Abstract:
Background: The World Health Organization (WHO) has approved the use of two new drugs, namely Bedaquiline (Bdq) and Delamanid (Dlm), for treatment of Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (DR-TB). One of the concerns raised with the use of these drugs was QT-interval prolongation. This condition could be serious and life threatening. Hence, knowing the magnitude and its management is very important. This case series identifies the incidence and discusses the management of clinically significant QT-interval prolongation amongst a cohort of patients who have been on these medicines. Materials and Methods: Patients with reports of high grade QT-Interval prolongation (i.e. Grade-3 and Grade-4) were identified from the cohort of 265 patients enrolled on bedaquiline and/or delamanid and discussion is made on the pattern, severity and management of each cases identified. Results: Only 4 (1.5%) out of all 265 patients enrolled on Bedaquiline and/or Delamanid have developed high grade QT-Interval prolongation. And all are managed without permanent discontinuation of both drugs. Conclusion: The Incidence of clinically significant QTcF-interval prolongation among DR-TB patients taking bedaquiline and /or delamanid in Lesotho is low. And almost all cases can be managed with more frequent Electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring and management of other possible causes of QT-interval prolongation without the need to stop one or both drugs permanently.

Abstract:
For the last fifteen years, on-surface synthesis became an extremely popular and powerful method to fabricate nanostructures which otherwise would not have been accessible by conventional wet organic syntheses. The syntheses, realized in the chamber of high vacuum scanning tunneling microscope (STM), permitted the fabrication and the characterization of atomically defined nanostructures such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), graphene nanoribbons or 2D covalent networks.1 Among the organic molecules studied by STM, porphyrins are of particular importance because of their electronic and optical properties. Initial studies were mainly devoted to the supramolecular organization of porphyrins and porphyrin derivatives on surface and it is only in 2004 that noble metal surfaces were used as catalytic surface to perform reactions on the porphyrin cores.2 Since then, examples of open-shell porphyrin derivatives3 and conjugated oligomers4 were reported. While the synthesis of fused bis- and tetra-4,5-bis-(2,4,6-trimethylphenoxy)anthracen-9-yl porphyrins containing Ni(II) was reported by Anderson about 10 years ago,5 the formation π-extended porphyrin bearing unsubstituted anthracenyl moieties were never achieved. The formation of such compounds became possible by on-surface synthesis. Herein, we report on the synthesis of fused bis- and tetra-anthracenylporphyrin derivatives via the cyclodehydrogenation the parent meso-substituted molecules on a catalytic Au(111) surface.6 Depending on the annealing temperature, anthracenylporphyrins with the four anthracene fully linked to the porphyrin core or over-oxidized porphyrin in which the anthracene are connected two by two in 2-2’ position were observed by STM (Figure 1). Abstract:
Cathodic synthesis is a highly attractive technique for N,O bond reduction.[1] Especially, electro-reductions of nitro arenes enable the access to high-valuable products like nitrones and N-heterocycles.[2] These substances are in general unique structural motifs in natural products or in compounds with significant biological properties, such as antibiotic, antiplasmodial, antimycotic, antihypertensive, hyperglycemic and cytotoxic activities.[3] Commonly used synthesis methods require large amounts of metallic reducing agents, expensive transition metal catalysts, or hazardous oxidizers in case the corresponding heterocycles are accessible otherwise.[4] Several examples have been described with constant potential conditions using mercury or sacrificial lead electrodes.[5] Due to cathodic corrosion of heavy metals, this proves to be a critical aspect and mercury is banned in the most countries for technical applications.