Abstract:

Abstract:
Activated carbon fibres (ACFs) are considered as the next generation of activated carbon products. However, lack of structural diversity in pore structure and high prices of raw materials for ACFs has restrained the development of ACF materials. In this paper, a sisal-based activated carbon fibre (SACF) material was prepared from sisal wastes with a unique thermal stabilization treatment to maintain fibrous shapes of SACFs while dispersing in solutions, and the SACFs were prepared as raw fibre materials for fuel evaporation emissions controlling products. Experimental results of N 2 adsorption showed that SACF has a typical I-type adsorption isotherm, with specific surface area of SACF samples of approximately 1200 m 2 g −1 , and mainly microporous pore structure. Compared with commercial samples (specific surface area, 1841.29 m 2 g −1 ), the butane working capacities of SACF for advanced fuel evaporation emissions controlling product was 0.4 g/100 ml higher. Furthermore, two dynamic models, Thomas model and Clark model, were applied to adsorption breakthrough data, which showed excellent fit. And it indicated from the adsorption breakthrough curves and parameters of both models that the SACF has better performance in fuel adsorption and desorption process than the commercial samples.

Abstract:
A series of polymer/clay hybrid superabsorbent composites (SACFs) comprising acrylamide, acrylic acid, sodium 2-acrylamido-tetradecyl sulfonate, fiber, and vermiculite byin situintercalation and exfoliated method was successfully synthesized. The structure of SACFs was characterized by IR, SXRD, and SEM measurements. Much notable absorbency for SACF-2 was observed compared to that for SACF-1 in the absence of hydrophobic group in the high cationic solution due to the alkyl carbon chain and sulfonic acid group of hydrophobic moistures protecting the cations from attacking the carboxylate groups. What is more, high temperature fiber which acts as bridge connection for the polymeric network structure enhanced both toughness and strength for SACF-4 in the harsh conditions. At the total dissolved substance of 212000 mg/L for Tarim Basin injected water and the temperature of 120°C, desired absorbency as well as water retaining property for SACF-4 was observed during the long period of thermal ageing. Core flooding experiments demonstrated that SACFs could migrate as amoeba in the porous medium and accumulated in the narrow channel to adjust injection profile, promoting the subsequent water diverting into the unswept zones. Finally, characteristic parameters for SACFs calculated from flooding experiment further confirmed these polymer/clay hybrid composites reinforced by fiber would have robust application in the mature oilfield for profile control.

Griseb) e capim tifton-85 (Cynodon dactylon Pers.); no SAC4 foi plantado, no primeiro terço do tanque, alternanthera, no segundo terço, taboa e no terceiro terço, capim tifton-85.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT We have investigated the molecular evolution of plant and nonplant actin genes comparing nucleotide and amino acid sequences of 20 actin genes. Nucleotide changes resulting in amino acid substitutions (replacement substitutions) ranged from 3-7% for all pairwise comparisons of animal actin genes with the following exceptions. Comparisons between higher animal muscle actin gene sequences and comparisons between higher animal cytoplasmic actin gene sequences indicated <3% divergence. Comparisons between plant and nonplant actin genes revealed, with two exceptions, 11-15% replacement substitution. In the analysis of plant actins, replacement substitution between soybean actin genes SAc1, SAc3, SAc4 and maize actin gene MAc1 ranged from 8-10%, whereas these members within the soybean actin gene family ranged from 6-9% replacement substitution. The rate of sequence divergence of plant actin sequences appears to be similar to that observed for animal actins. Furthermore, these and other data suggest that the plant actin gene family is ancient and that the families of soybean and maize actin genes have diverged from a single common ancestral plant actin gene that originated long before the divergence of monocots and dicots. The soybean actin multigene family encodes at least three classes of actin. These classes each contain a pair of actin genes that have been designated kappa (SAc1, SAc6), lambda (SAc2, SAc4) and mu (SAc3, SAc7). The three classes of soybean actin are more divergent in nucleotide sequence from one another than higher animal cytoplasmic actin is divergent from muscle actin. The location and distribution of amino acid changes were compared between actin proteins from all sources. A comparison of the hydropathy of all actin sequences, except from Oxytricha, indicated a strong similarity in hydropathic character between all plant and nonplant actins despite the greater number of replacement substitutions in plant actins. These protein sequence comparisons are discussed with respect to the demonstrated and implicated roles of actin in plants and animals, as well as the tissue-specific expression of actin.

