Abstract:
The subject of this article is project portfolio risk categorisation. Research conducted indicated categories containing the most probable and significant risks. The research described in this paper was carried out in two stages. In the first stage, the relevant literature was reviewed and the Delphi method was used to identify 36 risks specific to a project portfolio. In the second stage, the respondents (project portfolio managers) assessed the probability of each risk occurring and the impact of that risk on the objectives of the project portfolio. The empirical data obtained in this way made it possible to conduct an exploratory factor analysis and to identify the risk categories of the project portfolio. The presented results may also contribute to a broader discussion concerning the validity of identifying project portfolio risks and how to categorise them. The results may be useful for further discussion on the empirical confirmation of three categories of portfolio risks proposed by the Project Management Institute.

Abstract:
A number of variables influences potatoes growing, including natural conditions, used growing technologies and market conditions. The most important parameters for the production of potatoes crops are yield, farmer’s price, subsidies and costs. All these parameters can change over time. This means that managers of farms must constantly assess the key parameters affecting the economic outturn and analyse the degree of risk of their achievement. This article analyses the economic risks of potatoes cultivation based on statistical data obtained over the last 10 years. The Monte Carlo stochastic simulation method was used to analyse the risk of gross profits. The results of the calculations confirmed the considerable variability and risk of growing potatoes in the climate conditions of the Czech Republic in general, and especially regarding the first early potatoes and potatoes for starch production.

Abstract:
There has been a lack of attention to the subject of risk management in the design and operation of software. This is strange because the risk to reliability is a critical problem in attempts to achieve a safe operation of the software. To address this problem, we evaluate existing models and introduce a new model for software risk prediction. The new model — cumulative failures gradient function — is based on the principles of neural networks. This metric identifiers the minimum test time required to achieve maximum improvement in software quality. We used three NASA Space Shuttle software systems in the evaluation of both existing and new models. The results showed that it was not possible to consistently rank these systems because the validity of the risk predictions varied depending on the risk model that was used. Therefore, the results suggest that it is advisable to use a variety of models to comprehensively evaluate the software risk.

Abstract:
This study investigates how oil price movements impact the main Eurozone industry supersectors returns. We use a multifactor market model in which we incorporate oil price changes as an additional risk factor. In order to account for possible breaks in the relationship, we use the Bai and Perron (1998, 2003) breakpoints identification methodology. We find evidence of the presence of structural instabilities on the relationship between sector stock returns and oil price changes. Different breakpoints are identified, particularly the 2003 Iraq invasion year, the 2008 subprime crisis and the 2012 Euro debt crisis. Moreover, our results prove that stock return sensitivities to oil prices are time varying and sector dependent. Besides, the subprime financial crisis appears to induce a significantly positive effect on the oil-stock market nexus. However, the Euro debt crisis has a mostly negative effect. The other identified breakpoints do not seem to have any significant effect on the oil stock market nexus.

Abstract:
The problem of proving generalization bounds for the performance of learning algorithms can be formulated as a problem of bounding the bias and variance of estimators of the expected error. We show how various stability assumptions can be employed for this purpose. We provide a necessary and sufficient stability condition for bounding the bias and variance for the Empirical Risk Minimization algorithm, and various sufficient conditions for bounding bias and variance of estimators for general algorithms. We discuss settings in which it is possible to obtain exponential bounds, and we prove an extension of the bounded-difference inequality for "almost always" stable algorithms.

Abstract:
Introduction: Breakage of the femoral stem component of a total hip replacement is now uncommon but continues to be seen with certain stem designs and in certain patient groups. Data previously published on this topic has been limited, either gathered from a single surgeon or centre, or included only a single stem design. Methods: We reviewed the data from the Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry (AOANJRR), identified and analysed 143 stem breakages over a period of 16 years, covering 44 different stem designs. Results: Our data confirms previously published findings that risk factors for stem breakage include patient age at implantation of under 70, male gender, as well as the use of exchangeable necks. We found no association with initial diagnosis, or type of acetabular component implanted. We did however also find, excluding exchangeable neck designs, that after 4.5 years a cemented stem had a significantly higher risk of breakage then a cementless stem. Discussion: To our knowledge this is the 1st paper to suggest cemented fixation as a specific risk factor for stem breakage. The analysis of rare complications such as stem breakage is only possible through large data collection systems such as the AOANJRR. Whilst there have been recent advances in materials and manufacturing techniques, we recommend that surgeons are aware of all the specific risks when considering implant choices for individual patients.