[6] Therefore, the urge for more sustainable processes is of high focus. We describe an access to 1H-1-hydroxyquninolin-4-ons by cathodic reaction of nitrobenzoyl acetones synthesized from broad available nitrobenzoic acids. Using metal-free BDD cathodes (boron-doped diamond), sulfuric acid as a simple supporting electrolyte, in addition to an aqueous electrolyte system with an environmentally benign co-solvent agree with sustainable and green aspects. The scalability under constant current conditions in an undivided cell has been shown in a twentyfold scale. The electrochemical synthesis protocol was applied to 18 examples including the antibiotic substance HQNO (1H-2-heptyl-1-hydroxy quinolin-4-ons) and various precursors for enzymatic aurachine synthesis.[7] Furthermore, we developed a method to a novel substance class of 4H-4-hydroxy-1,2,4-benzothiadiazine-1,1-dioxides. Reduction of the nitro precursors applying BDD cathodes result in hydroxylamines using divided cells with glass frits as separators. The applicability of this electro-reductive cyclisation is demonstrated by the synthesis of a broad product scope with activated, deactivated, labile and sterically demanding substitution patterns for potential further modification towards pharmaceutical applications.[8] Particularly, we described the synthesis of the N-Hydroxy analogues of diazoxide, a medication on the WHO list of essential medicines.[8,9] Studies on the biological activities of these new compounds are currently performed. Abstract:
BackgroundGliomas represent the most common brain tumors within the central nervous system, with glioblastoma being the most aggressive type.1 Conventional treatment combines several approaches including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.2 However, the prognosis for glioblastoma remains unfavorable, with only 5% of patients surviving more than 5 years post-diagnosis.3 Thus, new treatment approaches are urgently needed. Natural killer (NK) cells directly lyse malignantly transformed or virally infected cells and secrete inflammatory cytokines that polarize cytotoxic immunity. Allogeneic NK cell adoptive transfer has shown clinical benefit in patients with advanced cancer.4–7 However, limitations of this approach include relatively low numbers of donor NK cells that can be isolated during an apheresis and variability in the quality of NK cells between donors. To overcome these limitations, we have developed a GMP manufacturing strategy to mass produce NK cells from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) as an approach to off-the-shelf cancer immunotherapy. We refer to these cells as ‘iNK’ (iPSC-derived NK) cells. Here, we provide preclinical data demonstrating the efficacy of iNK cells for immunotherapy against glioblastoma.Abstract 155 Figure 1Engineered iNK cells exhibit highly effective antitumor function in a xenogeneic model of glioblastoma. (A) Schematic of the experimental design to test iNK cell function against glioblastoma in vivo. (B) Kaplan Meier plots showing survival for groups of mice that received either vehicle alone or iNK cells after tumor engraftment (n=5 mice/group)MethodsWe generated iNK cells using previously published methods.8–10 iNK cells were used as effectors against an array of patient-derived glioblastoma lines in 2-dimensional live imaging IncuCyte assays where iNK cell-mediated killing was observed over the course of 48 hours. To investigate iNK cell infiltration and cytotoxicity in a more physiological context that accounts for the 3-dimensional architecture of the tumor, we also performed live imaging IncuCyte assays using iNK cells as effectors against glioblastoma spheroids. To test the anti-tumor function of iNK cells in vivo, we implanted patient-derived glioblastoma cells into mice via intracranial injection. Seven days later, 5 mice received intratumoral injections of iNK cells, and 5 mice received vehicle alone (as a control; figure 1A). All mice were monitored for weight and survival over 100 days. Results iNK cells exhibited strong and sustained cytotoxicity against 6 primary patient-derived mesenchymal glioblastoma lines in 2-dimensional IncuCyte assays and complete infiltration and destruction of glioblastoma spheroids in 3-dimensional IncuCyte assays. In xenogeneic adoptive transfer experiments, all mice receiving intratumoral injections of iNK cells survived out to day 100, while all mice in the vehicle group became moribund and had to be sacrificed by day 60 (figure 1B).ConclusionsiNK cells are highly cytotoxic against glioblastoma cells, and our preclinical in vivo data provides proof-of-concept for future clinical trials.Ethics ApprovalThis project has been approved by the University of Minnesota IACUC. Abstract:
