Abstract:
Abstract The “Easter Triptych” project was conducted in six annual editions (except for 2020 and 2021 – the years of the Coronavirus Pandemic). It was conceived and achieved in the name and in the spirit of the three important moments in the history of our humanity: Birth, Passion and Joy of the Resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. This great religious cultural project was attended by important personalities of Iaşi and not only, such as lyrical artists from the Romanian National Opera Iaşi, church persons from the Metropolitan Church of Moldavia and Bukovina, university professors, ethnographers, craftsmen and students. We were joined by Radio Romania Cultural Bucharest, Radio Iasi, TV Iasi, Radio “Trinitas” and “Moldova” National Museum Complex Iasi. With this important project, I also went to Austria, Vienna, to the Romanian Cultural Center and to the Republic of Moldova, to “Alecu Russo” State University Balti. Each edition presented under its generous scope, equally traditions, customs and beliefs firmly established in our soul and conscience as Romanians. The events included moments of musical art: classical musical works (lyrical, instrumental, choral), Christmas carols, Easter songs, religious poems, book launches, exhibitions of decorated eggs from the Bukovina area, exhibitions of icons, crosses, carpets woven in monasteries, ceramic objects from Horezu, wooden sculpture objects and traditional folk costumes. In addition to these, there was a CD: “Easter Triptych”.

Abstract:
The medieval textiles collection of the National Museum of Art of Romania (MNAR) has been in place since 1865 and nowadays preserves about 1000 medieval and pre-modern weavings and embroideries. These extremely valuable objects, dated between the 14th and the 19th centuries, are mainly religious embroidered garments and veils with special significance in the Byzantine li-turgy. Ecclesiastical embroideries of Byzantine tradition are characterized by a complex technique: metallic threads with a silk core, metallic wires and coloured silk threads are couched over padding on layers of silk and cellulosic supports so as to create relief through light reflection. The silk sup-ports and the sewing threads are coloured, mainly in red, blue, green and yellow hues, and analytical investigations of the dyes used in embroideries preserved in the MNAR, in the Putna and Sucevița Monasteries, have been released in previous studies by the corresponding author. The present work continues the approach with research into dyes in about 25 aëres and epitaphioi from the MNAR collection. Considering their privileged function in the liturgical ritual, these luxurious pieces embroidered with silver, gilded silver or coloured silk threads and decorated with pearls, sequins or semi-precious stones are the most faithful description of the stylistic and technological evolution of the art of post-Byzantine embroidery in the Romanian provinces. The data resulting from the present research will improve the knowledge regarding this topic. Dye analysis was performed by liquid chromatography with diode array detection, while fibres were characterized by infrared spectroscopy (with attenuated total reflectance) and optical microscopy. The biological sources identified—carminic acid-based dyes, redwood, dyer’s broom, weld, indigo-based dyes––will be discussed in correspondence with their use in the embroidery technique: support, lining and embroidery threads, together with other sources previously reported on Byzantine embroideries in Romanian collections, and in similar objects preserved at Holy Mount Athos.

Abstract:
Accepted as part of the methodological structure of restoration, the reconstruction of the work of art, in its widest sense, from architecture to objects of mobile heritage, was legitimised either by the recovery of the memory of the destroyed heritage, or by the need of integrity of the image, with its many connotations. Also, the reconstruction has been assimilated, more or less abusively, with the act of fanciful reconstruction, of creative remaking or anastylosis. Stimulated today by the possibilities of endless, performant reconstitutions, by means of virtual space, reconstruction seems to get further and further away from one of the fundamental principles that governs the existence of heritage: the principle of authenticity understood as indestructible relationship between the image and the historicized matter in which it survived. This article analyses the dramatic destiny of the two monuments which were destroyed during the communist regime, the church of the Cotroceni Palace and the Văcărești monastic ensemble, in relation to the genesis of the concept of conservation-restoration of historical monuments in the Romanian space.

