Abstract:
Pesantren salaf yang semula berfungsi sebagai pusat pembelajaran agama secara tradional mengalami transformasi modernisasi baik sistem maupun kurikulum untuk mengakomodasi tuntutan masyarakat dan perkembangan zaman modern. Tulisan ini dimaksudkan untuk membahas tentang transformasi modernisasi pesantren salaf dengan setting lokasi di Pulau Madura. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis fenomenologi untuk menggambarkan dinamika fenomena modernisasi yang terjadi di tengah pesantren salaf. Teknik pengambilan data berupa observasi dan interview. Observasi dikakuan dengan cara mengamati secara langsung hal-hal yang terjadi di tengah-tengah obyek penelitian. Wawancara dilakukan kepada pihak terkait (stakeholder) untuk memperoleh informasi tentang bagaimana proses transformasi modernisasi pada pesantren salaf. Kehadiran peneliti menjadi intrumen kunci (key instrument) dalam proses pengumpulan data untuk memastikan originalitas data yang diperoleh. Hasil penelitian ini antara lain; Pertama, pesantren salaf-modern yaitu pesantren yang semula salaf tradisional dikembangkan dengan memasukkan sistem sekolah yang diimplementasikan di lembaga pendidikan di bawah Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan dan Kementerian Agama dari jenjang terendah hingga pendidikan tinggi. Kedua, pesantren salaf-inklusif, lembaga pendidikan pesantren tetap mempertahankan tradisi lama dalam mengajarkan kitab-kitab kuning dengan metode tradional klasik dan membolehkan santri untuk mengenyam pendidikan formal di luar pesantren secara proporsional. Ketiga, pesantren kombinasi salaf modern-inklusif, pesantren yang pola sistemnya mengombinasikan salaf-modern dan salaf-inklusif. Keempat, pesantren salaf-renewed learning method, lembaga pendidikan pesantren yang persisten mengajarkan kitab kuning dengan system pembelajaran seperti yang terdapat dalam sekolah formal yang berada di bawah naungan pemerintah.

