Abstract:
School excursion tourism is a relatively underresearched and poorly understood segment of the tourism industry despite its strong economic potential. this article draws on the leisure constraints theory to examine barriers to overnight school excursions in Australia. A self-completed online survey by 1,314 school excursion decision makers measured the importance of these constraints to overnight school excursions, together with information on the schools' characteristics. the results reveal a four-factor structure instead of a three-factor structure, with structural constraints divided into destination and school-based structural factors. Intrapersonal and interpersonal constraints were also found to be important in undertaking overnight school excursions. Our analysis also revealed that constraints differ based on school characteristics, reconfirming that the school market is not a homogenous one. the article concludes with recommendations for destination and attraction managers interested in increasing school excursion visitations.

Abstract:
The article deals the views of authoritative researchers of excursion business on school excursion as a leading form of pedagogical process. The concepts of “excursion” and “school excursion” are analyzed, and the basic views on the classification of school excursions are given. The author of the article also gives the main functions and didactic principles of organizing and conducting a school tour. A school excursion is a special form of pedagogical process, the basis of which is a methodically well-thought-out display of sights, historical and cultural monuments, analysis of objects visited by students, as well as a meaningful story of the tour guide about events related to these objects. This publication emphasizes that the fundamental pedagogical principles of teaching and education are central to the organization and conduct of school excursions. And the presence of the basic elements of pedagogy in excursion activity allows to define it as pedagogical process in which the central place is given to the tour guide who carries out two pedagogical tasks – didactic and educational.

Abstract:
Active formation of extracurricular education in the post-reform period was due to the fact that the Russian Empire in the second half of the XIX century experienced changes in the political, economic, social and cultural spheres. Studying the history of extracurricular education in the post-reform period is important from the standpoint of a holistic understanding of the Russian post-reform period. To study the state of extracurricular education in Russia taken as a whole, it is necessary to study it in detail on the materials of various regions. In the post-reform period, new teaching methods were developed in Russian educational institutions. The excursion method of teaching became very popular. The initiator of the introducing excursions in the life of Chuvash schools is I.Ya. Yakovlev. The purpose of the work is to study the issue of organizing and implementing the excursion method of teaching in pre-revolutionary Chuvashia. In this article, archival data are introduced into scientific circulation, which enable to examine the process of introducing excursion practices in educational institutions of Chuvashia in the second half of the XIX – early XX century. The main attention is paid to the types of school excursions and their educational potential. The methodological basis of the work is made up of the principles of historicism in combination with a systematic approach, which made it possible to examine the introduction of the excursion teaching method in a historical retrospect. In addition, the article examines the first attempts on the part of the government to regularize schoolchildren excursions in the school, as well as describes the role of the print media in popularizing excursions. The practical significance of the study is to draw the attention of historians to an insufficiently studied issue.

Abstract:
The paper considers the didactic potential of the lesson-excursion for the development and enrichment of oral and written speech of pupils, motivating their cognitive activity. Particular attention is paid to the formation of speech competencies and a positive attitude to learning. The relevance of the study is due to the need to understand the possibilities of lessons-excursions in terms of speech development of modern schoolchildren. The research methodology contains general theoretical and special methods. The purpose of the study is to describe and characterize non-standard lessons-excursions to the library for secondary pupils. It is determined that the lesson-excursion in secondary school is used mainly for the purpose of learning about the world in the lessons of science, geography, history. Instead, the use of such lessons to develop speech is quite limited. The potential of using the excursion in terms of speech development remains undiscovered, i.e. requires a systematic analysis, the purpose of which is to describe and characterize non-standard lessons-excursions for secondary pupils that help develop oral and written speech. Lessons-excursions is an event that involves pupils in various activities that are closely related to the needs of life, clearly demonstrating how the theoretical knowledge gained during training, applied in practice, in a particular situation. The paper comprehends the experience of conducting lessons-excursions in the Ukrainian language for pupils of 5-6 grades. These lessons were developed and conducted within the educational practice of future teachers of Ukrainian language and literature who are studying at the Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi National University. Step-by-step algorithms of lessons-excursions in the library are given. Various practical tasks of problematic and creative character are offered, which it is expedient to use at lessons-excursions for development of oral and written speech. The proposed practical tasks and exercises systematize knowledge, improve language skills, develop creative abilities and improve children's oral and written speech. Key words: excursion lesson, non-standard lesson, basic school, speech competence, oral and written speech.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the review of the excursion to Yaroslavl of rural school children in 1911. It was the teacher of the primary school of the village Borisoglebskie slobody S. Maksheev who described this excursion. The report of the teacher is very detailed. This rare document depicts the inclusiveness of the rural school into pedagogical innovations of the beginning of the 20th century. Russian teachers of that period tried to avoid bureaucratic formalities in the process of education. They seeked new forms of teaching to approach school to the real life, to make a learning process more vivid and visual and to expand horizons of their pupils. Such new forms of teaching they found in school trips. The teachers of the Yaroslavl region were very active in the process of organization of the excursions. Teachers of the Rostov district were the most active. The excursion of the Borisoglebian school children was one of the first. It was well prepared and well spent. It also reflected rules of the excursions that later would be common for educational tours. S. Maksheev showed advantage of the excursion for his pupils convincingly. His conclusion about cognitive and educational value of excursion corresponded with the opinion of many other teachers about great potential opportunities to improve school education. The excursion of the Borisoglebian school children in 1911 reflected that fact that village teachers of the Yaroslavl region took an active part in the all-Russia process of realization of new forms of teaching. It was specific compensation of the lack of systematic reform of the school education

