Abstract:
India is the world’s largest producer, consumer and exporter of chillies in the world. The important states of chilli production are Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. In Salem district, area under chilli cultivation is around 1100 ha in the year 2019-20. Among 20 blocks of Salem district, Kolathur block is well known for chilli cultivation in Salem District. Most of the farmers rely upon only the private chilli hybrids, for which they have to spend much more towards seed cost. In this regard, an investigation is required for assessing the performance of high pungent chilli hybrids in Salem district. Hence, an investigation was carried out to assess the performance of high pungent chilli hybrids in Salem district in the year 2021. An on farm trial was conducted in five different locations of Salem district during Kharif season with chilli hybrids Arka Saanvi and TNAU Chilli Hybrid CO 1 with Sierra Hybrid of Private Company namely Mahyco as check hybrid. Results revealed that TNAU Chilli hybrid CO1 recorded highest marketable fruit yield per hectare (24t/ha) followed by Arka Saanvi (21t/ha) which might be due to the more number of marketable fruits per plant in TNAU Chilli hybrid CO1. Farmers preference as well as market preference in Salem District for TNAU Chilli Hybrid CO 1 is more than Arka Saanvi because of its bigger size fruits with more number of fruits with high pungency. With regard to benefit cost ratio, Arka Saanvi and Sierra recorded 2.50 and 1.79 respectively as against 2.71 in TNAU Chilli hybrid CO 1.

Abstract:
Chilli is an important spice which is grown throughout India. Chillies are integral and the most important ingredient in many different cuisines around the world as it adds pungency, taste, flavour and color to the dishes. Chilli is grown in Kolathur block of Salem district in an area of nearly 879 ha. The farmers are mainly growing the local varieties and private hybrids in kolathur block. During the farmers and scientist conference conducted at KVK, Sandhiyur (2013), the growers opted for new varieties (high yield, lengthy fruit, good pungency, and colour retention during storage). An onfarm trial was conducted in pannavadi village of kolathur block. In this study three varieties (Lalima, LCA 625 and Kovilpatti 2) were assessed for yield, pest disease tolerance and quality parameters. LCA 625 gave an average yield of 6.2-6.8 t / ha, fruit length of 9-11 cm, good pungency and good colour retention during storage compared to other two varieties. The colour of dry chilli during storage was orange compared to Lalima with bright attractive red colour. Hence in the market Lalima fetched more price than the other two varieties. Hence, it is suggested for the Researchers that LCA 625 may be refined for marketable colour.

Abstract:
Groundwater is one of the world's most valuable resources, which contributes 85% of drinking water supplies. It is imperative to explore ground-water zone for the utilization to the people. Edappadi block in Salem District, Tamil Nadu, is rocky terrain largely depends on groundwater for drinking and irrigation. One of the most useful tools for locating ground water potential zones is remote sensing and geographic information system (GIS). Different types of thematic maps, such as lithology, geomorphology, drainage density, slope, lineament, and land use/land cover, can be easily created by visual interpretation of IRS-1C, LISS-III data and maps are prepared using GIS. The water potential zones are determined using a rank and weightage approach. In order to demarcate the water potential zones, the vector overlay method is used. Lithology is given more weight than geomorphology, followed by lineament density, lineament frequency, lineament intersection, slope and land use/land cover. Based on the overall results, the potential zone of groundwater in the research region is divided into five groups: Excellent, Very Good, Good, Moderate, and Poor.

Abstract:
Using fentanyl as an adjuvant in spinal anesthesia has well been documented. Fentanyl being an opioid additive prolongs the duration of neuroaxial blockade without significantly increasing the time to ambulation. Aim: To assess the effect of fentanyl as an adjuvant used with 2-chloroprocaine on sensory and motor onset and offset block time, time for ambulation and complication rate. Methodology: A randomized comparative study was conducted for a period of 6 months in the department of anesthesiology at Kirupananda Variyar medical college and hospital, Salem. A total of 100 patients (50 in each group) posted for elective surgeries in the age group between 20 and 60 were enrolled as our study subjects. Group A patients received intrathecal injection of 3 mL of 1% 2-Chloroprocaine (30 mg) mixed with 0.5 mL of Normal saline and Group B patients received 3 mL of 1% 2-Chloroprocaine (30 mg) mixed with 0.5 mL of Fentanyl solution containing 50 micrograms per mL (25 mcg). Bilateral sensory and motor block onset and regression time was monitored. Results: Time for regression of sensory block, recovery of motor block and time to void urine was comparatively more among group B (2-chloroprocaine with fentanyl) than group A (2-chloroprocaine) and the difference was found to be statistically significant (p < .05). The length of stay in post-anesthesia ICU and the patient satisfaction score did not show a statistical significant difference between the two groups. Similarly no change was noted in hemodynamic parameters and in the incidence of adverse events. Conclusion: We conclude that the addition of fentayl to 2 chloroprocaine has a significant synergistic effect in prolonging postoperative analgesia without prolonging the time for ambulation.

