Abstract:
Site-specific installations are created for specific locations and are usually intended as temporary artworks. The Perpetuation of Site-Specific Installation Artworks in Museums: Staging Contemporary Art shows that these artworks consist of more than a singular manifestation and that their lifespan is often extended. In this book, Tatja Scholte offers an in-depth account of the artistic production of the last forty years. With a wealth of case studies the author illuminates the diversity of site-specific art in both form and content, as well as in the conservation strategies applied. A conceptual framework is provided for scholars and museum professionals to better understand how site-specific installations gain new meanings during successive stages of their biographies and may become agents for change in professional routines.

Abstract:
Implementation strategies are methods or techniques that can be used to enhance the adoption, implementation, scale-up, and sustainment of evidence-based cancer control practices into routine care. This chapter defines implementation strategies, presents several taxonomies of implementation strategies that can be used to address multilevel implementation barriers, describes guidelines for reporting and specifying implementation strategies to ensure the efficient generation of knowledge and the replication of effective strategies in research and practice, briefly overviews the state of evidence for strategies, and suggests ways in which they can be carefully developed and applied to address the needs of specific contexts. The chapter concludes by presenting several research priorities related to implementation strategies.

Abstract:
To meet the expectations raised by the terms Industrie 4.0, Industrial Internet and Internet of Things, real innovations are necessary, which can be brought about by information processing systems working autonomously. Owing to their growing complexity and their embedding in complex environments, their design becomes increasingly critical. Thus, the topics addressed in this book span from verification and validation of safety-related control software and suitable hardware designed for verifiability to be deployed in embedded systems over approaches to suppress electromagnetic interferences to strategies for network routing based on centrality measures and continuous re-authentication in peer-to-peer networks. Methods of neural and evolutionary computing are employed to aid diagnosing retinopathy of prematurity, to invert matrices and to solve non-deterministic polynomial-time hard problems. In natural language processing, interface problems between humans and machines are solved with g...

Abstract:
This case study describes a cancer hospital’s experience with implementing symptom questionnaires into routine care delivery. Implementing symptom questionnaires (patient-reported outcome measures [PROs]) into cancer care delivery is a useful case study for implementation science because there is ample evidence for effectiveness in improving care but stalled implementation throughout most US health care systems. No “turnkey” PRO implementation strategies exist; thus, each clinic or health care system has to make many complex implementation decisions on its own. The Organizational Model of Innovation Implementation and the Theoretical Domains Framework are used to illustrate the implementation planning process and barriers and facilitators encountered.

Abstract:
This chapter introduces the ‘eventful sociology’ that characterizes the emergence of protest episodes in the four North African countries. Events are non-routine sequences of actions that reshape the routine forms of governance (and opposition) structuring everyday social and political life. Transformative events initiate a transformation of behaviors that is both strategic and reactive, and that reshapes social and political life first at the local level. This chapter qualifies the emergence of new causal processes and how they interact with preexisting practices of governance. The narrative places side by side the views and strategies of different pro- and anti-regime actors in the face of unexpected events and their consequences. The chapter outlines how sequences of events produced new practices, arenas and actors of contestations, often as unintended consequences of interactions. This event-centric account of protest episodes highlights the transformative role of protest in the construction of newly effective forms of political behaviors.

Abstract:
Substantial progress has been made in the fight against HIV/AIDS, and newer therapies are enabling individuals to live longer and healthier lives. Furthermore, the concept of treatment as prevention is now well solidified and has increased the urgency to identify and treat all HIV-infected individuals. As such, revised guidelines for HIV testing have shifted from a model of “targeted testing” to a more universal approach whereby all individuals have routine testing for HIV as part of medical care. Despite this approach, the number of incident HIV cases has remained stable in the United States. In addition to behavioral interventions and counseling, preventative strategies such as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) are being used to help protect at-risk individuals.

Abstract:
In this chapter we focus on how the therapist affects the effectiveness of psychotherapy. We approach this chapter as two researchers who are also practicing therapists and therefore are aware of common challenges regarding the research–practice gap. Our goals are to discuss specific implications of psychotherapy research and to highlight concrete steps for implementing therapist-focused quality improvement strategies in clinical settings. We begin with a discussion of why therapist variables have been neglected in psychotherapy research and review research evidence of therapist effects. We then discuss characteristics of effective therapists and ways in which individual therapists can improve their practice. Finally, we discuss the growing body of research on routine outcome monitoring (ROM) and the role both therapists and systems of care play in improving outcome.

Abstract:
This chapter considers how the prisoner copes with the ‘pains of imprisonment’. It suggests that coping in prison relies on practices that engage the prisoner’s body in a paradoxical manner. Coping, it is argued, entails acting for and against one’s own body. To demonstrate this, the chapter considers various coping strategies that, at the same time as they are self-distracting, are arguably also self-destructing or further generate emotional turmoil. Such self-harming strategies include prisoners’ attitudes towards eating, drug use, and often also their healthcare routines. Less harmful yet arguably equally isolating strategies are also considered in relation to practices of bodily care in prison.

Abstract:
The three broad areas of activity usually implied by psychosocial interventions in psychosis—psycho-education, behavioural family management, and cognitive behaviour therapy—are presented with their relative evidence base and strategies for delivering them through community outreach. Psychosocial interventions require a well-trained and resourced workforce, and the gap between best practice and routine delivery is manifest. Barriers and enablers are presented to show how this gap can be closed in a well-organized community outreach service.

classroom management (physical setup, movement between classes, and group activities) and classroom discipline (the creation of rules and the application of consequences). Disruptions obviously interfere with instruction, and effective teachers employ instructional delivery strategies to limit disruptions and maximize learning. These strategies include organizing the classroom, establishing various routines, managing teacher-student interactions, asking questions that encourage thoughtful responses, guiding student-focused work, keeping the students engaged in the learning process, and differentiated instruction—customizing teaching to meet diverse students’ needs. The principles of guided practice are explained.
