Abstract:

The knowledge of the underground structure is a very important parameter for site effects and the estimation of spatial variation of ground motion. In the present study the S-wave model is determined by recordings of ambient noise at a circular array. The method that is used is Spatial Autocorrelation Coefficient (S.P.A.C.)(Aki, 1957, 1965). Since it is the first time that the specific method is being applied in Greece is provided a detailed and critical description of the method. The S.P.A.C. method is based on the assumption that microtremor is a stationary random function. In case microtremor is stationary in time and space, then the spatial autocorrelation coefficient is calculated, from which phase velocities of surface waves are estimated and S-wave velocities are inverted. The S.P.A.C. method is applied to S5 position of EuroseisTest where the underground structure is well determined from other geophysical methods while it is considered as a suitable place for the validation of the method. The validation indicates that the S-wave velocity structure determined by recordings of ambient noise at circular arrays is a useful tool for site characterization.

Abstract:

The article deals with the essential problems of Sun-protection by means of newly offered type of solid combined Sun-protective devices (S.P.D.) in the conditions of hot and Sunny climate, which is typical for the States of Near-East region namely for Lebanon and Syria. The solid combined S.P.D., which are under discussion in the article presented have the geometrics, which follow the Sun path over the sky vault, thus having a non-traditional curved outlines. It is stated, that they not only satisfy a sunprotection requirements efficiently, but also add an aesthetic qualities to the facades of buildings considered. In the article the calculations of geometrics for the S.P.D. in question for different orientation aspects of windows are given. These devices can improve the energy efficiency of the building.

Abstract:

W obrębie samodzielności finansowej jednostki samorządu terytorialnego (j.s.t.) ponosząc wydatki na zadania własne, korzystają z konstytucyjnej samodzielności wydatkowania. Nie jest ona nieograniczona i podlega nadzorowi regionalnych izb obrachunkowych. Nadzór ten sprawowany jest na podstawie kryterium legalności, a jakakolwiek ingerencja władcza w decyzję j.s.t. nastąpić może dopiero ex post. W szczególności nie jest dopuszczalna ingerencja w decyzje finansowe samorządu w sferze wydatkowania na etapie podejmowania tych decyzji. Wykonując zadania własne z zakresu ochrony zdrowia, j.s.t. opracowują, wdrażają i realizują samorządowe programy polityki zdrowotnej (s.p.p.z.). W procedurze opracowywania projektu s.p.p.z. podlega on opiniowaniu przez Prezesa Agencji Oceny Technologii Medycznych i Taryfikacji (nadzorowanego przez ministra właściwego do spraw zdrowia). Jednym ze stosowanych podczas tego opiniowania kryteriów jest kryterium skutków finansowych dla jednostek samorządu terytorialnego. Negatywna opinia uniemożliwia realizację samorządowego programu polityki zdrowotnej. Ponieważ opinia taka dokonywana jest ex ante, jej oparcie na kryterium skutków finansowych dla j.s.t. powoduje systemową niespójność z samodzielnością wydatkowania j.s.t., nadzorowaną jedynie ex post przez regionalną izbę obrachunkową. Dostrzegając ogólną zasadność uczestnictwa Prezesa AOTMiT w procedurze oceny samorządowych programów polityki zdrowotnej, w artykule sfomułowano wnioski de lege ferenda zmierzające do zniwelowania obserwowanej niekoherencji.

Let K be a compact connected Lie group and L a closed subgroup of K In [8] M. Lassalle proves that if K is semisimple and L is a symmetric subgroup of K then the holomorphy hull of any K-invariant domain in Kc/Lc contains K/L. In [1] there is a similar result if L contains a maximal torus of K. The main group theoretic ingredient there was the characterization of K/L as the unique totally real K-orbit in Kc/Lc. On the other hand, Patrizio and Wong construct in [9] special exhaustion functions on the complexification of symmetric spaces K/L of rank 1 and find that the minimum value of their exhaustions is always achieved on K/L. By a lemma of Harvey and Wells [6] one knows that the set where a strictly plurisubharmonic (briefly s.p.s.h) function achieves its minimum is totally real. There is a related result in [2, Lemma 1.3] which states that if φ is any differentiable function on a complex manifold M then the form ddcφ vanishes identically on any real submanifold N contained in the critical set of φ; in particular if φ is s.p.s.h then N must be totally real.