Nahdlatul Ulama adalah salah satu organisasi Islam terbesar di Indonesia yang memiliki dan mengedepankan prinsip tawasut} (moderat). Pondok Pesantren Salaf Al-Anwar merupakan salah satu pondok pesantren berbasis paham Nahdlatul Ulama’ dan menganut ajaran Ahl as-sunnah wa al-Jama>ah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami dan mendeskripsikan model moderasi beragama yang dikembangkan dan diimplementasikan Pondok Pesantren Salaf Al-Anwar, Sarang, Rembang, Jawa Tengah. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis deskriptif-kualitatif dengan data penelitian yang diperoleh dari hasil wawancara dengan informan dan hasil pengamatan. Hasil penelitian ini mendeskripsikan bahwa model moderasi beragama yang dilakukan di Pondok Pesantren Al-Anwar adalah model penerapan sistem pendidikan dengan berbasis kurikulum salafi dengan materi pesan berbasis pada kitab-kitab tura>th. Model ini merupakan salah satu media yang efektif dalam menanamkan sikap moderat bagi para santri dan masyarakat. Kiai sebagai pewaris perjuangan para ulama’ memiliki kredibilitas yang kuat dalam menanamkan sikap moderat bagi para santri dan masyarakat. Implementasi moderasi beragama di pesantren dapat dilakukan melalui sikap dan perilaku santri yang selalu berpedoman pada dua prinsip pemikiran yang telah ditanamkan dan dikembangkan di pesantren, yaitu; pertama, santri harus memiliki keilmuan khusus sebagai bekal untuk dirinya sendiri dan ilmu umum untuk menghadapi masyarakatnya. Perkembangan teknologi dapat dirasakan telah membawa perkembangan besar terhadap kehidupan di dunia. Selain berdampak positif juga membawa dampak negatif terhadap cara pandang dan tingkah laku manusia. Sementara akhlak dalam Islam merupakan bagian dari agama yang harus selalu dijaga, karena itu para ilmuwan dan tokok umat Islam selalu menyentuh ranah akhlak sebagai bagian yang harus disampaikan dan diajarkan pada manusia. Salah satu tokoh itu ialah Imam al-Ghazali. Salah satu karyanya yang fenomenal adalah sebuah kitab tasawuf yang berisi banyak nasehat-nasehat agama yaitu Ihya al-Din yang dikarang di Baghdad. Di dalam kita ini, dan karya-karyanya yang lain ia juga banyak menjelaskan mengenai akhlak. Sehingga, seperti apa akhlak menurutnya dan bagaimana metode menjadi akhlak yang baik. Inilah yang menjadi fokus masalah dalam penelitian ini. Konsep pemikiran Imam al-Ghazali itu dapat memberikan refleksi kepada setiap orang yang mengkajinya tentang bagaimana akhlak dan penerapannya yang baik harus dilakukan oleh setiap individu muslim. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah library research, atau penelitian kepustakaan pada beberapa kita al-Ghazali dengan jenis penelitian kepustakaan pada beberapa kitab al-Ghazali dengan jenis penelitian kualitatif. Sumber datanya adalah beberapa kitab karangan al-Ghazali. Data yang terkumpul akan dianalisa dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis. Metode tersebut diguanakan untuk menjelaskan pengertian akhlak dan metodenya menurut Imam al-Ghazali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsep pendidikan menurut Imam al-Ghazali dalam kitab Ihya Ulum al-Din meliputi: Pengertian akhlak menurutnya adalah sesuatu ungkapan tentang kondisi yang metap di dalam jiwa, dan dilakukan perbuatan tersebut dengan mudah, tanpa memerlukan pemikiran. Ia juga membagi akhlak menjadi dua, yaitu akhlak yang baik (al-Khuluq al-Hasan) dan akhlak yang buruk (al-Khuluk as-Sayy’i), landasannya adalah al-Qur’an dan al-Hadits, dan tujuannya ialah untuk mendekatkan diri kepada Allah Swt, selain itu juga untuk membersihkan diri agama mendapatkan kebahagiaan dan ketenangan di dunia dan di akhirat. Sementara metode pembentukannya adalah dengan Mujahadah dan Riyadhah (pelatihan). Memiliki tekad yang kuat untuk mau berubah, dan meninggalkan nafsu syahwat yang berlebihan dan al-Ghazabiyah yang ada di dalam jiwa. Muhasabah al-Nafs (introfeksi), Istiqomah (kontinu). Ajaran yang bersumber dari al-Qur’an dan Hadits, harus pula dengan pembiasaan, pelatihan yang istiqomah, untuk selalu berbuat yang baik, dan selalu berakhlak yang terpuji. Semoga ajaran ini bisa dibiasakan dengan pelatihan oleh setiap manusia, agar bahagia di dunia dan di akhirat. Kata Kunci: Akhlak, Al-Ghazali

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyze the issue of bayʿ wa salaf (the combination of sale and loan contracts in a single arrangement) from the Sharīʿah perspective. Based on the Sharīʿah findings on the issue, the paper examines the existing Islamic banking products and services that use these two specific contracts to determine whether the current practice is in line with Sharīʿah. Design/methodology/approach The paper uses the qualitative method by reviewing and analyzing relevant literature and operational structures to comprehend the issues pertaining to bayʿ (sale) and salaf (loan). It then provides Sharīʿah parameters for bayʿ wa salaf before applying them in assessing some existing Islamic banking products and practices. Subsequently, the compliance status of the banking operations that use these contracts in a specific product structure can be ascertained. Findings The paper finds that the bayʿ wa salaf arrangement in the existing Islamic banking products and services, as elaborated in the paper, does not fall under the prohibited category. This deduction is made in accordance with the parameters derived from jurists’ discussion on the issue of bayʿ wa salaf. It also takes into consideration other factors influencing the existence of such arrangements. Research limitations/implications This conceptual research highlights the jurists’ discussion on the issue of bayʿ wa salaf and the compliance status of the current products and services that use the contracts in a single arrangement (specifically in the case of Malaysia) without discussing other possible structures that can be applied as an alternative to the bayʿ wa salaf arrangement. Practical implications Thorough understanding of the issue can strengthen the industry’s confidence in executing operations that conform to Sharīʿah principles. Originality/value The paper provides comprehensive deliberation on the ruling of bayʿ wa salaf from various schools of thought and exhaustive elaboration on existing Islamic banking products that apply bayʿ wa salaf in their structures. This contributes in reinforcing the stakeholders’ confidence in the operations of Islamic banking and finance.

