of Schools of Occupational Medicine (EASOM) adopted a statement that highlighted the importance of improving the education and training of Medical Doctors (MDs) to facilitate improvements in recognizing and reporting OC. To achieve this, EASOM proposes to promote OH education and training of MDs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, foster harmonization of OH education and teaching standards and programs across EU countries, and enhance cooperation between universities and international scientific associations. Finally, we suggest that occupational data should be recorded in cancer and medical registers. By engaging MDs more fully in the debate about OCs, they will become more aware of the Occupational Physician’s role in reducing the burden of OCs and, furthermore, embed consideration of occupation as a potential cause of cancer into their own practice. These interventions will help promote the implementation of policies and interventions aimed to reduce OC in the workplace.

Abstract:
This paper presents the Executive Secretariat of Interamerican Drug Abuse Control Commission (ES/CICAD)'s successful experience introducing drug related content into nursing curricula, fostering the implementation of outreach activities at the community level, and promoting research studies on drug issues in Latin America. The "Critical-holistic international health model applied to the drug phenomenon" is used as the project's theoretical framework. The three basic components of the project are education, outreach activities, and drug research studies, which provide the scientific basis for the development and advancement of future nursing professionals to work and study drug issues in Latin America. Through this project, more than 50,000 nursing students have been or are being educated on drug-related issues; the participating schools have implemented 400 outreach activities, developed more than 500 research studies on drug-related issues, and published more than 270 articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals. The ES/CICAD Schools of Nursing Project has served as a model to address the drug phenomenon from an international health perspective for other academic areas such as medicine, public health, education, psychology, social work, social communication, and law in Latin America.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Aim The aims of this study were to determine the knowledge, educational background, opinion, and clinical experience of general practice dentists toward obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and oral appliances (OAs). Materials and methods A cross-sectional study was carried out through a questionnaire which was distributed randomly to 200 general practice dentists both in public and private dental clinics at Qassim, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. About 175 completed questionnaires were returned. The data were statistically analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Results The results showed that only 48.6% of our governmental and private dentists were familiar with the term OSA with a statistical significance among governmental dentists (37.9%) who were more familiar with OSA signs and symptoms than private (21.1%) dentists (p < 0.016). In addition, the majority of the respondents (90.9%) reported a general lack of education in both OSA and OAs during their study in the dental school. A total of 142 (81.1%) dentists never prescribed OAs for OSA patients. However, 87.4% have never consulted or referred a suspected OSA patient to physicians. Conclusion General practice dentists surveyed possess poor knowledge and low clinical experience regarding OSA and OAs, which reflects the weak level of education in this field of dental sleep medicine. Abstract:
Aim: To determine the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency and associated factors among students of age 13 - 18 years. Methods: Design: Community-based cross sectional survey. Setting: Two schools were selected using multistage sampling techniques. Sampling: Cluster sampling of all enrolled students (550 students). Outcome Measures: Serum levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25 OHD), parathyroid hormone and calcium. Data was collected about nutritional intake, physical activity and lifestyle variables that are potential risk factors for hypovitaminosis D. Results: Hypovitaminosis D prevalence was 23.8 %, of which 5.3 % was deficiency and 18.5 % insufficiency. Serum 25 OHD levels inversely correlated with parathyroid hormone levels (r = -0.206, P = 0.00). Low calcium and ionized calcium levels were 40.6 % and 45.9 %, respectively, and significantly correlated with vitamin D levels. Female students have significantly higher levels of hypovitaminosis D compared to males (29.3 % to 15.0 %, respectively) and the level of vitamin D significantly improved with increased age. Exposure to sun had a significant effect on vitamin D levels, and physical activity, soft drink consumption and smoking did not. Multinomial regression analysis revealed that age, sun exposure and Ca level were the only significant independent predictors of hypovitaminosis D among the studied group. Conclusion: Our findings revealed that hypovitaminosis D is a prevalent health problem in adolescents, especially girls, who were at higher risk, and increased age and sun exposure improved vitamin D status among the studied group. There is therefore a need to consider vitamin D supplementation for school children together with increased awareness through a health education program.