Abstract:

This study aims to analyze the effect of the fraud pentagon theory consisting of external pressure, effective monitoring, rationalization, capability, and arrogance on fraudulent financial reporting. This study uses the F-score model to see the potential for fraudulent financial reporting. The data used in this study are secondary data from the company's annual reports. The population of this research is state-owned companies listed on the IDX (Indonesia Stock Exchange) during 2015-2019. The sampling technique used purposive sampling so that the sample obtained is 180 samples. The analysis technique used is logistic regression analysis with S.P.S.S. versions 20.0. The findings show that external pressure and rationalization have a significant effect on fraudulent financial reporting. Meanwhile, effective monitoring, capability, and arrogance have no considerable impact on fraudulent financial reporting. The results of this study indicate the occurrence of fraudulent financial reporting in state-owned companies listed on the IDX if the related state-owned companies experience external pressure and have rationalizations to commit fraud.

THE SOCIETY for Promoting Christian Knowledge was established in 1698. From its inception, one of its aims was to combat the spread of Catholicism in Britain and elsewhere. At the end of the seventeenth century, the Counter-Reformation seemed to be enjoying great successes: as one of the Society's memorials noted, ‘the progress of Popery … by little and little ruins the Reformed Religion all over Europe’. This occurred, the memorial went on, because the Protestants had little regard for their own defence. The remedy was to form a ‘union of Protestants’, with a council to organize its correspondence among those of the reformed faith in all parts of the continent; and to put a stop the activity of Popish priests, though ‘without Persecution and violence’. A bulwark, it was argued, was unquestionably needed against so formidable and zealous a body as the Congregation de Propaganda Fide. The Crown was to be informed of these designs and the Society was soon given a watching brief on ‘the practices of priests to pervert His Majesty's subjects’.

Abstract:

Objetivo: Relacionar el nivel de conocimiento sobre los efectos nocivos de la radiación solar y fotoprotectores con las actitudes y medidas de fotoprotección en estudiantes de enfermería que realizan prácticas comunitarias en la Universidad Nacional San Luis Gonzaga de Ica durante el periodo agosto 2011 – setiembre 2012. Material y Métodos: El estudio fue de nivel aplicativo, tipo cuantitativo, método descriptivo correlacional de corte transversal, la muestra lo constituyeron 93 estudiantes que realizaron sus prácticas en la comunidad, la técnica fue la encuesta auto administrada con tres cuestionarios. Se utilizó como herramienta la estadística descriptiva y los analizadores chi cuadrado y la t estudent del paquete estadístico S.P.S.S. para un nivel de confianza del 95% y máximo error permisible del 5%. Resultados: Setenta de los estudiantes tiene suficiente nivel de conocimiento (75,27%); 65 (69,9%) tienen actitudes favorables para evitar los efectos nocivos de la radiación solar y 63 (67,74%) realizan prácticas adecuadas de fotoproteccion. Conclusiones: La prueba de hipótesis afirman relación estadística significativa (P<0,005) entre el nivel de conocimiento y las actitudes y prácticas de fotoprotección.