Since the 1970s, the Salafi movement in Jordan has grown substantially. Today, Salafis are ubiquitous in every major city in the kingdom, and Salafi bookshops, lessons, and activities are common. The purpose of the movement is to institute religious behavior and practices that capture the purity of Islam, as understood by the salaf (early Companions of the Prophet). Salafis believe that because the salaf learned about Islam directly from the Prophet or those who knew him, they commanded a pure understanding of the religion. All decisions in life must therefore be based upon evidence from the Qur⊃an and sunna, as recorded in authentic sayings (had―iths) by the salaf. In instances where particular actions or behaviors were not sanctioned by the original sources of Islam, they are rejected as “not Muslim.” Those who strictly adhere to this religious understanding are considered Salafis.1

Abstract Practically, santri in the Salafi pesantren when facing various challenges of globalization, of course, do a lot of various efforts to develop santri activities to perfect the learning system that is still in the context of the Salaf tradition. From the point of view of value theory, what is done by the salaf santri is not merely a resistance to globalization, but from various breakthroughs made by santri can be categorized as a form of modernity towards an enhanced santri value (project identity), namely a form of creativity to realize value certain can be applied, even though santri implicitly connotes traditional Islamic education actors, but that does not mean that all santri in the existing salafi pesantren are always closed with innovation, technological progress and globalization. Although it is a thick boarding school known as a traditional Islamic boarding school, Malnu Center boarding schools in all its systems do not close themselves to all forms of change, even adjust to the needs of society and the times. Abstrak Secara praktis, santri dalam pesantren salaf ketika menghadapi berbagai tantangan globalisasi, tentu saja melakukan berbagai usaha pengembangan kegiatan untuk menyempurnaan sistem pembelajaran yang masih dalam konteks tradisi salaf. Dari sudut pandang teori nilai, apa yang dilakukan oleh santri salaf tidak semata-mata melakukan resistensi terhadap globalisasi, namun dari berbagai terobosan yang dilakukan santri dapat dikategorikan sebagai bentuk kemodernan menuju nilai santri yang disempurnakan (project identity), yaitu sebuah bentuk kreatifitas untuk mewujudkan nilai tertentu yang mampu diaplikasikan, kendati santri secara implisit berkonotasi sebagai pelaku pendidikan Islam tradisional, namun tidaklah berarti keseluruhan santri di pesantren salafi yang ada selalu tertutup dengan inovasi, kemajuan teknologi dan globalisasi. Meskipun merupakan pondok pesantren yang kental dikenal sebagai pondok pesantren tradisional, namun pesantren Malnu Pusat dalam segala sistemnya tidak menutup diri dari segala bentuk perubahan, bahkan menyesuaikan terhadap kebutuhan masyarakat dan perkembangan zaman.

Of course, too, modernity has many advantages, but besides that there are also many possibilities that must be avoided. Progress in the field of technology must be watched out by Islamic boarding schools in general, the rapid development of technology should not then make the collapse of the pure values of Islamic teachings in salaf boarding schools just the opposite how Salaf Islamic boarding schools can use this information technology as a means to develop and promote education and teaching in Islamic boarding schools.

Pesantren salafi adalah simbol pendidikan yang matang dan hebeul terlihat banyaknya fakta dari segi ajaran dan orang yang benar matang dan kuat dalam menaungi samudra kehidupan, dibalik itu semua terjadi proses panjang dalam menghasilkan kuwalitas insan rahmatan lil’alamin, insan sebagai simbol peradaban dunia. Salah satu pesantren tersebut ialah pesantren sirnarasa. Metode deskriptif dan pendekatan kuwalitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Sehingga menghasilkan beberapa temuan, diantaranya: sistem pesantren dengan corak salaf; materinya kitab kuning; metode sorogan, hafalan, bandungan dan mudzakaroh; peran pesantren sirnarasa adalah menginegritaskan pendidikan salafi dengan tasawuf; keberhasilan terlihat dalam menjalankan ubudiah dan sikap terhadap manusia.

