Abstract:
Abstract Eudragit E (EE)-sodium alginate (SA) polyelectrolyte complexes (PECs) were prepared at pH 4 and 5.8 using sodium alginate of high (SAH) and low viscosity (SAL). The optimum EE-SA complexation mass ratio was determined using viscosity measurements. Interactions between EE and SA in PECs were characterized by Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy (FT-IR) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Diltiazem hydrochloride (DTZ HCl) tablets were prepared using the prepared EE-SA PECs and their physical mixtures at different ratios as matrices. Tablets were evaluated for swelling characteristics and in vitro drug release. Tablets containing EE-SAH physical mixtures of ratios (1.5:1 and 1:3) as matrices were effective in achieving sustained release of DTZ HCl, where the percent drug released was significantly (p < 0.05) decreased compared to that from tablets either containing the same ratios of EE-SAL physical mixtures or the preformed EE- -SAH and EE-SAL PECs.

Abstract:
Staphylococcus aureuslipase (SAL), a triacylglycerol esterase, is an important virulence factor inS. aureusand may be a therapeutic target for infectious diseases caused byS. aureus. For the purposes of anti-SAL drug development using structure-based drug design, X-ray crystallographic analysis of SAL overexpressed inEscherichia coliwas performed. The recombinant protein was purified using a three-step protocol involving immobilized metal-affinity chromatography, cation-exchange chromatography and anion-exchange chromatography flowthrough methods, yielding 40 mg of protein per litre of bacterial culture. Crystals were obtained using the sitting-drop vapor-diffusion technique. Diffraction data to 3.0 Å resolution were collected on the BL44XU beamline at SPring-8 at the zinc peak of 1.2842 Å for SAD phasing. The crystals belonged to space groupP4122 orP4322, with unit-cell parametersa= 131.0,b = 131.0,c = 250.6 Å, and are likely to contain four SAL molecules (408 residues) per asymmetric unit.

Amalgamasi adalah salah satu metode yang dapat digunakan untuk ekstraksi emas dengan menggunakan merkuri. Merkuri merupakan logam berat yang sangat berbahaya bagi kesehatan manusia. Pembuangan limbah pengolahan bijih emas dengan menggunakan metode amalgamasi yang masih mengandung merkuri ke sungai dapat mempengaruhi kualitas air sungai tersebut. Penelitian yang dilakukan di Sungai Sangon untuk mengukur kandungan merkuri di dalam air sungai tersebut dan menentukan status mutu air sungai tersebut berdasarkan baku mutu air dalam Peraturan Pemerintah No. 82 Tahun 2001. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan di sepanjang aliran sungai pada titik SA1, SA2, SA3, SA4, SA5 dan SA6. Pengukuran kandungan merkuri dilakukan uji laboratorium dengan menggunakan metode Mercury Analyzer, LPPT Universitas Gadjah Mada. Hasil uji laboratorium menunjukkan bahwa kandungan merkuri di dalam air sungai Sangon masih jauh berada di bawah ambang batas yang ditentukan, sehingga masih aman digunakan untuk keperluan sesuai peruntukkan mutu air kela

