Abstract:
Introduction. Production of safe food requires the avoidance of using chemical means to bring weeds under control in cultivating crops. Existing tillage loosening and separating machine PRSM-5 Dokuchaevskaya optimizes the physical and mechanical state of the cultivated soil layer, while the weeds are carefully removed from the soil by combing out together with the whole weed root system and laid on the surface, where they dry up under the influence of climatic factors. During the operation of the tillage machine, about 30% of the total energy consumption is spent on the rotor drive. Therefore, this machine is not working satisfactorily in firm soils. Materials and Methods. The soil was considered as an elastic-plastic medium. The generalized Hookeʼs law model and a variant of the plastic flow theory were taken into account. To simplify the calculations, there was used the experimental study information on the position in space of the soil deformation surface. The intensity of stresses of polyplastic deformations of the soil layer was determined. For the numerical solution of the problem, the Ritz method was used. Results. In connection with the indicated disadvantages, the parameters of the rotor ripper are justified taking into account the reduction in energy consumption for its drive. As a result of solving the problem by the Ritz method, the geometric shape of the rotor ripper was determined. The energy performance of the section of the tillage machine was evaluated by the torque of the rotor drive of the loosening-separating device. The rotor drive torque was determined for rippers with flat, convex, and concave profiles and for the profile substantiated during the study. Discussion and Conclusion. The profile substantiated during the study provides the best conditions for transporting the soil at the initial moment of the rotor entry into the soil and the minimum energy consumption for its drive.

The myth of de Ritz, when first we heard of him, was that of an itinerant late-nineteenth century painter (a view echoed in Una Platts’ 1980 Nineteenth Century New Zealand artists: a guide & handbook). Seeing the paintings, one imagined a Romantic wanderer at makeshift easel, smoke rising lazily from a fire whereupon a billy boiled, a river before, a tent beyond: a remittance man, perhaps, a shamed scion escaping old Europe for Antipodean bush, fleeing heartacheor financial scandal or the outcome of a duel.

(Title: The Representation of Female Character in “Edge of Tomorrow” (2014) Film Based on Feminist Film Critics). This research analyzes the female character in Edge of Tomorrow, Rita Vrataski. This research intends to understand how female character is described in the film and how female character is described according to feminist film critic. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. This research also uses theory character and characterization in film and theory feminist film critic. As the result, Rita is described as a female soldier who has characteristics as committed, brave, assertive, strong, muscular, intelligent and skillful soldier. Even though Rita, as the female character who has man’s characteristics, she still needs help from another male character. Rita character in this film is still passive because the one who finishes the mission in the story is the male character, William Cage. This film proves that male domination still exists in story of film. Thus, the female stereotype has been attached in film and it is difficult to change it.Keywords: female character ,women in film , feminist film critic

Abstract:
Quixote is the second in the California-based Classics in Miniature series of short film versions of literary classics performed by puppets. The first film, Faust, was launched in 2008, and reviewed by Joachim Beug in Scenario 2008, Issue 2 (see http://publish.ucc.ie/scenario/2008/02/beug/09/en). The double challenge of condensing a work as vast as Cervantes’s Don Quijote – the text runs to about a thousand pages in most standard-format editions – into a film which lasts a half an hour and in which all the roles are performed by puppets is obviously very great, and all the more so when one considers that, according to the project website (www.classicsinminiature.com), this film, like the others in the series, is aimed at the “educational market (from age 12 through university) and to the general public”, and is “for everyone – young and old, cynical and romantic.” The implication that the creators of the series are conscious of the risks of over-simplification and sentimentalizing – risks which they might afford to incur if young children were, exclusively, their target audience – seems clear. Equally, it seems clear that they aim to communicate the essence of the original works not just to people who may never have ...

