Full textDuring the reign of Catherine II the Empire continues to develop its economic and social spheres and government system. Both the court nobility and the townspeople adopt Europen lifestyle, manners and fashion, learn foreign languages. In fact, clothes and hairstyles were only a small part of fashion for an 18th century person. Transformation of trends and tastes affected the language, customs, emotions and even illnesses. Fashion’s contribution to the development of social processes raises the question: what patterns affected the Russian culture, which was looking for new standards of behavior and ideal of appearence. That is why it is so important to include the history of Russian fashion in the history of European dress. Using comparative study methods I study fashion as a product of cross-cultural exchange, transfer of ideas. The first direction of my work includes studying the texts in English, French, German, which affected the formation of Russian style. The second direction is analysis of the terms "elegant", "beautiful", "attractive", "healthy" both in literature, and in everyday life. The third direction of my work is about the dynamics of fashion: invention of new devices, purchasing goods and, most importantly, spread of information about the changes

Full textOn a specific example of a French company having innovative technologies in the field of heating and water distribution, and realizing an expansion project to a new market, in this case, the Russian market, the author shows the importance of technologies when penetrating a market strongly different from the domestic one. Within the heating sector in the country where, because of a cold climate, the need to feel warm is a vital need, where the technological backwardness due to the historical phenomenon of the central residential heating monopoly is obvious, and where market is taking shape and competition is now growing, new technologies have without doubt a capital part to play. How should a company with such technologies approach the Russian market certainly very promising, but also fragile especially in this delicate period of the world economic crisis? What are the risks and the perspectives for the company? How to succeed in this market? How to enhance the value and to transfer new technological solutions? What advantages does this transfer bring to the company, but also to the company’s local partner, to the targeted region, and to the receiving country? These are questions the author asks himself. The role of new technologies is certainly beyond a sector or a field of activity: the new technologies brought by western companies undoubtedly accelerated, as Russia is concerned, the change from the Soviet-type economic system to a free-market system, known as the market economy

Full textThis study proposes to clarify the contribution of France during the first stage of development of the Imperial Gallery of Paintings, which gave birth to the State Hermitage Museum, in Saint Petersburg. It is during this period that the gallery of the Russian sovereigns, within a new palatial complex, is gathered, organized and housed immediately just next to the Winter Palace – the seat of power – in an establishment which is quickly given the – French – name, “Hermitage.”This study is divided in three parts. First, the study will present the contribution of France under Catherine the Great (1729-1762-1796), by examining both the construction of the Hermitage’s building and the formation of the collections. Secondly, we will delve into the reigns of Paul I (1754-1796-1801) and especially his son, Alexander the Great (1777-1801-1825), in order to determine how they managed this inheritance, by highlighting how these sovereigns used the ideas and artworks from France. Finally, the study will establish, how, at the end of this first stage of the evolution of the Hermitage, France stimulated the transformation of the Imperial Gallery into an institution whose trajectory arced towards becoming a museum
