Abstract:
A study on vegetative homeostasis in healthy pregnant women at the term of 30 40 weeks was held by the method of cardiointervalography. Availability of two types of vegetative response was found, which are likely variants of standard response. A conclusion was made, that processes of adaptation in physiologic pregnancy are accounted by the growth of the tonicity of sympato-adrenalic link, degree of activation of which depends on initial level of functioning of regulating systems.

Agawu, Kofi. "The Invention of African Rhythm." Journal of the American Musicological Society 48, no. 3 (1995): 380–95. http://dx.doi.org/10.2307/3519832.

Full text
Abstract:
"African ryhthm" was invented in the 1950s when, thanks to pioneering research by the Reverend A. M. Jones, Alan Merriam, Gilbert Rouget, Erich von Hornbostel, and John Blacking, among others, "African music" was construed as an essentially rhythmic phenomenon. Three decades and a sizable body of empirical research later, it is easy to see that an overriding ideology of difference (between "Africa" and the "West") motivated these early efforts. This essay reinvents "African rhythm" not by denying its own ideological construction but by engaging in an imaginary dialogue with earlier researchers in an effort to concretize that which was missing from their representations. In it, I develop a view of African rhythm in which its mechanical aspects (grouping, accents, periodicity) are shown to reside in broader patterns of temporal signification (movement, language and gesture). Although this is a less elegant proposition (in the mathematical sense), it is phenomenologically truer to the African experience. The latter, in turn, is not a mystified precolonial essence but the more "contaminated" and inherently contradictory condition of postcoloniality itself. "African music" in this construction is not synonymous with "African rhythm," although the latter's apparent complexity, explicitly thematized in earlier writings, reemerges against a richer conceptual background.

Kay, Robin Holding, and Jamie Edwards. "Examining the Use of Worked Example Video Podcasts in Middle School Mathematics Classrooms: A Formative Analysis / Étude sur l'utilisation de podcasts d’exemples pratiques dans des classes de mathématiques à l'école secondaire de premier cycle." Canadian Journal of Learning and Technology / La revue canadienne de l’apprentissage et de la technologie 38, no. 3 (November 12, 2012). http://dx.doi.org/10.21432/t2pk5z.

Abstract:
Video podcasts allow students to control when, where, and what they learn, as well as the pace of learning. Considerable research has been conducted in higher education on video podcasts use, but not in middle schools (grades six to eight). This study investigated the use of worked example video podcasts in mathematics classrooms with students 11 to 13 years old. One hundred thirty-six pupils individually watched video podcasts designed to teach basic mathematics concepts. Students were positive about the quality of worked example video podcasts and appreciated the step-by-step, easy to follow explanations, diagrams, and being able to control the pace of learning. Learning performance increased significantly after using worked example video podcasts. There were no gender or grade level differences in attitudes toward worked example video podcasts or learning performance.

Abstract:
Today's realities place strict demands on society and public authorities to increase the efficiency of state management in the field of national security and defense. One of the ways to improve the quality of management decisions is to involve in the system of public administration additional special organizational and technical complexes - situational centers. Before starting any work, it is advisable to study the experience of leading countries and national developments in this area. The article considers the national experience (in the period from 1962 to the present) on the creation of situational centers (crisis centers, information and analytical centers) and systems of scientific and mathematical support of their activities for the needs of individual enterprises, state executive bodies, legislature, and namely: the automated control system of the enterprise "Lviv", the system of operational display of flights of space objects "Rytm-2", creation of a situation room for the Ministry of Justice of the USSR, the situational center in the operational headquarters for the elimination of the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster, information management system for the eliminate the consequences of the earthquake in Armenia, the situation hall of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (“Rada-1”, “Rada-2”, “Rada-3” systems), the situation center under the President of Ukraine, the situation center of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the information-analytical (situational) center under the Cabinet Ministers of Ukraine, the Main Situational Center of Ukraine and the network of situational centers of central executive authorities. The list of the basic guiding documents of the state concerning construction of the corresponding situational centers, the basic executors of the carried-out works is covered. The main shortcomings in the creation of situational centers of the third class are formed, namely: elaboration of issues of forecasting the emergence of crisis situations and elaboration of options for action to prevent them are at an early stage; organizational-functional (organizational-staff) structures of situational centers are formed, as a rule, by an expert. Proposals for improving the construction of situational centers and the quality of management decisions in the field of national security and defense of Ukraine.