Thanatography: Strategies of representationsof death in Renata Litwinova’s film Rita’s Last Fairy TaleThe aim of the article is the interpretation of Renata Litvinova’s film Rita’s Last Fairy Tale 2012. The author shows that the examples of rite de passage, which are present in the selected work of art, are introduced to neutralize the perception of death. It is done, first of all, due to the strategies of aestheticization and romanticization, which emphasize the conventionality of the world presented. The picture of death proposed by Litvinova is almost entirely devoid of any aspects of physiology. The stylization suggested in the title of the film is realized with the use of elements of retro glamor, dark humor and irony. The process of perception is also focused on the attempt of decoding the film leitmotivs such as the symbolism of the mirror or the ways of theatralization of behavior, taking into account some montage solutions.Tanatografia. Abstract:
Natural and accelerated weatherings were studied to inspect the effect of antioxidants to protect low-density polyethylene (LDPE) films for commercial application as greenhouse covering materials in Saudi Arabia. In this investigation, six different formulations of LDPE film with incorporation of antioxidants were prepared and compared with neat LDPE. The samples were extruded and blown into a film using twin-screw extruder and film blowing machine. The LDPE films were exposed for outdoor weathering in Riyadh during the period of 90 days (mid of June to mid of September) while the accelerated tests were performed by Weather-Ometer. The film having 0.2 wt% Alkanox-240 (AN-0.2) stabilizers showed the highest tensile strength among all samples during natural and 100-hour accelerated weathering (10.9 MPa and 21.8 MPa, resp.). The best elongation at break was witnessed in 0.2% Good-rite antioxidants which were 64% in natural weathering; however, 0.5% Good-rite antioxidants showed 232% in accelerated weathering. The film having 0.5 wt% Good-rite 3114 (GR-0.5) antioxidant could withstand 70 days during natural exposure before the tensile strength values were reduced to 2/3rd of the initial. The present study suggested that the addition of antioxidants Good-rite, Anox, and Alkanox can improve the mechanical strength, film’s life, effectiveness, and stability and they are suitable to be incorporated in LDPE for commercial greenhouse films.

Abstract:
Based on the free boundary theory and variational method, this paper presents a Ritz method to compute the instantaneous hydrodynamic forces of a real bearing subject to any perturbed motions of the rotor. The given method manipulates the cavitation region by simply introducing a parameter to match the free boundary condition and, as a result, a very simple approximate formula of oil-film pressure were obtained leading to great saving of computing time. The numerical examples show the high accuracy of the proposed formulas. This oil-film force model is also used to analyze the nonlinear dynamics of a rigid unbalanced rotor with elliptical bearing support. The results well agree with those of the oil-film force model computed by the finite element method and the computing time is saved greatly.

Full text
Abstract:
A new higher order geometrically nonlinear relation is developed to relate the deflection of a thin film /substrate system to the intrinsic film stress when these deflections are larger than the thickness of the substrate. Using the Rayleigh-Ritz method, these nonlinear relations are developed by approximating the out-of-plane deflections by a second-order polynomial and midplane normal strains by sixthorder polynomials. Several plate deflection configurations arise in an isotropic system: at very low intrinsic film stresses, a single, stable, spherical plate configuration is predicted; as the intrinsic film stress increases, the solution bifurcates into one unstable spherical shape and two stable ellipsoidal shapes; in the limit as the intrinsic film stress approaches infinity, the ellipsoidal configurations develop into cylindrical plate curvatures about either one of the two axes. Curvatures predicted by this new relation are significantly more accurate than previous theories when compared to curvatures calculated from three-dimensional nonlinear finite element deflection results. Furthermore, the finite element results display significant transverse stresses in a small boundary region near the free edge.

