The process of modernising the hospital was indeed to lead to the progressive alienation of the institution's rich historical patrimony, including the scientific collections. In tracing back the negotiations that led to the sale of the Viviani collection, archive documents have also brought to light the collection inventory, which is now proposed anew to help recount the history of how scientific instruments became museum collectibles in Florence.

La scelta di Venezia come ambito operativo rientra nella volontà di confrontarsi con il tema del riuso della preesistenza all'interno della città storica. Contemporaneamente ad una permanenza nella città lagunare, la ricerca si è sviluppata sia secondo il fronte teorico che secondo quello progettuale, aventi entrambi per scopo la ricerca di un possibile ambito operativo della storia all'interno del progetto contemporaneo di architettura. Convinti che i problemi dell'oggi siano soltanto riedizioni "moderne" di quelli relativi a secoli precedenti, l'esercizio interpretativo dell'ex unità conventuale di S.Maria della Misericordia a Venezia persegue l'obbiettivo di testare metodi alternativi rispetto agli atteggiamenti estremamente conservativi imperanti nella città storica. La Storia intesa quindi come eterna mutazione, fornisce la base per un metodo basato sulla reinterpretazione della vita all'interno di un luogo come atto progettuale, al fine di generare una nuova unità tra l'uomo contemporaneo ed il contesto stratificato.

La tesi tratta la conservazione, il recupero e la valorizzazione della chiesa di Santa Maria Nuova di Orciano, una eccellenza di epoca rinascimentale toscana nelle Marche. Il portale attribuito al grande Raffaello, la chiesa opera dell’architetto fiorentino Baccio Pontelli e la torre malatestiana completata dal Terzi, senza dimenticare i pregevoli stucchi del Brandani all’interno di essa, fanno di questa opera un gioiello di inestimabile valore. Per questo il lavoro mira alla conservazione di tutte le parti della chiesa, sia esterne che interne, e al recupero e consolidamento della copertura, della torre e della vela campanaria al fine di salvaguardare la vita dell’opera e l’incolumità di chi ne usufruisce. L’attento lavoro di rilievo architettonico, la grande ricerca storica e lo studio metrologico e dimensionale del manufatto sono le basi fondamentali per procedere alla corretta progettazione tecnica che ha come scopo, appunto, la conservazione e la valorizzazione di un monumento storico tanto importante.

Abstract:
Il presente elaborato si propone di offrire un’analisi dell’importanza della mediazione linguistico-culturale in ambito sanitario sia per i pazienti stranieri che per la società. In un contesto sociale sempre più multietnico l’impatto della popolazione straniera sul Servizio Sanitario Nazionale è aumentato in modo esponenziale e le occasioni in cui le barriere linguistico-culturali possono rendere difficoltosa (se non impossibile) la comunicazione clinica si sono moltiplicate. La MLC diviene allora lo strumento che permette agli utenti stranieri di usufruire effettivamente del diritto alla salute e, infatti, questo servizio è legittimato dalle fonti normative sia a livello nazionale che internazionale. Viene quindi presentato dettagliatamente il funzionamento del servizio di MLC negli ospedali e nei servizi sanitari di Reggio Emilia e Provincia e in particolare presso l'Arcispedale Santa Maria Nuova. Viene inoltre analizzato il colloquio tra un medico italiano e una paziente francofona, con attenzione agli aspetti verbali e non verbali della comunicazione. Vengono infine elencate le difficoltà che rendono l’impiego della MLC ancora poco efficace e le soluzioni auspicate.

Le dinamiche di contatto interculturale tra comunità del mondo antico restituiscono interessanti informazioni sia sui processi di assimilazione dei modelli politico-civili tra civiltà spesso differenti sia sulle manifestazioni più private delle civiltà medesime.Nello specifico, il territorio del Veneto orientale risulta essere un osservatorio privilegiato per lo studio dei contatti, delle interazioni e degli scambi tra popoli già dal primo apparire della documentazione epigrafica, in età preromana. Tale vocazione, quella dello scenario di etnie multiple, si configura anche nell’età della romanizzazione, con modalità in gran parte già indagate e definite.Con questa ricerca si è dunque inteso privilegiare le informazioni trasmesse per tramite epigrafico, non trascurando e, anzi, tentando di valorizzare i contesti archeologici originari dove sono stati rinvenuti i documenti in oggetto. Nello specifico, poi, la scelta di analizzare l'evidenza di Montebelluna risponde alla volontà di evidenziare la presenza di un contesto plurilingue o quantomeno del mantenimento della tradizione linguistica epicorica, pertinente alla realtà pre-romana: le interazioni che il latino intratteneva con un altro sistema linguistico, il venetico, la cui influenza emerge nei documenti epigrafici rinvenuti nella necropoli del montebellunese, hanno permesso di formulare nuove ipotesi sulle tempistiche e le modalità del processo che portarono i territori della X Regio a orbitare nel nuovo universo romano.

