Abstract:
A new classification of kelyphitic rims on garnets from xenoliths of peridotitic and eclogitic parageneses of the mantle section under the Udachnaya-East kimberlite pipe (Yakutia) is presented. Five types of rims are identified: Rim1 develops between garnet and olivine/pyroxene (or rim2) and is composed of high-alumina pyroxenes, spinel, phlogopite; rim2, the coarse grain part of rim1, is located between rim1 and olivine/pyroxene, and mainly consists of phlogopite and less aluminous larger pyroxenes and spinel; rim3 develops between garnet and kimberlite, and presents with phlogopite and Fe-Ti spinel; rim4 sometimes presents instead of rim1/rim2 and consists of zoned high-Cr phlogopite with rare fine grains of chromium spinel; rim5, a “pocket” between garnet and rim1, is represented by microcrystalline aggregates of clinopyroxene, mica, spinel, calcite, and feldspar in different variations. Rims 1, 2, and 3 are typical for garnets of all studied parageneses. Rims 4 and 5 develop on high-Cr subcalcic garnets of the most depleted peridotites. Reactions of the formation of all types of rims are given in the article. Each type of kelyphite demonstrates a clear enrichment with a certain component: Rim1—MgO and alkalis; rim2—TiO2; rim3—FeO and TiO2; rim4—Cr2O3; and rim5—CaO, suggesting the multistage injection of different components by mantle fluid.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
In order to improve the reliability and accuracy of inertial navigation system in some navigation applications, the redundant inertial measurement unit (RIMU) is used. In this study, an optimal sensor fusion is introduced, and drift compensation based on this sensor fusion is presented subsequently. And the sensor fusion and drift compensation are combined into one algorithm. In this algorithm, faulty drift sensors are not isolated, but are compensated. So the redundant inertial navigation system can maintain systems redundancy. An errors model of RIMU was derived firstly, the optimal sensor fusion and the drift compensation algorithm were introduced secondly, and several simulations were carried out and proved effective of the proposed algorithm lastly.

Almond, Peter C. "Soils and geomorphology of a lowland rimu forest managed for sustainable timber production." Lincoln University, 1997. http://hdl.handle.net/10182/1782.

Full text
Abstract:
Saltwater Forest is a Dacrydium cupressinum-dominated lowland forest covering 9000 ha in south Westland, South Island, New Zealand. Four thousand hectares is managed for sustainable production of indigenous timber. The aim of this study was to provide an integrated analysis of soils, soil-landform relationships, and soil-vegetation relationships at broad and detailed scales. The broad scale understandings provide a framework in which existing or future studies can be placed and the detailed studies elucidate sources of soil and forest variability. Glacial landforms dominate. They include late Pleistocene lateral, terminal and ablation moraines, and outwash aggradation and degradation terraces. Deposits and landforms from six glacial advances have been recognised ranging from latest Last (Otira) Glaciation to Penultimate (Waimea) Glaciation. The absolute ages of landforms were established by analysis of the thickness and soil stratigraphy of loess coverbeds, augmented with radiocarbon dating and phytolith and pollen analysis. In the prevailing high rainfall of Westland soil formation is rapid. The rate of loess accretion in Saltwater Forest (ca. 30 mm ka⁻¹) has been low enough that soil formation and loess accretion took place contemporaneously. Soils formed in this manner are known as upbuilding soils. The significant difference between upbuilding pedogenesis and pedogenesis in a topdown sense into an existing sediment body is that each subsoil increment of an upbuilding soil has experienced processes of all horizons above. In Saltwater Forest subsoils of upbuilding soils are strongly altered because they have experienced the extremely acid environment of the soil surface at some earlier time. Some soil chronosequence studies in Westland have included upbuilding soils formed in loess as the older members of the sequence. Rates and types of processes inferred from these soils should be reviewed because upbuilding is a different pedogenic pathway to topdown pedogenesis. Landform age and morphology were used as a primary stratification for a study of the soil pattern and nature of soil variability in the 4000 ha production area of Saltwater Forest. The age of landforms (> 14 ka) and rapid soil formation mean that soils are uniformly strongly weathered and leached. Soils include Humic Organic Soils, Perch-gley Podzols, Acid Gley Soils, Allophanic Brown Soils, and Orthic or Pan Podzols. The major influence on the nature of soils is site hydrology which is determined by macroscale features of landforms (slope, relief, drainage density), mesoscale effects related to position on landforms, and microscale influences determined by microtopography and individual tree effects. Much of the soil variability arises at microscales so that it is not possible to map areas of uniform soils at practical map scales. The distribution of soil variability across spatial scales, in relation to the intensity of forest management, dictates that it is most appropriate to map soil complexes with boundaries coinciding with landforms. Disturbance of canopy trees is an important agent in forest dynamics. The frequency of forest disturbance in the production area of Saltwater Forest varies in a systematic way among landforms in accord with changes in abundance of different soils. The frequency of forest turnover is highest on landforms with the greatest abundance of extremely poorly-drained Organic Soils. As the abundance of better-drained soils increases the frequency of forest turnover declines. Changes in turnover frequency are reflected in the mean size and density of canopy trees (Dacrydium cupressinum) among landforms. Terrace and ablation moraine landforms with the greatest abundance of extremely poorly-drained soils have on average the smallest trees growing most densely. The steep lateral moraines, characterised by well drained soils, have fewer, larger trees. The changes manifested at the landform scale are an integration of processes operating over much shorter range as a result of short-range soil variability. The systematic changes in forest structure and turnover frequency among landforms and soils have important implications for sustainable forest management.