Abstract:
Ayurveda has been developed on the firm grounds of maintaining the health of the healthy and treating the diseases of the diseased. The aim of Ayurveda is to preserve the health of the individuals by averting causes at their primitive stage. The preventive branch of Ayurveda may be traced to the following headings. Dinacharya- the daily regimen; Ritucharya-the seasonal regimen; Sadvritta-proper codes and conducts of living; Trayopasthambha- Ahara, Nidra, Brahmacharya; Rasayana-Rejuvenation through Ahara Rasayana and Achara Rasayana; Vajeekarana-Virility and improving the health of the progeny. Ritucharya holds great significance in Ayurveda. A good seasonal routine helps in achieving a balance of the Doshas. Following a seasonal routine is intended to nullify the influence of changing climatic conditions on the body. Ritucharya has developed as a cost-effective intervention for all seasonal based ailments. Various possibilities like sunstroke in summer can be controlled by following Ritucharya. India is a tropical country and reports the highest casualties in summer. Simple changes in routine as advised in Ritucharya Adhyaya can avert this menace. Shashanka Kirana Bhakshya is one among the interventions of Greeshma Ritu as Daha Prashamaka and Ruchya. It is relevant to review the description available in the Ayurvedic textbooks in relation to Ritu and Ritucharya. One should follow a dietic regimen and activities as ascribed in Ayurveda in respective seasons to maintain normal health. Abstract:
A novel T-shaped piezoelectric ZnO cantilever sensor for chem/bio-detection is designed and fabricated with MEMS technology. By using Rayleigh-Ritz method, the fundamental resonant frequency formula of T-shaped cantilevers is deduced for the first time and is validated by simulation results and experimental results. From this formula, we can easily find the superiority of adopting T-shape for the cantilevers. The complete process of the cantilever sensor is then successfully developed. The cantilever sensor is actuated by a layer of high-quality ZnO film with preferred (002) orientation, which is evaluated by SEM and XRD. The key step of the process is protecting the ZnO film from KOH etching by a novel and effective method, which has rarely appeared in the literature. Finally, this cantilever sensor is measured by a network analyzer, and it has a fundamental resonant frequency of 24.60 kHz. The cantilever sensor developed in this study illustrates the feasibility and potential for many miniaturized sensor applications.

Abstract:
The concept of the “bad seed,” a child whose negative hereditary traits will unleash chaos on an unsuspecting family, has to this day informed responses to adoption, a relic of William March’s 1954 novel, The Bad Seed, and its 1956 film adaptation. A closer look at other mid-twentieth-century American adoption narratives suggests, however, that inherited traits were not the only concerns, an argument this essay pursues by considering March’s novel and its film adaptation alongside Richard Wright’s posthumously published novella Rite of Passage. All of the texts share certain formal features, such as the adopted/fostered characters’ abrupt discovery of their adoptive status and the presence of psychological discourses in representing the distress of learning that new information. They come to very different conclusions, however, about the root cause of the adopted characters’ tragic outcomes. While The Bad Seed novel and film imagine an adoptee compelled by violent ancestral urges, in Wright’s text the fate of the adopted/foster child is most profoundly shaped by the structures of the social system itself. Rite of Passage provides a useful corrective to the stubborn endurance of the bad seed narratives’ determinism, drawing on many of the same discourses that inform both novel and film to offer an alternative perspective on race, gender, heredity, and adoption from the 1940s and 1950s.

Abstract:
This interdisciplinary study applies the theatrical theories of stage genres to examples of the early sound cinema, the 1930 Hollywood musicals Puttin’ on the Ritz (starring Harry Richman, and with songs by Irving Berlin) and Free and Easy (starring Buster Keaton). The discussion focuses on the phenomenon of the sad clown as a symbol of tragicomedy. Springing from Rick Altman’s delineation of the “sad clown” sub-subgenre of the show musical subgenre, outlined in The American Film Musical, this article shows that, in these seminal movie musicals, naïve melodrama and “gag” comedy coexist with the tonalities, structures, philosophy, and images of the sophisticated genre of tragicomedy, including by incorporating the grotesque into the mise en scene of their musical production numbers.