Abstract:
Una volta effettuate una ricognizione degli studi e la descrizione delle modifiche subite dagli affreschi, dall’architettura, nonché rintracciate le diverse destinazioni d’uso della sala capitolare di Santa Maria Novella nel tempo (cap. I e II), il lavoro, attraverso la ricerca d’archivio e quella iconologica, prosegue con l’individuazione e l’analisi delle funzioni della sala fiorentina nel periodo della seconda metà del Trecento, e con la ricostruzione dell’originario aspetto. Succedono delle osservazioni relative la processione del Corpus Domini, con particolare attenzione al ri-orientamento del percorso liturgico (cap. III); esse permettono di definire la composizione del pubblico degli affreschi e gettano le basi per l’interpretazione delle pitture, attuata principalmente attraverso il confronto con altre opere d’arte, con l’individuazione di nuovi possibili testi mediatori e con la contestualizzazione del convento nella città di Firenze (cap. IV e V). Dall’indagine emerge la funzione della sala capitolare quale laboratorio per l’edificazione del cittadino virtuoso, nonché quale spazio per la propaganda domenicana. Quest’ultima, entro l’ambiente preso in esame, è concentrata sulla celebrazione dell’Ordine come costitutore di Firenze città celeste. La stessa civitas di cui L'Ordine ridisegna gli antichi confini, includendosi, attraverso la processione citata. Così, la sala capitolare insieme ai suoi affreschi si può considerare come dei luoghi della "politica dell’evidenza" fiorentina, di questa i domenicani sembrano aver adottato i meccanismi per legittimare, piuttosto che semplicemente celebrare, la complessa figura di san Tommaso.

Abstract:
The hospital of Santa Maria Nuova was founded in the city center of Florence and it is part of the process of formation of the large hospital institutions of Renaissance urban civilization. These are located in complexes that are the most sensitive parts of the old town today. They are evidence of a long process of transformation and the events that took place over the centuries, which often we do not find any trace even in the historical archives, but they are inserted into the architectural forms and they also act as witness to a city- nature relationship and a refined measure of environmental transformation. For all these reasons, the whole complex is a cultural heritage that has to be studied and preserved. The research being presented is the relief aimed to the understanding of the project design of some parts of the monumental complex of the Hospital of Santa Maria Nuova in Florence. The survey, carried out with an agreement between the Department of Architecture and the Hospital Fiorentina, was an opportunity to investigate about the design of its architecture. The issue has been addressed by using survey techniques used over the years of training and in other research, and have been used techniques belonging to the integrated survey. This research showed that the hospital is a symbol of some original ways of interpreting the architectural design, which exclude the simple stylistic choices of the time. These choices are linked to design rules that have their own identity and give the whole complex a perfection in forms and proportions. These choices confirm the membership of a gothic model tied to the size of the urban and architectural spaces. In architectural structures it is shown a change from tradition: a scene is set in them, whose design has features not explainable with simple geometry, but they have characteristics based on paths, derived from models and not from drawings. The relief, the reading and analysis of spaces and architectural structures, the study of the different processes of expansion through the documentary research, have allowed us to understand the different events of the past, they have indicated the direction we must look introducing something “different” in the historical narrative architecture of Florence.

The following study is based on the observation of a scagliola frontal from the second half of the 17th century in the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament in the church of Santa Maria in Aracoeli in Rome. The decoration, representing saint Francis Solanus playing the violin to the birds as its subject, becomes the occasion for an iconographic and iconological study that investigates the figure of the Franciscan missionary saint and, going backwards, that of saint Francis of Assisi, comparing them with those of Adam and Orpheus.