Abstract:
The interactions between CO2 flux, an important component of ecosystem carbon flux, and climate change vary significantly among different ecosystems. In this research, the inter-annual variation characteristics of ecosystem respiration (RE), gross ecosystem exchange (GEE), and net ecosystem exchange (NEE) were explored in the temperate grassland (TG) of Xilinhot (2004–2010), the subtropical artificial coniferous forest (SACF) of Qianyanzhou (2003–2010), and the tropical rain forest (TRF) of Xishuangbanna (2003–2010). The main factors of climate change affecting ecosystem CO2 flux were identified by redundancy analysis, and exponential models and temperature indicators were constructed to consider the relationship between climate change and CO2 flux. Every year from 2003 to 2010, RE and GEE first increased and then decreased, and NEE showed no significant change pattern. TG was a carbon source, whereas SACF and TRF were carbon sinks. The influence of air temperature on RE and GEE was greater than that of soil temperature, but the influence of soil moisture on RE and GEE was greater than that of air moisture. Compared with moisture and photosynthetically active radiation, temperature had the greatest impact on CO2 flux and the exponential model had the best fitting effect. In TG and SACF, the average temperature was the most influential factor, and in TRF, the accumulated temperature was the most influential factor. These results provide theoretical support for mitigating and managing climate change and provide references for achieving carbon neutrality.

Abstract:
Background and Objectives: The landscape aesthetic service (LAS) is a crucial ecosystem service in subalpine forests of the mountain and ravine regions of the Tibetan Plateau, especially in autumn; it can provide important ecological and economic value, improving the livelihood of the local people. Canopy gap acts as a key role in the maintenance of species diversity and forest stability and ecosystem services. However, the mechanisms and interactions of forest stability maintained by gap formations and LAS via gap dynamics are not fully understood. The aim of this study was to explore the effects of canopy gaps on autumn color-leaved tree species diversity (ACTSD), color-leaved patch structure attributes (CPSA), LAS, and their interactions during the autumn viewing period, and to provide a fundamental basis for the management and protection of subalpine autumn color-leaved forests (SACF). Materials and Methods: We used very high-resolution images to quantify gap characteristics and examined the effects of canopy gaps on ACTSD, CPSA, and LAS in 21 SACF plots in southwestern China. We then used path analysis to determine the relationships between these factors. Results: The number of gaps and total gap area were the key gap characteristics affecting LAS; particularly, medium canopy gaps (51–100 m2) played a more important role. The path model showed that increasing the total gap area along with the number of medium canopy gaps had direct positive effects on ACTSD, color-leaved patch diversity, and total color-leaved patch area, thus improving the LAS. Conclusions: Canopy gaps indirectly improve LAS in autumn by significantly affecting ACTSD and CPSA. Our results suggest that forest managers may be able to manipulate the numbers and proportion of medium canopy gaps to protect and preserve ACTSD and color-leaved landscapes, promoting the LAS of SACF, and in turn, ensuring the coordinated development of economic, social, and ecological benefits for the underdeveloped rural montane areas of southwestern China.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT SacY antiterminates transcription of the sacB gene inBacillus subtilis in response to the presence of sucrose in the growth medium. We have found that it can substitute for BglG, a homologous protein, in antiterminating transcription of thebgl operon in Escherichia coli. We therefore sought to determine whether, similarly to BglG, SacY is regulated by reversible phosphorylation in response to the availability of the inducing sugar. We show here that two forms of SacY, phosphorylated and nonphosphorylated, exist in B. subtilis cells and that the ratio between them depends on the external level of sucrose. Addition of sucrose to the growth medium after SacY phosphorylation in the cell resulted in its rapid dephosphorylation. The extent of SacY phosphorylation was found to be proportional to the cellular levels of SacX, a putative sucrose permease which was previously shown to have a negative effect on SacY activity. Thus, the mechanism by which thesac sensory system modulates sacB expression in response to sucrose involves reversible phosphorylation of the regulator SacY, and this process appears to depend on the SacX sucrose sensor. The sac system is therefore a member of the novel family of sensory systems represented by bgl.

