Abstract:
Technology has an important role in the implementation of human activities at this time, including in business activities. Today's technology is widely used to manage business activities with various forms of display/templates that are easy to use. Dashboards are used to display data concisely. Reports can be viewed quickly through a summary of the data displayed on the dashboard. So much data processing makes business activities that still carry out manual recording and see the report data sequence is felt to be less effective. Utilization of technology is highly needed by owners of small businesses when facing business management constraints such as a long time to manage data, loss of sales data, purchases and reports recapitulation errors. Besides, the need for fast and accurate data and information access is also needed to support and monitor business management. Based on these problems, a solution is needed to manage the overall sales and purchasing data, and display reports quickly and accurately by carrying out a study entitled "Dashboard Management of Sales and Purchases of Fish in Fish Spots".

Abstract:
This paper analyzes the relationships between the productivity of stocks and the return on assets of milk processing companies. Productivity of stocks was measured as the Days Sales of Inventory (DSI) for materials, intermediate products, work-in-progress, finished products and commodities, and as the DSI for total stocks. The study was based on corporate micro-data from 2007–2016 retrieved from the EMIS database. Based on panel regression models, it was concluded that an improvement in stock management efficiency, measured with the Days Sales of Inventory, is positively correlated to the return on assets of milk processing companies. Although it was considerably shorter in the milk sector than in the entire food industry throughout the study period, it grew longer each year. This evolution means a deterioration in the efficiency of stock management of finished products which, in the long run, may adversely affect the financial performance of milk producers. The parameters of the estimated regression models clearly confirm it is reasonable to reduce DSIs.

Full text
Abstract:
Customer knowledge plays a vital part in organisations today, particularly in sales and marketing processes, where customers can either be channel partners or final consumers. Managing customer data and/or information across business units, departments, and functions is vital. Frequently, channel partners gather and capture data about downstream customers and consumers that organisations further upstream in the channel require to be incorporated into their information systems in order to allow for management information delivery to their users. In this study, the focus is placed on manufacturing organisations using third party distribution since the flow of information between channel partner organisations in a supply chain (in contrast to the flow of products) provides an important link between organisations and increasingly represents a source of competitive advantage in the marketplace. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a significant difference in the use of sales and marketing data marts as management information delivery mechanisms in manufacturing organisations in different industries, particularly the pharmaceuticals and branded consumer products. The case studies presented in this dissertation indicates that there are significant differences between the use of sales and marketing data marts in different manufacturing industries, which can be ascribed to the industry, both directly and indirectly.

Full text
Abstract:
Intrusive monitoring systems monitor the performance of data communication networks by transmitting and receiving test packets on the network being monitored. Even relatively small periods of monitoring can generate significantly large amounts of data. Primitive network performance data are details of test packets that are transmitted and received over the network under test. Network performance information is then derived by significantly processing the primitive performance data. This information may need to be correlated with information regarding the configuration and status of various network elements and the test stations. This thesis suggests that efficient processing of the collected data may be achieved by reusing and recycling the derived information in the data warehouses and information systems. This can be accomplished by pre-processing the primitive performance data to generate Intermediate Information. In addition to being able to efficiently fulfil multiple information requirements, different Intermediate Information elements at finer levels of granularity may be recycled to generate Intermediate Information elements at coarser levels of granularity. The application of these concepts in processing packet delay information from the primitive performance data has been studied. Different Intermediate Information structures possess different characteristics. Information systems can exploit these characteristics to efficiently re-cycle elements of these structures to derive the required information elements. Information systems can also dynamically select appropriate Intermediate Information structures on the basis of queries posted to the information system as well as the number of suitable Intermediate Information elements available to efficiently answer these queries. Packet loss and duplication summaries derived for different analysis windows also provide information regarding the network performance characteristics. Due to their additive nature, suitable finer granularity packet loss and duplication summaries can be added to provide coarser granularity packet loss and duplication summaries.

Agarwalla, Bikash Kumar. "Resource management for data streaming applications." Diss., Georgia Institute of Technology, 2010. http://hdl.handle.net/1853/34836.