R e l e v a n c e . The healthcare management system requires high-quality and rational use of the organization’s workforce, i. e. the skills of employees. The intentional potential of an employee is a set of needs, motives, etc., the «core» of the personality driving it to achieve a meaningful goal. The N. V. Sklifosovsky Research Institute for Emergency Medicine is a leading multidisciplinary medical institution with an established multi-level system and management culture, the quantitative assessment of the intentional potential of which is of great interest. P u r p o s e : to study the intentional potential of the heads of clinical and scientific departments. M e t h o d s . An anonymous survey was conducted among the heads of the scientific and clinical departments of the N. V. Sklifosovsky Research Institute for Emergency Medicine (2021), including two methods of S. Schwartz: assessment by the level of normative ideals (SVS) and by individual priorities (PVQ). The procedures of centering and ranking by the average values of each valuemotivational type were carried out. Next, the value-intentional consistency (VIC) and the coefficient of value oppositions (Cvo) were investigated. F i n d i n g s . No statistically significant differences in the VIC at the SVS and PVQ levels, as well as no differences in the Cvo at the SVS level in the groups of heads of clinical and scientific departments were revealed. Intrapersonal contradictions between the value oppositions «Security» and «Stimulation» at the PVQ level (p<0.05) were revealed, they are less pronounced in the group of heads of scientific departments. There were also no statistically significant differences in the other oppositions of value orientations of the PVQ level. C o n c l u s i o n s . The presented results can be used as additional factors in the planning and implementation of measures of sociopsychological management of scientific and clinical departments. In the professional selection for the relevant positions, the Cvo indicator is more informative. Differences between the groups of scientific and clinical heads in the «Security – Stimulation» Cvo were shown, the distribution of this indicator tends to be more pronounced among the group of scientific heads.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT: Asia is the second region after Africa to have the tallest prevalence of stunting in the world. Indonesia is one of the countries in Southeast Asia with the fifth highest prevalence of stunting in the world at 37%, or nearly 9 million children who experience stunting. This study aims to examine the factors that influence and risk the occurrence of stunting in children in Indonesia. The research method uses a type of qualitative research with a traditional literature review. This study found that stunting is influenced by several complex factors not only at the individual level but also at the family and community levels. A comprehensive synthesis of the available evidence on the determinants of stunting in children in Indonesia outlines who is most vulnerable to stunting, which interventions are successful, and what new research is needed to fill knowledge gaps. Abstract:
Introduction Children with cancer are at an increased risk for various physical and cognitive challenges due to their illness and its treatment. A concerning observation is that young cancer patients often lead sedentary or even lying lifestyles, clearly failing to meet the WHO’s recommendation of 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (PA) daily. This is alarming considering that PA is essential for physical and mental health, e.g., for the development of motor skills and cognitive functions (Bull et al., 2020). However, PA promotion in acute care in Swiss pediatric oncology units is hardly existent. Therefore, the aim of this project is to develop and conduct a physical activity program in a pediatric oncology unit and investigate its effects on cognitive and motor performance. Methods Part A of this project involved a qualitative study conducted at the Inselspital Bern’s pediatric oncology unit, aiming to design a tailored PA therapy program. This part included patient interviews and staff surveys. Part B, which is ongoing, focuses on a forthcoming two-arm multicenter crossover-controlled trial. This trial will compare the exercise therapy and PA counseling (intervention group in Bern, n = 40) with standard treatment (control group in Basel, n = 40). Participants will be aged 6-18 years, newly diagnosed with cancer and undergoing cytotoxictreatment for at least six weeks. The 12-week program will consist of thrice-weekly, 45-minute sessions of individualized exercise, aligned with the SK2-guidelines, NAOK, and