Abstract:
Object The objective of this study was to assess the cross-sectional areas (CSAs) of the superficial, deep flexor (DF), and deep extensor (DE) paraspinal muscles in patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM), and to evaluate their correlations with functional status and sagittal spinal alignment changes following central corpectomy with fusion and plating. Methods In this retrospective study of 67 patients who underwent central corpectomy with fusion and plating for CSM, the CSAs of the paraspinal muscles were calculated on the preoperative T2-weighted axial MR images and computed as ratios with respect to the corresponding vertebral body areas (VBAs) and as flexor/extensor CSA ratios. These ratios were then compared with those in the normative population and analyzed with respect to various clinicoradiological factors, including pain status, Nurick grade, and segmental angle change at follow-up (SACF). Results The mean CSA values for all muscle groups and the DF/DE ratio were significantly lower in the study cohort compared with an age- and sex-matched normative study group (p < 0.001). Among various independent variables tested in a multivariate regression analysis, increasing age and female sex significantly predicted a lower total extensor CSA/VBA ratio (p < 0.001), while a longer duration of symptoms significantly predicted a greater total flexor/total extensor CSA ratio (p = 0.02). In patients undergoing single-level corpectomy, graft subsidence had a positive correlation with SACF in all patients (p < 0.05), irrespective of the preoperative segmental angle and curvature, while in patients undergoing 2-level corpectomy, graft subsidence demonstrated such a correlation only in the subgroup with lordotic curvatures (p = 0.02). Among the muscle area ratios, the DF/DE ratio demonstrated a negative correlation with SACF in the subgroup with preoperative straight or kyphotic segmental angles (p = 0.04 in the single corpectomy group, p = 0.01 in the 2-level corpectomy group). There was no correlation of any of the muscle ratios with change in Nurick grade. Conclusions Patients with CSM demonstrate significant atrophy in all the flexor and extensor paraspinal muscles, and also suffer a reduction in the protective effect of a strong DF/DE CSA ratio. Worsening of this ratio significantly correlates with greater segmental kyphotic change in some patients. A physiological mechanism based on DF dysfunction is discussed to elucidate these findings that have implications in preventive physiotherapy and rehabilitation of patients with CSM. Considering that the influence of a muscle ratio was significant only in patients with hypolordosis, a subgroup that is known to have facetal ligament laxity, it may also be postulated that ligamentous support supersedes the influence of paraspinal muscles on postoperative sagittal alignment in CSM.

Abstract:
The joint radar and communications (JRC) waveform often has a high range sidelobe, which will degrade the target detection performance of an automotive JRC system. To solve this problem, a joint radar and communications complementary waveform group (JRC-CWG) design method is proposed in this paper by exploiting the philosophy of the complementary sequence. In the JRC-CWG, the traditional unimodular communications waveforms, such as the binary phase shift keying (BPSK) waveform, are used to perform the communications function. The sum of the autocorrelation function (SACF) of JRC-CWG is optimized to minimize the sidelobe level. Furthermore, considering that the JRC-CWG has poor Doppler resilience, a Doppler-resilient joint radar and communications complementary waveform (DR-JRC-CWG) design method is proposed to improve the Doppler resilience. Finally, the simulation results show that the proposed JRC-CWG and DR-JRC-CWG have superior radar performances without the degradation in communications performance in terms of the bit error rate (BER).

Abstract:
The sacB and sacC genes encoding levansucrase and extracellular sucrase respectively were independently subcloned in pBluescript (high copy number) and in Z. mobilis-E. coli shuttle vector, pZA22 (low copy number). The expression of these genes were compared under identical background of E. coli and Z. mobilis host. The level of sacB gene expression in E. coli was almost ten fold less than the expression of sacC gene, irrespective of the growth medium or the host strain. In Z. mobilis the expression of sacB and sacC genes was shown to be subject to carbon source dependent regulation. The transcript of sacB and sacC was three fold higher in cells grown on sucrose than in cells grown on glucose/fructose. Northern blot analysis revealed that the transcript levels of sacC was approximately 2-3 times higher than that of sacB. These results suggested that the expression of sacC gene was more pronounced than sacB.