Abstract:
In order to study the impact of gamma irradiation in Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.), experiments were carried out during the year 2000-2003 in the Department of Spices and Plantation Crops, Horticultural College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. The experiment was laid out in Factorial Randomized Block Design with two replications using three genotypes namely Salem local - G1 (CL144), Alleppy finger turmeric - G2 (CL146) and PTS 43 - G3 (CL147). The treatments consisted of seven doses of gamma rays (1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 kR) along with a control. The study revealed that lower doses of gamma rays were favourable for the yield contributing characters. The correlation study established that the weight of mother rhizomes, number, length and girth of primary rhizomes and number of secondary rhizomes expressed positive correlation with yield per plant in vMo generation. Similarly, the number, weight, length and girth of primary rhizomes, number, weight and length of secondary rhizomes and curing per cent were positively correlated with yield per plant in vM1 generation.

Abstract:
In this work, we introduce a method of estimating stochastic freeway capacity using elements of both extreme value theory and survival analysis. First, we define capacity data, or estimates of the capacity of the roadway, as the daily maximum flow values. Then, under a survival analysis premise, we introduce censoring into our definition. That is, on days when flows are sufficiently high and congestion occurs, corresponding flow maxima are considered true estimates of capacity; otherwise, for those days that do not observe high flows or congestion, flow maxima are deemed censored observations and capacities must be higher than the observations. By extreme value theory, the collection of flow maxima (block maxima) can be appropriately approximated with a generalized extreme value (GEV) distribution. Because of small sample sizes and the presence of censoring, a Bayesian framework is pursued for model fitting and parameter estimation. To lend credence to our proposed methodology, the procedure is applied to real-world traffic stream data collected by the New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) at a busy location on Interstate I-93 near Salem, New Hampshire. Data were collected over a period of 11 months and raw data were aggregated into 15-minute intervals. To assess our procedure, and to provide proof of concept, several validation procedures are presented. First, using distinct training and validation subsets of our data, the procedure yields accurate predictions of highway capacity. Next, our procedure is applied to a training set to yield random capacities which are then used to predict breakdown in the validation set. The frequency of these predicted breakdowns is found to be statistically similar to observed breakdowns observed in our validation set. Lastly, after comparing our methodology to other methods of stochastic capacity estimation, we find our procedure to be highly successful.

Abstract:
About 4 billion citizens around the world lack access to proper sanitation, meaning they are forced to practice open defecation. The health consequences for those living without using toilets are severe. Approximately 480,000 children under5 year age die annually from diarrhoea caused by unsafe water and a lack of access to proper sanitation. That’s almost 2,000 kids a day. In developing countries like India, 57 per cent of households do not have a toilet. And in Tamil Nadu mainly, it was at 52 per cent. In India, civil societies and local government play a vital role in rural development, and they are responsible for transforming the socio-economic features of the villages in India. The central and state governments are implementing many schemes like the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC), and so on to protect child and women’s health. Both governments to give reward for full achievement of gram panchayats like Nirmal Gram Puraskar (NGP) and reward up to Rs. 10 lakhs. Tamil Nadu provides an award with for Clean Village Campaign (CVC), and the reward is Rs. 5 lakhs at the state government level, The present study focuses on the availability and utilisation of sanitation facilities in Manjakuttai gram panchayat (GP). This GP awarded NGP in 2008. So the present paper contains the importance and need of the study, literature review, objectives of the study, methodology, general observation, rural sanitation etc.; An attempt is made, to study the sanitation facilities in general and particular to study the Manjakuttai GP of Yercaud block in Salem district, Tamil Nadu.