The interest of cars as a hobby has been increasing over a long period of time and is continously growing stronger. There is also professional business garages that offer help to enthusiasts. This even though modern cars is getting more and more complicated to work at and give a personal touch. But one thing that still is as easy to change now, as it was 80 years ago, is to replace the wheels. Furthermore, the vast majority of car enthusiast agree to that "the weels makes the car". That means a great deal of the car´s feeling lies in the rims. The car scene is, as many other interests, depending on fashion and constantly demanding news because the customers always strive to be unique.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Thanks to Greek influence, firstly through some individuals, and after that through conquests, Romans have come to contact with books and libraries. The first Roman libraries were private collections that belong to the military commanders and to the members of higher social class. Development of public libraries starts at the end of the 1st century BC with founding of Library of Asinius Pollio. In this work it would be pointed out on when, how and where this particular library was found. In addition, it would present overview of library collection and library staff. At the end in the article services that library has provided to its clients will be presented, as well as its influence and importance for the work of other public libraries in Ancient Rome.

Abstract:
This report details studies conducted by Transportation Technology Center, Inc. (TTCI), a subsidiary of the Association of American Railroads (AAR), to determine the causes and behavior of shattered rim defects in wheels. Shattered rim defects are the result of large fatigue cracks that propagate roughly parallel to the wheel tread surface. They form and grow 1/2 to 3/4 inch (12–20 mm) below the tread surface. Once a shattered rim crack is formed it will grow under normal rolling loads. Therefore, the prevention of shattered rims is best accomplished by preventing crack initiation. Shattered rims tend to occur in either relatively new wheels or those that are near their condemning limit. Recent changes have been made to ultrasonic test requirements in AAR Specification M-107/208, “Wheels, Carbon Steel,” to reduce the acceptable size of discontinuities. This will help reduce the occurrence of some shattered rims, but will not prevent the formation of all of them. Ultrasonic testing of returned wheels would be effective in reducing the incidence of shattered rims in wheels with thinner rims.

Abstract This paper examines risk and rewards of co-development of giant reservoir has gas cap concurrently produce with oil rim. The study focus mainly on the subsurface aspects of developing the oil rim with gas cap and impact recoveries on both the oil rim and gas cap. The primary objective of the project was to propose options to develop oil rims and gas cap reservoir aiming to maximize the recovery while ensuring that the gas and condensate production to the network are not jeopardized and the existing facility constraints are accounted. Below are the specific project objectives for each of the reservoirs: To evaluate the heterogeneities of the reservoir using available surveillance information data.To evaluate the reservoir physics and define the depleted oil rims current Gas oil contact and Water Oil Contact using the available surveillance information and plan mitigate reservoir management plan.To propose strategies in co-development plan with increase in oil rim recovery without impact on gas cap recovery. To propose the optimum Artificial methods to extended wells life by minimize the drawn down and reduce bottom head pressure. To propose methods to reduce the well head pressure to reduce back pressure on the wells. The methodology adopted in this study is based on the existing full field compositional reservoir simulation model for proposing different strategical co-development scenario: Auto gas lift Pilot implementation phase.Reactivate using Auto gas lift all the in-active wells.Propose the optimum wells drilling and completion design, like MRC, ERD and using ICV to control water and gas breakthrough.Proposing different field oil production plateauPropose different water injection scheme The study preliminary findings that extended reach drilling (ERD) wells were proposed, The ability to control gas and water breakthrough along the production section will be handled very well by deploying the advanced flow control valves, reactivation of existing Oil rim wells with Artificial lift increases Oil Rim recovery factor, and optimize offtake of gas cap and oil rim is crucial for increase the recovery factories of oil Rim and gas cap.