Abstract:
This paper draws on a Linguistic Ethnography (Blommaert & Rampton 2011) of a group of academically elite students in Singapore. The group comprises locals born in Singapore, as well as immigrants from China and Vietnam. My informants all attended a top-ranked secondary school in Singapore. I present data from interviews and a focus group discussion with them about their aspirations and educational pathways. These academically elite students describe a conventional aspiration amongst their peers involving transnational mobility and attending top-ranked universities in the US and UK. My informants discursively construct this aspiration as preferred, with a sense that they are expected to conform to such a trajectory. I argue that their consistent orientation toward the ideal trajectory and production of discourse about it denotes a collective moral stance (Ochs & Capps 2002), and hence a disposition embedded in a social field (Hanks 2005). In response to Archer’s (2012) theorisations that dominant modes of reflexivity have changed, my informants’ relatively stable orientations and ways of acting demonstrate how Bourdieu’s notion of habitus continues to be relevant in late-modernity. In practical terms, this study also shows a clear link between elite schools, and the aspirations and resultant trajectories of individuals. This has direct implications for policy-makers in Singapore where the Ministry of Education has been attempting to curb elitism in the education system.

Abstract:
BackgroundWaste recyclers at landfill sites separate, collect and sell recyclable solid waste. They do not receive Occupational Health and Saftey (OHS) training, personal protective equipment (PPE) or health support. There is limited information of the extent of adverse health outcomes experienced by waste recyclers in South Africa. The objective of this study was to assess the prevalence and possible risk factors for injuries experienced by waste recyclers.MethodsA cross sectional study was conducted among waste recyclers working in two landfill sites. Interviews were conducted with 361 waste recyclers using a structured questionnaire with information on socio-demographic history, exposures and injuries experienced. Logistic regression with OR was used to determine the significant risk factors for having experienced an injury in the last 6 months.ResultsThe average age was 33.7 years, range of 18–81 year. The majority were male (73.4%) and had completed secondary school education (77.8%). The average income earned was $119 per month and 51% lived in informal dwellings. Exposures included rodents (91%), lifting heavy object (87%), dogs (78%), chemicals (66%), needles (43 .%), falling waste (38%) and violence (20%). Although 90% of participants stated they wore some kind of PPE, this was not always suitable for the work conducted. 33% experienced an injury. The commonest injuries were bitten by rats (90%), falls on site (46.7%), muscular pain (29%), dog attacks (21%), violence from other waste pickers (20%) and needle stick injuries (20%). Logistic regression results showed that being male (crude OR 2.94, 95% CI- 1.399–6.195) and age <34 years (crude OR=2.69, 95% CI 4.145–4.988) were significant risk factors for injuries.ConclusionThere is a high prevalence of injuries experienced by waste recyclers at landfill sites. OHS awareness and use of appropriate PPE should be provided to waste recyclers in order to prevent occupationally related injuries.

Abstract:
Objective: To describe the methodology of the 2014 Ontario Child Health Study (OCHS): a province-wide, cross-sectional, epidemiologic study of child health and mental disorder among 4- to 17-year-olds living in household dwellings. Method: Implemented by Statistics Canada, the 2014 OCHS was led by academic researchers at the Offord Centre for Child Studies (McMaster University). Eligible households included families with children aged 4 to 17 years, who were listed on the 2014 Canadian Child Tax Benefit File. The survey design included area and household stratification by income and 3-stage cluster sampling of areas and households to yield a probability sample of families. Results: The 2014 OCHS included 6,537 responding households (50.8%) with 10,802 children aged 4 to 17 years. Lower income families living in low-income neighbourhoods were less likely to participate. In addition to measures of childhood mental disorder assessed by the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview for Children and Adolescents (MINI-KID) and OCHS Emotional Behavioural Scales (OCHS-EBS), the survey contains measures of neighbourhoods, schools, families and children, and includes administrative data held by the Ministries of Education and Health and Long-Term Care. Conclusions: The complex survey design and differential non-response of the 2014 OCHS required the use of sampling weights and adjustment for design effects. The study is available throughout Canada in the Statistics Canada Research Data Centres (RDCs). We urge external investigators to access the study through the RDCs or to contact us directly to collaborate on future secondary analysis studies based on the OCHS.

