El presente trabajo se orientó al estudio de las rotondas, específicamente en la calibración del Modelo de Capacidad del “Highway Capacity Manual 2010” a las condiciones locales de la Provincia de Córdoba – Argentina. Para lograr tal fin se realizó una investigación bibliográfica y de campo de tipo descriptivo. El estudio fue efectuado en cuatro rotondas de la provincia a los fines de caracterizarlas. Se efectuaron varias filmaciones en horas de mayor tránsito, para extraer muestras representativas y calcular los parámetros de calibración del modelo. Estos parámetros son el intervalo crítico y el intervalo de seguimiento. En referencia a los procedimientos utilizados, se empleó el método de “Máxima Verosimilitud”, la “Regresión Lineal” y la Medición Directa para obtener los parámetros de calibración del modelo de capacidad del HCM2010. Se empleó el equipo portátil de recopilación manual de datos, el TDC Ultra de Jamar Technologies, para registrar en algunos períodos de tiempo, volúmenes de tránsito y comparar con las mediciones realizadas de manera tradicional. En el desarrollo del presente trabajo se observó que es posible adecuar el modelo de capacidad del HCM2010 mediante la consideración del comportamiento del conductor local dentro de los parámetros indicados. Se concluye que a través de una comparación con el modelo planteado por el HCM2010 y las mediciones hechas en otros países, los conductores locales presentan intervalos crítico y de seguimiento menores, lo que genera una capacidad mayor. Se plantean un conjunto de recomendaciones para futuros estudios o trabajos que contemplen la adecuación de modelos a condiciones particulares.
This research work is intended to study the roundabouts, specifically for the purposes of calibrating the Capacity Model from “Highway Capacity Manual 2010” to local conditions of the Córdoba Province, Argentina. During this research, both, bibliographical research and descriptive field work were used as methodologies to reach the declared goal. The field study was developed in four province’s roundabouts in order to be able to characterize them. At the same time, filming was made in rush hour traffic to obtain a representative sample and to estimate the calibration parameters. These specific parameters are the Critical Gap and the Follow-up Headway. Maximum Likelihood Method, Linear Regression and Direct Measurement were chosen as proceedings to obtain the calibration parameters of the capacity model from HCM2010. In the same way, by using the portable equipment for manual data gathering, Jamar Technologies ́s TDC Ultra, it was possible to register some traffic volumes and to compare with measurements performed with traditional procedures. During this research work, it was possible to appreciate that the Capacity Model from HCM2010 can be calibrated on the basis of the local driver behavior, in the context of the proposed parameters. Through comparison of the model proposed in HCM2010 and measurements made in others countries, this investigation allowed to reach the conclusion that local drivers have smaller critical and follow-up intervals, which generate a greater capacity. Finally, several recommendations are presented for those cases of studies and works including the adaptation of models to particular circumstances in the future.

Full textThe aim of the research was to study the Beata Vergine del Soccorso church, starting from its archive and from the anlysis of the accounting documents. In lack of the project's drawings, the goal was parsued throughout the realization of some digital reconstructions and the planning of a database, in which it was used the technique of markup. The ammount of data were useful to reconstruct the story of the two building sites (the one of the church anche the one of the bell tower), the original form of the church and to improve knoledge about the Renaissance buiding sites of the Veneto. Based on a project of Francesco Zamberlan, the octagonal church surrounded by a peristyle was built from 1594 to 1603, year in which its wood dome was completed; this was maybe the first single-shelled dome of the Serenissima Republic. However, in 1606, the cupola was demolished and replaced with a pitched roof. During time the church was modified several times, most of all in the twenties of the XVII century, when started the decoration of the inner space with statues and paintings, and at the beginning of the XVIII century, when the upper part of the central octagon was totally reshaped. In 1655 Baldassare Longhena designed the tower bell, which construction ended only in the eighties of the XIX century. To complete the study of the church was analized the context, the Polesine, in particular the city of Rovigo, that lived a phase of architectural renovation at the end of the XVI century. Investigate the patronage of the Rotonda underlined the collective dimension of this work: built as a sanctuary, from the 1612 the building became ufficially a civic temple. For this change and for the inside decorations the Rotonda is a real unicum in the panorama in the Veneto of the Renaissance period. The study about the church was supported by a detailed analysis of the architect of the church Francesco Zamberlan and of the reasons why he was chosed to plan the Rotonda. Often misunderstood by the critics, who believed he was a man of secondary importance, Zamberlan appears as an eclectic and complex figure, an architect capable of developing a personal language, dry and simple, suitable for containing building costs. Therefore not just a collaborator of Andrea Palladio, but an architect able to meet the needs of ambitious patrons, but withlimited economic resources. Models choosen for the Rotonda, like the Mausoleum of Diocletian in Split, prove that; they were wellknown in the territories dominated by Venice and functional for the creation of the city image under the sign of the Serenissima.