Abstract:
Critic and literary historian of indisputable importance in shaping the overall picture of the evolutions recorded in the Romanian literary realm in the last six decades, Eugen Simion did not have (as well as, moreover, most of his colleagues in the critical magistracy belonging to the same generation of creation) a specific, unique or preferred critical „method”, rigid, firm and easy to detect and define. This apparent lack of method is actually the result of mastery in methodological synthesis and the effect of an inspired positive eclecticism. The critic has happily combined or joined together methods and perspectives, with admirable results, he has constantly shown concern to identify and choose, for each particular case of the development of his critical approach — that is, for each critical text, for each work or group of works or section of a larger work etc. — , the formula of criticism, the angle of approach, the perspective and the methodological panoply, that is, in a word, the most suitable „method”. He practiced an aesthetic assessment criticism, using in an opportune manner the tools offered by the scientific approach, he followed the historical-literary foundation of the aesthetic judgment, but also the clarification of some theoretical aspects, especially regarding the author-work relationship or the relationship between biography and the literary text, he revalued and reinvented, productively, the biographism, he did not avoid the appeal to the advantages of erudition and documentation, the use of the “weapons” of typology, the recourse to social-historical contextualization, the recourse to aspects related to narratology, etc. The carousel of angles and means of approach, their diversity and complementarity, happily compete for the meaningful outline of „total” critical approaches, of an impressive methodological synthesis, giving the feeling of completeness. The text of the communication tries to give an account of the way in which these procedures of the critic manifested themselves at the level of some of his books.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide an alternative way of calculating the deadweight loss triangle in oligopolistic markets which takes inefficient use of inputs into account. The author shows that the result of the approach coincides with the one that exists in the economics literature. However, the author explicitly accounts for the inefficient use of inputs. Design/methodology/approach The market supply curve that is extensively used for competitive markets has been reconsidered for the imperfectly competitive markets. The necessary condition for the efficient use of resources is investigated and a price level is derived at which the market output of oligopoly is produced efficiently. The degree of inefficient use of inputs is reported via the definitions of Input Inefficiency Measure (IIM) and the Ratio of Inefficient usage of Inputs to Total Deadweight Loss (RITD). Findings The author discovers that the area under the supply curve of the competitive market corresponds precisely to the minimum total costs of producing any given market output. To make this important finding operational in imperfectly competitive markets, the IIM reports the degree of distorted input allocation among firms with differentiated cost structures in producing a given equilibrium imperfectly competitive market output. In measuring the monopoly power, it is known that CRn or HHI market concentration indexes, which are calculated based on the market shares of firms regarding the demand side of the market, are widely used. The measures, which take into account of the distortions in input usage, and hence, the supply side may be considered as an additional index. For example, if the market demand were shared equally by two firms (no dominant firm with respect to the demand side), it is known that the leadership would still arise when the costs of firms differed as in the dominant firm model in favor of the lower cost producing firm. Research limitations/implications The author recommends some more theoretical research extensions of the approach suggested here to other oligopolistic markets like the Cournot-Nash, the Stackelberg and other models. In all cases, there is a need for additional work to find some measurable variables in practice in order to estimate the input inefficiency given by the two measures and differentiate it from the inefficiency of units of outputs that are not produced. Practical implications It may be interesting to decompose the various estimates of welfare losses due to monopoly power as a percentage of GNP that were discussed in the literature into two inefficiency components: units of outputs that are not produced and units of inputs that are misallocated among firms. Social implications The government officials might be interested in assessing the degree of loss of input usage by firms in addition to output loss in oligopolistic markets summarized by the two inefficiency indexes. Law economists may be inspired in discussing the issue of input inefficiency in the context of on antitrust policy. Originality/value The author emphasized that the area under the market supply curve minimized the aggregate cost of producing a given total market output in competitive markets. Having recognized the importance of this finding, the author tried to apply it to imperfectly competitive markets and especially to the calculation of deadweight loss in such markets. The author showed that the total social cost could be calculated by including the input inefficiency which can be defined as the extra cost to society arising from not using the most appropriate economic resource allocation among firms in addition to the usual deadweight loss triangle. Moreover, the author had to introduce some more new terms like the market supply curve allocation, the adjusted competitive price, efficiency gain and so on, as they were necessary along the course of the analysis.