international Pediatric Oncology Exercise Guidelines (Götte et al., 2022; Wurz et al., 2021). The sessions will focus on motor skills and cognitively challenging PA. In addition, children will receive 4 exercise counseling sessions. To evaluate the study, there will be three measurement points (once at admission, after twelve weeks of intervention and one follow-up after six months). The outcome measures include motor and cognitive performance, physiological and psychosocial functioning. Results Initial findings from the qualitative study indicate a strong patient and staff interest in exercise therapy. The study also provided valuable insights for developing and implementing the intervention. Discussion/conclusion The results will reveal important insights relevant to research and practice. Adopting a research perspective, the results will shed light on the effects of PA on cognitive performance in acute cancer care. Adopting a more applied perspective, PA has been neglected in Swiss pediatric oncology units so far. Therefore, this study may contribute to proof the effectiveness of PA for childhood cancer patients and thus help implementing it in standard care in the long term. References Bull, F. Abstract:
ABSTRACTSalmonellagenomic island 1 (SGI1) contains a multidrug resistance region conferring the ampicillin-chloramphenicol-streptomycin-sulfamethoxazole-tetracycline resistance phenotype encoded byblaPSE-1,floR,aadA2,sul1, andtet(G). Its increasing spread via interbacterial transfer and the emergence of new variants are important public health concerns. We investigated the molecular properties of SGI1-carryingSalmonella entericaserovars selected from a European strain collection. A total of 38 strains belonging toS. entericaserovar Agona,S. entericaserovar Albany,S. entericaserovar Derby,S. entericaserovar Kentucky,S. entericaserovar Newport,S. entericaserovar Paratyphi B dT+, andS. entericaserovar Typhimurium, isolated between 2002 and 2006 in eight European countries from humans, animals, and food, were subjected to antimicrobial susceptibility testing, molecular typing methods (XbaI pulsed-field gel electrophoresis [PFGE], plasmid analysis, and multilocus variable-number tandem-repeat analysis [MLVA]), as well as detection of resistance and virulence determinants (PCR/sequencing and DNA microarray analysis). Typing experiments revealed wide heterogeneity inside the strain collection and even within serovars. PFGE analysis distinguished a total of 26 different patterns. In contrast, the characterization of the phenotypic and genotypic antimicrobial resistance revealed serovar-specific features. Apart from the classical SGI1 organization found in 61% of the strains, seven different variants were identified with antimicrobial resistance properties associated with SGI1-A (S. Derby), SGI1-C (S. Derby), SGI1-F (S. Albany), SGI1-L (S. Newport), SGI1-K (S. Kentucky), SGI1-M (S.Typhimurium), and, eventually, a novel variant similar to SGI1-C with additional gentamicin resistance encoded byaadB. Only minor serovar-specific differences among virulence patterns were detected. In conclusion, the SGI1 carriers exhibited pathogenetic backgrounds comparable to the ones published for susceptible isolates. However, because of their multidrug resistance, they may be more relevant in clinical settings.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT This study aimed to determine the factors that influence the level of income inequality in member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OC). The research period used was from 2012 to 2021, using the System Generalized Method of Moment (GMM) analysis tool. The variables used consist of the Gini ratio (proxy of income inequality), economic growth, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), inflation, the average length of schooling (human capital proxy), and corruption perception index (sharia proxy). The results showed that sharia, human, and inflation variables had a negative effect, while economic growth and FDI had a positive and significant effect on income inequality in OIC countries. These results show that in addition to economic factors and human capital, sharia elements cannot be released in overcoming income inequality in OIC countries. Sharia is a driving factor in a more even distribution of income. Keywords: Income Inequality, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), System Generalized Method of Moment (GMM), Sharia ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi tingkat ketimpangan pendapatan di negara anggota Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Abstract:
In this dissertation we present a large survey of problems concerning representation, modelling and manipulation of three dimensional objects. This work is described thanks to three applications using various geomatic objects. The manipulation activity is based on spatial reasoning which fs mainly geometric or topologic such as : - creation of new spatial. Facts thanks. To interpolation (as in our geological strata application), deduction of new -facts from either 6ncomplete or badly structured information. Spatial knowledge manipulation involves several problems. This in lights the multiple reasoning methods and shows how their unification in a Single reasoning model, which could be applied to several cases, is very difficult. As far as the development of spatial reasoning tolls is concerned, our work presents a contribution in the three following axes : control of the representation depending on the application types, - adaptation of the modelling of spatial objects, - manipulation and reasoning in different contexts. This has made us think that this dissertation we in light for each reasoning model, its specific characteristics, thanks to several problems which are taken from very different contexts

Abstract:
The lecture recital was given on April 18, 1977. The subject was Adaptation of Handel's Castrato Airs for Bass, and it included a discussion of conventions peculiar to Handelian opera seria, concerns regarding adaptation of Handel's castrato airs and a comparison of adaptation practices in eighteenth- and twentieth-century presentations of Handel's operas. Three coloratura castrato airs and two virtuoso bass airs were performed at the conclusion of the lecture. In addition to the lecture recital, one operatic role and three recitals of solo literature for voice, piano and chamber ensemble were publicly performed. These included the role of "Samuele" in A Masked Ball, by Verdi, performed in English on March 19, 1975 with the Opera Theatre of North Texas State University, a program presented on November 24, 1975,of solo literature for voice, piano, and chamber ensemble, including works by J. S. Bach, W. Mozart, M. Ravel and G. Finzi, a program consisting of a set of works by R. Schumann presented on June 27, 1985, and a program presented on October 28, 1985,of solo literature for voice, piano, and chamber ensemble, including works by A. Caldara, G. Handel, H. Wolf, H. This study proposes a measurement and assessment model for the construction productivity of freeway reconstruction project, according to on the previous studies of Thomas and the characteristics of the freeway reconstruction project. The model is used on the cases of the freeway No. 1 reconstruction projects and No. 2 new construction project in Taiwan to realize and compare their respective influence factors of the construction productivity. When the model evaluates the threshold construction productivity of the embankment in the cases, the estimate values for the reconstruction projects and the new construction project are 0.048~0.052 MH/ M 3 and 0.025 MH/ M 3 , respectively. In addition, the influence factors in the reconstruction projects and between the reconstruction projects and the new construction project are introduced, leading to the arrangement of improvement methods. The results based on this study can support the use of the model to various constructions to completely establish the threshold construction productivity in construction engineering for the further use of the cost analysis and construction management. The working content factor in the model, however, should be further studied in a future to obtain a better result.

Abstract:
AbstractIn this section, we study line operators in the 4d $$\mathcal {N}=2^*$$ N = 2 ∗ theories. A 4d $$\mathcal {N}=2$$ N = 2 theory of class $$\mathcal {S}$$ S arises from a compactification of 6d $$\mathcal {N}=(2, 0)$$ N = ( 2 , 0 ) theory on a once-punctured torus C. The spectrum of line operators in the theory depends on additional discrete data, a maximal isotropic lattice $$\textsf{L}\subset H^1(C,Z(G))$$ L ⊂ H 1 ( C , Z ( G ) ) where line operators must be invariant under the discrete group $$\textsf{L}$$ L . Therefore, we will show that a non-commutative algebra of line operators of a 4d $$\mathcal {N}=2^*$$ N = 2 ∗ theory on $$S^1\times \mathbb {R}\times _q \mathbb {R}^2$$ S 1 × R × q R 2 with the $$\Omega $$ Ω -background is the $$\textsf{L}$$ L -invariant subalgebra of spherical DAHA.