Full text
Abstract:
This dissertation investigates novel middleware mechanisms for building streaming applications. Developing streaming applications is a challenging task because (i) they are continuous in nature; (ii) they require fusion of data coming from multiple sources to derive higher level information; (iii) they require efficient transport of data from/to distributed sources and sinks; (iv) they need access to heterogeneous resources spanning sensor networks and high performance computing; and (v) they are time critical in nature. My thesis is that an intuitive programming abstraction will make it easier to build dynamic, distributed, and ubiquitous data streaming applications. Moreover, such an abstraction will enable an efficient allocation of shared and heterogeneous computational resources thereby making it easier for domain experts to build these applications. In support of the thesis, I present a novel programming abstraction, called DFuse, that makes it easier to develop these applications. A domain expert only needs to specify the input and output connections to fusion channels, and the fusion functions. The subsystems developed in this dissertation take care of instantiating the application, allocating resources for the application (via the scheduling heuristic developed in this dissertation) and dynamically managing the resources (via the dynamic scheduling algorithm presented in this dissertation). Through extensive performance evaluation, I demonstrate that the resources are allocated efficiently to optimize the throughput and latency constraints of an application.

Abstract:
AbstractThis paper mainly studies the discount data of department store members. The researsh shows that the total supply of discounted goods and the number of reward points issued have the most significant relationship with customer activation rate, the increase of discount rate and coverage scale would increase the activation rate of inactive members and invalid members. The increase of the score rate may have a stronger incentive effect on active members, but it has no obvious incentive effect on inactive and ineffective members. In addition, by integrating the commodity records of each purchase, and analyzing association rules, commodity combinations with associated consumption relationships are obtained, and the analysis model of commodity portfolio association rules is established. This paper is mainly based on the data of the member information, the sale water meter, the member consumption detailed list, the merchandise information table, through the data processing and analysis, rejects the abnormal data, prepares for the following processing. By analyzing the characteristics of member consumption and the difference between member and non-member consumption, we can provide marketing suggestions for the store manager FP-growth Algorithm is designed to evaluate the purchasing power of members based on their gender, length of membership, age and consumption frequency, and each parameter of the model is explained, so as to improve the management level of the shopping mall. On this basis, Suggestions for promotional activities in shopping malls are given.

Abstract:
Bengkel Vie Jaya Motor is a business unit engaged in the sale of motorcycle spare parts and provides motorcycle service. The Vie Jaya Motor workshop in handling sales still uses a manual system, namely recording every transaction that occurs in the workshop still using a daily sales report book without detailed information, so that making reports takes a long time. With the problems that exist in the Vie Jaya Motor workshop, the purpose of this research is to create an accounting information system for motorcycle spare parts cash sales which can later provide an overview of the workshop in the data processing process. For the method of collecting data through interviews and conducting library research by searching for information through other sources such as books and the internet related to the problem to be discussed with the aim of making it easier to solve the problem. The analysis and system design stages are described using flowcharts, flowmaps, context diagrams, DFD, and ERD. After this, the next stage is the design of the software system. The design of the software system uses PHP (Hypertext Pre Processor) as a programming language and MySQL as database management. The result of the cash sales accounting information system that has been made by the researcher is to make records and calculations in carrying out cash sales transactions for motorcycle spare parts with the cash basis method. This method was chosen because revenue recognition is recorded when a transaction has occurred where the money is actually received or issued. The accounting information system created can also streamline the time of business activities in making sales journals and reports.