Abstract:
Based on a long-time series (1982–2015) of remote sensing data, we analyzed the change in surface albedo (SAL) during summer (from December to the following February) for the entire Antarctic Sea Ice Region (ASIR) and five longitudinal sectors around Antarctica: (1). the Weddell Sea (WS), (2). Indian Ocean, (3). Pacific Ocean (PO), (4). Ross Sea, and (5). Bellingshausen–Amundsen Sea (BS). Empirical mode decomposition was used to extract the trend of the original signal, and then a slope test method was utilized to identify a transition point. The SAL provided by the CM SAF cloud, Albedo, and Surface Radiation dataset from AVHRR data-Second Edition was validated at Neumayer station. Sea ice concentration (SIC) and sea surface temperature (SST) were also analyzed. The trend of the SAL/SIC was positive during summer over the ASIR and five longitudinal sectors, except for the BS (−2.926% and −4.596% per decade for SAL and SIC, correspondingly). Moreover, the largest increasing trend of SAL and SIC appeared in the PO at approximately 3.781% and 3.358% per decade, respectively. However, the decreasing trend of SAL/SIC in the BS slowed down, and the increasing trend of SAL/SIC in the PO accelerated. The trend curves of the SST exhibited a crest around 2000–2005; thus, the slope lines of the SST showed an increasing–decreasing type for the ASIR and the five longitudinal sectors. The evolution of summer albedo decreased rapidly in the early summer and then maintained a relatively stable level for the whole ASIR. The change of it mainly depended on the early melt of sea ice during the entire summer. The change of sea ice albedo had a narrow range when compared with composite albedo and SIC over the five longitudinal sectors and reached a stable level earlier. The transition point of SAL/SIC in several sectors appeared around the year 2000, whereas that of the SST for the entire ASIR occurred in 2003–2005. A high value of SAL/SIC and a low value of the SST existed in the WS which can be displayed by the spatial distribution of pixel average. In addition, the lower the latitude was, the lower the SAL/SIC and the higher the SST would be. A transition point of SAL appeared in 2001 in most areas of West Antarctica. This transition point could be illustrated by anomaly maps. The spatial distribution of the pixel-based trend of SAL demonstrated that the change in SAL in East Antarctica has exhibited a positive trend in recent decades. However, in West Antarctica, the change of SAL presented a decreasing trend before 2001 and transformed into an increasing trend afterward, especially in the east of the Antarctic Peninsula.

Abstract:
Six isonitrongenous and isolipidic diets were formulated to feed 360 fish (mean initial body weight: 6.06 ± 0.02 g) with graded levels of sodium acetate (SA1 (0), SA2 (250 mg/kg), SA3 (500 mg/kg), SA4 (1000 mg/kg), SA5 (2000 mg/kg), and SA6 (4000 mg/kg)) for 8 weeks. The results revealed that weight gain rate, specific growth rate, and feed intake of golden pompano were significantly increased in SA3 and SA4 treatments ( p < 0.05 ). Dietary SA level significantly improved lipid contents and gumminess of muscle ( p < 0.05 ). Supplement levels of dietary SA significantly influenced plasma biochemical parameters containing triglyceride, glucose, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, complements, and immunoglobulin M ( p < 0.05 ). Appropriate supplement levels of dietary SA significantly increased enzyme activities of hepatic superoxide dismutase and total antioxidant capacity and decreased malondialdehyde contents ( p < 0.05 ). Furthermore, appropriate SA levels downregulated the expression levels of Keap1, IL-8, TNF-α, and NF-κB genes and upregulated the expression levels of Nrf2 and TGF-β genes of the spleen ( p < 0.05 ). Excess SA caused negative effects for Trachinotus ovatus. The optimum supplement level of SA for juvenile golden pompano was evaluated to be 1423.67 mg/kg based on WGR.

However, its exact cardioprotective components and the underlying mechanism for therapeutic basis are still poorly understood. Salecan (Sal) is a novel marine microbial polysaccharide. In the present research, Sal and soy protein isolate (SPI) were adopted to fabricate Sal–SPI composite hydrogel based on a stepwise process (thermal treatment and transglutaminase induction). The effect of Sal concentration on morphology, texture properties, and the microstructure of the hydrogel was evaluated. As Sal concentration varied from 0.4 to 0.6 wt%, hydrogel elasticity increased from 0.49 to 0.85 mm. Furthermore, the internal network structure of Sal–SPI composite hydrogel also became denser and more uniform as Sal concentration increased. Rheological studies showed that Sal–SPI elastic hydrogel formed under the gelation process. Additionally, FTIR and XRD results demonstrated that hydrogen bonds formed between Sal and SPI molecules, inferring the formation of the interpenetrating network structure. This research supplied a green and simple method to fabricate Sal–SPI double network hydrogels.