Basing on the archives´ documents the article looks at the practice of organization of excursions for students to the Crimea in the late 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Excursion tourist experience of educational institutions in Vyatskaya province, Elabuga girls´ school in particular, is taken as an example to show the way how cultural and educational excursions for students to the Crimea were organized. Detailed account of one of the excursions to the Crimea, published in Vyatskaya diocesan record by one of the students, reveals the role of the Crimean mountain club in the development of cultural and educational excursions for students. All the excursions were arranged in accordance with specially designed programmers under the supervision of the members of the Crimean club and were aimed at familiarizing students with natural and historical monuments in the Crimea. The article gives an example of one excursion itinerary. The author looks into innovative activities of the Crimean mountain club within the tourism industry of the given period. When looking at the Crimean mountain club activities, special attention is paid to its Yalta branch. Yalta branch pioneered organization of excursions for students in Russia. At that time student excursions were one-day trips in the vicinity of Yalta. Much attention is given to the main directions in the work of the Crimean mountain club branch in Yalta, that contributed to the development and popularization of cultural and educational excursions for students, to designing new itineraries and routes (walking, riding, sea, carriage and combined excursions). Moreover Yalta branch negotiated intensely with the suppliers of horses and carriage owners of accommodation and did their best to make excursions for students cheaper.

This paper is a narrative of John Dalton's summer excursions, for which he never allowed more than a fortnight away from his work, but which seldom failed to include a visit to his beloved Lakeland. The story of these excursions was first told by Jonathan Otley, his guide and companion on these occasions, who provided it at the request of William Charles Henry, Dalton's official biographer. A brief summary of Otley's account is included in this paper; but Dalton's own accounts, as reported in letters to John Fletcher, his first teacher at the village school at Pardshaw Hall, have not been published previously. Owing to my having acquired, about 20 years ago, the originals of some of these letters, I am able here to amplify Otley's accounts with Dalton's own fuller narrative.

Abstract:
Once the cornerstone of sciences, student excursions have become adventurous social events, the value of which should be reconsidered. Since recommendations for organization of student excursions are mostly based on research findings and practitioners? experiences, we have attempted to base them on the assumptions of contemporary theories of development, learning and motivation. Potential recommendations for organization of quality student excursions are derived from the constructivist theory of cognitive development, experiential learning theory and self-determination theory. The main recommendations refer to: establishing the link between excursions and the curriculum; a student-centred approach; students? autonomy in planning and organizing excursions; promoting research activities in students; promoting joint activities of students and teachers, as well as joint activities of students, and authentic experiences in the out-of-school context. Recommendations are grouped into five categories: integrating excursions in the curriculum; motivating students; structure and authenticity of activities; encouraging students to think; social interaction during excursions. Research findings indicate that there is a gap between theory and practice of organizing students excursions. This situation is mostly explained by logistic and system shortcomings. We therefore suggest a more serious discussion of the place of excursions in the curriculum, financial support to their organization and reinforcing teachers to implement this form of teaching.