Full textThe research presents a new roundabout design called turbo roundabouts, these types of roundabouts are adopted, due to specific multi-lane roundabouts are related to problems such as the behavior of drivers at the entrance, circulatory lane and exit areas of the roundabout where the change and invasion of the lanes is observed without respect the lane divisions marks which generates greater speed. The turbo roundabouts to the comparison of compact roundabouts, the features operational and safety benefits, thanks to the fact that they have rail separators whose main function is restricted lane changes or bad driver jaws, reduce speed and conflict points . In the case of the study, the roundabout Monitor was chosen because of the traffic congestion that shows inefficiency in the operation of the roundabout and high traffic accident rate, so a physical and operational redesign is proposed through a turbo roundabout, where it is evaluated service levels, delays and security level through microsimulation using Vissim 9 software between the current roundabout and the proposed one. Finally, after making several runs to the program, it is concluded that the physical and operational replacement of the Huáscar Monitor roundabout, through the Rotor-type Turbo Roundabout, benefits users by improving the service level from F to C. This wants That is, delays and travel times are significantly reduced. In addition, improve road safety by reducing the number of conflict points.

Full textThis thesis proposes a solution to vehicular congestion through microsimulation with the Vissim v9 software of the Las Americas roundabout located opposite the Jorge Chavez International Airport. Microsimulation was performed using Wiedemann parameters, which were used in the calibration and validation of the model making it as close to reality considering the geometry of the study area and the Psychology of the drivers. In the first chapter you will find the problem of vehicular congestion in Peru and Lima, some background of similar studies, the hypothesis and the objectives of the investigation. In the second chapter the theoretical framework was developed that supports the criteria with which both the microsimulation model and the proposal for improvement have been developed. Here we can find the definition of the different types of models, the fundamentals of microsimulation (Wiedemann model) and the analysis that runs the Vissim v9 software is explained. The third chapter describes the methodology used from the collection of field data to the properly calibrated and validated microsimulation model. In the fourth chapter the results of the microsimulation are presented, which indicate the current service level of the roundabout is “F” and it was possible to improve up to one “D”, according to the HCM (2010). In the last chapter you will find the conclusions and recommendations reached in response to the general objective of this thesis.

Full textThis research is aimed at improving the service levels of a roundabout by optimizing its capacity, based on changes in the geometric design elements. In this sense, an analysis and evaluation of the “Higuereta” roundabout was carried out, which is located in the district of Santiago de Surco, in the city of Lima in Peru. For this, a compilation of theoretical bases was carried out at an international level to know the fundamentals of geometric design. Thus, based on a deterministic mathematical model from the United Kingdom, Kimber 1980, which associates geometric parameters with circulating flow and shows that any change in a geometric design element is directly proportional to capacity, we can conclude that there are improvements. in service levels as long as we make significant variations in geometry. In the present investigation, improvements from a service level “F” to a “D” were evidenced. On the other hand, the roundabout was modeled from a micro simulation software, PTV Vissim 9, with the aim of being able to reflect through simulations the real traffic behavior before and after introducing changes in the geometric parameters. It was concluded that there are improvements in service levels per access, from a “D” to a “C. Finally, to be certain that the model reflected reality, it was calibrated through adjustments in the driver's behavior parameters and validated from a statistical indicator.

Full textThis thesis study the traffic microsimulation of the current intersection of Santa Rosa and Morales Duárez avenues, where it is planned to build the new access to Jorge Chávez International Airport, in order to analize his vehicular behavior with projections of vehicle flow to 2032 taking on that there will build a roundabout and overpass. Chapter 1 of this report presents the formulation of the problem, the objectives and the approach of the hypothesis to validate the investigation. Chapter 2 contains everything related to the theoretical framework required for the development of this research, specifically everything related to microsimulation with Vissim software. Then, in Chapter 3, the methodology to carry out the research will be presented and the steps of the process to be followed to achieve the stated objectives are established, from obtaining field information from the field to the microscopic modeling of the intersection studied and subsequent evaluation with efficiency parameters. Chapter 4 presents the results obtained from the microsimulation with respect to the information entered. Finally, regarding the results, a proposal for improvement is presented and the conclusions and recommendations are presented.

Full textThe present research aims at broadening the interpretations of the tomb of Henri II and Catherine de’Medici, a piece attributed to both Francesco Primaticcio and Germain Pilon which is located in the Basilica of St Denis in Paris. This monument’s critical fortune has been strongly influenced by a panofskian viewpoint and has favored intellectual approaches, be they historicist or iconographic, which tend to cancel out the “médialité” inherent to what was supposed to be the monument’s original location, the Valois chapel, best known as the « rotonde des Valois ». This study therefore addresses this peculiar problematic by reformulating an approach conducive to developing methodological tools adequate to the sculptural medium. Furthermore, it proposes an interpretation linking the monument to its patron and instigator, Catherine de’Medici. The construction of a funeral chapel was a way to foster her identification to the antique queen Artemisa, as suggested in a book written by the queen’s apothecary, Nicolas Houel. Considering the hostility toward woman in power in France, the fable of Artemisia thus facilitated the regent’s persona construction. This thesis focuses more closely on how the image can translate such an operation. It also draws from recent critical reflections conducted around Aby Warburg, in art history and anthropology, and sets out the interpretation of the image within the scope of its figurability.
