Abstract:
Abstract The concept of holiness has played a significant role in Pentecostal identity. Worship has also been a defining feature of Pentecostalism, and for British Pentecostals, the ultimate locus of worship was historically around the Lord’s Table at the weekly Breaking of Bread service. Here at the Table holiness and worship met in the presence of the Lord, and in that meeting of the two the Gifts of the Spirit flowed, healing was found at the Table, and the Spirit-filled gathered congregation were sent back out into the world, renewed and refreshed as witnesses of the living Lord. While the Breaking of Bread could involve either intense joy or tears of repentance, it constantly bore witness to the seriousness with which Pentecostals took the holiness of God and His sanctification of His people. This article draws on historic British Pentecostal Eucharistic worship in working towards a Pentecostal theological account of holiness.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Soon after his election as Pope in 1585, Sixtus V initiated the demolition of the ruinous Patriarchium Lateranense in order to build in its place the present Lateran Palace. Although much of the old palace was destroyed, the Chapel of St. Laurence, known as the Sancta Sanctorum, was preserved intact, and the Holy Stairs (the Scala Santa) were moved to a new location before it. It is argued in this study, using both published and unpublished documents and the visual evidence of frescoes depicting the Scala Santa in the Vatican Library, that the original project called for a simpler plan than that finally built, comprising only the Sancta Sanctorum, the Holy Stairs, and the two original lateral stairways from the Patriarchium Lateranense. In late 1587, it would appear, in order to accommodate Sixtus V's decision to upgrade the status of the sanctuary, this plan was enlarged to include two large rooms with chapels either side of the Sancta Sanctorum, and two additional lateral stairways. A chronology for the project is established and the dates for the decoration of the structure clarified.

2021-ben Magyarországon belpolitikai polémiához vezetett a kínai Fudan Egyetem tervezett magyarországi campusának ügye. Ennek kapcsán ez a kitekintés a következő kérdésekre keresi a választ: 2021-ben a világ különféle egyetemi rangsorait mely egyetemek vezetik?; Az egyes rangsorokat milyen szempontok alapján állítják össze?

Abstract:
The growth response and biological activity of the cyanobacterium Oscillatoria sancta were investigated in starvation conditions. Oscillatoria sancta growth potential was examined on BG11 and Zarrouk’s media. Zarrouk’s medium supported the maximum growth of the test cyanobacterium. Zarrouk’s medium composition was modified by excluding CaCl2·2H2O, NaCl, EDTA (Na), micronutrients, and replacing sodium nitrate with urea. Using Zarrouk’s medium and three different concentrations of modified Zarrouk’s media (Treatments 1–3), the growth response of Oscillatoria sancta (MZ366482) was examined and compared. Zarrouk’s medium and modified Zarrouk’s medium at 12.5% nutrient concentration had non-significant differences in both the dry weight biomass and total protein of Oscillatoria sancta. Oscillatoria sancta crude biomass extracts grown on Zarrouk’s and modified Zarrouk’s media (T3) inhibited human breast cancer, pathogenic bacteria, and acetylcholinesterase activity. Oscillatoria sancta grown on T3 showed the most potency against MDA-MB-231 cells with an IC50 of 165.2 µg mL−1, antibacterial activity only against Bacillus cereus (17.2 mm) and Staphylococcus aureus (15.3 mm), and acetylcholinesterase inhibition activity by 60.7%. Thus, it is advisable to use the 12.5% nutrient concentration of modified Zarrouk’s medium as a reduced-cost medium for mass cultivation of Oscillatoria sancta with potential anticancer, antibacterial diseases, and anti-Alzheimer purposes.