Abstract:
Salidroside (Sal) possesses several pharmacological activities, such as antiaging, and anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticancer activities, and proliferation-promoting activities, but the effects of Sal on oocytes have rarely been reported. In the present study, we evaluated the beneficial effects of Sal, which is mainly found in the roots of Rhodiola. Porcine cumulus oocyte complexes were cultured in IVM medium supplemented (with 250 μmol/L) with Sal or not supplemented with Sal. The maturation rate in the Sal group increased from 88.34 ± 4.32% to 94.12 ± 2.29%, and the blastocyst rate in the Sal group increased from 30.35 ± 3.20% to 52.14 ± 7.32% compared with that in the control group. The experimental groups showed significant improvements in the cumulus expansion area. Sal reduced oocyte levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and enhanced intracellular GSH levels. Sal supplementation enhanced the mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), ATP level, and mtDNA copy number, which shows that Sal enhances the cytoplasmic maturation of oocytes. Oocytes in the Sal group exhibited slowed apoptosis and reduced DNA breakage. Cell cycle signals and oocyte meiosis play important roles in oocyte maturation. The mRNA expressions of the MAPK pathway and MAPK phosphorylation increased significantly in the Sal group. The mRNA expression of the oocyte meiosis gene also increased significantly. These results show that Sal enhances the nuclear maturation of oocytes. Moreover, Sal increased the number of blastocyst cells, the proliferation of blastocysts, and the expressions of pluripotency genes. Sal down-regulated apoptosis-related genes and the apoptotic cell rate of blastocysts. In summary, our results demonstrate that Sal is helpful to improving the quality of porcine oocytes in vitro, and their subsequent embryonic development.

