Abstract:
This article demonstrates that many refugees in Australia are deliberately denied a realistic prospect of achieving family reunion. It then explains why, in cases not involving child refugees in Australia, Australia has significant room to deny any international obligation to enable refugee family reunion. Finally, it discusses what might have been, if international legal history had played out a little differently.

Abstract:
So begins one of the most engaging, and variously controversial, musical scenes in Euripides. The Messenger's narrative of the Phantom Helen's disappearance has proved to Menelaus that the Helen standing before him is the real Helen, altogether innocent of elopement to Troy, from whom he has been sundered for seventeen laborious years. The ensuing embrace is developed in a duet (Hel. 625–59) which is followed without a break by the so-called ‘Interrogation’ (660–97), the two together constituting the so-called ‘Recognition Duo’.

Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to present the functioning of contemporary invented tradition on the example of the Feret’s family reunion. The article contains the definitions of tradition, invented tradition, collective memory, cultural memory and memory space. It also describes the relationships between tradition and globalization. The analysis of the reunion depicts a construction of invented tradition and includes its features; it has been based on the family chronicle, the anthem and the presentation of the family’s history. This particular invented tradition has built a social identity and composed a response to the problems of the present world.

Abstract:
SUMMARYLeptospirosis is the major infectious disease on Reunion Island but little is known about the animal reservoir. We conducted a wide-ranging survey that included samples from 574 animals belonging to 12 species. The seroprevalence and prevalence of renal carriage varied greatly depending on the species, with the highest seroprevalence (79·5%) found in Norway rats, and the lowest (13·2%) in tenrecs. The renal carriage rate ranged from 84·6% in mice to 0% in tenrecs. Our results suggest that rodents are the most important reservoirs of leptospirosis on Reunion Island. The epidemiological role that animals play in human infection is discussed. For the first time, we quantified the renal concentration of leptospires in ten naturally infected mammals. The history of Reunion Island colonization probably explains why the circulating Leptospira serogroups were similar to those found in Europe. Our study provides evidence that will help implement preventive measures against this zoonosis.

Abstract:
In 1975 an unusual family reunion was held at Children's Hospital in Oakland, California. The large Joseph family had gathered for the first time. One of their members had finally taken the family secret to the National Genetics Foundation and asked for help with the unique disease that for many years had been passed in their family from one generation to the next. The National Genetics Foundation sent a team of neurologists and geneticists to the reunion and held the first screening clinic for what became known as Joseph's Disease, and later as Machado-Joseph disease (MJD). Diagnosis of those afflicted with the disease was made from neurological examinations, and at-risk status was determined from family history and genealogical analysis.

Abstract:
Background Dengue is the world’s most prevalent mosquito-borne viral disease. It is endemic in many tropical and subtropical countries and represents a significant global health burden. The first reports of dengue virus (DENV) circulation in the South West Indian Ocean (SWIO) islands date back to the early 1940s; however, an increase in DENV circulation has been reported in the SWIO in recent years. The aim of this review is to trace the history of DENV in the SWIO islands using available records from the Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mayotte, Seychelles, and Reunion. We focus in particular on the most extensive data from Reunion Island, highlighting factors that may explain the observed increasing incidence, and the potential shift from one-off outbreaks to endemic dengue transmission. Methods Following the PRISMA guidelines, the literature review focused queried different databases using the keywords “dengue” or “Aedes albopictus” combined with each of the following SWIO islands the Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mayotte, Seychelles, and Reunion. We also compiled case report data for dengue in Mayotte and Reunion in collaboration with the regional public health agencies in these French territories. References and data were discarded when original sources were not identified. We examined reports of climatic, anthropogenic, and mosquito-related factors that may influence the maintenance of dengue transmission independently of case importation linked to travel. Findings and conclusions The first report of dengue circulation in the SWIO was documented in 1943 in the Comoros. Then not until an outbreak in 1976 to 1977 that affected approximately 80% of the population of the Seychelles. DENV was also reported in 1977 to 1978 in Reunion with an estimate of nearly 30% of the population infected. In the following 40-year period, DENV circulation was qualified as interepidemic with sporadic cases. However, in recent years, the region has experienced uninterrupted DENV transmission at elevated incidence. Since 2017, Reunion witnessed the cocirculation of 3 serotypes (DENV-1, DENV-2 and DENV-3) and an increased number of cases with severe forms and deaths. Reinforced molecular and serological identification of DENV serotypes and genotypes circulating in the SWIO as well as vector control strategies is necessary to protect exposed human populations and limit the spread of dengue.

Abstract:
The Reunion 212 action is a socio-religious movement that has generated controversial responses in various circles of society. The problem is caused by the reporting of every online media which is not always neutral and coherent with the existing social reality. In addition, online media are often used to construct a group discourse to the public. This study aims to uncover the motives for reporting the 212 Reunion Action from the online news portal Republika. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach and uses critical discourse analysis by Teun A. Van Dijk. The data is taken from Republika's news coverage from November to December about the 212 Reunion Action. The findings of the research show that Republika does not publish the news of the 212 Reunion Action group as a whole. Some of the information that is not uploaded in the narrative of the news text is of propaganda value which aims to form the group's image and as an accommodation effort to reduce the negative public response and the discourse is built positive views. However, the inconsistency of the news has shown the assumption of a shift in the media as a source of information into the media as a space for the existence and contestation of a group. the recommendation is that media repositioning is needed to open a wider space so that the media can again become a source of information for the community that is free of elements or independent media.

Abstract:
The years that followed the return of Alsace and Lorraine to France after World War I proved that reunion was a complicated and painful process. The potential for misunderstanding, if not outright conflict, between Alsatians and French policy-makers was from the outset grossly underestimated by virtually everyone on both sides. Alsatians saw no incompatibility between the wish to preserve their regional cultural personality, or particularism, and their loyalty to France. The believers in the ‘Republic one and indivisible’, however, did. The preservation of Alsatian particularism, especially in language and religion, was regarded by French politicians as the perpetuation of German cultural and political influence. The end of the armistice celebrations and the introduction of a transitional administration brought the realisation that the cultural gulf between France and Alsace, widened by years of separation following the Treaty of Frankfurt of 1871, could not be legislated away. With few exceptions, the people on both sides of the Rhine who welcomed the end of the annexation had assumed that the commitment to reunion was sufficient to make it a success.1 This belief was nowhere more rapidly disproven than in the matter of religion. The enforcement of French legislation ending the role of the state in overseeing the congregations became the flash-point between the Catholic majority in Alsace and the Third Republic.

Abstract:
The relationship between intellectual secularization and the writing of academic history has long been one of the major neglected themes in British historiography, and its unexamined presuppositions are explored here in relation to the religious history of the eighteenth century. A great deal of the history of eighteenth-century religion has been written from a confessional standpoint, and this has served further to marginalize discussion of the subject in a period of history concerning which secular interpretations continue to prevail. A reunion of the religious and the secular is a major desideratum in the writing of eighteenth-century history, and this applies not only to historians of religion but also, a fortiori, to political, social, and cultural historians. The perspectives offered by such historians are critically examined, and the need for them to take seriously the integral part of religious history in the broader history of the period is emphasized accordingly.