Abstract:
The traditional shirt (“ie”) is the most well-known element of Romanian anonymous textile art. Apart from aesthetic and utilitarian roles, it has strong symbolic significance, mainly through the colours used for decoration. Very recently, the traditional shirt with decoration over the shoulder (“ia cu altiță”) was introduced as a Romanian identity element as part of UNESCO heritage. Depending on the ethnographic area, the traditional shirt with decoration over the shoulder has acquired special expressive particularities over time. Particularly relevant is that from Valea Hârtibaciului, an area of Transylvania in the very centre of Romania. Although sober in appearance with large fields of white plain weave, it is discreetly decorated with elaborated embroidery on the sleeve bracelets, over the shoulders and neck. Even the colour range and decoration motifs remain unchanged in time, evolution in the materials used and a subtle transition from natural hues to more strident alternatives were observed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. For the present study, samples were taken from representative objects in the collections of the ASTRA Museum, Sibiu and Ethnographical Museum, Brasov, documented as belonging to the area of Valea Hârtibaciului and dated in the museum archives as from the late 19th and early 20th century. The textile materials and the dyes used in the shirts’ embroidery were monitored. Fibre identification was made by optical microscopy and infrared spectroscopy (FTIR-ATR). Dye analysis was performed by liquid chromatography coupled with UV-Vis (diode array) detection, while some of the samples were also analysed by liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometric detection (LC-DAD-MS). Dyes were extracted from the fibres by acid hydrolysis. Identification was based on data collected on standards, dyes and dyed fibres. For the early synthetic dyes, a dedicated library of references was built, which includes information relative to the most relevant representatives used between 1850 and 1900, the ‘Helmut Schweppe list’. According to the study, in the last decades of the 19th century, natural dye sources such as dyer’s broom, madder, Mexican cochineal and indigoid dyes were gradually replaced by early synthetic dyes: fuchsine (1856), methyl violet (1861), synthetic alizarin (1871), brilliant green (1879), azo flavine 3R (1880), rhodamine B (1887) and others.

Abstract:
Disputes arising from the execution of administrative contracts constitute a continuous challenge to the social actors involved. The Republic of Moldova could take advantage of Romanian legislation if it started from the assumption that the theories and principles that govern administrative contracts in Romania are valid for it. In the case of Romania, the reconsideration of art. 8 para. (2) of the Administrative Litigation Law no. 554/2004 which requires a legislative intervention in order to cancel the negative consequences for the private entrepreneur, part of an administrative contract, as a result of the procedural defect of not invoking, ex officio, by the court, at the first term, of functional material competence. After such an approach, the legislature of the Republic of Moldova could also be inspired, and could improve and harmonize the provisions of the Administrative Litigation Law no. 793 of 10.02.2000 and the Administrative Code no. 116/2018. Anyway, in The Republic of Moldova, by virtue of its status as a candidate country for the EU, many legislative harmonizations will take place, and Romania’s experience would help.

Abstract:
Dendrochronology is a dating method which uses tree ring data of living trees and tree ring series measured on historical and archaeological wood. In optimal circumstances dendrochronology can produce absolute dating with a half-year accuracy. Due to research carried out by our team, initiated in 2003, we can use now two master chronologies to date oak and fi r structures in Transylvania for the period between the 13th and 19th centuries, a couple of absolutely dated series for the 12th to 14th centuries, and also some fl oating series for the late migration period (7th ‒ 8th centuries) and Roman period. Th e article presents a few case studies of dendrochronological research on medieval churches from this region (Darjiu, Targu Mureş, Cetatea de Baltă, Bistriţa, Sibiu). During these campaigns of fi eldwork and following analyses we successfully dated more medieval roofs and later renovation phases. So far the earliest dated roof is the structure above the Evangelic church in Sibiu, where the timber material comes from trees felled at the middle of the 14th century. Th e method is also used to date art objects (altar panels) and wood installations (painted ceilings, furniture). To extend the validity of the present chronologies, both in time and space (in Moldova and the Romanian Plain), stronger archaeological involvement will be needed.