Abstract:
This study deals with the relationship between religious fundamentalism and the internet. It aims to be a critique of the conception that religion and modernization are inherently incompatible; that modernization leads to the death of religion, as advocated the secularization theorists. It argues that the notion is an inaccurate characterization and understanding of the interplay between the forces of religion and modernization; rather, both co-exist and mutually reinforce one another. It also argues that it is inappropriate to label religious fundamentalism as an anti-modern movement; it might be true that it is ideologically ultra-orthodox, but it is technologically a modern movement. The value of this study lies in its findings that the most conservative religious groups like the Salafi community not only persist in the face of modernization, but also transform realities of modernity like the internet into a new form of modern product that serves well their religious needs and interests. To support this, I analysed Salafism, a transnational Islamic fundamentalist movement, and its use of the internet within the Indonesian context to uncover how they employ the technology. I examined the ways the Salafis use the internet in accordance with their ideological purposes in the frameworks of ‘cultured technology’, localization process of global force of information technology, appropriation of global media, and spiritualizing technology. Textual analysis was mainly employed as a method to understand the Salafi web contents and uncover the ways the Salafi use the internet.

The main objective of this assignment is to study the subject "Inquiries in classroom: a proposal of activity in classrooms of elementary education ", with the purpose of giving contributions to the research about how much students can learn if teachers use inquiry tasks in mathematics classes and to think about some criteria to elaborate and apply this kind of activities in order that make possible for teachers using them in a math classroom. We are trying to find out what can be educative projects in this area and how they can contribute for an effective renewal of pedagogical practice at school, so, we think it is important to answer to three questions: what kind of attitudes we can note about the students when they are doing inquiry tasks; what kind of difficulties related to teaching/learning we can find in a methodology which the main aim is inquiry e what about the teacher s role when they ask students to do inquiry tasks. To answer these questions we made five inquiry activities for students that are at the eight grade of Elementary School try to solve them. The group have thirty-four students and nineteen of them was boys and fifteen girls and they are between thirteen and sixteen years old, all of them study in a municipal public school in São Paulo. The data had been collected through a written instrument and interviews with some students. These results had been analyzed according to Ponte s point of view about the inquiry activities. At the end of our research we can say that although initially the most part of the group was shown unreliability on their own capacities about exploring the inquiry tasks and the great challenge that these kind of activities represent to us teachers, we think the results had been very satisfactory, because we can note the students well-known, their enthusiasm, persistence and the progress when they are solving tasks in classes where the methodology was centered in the inquiry
O presente trabalho tem como objetivo estudar o tema Investigações em sala de aula: uma proposta de atividade em salas de aula do ensino fundamental , com o propósito de trazer contribuições à pesquisa referente à aprendizagem dos alunos, através da utilização de tarefas de investigação em matemática e construir critérios para a elaboração e aplicação de atividades que viabilizem o tema em sala de aula. Procurando analisar o que podem ser projetos educativos neste domínio e de que modo contribuem para uma efetiva renovação das práticas pedagógicas escolares, buscamos examinar três questões: que atitudes manifestam os alunos perante tarefas de investigação; qual o papel do professor em atividades de investigação e que dificuldades de ensino e/ou aprendizagem podemos encontrar em uma metodologia centrada na investigação. Para isso foram elaboradas cinco tarefas centradas na investigação e aplicadas a alunos de 8ª série do Ensino Fundamental, o grupo era constituído de 34 alunos dos quais 19 eram meninos e 15 meninas na faixa etária de 13 a 16 anos, de uma escola pública municipal da cidade de São Paulo. Os dados foram coletados através de um instrumento escrito e entrevistas com alguns sujeitos. Esses resultados foram analisados segundo os pressupostos referentes à investigação defendidos por Ponte. Concluímos, que apesar de inicialmente grande parte da turma demonstrar insegurança nas suas capacidades para explorar as tarefas de investigação, do desafio que a elaboração e aplicação dessas tarefas representam para nós professores, os resultados foram muito satisfatórios, pois constatamos o entusiasmo, o empenho e progresso dos alunos durante a resolução das tarefas nas aulas que deram suporte a essa pesquisa

Este estudo é um esforço para gerar uma consciência situacional sobre a operação das Salas AIS no Brasil com o objetivo de melhorar o atendimento ao plano de voo. Analisa a atual quantidade de Salas AIS e a real necessidade dos serviços prestados. Com esse objetivo, descreve a experiência do Centro de Informação Aeronáutica de São Paulo e busca retratar o contexto internacional, analisando como o serviço é prestado nos Estados Unidos. A tese central é que a rede de Salas AIS no Brasil está superdimensionada e defasada e que a efetiva necessidade de certos serviços, como a apresentação compulsória do plano de voo visual, deve ser reavaliada. Como resultado da pesquisa, uma proposta de centralização das Salas de Informação Aeronáutica é feita sob a denominação de Centro de Informação Aeronáutica, como parte do programa Sala AIS Virtual.