Abstract:
Civil and patriotic education is a priority of education at the present stage of society development. Traditional forms of work (lectures, lesson, class hours) does not allow to generate inner attitude in students, so the new methods and techniques, providing an active position of schoolchildren and experience of socially approved independent work, are in necessity. Excursions in the school museum conducted by trainees can be regarded as a form of such work. But the organization of excursions or preparation of the exhibition requires forming of appropriate competences in schoolchildren. Teachers working in this area have experienced a number of scientific and methodological, methodical and organizational difficulties. The temporary creative team has analyzed existing practices in this field, has taken into account the shortcomings, and has used the best practices of educational institutions. The methodology and technology training of tour guides for museums in educational organizations are summarized in the program "Young Tour Guide School". The article presents additional educational program for school museums tour guides, developed by experts of Center for children and youth tourism and excursions in Yaroslavl region, staff of Agency for Tourism in Yaroslavl region, and scientists from leading universities of Yaroslavl. The program includes curriculum, methodical and didactic support. The authors have developed assessment criteria of the effectiveness of this educational program, which allows monitoring the educational activity. Abstract:
In 2017/2018 the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MŠMT) implemented a project of experimental verification called the “Educational Programmes of Memory Institutions in Schools”. It was coordinated by the National Pedagogical Museum and Library of J. A. Comenius (NPMK). The goal of the project was to promote educational excursions of primary school pupils to memory institutions. The project stems from the premise that a school’s well-advised selection ofsuitable educational topics from the wide array offered by museums and memorials and the deliberate use of attractive methods for the mediation of new knowledge to the pupils in an informal setting can be key to solving the general disinterest of the young generation in educational incentives. It can also be helpful in starting up the process of awareness and creating values among children and youth. The experimental verification report provides a series of quantitative and qualitative findings. The de-tailed final project report is published on the NPMK website. 69 115 pupils visited cooperating memory institutions during the first round of experimental verification. MŠMT granted 240 000 CZK per school per academic year. Schools considered this amount as sufficient. The lack of funds needed to cover transportation is the largest obstacle for excursions, in addition to the insufficient capacity of educational programmes of memory institutions. The project continued in the following year.

Pre-primary school education in natural sciences running in the real and virtual world is applying to pre-primary children and to individual education. Children could be educated with groups at school or outside school premises. Children of contemporary generation Z grow up in the era of digital technology. These children are interested and involved in several activities and change them often. The goal of the teacher is to prepare the projects of natural sciences that let children use digital technology. The latter helps to liven educational process and children could be more interested in the activity. Pre-primary school children create, explore, enjoy, solve problems, think critically, search for information, work together as a team while dealing with investigative, creative and educational work. While sharing the ideas and experience with others, children involve their parents and community of the kindergarten in the activities. Trips, excursions, virtual journeys help the children to express themselves, cooperate, gain self-esteem and rely on others, help to be responsible, strengthen reciprocal relations between nature, child, teacher and society. Abstract:
Positive teacher-student relationships are protective for various health outcomes in adolescence. Evidence suggests that outdoor education programs, such as Outward Bound (OB), have the potential to encourage social skill development, but little research has investigated programs’ effects on teacher-student relationships. This study assessed high-school teacher connectedness following participation in OB excursions. Twelve in-depth interviews with teachers and two focus groups with OB instructors were conducted in the Chesapeake Bay area. Data were analyzed in Atlas.ti using an iterative, Grounded Theory methodology. As OB trips altered the role teachers often played in their classrooms, informants perceived increased trust with participating students as they developed shared memories. The effects of OB extend beyond individual-level outcomes to encourage positive relationships between high-school teachers and their students. Given these findings, educators may want to consider incorporating outdoor education programs into their curricula as a way to engage teachers and students beyond their prescribed roles in the classroom.

Abstract:
Although the General education programmes are aimed at developing children’s abilities to understand and communicate with the world of nature and to know the closest environment, the modern educational system devotes scant attention to environmental studies. Theoretically, everyone at school accepts the importance of research on environmental issues, however, practically only the teachers willing to discover something new are involved in such activities. Environmental education becomes more amateur. The believers in environmental research as the most efficient perception method do not have a feeling of disappointment. This is the exact media where social and ethical problems are successfully solved, socialization of children takes place, self-expression is encouraged, an attitude to protect nature is formed and abilities of scientific acquisition are developed. Mathematics is a valuable tool of environmental research in primary school. The author supposes that a right combination of mathematics and environmental studies can help with achieving positive results. Researching the immediate nature is the most efficient way to know it. The children acknowledge the environment through seeing, hearing, touching, smelling and sometimes tasting. Along environment acquisition, the valuable attitudes such as aesthetical perception and the moral culture are acquired. Environmental studies provides information necessary for successful teaching of natural sciences. The environment-centred activities assist the learners in gaining the initial skills at collecting and processing information. In the majority of cases, environmental studies cannot be imagined without mathematics, and therefore an accurate combination of mathematics and environmental education must be performed. In this case, a teacher experiences serious difficulties that can be overcome by the scientists fairly familiar with the methodologies of these subjects. The mother tongue, arts, physical education etc. encounter the same situation. The teachers and class mentors arrange plenty of nature trips, excursions and sightseeing tours. Nevertheless, due to lack of a clear policy and modern methodologies these activities are poorly coherent. Environmental studies are sponsored by private initiatives and thus not always are balanced and suffer from shortage of consistency, purposefulness and continuation. Key words: environmental studies, primary school, environment-centred activities.