"Natural object or element of an artwork? Case Study: Artists, Artworks and Exhibitions in Cluj, Romania. In this article, we discuss the relationship between art and natural objects such as stuffed animals, skins, bones, dried plants or minerals and their aesthetical value from their position as artworks or elements of an artwork. In Cluj, between 2017 and 2019, artworks and exhibitions which integrate this type of practices and natural history materiality flourished. We aim to compose an inventory that could contribute to the archive of local art events, artworks, and artists in order to serve further analysis of local specificity, which could eventually find relevance in the theoretic approaches of art. In conclusion, we underline some of the theoretical approaches of the dynamics of natural object’s values and of the procedures established by organizations such as museums and galleries. Abstract:
s early as the dawn of modern age, Benjamin Constant (1819) wrote that the current democracy, unlike the ancient one, based on slavery and perpetual wars, is based on capital, while Braudel (1979) shows that capitalism as a concept could not exist without the other concepts preceding it in the sequence they occur in society, i.e. capital and capitalist. Therefore, I regarded capital, meaning the foundation of both democracy and capitalism, as a particularly challenging object of study from the standpoint of its formation, development, location in the economy and ownership in post-communist Romania. I deem the amount, quality, origin and behaviour of capital are pivotal for a solid democracy and an efficient functioning of capitalist market economy in our country. The book Capital in post-communist Romania, based on long data series, may cast a historical perspective on the economic and social phenomena and processes under scrutiny. They are meant to help devise and implement public policies for making the objectively necessary corrections to the Romanian society after such an intricate transition, as well as to prepare the actions for securing Romania’s future development. I viewed this scientific endeavour as useful after identifying a shortage of information and, against this backdrop, of analysis on economic and social results of Romania’s transition, also by comparison with other former communist countries.

Abstract:
The text analyzes the early activity of the Romanian artist Horia Bernea (1938–2000), putting it in conjunction with various aspects of conceptual art. It emphasizes points of contact between Bernea's practice and the existing narratives of conceptual art (including the Eastern European ones) and it provides contextual information about the artistic and socio-political environment in Romania during the period of liberalization which debuted at the end of the 1960s and lasted for a few years. The text mainly focuses on a close reading of some Bernea's works which were made in this timeframe, namely the Production Charts series and his investigation of the “post-cognitive iconography” formed by a family of “Entities” with invented names and morphologies.

Abstract:
The area examines the Friuli hills between the river Tagliamento to the west and the river Torre to the east; morphologically, the territory covers an area of approximately 500 sq km and is characterized by the hills of the Tilaventino morainal amphitheater, whose formation dates back to the middle-late Pleistocene glacial expansions. In Roman times, this land was part of the Regio X; it is still an ongoing debate the attribution of the northern portion of the area under investigation to the municipium of Iulium Carnicum, rather than to the Aquileia ager. The recognition and reconstruction of the centuriation plans have been equally challenging, to the point that the dedicated section shows the identification of the iso-oriented remains of the "Classic" centuriation related to Aquileia and the so-called centuriation of San Daniele and Tricesimo. After a systematic collection of archival and bibliographic records and a following consistent work of synthesis, the research deals with an in-depth study of the necropoles and isolated Roman burials in the Friuli hills. The use of Quantum GIS and Access database has allowed the preparation of a number of diachronic thematic maps, as a functional reference for the analysis of the area under investigation in relation to the spatial organization and movement of products. The analysis of the rites and funerary objects, although partly affected by the limited quantity and quality of reports of excavations and findings, has enabled the acquisition of new data relating to the type of burials especially with regards to the early stages of occupation, which is now determined to date back not earlier than the Augustan age, when it witnessed a strong socio-economical development, with the full absorption of cultural elements typical to the Roman world. It seems possible to date from around the second quarter of the first century AD the transition from ritual cremation to interment. For the Late Antique period, the survey data show a significant decrease in findings and a change in funerary rituals, alongside a reduction of funerary objects both in quantity, in variety and value of the deposited artefacts. Regarding the relationship between rural cemeteries and settlements, in the I-II century the distance between the findings seems to be set at around 300 m; in the Late Antique period a significant number of cases proves the reuse of residential sites for burial purposes, as already documented in the urban centres. The social, economic, cultural and ritual aspects emerging from the study of funeral objects were compared, where possible, with the regional contexts and the findings from neighbouring territories, highlighting standardization in ceramic forms and associations of materials inside the tombs . The study of pottery has also demonstrated the poor circulation of imported products, some of which were recognized as local imitations. The study of funerary inscriptions from Buja, San Daniele, Osoppo, Fagagna, Cassacco and Adorgnano di Tricesimo is of considerable interest; it is a valuable source of information, with 4 references to the Claudia tribe, an indication of an – administrative? – link with the territory of Iulium Carnicum, until today considered only a speculation. In some cases the type of monumental evidence indicates considerable economic potential reached by some members of the local bourgeoisie.

Thesis, Lyon 2, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015LYO20083.