Master essä skriven i relation till examensutställningen av tvillingskulpturen Homo digitalis på galleri Mejan. Rukets sal är även en kortare utdrag av filmprojektet; Mina sanna lögners historia som under 2017 är under utveckling år 2017 med stöd av Region Jönköpings Län. I den här berättelsen, ”Mina sanna lögners historia”, berättar jag historien om relationen mellan Dag och mina forna vänner ur en serie avgörande ögonblick som har skapat och format den person jag är idag. Det ska dock inte vara en historia som handlar om mitt liv, utan jag använder min bakgrund som medel för studie i att berätta ”livet som formar oss”. Det är också en historia i Jönköping där jag även kan komma åt det andliga tillståndet i skapandet av en identitet.
Homo digitalis - Skulptur Mitt Master Examensprojekt går efter titeln Homo Digitalis och är en direkt utveckling av det mitt Kandidatexamensprojekt ”Homo sacer” - Konstdokumentär 60 min - som kom att tävla i ett flertal nordiska och internationella filmfestivaler. I Homo Digitalis har jag hittat en form och en process som kommer sträcka sig bortom min masterutställning med planer för en fortsatt utveckling under 2017-18. Det är framförallt en väldigt resurs- och tids-krävande process med ständiga materialtester och en metod som tvingar en att bl.a sy för hand, jobba med enstaka hårstrån eller skulptera hudstruktur. Jag är intresserad av samtidsmänniskan. Hur en människa skapas. Hur vi idag bygger våra identiteter mellan den digitala världen och den fysiska världen. Begrepp som sanning, moral, verklighet, lögn mm. blir allt mer flytande begrepp. Titeln Homo Digitalis vittnar om det tillståndet samt samtidigt som minpraktik är fysiska objekt. I det digitala konstruerar vi hela tiden egna unika identiteter med en ny typ av kommunikation. Samtidigt är det en värld bortom individens kontroll med en potential till att växa ut på sätt vi inte är förmögna att förutse. Dessa fria utväxter har blivit en metod jag fört över i min skapande process med skulpturerna i Homo Digitals. En sensommarmorgon 1983, förlöstes jag och min tvillingbror Jacob med kejsarsnitt på sjukhuset Ryhov i Jönköping. Båda våra föräldrar är läkare och vår mor, Maria-Pia hade av ren nyfikenhet begärt att få bevakade hela operationen. Hon fick som alla andra ligga på ett operationsbord klädd i gröna operationsdukar. Undantaget var en spegel som de monterat upp ovanför magen. På så sätt kunde hon blicka rakt in i sig själv när de skar upp buken och plockade ut de två främlingar som idag är jag och min bror.  I tanken vänder jag först alltid bort blicken. Jag blir orolig och förstummad inför hennes val att blicka in i vad jag upplever som en paradox. Samtidigt är det en blick som jag ständigt försöker förstå, för den går inte att värjas sig från. Om jag kan titta, så måste jag titta. Berättelsen om vår födsel har alltid följt mig med enorm fascination och förankrat ett starkt intresse för det stora allmänmänskliga och det lilla specifika i landstingsmiljöns enorma spännvidd mellan födsel och död. Tvillingskapet och min omgivnings gudsfruktan (Bibelbältets högsäte Jönköping) skulle också komma att bli omständigheter som personligen influerat och fortsätter att influera mitt konstnärliga skapande. I min moders blick in i sin egen livmoder formulerades min första fråga; vad skapar en människa? Det är en fråga om individen och den fria viljan. Frågan vänder jag framför allt mot materialet, estetiken, kulturen och genetiken som ständigt omger oss och formar oss som människor i vår vardag.  Som konstnär rör jag mig över flera discipliner men jag har en fördjupad kunskap inom film och skulptur. När jag skapar så arbetar jag hela tiden mot att göra verket autonomt. Det gäller på flera plan. I processen och skapandet av skulpturen är det viktigt att den tillslut tar kontroll över sig själv och blir något som är bortom min kontroll. Jag vill alltså göra mina verk självständiga. Mitt intresse för individen som kan argumenteras till att vara en viljelös kropp, styrd av massan, har gjort att jag vill frigöra mina skulpturer från mina egna konventioner och fördomar. Jag har därför utvecklat olika metoder, som gör att det inte fullt går att förutse skulpturens form och rörelse. När jag skapade skulpturerna Homo digitalis, Infant Gaze, Fetus och The tyranny of intimacy så arbetade jag hela tiden med principen att det ska finnas motstånd i de textila formerna. Det har gjort att jag varit tvungen att forcera ihop en t.ex rund form med en kantig form. Så fort formerna började följa varandra mot något behagligt, avbröt jag och forcerade istället på en ny form som inte vill passa in. Resultatet blev kroppar som befinner sig i en ständig kamp mot mig och min process. Som uppstoppade gossedjur är Skulpturerna representationer till läran om livet samtidigt har min metod fått givit kropparna en performativ kvalité av att vilja vrida sig ur sin egen kropp.  Historien om vår födsel utvecklades vidare att jag kom ut lealös, tyst och oförmögen att andas vart på jag omedelbar forslades vidare till barnakuten. Undertiden fick min tvillingbror Jacob landa tryggt i min moders varma famn. Några timmar senare kom barnmorskan in på rummet och meddelade glatt att; Nu kommer han! Min mor tittade då upp med en förundrad blick och frågade; Vem?  Jag fick en dotter för två år sen. Hon föddes med akut kejsarsnitt vilket jag likt min mor kunde bevittna via en reflektion i operationslampan. Det var dock inte jag som låg på operationsbordet, lik väl var hela mitt väsen fyllt av motstridiga känslor. Det skulle visas sig att det inte var det fysiska ingreppet som kom att påverka mig. Istället var det upplevelsen av min dotters faktiska resa från ickeexistensen i mörkrets och dödens domän, in till vår fysiska verklighet av kött och blod. Känslan drabbade mig hårt redan vid första ultraljudet. Ett vetenskapligt redskap utformad med en egen estetik redovisade tydligt formen av en kropp som är bunden till mig. Det var en stor metafysisk upplevelse som följt med mig in i konsten.  Samtidigt som jag har lyckats närma mig min moders blick i konsten, har jag bara har skrapat på ytan av hur jag i framtiden kan skulptera mer precist och fokuserat. Den tyngd och kraft som t.ex landstingsfilten bär på är för mig en avgörande upptäckt i mitt arbete. Jag tycker att skapande är en ständig kamp av sökande efter mening. Därför ser jag det inte längre som att jag enbart skulpterar med faktiska material (latex, tyg landstingsfiltar, bandag, stoppning mm.) utan materialen i sig, skapar en ytterligare immateriell kropp som tar form i betraktaren. Det är materialens inneboende konnotationer som skapar den immateriella kroppen. Det innebär att min praktik till stor del går ut på att söka efter unika material med en större innebörd än dess faktiska materialitet och praktiska betydelse. Därför är det min ambition att ständigt leta vidare efter nya material som med liknande kvalitéer, gärna i en större internationella kontext. I våras började jag t.ex med att söka Europa efter material med en gemensam och bindande egenskaper.  Mötet och förhållandet till ”den andra” är en annan viktig punkt i mitt arbete. Det ligger också i direkt relation till mitt intresse för tvillingskapet. Homo digitalis är en tvillingskulptur. Det är två kroppar som förhåller sig till varandra vilket inte tvingar betraktaren intellektualisera sitt möte och sig själv med skulpturen, utan skulpturen har redan en pågående dialog. Det blir också ett sätt för mig att göra skulpturerna så självständiga som möjligt. Jag är inte Jehovas Vittne och har aldrig varit troende. Däremot har jag vuxit upp med många vänner som tillhört trossamfund och bland dem har Jehovas Vittnen varit den mest intressanta. Det är bräckligheten som fascinerar mig, hur lätt de kan bli kontaminerade och måste därför skärma av sig mot människor med en annan världssyn. De lever alltså inom en väldigt tydligt ramverk med en förklaringsmodell om existensen som bygger på att välja bort och forma om verklighetens beståndsdelar. För mig kristalliseras detta fenomen i Jehovas Vittnen och blir ett material jagkan använda.  Det är min övertygelse att vi alla tolkar världen utifrån liknande kollage av tvivelaktiga grunder. För vi har alla våra förklaringsmodeller där vi selektivt komponerar en värld vi kan förstå. För mig är det bara i konsten som verkligheten är fri att vara vad den vill.