Abstract:
El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo evaluar la calidad microbiológica del agua de consumo de los habitantes de dos pueblos palafíticos de la Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta: Nueva Venecia y Buena Vista. En este estudio se realizaron 4 muestreos de calidad de agua potable (dos en época seca y dos en época lluviosa) en 38 puntos de muestreos ubicados en tanques de almacenamiento de agua y sistemas de distribución de los pueblos estudiados. Los parámetros de calidad de agua que se determinaron fueron: Coliformes totales y fecales, sólidos disueltos totales, pH y conductividad. Se encontró que los coliformes totales y fecales excedieron los límites permisibles de calidad de agua potable estipulados en la normatividad colombiana, oscilando entre 1 x 104 y 130 x 104 UFC/100 ml, y entre 62 x 104 y 462 x 104 UFC/100 ml, respectivamente; mientras que el pH (varió de 6,7 a 9) y conductividad (el valor máximo fue 700 microsiemens/cm) cumplieron con la normatividad colombiana, y los sólidos disueltos totales no se encuentran regulados (entre 20 y 2198 mg/L). En un Análisis de varianza multivariado se determinó que la época climática tiene un efecto significativo sobre coliformes totales y fecales (Pvalor= 0,0000); y se no se encontró asociación entre sólidos disueltos y coliformes totales (P-valor= 0,7206), en el caso de los coliformes fecales esta relación estadística fue muy leve (P valor =0,048). Finalmente, se concluye que el agua de consumo de los habitantes de estos pueblos presenta un alto grado de contaminación bacteriana indicando un alto riesgo sanitario; por lo que, para mejorar la calidad de vida de la comunidad estudiada se hace necesario el diseño y construcción de instalaciones sanitarias que faciliten la evacuación de excretas, el manejo de residuos sólidos y principalmente la potabilización del agua.

Architectural and structural recovery of “mastio” and its courtyard of the new fortress of VolterraThe recovery of the “mastio” and the surrounding courtyard of the new fortress of Volterra (1472-1474) has as its objective the opening to the public of this fortified work, after 542 years from its construction, with the possibility of being enjoyed without interposing with the prison function of the complex, it also represents the possibility of knowledge and study of a constructive typology in the context of the Renaissance fortified architecture of the Italian school called “transition” with the use of the first artillery. The fortress was born as a military garrison and at the time of Lorenzo the magnificent only a part was used as a prison, it will be definitively transformed into a House of Imprisonment during the Grand Duchy of Lorraine in the middle of the eighteenth century. It is the first work by Francesco di Giovanni di Matteo called the Francione (1428-1495), it has an almost square shape with large cylindrical towers at the corners (rondelle) and at the center of the inner courtyard, a large cylindrical tower like of “mastio” (donjon) and inserted the artillery in the walls. The “mastio” consists of a basement and five floors above ground with a domed roof and connected by a narrow spiral staircase. After the cognitive essays carried out on the internal domes of the “mastio”, placed in the first three floors including the cistern, the presence of “hemispherical domes” emerged, made by workers of the Opera del Duomo in Florence, built entirely in bricks without the carpentry of “centina” (self-supporting), with the system called “alla fiorentina”, as well as the dome of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence by Filippo Brunelleschi. This construction system is also applied in the fortified structures of Pietrasanta, Poggibonsi, Sarzanello, Castrocaro, Pisa and Terra del Sole.

Castello dei Conti di Biandrate: surveys on the surviving structureBiandrate is a northern Italian village in the province of Novara that lies in the Po plain between the Sesia and Ticino rivers. Border area disputed between Vercelli and Novara, since the early Middle Ages it represented an important crossing point because there were the fords of the Sesia river nearby, on the road axis joining Novara and Ivrea. Its importance grew in the tenth century, when the Pieve was erected, today disappeared, dedicated to Santa Maria and, in 1029, the Counts of Pombia family settled in the Biandrate castrum. In 1168 the castrum was destroyed by the armies of Milan, allied with Novara and Vercelli, that in 1194 carved up the territory. In the second half of the thirteenth century the village of Biandrate was divided into the Borgo Vecchio, vercellese, to the west, and the Borgo Nuovo, novarese, to the east. They developed around the canonica of S. Colombano, the hospital and the ruins of the Count’s castrum. The castrum, almost totally destroyed, continued to represent an area with particular rights: in fact the Statues established that the Podestà could pronounce sentences only “in castro veteri Blanderati”. Nowadays the collegiata of S. Colombano stands on the Biandrate castrum ruins; the collegiata was mentioned for the first time in 1146, but was altered various times over the centuries. In particular, portions of the ancient wall are visible in the lower part of the west wall of the church of Santa Caterina, incorporated within the complex of the collegiate of S. Colombano. It is noticed that the ancient castrum had very thick walls made primarily with river pebbles, roughly cut stones in a herringbone pattern and binding mortar.

