Abstract:
PurposeSynergy indicators and social network analysis (SNA), as practical tools, provide the possibility of explaining the pattern of scientific collaboration and visualization of network relations. Recognition of scientific capacities is the basis of synergy. The present study aims to measure and discover the synergistic networks of COVID-19’s top papers at the level of co-authorship, countries, journals, bibliographic couples and titles.Design/methodology/approachThe synergy indicator, co-authorship co-citation network analysis methods were applied. The research population comprises COVID-19’s top papers indexed in Essential Science Indicator and Web of Science Core Collection 2020 and 2021. Excel 2016, UCINET 6.528.0.0 2017, NetDraw, Ravar Matrix, VOSviewer version 1.6.14 and Python 3.9.5 were applied to analyze the data and visualize the networks.FindingsThe findings indicate that considering the three possible possibilities for authors, countries and journals, more redundancy and information are created and potential for further cooperation is observed. The synergy of scientific collaboration has revealed that “Wang, Y,” “USA” and “Science of the Total Environment” have the most effective capabilities and results. “Guan (2020b)” and “Zhou (2020)” are bibliographic couplings that have received the most citations. The keywords “CORONAVIRUS DISEASE 2019 (COVID-19)” were the most frequent in article titles.Originality/valueIn a circumstance that the world is suffering from a COVID-19 pandemic and all scientists are conducting various researches to discover vaccines, medicines and new treatment methods, scientometric studies, and analysis of social networks of COVID-19 publications to be able to specify the synergy rate and the scientific collaboration networks, are not only innovative and original but also of great importance and priority; SNA tools along with the synergy indicator is capable of visualizing the complicated and multifaceted pattern of scientific collaboration in COVID-19. As a result, analyses can help identify existing capacities and define a new space for using COVID-19 researchers’ capabilities.

Abstract:
The diversified top-k s-plex (DTKSP) search problem aims to find k maximal s-plexes that cover the maximum number of vertices with lower overlapping in a given graph. In this paper, we first formalize the diversified top-k s-plex search problem and prove the NP-hardness of it. Second, we proposed a local search algorithm for solving the diversified top-k s-plex search problem based on some novel ideas. Experiments on real-world massive graphs show the effectiveness of our algorithm.

Abstract:
This paper summarizes top quark cross-section measurements at the Tevatron and the LHC. Top quark pair production cross-sections have been measured in all decay modes by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations at the LHC and by the CDF and D0 collaborations at the Tevatron. Single top quark production has been observed at both the Tevatron and the LHC. The t-channel and associated Wt production modes have been observed at the LHC and evidence for s-channel production has been reported by the Tevatron collaborations.

Abstract:
A laboratory bench-top and a continuous prototype for measurement of lipoxygenase activity was developed. Lipoxygenase activity determination was based on the measurement of the rate of oxygen consumption by the enzyme using a polarographic sensor for the bench-top prototype and fibre optic sensors for the continuous prototype. The bench-top and the continuous sensors were compared against the standard spectrophotometric method. The range of LOX activity according to the spectrophotometric assay was from 0 to 0.163 μmol/L s. Accuracy and precision were 0.009 and 0.005 μmol/L s respectively for the bench top prototype and 0.007 and 0.006 μmol/L s for the on-line prototype. Correlation coefficients ( R2) were 0.99 for both prototypes with respect to the spectrophotometric method.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTChange in the light-induced minority carrier effective lifetime τeff of crystalline silicon caused by rapid laser heating is reported. The top surface of n- and p-type silicon substrates with thicknesses of 520 μm coated with thermally grown SiO2 layers were heated by a 940 nm semiconductor laser for 4 ms. τeff was measured by a method of microwave absorption caused by carriers induced by 620 nm light illumination at 1.5 mW/cm2. τeff for light illumination of the top surfaces was decreased to 1.0x10-5 and 4.8x10-6 s by laser heating at 5.0x104 W/cm2 for n- and ptype 520-μm-thick silicon substrates, respectively. The decrease in τeff resulted from the generation of defect states associated with the carrier recombination velocity at the top surface region, Stop. Laser heating increased Stop to 6000 and 10000 cm/s for n- and p-type silicon samples, respectively. Heat treatment at 400oC for 4h markedly decreased Stop to 21 and 120 cm/s, respectively, for n- and p-type silicon samples heated at 5.0x104 W/cm2. Laser heating at 4.0x104 W/cm2 for 4 ms was also applied to samples treated with Ar plasma irradiation at 50 W for 60 s, which decreased τeff (top) to 2.0x10-5 s and 3.9x10-6 s for n- and p-type silicon samples, respectively. Laser heating successfully increased τeff (top) to 2.8x10-3 and 4.1x10-4 s for n- and p-type samples, respectively. Laser irradiation at 4x104 W/cm2played a role of curing recombination defect sites.

Abstract:
A field experiment was carried out in order to study the relative efficacy of different sources of sulphur in kharif rice (Cv. Swarna Sub 1) under mid-central table land zone of Odisha. It was carried out in RBD with 10 treatments and 3 replications. Four different sources of sulphur (Single Super Phosphate, Calcium Sulphate, Elemental S0 and Navaratna as (20-20-0-13) were used with two methods of application as basal & top dressing to rice crop during Kharif season. The treatment details consists as T1 = Control (No Sulphur), T2 = Basal application (B.A) of 30 kg S ha-1 through Calcium Sulphate (CaSO4), T3 = Basal application of 30 kg S ha-1 through Elemental S ( ES ) , T4 = Basal application of 30 kg S ha-1 (through SSP) , T5 = Basal application of 30 kg S ha-1 (through 20-20-0-13) , T6 = Twice application of 15 kg S ha-1 as basal and top dressing through CaSO4, T7= Twice application of 15 kg S ha-1 as Basal application & top dressing through ES , T8 = Twice application of 15 kg S ha-1 through SSP each at Basal application & top dressing, T9 = Twice application of 15 kg S ha-1 as Basal application and top dressing through (20-20-0-13) & T10 = Basal application of 30 kg S ha-1 through CaSO4 and SSP @1:1 ratio . Significantly highest pooled mean grain yield (5.41 t ha-1) and straw yield of (5.62 t ha-1) were recorded with T7, whereas the lowest values were recorded with (control) T1 (4.1 t ha-1 & 4.31 t ha-1 respectively). Among different sources of sulphur, the grain yield of rice varied significantly and it followed the trend as Elemental Sulphur (ES) > CaSO4 > SSP > (20-20-0-13). Spilt application of sulphur fertilizer showed a beneficial effect on S uptake and translocation of micronutrients like Fe, Mn, and Zn. The sulphur economic yield efficiency ratio also inversely varied with S applications.

Abstract:
In this study we draw on a series of in-depth interviews with chief executives of some of South Africa’s most prominent businesses, to investigate how their careers unfolded as they rose to the top of their organisations.Twenty-seven CEOs of South Africa’s top companies were interviewed. Eleven of these companies are listed among the top 50 South African companies. We trace the evolution of leadership, from its embryonic beginnings in childhood and adolescence, through the different stages of a developing career to the crucial transformation of an operational mindset into a strategic one.We examine the circumstances that led to these CEOs being appointed and describe the difficulties of transitioning from a senior management role into that of chief executive. We look at the competencies and experience necessary to be effective as the leader of an organisation, as well as the role played by motivation and self-belief. Finally, we identify the unique leadership challenges faced by chief executives in South Africa and pass on their advice to the country’s next generation of leaders.