I've always considered myself a serious person who understood the meaning of labor. I am determined to labor over my ideas, and to labor seriously. The problem, and by "problem," I mean, "best thing" about this is that no one takes me seriously. Ever. They seem to like my work anyway. Apparently, I'm more funny than I am serious. But that's okay, because, secretly, I think I've always tried to be serious because I never thought I was smart enough to be funny. I often misunderstand things. Sometimes I mishear or wrongly attribute or think that facts are a metaphors or that metaphors are facts. Then I take this (mis)information back to my studio and playing Cosmic Matchmaker, yoking together seeming disparate elements to create a visual vocabulary. And then I labor over it. Very seriously.

Apresento nessa dissertação uma pesquisa etnográfica realizada desde 2009 a partir da experência das salas de recursos para altas habilidades/superdotação em escolas públicas localizadas na cidade de Porto Alegre/RS. Às salas de recursos, assim como às altas habilidades/superdotação eram dados muitos significados, negociados pelos estudantes, familiares e professore/as, fazendo convergir diferentes linguagens (da economia, da religião, do direito, da biologia..). Tento mostrar como as professoras especialistas, com suas maneiras particulares e criativas de lidar com classificações legais e cientificas (superdotação, deficiência, hiperatividade...), problematizavam os próprios juízos e profecias professorais, bem como a medicalização e o diagnostico de transtornos, como hiperatividade, destinando, por fim, aos alunos apontados como problemas ou pobres um segundo olhar. Na salvação e canalização das habilidades da/os estudantes se apoiavam as professoras ao darem um viés democrático, de distribuição equitativa de oportunidades, às idéias de superdotação e de inteligência antes atreladas a argumentos eugênicos, racistas, elitistas e sexistas.
In this text I present an ethnographic research conducted since 2009 from the experience of the high ability/gifted's classrooms in public schools in Porto Alegre / RS. Where students, family and teachers negotiate the multiple meanings of classrooms, as well of the high ability / gifted. Different languages (economics, religion, law, biology ..) are combined. I illustrated how the specialists teachers, in a creative use of legal and scientific classifications (giftedness, disability, hyperactivity), contest the professorial judgments and predictions about the bad, the poor student and the diagnosis of disorders, such as hyperactivity. Teachers seem to give a democratic bias to the giftedness and intelligence, historically linked to eugenic, racist, sexist and elitist arguments, when intend an equitable distribution of opportunities, salvation and channeling student's ability.

In the Master’s degree work called „An Island in Women’s Contemporary Prose” it is analyzed the theme of an island. To analyze the following theme there were chosen three novels written by women―writers, i. e. Birutė Jonuškaitė „The Great Island”, Sue Monk Kidd „The Mermaid Chair” and Victoria Hislop „The Island”. The aim of the work is to reveal spiritual, mythological and geographical spaces of the island, as well as its funkctions and meanings in women’s life. The aim of revealing spaces was reached with the help of feminist criticism, as well as hermeneutic and comparative methods. In classical novels written by men―writers the island is show as the main character’s shelter, prison, challenge place or perfect world. Whereas, work analysis presents us another island’s concept in the novels written by women―writers. The island’s geographical space and time merge together with woman’s subconsciousness revealing spaces of inner world for the woman. In the work it is analyzed in which way women’s prose with the help of various mythological symbols analizes woman’s identity and self―identity problem which is solved only in the context of the island.