Abstract:

The handicraft sector in India, due to its rich history and promising growth has been attracting a large number of entrepreneurs in recent times. A significant portion of these are women who have quit their previous careers due to the allure of the handicrafts sector. This study makes a modest attempt to explore the reasons why women choose to switch their careers at various organizations in favor of becoming a handicraft entrepreneur. The methodology employed uses a structured questionnaire which was circulated among women entrepreneurs through mail survey. The data was collected from select 53 women entrepreneurs in India who managed small to medium sized enterprises and who met the criteria of having quit their previous jobs to pursue their current chosen career and it was analyzed through the statistical software S.P.S.S. The results reveal that most of the respondents were motivated to engage in an entrepreneurial career in handicrafts because it made sense, they regarded it as a personal achievement and for some of them it was because they wanted to challenge themselves.

ABSTRACT Objectives To evaluate the attitudes and perceptions of adults towards orthodontic treatment. To determine the motivating factor behind orthodontic treatment and the discomfort caused by fixed orthodontic appliances. Methods A cross sectional questionnaire based survey was conducted among 220 adult orthodontic patients from orthodontic outpatient visiting dental clinics. Ten items questionnaires were used to collect the data. Chi square test was applied by using S.P.S.S. software version 11. Results Maintaining oral hygiene with 41% emerged as a major perception towards orthodontic treatment, next problem faced is duration of treatment with 37.3% subjects reported. 86% subjects reported teeth as a major feature for facial aesthetics. Only 4.5 % of subjects reported orthodontic treatment expensive. There are 12% subjects feel that there is lack of information towards orthodontic treatment still prevailing. Conclusion The principal conclusion reported in present study is that people consider smile as a major factor for aesthetics. Reason for other patients not opting for ortho treatment is not because this being too expensive but lack of information. There has to be a special campaign towards educating school children towards treatment modalities present and what difference they can bring in someone's life.

Abstract:

Background: Surgical hand washing is the most important preliminary step towards an aseptic surgical approach while dealing the patients. The surgeons know the significance of asepsis, but still they fail to follow the steps of an ideal surgical scrubbing and hand washing technique. Aim: To assess the compliance of standard surgical practices of hand washing technique among young surgeons. Methods: A total of 30 surgical residents were assessed for the compliance of standard surgical practices of hand washing technique randomly. Interventions were made to improve the mistakes and malpractices and inporive the compliance rates of the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) criteria. Data was collected on a computer generated questionnaire. Data was analyzed using the S.P.S.S. 26 version. Results: Only 63% resident surgeons were compliant in following the standard hand washing technique. After intervention, the rates increased to 90.3%. The 30-35 years age group had the best compliance rates. Conclusion: Repeated audits, timely interventions and senior supervisison of the surgical residents regarding the surgical scrubbing and hand washing technique can reduce the malpractices to a minimum level. Este trabajo describe los resultados de una encuesta metalingüística completada por veinte costarricenses sobre el uso del pronombre de tratamiento (vos, tú o usted) en varios contextos sociales. En esta investigación, se ha valido del programa S.P.S.S. para cruzar las respuestas del uso pronominal con las variables sociales de género, estado civil, edad, ingresos, estudios y provincia de nacimiento. La forma de tratamiento no-marcada en todas las situaciones estudiadas es el pronombre usted, tanto en ámbitos de solidaridad (familiaridad, amistad y confianza) como en los de distanciamiento y de poder. Los encuestados indican el empleo del vos, siempre la forma marcada y de uso minoritario, en ciertas relaciones de confianza y amistad, por ejemplo, con miembros de la familia, amigos y, a veces, con compañeros de trabajo. La prueba chi-cuadrado de Pearson muestra una dependencia significativa entre el empleo del vos en contextos de confianza y las variables independientes de género y edad. El uso costarricense del vos no equivale ni al vos de otras regiones voseantes ni tampoco al tú. El tratamiento con tú, pronombre tradicionalmente ajeno al sistema costarricense, aparece con escasa frecuencia entre las respuestas.