Abstract:
The terms "entrepreneurship "and "entrepreneur" have become increasingly used around the world because entrepreneurship tends to be associated with the economic development and well-being of a nation. When we refer to entrepreneurship education, we must consider not only formal education, which is very important in fact business administration, marketing, sales, human resources, communication and PR, finance but also getting in touch with entrepreneurial models. Therefore, entrepreneurship education is different from traditional academic education and involves the soading of unique aspirations and attitudes to entrepreneurs, which can only develop through contact with entrepreneurial success stories and through contact with entrepreneurs who have succeeded. But just as importantly, young people need to understand not only a romanticised interpretation of entrepreneurship, but also the negative aspects of starting a business. Comparing with entrepreneurs from other countries we are among the last to see the potential of success stories in entrepreneurship education and we are the first by the perceived importance of formal tertiary education. This last type of education could best be supported by government measures, because the universities in Romania are predominantly "state-owned". The general objective of the present research is represented by identifying the profile of young people from the North-East area who intend to open a business in the near / distant future in order to be able to get an overview of the interest that young people show in the business environment. Within quantitative methods of data processing, the basic is the sociological survey, and the main tool for collecting data is the questionnaire. All study tools are administered and applied online, and the collection and centralization of data is done automatically and securely.

Abstract:
Computer-based information management systems have allowed many companies and facilities to greatly improve their data storage and processing capabilities over traditional paper and file methods. The Internet and its associated web-based technologies have further contributed to information processing capabilities. The Federal Transit Administration’s Bus Testing Program, operated by the Pennsylvania Transportation Institute at the Pennsylvania State University requires an upgrade to such a system. Currently, all bus test data is entered directly into a hardcopy report, and data analysis must be performed manually. The objective in this research is to develop an information management system for the bus test data to facilitate access to the data, enable search queries, and perform statistical analyses to examine current trends or predict performance characteristics of future buses. A database has been created in Microsoft Access and linked to a user-friendly graphical user interface developed in Visual Basic for fast and nearly error-free data entry. A web-based infrastructure comprised of HTML, XML, ASP, and customized COM objects is used to display, search, and analyze the bus test data. The resulting information system saves time and money for PTI while enabling easy access to bus test reports.

Abstract:
Created in 1978, the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County (Authority) has developed an “award winning” solid waste management system that includes the following facilities to service the residents and businesses in Palm Beach County, Florida: • North County Resource Recovery Facility (NCRRF); • Residential and Commercial Recovered Materials Processing Facility; • Six Transfer Stations; • Class I Landfill; • Class III Landfill; • Biosolids Processing Facility; • Ferrous Processing Facility; • Woody Waste Recycling Facility; • Composting Facility; and • Two Household Hazardous Waste Facilities. The Authority has proactively planned and implemented an integrated program to provide for the long term, reliable, economically sound and environmentally sustainable management of solid waste in Palm Beach County. The County’s anticipated growth necessitated that the Authority evaluate several options for long-term processing and disposal capacity. This resulted in a decision to expand its WTE capacity with a new mass burn facility, the first facility of its kind to be constructed in the US in almost two decades, reaffirming its commitment to waste-to-energy. The planned 3,000 TPD facility will provide the Authority with a total disposal capacity of 5,000 TPD generating approximately 150MW of renewable energy. The decision to proceed with the expansion was approved by the Authority’s Board in October 2008. The Authority, with its Consulting Engineer, Malcolm Pirnie/ARCADIS, has since made significant progress in the implementation of this landmark project including the completion of the preliminary design, securing environmental permits, procuring a full service vendor, issuance of nearly $600 million revenue bonds for signing an electrical sales contract, and ongoing extensive public outreach efforts. This presentation will focus on the ongoing development of the new mass burn facility and an update of the status of activities conducted to date such as: • Environmental Permitting – Issuance of the PPSA Conditions of Certification and submittal of the Post Certification/Pre Construction requirements; • Vendor Procurement – Iterative procurement process designed to obtain vendor input through final selection and contract award of a full service vendor (Design, Build and Operate); • Preliminary Design – Innovative design features such as the utilization of SCR technology for control of NOx emission and incorporation of rainwater harvesting and water reuse; • Public Outreach – the Authority’s efforts to keep the public informed through mass mailings, community meetings, television commercials and educational materials for all audiences; and • Financing – Approach designed to preserve alternative minimum tax benefits.

Avis, William. Drivers, Barriers and Opportunities of E-waste Management in Africa. Institute of Development Studies (IDS), December 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.19088/k4d.2022.016.