Focalizando as Salas de Leitura Polo do Município do Rio de Janeiro, este trabalho empreende uma leitura que visa a analisar as concepções que têm sustentado a configuração destes espaços e as práticas neles desenvolvidas, dialogando com as concepções de leitura em circulação na literatura específica, enfatizando a contribuição da perspectiva discursiva para o encaminhamento das questões relativas à ruptura com o modelo de ensino tradicional, baseado na administração do sentido supostamente único. Para tanto, examina os dispositivos legais que regem as Salas de Leitura e as condições concretas de realização das práticas, buscando articular os níveis macro e micro de análise através do ciclo de políticas, formulado por Stephen Ball e colaboradores, privilegiando as relações entre os contextos de influência, da produção textual e da prática. Assume a abordagem qualitativa e, nela, o estudo de caso, ciente da impossibilidade de generalizações, com o objetivo de aprofundar as observações sistemáticas cotidianas e a interlocução constante com os professores responsáveis pela implementação da proposta, em duas escolas municipais. A descrição minuciosa dos dois contextos da prática remete a considerações acerca das reconfigurações das Salas de Leitura, seus determinantes e as ressignificações produzidas pelos sujeitos envolvidos. Na medida em que o período do trabalho de campo coincidiu com mudança significativa no contexto de influência e de produção textual, a pretensão é sistematizar elementos para a análise dos modos pelos quais esta chega ao contexto da prática e das possibilidades de reconfiguração do espaço das Salas de Leitura.
Focusing on Polo Reading Classes (special spaces equipped with reading materials and multimedia features) in the city of Rio de Janeiro, this study undertakes a reading that aims at analyzing the concepts that have sustained the configuration of these spaces and the practices developed therein, dealing with the conceptions of reading in current literature and emphasizing the contribution of the discursive perspective for the referral of matters relating to the break with the traditional teaching model, based on the administration of the supposedly single direction. Therefore, it examines the legal provisions governing the Reading Classes and the real conditions under which such practices happen, seeking to articulate the macro and micro levels of analysis through the cycle of policies formulated by Stephen Ball and collaborators, focusing on the relationships between the contexts of influence, text production and practice. It takes a qualitative approach, within which a case study, in spite of being aware of the impossibility of generalizations, has been chosen so as to deepen the daily systematic observations and constant dialogue with the teachers responsible for implementing the proposal in two state schools. The detailed description of both contexts of practice refers to considerations about the reconfiguration of the Reading Classes, their determinants and the reinterpretations produced by the staff involved. As the period of fieldwork coincided with significant changes in the context of influence and text production, the intention is to systematize elements to analyze the ways it reaches the context of practice and the possibilities of reconfiguring the space of Reading Classes.

This chapter, along with the next, provides a comprehensive analysis of Jihadi-Salafi jurisprudence on the question of martyrdom-seeking operations (al-amaliyyat al-istishhadiyya), often referred to as suicide bombings in the West. Central to this analysis is an application of the theories of renunciation and subjectivity underlying the Jihadi-Salafi creed and methodology. For Jihadi-Salafi jurists, what separates suicidal ideation from a martyr’s intention (niyya) is a question of one’s individual subjective identity. A martyr must not have concern for the world (dunyā) or possess any improper desire for material wealth or comfort. Instead, a martyrdom seeker must undertake the act intending it for God alone. The legal texts defending martyrdom operations, the chapter concludes, reveal that Jihadi-Salafis appropriate as their ideal precedents for these operations the actions of the Salaf as well as the actions of early Muslim renunciants such as ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Mubarak (d. 181/797), author of the earliest known work on jihad.

For Jihadi-Salafi jurists and authors, the contemporary global system of nation-states and those Muslim-majority governments and nations supporting its continuance bear responsibility for the suffering and oppression faced by contemporary Muslim communities. This chapter argues that Jihadi-Salafi debates on creed (ʿaqīda) and methodology (minhāj) provide an interpretation of the causes of suffering and evil in the world—a theodicy—and contend that these are best addressed through a mode of self-renunciation patterned on the beliefs and practices of the earliest communities of Muslim faith (the Salaf). Traditions of self-renunciation (zuhd) are not unique to Jihadi-Salafis and have long been present in discussions of jihad—dating to the Kitab al-Jihad of ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Mubarak (d. 797). Framing this discussion are the anthropological, sociological, and philosophical theories of religion offered by Richard Valantasis, Peter Berger, Michel Foucault, and Gavin Flood.

This chapter examines the variety of meanings that “Islam” and “Muslim” may have held in the earliest period of Islamic history. Although later Muslim tradition would regard the earliest generations of Muslims as the most pious and devout in all of Islamic history, most of them had little detailed knowledge of the message of the Prophet and paid scant heed to its implications for how they lived their lives. Moreover, even among those who did care about the Prophet's message, there was disagreement as to what exactly it was and shifting opinions about what would later be regarded as matters of central importance. Judged by later standards, most of the earliest followers of Muhammad—both the salaf and those who came after them—will have fallen far short of the expectations and assumptions about them that they have been saddled with for many centuries.