O seguinte relatório visa descrever o trabalho realizado ao longo do processo de criação do projecto “O SAL DE AVEIRO – GLOSSÁRIO DAS ALFAIAS UTILIZADAS NA PRODUÇÃO DE SAL”. Neste trabalho, poder-se-á consultar as várias etapas que conduziram à criação de uma fonte de informação relacionada com as Salinas de Aveiro, utilizando, para o efeito, a ferramenta MultiTermTM. Os aspectos essenciais deste relatório prendem-se com a pesquisa terminológica, a dificuldade em encontrar os termos certos devido à especificidade do tema, a criação de um glossário em Excel, a conversão e posterior importação desse glossário na ferramenta MultiTermTM. A realização deste trabalho permitiu-me ultrapassar as dificuldades inerentes à criação de um glossário, descobrir algumas características e regras terminológicas e, finalmente, explorar algumas características próprias à ferramenta MultiTermTM, o que se poderá vir a revelar muito útil profissionalmente. ABSTRACT: The purpose of the following paper is to account for the work done during the creation of the project “SALT IN AVEIRO – GLOSSARY OF THE TOOLS USED DURING THE PRODUCTION OF SALT”. This paper describes the different stages that have led to the creation of a source of information related to the Salinas of Aveiro, using MultiTerm TM. The main aspects of this report are related to terminological research (difficulty in finding terms due to the specificity of the subject), the creation of a glossary using Excel, and its conversion and import into MultiTermTM. Carrying out this work allowed me to overcome the intrinsic difficulties when creating a glossary, to discover some characteristics and terminological rules and, finally, to explore some specificity of MultiTermTM, which might be very useful at a professional level.

Abstract:

Isolering är en åtgärd för att förhindra smittspridning eller för att skydda patienten från smitta. Vårdformen kan ge upphov till psykisk påfrestning och lidande hos patienten. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att göra en jämförelse av upplevelser hos patienter i smitt- eller skyddsisolering. Studien genomfördes som en litteraturstudie och baserades på 16 vetenskapliga artiklar. Det framgick skillnader och likheter vid jämförelserna av upplevelsen hos smitt- och skyddsisolerade patienter. Några av skillnaderna var kunskapen och förståelsen för isoleringen. De skyddsisolerade upplevde det som en process som de behövde genomgå medan de smittisolerade upplevde det som mer traumatiskt eftersom de fick otillräcklig information vid isoleringstillfällets start. Något som var gemensamt för både smitt- och skyddsisolering var känslor av ensamhet, tristess och fångenskap. Vidare visade det sig att ångest och depression var förekommande reaktioner hos både de smitt- och skyddsisolerade patienterna. Mer forskning inom det här området efterfrågas eftersom inga tidigare studier med jämförelser av dessa isoleringsformer har påträffats inom området. Även ytterligare utbildning behövs för att skapa en god vårdkvalitet för patienter i isolering för att främja en god omvårdnad i den kliniska verksamheten.