Full text
Abstract:
This work questions the different practices of Ghérasim Luca (book-objects, albums, portfolios, booklets, pamphlet-poems, poster-poems, scenic and audiovisual recitals, cubomanies, drawings) in light of the semiotic experiences they initiate. Asserting that signs are at stake means insisting on the material and highly perceptible dimension of both production and reception. From the moment that signs are perceived as bodies (audible bodies, graphic and typographic bodies) by other bodies, the question of meaning is linked to the question of medium. With the notion of emergence, we can analyse spatial phenomena, linked to theatrical ones, such as appearance and disappearance : the white page, the audiotape, the screen, the wooden panels are places where an embodied thinking can arise and expand. The notion of opacification, which is used by linguists to describe metadiscursive phenomena, can be reconsidered and redefined : we try to exceed the verbal domain and to adopt a global semiotic perspective, which includes non-verbal matters. This study is composed of four interdependent parts, which show the interpenetration of historical, semiotic, linguistic, mediologic, stylistic but also scientific and philosophical approaches. The first part explores the plastic, graphic and audio creations of Ghérasim Luca, including collaborations with several artists in Romania and France. The second part identifies what we could call a linguistic imaginary, fuelled by three different traditions (Lucretius’ atomism, alchemy, Kabbalah), which considers void as a founding principle, and writing as a layout. This imaginary, which inquires the possibility of thinking about language within the language, is playfully held at a distance by Ghérasim Luca : the point is not to adopt a theory, but to circulate freely between apparently incompatible approaches. The third part describes various phenomena of meaning disruption and focuses on the specific status given to autonyms, neologisms and proper nouns in his French period : the different kinds of semiotic troubles and the invention of a lexicon beyond the lexicon take part in the destabilisation process. The fourth part is about the activity of re-creation, which takes several forms, including collage and ‘détournement’

Abstract:
Holes are paradoxes of visual culture and human behavior. Difficult to define, alive with consequence, holes affect behavior in significant ways. This chapter examines holes as slippery, elusive, material, always absent, and as parasites (to surfaces). Starting with the author’s excavation of 8,000-year-old pit-houses from the Neolithic site at Măgura (Romania), this chapter investigates the complexities of holes and surfaces as philosophic entities, and then examines the cutting work of the late twentieth-century artist Gordon Matta-Clark. The approach taken is to juxtapose otherwise disparate examples and analyses from within archaeology, art, and beyond. Though immaterial objects, holes have relations and properties. They disrupt at subconscious levels, altering understandings of our place(s) in the world, and our relations with other people, objects, and institutions. By unpacking and closely redefining holes, one gains new perspectives and analytic tools for the study of human behavior, and the traces it leaves behind, that are applicable across the humanities and social sciences, from archaeology to art history, from anthropology to design and material culture studies.

This chapter presents the thesis, structure, and philosophy of the book. Using the author’s Romanian excavations as a start, the chapter reviews the state of knowledge about pits and pit-houses in Neolithic Europe, critically reviews the debate over structured deposition (and suggests that the actions of breaking the surface of the ground—that is, digging—have not featured in previous work on the topic), defines art/archaeology (as an innovative way to provide original thought on the topic), and then justifies the book’s approach and unusual content and layout. The argument made is both that a new way to engage the archaeological object is through a new trans-disciplinary approach that juxtaposes past and present, archaeology and art, and that the reader will gain much from examining the Neolithic and other periods through the processes and consequences of cutting surfaces.

Abstract:
This paper contrasts the dative/accusative alternations in Romance languages with Romanian: In Romance, this alternation mediates the emergence of a DOM particle for direct objects, in addition to the preservation of the same particle with the indirect object (morphological extension). The case assigning property of this particle is paramount in both contexts. On the other hand, in Romanian, the dative/accusative alternation ends up with the complete substitution of one syntactic pattern by the other in the same position; e.g., dative inflected direct objects of Old Romanian (theme/patient theta-role) are substituted by accusatives with or without DOM in Modern Romanian. The change concerns the general option for analytical versus synthetic case in the grammar, irrespective of DOM. This contrast confirms the conclusions of previous studies that the development of DOM in Romanian involves different morpho-syntactic patterns than those proposed for Romance languages (e.g., Spanish), especially with respect to the origin and function of the DOM particle and the pairing of case marking on DP and the theta-roles they spell out.