Abstract:
A significant role in the educational process of the school is given to extracurricular and extracurricular work. In modern conditions, when the existence of Ukrainians as a nation is threatened, patriotic education of modern youth acquires great importance. It is the local studies direction of education that forms children's interest in studying the history and nature of their native land, features of culture, language, and famous figures. Students of tourist and local history groups should develop national consciousness and pride for their small Motherland during excursions, classes in the classroom or in nature. That is why it is necessary to develop extracurricular work in the field of tourism and local history in institutions of general secondary education. However, practice shows that Kryvyi Rih schools do not use the opportunity to create extracurricular associations in the above-mentioned direction. Thus, there is a need to create tourism and local history clubs on the basis of general educational institutions. The club as a form of work organization expands the opportunities of those who study, involves children of different ages in the learning process, but the general direction of the club 's work takes place within the framework of a defined program. The program developed by us ensures the fulfillment of all tasks set by the head of the group, competencies that students must acquire during theoretical and practical classes. The program contains 7 sections that allow you to explore in detail and learn about Kryvyi Rih, to appreciate the beauty of the native land with the help of excursion routes.

Abstract:
We examine various aspects of the introduction of polytechnic education in educational institutions of the Central Black Earth Region. The relevance of the study is justified primarily by the fact that this aspect of the development of domestic education has not been previously studied, and also by novelty of archival documents introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. We focus on the legislative consolidation of the principles of polytechnism in the framework of the educational reform in the early 30s of 20th century, as well as on the theoretical understanding of the technological aspect of the educational process. The purpose of this research is to study the state policy aimed at developing labor training and education in lower and secondary educational institutions and implementing its aspects in the Central Black Earth Region. The study analyzes the measures taken by the regional authorities within the framework of implementing the party’s policy on education polytechnization: increasing the number of workshops and workrooms, purchasing equipment, assigning household plots to schools, organizing clubs and competitions, conducting excursions to enterprises, improving the skills of school employees and librarians, helping them establish contacts with enterprises and allocating them experienced engineers and technicians to work in schools. We examine the difficulties that accompanied school polytechnization. They included: poor equipment of workshops, low qualifications of instructors and teachers, unwillingness of managers of a number of organizations to meet halfway with schools, formalism in organizing socialist competitions and contracts with enterprises, underestimation by school administrators and teachers of the importance of technical training. In conclusion, we summarize the achievements and shortcomings of the polytechnic aspect of the educational process in the Central Black Earth Region of the early 1930s, and outline further prospects for labor training in Soviet schools.

Abstract:
In autumn 2011, a pilot project was launched at Olari School and High School the aim of which was to implement and utilize tablets in high school education and evaluation. Apple iPads were chosen as the used tablets. At first, few teachers and the principal were in charge of the pilot project and eventually the project expanded and in spring 2013 there were 90 tablets for student use and every teacher had one’s personal tablet. The impact of tablets on learning and pedagogical solutions has been significant. The positive aspects of iPad use include their portability and use potential during for example excursions and school trips. They serve as good tools in project work due to the simplicity of information search and data saving. Also, photos of teaching and practical laboratory work, for example, can be saved using iPad. Occasionally, the limitations to wireless network and other technical difficulties have discouraged the users. For teachers, the utilization of iPads has meant that plenty of extra time has been consumed on education and development of new practices. The cost of applications limits their accessibility on shared tablets. For now, there are so few Finnish-language applets for the teaching of different subjects that their benefits are not necessarily significant. However, the biggest challenge is the lack of time. In chemistry teaching, iPads have been used in several ways. Different programs and applications have been used in projects, essays, and reporting on laboratory work. Electronic Fronter learning platform can be used with iPads, also microcomputer-based laboratory equipment by Pasco can be connected to iPad while, for example, measuring pH.