Abstract:
Abstract Spray trials were conducted in Kent and New Castle Counties, DE, and Salem and Cumberland Counties, NJ. Treatments consisted of oil-based isolates of Bacillus thuringiensis formulated as Condor OF and Dipel 8 L diluted with water, Condor OF applied undiluted and an untreated control. Treatments were replicated five times in a randomized complete block. Woodlots were 10-84 acreas in size and consisted of isolated stands. Fifteen 0.025-acre fixed radius plots were established within each woodlot where treatment effects were measured. A Grumman Ag-Cat 600 aircraft equipped with eight AU-5000 Micronair rotary atomizers on a standard spray boom was used to apply the treatments. All B. thuringiensis formulations were applied at 20 billion international units (BIU)/acre (40 oz formulation/acre). For the diluted applications, Condor and Dipel were applied at a volumetric rate of 128 oz/acre including 2% (v/v) Bond (Loveland Industries, Inc.) as a sticker. The aircraft was operated at an airspeed of 90 mph on a 75 ft swath width, about 50 ft above the forest canopy. The pump pressure was 40 psi and the variable restrictor unit on the nozzles was set at 9 and 5 for the diluted and undiluted applications, respectively. The blade angle on the nozzles nearest the fuselage was set at 65 and 35°, and 70 and 35° for the other six nozzles on the boom, for the diluted and undiluted applications, respectively. Woodlots were treated on 22 and 27 May in Delaware and New Jersey, respectively, when GM was predominately 3rd instar. Pre- (Spring) and postspray (Fall) egg mass counts were made within each of the 15 subplots. GM larvae were counted under burlap bands placed on one dominant preferred tree 25 ft outside each 0.025- acre plot. Estimates of feeding damage were based on examination of each burlapped tree and were rated in one of seven classes: 1, 0%; 2, 1-5%; 3, 6-10%; 4, 11-25%; 5, 26-50%; 6, 51-75%; and 7, >75.

Abstract:
Pricing decisions and online channel selection strategies are playing an increasingly important role in e-commerce. In this paper, we consider two different types of dual-channel supply chain sales models, namely, an online direct + online distribution sales model consisting of an online direct sales channel and online distribution sales channel and an online direct + delegation sales model consisting of an online direct sales channel and an online delegation sales channel. By introducing the customer sensitive coefficient and block chain technology into these dual-channel supply chain sales models, we analyzed pricing decisions and online channel selection strategies in dual-channel supply chains in terms of the adoption and nonadoption of block chain technology. In the two different dual-channel sales models, the results showed that (1) without block chain technology, retail prices increase when the manufacturer’s unit retail cost increases; (2) with block chain technology, retail prices are higher than those of sales models that do not adopt block chain technology; and (3) with block chain technology, the manufacturer should choose the online direct + delegation sales model to sell its products.

Objectives. To assess explicit- (products clearly labeled flavored) and emergent concept- (products implying flavoring but not clearly labeled) flavored tobacco product availability following New York City’s flavor restriction. Methods. We examined explicit- and concept-flavored tobacco product availability, with 2017 New York City Retailer Advertising of Tobacco Survey data (n = 1557 retailers). We assessed associations between block group–level demographic characteristics and product availability by using logistic regression. Results. Most retailers sold explicit-flavored (70.9%) or concept-flavored (69.3%) products. The proportion of non-Hispanic Black neighborhood residents predicted explicit- and concept-flavored product availability, as did having a high school within a retailer’s block group for concept-flavored products. Conclusions. Explicit- and concept-flavored other tobacco products persisted throughout New York City, despite 2009 legislation restricting sales. Public Health Implications. Making local sales restrictions or federal production bans inclusive of all explicit and concept flavors would reduce retailer and industry evasion opportunities and protect the health of youths and others.

Abstract:
As public health advocates struggle over how best to end the cigarette epidemic, one persistent obstacle to developing appropriate policies has been the lingering spectre of ‘prohibition’. A misunderstanding of the USA’s experience with the national ban on sales of alcohol more than a century ago has led even public health advocates to claim that we cannot end the sale of cigarettes because ‘prohibition does not work’: a ban on sales, we hear, would lead to crime and to black markets, among many other negatives. In this Special Communication, we show how the tobacco industry has carefully constructed and reinforced this imagined impossibility, creating a false analogy between cigarettes and alcohol. This improper analogy, with its multiple negative associations, continues to block intelligent thinking about how to end cigarette sales. Instead of prohibition, we propose abolition as a term that better captures what ending sales of the single most deadly consumer product in history will actually do: enhance human health and freedom.