Abstract This chapter critically reassesses Romanian collections of “folk art” or “folklore” through the the lens of material culture studies. While it is conventional to think about rural artifacts as indicators of regional ethnographic zones, scholars of rural objects in Romania rarely reflect on the social role of these collections. Against this background, the chapter recognizes that such objects are constantly produced, acquired, displayed, and deployed to mark a range of complex practices of representation and identity formation in heritage and vernacular contexts. Based on anthropological research in the settings identified as sources for folk art objects, it demonstrates that a material culture approach offers a unique perspective on the variety of normative categories and meanings of the artifacts depending on their historical context and changing social and political uses. It is proposed that ethnographic studies of rural objects can open novel research possibilities and reveal the situated, social, historical, and political relations in which the things are entangled.

Chapter 3 focuses on DOM in Old Romanian, for both direct and indirect objects. The data are organized according to the type of DOM mechanisms, with separate sections for CD, DOM-p, and CD+DOM-p. The focus is on the pragmatic effects of DOM, since this operation is discourse triggered in Old Romanian (i.e., CD for backgrounding, as opposed to DOM-p for foregrounding the object). The discourse triggers for DOM are defined and illustrated, as well as their changes. The synopsis is that CD becomes productive with indirect objects but unproductive with direct objects; DOM-p is at the peak of its productivity with nouns and extends up to the end of both semantic scales (i.e., definiteness/specificity and animacy); whereas CD+DOM-p is in its emerging stages and affects pronouns rather than nouns.

Abstract:
Not many prehistoric houses survive above their foundations. The three dimensions of the buildings are collapsed (sometimes literally) into the two dimensions of the site plan. That may be all that can be discovered by archaeology, and yet the missing component could have been all-important. The change of perspective is revealing, for the treatment of the walls and roof may be just as significant as the layout of the floor. Few excavated houses are as well preserved as those in the Near East, and there are many parts of Europe in which the question cannot be investigated directly. Here, the existence of ceramic models suggests an alternative approach. During 2010, two exhibitions featuring the arts of the first farmers took place in Britain. They ran simultaneously, one in Oxford and the other in Norwich. They also complemented one another geographically and thematically. The Lost World of Old Europe was organized by The Institute for the Study of the Ancient World at New York University (Anthony 2010), and Unearthed by the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts of the University of East Anglia (Bailey et al 2010). The display at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford featured artefacts from Romania, Moldova, and Bulgaria, whilst that in Norwich was restricted to finds of figurines from Romania, Albania, and Macedonia, although they were compared with others from the Jomon Culture of Japan. Not surprisingly, the Neolithic and Chalcolithic objects spanned a long period of time and were associated with several regional groups. Some were elaborately decorated, while others were entirely plain. The artefacts shown in Norwich were all depictions of the human form, but those in Oxford also included pottery vessels, stone artefacts, and early metalwork. One small group of objects was especially striking, for it consisted of ceramic models of domestic buildings. In one case, from the Cucuteni Culture of Romania, a group of figurines had been discovered inside a miniature house of this kind. The evidence of such models is revealing. There were examples in which the outer wall was highlighted by angular designs, as if to emphasize the rectilinear outline of the building, but there was also a model in the Oxford exhibition which showed a structure with a similar ground plan whose exterior was covered by curvilinear motifs.

Abstract:
Chapter 8 concludes the book and lists its contributions to the understanding of Romanian DOM: (i) DOM data should be assessed separately for each DOM mechanism; (ii) the diachrony of DOM conforms to a general pattern of changes noticed for other parametric settings in Romanian grammar; (iii) the diachrony of DOM requires a typological perspective that considers not only the Romance DOM pattern (as in previous studies) but also the Balkan DOM; (iv) DOM triggers (i.e., the particularizing and topicality features) are mapped to D in Romanian (versus v in Spanish); (v) Romanian DOM completely conforms to the specificity/definiteness scales (albeit the contrary remarks in previous studies). These results inform the grammatical theory by indicating a new configurational variation that has DOM as its outcome although it is orthogonal to Kayne's generalization.

Chapter 4 focuses on DOM in Modern Romanian, for both direct and indirect objects. The data are organized according to the type of DOM mechanisms, with separate sections for CD, DOM-p, and CD+DOM-p. The pragmatic effects noticed for Old Romanian DOM are re-assessed, considering that the contrasting interpretation of CD versus DOM-p is neutralized. The major changes concern the loss of CD with direct objects and its recycling in conjunction with DOM-p. While DOM-p declines and becomes more specialized for the end of the specificity scale, CD+DOM-p turns into the default option for DOM with direct objects, as opposed to CD, which becomes the default option for DOM with indirect objects. Increased productivity for CD+DOM-p coincides with the parallel expansion of Clitic Left Dislocation in the language, which completely replaces the constituent fronting through Topicalization.