Abstract:
For the first time, the theoretical model of the spin-electron structure of a singlelayer graphene film was proposed by Wallace. The literature also describes ferromagnetism generated by none of the three common causes: impurities, defects, boundaries. We believe that the source of ferromagnetism is the spontaneous breaking of spin symmetry in a graphene film. The classical field model describing spontaneously broken symmetry is necessarily non-linear. Among non-linear models, the simplest is the well-known 4 model. We believe that, as a first approximation, we can describe with its help all the characteristics of spin waves that interest us, their spectra, and the domain structure of ferromagnetism in graphene. The model admits kink and anti-kink exact solutions and a quasiparticle breather, which we modeled numerically. We use the kink-anti-kink interaction energy obtained numerically to solve the Schrödinger equation, which simulates the quantum dynamics of breathers, which underlies the description of spin waves. The solution of the Schrödinger equation by the Ritz method leads to a generalized problem of eigenvalues and eigenvectors, the solution of which is mainly devoted to this work.

Abstract:
Styrene–acrylic emulsions containing hydroxyl functional monomer unit’s component are widely used for maintenance coating. In this paper, a stable emulsifier-free styrene–acrylic emulsion with solid content over 43% could be obtained in 210 min via reverse iodine transfer polymerization (RITP). By adding a mixture of methacrylic acid (MAA) and poly(ethylene glycol)methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA) into a system containing a high content of hydroxyl functional monomer component (19.4 wt.% of the total monomer mass), styrene (St) could be copolymerized with methyl methacrylate (MMA); the modified film exhibited good hardness properties, good adhesive properties, and low water absorption. An increase in the amount of PEGMA decreased the glass transition temperature (Tg). When 1.4 times the reference amount of initiator was added, the highest molecular weight Mn could reach 40,000 g.·mol−1 with 0.25 times the reference amount of iodine in the emulsion. The largest tensile strength of the dried emulsion film over 5.5 MPa endowed the material with good mechanical properties. Living polymerization was proven by the kinetics of RITP emulsion and chain extension reaction. TEM micrographs manifest the emulsification of the seed random copolymer. This paper may provide a potential methodology for preparing polymer materials with excellent mechanical properties.

Abstract:
Abstract Based on the Rayleigh-Ritz method, the transverse vibration characteristics of a rectangular plate with an arbitrarily shaped inner opening are investigated. A modified two-dimensional Fourier series was chosen as the trial function and springs of different stiffnesses were used to equate the arbitrary boundary conditions of the rectangular plate. The Lagrange generalization of the transverse vibration of the open rectangular plate is obtained by equating the open area to a special film with physical properties of zero according to the energy superposition principle. The variational method is used to derive the characteristic equations of the thin plate and to find the intrinsic frequencies and corresponding vibration modes. The convergence of this theoretical method is analyzed by means of an example, and the accuracy of the method is verified by comparison with the results of finite element software calculations, which provides a reference for practical engineering problems.

Not holy exorcism. Theological traces in cinematic adaptationsThe rite of major exorcism, which includes imperative formulas addressed at Satan, still exists in the liturgy of the Latin Church. It has become the basis for numerous film adaptations somewhat fascinated by the Christian almighty God and his eternal opponent, the fallen angel. Moreover, the character of the exorcist, a man who holds the power to expel evil spirits, also raises many questions about his faith, morality and objectives. The energumen, i.e. the possessed individual, is a character able to shape and embellish the entire picture, and even the plot. An insight into those four persons, who are the core of cinematographic reinterpretations of exorcism and an integral part for the liturgy itself, constitutes the main subject of the article, preceded by a basic explanation of the terminology and a brief historical outline of the development of the rite of exorcism.