Abstract:
Abstract. UN set 17 common goals to be achieved in less than two decades in 2015. These are known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and are part of a global strategy called Agenda 2030. Education has been proposed as a fundamental element for the achievement of the SDGs, with all components of the education system being essential to contribute to a more economically, socially and environmentally sustainable world. Specifically, Physical Education (PE) has been described as a subject that has important characteristics in achieving the SDGs; however, in previous literature there is still no research aimed at assessing PE teachers' interventions in sustainability. In order to investigate this area, this study aims to explore PEFs' knowledge of the SDGs. For this purpose, a qualitative-exploratory interview-based study was conducted. Twelve secondary school DEFs (six female) responded to eight questions grouped into three dimensions. The concept of sustainability, the analysis of sustainable behaviors and considerations on the value of Physical Education in contributing to the achievement of the SDGs. The results showed that the DEFs conceive sustainability mainly as an environmental issue, leaving aside the economic and social aspects. Furthermore, most of them confirm that they do not engage in any kind of sustainable behavior in class, limiting themselves to teaching the contents of the subject. Finally, they point out SDG 3 "Health and well-being" as the one most related to Physical Education, mentioning SDG 5 "Gender equality" and SDG 16 "Peace and social justice" secondarily. These results will help to establish future interventions and research aimed at improving teaching actions within the framework of Physical Education.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT India and the Indian subcontinent is the most populated geographical area of the world (1.2 billion in India). Also medical needs of this subcontinent are the biggest in form of trained manpower and resources. Human resources for health are all individuals engaged in promotion and protection or improvement of health (WHO 2007). Indian subcontinent specially Indian has the largest number of medical colleges (350 in Indian) and we treat a significant number of medical tourism (second after Thailand), this is a reflection of the high level of medical expertize we posses, yet the paradox is that majority of our citizens have limited access to quality health care. Why such a situation has arisen in India, we try to analyze by relooking at the clinical settings where doctors avail training. This review aims to look at the challenges of medical education and role of professional organizations like FOGSI, ICOG, ICMU, IFUMB and IMA in training and educating the practising gynecologists in the field of Obs/Gyn ultrasound. Abstract:
The increasing global concerns about the environmental degradation and climate changes oblige architecture students to apply sustainable design approaches in their studio projects. Therefore, renewable energy raises the expectation of providing sustainable solutions for their architectural design proposals. This paper aims to investigate the learning of students in knowledge, awareness and applicability on sustainability during their first three years of the part 1 architecture programme. Surveys were conducted on 500 students from eight architecture schools from the local universities, two architecture schools from the polytechnic colleges and three architectural schools from the overseas universities. These survey results from 335 respondents confirmed that the learning on sustainability through self (51.6%), peer (48.6%) and design studio lecturers (37.0%). These results confirmed also that most respondents did rely on pre-design assessments to develop sustainable design strategies in their final architectural design proposals. These results concluded that the perception of architecture students on learning sustainability is based mainly on other sources. These findings provide knowledge for educationists and practitioners towards the planning of architecture curriculum and the implementation of pedagogical approach in sustainability. This paper determines the most important source of learning on sustainability knowledge for students in the pedagogy at university level.

Abstract:
Today, an important part of an education system is use of various didactic tools. Among them a significant role belongs to didactic games that allow realising purposeful development of intellectual skills of children, their interest in studies, as well as formation of creative potential and independent work in teaching history. In the course of analysis of an experience of using didactic games at history lessons, the authors were guided by works of S.A. Ezhov, O.S. Gazman, V.P. Bespalko, R.M. Mironova, P.I. Pidkasistiy, G.K. Selevko et al. The empirical basis of the study included practical classes of teachers of history in Magnitogorsk and their analysis at methodological seminars and round tables. Besides, the authors used guidance papers published earlier. An important source and a legal basis for application of didactic games at school are the Federal State Educational Standard. To achieve the set goal, such methods were applied as: a method of generalizing advanced practices of teachers of history; a study of foreign and domestic scientific works in psychology, pedagogy, devoted to the problems of education, non-traditional forms of teaching lessons, modern pedagogical technologies. At present, in the historical education, role-playing, theatrical and business games have gained the most widespread. Analysis of these games and peculiarities of their use at school among schoolchildren of different age groups has shown that a business game should be used predominantly at high school, while role-playing and theatricalized games have already become applicable in 5-7 grades.