Abstract:
This chapter explores the gendered complexities of the home encounter. It builds brings together the anthropological debates on the state and street-level bureaucracy to include feminist analysis of care and racialized motherhood. This chapter details how particular meanings that are imbued in the ‘private’ and domestic space heighten the gendered nature of governing relationships, placing more work on women and simultaneously excluding men. The chapter explores how family organisation and inscribed gender roles therein can exacerbate or ease the uncertainty and confusion within home encounters. The chapter not only examines how home encounters shape the relationships among Romanian Roma women and men, but also relationships between women and, typically, female support workers and, typically, male church volunteers. The chapter argues that those who perform ‘appropriate’ subjects of care (as mothers) can be positioned as objects of care (of the state) and consequently that men are excluded from these processes.

Abstract Rohlfs (1968, 3 $632) discusses the normal marking of DOs that are [+human] with prepositions, usually a, in Southern Italian dialects, including the Calabrian varieties. I have already addressed a few brief comments to this topic in Trumper 1996.1 The phenomenon, which syntactically binds Southern and some Central dialects to Sardinian, to Corsican, to Ibero-Romance, and to Romanian, is also present, albeit with more restrictions, in Northern Italian dialects.2 Rohlfs is essentially correct when he states that the preposition used is not always a but sometimes da (“Gallo-Sicilian”), sometimes per, not only in Romanian (am viizut pe tine) but even in the Mediterranean “lingua franca” or sabir described in detail in Cifoletti (1989) with examples such as genti mirado per mi andar con ti“mi s’e visto andar via con te”: the example mi ablar per ti adduced by Rohlfs doesn’t exhibit this particular construction but only the generalized use of the preposition per to mark both IO’s (“io ti dico”: mi ablar per ti) and DOs (“io ti vedo”: mi mirar per ti), provided they be [+human]. The particular preposition used seems to be irrelevant; more important is the fact of marking a distinction between types of DO/ IO [+human] vs. [-human], not always with the restriction [+human] to the names of persons or the Pro-forms that substitute them, but often with an extension to kinship terms, occasionally to place names (personification?) and, usually to professions or roles.

Abstract:
Our study will analyse, in national and European context, the normative and administrative dimensions of the taxpayers’ rights. Romanian legislation is generous in granting administrative rights to the taxpayer, especially in administrative procedures, such as communication with the administrative authority or tax control. The study will identify the legal regime of these rights and the legal consequences deriving from a possible breach. Romanian legislation also ensures a number of judicial rights, in accordance with the European Convention of Human Rights and the European Charter of Fundamental Rights. The judicial rights are at the centre of the study, especially in the cases when the procedure is mixed with criminal elements. However, a significant number of particularities of the tax procedure mutate the content of these rights, such as the object of the complaint, the access to a judge through a mandatory preliminary procedure. In this sense, taxpayers’ rights have a different dynamic than the rights granted in common civil or criminal procedures. Through these lenses, our study will generate an inventory of rights underlining their enforcement regime and their particularities as to the common regulation.

Abstract:
The rhombus as an ornamental motif of traditional art can be found both among the signs sewn on popular costumes or in interior textiles, on household objects, and among the shapes found in traditional cuisine. Being a geometrical motif with an archaic symbolic charge, characterized by perpetuity and cosmic sacredness, it was exploited and integrated into all the daily, celebratory and ceremonial circumstances of man. In this context, the objective of the study was directed towards the presentation of the multicriteria interpretation of this motif. On the one hand, the Rhombus carries a special semantic load, varied by the chromatic diversity and by the shapes it takes, and on the other hand, the aim is to record and fix some valuable images of the objects bearing this decorative element. Noted for its wide use, the Rhombus is found in its geometric meaning as a singular element, in ensembles of motifs and geometric compositions integrated with other inscribed motifs, but also in free rendering that involves changes in outline and proportions. Thus, knowing the multiple values of the rhombus allows the revitalization of some compositions from the national folk art and the preservation of this ancient primary ornamental motif, while the aesthetic valences and spiritual interferences will serve as a source of inspiration for today’s folk art creators. Abstract:
The present paper wants to analyze the perception of communism. It is structured in two main parts: the theoretical preliminaries and the case study. In the first part, we will build a theoretical base about the main concepts that influenced the cultural world and daily life during the years of communist dictatorship in Romania. In the second part, we analyzed a database composed of photographs of objects chosen by the respondents as significant for the period we are talking about. We want to see what are the reasons that made the research participants opt for the respective objects and what significance they had for the history of Romanian anthropology and sociology. The research hypotheses on which this paper was built are two in number. The first of them starts with the fact that the objects had a major importance in the formation of a collective memory and identity in a turbulent period from a political, economic, and social point of view. The second one looks at the object as a method of flaunting one's status or escaping from everyday life.