Abstract:

Throughout the Irish cultural revival of the later nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Wales was held up as an example by some Irish nationalists of how a nation could revive its traditional culture and language. These writers told their audience of the heroic deeds of the Welsh in restoring their language to show Irish language revivalists that their task was not impossible. The Welsh example was studied by enthusiasts to see what steps were needed to improve the position of Irish. Organisations such as the Society for the Preservation of the Irish Language (S.P.I.L.) and the Gaelic League noted with envy the levels of literacy among Welsh speakers. Revivalists believed that literacy had prevented Welsh from disappearing, and they hoped to boost literacy rates in Irish to save that language. They noted how successful the eisteddfodau were in instilling pride among the Welsh people in their culture. Accordingly, members of the Gaelic League established the Oireachtas to encourage the people of Ireland to celebrate their own distinctive characteristics. Yet while the example of the Welsh language was regularly discussed, this did not reflect a deep understanding of linguistic developments in Wales.

Abstract:

The absence of a succession planning policy has a detrimental influence on the functioning of the organization. Organizational performance was assessed as part of a research on succession planning at Perfetti Ban Mettelle Nigeria Limited Agbara, Ogun State. The study used a descriptive survey design, with a population of 1,392 and a sample size of (135) determined using the Krejie and Morgan formula. Perfetti Ban Mettelle Nigeria Limited Agbara, Ogun State employees were given 135 questionnaires; of those, 91 were found to be usable by the researchers. For the purpose of determining whether mentoring and talent retention improves an organization's performance, three hypotheses were tested using the ordinary least square method, with S.P.S.S version 23. Organizational performance was found to be 3.1 percent, 1.1 percent, and 0.5 percent due to the findings of the study. A total of three hypotheses were presented. Organizational performance is positively influenced by all of the indicators of succession planning identified in the study, according to the research. It was suggested, among other things, that companies implement retention strategies or programs to encourage their best employees to dedicate themselves to the company's objectives.

The basic aim of this Act is to increase the school enrolment rate and to improve the quality of education. This research paper tries to explain the implications and impediments of the Right to Education Act (RTE) in the school education system in the tribal areas of Andhra Pradesh with the empirical evidence of primary and secondary schools located in Lammasingi village of Visakha agency, Andhra Pradesh. The paper provides both qualitative and quantitative explanations based on the empirical data collected by employing conventional Anthropological methods and techniques in addition to following the ethnographic methodological procedure in conducting in-depth and intensive fieldwork for a period of one year in the tribal village of Lammasingi. This research study work largely dwells upon the theoretical conceptual framework of “Anthropology of Education”. The data was collected from the head teachers, teachers, students, parents, and school management committee members by using semi-structured schedules. The data were analysed through a computer-based S.P.S.S package, explanations given in the paper are mostly analytical and descriptive in nature and comprise both semantic and scientific.

Abstract:

The study focused on the improvisation competencies possessed by junior secondary school social studies teachers in Rivers State. Ex-post facto research design was used for the study. The population was made up of all the social studies teachers in the 23 Local Government Area of Rivers State. The sample size of the study was one hundred and thirty five (135) social studies teachers selected through simple random sampling techniques (74 male and 61 female). The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire. The reliability of the instrument was determine through test-retest techniques and a reliability coefficient of 0.86 was attained, in analyzing the data collected, a statistical package of social science (S.P.S.S) for window version 15.0 was employed. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while independent t-test and one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study show that teacher’s qualification, gender an years of experience influences social teacher’s improvisation competencies. On the strength of the above findings, it was recommended among others that qualified teachers be employed to teach the subject, improvisation be made part of teacher education programme while government and stakeholders in education should create conducive atmosphere for social studies teachers.