Abstract:
AbstractIn this chapter we aim to explore the role that the linguistic landscape (LL) can play in intercultural telecollaborative exchanges. Although research in the field of LL has gained worldwide interest over the last decade and some studies have analyzed its potential for foreign language learning (Cenoz J, Gorter D, Int Rev Appl Linguist Lang Teach 46(3):267–287, 2008; Gorter D, Cenoz J, Knowledge about language and linguistic landscape. In: Hornberger N (ed), Encyclopedia of language and education. Springer Science, Berlin, pp. 1–13, 2007; Dagenais D et al, Linguistic landscape and language awareness. In: Shohamy E, Gorter D (eds), Linguistic landscape: expanding the scenery. Routledge, New York, pp. 253–269, 2009; Gorter D, Ann Rev Appl Linguist 33:190–212, 2013; Malinowski D et al, Language teaching in the linguistic landscape: mobilizing pedagogy in public space. Springer, Berlin, 2020; Niedt G, Seals C (eds) Linguistic landscapes beyond the language classroom. Bloomsbury Academic, New York, 2020; Krompák E et al (eds) Linguistic landscapes and educational spaces. Multilingual Matters, Bristol, 2021; Solmaz O, Przymus S (eds) Linguistic landscapes in English language teaching: a pedagogical guidebook. Available from https://www.llineltproject.com/, 2021), works that analyze its impact for language and culture awareness in telecollaboration are still scarce (Vinagre M, Engaging with difference: integrating the linguistic landscape in virtual exchange. System 105:102750. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.system.2022.102750,2022).In order to explore these issues, we organized an exchange between undergraduate students of English at Autónoma University in Madrid (UAM) and undergraduate students of Spanish at Columbia University. Over the course of two and a half months the students worked together and discussed a series of topics relating to each other’s and their own cultures. As a final task they were required to take photos of shops, posters, announcements, and walls in their respective cities that showed how English was used in Madrid and how Spanish was used in New York. Findings suggest that attending to the LL as an activity within a telecollaborative exchange provides an ideal opportunity for learning about language diversity from an intercultural perspective. The project also provided evidence of its potential for the creation of a dialogic third space in which participants negotiated their cultural identities.

Abstract Special Lagrangian submanifolds (or SL m-folds for short) in C m, or in a Calabi–Yau m-fold or almost Calabi–Yau m-fold ( X, J, g, θ), are real m-dimensional submanifolds in C m or X calibrated by the real part Re θ of the holomorphic volume form θ. They were invented by Harvey and Lawson [151, III], who concentrated on SL m-folds in C m. For a long time, essentially the only nontrivial result on SL m-folds in Calabi– Yau m-folds was McLean ‘s beautiful theorem on the deformation theory of compact SL m-folds in 8.4.1 below.

Abstract:
While the opportunities offered by technology to people were very limited in the period before 2000, information technology, which is used as a universal means of progress today, has become an indispensable element of the globalizing world by making it easier to access scientific information. With the increasing level of digitalization, there has been a rapid transformation in technology and it has become extremely difficult to keep up with this transformation. In the 21st century, which is accepted as the digital age, the developments in technology have made human life easier on the one hand, and on the other hand have caused the society to become dependent on technology. In the century we have been living in, international economic organizations have rapidly adapted to the developments in technology and the transformation process and have effectively used the advantages provided by technology to themselves. It is seen that international organizations, especially after the Second World War, have taken on extremely important tasks in terms of shaping international markets. Especially in meeting the funding needs of the international market, international economic organizations play an important role. Along with globalization, some international financial institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have been significantly affected by recent rapid technological developments. In this context, thanks to the developments in technology, international financial institutions have had the opportunity to transfer the financial resources under their control to the countries or unions in need easily and quickly. Due to this importance, developments in technology are closely monitored by international economic organizations. With this study, it is aimed to examine the development of international economic organizations in the digitalization process and to evaluate the impact of digitalization on the success of international economic organizations by clarifying both positive and negative aspects by data analysis method

Abstract:
This study aimed to identify the challenges faced by the auditor in the context of the coronavirus pandemic and the mechanisms adopted to confront them, by answering the problem posed by what are the implications of the coronavirus pandemic on the auditing profession. To achieve this, the analytical descriptive approach was adopted in the study, and a set of results were reached, the most important of which is that the auditor faces many challenges in the exercise of his profession due to increased risks and uncertainty, which hinders the implementation of the examinations and difficulties in obtaining sufficient and appropriate evidence, due to the lack of laws and instructions regulating the profession in such crises, despite the issuance of several publications by international and local professional organizations, which help the auditors to adopt new mechanisms in the exercise of auditing to keep up with the current conditions caused by the pandemic

Abstract:
In the last twenty years, the territory that comprises the Vega Baja of the Segura River (Alicante province) has experienced a drastic change in terms of how space is occupied. This is observable in the introduction of new uses that modify the configuration patterns of traditional settlements. This paper presents a typology characterization and classification of the evolution of traditional rural settlements which includes new emerging patterns of urban settlements in the Vega Baja’s context. This process has significantly impacted the landscape and the environment, as well as affecting how the local population relates to their living environment. The alluvial territory of the Vega Baja of the Segura River has been historically developed as a result of the expansion of its functional network systems —water canals, pathways, and settlements— which enable the occupation and colonization of extensive areas of marshy land. The territorial organization of this study’s area, developed over the course of eleven centuries, remained relatively stable until the 1990’s. However, in the last twenty-five years, the local economy has undergone restructuring, producing a mind-shift among local communities and resulting in a meaningful loss of crop production surface to make way for town-planning developments. The geographical area of this study is characterized by its intensive irrigated agricultural pattern. It is one of the last remaining Huerta European landscapes identified in the Dobris Report. Therefore, a more comprehensive and integrated approach to preserve identity and local cultural values is required so as to propose a sustainable economic development framework.References Antrop, M. Abstract:
Abstract To clarify the heat and smoke propagation in multi-compartments under the spread of cable fire, a large-scale multi-compartment fire test (hereinafter the CFS-2 test) was performed by the Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté Nucléaire (IRSN) in France within the framework promoted by the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) in Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) program PRISME2 (OECD/NEA, 2017). In the CFS-2 test, two rooms of a large-scale facility were adopted and these rooms have an identical volume (120 m3) enclosed with fire walls and were connected by a doorway (0.8 m in width and 2.17 m in height). As a fire source, five-layer cable trays (tray length of 2.4m, tray width of 0.45m and separation distance between trays of 0.3 m) with a fire-retardant PVC cable (77 kg) were used and ignited by a propane gas burner. The power level of the propane gas burner was set to around 80 kW. Moreover, all rooms were mechanically ventilated, and the renewal rate was 15 times per hour (3600 m3/h). During the fire test, the mass loss rate of fuel, gas and soot mass concentration, gas temperature, and etc. were measured. The measured peak values of the HRR, the mass loss rate and gas temperature were about 800 kW, 58 g/s and greater than 600 °C, respectively (Zavaleta, 2017). As a fire model predicting fire characteristics in a compartment, a two-zone model, which divides the fire room into the hot smoke upper layer and lower layer consisting of cool fresh air, is widely used due to the advantages of the brevity of the calculation routine and the reliability of the calculation results. Among them, the BRI2 series, developed in Japan, is now reaching the current BRI2002 software (Wakamatsu, 2004) after several upgrades to improve the calculation precision. The Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry (CRIEPI) introduced the cable tray fire source model based on the FLASH-CAT (Flame Spread over Horizontal Cable Trays) developed by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) (McGrattan, 2012) into the zone code BRI2002. By comparing the numerical results with the experimental values measured during the CFS-2 test, the methodology for ignition time delay of each tray and horizontal flame propagation speed for each tray were discussed.

Blais-Stevens, A., A. Castagner, A. Grenier, and K D Brewer. Preliminary results from a subbottom profiling survey of Seton Lake, British Columbia. Natural Resources Canada/CMSS/Information Management, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.4095/332277.