Abstract:
Population growth, increasing prosperity and changing consumer habits globally are increasing demand for consumer electronics. Further to this, rapid changes in technology, falling prices and consumer appetite for better products have exacerbated e-waste management challenges and seen millions of tons of electronic devices become obsolete. This rapid literature review collates evidence from academic, policy focussed and grey literature on e-waste management in Africa. This report provides an overview of constitutes e-waste, the environmental and health impacts of e-waste, of the barriers to effective e-waste management, the opportunities associated with effective e-waste management and of the limited literature available that estimate future volumes of e-waste. Africa generated a total of 2.9 million Mt of e-waste, or 2.5 kg per capita, the lowest regional rate in the world. Africa’s e-waste is the product of Local and imported Sources of Used Electronic and Electrical Equipment (UEEE). Challenges in e-waste management in Africa are exacerbated by a lack of awareness, environmental legislation and limited financial resources. Proper disposal of e-waste requires training and investment in recycling and management technology as improper processing can have severe environmental and health effects. In Africa, thirteen countries have been identified as having a national e-waste legislation/policy.. The main barriers to effective e-waste management include: Insufficient legislative frameworks and government agencies’ lack of capacity to enforce regulations, Infrastructure, Operating standards and transparency, illegal imports, Security, Data gaps, Trust, Informality and Costs. Aspirations associated with energy transition and net zero are laudable, products associated with these goals can become major contributors to the e-waste challenge. The necessary wind turbines, solar panels, electric car batteries, and other "green" technologies require vast amounts of resources. Further to this, at the end of their lifetime, they can pose environmental hazards. An example of e-waste associated with energy transitions can be gleaned from the solar power sector. Different types of solar power cells need to undergo different treatments (mechanical, thermal, chemical) depending on type to recover the valuable metals contained. Similar issues apply to waste associated with other energy transition technologies. Although e-waste contains toxic and hazardous metals such as barium and mercury among others, it also contains non-ferrous metals such as copper, aluminium and precious metals such as gold and copper, which if recycled could have a value exceeding 55 billion euros. There thus exists an opportunity to convert existing e-waste challenges into an economic opportunity.

Apiyo, Eric, Zita Ekeocha, Stephen Robert Byrn, and Kari L. Clase. Improving Pharmacovigilliance Quality Management System in the Pharmacy and Poisions Board of Kenya. Purdue University, December 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.5703/1288284317444.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to explore ways of improving the pharmacovigilance quality system employed by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya. The Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya employs a hybrid system of pharmacovigilance that utilizes an online system of reporting pharmacovigilance incidences and a physical system, where a yellow book is physically filled by the healthcare worker and sent to the Pharmacy and Poisons Board for onward processing. This system, even though it has been relatively effective compared to other systems employed in Africa, has one major flaw. It is a slow and delayed system that captures the data much later after the fact and the agency will always be behind the curve in controlling the adverse incidents and events. This means that the incidences might continue to arise or go out of control. This project attempts to develop a system that would be more proactive in the collection of pharmacovigilance data and more predictive of pharmacovigilance incidences. The pharmacovigilance system should have the capacity to detect and analyze subtle changes in reporting frequencies and in patterns of clinical symptoms and signs that are reported as suspected adverse drug reactions. The method involved carrying out a thorough literature review of the latest trends in pharmacovigilance employed by different regulatory agencies across the world, especially the more stringent regulatory authorities. A review of the system employed by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya was also done. Pharmacovigilance data, both primary and secondary, were collected and reviewed. Media reports on adverse drug reactions and poor-quality medicines over the period were also collected and reviewed. An appropriate predictive pharmacovigilance tool was also researched and identified. It was found that the Pharmacy and Poisons Board had a robust system of collecting historical pharmacovigilance data both from the healthcare workers and the general public. However, a more responsive data collection and evaluation system is proposed that will help the agency achieve its pharmacovigilance objectives. On analysis of the data it was found that just above half of all the product complaints, about 55%, involved poor quality medicines; 15% poor performance, 13% presentation, 8% adverse drug reactions, 7% market authorization, 2% expired drugs and 1% adulteration complaints. A regulatory pharmacovigilance prioritization tool was identified, employing a risk impact analysis was proposed for regulatory action.