It respects the Corpus Christi, it emancipates and demystifies the procession, and it conquers Saint Peter’s square becoming a universal expression. This sacramental act originated as a people’s need and it was defined as an expression of human factor. It is a testimony of sacred liturgy as well as an example of secular protocol. It’s not only a timeless rite but also an expression of liberty.La Patum manifests itself through the image shapes, troupe gestures, color messages and music melodies. The ancestral and atavistic rhythm of the tabal merges with the choreographies and the purifying fire sparks. As a consequence, la Patum is a characteristic bergadan heaven that coexists in a friendly and fraternal inferno. It represents the fight between good an evil, the echo of its history and a collective memory icon. It still remains today as a totem of the protectors of the past and the overcoming of fears. But also shows the longing of freedom between afterlife and our reality. Abstract:
Evenkis, in the course of settling over a vast territory and adapting to the environment, created a wide range of local life support options. Many of the local groups have not been sufficiently studied. From this point of view, the description of the modern Evenkis life support models is relevant. An important component of the life support system is ritual activity that satisfies the spiritual needs of the people and contributes to the preservation of the environment and its resources. The traditional beliefs and rituals of two Evenki groups: the Murchens, cattle breeders (horse breeders) of the Barguzin Valley of the Republic of Buryatia, and the reindeer herders of the Okhotsk Coast of the Khabarovskii krai, are considered. Despite the differences in natural and climatic conditions, economic activities, and the influence of neighboring peoples, they adhere to common traditional Evenki beliefs and rituals: the cult of the ancestral shaman, the hunting rite, the rite of worship of the owners of the area, th Ulganni rite, the cult of fire. The article is prepared on the basis of the author’s field materials from the expeditions to the Okhotsk Evenkis in the Tuguro-Chumikansky district of the Khabarovskii krai in 2017, 2018, 2022; to the Ayano-Maysky district of the Khabarovskii krai in 2015, and to the Barguzin Evenkis in the Kurumkansky district of the Republic of Buryatia in 2012, 2020, 2022.

Abstract:
Abstract This essay revisits the question of credit and debt in the celebrated 1952 film musical Singin’ in the Rain (dir. Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen, US) to show how white women's dancing bodies participate in the “talent relocations” that the movie both thematizes and suppresses. Specifically, it focuses on the relationship between Debbie Reynolds, who was a novice dancer when she was cast in the film, and the two other white women dancers who helped shape Reynolds's filmic body: assistant choreographer Carol Haney and dance-in Jeanne Coyne. Combining feminist and critical race perspectives with production studies, film studies, and dance and performance studies, the essay unites often disconnected gendered and racial analyses of the film by emphasizing the gendered forms of labor and the multiracial genealogies through which dance is reproduced. It also shows how the guise of white credibility enabled Reynolds to conceal her intercorporeal and multiracial debts. Finally, the essay argues that the presence of dancers of color in the film, most notably Rita Moreno, haunts the chains of white corporeal debt that bind Reynolds to Haney and Coyne.

Abstract:
The funeral rite is a complex ritual process. It combines traditional worldview norms and rituals, includes various stages — the preparatory, process of burial and post-funeral actions as the funeral fest etc. From the archaeological point of view, the funeral rite is considered as the system of interrelated features which includes the funeral method, type of burial, form of the burial structure, grave goods and the remains of the buried people or animals. Mostly the reconstruction of the funeral rite is quite simple. However, there are the burials, practically having no analogies in archaeological culture and literature. Unusual postmortem transformations on the bones that appear during the preparation process or at the time of burial are sometimes hard to be seen, even more difficult to interpret. Recently, thanks to the spread of research methods, gaining the experience and opportunities to international consultations as well as fruitful cooperation with archaeologists we began (albeit very slowly) to collect the database of «unusual» cases of rites. The vast majority of such cases can be traced at the populations of Scythian Age. The examples are decapitated accompanying persons; skull fragments with signs of scalping and deliberate destruction; possibly boiled human bones found on the ash hills of the Bielsk hill-fort etc. From this point of view the Early Scythian grave in the barrow 524 near Zhabotin village in the basin of the Tyasmin River is undoubtedly interesting. The primary burial (N 1) was completely destroyed and has no traces of any skeleton. Our paper is focused on the anthropological study of human remains from the other grave. This is the burial of teenager aged 13—15 with the body of very gracile structure. Features on the skeleton indicate poor health from early childhood. The teenager suffered from frequent prolonged illnesses or starvation. The process of preparing the body for burial in this case is very complicated. The body and a wooden platform located near grave were exposed to low-temperature fire (100—200 °C). One can assume that the body was placed on the platform. There are no reasons yet to determine the motive of such rite — the ritual cleaning the wooden structure or body by fire or the purposeful process of mummification by low-temperature drying of the body on a smoldering fire. Spectrometric analysis of the black plaque on the skull fragments confirms the presence of mummified organic tissues of the human body. Cases of this type of mummification are known from ethnographic sources. The incision in the skull may have been caused by a procedure to clean the bones of soft tissue or by cutting certain tendons before burial. Until other similar cases would be found in similar cultural milieu the purpose and exact nature of the manipulation with the child’s body in the barrow near Zhabotin remain unknown.