Conference topics and scale: City transformations The crisis of the traditional city, with its morphological characteristics, has been largely debated. The new urban phenomenon has almost always been described as antithetical; by contrary this article interrogates the possibility of reading a continuity between the traditional and the contemporary city. The article brings forth the concept that the territory can be described as an urban phenomenon result of a change of scale of the city, and offers the definition of the contemporary city as Territorial City (Città-Territorio). The article recovers this term introduced in the 70’s by the Italian morphological school, to emphasize the continuity with the European traditional morphological schools, taking advantage of its learnings, to compare the traditional city, with the contemporary city. The relevance of a morphological approach in the study of the contemporary Territorial City is discussed through an excursus of the main European schools’ contributions, with a particular schematization due to geographical areas. From the synthesis of these references emerges a basis for the definition of a Taxonomy organised around tree main elements that constitute the urban grid. Moreover, the article proposes a methodology for the analysis of the Territorial City that use the Taxonomy as reading tool; this method, illustrated through his experimentation on the Metropolitan Region of Barcelona, is of particular relevance towards the interpretation of the dynamics that have characterised the morphology of the current urban phenomenon, describing its aggregation logics and decomposing the historical-procedural continuum. Abstract:
Florianópolis possuí 15 centros universitários, cerca de 600 empresas de tecnologia e é considerada o quarto destino internacional de eventos no Brasil (ICCA). O interesse em inovação na cidade durante o mês de outubro é observável pelo elevado número de eventos que acontecem, podendo ser agrupados em três dimensões: tecnologia, ambiental e social. Embora sejam dimensões diferentes, todas procuram a reflexão, o aprendizado e o planejamento organizado ligado à inovação. Entretanto, esses eventos são organizados e comunicados individualmente, criando situações de concorrência direta entre eles. Em alguns casos, essa concorrência gera problemas na sustentabilidade financeira, por falta de participantes, ou apenas repetição dos participantes, por falta de visibilidade. Essa situação enfraquece a experiência do visitante e gera uma visão da cidade bem menos diversa em alternativas de conhecimento. Florianópolis possuí potencial de cidade criativa, a qual promove a revitalização cultural, a atração de indivíduos criativos, o estímulo da participação social e apoio financeiro às indústrias culturais e áreas afins. Esse conceito está baseado na economia criativa, que se assenta sobre a relação entre a criatividade, o simbólico e a economia (HOWKINS, 2002). O desenvolvimento das atividades de lazer e de uma imagem local, assim como salientar as características culturais e experienciais do lugar, resulta em especial interesse na gestão estratégica comunicacional da cidade. O objetivo desse artigo é o levantamento das características e atributos para a criação de um nome e valores de marca que considere todos os agentes envolvidos nos eventos de inovação em Florianópolis. A perspectiva da pesquisa foi baseada na teoria fundamentada com uma abordagem sistêmica, e na sua classificação: aplicada por sua natureza, qualitativa pela forma de abordagem, exploratória por seus objetivos e um estudo de casos pelos procedimentos técnicos. Os objetos pesquisados foram os websites e as redes sociais dos eventos do estudo. Os métodos de análise foram: análises webométricas, para medir o fator de impacto não world wide web dos websites de estudo; análise textual do conteúdo por meio de nuvens de palavras e um análise de redes (ARS) dos sites de redes sociais dos websites de estudo. O tipo de amostra do foi intencional: por intensidade e conveniência (FRAGOSO, RECUERO, AMARAL, 2011).