The human-nature relationship is a topical issue of modern nature management. The knowledge accu-mulated by ancestors is the basis for the ecological thinking of subsequent generations. There is not a single nation in the world that does not have its own system of ecological traditions, through which rela-tions with the surrounding world are regulated. However, the interest in nature-study is noticeably decreasing among today’s youth. The authors sug-gest one of the possible solutions to this problem. It has long been chosen as a school trip destination for Japanese students and is recognised as an exemplary destination for domestic travel, and is considered as one of the top destinations in the world to visit. However, the visiting crowds tend to congregate in just a few places, which leads to overcrowding and can make tourist attractions less appealing. This can have a detrimental effect on a city's tourism and lead to a sharp fall in revenue. Abstract:
The article is devoted to the introduction of innovative technologies in the learning process. The authors emphasize the fact that innovative teaching activities are an important component of the educational process. The authors note that this is the foundation on which to build a competitive institution in the education market. Innovative activities are related to both scientific and methodical work of teachers and to teaching and research and scientific practice of students. The purpose of innovation is a qualitative change in the personality of a student. This differs from the traditional education system and involves the use of interactive teaching methods. High-performance, implementing non-traditional forms of training, development and education of students are the following approaches: brainstorming workshops, project development, role-playing game, excursions. The paper examines in detail one of the methods of interactive learning foreign languages - excursion. The authors conclude that the use of this method is dictated by the specifics of training of future professionals who will work in the tourism and hospitality industry and it helps to transform foreign language from passive to active skill. Based on the analysis of joint activities it is established that there is an interaction of students with each other and the teacher, who becomes an equal partner and consultant. The task of the authors of this article is to determine the value of the excursion as one of the interactive methods of teaching foreign languages in high school, to familiarize the reader with the experience of the application of this method in the teaching of foreign languages at Russian State University of Tourism and Service.

Abstract:
AbstractThe article reveals the dynamics of forming readiness for foreign language communication of future tourism employees in higher school. To trace it, a complex of theoretical and empirical methods was used: literature overview, comparison, systematization and generalization, questioning, testing, pedagogical observation, survey, statistical calculations of the obtained results. In the pedagogical experiment the accent was put on the content component of the formation of students’ readiness for foreign language communication. 600 university students participated in it. Firstly, introductory level of students’ knowledge was defined. Secondly, the dynamics of forming students’ readiness for foreign language communication was checked in four types of activities: listening, reading, writing and speaking. The authors worked out the original pedagogical technology which included practical classes, independent work, special courses, excursions, gamification, system of exercises and tasks based exclusively on tourism industry oriented content. The analysis of the molding experiment results illustrated that the level of students’ readiness for foreign language communication according to the content criterion significantly increased.

Abstract:
Objectives: Children with type 1 diabetes (T1D) need a supportive, non-stigmatizing school environment for self-care activities such as checking blood glucose (BG) and taking pre-meal insulin. Data about T1D self-care in schools in developing countries are scarce. We looked at diabetes self-care activities at school, and attitudes of school staff toward diabetes care. Material and Methods: We interviewed, over an 8-week period, consecutive patient-parent dyads attending T1D clinics in North (Delhi, Gurgaon, and Kanpur), West (Aurangabad), and South (Hyderabad) India. Results: We received responses from 397 patients, 51% of boys. Mean age was 11.7 years (SD: 3.7), mean age at diagnosis 7.2 years (SD: 3.7), and mean diabetes duration 4.5 years (SD: 3.5). A majority (69.8%) were attending private (fee paying) schools (PS) and the rest were studying at government (subsidized/free) schools (GS). More than half of the parents had high educational status: graduate or more (mothers: 52.1%, fathers: 56.9%). Parents visited school daily in 17.1%, significantly more if they had high educational status and if the child was <6 years. Less than half (47.4%) were administering a pre-meal insulin bolus at school (self-injection: 33%, by parent: 12.9%, and by staff: 1.5%); only 24.4% were checking BG regularly (< once per week) at school. The odds of performing diabetes self-care activities at school were significantly higher in children attending PS compared to GS (OR: 3.17, 95% CI: 1.99–5.03 for taking insulin, OR: 3.24, 95% CI: 1.75–5.98 for regular BG checking). The odds of taking insulin at school were also higher with higher parental education (OR: 2.81, 95% CI: 1.87–4.24 for mother’s education, OR: 3.02, 95% CI: 1.99–4.57 for father’s). Testing and injecting we done in classroom (26.2%); medical room (16.1%), staffroom (7.8%), or toilet (2.5%). School insisted on secrecy in 12.6%, excluded children with T1D from sports/excursions in 17.9%, refused permission for injecting in 4.3%, for testing 15.9%, and for pre-activity snack 7.6%. This non-supportive behavior was equal in PS and GS. PS had slightly better care infrastructure such as availability of glucometer (29.6% vs. 3.3%), sick room (21.7% vs. 0.3%), and dedicated nurse (9.7% vs. none). Conclusion: Half of our children were able to manage T1D self-care in school, as schools were often supportive, whether private or government. Parental educational status was positively associated with better care. Although self-care was better in PS and they had better infrastructure, there is much scope for improvement.
