We have only used from the vocabulary of al-askari the key terms which correspond with the major notions of the arabic poetic and rhetoric, notions studied by oth other scientists : philologist, literary critics mentionned by al-askari. Full textThe purpose of this study is to depict poetic as well a rhetoric features of abd al-qahir's two books : asrar and dala'il. We should, on the one hand, trace his fundamental concepts such as "rhetoric" "poetic" "eloquence". . . While putting the emphasis on their nature and the varing relations existing among them, on the basis of their meaning. On the other hand, we should describe the spheres which have langely preoccupied abd al-qahir's thought, especially, the definition, classification of tropes and figures of speech in rhetoric arabic

Full textWhile Arab grammarians and critics have, up to the fifth/eleventh century, only offered scattered and incomplete accounts of the ma'nā, Ğurğānı̄ (d. 471/1078) has built a coherent theory on its emergence in discourse. In Dalā'il al-i'ğāz and Asrār al-balāga, Ğurğānı̄ breaks with the lafẓ/ma'nā dichotomy and uses this polysemic term (ma'nā) to single out three distinct semantic categories. First of all, the word designates the potential notions that refer either to the specific meanings of words when taken out of context, to grammatical categories, to signifying intentions or to literary themes and patterns. The word also relates to expressive processes that actualize the potential ma'ānı̄, using specific choices of vocabulary, syntactic constructions, and creation of tropes that are then integrated to the text. Finally, this concept refers to the different meanings re-constructed by the reader/listener who understands, judges and appreciates the adab texts. Properly interpreted, these texts fulfil communication, artistic and ethical functions. By explaining, thanks to the dominant part played by reason, the functioning of these ma'nā categories, Ğurğānı̄ succeeds in establishing an exhaustive theory on the production and reception of ideas. Such achievement makes him the founding father, in the Arabic tradition, of the "science of ideas"

Full textThis thesis falls within the framework of Natural Language Processing. The problems of automatic summarization of Arabic documents which was approached, in this thesis, are based on two points. The first point relates to the criteria used to determine the essential content to extract. The second point focuses on the means to express the essential content extracted in the form of a text targeting the user potential needs. In order to show the feasibility of our approach, we developed the "L.A.E" system, based on a hybrid approach which combines a symbolic analysis with a numerical processing. The evaluation results are encouraging and prove the performance of the proposed hybrid approach. These results showed, initially, the applicability of the approach in the context of mono documents without restriction as for their topics (Education, Sport, Science, Politics, Interaction, etc), their content and their volume. They also showed the importance of the machine learning in the phase of classification and selection of the sentences forming the final extract

Full textHe thesis analyses the commentary of the Psalm of Moses ben Samuel Ha-Kohen Ibn Chiquitilla, born in Cordoba around the beginning of the 11th century. The thesis studies the incorporation of Qurʾânic-Arabic hermeneutics in the exegetical methods of Ibn Chiquitilla and situates it in the intellectual context of the time. Not being a historical analysis, it questions whether there is a connection between the hermeneutic interest of grammarians and rhetoricians in the form-meaning dichotomy and communicative pragmatic linguistics It analyses their introduction into rabbinic exegesis by Iberian exegetes forming what has become the peshat method of exegesis. This term, not found in Ibn Chiquitilla, is implied by his methods and his interest in grammatical form and meaning. We propose to follow the Arabic grammatical tradition according to which Ibn Chiquitilla does not confuse meaning with grammar or syntax, but accepts it as part of a received tradition. Meaning operates in separate areas of grammar, but the two come together to explain the intent behind the text. This idea is expanded to include grammatical and lexical deviation and/or figurative language. We ask whether the origins of these deviations can be traced to the rabbinical exegesis of the Talmudic period as well as contemporary philosophical ideas in medieval Iberia and the Islamic world in general. In doing so, we try to prove that Iberian exegetes are less about innovation and more about introducing new methods of exegesis into medieval Rabbinic Judaism
Guellati, Amel. "La notion d’adab chez Ibn Qutayba : étude générique et éclairage comparatiste." Thesis, Paris 4, 2010. http://www.theses.fr/2010PA040106.
Full textThe objectives of this thesis were twofold : the first was to restore to the work of Ibn Qutayba its overall coherence ; with this primary objective in view, it was necessary to elucidate its literary context : adab literature. The analysis is conducted firstly in terms of the author-function both in the 'Uyûn al-Akhbâr and in texts similar to it, and secondly in terms of the rhetorical function wich allies it with the Medieval exempla collections of the Western tradition. Drawing on rhetorical and stylistic analysis of the Prologue of the 'Uyûn al-Akhbâr, as well as on a transversal reading of the introductions to the three primary adab works : the Adab al-Kâtib, the 'Uyûn al-Akhbâr and the Ma'ârif of Ibn Qutayba, it was possible to confront the original with critical interpretations of the work. Annotated translations of the introductions to two of these three sister works (the 'Uyûn al-Akhbâr and the Ma'ârif) accompany this study