This concluding chapter examines the notion that a genealogical rule of governance pervades Saudi Arabia in relation to Wahhabism and Islam. It suggests that Saudi Arabia's modern genealogical culture is a direct consequence of the rise of Salaf religiosity in the kingdom and that the acute genealogical consciousness of modern Saudi society is a form of bedouin tribal vengeance against modernity. Just as the economic paternalism of the Saudi state has influenced the discourse and strategies of al-Qaeda, the kingdom's economic model has played an important role in shaping its modern genealogical culture as well. The chapter also discusses Hamad al-Jāsir's genealogical project, which preceded the wholesale politicization of the Saudi oral culture, and argues that the attachment to the Arabian past that drove such project was real and visceral, rather than an ideological fetish encouraged or manufactured by the Saudi state.

Existe um potencial significativo de economia de energia nos sistemas de climatização de salas limpas. Insufladores, os quais recirculam ar ultra-limpo, são ativos que demandam grandes custos de energia. Diversas publicações relatam que a vazão de ar para salas limpas costuma ser projetada acima do valor necessário. Paralelamente, estudos publicados propõem modelos de estimação da concentração de partículas em salas limpas, considerando diversas características operacionais. Neste trabalho é proposta uma nova abordagem, onde a taxa de trocas de ar por hora pode ser estimada e fornecida ao ambiente controlado conforme a necessidade, gerando uma economia de energia através da redução da velocidade do insuflador, por meio de um sensor por software, composto por um modelo de estimação de concentração de partículas no interior de uma sala limpa. Como estudo de caso, foi utilizada uma das salas limpas do instituto itt-Chip da Unisinos. Os resultados revelaram que é possível, sob certas condições e cenários de utilização da sala, uma redução de até 75,6% na energia consumida pelo insuflador do sistema HVAC.

Com o aumento de cursos de graduação e pós-graduação e por conseguinte de disciplinas nos campus da UFG, alocar as disciplinas em salas tem se tornando um desafio e consumindo muito tempo pois é feito de forma manual. Este artigo oferece uma solução para o problema usando fluxo máximo de custo mínimo em grafos bipartidos e analisa a alocação atual versus a alocação feita pelo algoritmo, provendo uma alternativa para a alocação manual.

A alocação de profissionais de saúde em ambientes hospitalares muitas vezes não é capaz de se adaptar à demanda de pacientes. Há situações onde existem salas com pouco uso e profissionais ociosos, e salas com muito uso e menos profissionais do que o necessário. Neste contexto, nós propomos uma solução baseada no conceito de elasticidade em Cloud Computing, onde é possível adicionar, migrar ou remover recursos de acordo com as necessidades do serviço. Dessa forma, nos introduzimos o modelo Helastic, baseado em Internet das Coisas, capaz de monitorar o uso das salas pelos pacientes de um hospital e adaptar a capacidade de atendimento dessas salas. Usando uma abordagem preditiva, o Helastic e capaz de antecipar quando uma sala vai ter demanda acima da capacidade e propõe ações para movimentação dos recursos humanos para melhor atender a demanda. Utilizando dados de uma policlínica brasileira, constatou-se a diminuição do tempo de espera em até 96.73%.

Abstract:
OBJETIVOS Analizar diferencias sociodemográficas y clínicas entre consumo de cocaína vs. speedball (cocaína+heroína) en pacientes de una sala de consumo de drogas inyectadas. MÉTODOS Estudio transversal realizado en una sala de consumo de drogas inyectadas admnistrándose una entrevista semiestructarada a todos los pacientes. Se recogían datos sociodemográficos y clínicos, haciendo énfasis en diferencias entre el consumo de cocaína o de speedball y en síntomas de la esfera psicótica. RESULTADOS Hubo 1111 usos de la sala que se relacionaban con uso de cocaína o de speedball, el 89.8% fueron hombres. La edad promedio fue 40.47±5.33. Las diferencias entre uso de cocaína y de speedball se relacionaban principalmente con: sexo (p<.001), la última sustancia consumida previa al uso de la sala (p<.001), patrón de consumo actual (p<.001). Aunque no hubo diferencias de síntomas psicóticos entre las dos sustancias, hay diferencias significativas entre si presentan delirios o ilusiones. CONCLUSIONES Hay diferencias clínicamente relevantes entre pacientes que usan cocaína o speedball, estas diferencias son importantes para el abordaje en salas de consumo de drogas inyectadas. Es importante continuar el estudio en esta área para una mejor intervención de estos pacientes.