Abstract:
This article presents the results of entrepreneurial risk analysis in a company providing agricultural services where a group of combine harvesters is used. An economic model was created in order to emulate the operational costs of the combine harvesters using MS Excel. Based on the results of the sensitivity analysis, the key factors were determined. For these factors, the risk of achieving the desired economic results was created subsequently. For the simulated situation, the key factors were activated within the range of ± 10% using a triangular distribution of these values. The result of this analysis showed that the most frequent value of CZK 389,692/year will be achieved with a probability of 49.42%. The overall outcome of the combine harvesters should be profitable.

Abstract:
Risk as, an uncertain event, or condition that if it occurs, has a positive or negative effect on a project's objective. Risk analysis is done via interviews and brainstorming considering the available and extensive experience of the involved stakeholders. Each identified risk is prioritized through a qualitative risk analysis process considering the probability of occurrence and the impact by project stakeholders. The results of risk management planning processes are used to update/re-plan the project management plan to consider the risk effect on the project. The biodiesel project is very profitable, the economic indicators for the project are very high, and the execution of such a project will strengthen the national economy. Therefore, a biodiesel risk analysis is performed to achieve security for the plant. The depletion of fossil fuel forces the world to look for alternative ways for energy production. The most common way is the production of biodiesel from waste cooking oil. This paper presents a detailed cost analysis for a biodiesel plant with capacity 100,000 ton/year.

Abstract:
This study seeks to validate the fact that there is a problem of absenteeism amongst employees in different workplaces and analyzes the impact of a persistent absenteeism by employees on the organization. Employees can be absent at work for various reasons or just deciding to be rebellious as a sign of registering some concerns especially associated with job dissatisfaction in the workplace. Absenteeism in the workplace is catastrophic as it hinders performance and results. Organisations, therefore, should put mechanisms in place that would be geared towards curbing this rampant attitude that should not be entertained. The researcher in this article, based on a narration and assembly of several kinds of literature, explore and expound the types of absenteeism and what influences employees to stay away from work as well as solution to arrest the situation. There is a need for management to countermeasure issues of absenteeism because they impact negatively to the finances, an image of the organization and derail progress too. A qualitative approach was considered when compiling this paper in order to analyse the topic.

Abstract:
One of the most prevalent human rights violations in the world is Gender-based violence. It knows no economic, national or social boundaries. Over 67% of women in Botswana have experienced abuse, which is more than double the global average. This research on gender-based violence in Botswana focuses on the cycle of violence within abusive relationships, why victims stay in abusive relationships, and what can be done to make them leave abusive relationships, how much they know about the effects of gender-based violence, as well as the coping mechanisms of gender-based violence. Gender-based violence occurs in many ways, and it seems to be more prevalent among married couples especially where the wife is not working, and the husband is the only breadwinner in the household. This research had been carried out in Botswana. A face-to-face interview had been conducted in Botswana randomly to see if people of Botswana are aware of this disturbing phenomenon. A visit to Kagisano Women’s shelter had been undertaken, to get first-hand information because it is where abused women are given shelter. The results of the research will assist in identifying support and resources that can be put in place to combat gender-based violence in Botswana.

Abstract:
In the article, a review of Russian and foreign literature was carried out, which allowed to consider the main standards of risk management and quantitative methods of risk assessment. The correlation-regression analysis of risks revealed the most significant risks affecting the efficiency of corporate innovation implementation in industrial companies. These include: misunderstanding the importance of innovation for the company; lack of financial resources for innovation; low level of support for the company’s top management for the introduction of innovative processes. A regression model of the impact of risks on the effectiveness of corporate innovation was built, which will predict the degree of impact of risks on the effectiveness of corporate innovation. Recommendations on improving the risk management system for various levels of innovative development of industrial companies are proposed, which are aimed at increasing the efficiency of introducing corporate innovations in industrial companies and ensuring a high level of competitiveness of companies.

Abstract:
The comprehensive risk analysis of a business such as farming entails questions on what is at stake, how important is the risk concern and how to deal with it. We performed a sequential mixed method, with the in-depth interviews in the first stage (n = 35), followed by a survey on the Flemish FADN (n = 614) in the second, to investigate the farmers’ risk perception, the attitudes towards risk and the perceived usefulness of the risk management strategies. We find that, rather than the short-term volatility in prices, the longer term co-evolution of expenses versus receipts is of a major concern to farmers, next to the land availability and the policy risks. Farmers are shown to be only slightly risk averse, rather risk neutral even. Further, our results suggest that farmers do not consider extensively studied risk management strategies such as contracts, futures and insurances, a valid option for their farm, and put more faith in internal strategies such as the debt management, the liquidity management and diversification. Last, risk management is to a substantial degree performed at the household level, rather than at the farm level, with strategies such as cutting the private expenses and the off-farm employment. These results hardly differ according to the farm and farmer characteristics.

Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to analyze the indicators and risk categories of contractor construction industry service providers. This research method uses literature review and is strengthened by Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The literature review aims to increase the understanding and find appropriate sources for research, which are obtained from sources that will be the basis of this research. From the literature review also obtained the risk factors to be studied. Furthermore, the results of the literature review are carried out in FGDs, to see their relevance to field needs. The selected FGD participants were construction service providers in the contractor sector. There are 2 risk factors to identify risk for construction service providers in the field of contractors in handling projects, namely risks in the management/office and risks in the field. Construction service providers in construction work need to carry out a detailed post cost analysis of risks at each stage of the construction business process in management and risk in the field by distinguishing between the pre-tender process, the construction process, and the maintenance period.

Nardi, Paolo, Calogera Pisano, Carlo Bassano, Fabio Bertoldo, Alessandro Cristian Salvati, Dario Buioni, Daniele Trombetti, et al. "Bentall Operation: Early Surgical Results, Seven-Year Outcomes, and Risk Factors Analysis." International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health 20, no. 1 (December 23, 2022): 212. http://dx.doi.org/10.3390/ijerph20010212.

Abstract:
Aim: To analyze early and mid-term outcomes of the Bentall operation. Methods: Two hundred and seventeen patients (mean age 65.6 ± 15.9 years, males/females 172/45) underwent Bentall operation in a 7-year period (January 2015–December 2021), on average, 30 Bentall operations occurred per year, using biological (n = 104) or mechanical (n = 113) valved conduits for the treatment of ascending aorta–aortic root aneurysms. Associate procedures were performed in 58 patients (26.7%); coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in 35 (16%). Mean follow-up was 55.2 ± 24 (median 60.2) months. Cox model analysis was used to assess risk factors, Kaplan–Meier and log-rank tests were used to assess different survival rates. Results: Operative mortality was 1.38%. At 7 years, survival, freedom from cardiac death, and event-free survival were 93% ± 2%, 99% ± 1%, and 81% ± 5%. NYHA class (p < 0.0001), trans-aortic valve mean (p < 0.0001) and maximum (p < 0.000) gradients, left ventricular hypertrophy (p < 0.05), and pulmonary arterial pressure (p = 0.002) significantly improved vs. preoperative values. Concomitant CABG during Bentall operation independently affected late outcomes (HR 1.9–2.3; p-values < 0.05). Late survival was affected by concomitant CABG (84% ± 8% vs. 95% ± 2%, p = 0.04), preoperative myocardial infarction (91% ± 9% vs. 97% ± 2%, p = 0.02), and biological vs. mechanical prostheses valved conduits (91% ± 9% vs. 95% ± 3%, p = 0.02). Event-free survival also was affected by concomitant CABG (62% ± 14% vs. 85% ± 5%, p = 0.005) and biological prostheses (78% ± 8% vs. 84% ± 6%, p = 0.06). Freedom from endocarditis–redo operation was 83% ± 9% for biological prostheses vs. 89% ± 6% for mechanical prostheses (p = 0.49). Conclusions: Low rates of operative mortality and late complications make Bentall operation the gold standard for the treatment of ascending aorta–aortic root aneurysms. Coronary ischemic disease affects late outcomes. Biological prostheses should be preferred for the elderly.

Abstract:
Dairy consumption has been associated with decreased risk of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in previous studies, but the association may be different according to each type of dairy products and its subgroups. Thus, we conducted an updated meta-analysis of observational studies to examine the association between various dairy products and risk of MetS. The PubMed and Web of Science databases were searched for eligible studies published up to February 2021. In addition, we included unpublished results from Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2013–2018, including 23,319 Korean adults and the elderly. A total of 35 studies (12 cohort studies and 25 cross-sectional studies) with 398,877 subjects were included in the meta-analysis. The pooled relative risks (RR) of MetS for the highest versus lowest categories of dairy consumption was 0.80 [95% confidence interval (CI): 0.72–0.88]. For the type of dairy products, there were also significant inverse associations with milk (RR: 0.83; 95% CI: 0.78–0.89) and yogurt consumption (RR: 0.89; 95% CI: 0.83–0.95). For cheese consumption, however, no significant association was found (RR: 0.98; 95% CI: 0.86–1.11). Our findings suggest that milk and yogurt consumption is inversely associated with the risk of MetS, but not cheese consumption.