Full text
Abstract:
Seton Lake is a freshwater fiord located in southwestern British Columbia, roughly 4 km west of Lillooet and 250 km north-northeast of Vancouver. Located in the Coast Mountains, it is an alpine lake about 22-km long and roughly 1-1.5 km wide. It is separated from nearby Anderson Lake, located to the west, by a large pre-historic rock avalanche deposit at Seton Portage. The lake stands at about 243 m above sea level and is up to about 150 m deep (BC gov., 1953). Water level is controlled by a hydroelectric dam (i.e., Seton dam) located at the eastern end of the lake. Here, the lake drains east into Seton Canal, a 5 km diversion of the flow of the Seton River, which begins at the Seton dam. The Seton Canal pushes water to the Seton Powerhouse, a hydroelectric generating station at the Fraser River, just south of the community of Sekw'el'was and confluence of the Seton River, which drains into the Fraser River at Lillooet. Seton Portage, Shalatlh, South Shalatlh, Tsal'alh (Shalath), Sekw'el'was (Cayoosh Creek), and T'it'q'et (Lillooet) are communities that surround the lake. Surrounded by mountainous terrain, the lake is flanked at mid-slope by glacial and colluvial sediments deposited during the last glacial and deglacial periods (Clague, 1989; Jakob, 2018). The bedrock consists mainly of mafic to ultramafic volcanic rocks with minor carbonate and argillite from the Carboniferous to Middle Jurassic periods (Journeay and Monger, 1994). As part of the Public Safety Geoscience Program at the Geological Survey of Canada (Natural Resources Canada), our goal is to provide baseline geoscience information to nearby communities, stakeholders and decision-makers. Our objective was to see what kind of sediments were deposited and specifically if we could identify underwater landslide deposits. Thus, we surveyed the lake using a Pinger SBP sub bottom profiler made by Knudsen Engineering Ltd., with dual 3.5 / 200 kHz transducers mounted to a small boat (see photo). This instrument transmits sound energy down through the water column that reflects off the lake bottom surface and underlying sediment layers. At the lake surface, the reflected sound energy is received by the profiler, recorded on a laptop computer, and integrated with GPS data. These data are processed to generate a two-dimensional image (or profile) showing the character of the lake bottom and underlying sediments along the route that the boat passed over. Our survey in 2022 recorded 98 profiles along Seton Lake. The red transect lines show the locations of the 20 profiles displayed on the poster. The types of sediments observed are mostly fine-grained glaciolacustrine sediments that are horizontally bedded with a subtle transition between glaciolacustrine to lacustrine (e.g., profiles A-A'; C-C'; F-F'; S-S'). Profile S-S' displays this transition zone. The glaciolacustrine sediments probably were deposited as the Cordilleran Ice Sheet retreated from the local area (~13,000-11,000 years ago; Clague, 2017) and the lacustrine sediments, after the ice receded to present-day conditions. Some of the parallel reflections are interrupted, suggesting abrupt sedimentation by deposits that are not horizontally bedded; these are interpreted as landslide deposits (see pink or blue deposits on profiles). The deposits that show disturbance in the sedimentation found within the horizontal beds are thought to be older landslides (e.g., blue arrows/deposits in profiles C-C'; E-E'; F-F'; G-G'; I-I'; J-J'; K-K'; N-N'; P-P'; Q-Q'; R-R'; T-T'; U-U'), but the ones that are found on top of the horizontally laminated sediments (red arrows/pink deposits), and close to the lake wall, are interpreted to be younger (e.g., profiles B-B'; C-C'; H-H'; K-K'; M-M'; O-O'; P-P'; Q-Q'). At the fan delta just west of Seton dam, where there was no acoustic signal penetration, it is interpreted that the delta failed and brought down coarser deposits at the bottom of the lake (e.g., profiles H-H'; M-M'; and perhaps K-K'). However, these could be glacial deposits, bedrock, or other coarser deposits. Some of the deposits that reflect poor penetration of the acoustic signal, below the glaciolacustrine sediments, could represent glacial deposits, old landslide deposits, or perhaps the presence of gas (orange arrows; e.g, B-B'; D-D'; J-J'; O-O', T-T'). The preliminary results from sub bottom profiling reveal that there are underwater landslides deposits of widely varying ages buried in the bottom of the lake. However, the exact timing of these is not known. Hence our preliminary survey gives an overview of the distribution of landslides where there seems to be a larger number of landslides recorded in the narrower eastern portion of the lake.