Abstract:
Like so many New Zealand stories, it began with a small, but innovative idea. One weekend at the beach, Tommy said to his friend James, ‘Why isn’t there a decent fruit juice ice block for sale?’. A market opportunity was obvious and the boys decided why not? The ‘Nice Blocks’ name and the ‘Tommy and James’ concept was developed. The company was registered in August 2010 and was New Zealand’s first Fairtrade-certified ice block company. Chris Morrison, a New Zealand pioneer of organic and Fairtrade opportunities (e.g., Phoenix Organics, All Good Bananas and Kokako Organic Coffee), joined them as a third partner in 2011, and since then two other partners have also joined the team. Nice Blocks led to Nice Cream, a coconut-based ice cream. Something nice had begun.Even without a formal business plan, Tommy and James knew that if the company was to grow they needed to think big. After working in rented cafe space, in November 2011 they took the plunge and entered a 3-year sublease on an export-quality production facility, which included a fully equipped kitchen and office spaces, along with separate space for the ice block making and refrigerated storage. In this new space, the partners installed a 40-foot-long ice block machine that led the company to quadruple its output overnight. According to James, they had the second-largest capacity to make ice blocks in New Zealand, after market leader Tip Top. The pair employs five additional staff in the summer, making a total of 10 staff. In April 2014, Tommy and James were deciding whether to focus on growing their New Zealand market share or to enter the Australian market. According to Tommy, ‘If we are to keep achieving our sales, which we have done all summer, where our growth is about 15% a month we will meet all the models that we put in place to have enough capacity to export to Australia. But we don’t want to move too fast’.

Abstract:
This study examines the impact of corporate governance and firm characteristics on corporate restructuring in Korea after the economic crisis. We specifically analyze factors that had a bearing on corporate restructuring following the sudden economic downturn. In particular, we examine the impact of firm characteristics such as leverage levels and prior performance, together with ownership structure like insider block-holding ownership, foreign investor ownership, and institutional investor ownership on the extent of asset sales. The empirical results show that firm characteristics such as high prior performance have a negative impact on asset sales while high leverage has a positive impact. In the ownership structure, insider block holding and foreign investor ownership have negative impacts on asset sales.

Abstract:
The article presents the system and procedure for assessing the development of tourism infrastructure in Ukraine. The conception of the study was the system of theoretical, analytical and model basis of research, which, in turn, consist of five blocks: theoretical, block of generalization, analytical, block of results and block of decisions. At the theoretical level of the study, key terms have been defined and the use of methods for research of the tourism infrastructure of Ukraine is substantiated. At the level of generalization, key indicators of the functioning of the tourism infrastructure are substantiated; the transport, housing, food and travel sales components are highlighted. Each of these groups has a number of indicators that are provided in official sources. Using these indicators, in accordance with the components of the infrastructure, indicative indicators are proposed, which are computed as generalizing ones. The analytical block distinguished the methods of quantitative and qualitative analysis, thanks to which the corresponding results were obtained. Regarding quantitative methods, the study proposes the use of graphoanalytical method, nonlinear forecasting method, neural network forecasting, and the method of integral evaluation. Among the qualitative methods, it is proposed to use fuzzy logic methods to assess the degree of customer satisfaction with the level of the tourisn infrastructure of Ukraine. The block of results accumulates results by quantitative and qualitative methods, and at this stage estimations of relevant decisions are formed. The block of managerial decisions accumulates reasonable decisions based on the results of the study of the development of tourism infrastructure. The proposed system of assessment of tourism infrastructure using economic and mathematical methods of tourist flow provided an opportunity to carry out a systematic analysis of the country’s tourism infrastructure for more balanced and targeted managerial decisions to increase the efficiency of tourism infrastructure use and improve the quality of tourist services.

Using a novel database on venue short sales and market design characteristics, we ask: Where do short sellers exploit their information advantage? Consistent with the prediction of Zhu (2014), we find that exchange short sales comprise a larger proportion of trading and are more informative about future prices than dark-pool short sales, particularly when there is greater competition among short sellers to trade and in the presence of short-lived information. When examining market design characteristics, we find that dark pools offering volume-weighted average price crossing attract more short sales, whereas those offering block trading attract fewer short sales.

Abstract:
We investigate the impact of insider trading in after-hours block market on stock price and short sales volume, before and after the trading becomes public information. During pre-announcement period, positive (negative) abnormal stock return is generated when insiders buy (sell) their shares but does not when quasi-insiders trade, implying that stock price reflects long-lived private information of corporate governance structure. The impact is most prominent when ownership shares are transferred to (from) corporate insiders. In contrast, short sales volume generally does not depend on the identity of block holders. Short sales volume has a negative correlation with abnormal stock return only during the transaction date, indicating that a short-sale decision of tippees is based on their sole expectation on instantaneous stock returns. We also find evidence that insiders select the timing of their trades with respect to maximizing their realized profits or minimizing their purchasing costs.