Abstract:
Abstract Suppressors of a temperature-sensitive mutation (act1-1) in the single actin gene of Saccharomyces cerevisiae were selected that had simultaneously acquired a cold-sensitive growth phenotype. Five genes, called SAC (suppressor of actin) were defined by complementation tests; both suppression and cold-sensitive phenotypes were recessive. Three of the genes (SAC1, SAC2 and SAC3) were subjected to extensive genetic and phenotypic analysis, including molecular cloning. Suppression was found to be allele-specific with respect to actin alleles. The sac mutants, even in ACT1+ genetic backgrounds, displayed phenotypes similar to those of actin mutants, notably aberrant organization of intracellular actin and deposition of chitin at the cell surface. These results are interpreted as being consistent with the idea that the SAC genes encode proteins that interact with actin, presumably as components or controllers of the assembly or stability of the yeast actin cytoskeleton. Two unexpected properties of the SAC1 gene were noted. Disruptions of the gene indicated that its function is essential only at temperatures below about 17 degrees and all sac1 alleles are inviable when combined with act1-2. These properties are interpreted in the context of the evolution of the actin cytoskeleton of yeast.

Abstract:
Objective.Serologically active clinically quiescent (SACQ) patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) remain clinically quiescent for prolonged periods despite anti-dsDNA antibodies and/or low complements, indicating the presence of immune complexes. The immune mechanisms leading to this quiescence are unknown. However, in addition to activating complement, immune complex uptake by various cells leads to the production of interferon (IFN)-α and other proinflammatory factors that are also involved in tissue damage. Here we investigate whether production of these factors is reduced in SACQ patients.Methods.The levels of 5 IFN-induced genes and 19 cyto/chemokines were measured in SACQ patients and were compared with those in serologically and clinically active (SACA) and serologically and clinically quiescent (SQCQ) patients. SACQ and SQCQ were defined as ≥ 2 years without clinical activity, with/without persistent serologic activity, respectively, and off corticosteroids/immunosuppressives. SACA was defined as disease activity compelling immunosuppression. Levels of OAS1, IFIT1, MX1, LY6E, and ISG15 were measured by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and a composite score (IFN-5) derived from this. Plasma cyto/chemokines were measured by Luminex assay. Nonparametric univariate and logistic regression analyses were conducted.Results.There were no differences in gene expression or cyto/chemokine levels between SACQ and SQCQ patients. The SACQ IFN-5 score was significantly lower than that of SACA (p = 0.003) and was driven by SACQ status, not by autoantibody profile or disease duration. Levels of granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor, interleukin (IL) 6, IL-10, IFN-γ-inducible protein 10, monocyte chemoattractant protein 1, and tumor necrosis factor-α were significantly lower in SACQ than SACA.Conclusion.The levels of proinflammatory factors in SACQ mirror those of SQCQ patients, indicating reduced production of these factors despite the presence of immune complexes.

Abstract:
We have determined the nucleotide sequence of the carboxy-terminal portion of an actin gene (PAc1-A) isolated from Pinuscontorta var. latifolia (Engelm.). Pairwise comparisons of both nucleotide and deduced amino acid sequences were made among PAc1-A, the soybean actins SAc3 and SAc1, maize actin MAc1, chicken β-actin, and yeast β-actin. Of the other actins SAc3 was most similar to the PAc1-A amino acid sequence (91.3% identity) and yeast actin the least similar (78.3% identity). The intron in PAc1-A is present at the same location as the third intron found in MAc1, SAc1, and SAc3 actin genes. This conservation of intron position is unusual when compared with nonplant actin genes.

ABSTRACT The divergently transcribed sacBK and sacARoperons, which are involved in the utilization of sucrose byLactococcus lactis NZ9800, were examined by transcriptional and gene inactivation studies. Northern analyses of RNA isolated from cells grown at the expense of different carbon sources revealed three sucrose-inducible transcripts: one of 3.2 kb containingsacB and sacK, a second of 3.4 kb containingsacA and sacR, and a third of 1.8 kb containing only sacR. The inactivation of the sacR gene by replacement recombination resulted in the constitutive transcription of the sacBK and sacAR operons in the presence of different carbon sources, indicating that SacR acts as a repressor of transcription.