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is a semiotic illumination of the Japanese film Zatoichi (2003) by Takeshi Kitano in a comparative context. Firstly, it is important to point it out as the most artistic regarding the previous 26 film and television achievements. Representative Japanese symbols and customs, whose function is important for the film’s understanding, also stand out. We have found and interpreted common features with Serbian ritual and customary prac- tice. In that context, the most important are the songs of Jeremiah and the rite of expelling the serpents which correspond to Zatoichi’s fight against the Ginzo clan whose members have snake-tattooed bodies. Hence, we compare the Japanese hero (or God) to Saint Jeremiah. The motif of blinding the snake is also significant, since it corresponds to Zatoichi’s punishment of the head of the criminal clan. In order to understand the film, this paper does not emphasize the intercultural dialogue between Japanese and Serbian culture as much as the need for uni- versal archaic awareness.

Abstract:
In Turkic-Mongolian mythology the most common appealing to the deity during ceremonial actions (veneration of celestial beings, spirits of ancestors, spirits of mountains and fire) is the word khairkhan / kairakan. The article is devoted to the meanings of this word in Turkic and Mongolian rite acts, revealing of their differences depending on traditions, rite action, language features in the diachronic aspect. The analysis of the theonym khayrkhan / kairakan of Mongolian peoples in comparison with Siberian Turks of the Sayan-Altay area from the point of view of preservation and transformation of the code word in the rite tradition seems relevant. The author aims to identify from a semiotic point of view the meaning of the theohym khairkhan, and its connotations, fixed in tradition. The etymology of the word khairkhan in the Mongolian and Turkic languages of the Sayan-Altay area has been considered. The mythological semantics of this word have been studied on material of the rite texts of Mongolian and Turkic peoples. The main denotations, such as the supreme deity, the guardian spirit (spirits of mountains, fire, ongon-spirits), and totem (bear, snake) were revealed. Depending on the cultural experience of the people, the denotation of theonym changes in different language environments, rite tradition and time continuum. It is assumed that strict observance of ritual, prescribed behavior, transmission of formula expressions without changes contributed to preservation of this word as a key word in the memory of the collective. Its mythological background with ancient sacred roots sounds as echo in ritual action. It is established that khairkhan / kairakan is one of the oldest symbols of the deity in the Turk- Mongolian tradition. If one considers the theonym without going beyond the sustainable cultural context, in Turk-Mongolian mythology it is used in its basic denotative meaning as giving mercy. The author concludes that theonym khairkhan / kayrakan, while maintaining its archetypal mythological meaning, is a steady code word in the Turk-Mongolian rite tradition.

Abstract:
10537 Background: Burnout in oncologists has been rising over the past decade. Burnout leads to poor patient outcomes and poor physician health. Younger oncologists are at higher risk for burnout. The Firm System was designed by Victor McKusick at the Johns Hopkins hospital in 1975 to integrate faculty and trainees into clinical and psychologically supportive cohorts. Here we describe an adapted Firm System called the FitFirms, which focused on social connectivity and altruistic service as means to combat burnout in oncology trainees. Methods: We divided the Hematology and Oncology Division of an academic Comprehensive Cancer Care center into four cohorts of faculty-fellow teams called FitFirms. Each FitFirm was named after a notable local or national female leader in the field of cancer medicine—The Henrietta Lacks Firm, The Jane Wright Firm, The Padmini Iyer Firm, and The Rita Mehta Firm. The faculty and fellows interacted on an at-minimum quarterly basis in casual social events and/or community service-oriented events for 15 months. The social events included group dinners, bowling, paint and game nights. The service events included participation in 5K walk/run fundraiser for our institution’s cancer center and support of a National Cancer Survivors Day event for US Veterans. A didactic discussion series was created to explore concepts of resiliency, work-life balance, and the role of art in medicine—mentored by faculty across the spectrum of oncologic disciplines (Surgical Oncology, Gynecologic Oncology, Palliative Care, and Health Communication). The Maslach Burnout Inventory survey was used to survey the oncology trainees before and after the interventions. Results: Nine pre-intervention surveys were collected with 78% of trainees describing themselves as on the burnout spectrum of feeling either ineffective, overextended, disengaged, or burned out (22% engaged). After 15 months, 10 post-intervention surveys were collected in which 60% of trainees described themselves on the burnout spectrum (40% engaged). Conclusions: The FitFirms are a novel system using social capital to reduce the problem of burnout in oncology trainees by engaging in social connectivity and altruistic service through faculty-mentored, historically-named divisional cohorts.