Abstract:
In addition to their undeniable aesthetic value, ornaments are the element that may differentiate the various social groups or individuals belonging to certain groups. More specifically, body decoration is closely related to social identity. The ornament, as a form of communication, has a certain advantage over other means of communication because, once displayed, perhaps even more than language itself, the individual wearing it need not make any effort to deliver his/her message, social sta-tus, their belonging to a group etc. The first adornments used during the Paleolithic are beads, while perforated shells are among the earliest examples of this sort. In a few cases, the perforated shells come from species rarely used in the Paleolithic, brought from long distances, in terms of the settlements in which they were found so, apart from individualizing and characterizing a certain group, they may represent important documents regarding migrations over wide areas and even regarding the origin of a culture. This is shown by new discoveries made in an early Gravettian layer at the Poiana Cireului site (Piatra Neam, north-eastern Romania), dated between 30 ka and 31 ka BP (Niu et al., 2019). The ornaments discovered here include a unique association of perforat-ed shells represented by three species of mollusks: Lithoglyphus naticoide, Litho-glyphus apertus and Homalopoma sanguineum (an exclusively Mediterranean spe-cies). This occupation differs from Central and Eastern European Gravettian tradi-tions through the symbolic behavior of the communities, defined by the use of perfo-rated shells of freshwater and marine (Mediterranean origin) mollusk belonging to species very rarely used in the Palaeolithic. Poiana Cireului is one of the very few Gravettian sites where perforated Homalopoma sanguineum shells were found and is the only Gravettian settlement where Lithoglyphus naticoides shells were used. We present the ornaments discovered and the results of analysis performed to identify the perforation methods and the use-wear traces. The presence of a Mediterranean species at the Poiana Cireului settlement located more than 900 km from the nearest source suggests the connection of communities here with the Mediterranean area. In the light of these new findings, the origin and diffusion of the Gravettian from the Mediterranean to the east of the Carpathians are a hypothesis that should be considered. Abstract:
E-learning industry has experienced new dimensions given the technology progress. There are many platforms on the market that are based on systems that facilitate learning (LMS). One of the most used LMS platforms in Romanian academia is Moodle. Moodle (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment) is an open source platform that can be continuously improved but is mainly used in academic education while in pre-academic education it is used for conducting school competitions. The objective of this paper is to provide a solution that can be implemented in the current pre-academic education system in Romania to support students in the Diaspora in their integration in the education system nationwide. The analysis was conducted based on the number of students in the Diaspora who are registered annually in the Romanian pre-university education system and the problems they face in integrating / adaptation. The bottlenecks that they face in the preparation process have been identified and a mix of solutions was offered to be followed in order to enhance the graduating degree in the school education level. The main factors identified through analysis, leading to difficulties integrating students from diaspora in the national education system are determined by curricula in force in pre-university education in Romania and a poor knowledge of Romanian (reading, writing, spoken). Given that the legislation does not provide follow a preparatory year to ensure system integration of these students, they could be more easily integrated with new technologies that support collaborative learning. Additional training through the Moodle platform constitutes the proposed solution to these problems in order to help diaspora students return to Romania and complete their pre-university studies (primary and / or secondary) in the national education system. Moodle should provide students with both modules through which they acquire or improve their knowledge of Romanian and modules from the disciplines of curricula adapted to a lower level. Thus, students in the Diaspora can gradually assume the information and knowledge that allow them learning general skills and specific school programs provided.

