Driessen, Simone. "Celebrating nostalgia or critiquing naivety: Reading pop music reunions through discourses of the fan life course." Journal of Fandom Studies 7, no. 2 (June 1, 2019): 133–50. http://dx.doi.org/10.1386/jfs.7.2.133_1.

Full text
Abstract:
This study explores how fans give meaning to pop music reunions through the lens of the life course. It does so through a content analysis of forum comments about TV series The Big Reunion, which reunites chart-topping music acts from the past decades. The fans interpret The Big Reunion in three modes closely related to their life-course position: first, now young adults, the fans read the reunion as a nostalgic phenomenon. Second, they consider the reunion as an ironic event. Third, they question The Big Reunion’s formula by reflecting on it through the prism of their current position in the life course. These readings reveal how the fans celebrate a nostalgic reflection on the pop acts of their youth; yet also offer a critique on their former, ‘naïve’ teenage/child-selves.

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to help therapists to increase their understanding of the powerful psychological underpinnings of adoption reunions. It outlines significant psychological and interactional issues for people searching and engaged in reunion as they attempt to weave new relationships with one another against the background of their genetic, adoptive and relinquishment histories. Altering expectations and relinquishing long-held fantasies can be a very difficult task for all members of the adoption triangle. The paper argues that a lack of psychological understanding of adoption realities, combined with superficial therapeutic practice in supporting those involved in reunions, have been significant factors in many unsatisfactory reunion outcomes in New Zealand.

Abstract:
"Abstract: The Baptist cult had organized the following congresses: Pre-Congress of 1919 (Buteni), Congress of 1920 (Buteni), 1922 (Oradea), 1928 (Curtici), 1931 (Talpoş), 1932 (Timişoara), 1935 (Arad). Between 1932 and 1934, so-called fractional congresses were organized. The congress of 1935 in Arad is labeled as the congress of union and reorganization because in 1932 the Union of Christian Baptist Churches in Romania split. In this study I will analyze both the reunion process or reunion attempts, the motivation of the reunion and the description of the reunion congress. Attempts and initiatives to reunite the two Baptist unions have been identified both within the country, by the Romanian Baptist diaspora and by the World Alliance of Baptists. The motives for the reunion were related to the rights of the Baptists, their desire for peace, and their spiritual duty to spread the gospel. The strong characters of the two unions could not be overcame except by the sufferings of the persecuted Baptists, such as raising awareness of the death of one of the most meek, industrious, and wise, and humble people of the Baptists of that time — Theodor Sida. In Arad, the Baptists organized events in sumptuous buildings since 1929 - the ordination of Lucaşa Sezonov to the Red Church, 1930 - Southeast European Baptist Congress in the Arad Theater building, 1935 - Congress of the reunion of Baptists at the White Cross Hotel and 1945 - Congress Romanian Baptist Union at the Cultural Palace in Arad."

Abstract:
This study aims to find out how the reunion culture is from the perspective of regional tourism development. The method used is a qualitative descriptive research method where data is obtained from interviews and observations of the author at reunions that have been attended, as well as by examining research related to reunions and tourism development. The study results show that school reunions, usually held by school alums at the school or somewhere in the area where the school is located, can be utilized to develop tourism in the area. Alums can be empowered to become actors who can promote tourism objects in the area to people in other areas, become motivators by providing innovative thoughts to develop regional tourism, also become facilitators who provide an understanding of tourism in the area, as well as being mediators by capturing relationships and interested investors even become investors for the development and development of regional tourism.