Abstract:
The antibacterial and antioxidant activities of Lavandula stoechas and Crepis sancta extracts on subclinical mastitis bacteria in cows have not been reported to the present day. The aim of this work was to investigate of the antibacterial and antioxidant potential of methanol extract from L. stoechas and C. sancta. Methanol extracts were screened for antibacterial activity against mastitis pathogens. The antibacterial activity was tested using disc diffusion and broth dilution method. In addition, the plant extracts were tested against the stable DPPH (1,1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) free-radical. Additionally methanol extracts were screened for enzymatic antioxidant activity. The methanol extract of C. sancta showed maximum inhibition zone against S. aureus-18 (16 mm). MIC (minimum inhibition concentration) value was determined as 3250 µg/mL for test bacteria. The highest radical scavenging capacity (62 %) was obtained from the flower extracts of L. stoechas and the leaf extracts of C. sancta. The methanol extract of C. sancta displayed a strong antioxidant activity (trolox equivalent = 1.6 mM/g). It was determined that the activities of catalase (CAT) and ascorbate peroxidase (AP) enzymes were higher at the flowers of L. stoechas compared to the leaves. The extracts of L. stoechas and C. sancta leaf and flower have antibacterial and antioxidant potential against subclinic mastitis causative agent Staphylococci species.

Abstract:
This article is an attempt to learn from the struggle for identity in early Christianity. Since its birth from the womb of Judaism, Christianity was challenged to redefine its identity, rooted as it was in Judaism vis-à-vis the influence of Hellenization. Such a journey into unknown territory (terra incognita) unavoidably led to the birth of new identity which, on the one hand, remained an integral part of its original matrix, but at once challenged its exclusive character. In this overview, two main examples of reinterpretation are presented to illustrate the case, first, by Paul who radically reinterprets Torah and the identity of God's people in Christ, and second, by the author of 1 Peter who reinterprets the identity of "Christianos" as "aliens" and "exiles" in their Graeco-Roman milieu. As can be learned from these examples, negotiation, and renegotiation are an inevitable necessity when Christianity penetrates new territories in its encounter with the "other", in order to root itself in new terra incognita.

Abstract:
Although the Sancta Sanctorum preserved some of the most venerated relics in Rome and a miraculous image of Christ, until the early twentieth century strict rules limiting access to the space made a formal examination of these objects nearly impossible. The series of investigations and resulting publications of the Sancta Sanctorum and its treasure of reliquaries, relics, and icon that took place between 1903 and 1908 therefore demonstrate an important turning point in the Church's attitude toward the medieval chapel's sanctified space. The papal permission given to scholars such as Florian Jubaru, Hartmann Grisar, Philippe Lauer, and Josef Wilpert allowed, for the first time, a scientific examination and cataloging of the chapel's objects. The permission, however, also instigated an environment of intense academic competition, as noted especially in the publications of Grisar and Lauer. This article discusses the explorations of the Sancta Sanctorum's holy objects in the context of the highly charged political environment of early twentieth-century Rome. The article suggests that concerns over artistic patrimony, the financial stability of the Vatican, the relationship between the papacy and the Italian state, and shifting trends in scholarship played roles in the decision to open the “Holy of Holies” and reveal the contents of the treasure of the Sancta Sanctorum.

Abstract:
The article examines Augustine’s work De sancta uirginitate from an ecclesiological point of view, leaving behind the old gender reading of the work. It makes also some commentaries about the discussion on uirginitas in the early Fifth Century and in Augustine’s works.

Abstract:
Michael Morrow was an acute reader of medieval literature, and one who knew that every medieval text is a potential source of information for the modern performer and musicologist. A striking example is provided by the 453 chapters of a fifteenth-century anthology now in the library of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. This imposing book appears to be one of the largest collections of Marian miracle-stories in the world. Assembled in the year 1409, perhaps in East Anglia, it contains forty-nine chapters about Marian devotions, liturgies, plainsongs and prayers, among them several texts that were set by English composers: Salve regina (there are ten chapters devoted to this chant alone), Alma redemptoris mater, Gaude flore virginali, Sancta Maria non est tibi similis, Salve sancta parens, Gaude Maria virgo, Ave maris Stella and Gaude virgo mater Christi.