Abstract:
An extremely useful advancement in education is represented by the Massive Open Online Courses Platforms. In the last few years a growing number of platforms offer free courses for people around the world. This courses are important for ensuring free access to education to all the people that want to develop their knowledge and competencies, as well as those who would not otherwise be able to have access to education. Most of the courses are thought in English, but other languages are also present: German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese and other. The wide development of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) at the international level constituted both an inspiration and a challenge to develop Romanian MOOCs. The first MOOC we developed in Romanian is a course on Moodle. The course is thought as being a self-paced course. The course contains six modules, referring to different aspects of online learning or Moodle objects. For each module we developed presentations containing information, theoretical aspects and examples. Video tutorials are included for modeling and demonstrating how to use different objects in Moodle. In order to take the learning to a more practical level, each student can request a course where he has the role of teacher - in this course the student can practice everything he learns in the Moodle MOOC. We implemented this course in the Moodle platform mooc.ro. The paper presents the process and the challenges faced during the development of this Romanian MOOC as well as the feedback obtained from the first students of this course.

Abstract:
The religious text offers fertile ground for linguistic research on several levels. At the lexical level, this is characterized by a set of particularities that individualize it in relation to the secular text. An important lexical segment with a semantic, cultural and spiritual load is represented by hagionyms. The term hagionim is not currently included in specialized dictionaries, but it deserves to be brought into the area of linguistic concerns in the Romanian space, which is what we intend to do through this article. Hagionims are the names of persons, objects, places on which divine grace has been showered. From a semantic point of view, the class of hagionyms includes: hagioanthroponyms, hagiotoponyms, angelonyms, eortonyms, ecclesionyms, iconyms. In this study we propose to analyze the hagionyms from the Romanian Orthodox religious text, listing their main classes.

Abstract:
Technology development affects all areas of social life. In the digital age we live in, education must keep up with new trends. This can be achieved by transforming how learning is organized into a modern, efficient and flexible one. Young people in our society are almost technology dependent, using electronic devices for both learning, socializing and leisure. The field of e-learning has significant potential for research as it is a quite new concept in the current socio-economic context of Romania. Digital technology produces certain changes in the learning environment such as virtual learning space, independent and individualized learning, real-time monitoring of work. The concept of learning object is defined very vaguely and therefore there is a variety of learning objects models and new proposals appear continuously. The most widely used e-learning standards are SCORM, IEEE LOM, IMS, LRMI, CISCO. A generative model is an effective way to learn using independent learning. Generating generative models on computer disciplines and information technology would be an effective support for students. Interactive questions play an important role in e-learning and offer a wide range of benefits to both the student and the tutor. The generative model has emerged to improve the use of learning objects. Auto-generative learning objects (AGLO) retain the philosophy of the generative model, but generation is different. The AGLO approach uses metaprogramming to generate content, and the main difference is that this generation relies heavily on random numbers and dynamic content. Following the study of existing objects, we identified the generative learning objects as having potential for further development.

Abstract:
Semantically, adjectives are used to characterize a noun designating a person or an object in terms of quality. It should be noted that the adjective is not the only way express the quality of an object. French and Romanian languages has multiple ways of highlighting the quality of an object, for example a noun used in postposition towards the determined term, an adnominal complement, a relative sentence. The translation usually known as transposition marks the evidence of the functional equality among the elements of the nature and the diversity inside the phrase. Summing up these notices we can say that at least the category of adjective has some similarities through semantic-pragmatic characteristics, particularly the ability of subdivision.

Abstract:
The current paper takes a comparative look at a selection of Japanese proverbs and their translation into English to their Romanian equivalents. The English translation belongs to David Galeff, the author of the book ‘Japanese Proverbs. Wit and Wisdom’ from which stems the selection of proverbs which are the object of the current analysis. The Romanian translation applies two methods. It tries to find an equivalent in Romanian, both in terms of wit i.e. wording or sense and in terms of wisdom i.e. meaning or reference. As such the two perspectives of analysis are semantic and pragmatic. The aim is firstly to find an equivalent in meaning and reference to a relevant wisdom inspired by reality and life. If such an equivalent is not found, alternative translations are attempted using other translation procedures, such as modulation or even adaptation. The theoretical framework used is the one Vinay and Dalbernet outlined in their ‘Comparative Stylistics of French and English: A Methodology for Translation’. This is a translational attempt to look towards the East and towards the West and see how different and how similar they are in the way they understand life and express that understanding. The aim of the analysis is to see to what extent it can identify corresponding ways of wording or equivalent forms of expression in Romanian for the wit and the wisdom incapsulated in the Japanese proverbs, via the English language