Abstract:
Huge thrust bearings with centrally pivoted and tilted pads operating under heavy loads are analzyed using the (thermoelastohydrodynamic) TEHD-theory. The Reynolds equation, the energy equation of the oil film, and the heat conduction equation of the bearing, all are coupled with the deflection equation and solved simultaneously in order to determine the bearing characteristic values. The first three equations are transformed by means of finite difference method and the last equation is solved using the method of Ritz-Galerkin. Based on successive approximation method a new iterative scheme is presented to apply the heavy load incrementally which provides a successful convergence of the equation system. In order to find the equilibrium state of the pad, another iterative scheme based on a controlled change of the pad tilts is applied. The tilts are changed as a function of the offset of the hydrodynamic resultant force from the pivot location. It is proved that the new scheme is quite efficient in successful convergence of the equation system and in saving CPU time.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The paper is devoted to identifying the compositional and semantic features of the shamanic text recorded by A. V. Anokhin in 1910 from the Tuba shaman Balandi. The analysis showed the text to consistently reflect all the ritual actions characteristic of the shaman rite. The main actions are invoking deities and host spirits, sacrifices to deities and master spirits of the Middle World, and sprinkling of the Ot-Ene, home spirit of fire. The ceremony had a family and household character, with the main purpose being to ask for grace for one family. The cult of mountains, worship of the deities and spirits of the Middle World reflected in the rite (Altai-Kudai ‘Altai-God’, Jayik ‘Dyayik (Idol Creator)’, Ot-Ene ‘Fire-Mother’) indicate the involvement of the performer of this ritual text in the South Altai tradition of shamanism. The appeal to the deity Altai-Kudai testifies to the fact that already at the beginning of the twen- tieth century, the Altaians formed a monotheistic image of a single deity. The key mythologeme in the text is the shaman’s journey to the top of the ridge inhabited by the deity Altai-Kudai who gives grace, happiness, and prosperity to the souls of cattle and children. The analyzed shamanic text is distinguished by a high solemn style. The poetic form of the shamanic text provides maximum expressiveness and ultimate emotional and semantic richness. Its syllabic structure varies from seven to twelve syllables. The ritual structure consists of three-day actions with sacrifice to the spirits-masters of the sacred mountains.

Abstract:
The tradition of a single combat on elephant back first emerged in Thai history in the 13th century during the Sukhothai period. Before that time, there was. no evidence that this tradition was practiced by mainland Southeast Asian rulers. The origin of the elephant duel is still unknown but there is historical interpretation that the Thais and other mainland Southeast Asian warriors had adopted this practice from Sri Lanka. The fight on elephant back is a kind of military ritual observed by pre-modem monarchs of mainland Southeast Asia. With the arrival of modern weapons, particularly fire-arms such as muskets and cannons, the tradition was brought to its end. This is due to the fact that the fighter riding on the back of a huge creature had become a clear target of the opposition gunners. Many of them had been murdered before the engagement. The tradition was terminated in late 16th century. The fight between King Naresuan of Ayudhya and the Crown prince of Pegu had marked the end of this fatal ritual after being practiced without interruption for over three centuries.