Abstract:
Abstract. Many cases of juvenile delinquency that occurred in the community allegedly be-cause there are lack of exemplary and intensive supervision in our educational and community components. According to this reality, it is urgent to know the strategy of strengthening character education in schools to prevent juvenile delinquency. The purpose of this paper is to examine strat-egies in preventing juvenile delinquency through strengthening character education. This paper uses the theory of habituation from the Skinner, such as spontaneous activities, exemplary meth-ods are also a series of behaviorism theory from John Watson, and conditioning activities that are similar to behaviorism theory from Edwin Guthrie . This study includes the type of literature study research by finding reference theory that relevant to the cases or problems found. The data that have been obtained then analyzed by descriptive analysis method. The conclusions from this litera-ture study includes 1) education in Indonesia still focused on cognitive aspect or academic, while the aspect of soft skills or non academic which is the main element of character education so far still get less attention. 2) implementation of strategies to strengthen character education in schools in preventing juvenile delinquency, can be integrated into existing subjects, local content, self-development. 3) the headmaster as the leader of the school organization is fully responsible for the character building of students, so as a model school requires special efforts to integrate the values of character into the learning process and routine activities in schools. Based on the above conclu-sions, some suggestions were formulated: 1) learning in schools should focus on soft skills or non academic (affective and psychomotor) which are the main elements of character education through teaching and learning activities or extracurricular activities; 2)The national education ministries should formulate learning models that use the character component as the largest com-ponent; 3) the national education ministry should cooperate with TNI and POLRI by conducting education to defend the country that there are character and nationalism elements.

Abstract:
A study was conducted to compare validity, clinical, content, and supplementary scale scores of Hispanic adolescents to normative data on the MMPI-A. Volunteers, 30 boys, 17 girls, were Hispanic adolescents, aged 14 to 18 years from school and after-school settings. Analysis indicated elevated T score means on F1 (66), F2 (68), F (68), L (61), Hs (61), D (63), Sc (62), A-hea (63), A-biz (63), A-lse (61), A-las (60), A-sch (61), and IMM (61) scales for boys. Scores for low aspirations, low self-esteem, immaturity, and school problems were all interrelated. For girls, scores on no scales were elevated, but on several scales mean T scores, Hs, Hy, Ma, Si, A-anx, A-obs, A-hea, A-ang, A-las, MAC-R, and ACK, were below average This suggests the MMPI-A may underpathologize for girls. Consistent with previous findings, the boys scored higher on the Immaturity Scale than the girls. It was speculated that the boys' dislike for school and low aspirations were related to the lower education and employment of their fathers compared to those for the normative sample. The A-las, A-sch, and IMM scales may prove to be useful in identifying adolescent boys “at-risk” for dropping out of school, if replication with much larger samples confirms present findings.

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to provide a structured collection of case studies organized around the core discussion of how to address the subject of digital media in schools of design in general and architecture in particular. By means of these case studies it will be possible to understand the trajectory that we have followed in the Department of Architecture at Texas A&M University, having as main goal the incorporation of digital media instruction in design curricula and to assess whether our instructional methods and strategies are in tune with our present understanding of the role of digital media in design. The case studies have been organized following three main contextual themes, namely: shaping our understanding of the role of digital media in design, incorporating digital media in the design studio, and adapting to the availability of new technology. The paper includes the identification of critical issues, among them: polarization between traditional and digital media, solutions for continuous learning and update, and pervasive accessibility of digital means. The paper states conclusions and identifies the opportunities and challenges that we foresee in the near future based on the implementation of multidisciplinary integration and the development of multimodal and media-rich design environments.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT The purpose of the article is to verify the creation and monitoring of educational indicators for the fulfillment of SDG 4, aiming to ensure quality inclusive and equitable education, promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all in the eleven municipalities that make up the AMFRI (Balneário Camboriú, Balneário Piçarras, Bombinhas, Camboriú, Ilhota, Itajaí, Itapema, Luiz Alves, Navegantes, Penha and Porto Belo). The general objective is to investigate how educational indicators in the region are currently being created and, if in the way they are being managed, such indicators fulfill the function of promoting the implementation of public policies that ensure an inclusive, equitable and quality education, as proposed. o SDG 4. It was found that in the AMFRI region, educational indicators originate from sample surveys such as the School Census, and from the databases of the State Department of Education of Santa Catarina. The data do not reflect the specificities and local reality of each educational unit and therefore, the way they are being applied, such indicators may not be fully fulfilling the function of promoting the implementation of public policies that ensure an inclusive, equitable and quality education, as proposed by SDG 4. Educational units in the region suffered the same impacts as units in other Brazilian regions. As for the methodology, the inductive method was used with the techniques of doctrinal, legislative and documentary analysis. Keywords: Social Indicators; Education; AMFRI; SDG 4.