Abstract:
Since the earthquakes in Northridge and Kobe in 1994 and 1995, respectively, many investigations have been carried out towards improving the strength and ductility of steel beam to column pre- and post-Northridge connections. In order to achieve these objectives, recent researches are mainly focused on three principles: reducing the beam section to improve the beam ductility, adding different kinds of slit damper to beam and column flanges to absorb and dissipate the input earthquake energy in the connection and strengthening the connection area using additional elements such as rib plates, cover plates, and flange plates to keep the plastic hinges away from the column face. This paper presents a reduced beam section approach via the introduction of multilongitudinal voids (MLV) in the beam web for various beam depths varying from 450 mm to 912 mm. ANSYS finite element program was used to simulate the three different sizes of SAC sections: SAC3, SAC5, and SAC7. Results showed an improvement in the connection ductility since the input energy was dissipated uniformly along the beam length and the total rotation of the connection was over four percent radian.

Abstract:
Background:Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) who achieved the clinical state as serologically active clinically quiescent (SACQ). It appears to account for 6–12% of all patients with SLE, but there is disagreement about whether such patients are indeed clinically stable [1-3], especially in Chinese patients. And there is no conclusion as to what kind of treatment should be taken for such patients. Objectives:To clarify the frequency and outcome of SACQ patients in lupus. And to identify factors associated with the flare of disease. Methods:Clinical data of patients diagnosed as SLE and followed in Peking University First Hospital from 2009 to 2015 were retrospectively reviewed. 682 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus who were followed up for more than 6 months at Peking University First Hospital from January 2007 to December 2015 were summarized. SACQ was defined as an at least a 6-month period with persistent serologic activity and without clinical activity and could be taking a daily dose of prednisone or equivalent less than 7.5 mg. Serologically quiescent clinically quiescent (SQCQ) patients and serologically active clinically active (SACA) patients served as control groups. Data including demographics, initial symptoms, duration to SACQ, treatments before and after SACQ, and characteristics of the flare group were analyzed. Results:Of the 682 patients, 170 were SACQ patients (24.9%), 187 were SQCQ patients, and 325 were SACA patients (47.7%). SQCQ patients (38.61±15.08 years old) were older at study start than SACQ patients (38.61±15.08 years vs. 32.09±14.35 years, p<0.001), but there was no significant difference between that of SACQ and SACA patients. 56 of the 170 SACQ patients (32.9%) experienced flare. Corticosteroids (OR 1.317, 95% CI 1.131 to 1.534; p<0.001) was an independent risk factor for flare, while antimalarials (OR 0.265, 95% CI 0.118 to 0.599; p=0.001) and immunosuppressants (OR 0.316, 95% CI 0.149 to 0.670; p=0.003) were protective factors. Conclusion:About one third of SLE patients with SACQ experience flare, more than that of patients with SQCQ. Thus, approach to prevent relapse in SACQ patient is required. Maintenance therapy of hydroxychloroquine and immunosuppressant agents may be protective and beneficial treatment strategy in these patients need further investigation.References:[1]Gladman DD, Urowitz MB, Keystone EC. Abstract:
It is well established that the spatial- and temporal-restricted generation and turnover of phosphoinositides (PIs) by a cascade of PI-metabolizing enzymes is a key regulatory mechanism in the endocytic pathway. Here, we demonstrate that the Sac1 domain–containing protein Sac2 is a PI 4-phosphatase that specifically hydrolyzes phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate in vitro. We further show that Sac2 colocalizes with early endosomal markers and is recruited to transferrin (Tfn)-containing vesicles during endocytic recycling. Exogenous expression of the catalytically inactive mutant Sac2C458S resulted in altered cellular distribution of Tfn receptors and delayed Tfn recycling. Furthermore, genomic ablation of Sac2 caused a similar perturbation on Tfn and integrin recycling as well as defects in cell migration. Structural characterization of Sac2 revealed a unique pleckstrin-like homology Sac2 domain conserved in all Sac2 orthologues. Collectively, our findings provide evidence for the tight regulation of PIs by Sac2 in the endocytic recycling pathway.

ABSTRACT The N-terminal repeat (SAC1) of the S-protein of Lactobacillus acidophilus bound efficiently and specifically to cell wall fragments (CWFs) when fused to green fluorescent protein, whereas the C-terminal repeat (SAC2) did not. Treatment of CWFs with hydrofluoric acid, but not phenol, prevented binding. Apparently, SAC1 is necessary and sufficient for cell wall binding. Our data suggest that SAC anchors the S-protein to a cell wall teichoic acid.