O presente trabalho traz um levantamento dos termos usados por indivÃduos que desenvolvem atividades relacionadas à IndÃstria do sal e tem como proposta a elaboraÃÃo de um glossÃrio dos termos desse domÃnio. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida nas localidades de MossorÃ, Areia Branca e Grossos, municÃpios que fazem parte da regiÃo salineira do Rio Grande do Norte. Portanto, o nosso objeto de estudo sÃo os termos da indÃstria e da cultura do sal, tanto na modalidade escrita, como tambÃm na modalidade oral, levando em consideraÃÃo a possibilidade da variaÃÃo terminolÃgica. The research hereafter presents a study on words used by individuals that work with activities related to salt industry and has the proposal of elaborating a glossary on the terms in that domain. The investigation has been developed in locations such as MossorÃ, Areia Branca and Grossos, cities that make part of Rio Grande do Norte salty region. Our work aims at studying industry terms and salty culture, in written and oral modality, considering the possibility of terminological variation. The work consists, primarily, of a salty industry historical institutional investigation as well as of the entire production process. In this work, different lexical sciences are introduced and their respective theoretical approaches, but the main emphasis is put on Socioterminology theory and its methodological guidelines, considering its importance for this research. After that, the methodological procedures for the socioterminological research are exposed and distributed in two phases: field research and glossary organizational methodology. In sequence, the Glossary of Salty Terminology (GLOSSAL) is presented, composed of 325 terms alphabetically organized, with a systematical remissive index, distributed in four conceptual fields: manufacturing, beneficiatement, trading, utilization and consumption. This corpus investigation is justified by the absence of written works organized and systemized in the salty technological area in the specified cities. This work also contributes to provide the divulgation of a terminographical product destined, not only to specialists in the area and to Lexical Science researchers, but to the public interested in improving their knowledge in salty terminology.

The present thesis proposes the creation of a Museum of the Salt at the location of Praia Seca, City of Araruama, Rio de Janeiro. The Museum aims to search and communicate the memories about the knowledge and expertises of the salt-making activity and the history of the formation of the Praia Seca locale. Intends to encompass the principles of the New Museology regarding its integration plan to the environment and the active participation of the community of Praia Seca. The acquis will mainly be formed by testimonials from different actors who participate in the history of the salt-making activity at Praia Seca, using the oral history as methodology. Our goal is the Museum of the Salt become a 'place of memory', besides its relationship with the city come to contribute to the appreciation of the memories and the writing of the local history as well as the development and dynamism of that locale.
O presente trabalho tem por objetivo propor a criação de um Museu do Sal na localidade de Praia Seca, Araruama- RJ. O museu tem como objetivo pesquisar e comunicar as memórias sobre os saberes e fazeres da atividade salineira e a história da formação da localidade de Praia Seca. Pretende compartilhar com os princípios da Nova Museologia quanto ao seu plano de integração ao meio-ambiente e à participação ativa da comunidade de Praia Seca. O acervo a ser constituído contará principalmente com depoimentos de diferentes atores participantes da história da atividade salineira de Praia Seca, utilizando a metodologia da história oral. Pretendemos que o Museu do Sal seja um 'lugar de memória' e que a relação dele com a cidade contribua para a valorização das memórias e a escrita da história local assim como o desenvolvimento e dinamismo do lugar.

Na última década o Brasil descobriu imensas reservas de petróleo e gás natural em sua plataforma continental, precisamente na região geológica conhecida como camada pré-sal. Embora um ambiente inóspito e que exige uma complexa e inédita tecnologia de extração, o pré-sal já é uma realidade e elevará o país à posição de um dos principais produtores de petróleo no mundo. Porém, a atividade de explotação envolve um meio absolutamente sensível e que definitivamente requer uma diligência duradoura. Assim, o ambiente marinho precisa ser protegido acima dos próprios anseios econômicos por um rígido sistema normativo local e internacional, justamente devido ao caráter universal do bem tutelado. Dessa forma, o direito ambiental internacional pode ser considerado como paradigmático, um regime autossuficiente e fragmentado com métodos próprios, conceitos e princípios que visam, sobretudo, o desenvolvimento sustentável. O presente estudo aborda os reflexos da atividade petrolífera de exploração do pré-sal sob a ótica da soberania permanente sobre os recursos naturais, um princípio surgido a partir de meados do século passado em várias Resoluções da Assembleia Geral da ONU, evoluindo através dos tempos e passando a adquirir, finalmente, uma forte vertente ambiental. Embora seja importante delinear a natureza jurídica da soberania permanente (enquanto princípio, costume ou jus cogens), a maior relevância será dada à própria limitação ao exercício da soberania permanente pelos Estados, ou seja, a obrigação imanente de desenvolvimento estatal respeitando critérios de sustentabilidade e de responsabilidade de longa duração. Dissertação apresentada como requisito ao título de mestre em direito pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC).