Abstract:
A damping strategy for blisks of turbomachinery involving a friction rim is investigated. These rims, located in grooves underside the wheel of the blisks, are held in by centrifugal loads and the energy is dissipated when relative motions between the rim and the disk occur. A method of dynamical analysis of a cyclic blisk nonlinearly coupled with a split rim is presented: the steady-state response being calculated using an multi-harmonic balance method. Numerical simulations on a lumped-parameter model are presented for several damper characteristics and several excitation configurations. From these results, the performance of this damping strategy is discussed and some design guidelines are given. Finally the influence of mistuning on the damping performances is analysed.

Ore mineralogy, pyrite chemistry, and S isotope systematics of magmatic-hydrothermal Au mineralization associated with the Mooshla Intrusive Complex (MIC), Doyon-Bousquet-LaRonde mining camp, Abitibi greenstone belt, Québec. Natural Resources Canada/CMSS/Information Management, 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.4095/328985.

Abstract:
The Mooshla Intrusive Complex (MIC) is an Archean polyphase magmatic body located in the Doyon-Bousquet-LaRonde (DBL) mining camp of the Abitibi greenstone belt, Québec. The MIC is spatially associated with numerous gold (Au)-rich VMS, epizonal 'intrusion-related' Au-Cu vein systems, and shear zone-hosted (orogenic?) Au deposits. To elucidate genetic links between deposits and the MIC, mineralized samples from two of the epizonal 'intrusion-related' Au-Cu vein systems (Doyon and Grand Duc Au-Cu) have been characterized using a variety of analytical techniques. Preliminary results indicate gold (as electrum) from both deposits occurs relatively late in the systems as it is primarily observed along fractures in pyrite and gangue minerals. At Grand Duc gold appears to have formed syn- to post-crystallization relative to base metal sulphides (e.g. chalcopyrite, sphalerite, pyrrhotite), whereas base metal sulphides at Doyon are relatively rare. The accessory ore mineral assemblage at Doyon is relatively simple compared to Grand Duc, consisting of petzite (Ag3AuTe2), calaverite (AuTe2), and hessite (Ag2Te), while accessory ore minerals at Grand Duc are comprised of tellurobismuthite (Bi2Te3), volynskite (AgBiTe2), native Te, tsumoite (BiTe) or tetradymite (Bi2Te2S), altaite (PbTe), petzite, calaverite, and hessite. Pyrite trace element distribution maps from representative pyrite grains from Doyon and Grand Duc were collected and confirm petrographic observations that Au occurs relatively late. Pyrite from Doyon appears to have been initially trace-element poor, then became enriched in As, followed by the ore metal stage consisting of Au-Ag-Te-Bi-Pb-Cu enrichment and lastly a Co-Ni-Se(?) stage enrichment. Grand Duc pyrite is more complex with initial enrichments in Co-Se-As (Stage 1) followed by an increase in As-Co(?) concentrations (Stage 2). The ore metal stage (Stage 3) is indicated by another increase in As coupled with Au-Ag-Bi-Te-Sb-Pb-Ni-Cu-Zn-Sn-Cd-In enrichment. The final stage of pyrite growth (Stage 4) is represented by the same element assemblage as Stage 3 but at lower concentrations. Preliminary sulphur isotope data from Grand Duc indicates pyrite, pyrrhotite, and chalcopyrite all have similar delta-34S values (~1.5 1 permille) with no core-to-rim variations. Pyrite from Doyon has slightly higher delta-34S values (~2.5 1 permille) compared to Grand Duc but similarly does not show much core-to-rim variation. At Grand Duc, the occurrence of Au concentrating along the rim of pyrite grains and associated with an enrichment in As and other metals (Sb-Ag-Bi-Te) shares similarities with porphyry and epithermal deposits, and the overall metal association of Au with Te and Bi is a hallmark of other intrusion-related gold systems. The occurrence of the ore metal-rich rims on pyrite from Grand Duc could be related to fluid boiling which results in the destabilization of gold-bearing aqueous complexes. Pyrite from Doyon does not show this inferred boiling texture but shares characteristics of dissolution-reprecipitation processes, where metals in the pyrite lattice are dissolved and then reconcentrated into discrete mineral phases that commonly precipitate in voids and fractures created during pyrite dissolution.