Abstract:
Sac1 is a phosphoinositide phosphatase of the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus that controls organelle membrane composition principally via regulation of phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate signaling. We present a characterization of the structure of the N-terminal portion of yeast Sac1, containing the conserved Sac1 homology domain, in complex with Vps74, a phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase effector and the orthologue of human GOLPH3. The interface involves the N-terminal subdomain of the Sac1 homology domain, within which mutations in the related Sac3/Fig4 phosphatase have been linked to Charcot–Marie–Tooth disorder CMT4J and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Disruption of the Sac1–Vps74 interface results in a broader distribution of phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate within the Golgi apparatus and failure to maintain residence of a medial Golgi mannosyltransferase. The analysis prompts a revision of the membrane-docking mechanism for GOLPH3 family proteins and reveals how an effector of phosphoinositide signaling serves a dual function in signal termination.

Abstract:
Religion descends on the will of God, but understanding and trying to realize religion is up to the object of religion itself, namely human beings. It was at this point that the science of religion was born, which was entirely human and dependent on the mastery of human knowledge. Religion is sacred, holy and perfect, but understanding religion is human, imperfect and worldly. The constant is religion itself (al-diin nafsuh), while the knowledge or understanding of religion (al-ma'rifah al-diniyyah) is temporal and will change. Context is often overlooked by a system of understanding that is brutally adhered to by Islamic reasoning now, so to return the text to something sacf li kulli zaman wan there needs to be a problematic review and 're-reading' to get 'new understanding' of modern Islam. Ushul Juris prudence which is a reaction/ response to the problem of the system as well as the doctrine of 'dirty' politics and disputes of ahl-Ra'yi and ahl-Hadīst about the meaning of texts in the modern era is required to be able to provide solutions to stagnation of Islamic law. Ushul Jurisprudence is not only as a ‘device’ reader of the text of the Qur'an and al-Sunnah but also acts as ‘bidder’ for a new understanding situation. However, the condition of the Ushul Fikih reading room as a level of Islamic religious law has limited methodology so that it cannot cover all aspects of understanding. This is where the author feels the need to bring up the offer and continuation of reconstruction related to the understanding of religion, especially the reconstruction of the Islamic Jurisprudence, so that the plurality of understanding of the sacred Islam will not only be a brutal understanding (madzhabi taqlidi) but the embodiment of methodology in understanding religion is really real.

Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the effect of different preservative solutions on maintaining postharvest quality of red roses cultivar ‘Carola’. The treatments evaluated in both experiments were five preservative solutions: (S) sucrose (1%) (SAC) sucrose (1%) + citric acid (0.2 g L-1), (SACH) sucrose (1 %) + citric acid (0.2 g L-1) + sodium hypochlorite (1%) (SACA) sucrose (1%) + citric acid (0.2 g L-1) + rosemary oil (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) (100 uL L-1), (SACG) sucrose (1%) + citric acid (0.2 g L-1) + Oil Ginger (Zingiber officinale) (100 uL L-1). In the first experiment the rods were maintained for 10 days in refrigerator at 3 ± 1 °C and in the second experiment were maintained for five days in refrigerator (3 ± 1 °C) and five days at ambient conditions (19 ± 1 °C) . The variables evaluated were swelling, curvature of the floral stalk, browning petals, floral opening and colored petals, in both experiments, and coloring of the petals in the second experiment. The evaluations were performed every two days during the storage period in experiment 1, and daily during the shelf period in experiment 2. The experimental design in both experiments was a randomized complete block design with four replications and two branches each. In the first experiment, the use of sucrose was shown to be as effective as the other preservative solutions, preserving the roses up to 10 days in cold storage at 3 ± 1° C. In the second experiment, for the solution containing sucrose alone, the use of sodium hypochlorite, rosemary oil, and ginger oil showed the best results in maintaining the quality of the rods, and essential oils gave better preservation of roses.