Abstract : In the last decade Brazil has discovered huge reserves of oil and natural gas in its continental shelf, precisely in the geological region known as pre-salt layer. Although an inhospitable environment which requires a complex and unprecedented extraction technology, the pre-salt is already a reality and will bring the country to a position of the largest oil producers in the world. However, the exploitation involves an absolutely sensitive environment, which definitely requires an everlasting care. Thus, the marine environment must be protected above economic anxieties by a rigid regulatory system, both local and international, precisely due to the universal feature of the seas. Therefore, the international environmental law can be considered as paradigmatic, a self-contained and fragmented regime with its own methods, concepts and principles that are mainly leading to sustainable development. The study examines the effects of the oil activity in the pre-salt exploitation from the perspective of permanent sovereignty over natural resources, a principle emerged from the middle of the last century in various UN General Assembly Resolutions, which evolved through the time and finally acquired a strong environmental component. However it is important to outline the legal status of permanent sovereignty (as a principle, custom or jus cogens), the most relevance will be given to the permanent sovereignty limitation by the states, i.e., the inherent obligation of state development but respecting criteria of sustainability and long-term liability. Theses submitted as a requirement for the title of Master in Law and International Relations of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC).

No processo de comunicação de recomendações alimentares em formato numérico (e.g. dose diária máxima recomendada) é fundamental que a informação seja transmitida num formato que permita compreender o que é recomendado. Exemplo é o consumo de sal, em que a adesão à recomendação depende de uma estimativa precisa do consumo presente e da quantidade que deveria ser consumida, de forma a ajustar o consumo à recomendação. Com o objetivo de estudar estratégias de incremento desta precisão, foram analisados facilitadores da estimação de quantidades de sal, nomeadamente: 1) preferência por apresentação de informação em formato numérico 2) apresentação de informação numérica em formato visual, com recurso a âncoras de referência (volumes em formatos familiares, equivalentes ao peso medido), facilitadoras do processo de tomada de decisão. Para este efeito, desenvolveu-se um estudo exploratório experimental com uma amostra de 120 participantes, idosos e jovens, com base numa entrevista estruturada e tarefas de estimação de quantidades (peso em gramas). Os resultados mostraram que a ancoragem num formato familiar de referência de quantidade (moedas) permitiu estimativas de quantidade de sal mais precisas, independentemente da preferência por apresentação em formato numérico; Five grams or a handful of salt? Exploratory study of salt quantity estimation Abstract: In the process of communicating food recommendations in numerical format (eg maximum recommended daily amount) it is essential that the information is transmitted in a format that allows understanding of what is recommended. One example is the consumption of salt, where adherence to the recommendation depends on an accurate estimate of the present consumption and the quantity that should be consumed, in order to adjust consumption to the recommendation. In order to study strategies to increase this precision, we analyzed facilitators of the estimation of salt quantities, namely: 1) preference for presentation of information in numerical format 2) presentation of numerical information in visual format, using reference anchors (volumes in familiar formats, equivalent to the measured weight), facilitators of the decision-making process. For this purpose, an experimental exploratory study was carried out with a sample of 120 participants, elderly and young, based on a structured interview and quantitative estimation tasks (weight in grams). The results showed that anchorage in a family quantity reference format (coins) allowed for more accurate salt quantity estimations, regardless of the preference for presentation in numerical format.

Wellhead seals are a key component of reservoir and salt-cavern storage wells that function to seal the well from the external environment and separate stored fluids contained within the well. Loss of integrity of these seals or seal failures are a common occurrence in the storage industry. Practical guidelines on how to choose the proper sealing components and prevent seals from failing are generally lacking. In this study, data related to wellhead sealing were compiled through a literature review, discussions with wellhead experts, and a survey distributed to Pipeline Research Council International (PRCI) members and others involved in the industry. Through the evaluation of this data, meaningful parameters involved in successful and failed seals were identified and best practice recommendations were provided on seal selection and wellhead design. There is a related webinar.