Abstract:
This paper analyses the effects of trauma on black female sexual agency and communal patriarchal norms controlling female eroticism to maintain male domination in Maryce Conde’s I, Tituba Black Witch of Salem. The research is qualitative and the nature of the research is explorative to investigate facts behind the traumatic sexual oppression in the selected novel of Conde. The researchers used close textual analysis as a research method exposing the historical factors behind the wretched plight of African women living in the United States who become the object of their white masters’ sexual desires. The paper also validates that the African women stand against this oppression and these women define themselves by fighting against the sexual assaults, and many of them are mentally tortured, physically hurt and some even lose their lives in the struggle against the will of their white Masters. The paper sets to prove that sexual exploitation of black women is due to the oppressive system designed by upper class white males that allows them to treat black women as their property.

Abstract:
The Salem witch-hunt, invoking the “red hunt” analogy of the McCarthy era, has been a persistent metaphor for persecution, a symbol of fanatic excess in policing the community boundaries. In American cultural history, however, Salem is regarded American only insofar as it proves un-American—as an exception to American exceptionalism. In particular, Tituba, the only non-white “witch” of the trials to whom the unleashing of the hysteria itself has often been attributed, embodies what is negated in Salem against which Americanness is to be affirmed. Maryse Condé’s 1986 novel, I, Tituba, Black Witch of Salem recuperates Tituba from this darkness not only to reconfigure American identity but ultimately to reconsider human subjectivity. In Condé’s Salem, New England Puritanism showcases the primal scene of American identity formation, in which the personal, national, and religious subjectivities are fused to form the American self as the autonomous self-possessed individual. Tituba, in contrast, exemplifies an alternative subjectivity as an embodied being constituted in relation to others. Similar to Emmanuel Levinas’s ethical subject, Condé’s Tituba highlights the primacy of the other in the formation of the human subject, ultimately rupturing the totality of history with a counter-history of silenced voices or the infinity of the other.

Barokah Building Shop (TB. Barokah) located in Singosari, Malang, East Java is one of the shops that sells building materials. Some of the items being sold are white cement and black cement. The number of cement sales every month is very diverse and fluctuating. Black cement occupies a very high number compared to black cement on the sales chart every month. Likewise with the black cement from the Bosowa brand, white cement from the Gresik brand and the Tiga Roda brand, although demand is small, there is still a movement in the number of sales. The fluctuating amount of demand made the amount of product inventory prepared uncertain, which was influenced by the number of types and brands, so that the product inventory management had difficulty in supplying it. This study aims to predict the amount of cement sold in the following month, as well as to determine the performance between the two double exponential smoothing (DES) methods and the simple moving average (SMA) to forecast cement sales results in TB. Barokah. The SMA method is able and can perform forecasts with stable/constant demand or sales data. Meanwhile, the DES method is able and can provide values to the stratified weights with up to date data. DES is capable of forecasting cement sales each month with an average percentange error (PE) of 0.14%, while the SMA is with an average PE value of 1.35%. Based on the test results using data from TB. Barokah found that the most effective method is DES because it has a smaller PE value than the SMA.

Abstract:
Counterfeit drugs are forgery-tagged medicines that are considered to be drugs without vigorous active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). India, being the world’s largest producer of drugs, faces a crucial issue of counterfeits. Moreover, counterfeits identify their path into the pharmaceutical supply chain (PSC) effortlessly owing to the dearth of security and traceability in the prevailing system. This is because the software applications currently in use stockpile the information about drugs on centralized servers and are accessed by manufacturers, distributors and retailers via the internet. The security of such systems is found to be weak. To address these issues, in this work, a novel method called Supersingular Isogeny and Hosmer–Lemeshow Logistic Regression-based (SI-HLLR) secured information sharing for the pharmaceutical supply chain is proposed. The SI-HLLR method is split into two sections, block validation and authentication. First, with the pharmaceutical sales data provided as input, the supersingular isogeny Diffie–Hellman key exchange model is applied for block validation and then is implemented using a blockchain. Next, with the validated blocks, the authentication mechanism is performed using Hosmer–Lemeshow logistic regression-based authentication that in turn eliminates the counterfeit drugs from the pharmaceutical supply chain. The hyperledger fabric blockchain solution using SI-HLLR leads to improved security ensuring data integrity and better authentication accuracy in the proposed method.

In this web-based food sales application, if there is an error when the customer registers there will be misunderstandings for sellers that can be detrimental. Losses for sellers when the application occurs problems, then online food sales will be disrupted which can reduce product sales and income. In this study to reduce the level of error with website-based sales applications, it is necessary to test or analyze the performance of the application so as not to cause further errors that can be detrimental to the seller and buyer. From several surveys and suggestions finally testing or analyzing food sales applications based on this website applies the Black Box method with one way, namely Boundary Value Analysis. Boundary Value Analysis itself is a technique or way of analyzing that works to test or analyze the amount of value entered in an application that has a battery value.
