Abstract:
Cut peonies (Paeonia lactiflora Pall.) have a relatively short vase life and limited availability due to seasonal production. Cultivars Festiva Maxima (FM), Monsieur Jules Elie (MJE), and Sarah Bernhardt (SB) stored at 0.7 °C had a longer flower open time at 12 weeks of storage compared to those held at −3.1 or 3.5 °C, while the flower bud time was unaffected. The flower open time of FM and MJE was no different for stems stored at a sub-zero temperature of −0.6 °C for 16 weeks compared to non-stored stems. Flower quality, opening, and lack of deformity was reduced at 16 weeks of storage in comparison to non-stored flowers, but higher for stems stored at −0.6 °C compared to 0.7 °C. Pre-treating stems before storage with pulses of a commercial hydrator solution or a 200 g·L−1 sucrose solution for 2 h at 4 °C had little commercial significance compared to non-pulsed control stems. The total phenolic content, malondialdehyde, and superoxide dismutase were not effective indicators of open time or quality loss. This study is the first to demonstrate the successful use of a non-freezing, sub-zero storage temperature for peony, and the first to store cut peonies for 16 weeks, despite an increased risk of reduced flower quality.

Abstract:
Sarah fielding was henry fielding's sister and samuel richardson's friend. She was a journalist, a novelist, a critique, and a translator. She was a very learned lady, she mastered greek and latin, and translated xenophon's memorabilia from the greek. Very few women in the 18 th century could make so good translation of a greek classic. Her works include 8 novels, and the first piece of criticism on richardson's clarissa. David simple (1744), her first novel, is a peripatetic and heuristic novel : like joseph andrews. The governess (1749) is the first piece of children's literature. Its philosophy of education is inspired by locke. The moralistic design, related to sarah fielding's latitudinarianism, is prevailing in all her novels. Both writing and reading should be guided by this christian, moralistic aim. Sarah fielding's other novels ponder over women's conditions in 18th century england, male female relationships, and women's relation to language. Her whole work is a plea for woman7s education and moral independence. It announces mary wollstonecraft vindication of the rights of woman, whose tone is nevertheless more aggressive, and defends woman's economic independence ( in sarah fielding's novels this concept doesn't appear)

This paper aims to find out what lex Sarah is and how the process looks like when it comes to the investigation, from reporting to registration to the IVO, the inspection of health and social care. Who investigates, the objective of the lex Sarah and how many cases of reports that comes to registration from the year between 2010-2014. Which legal consequences it can be for an employee who has been notified is investigated also. Previous research only deals with freedom of speech, criticism and the complaint goes to the asset, and because of that, this paper focuses on individual cases where employees ' perception of a lex Sarah-registration gives a psychosocial approach. The paper is limited to a municipality where statistics are retrieved and a comparison at a national level is performed. Furthermore, two interviews conducted with a socially responsible Coordinator (SAS)who is the responsible lex Sarah-investigators in the municipality and a Union representative person who can provide a possible picture of how people who have been in a lex Sarah-case, feel about that and also persons who have been suspended from their jobs because of the investigation, experienced the situations. It´s clear that people who ends up in situations like this is feeling very sad and gets in chock when they get a message that says they are involved in a lex Sarah-reporting.

"Evaluation of Organic Acids Implementation in Stimulating Tight Gas Reservoirs: A Case Study on Sarah Sandstone Formation." In SPE Conference at Oman Petroleum & Energy Show. SPE, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.2118/200242-ms.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract Sandstone formations are yet stimulated with mud acid when matrix acidizing is most competent. In terms of high-pressure high-temperature (HP-HT) conditions, the corrosive impact of hydrochloric (HCl) acid prompted the need to explore other alternatives to mud acid. This study examines the efficiency of organic acids in stimulating Sarah sandstone, a tight gas formation of potential. Two Berea cores were first exploited to investigate the optimum and most efficient injected acid volume. The mineralogy of Sarah formation was identified using X-ray diffraction (XRD) aided by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Formation mineralogy led to the selection of acetic-HF and oxalic-HF as proper acids for stimulation experiments. Bentonite water-base mud was used to alter the permeability of three fresh Sarah sandstone core samples. The organic-HF acids were used to stimulate two core samples, while mud acid was tested in the third core for comparison. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDX) and SEM were utilized to study the impact of acids on porous media. Experiments conducted in Berea core samples led to the execution of five pore volumes (PV) of preflush and one PV of main treatment as the optimum volume during the acidizing trials. XRD and SEM identified pore-filling clay minerals causing the low permeability of Sarah formation. Furthermore, the water-base mud injected decreased the permeability further by 80%. Oxalic-HF and acetic-HF mixtures recovered the initial permeability of core samples by 46% and 35% respectively. SEM-EDX results showed how organic acids have partially unblocked the pathways of the structural pores leading to permeability enhancement. This research not only recommends the use of oxalic-HF acid for acidizing Sarah sandstone formation but also spotlights the ability of organic acids employment as preflush in hydraulic fracturing operations.

Abstract:
What is a ‘science superpower’? Sarah Main and Graeme Reid explore reactions to the term from stakeholders across the UK and examine alternative versions of a future in which ‘science superpower’ status is achieved. Their report is published today by the Foundation for Science and Technology. Jeremy Hunt, Rishi Sunak, Boris Johnson, George Freeman and other senior figures in government use the phrase ‘science superpower’ as a headline for ambitious, visionary science policy. It is a potent phrase but open to varied interpretation. By exploring scenarios in which the UK has achieved ‘science superpower’ status by different means, the authors stimulate debate about the desired characteristics of this status and highlight the choices facing policy-makers on the path to become a more research-intensive UK.