Abstract:
Parallel to the development of new lead-free solders, electronic packaging has gone through a considerable evolution. A redistribution of layers allows the increase of functionality by increasing the number of inputs/outputsin the packagewhile reducing the size. The reliability of the package is strongly influenced by the reliability of the interconnects. During production and service life, there are thermal processes involved that may lead to thermal fatigue. In this work, a two-dimensional finite elementmodel of a Fan-Out Wafer Level Packaging (FO-WLP) was built, and simulations of thermal test cycles were carried out varying the solder interconnect material: SAC305, SACQ, SACR, orInnoLot. A thermal oscillating load from –40°C to 125°C was applied to the packaging for three hours.State of the art concerning solder joint reliability models based on creep behavior reveals the benefit of using energy-based parameters, as cycles to failure are inversely proportional to the average creep strain energy density.Based on theaverage creep strain energy density simulation results, the reliability of the package withdifferent solderswas compared. The qualitative results suggestthat SACQ has a significant advantage in the operational lifetime compared toSACR, InnoLot, and SAC305.

Abstract:
In 2015-16, a Peer Assisted Study Support (PASS) scheme was introduced in Mathematics at the University of Nottingham. This PASS scheme is intimately linked to the University’s Nottingham Advantage Award (NAA) scheme, which recognises a wide range of students’ extracurricular activities, including serving as a PASS Leader. Furthermore, the PASS scheme has been developed in conjunction with the NAA’s Students as Change Agents and Change Leaders (SACA and SACL) programmes, which recognise student-staff partnerships that change teaching and learning practice. Essential to the success of the scheme has been its genesis through a student-staff partnership, in particular two summer internships in 2015 to develop PASS materials, supported by the Sigma Network and the University’s Teaching Transformation Programme.

Abstract:
Basing on textual, palaeographic, codicological and historic evidence, this paper firstly examines the history of the Platonic manuscript Escur. Ψ I 1 since its making in Corfu by Demetrios Triboles in 1461-62 till its purchase by Antonio Agustín in the middle of the 16th century. The textual sources of this codex and the copying process are also analysed. The conclusion reached through the examination of inventories in the Vatican Library is that the manuscript belonged to that library till the Sack of Rome in 1527. Secondly, this paper proves that another Platonic codex kept in El Escorial, Escur. y I 13, comes as well from the Vatican Library, from where it disappeared on the occasion of the Sack, and was later purchased by Juan Páez de Castro. Additionally, an attempt is made to prove that both Escur. Ψ I 1 and Escur. y I 13 belonged to the Vatican Library as early as 1475.

"Characterising the nature of clinical incidents reported across a tertiary health service: a retrospective audit." Australian Health Review 45, no. 4 (2021): 447. http://dx.doi.org/10.1071/ah20271.

Abstract:
ObjectiveReducing the number of adverse patient safety incidents (PSIs) requires careful monitoring and active management processes. However, there is limited information about the association between hospital settings and the type of PSI. The aims of this study were to describe the severity, nature and characteristics of PSIs from an analysis of their incidence and to assess the relationships between the type of PSI and its setting. MethodsA retrospective audit of a clinical incident management system database was conducted for a tertiary health service in Australia with 620000 residents. Records of PSIs reported for patients between 1 July 2017 and 30 June 2018 with Safety Assessment Codes (SAC) of PSIs were extracted from the clinical incident management system and analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. PSIs involving paediatrics, mental health and primary care were excluded. ResultsIn all, 4385 eligible PSIs were analysed: 24 SAC1, 107 SAC2 and 4254 SAC3 incidents. Across reported PSIs, the most common incidents related to skin injury (28.6%), medication (23.2%), falls (19.9%) and clinical process (8.5%). Falls were reported significantly more often in the medical division (χ2=43.85, P<0.001), whereas skin injury incidents were reported significantly more often in the surgical division (χ2=22.56, P<0.001). ConclusionsA better understanding of the nature of PSIs and where they occur may lead to more targeted quality improvement strategies. What is known about this topic?Improving patient safety requires effective safety learning systems, which include incident reporting and management processes. Although incident reporting systems typically underestimate the incidence of iatrogenic harm, they do provide valuable opportunities to improve the future safety of health care. What does this paper add? This study reports the extent and severity of different types of PSIs that typically occur in a large tertiary hospital in Australia. The most common types of incidents are skin injury, falls, medication errors and clinical process. There are empirical associations between the type of PSI and clinical division (medical, surgical). What are the implications for practitioners?A greater understanding of the types of PSI and the settings in which they occur may inform the development of more targeted quality improvement strategies that potentially reduce their incidence.