Abstract:

Objective: Trigeminal neuralgia is the lancinating electric shock like pain because of neurovascular compression in trigeminal nerve distribution. We compared the efficacy of radiofrequency rhizotomy with microvascular decompression in terms of complete pain relief.Material and Methods: The randomized controlled trial study was conducted in the neurosurgery department, LGH Lahore for a period of one year June 2017 to June 2018. A total of 110 patients were included and distributed into two groups, i.e. group-I who underwent radiofrequency rhizotomy (RFR) and group-II who underwent microvascular decompression (MVD). Follow-up of all the patients was assured up to six months. All the data were analyzed using S.P.S.S Ver. 23.0.Results: There were 38 (34.6%) male and 72(65.4%) female. Mean age was 51.25 ± 8.80 years. At the end of six months, in Group-I (RFR), Nineteen (34.5%) patients were completely pain free, 25 (45.5%) patients had significant pain relief, 7 (12.7%) had mild improvement in the pain and 4 (7.3%) patients had no improvement in the pain. In group-II (MVD), 30 (54.5%) patients were completely pain free, 14 (25.5%) had significant pain relief, 9 (16.4%) had mild improvement and 2 (3.6%) had no improvement in their pain (Chi-square = 6.49, p = 0.090).Conclusion: Microvascular decompression had better results than a radiofrequency rhizotomy in patients presenting with trigeminal neuralgia regarding excellent pain relief and fewer complications.

Background: The type of wound closure plays a critical role in patients of perforation peritonitis, since many of these patients also have poorly controlled co-morbidities and risk factors for wound dehiscence. Though many studies have evaluated abdominal wound closures in the elective scenario, similar studies in the emergent scenario are rather scarce. Hence, we have dealt with this issue in patients presenting with hollow viscus perforation peritonitis.Methods: This was a prospective randomized case control single-centre study with 120 patients performed at St. Stephen’s Hospital, New Delhi, India between February 2016 and January 2019. These patients were randomized divided into two groups; group A comprising those patients in whom, the abdominal wound was closed with continuous sutures, and group B comprising those in whom it was closed with interrupted sutures. Informed consent was taken from all the patients. A detailed proforma included all parameters. Follow up was conducted at 2, 4, 6 and 12 weeks from the date of surgery. Data analysis was done using S.P.S.S. version 17.Results: The time taken for continuous suture fascial closure was significantly less than the interrupted technique. There were no significant differences in other parameters, immediately or on follow-up.Conclusions: The continuous method of abdominal closure was faster than interrupted suturing on account of the use of only two terminal knots, this difference being statistically significant. The outcomes were comparable to other studies that have dealt with this issue in elective surgeries.

Abstract:

One does not have to believe in free trade to recognize that in religion as well as economic life the erosion of a monopoly can provoke an uprush of private enterprise. It must be more than coincidental that two modern ‘church in danger’ crises which accompanied an erosion of Anglican hegemony - the Revolution of 1688 and the constitutional crises of 1828–32 – were followed by bursts of voluntary activity. Clusters of private societies were formed to fill up part of the space vacated by the state, as it withdrew itself further from active support of the establishment. After the Toleration Act perceptive churchmen felt even more acutely the realities of religious pluralism and competition. Anglicanism was now approaching what looked uncomfortably like a market situation; needing to be promoted; actively sold. Despite the political and social advantages still enjoyed by the Church, the confessional state in its plenitude of power had gone, and Anglican pre-eminence had to be preserved by other means. One means was through voluntary societies. The Society for the Reformation of Manners hoped by private prosecutions to exert some of the social controls once more properly exercised by the Church courts. The S.P.G. sought to encourage Anglican piety in the plantations and the S.P.C.K. to extend it at home by promoting charity schools and disseminating godly tracts. It was a task of voluntarism to reassert, as far as possible, what authority remained to a church which, because it could not effectively coerce, had to persuade.

Objetivo: Determinar las competencias de los internos de enfermería de la Universidad Nacional San Luis Gonzaga de Ica en la elaboración de tesis para optar el título profesional en enfermería. Material y Métodos: Estudio cuantitativo, tipo no experimental, corte transversal, descriptivo. Muestra con 84 internos de Enfermería de la Universidad Nacional San Luis Gonzaga de Ica. La recolección de datos fue la técnica de la encuesta y como instrumento el cuestionario donde se consideró: datos generales y relacionados a la investigación, distribuidos: Conocimiento sobre competencias cognitivas en la elaboración de tesis (20 ítems), actitudes hacia el desarrollo de la tesis (20 reactivos) y capacidad para elaborar proyecto de tesis (8 ítems). La información cuantitativa fue procesada en Excel, tabulada y organizada en tablas, Se utilizó como herramienta la estadística descriptiva y los analizadores Ji Cuadrada y T de Student, del paquete estadístico S.P.S.S. para un nivel confianza 95% y máximo error permisible de 5%. Resultados : El 76,25% (64 de internos de enfermería) , tienen conocimientos suficientes en la elaboración de tesis, 23% (20 internos) con conocimientos insuficientes; 83,7% (70 de los internos) tienen actitudes favorables para la elaboración de tesis, el 16,7 % (14 de ellos) tienen actitudes desfavorables y el 52,4% (44 de los internos) tienen desempeño favorable para elaborar perfiles de tesis; el 47,6% (40 internos) tiene desempeño no aceptable.

We conducted this study to observe if PaO2/FiO2 and the ratio of SPO2 /FiO2 can be used interchangeably, we can have option for lesser invasive parameter. Aim: To determine the correlation of PaO2/FiO2 with SPO2 /FiO2 ratio in children on mechanical ventilation. Methods: A Cross-sectional study, Non-probability and purposive sampling. The study conducted at The Children’s hospital and the Institute of Child Health, Lahore from 04-10-2017 to 03-06-2018. Informed consent was obtained. Arterial blood gas sampling for calculation of PaO2/FiO2 ratio and simultaneous recording of SPO2 for measurement of SPO2/FiO2 ratio was done. The data collected was analysed on S.P.S.S (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) version 22. Results: In this study 30 patients on mechanical ventilation were enrolled with mean age of 58.55±5 months. There was male predominance. (M: F ratio 2:1). This study showed a strong positive correlation of the PaO2/FiO2 with SPO2/FiO2 that is r=0.603. Conclusion: According to our study noninvasive SpO2/FiO2 ratio (PFr) can reliably be used in place of PaO2/FiO2 ratio(SFr) in children on mechanical ventilation as a strong correlation was observed between them. Depuis sa naissance en 1908, la Société de protection des plantes du Québec (SPPQ) a publié une gamme de documents d’une valeur historique et scientifique inestimable. À l’origine, la Société produisait des Rapport annuels. En plus des comptes rendus de l’assemblée annuelle, ces Rapport annuels comprenaient beaucoup d’articles de nature scientifique. Un total de 684 articles sont parus dans ces rapports, jusqu’au dernier en 1961. C’est alors qu’a été créée la revue Phytoprotection, un périodique à trois numéros par année. La première parution de Phytoprotection remonte à 1963 et marque la continuation des Rapports annuels. Avec les années, Phytoprotection a pris un virage presque exclusivement scientifique et a subi quelques réformes de présentation visuelle et de politique éditoriale. Comme les activités de la SPPQ concernent les ennemis des plantes, la Société en est venue à s’intéresser à la façon de nommer ceux-ci. C’est ainsi que des comités ont été formés pour élaborer des listes de noms des insectes ravageurs ainsi que des maladies des plantes. Les Noms des insectes au Canada ont été publiés en 1947, 1952, 1964, 1975, 1985 et 1986. Après l’édition de 1986, les droits de cet ouvrage ont été cédés à la Société d’entomologie du Canada. Les Noms des maladies des plantes au Canada sont parus en 1961, 1976, 1992, 1996 et 2003. Par ailleurs, pour mieux communiquer avec ses membres, la direction de la SPPQ a créé, en 1977, un organe de diffusion nommé Bulletin de nouvelles de la S.P.P.Q., devenu Échos phytosanitaires en 1982. Un total de 68 numéros sont parus de 1977 à 2000. Après une tentative de relance des Échos en 2006 sous forme électronique, on perçoit des signes positifs de renaissance pour 2009. Toute cette documentation cumulée sur 100 ans mériterait d’être revalorisée sous une forme permanente accessible à tous.

Objetivo: A presente investigação tem como principal objetivo verificar os efeitos da atividade física na composição corporal (índice de massa corporal e perímetro da cintura), nos valores espirométricos e relacionar esses indicadores com a função respiratória.Material e Métodos: A amostra, constituída por 86 indivíduos, alunos do ensino superior, com média de idade de 21,3 ± 2,4 anos, foi dividida em dois grupos: grupo de controlo constituído por 28 sujeitos sedentários (20,9 ± 1,3 anos), e grupo experimental constituído por 58 sujeitos (21,5 ± 2,8 anos) praticantes de exercício supervisionado. Para caraterizar a amostra quanto ao tipo de atividade física,aplicámos uma adaptação do questionário de Telama et al. Avaliaram-se os valores de espirometria (DEMI, VEF1 e CVF) com o espirómetro Microquark da Cosmed e os valores de índice de massa corporal e perímetro da cintura. Os dados obtidos foram tratados no S.P.S.S. 19.0, através do t-test, do teste de Levene, do teste Mann-Whitney e do teste de correlação de Spearman, adotando-se um nível de significância de 5%.Resultados: O grupo experimental obteve resultados significativamente melhores (p ≤ 0,05) nos valores de índice de massa corporal, do perímetro da cintura e em todos os valores avaliados pela espirometria (DEMI, VEF1 e CVF), comparativamente ao grupo de controlo. Verificámos também que há uma tendência para correlação negativa entre os valores da composição corporal e os valores espirométricos, apenas observável em algumas variáveis (DEMI, VEF1), ou seja, quanto maiores os valores da composição corporal, menores os valores espirométricos.Conclusão: Os alunos com prática de exercício supervisionado, apresentaram melhores índices de composição corporal e de função respiratória. Valores de índice de massa corporal e de perímetro da cintura desajustados poderão provocar disfunção respiratória, aonível da ventilação e respetivos volumes pulmonares, limitando a prática de atividade física e aumentando a apetência para patologias respiratórias.

Purpose: The study was an assessment of the role of communication in effective disbursement of Youth Enterprise Development Fund.Nyeri Town Constituency Youth Enterprise Scheme(C-YES) was used as a case study with a view to drawing generalizations on the effectiveness or otherwise of disbursement of funds to the youth from the National Youth Enterprise Development Fund kitty.Methodology: A descriptive survey research design was used. A questionnaire was used to collect data. A majority of the questions were closed ended and a few were open-ended. A population of 260 respondents was chosen, consisting of 200 youth groups and 60 CDAs. A sample size of 50% was chosen. The sample was 130 individuals divided into 100 youth groups and 30 CDAs. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The tool for analysis was S.P.S.S; a Windows based statistical Package for social science. Presentation of the findings was done in tabulated and graphical formats. Results: Findings indicate that that there are different preferred channels of communication for the youth’s groups and the community development assistants.Findings also indicate that the feedback mechanisms between youth groups and CDAs are not effective and this may have a bearing on the successful disbursement of youth funds. Findings indicated that the various communication gaps existed in youth groups as well as in CDA offices. Findings indicate that access and disbursement of youth enterprise development fund has not been successful. This might have been caused by poor communication channels used to deliver information about the availability of the funds.Policy recommendation: The study recommends that future studies on this area should focus on the communication audit of the communication mechanisms that are being used by CDAs and the youth. In addition, further studies should consider the determinants of effective communication. Such as study would address the gap left out in this study of determining whether group characteristics such as size of youth group, legal status of youth group, gender and education level of youth leaders influence communication effectiveness
