Denne artikel er baseret på ph.d.-afhandlingen Herrens Stridsmand. Retorisk kritikaf N.F.S. Grundtvigs teologiske polemik i perioden 1810-1825. Afhandlingen eren undersøgelse af Grundtvigs polemiske retorik i den såkaldt ‘bibelkristne’ periodeaf forfatterskabet, særligt årene 1810-1815. Undersøgelsen angår både denpolemik, der findes på tværs af genrer, og den egentlig polemiske genre stridsskriftet,som har været noget overset i forskningen. Jeg har valgt at udformeundersøgelsen som en retorisk analyse og kritik, fordi det moderne retorikfag haret stort og udviklet begrebsapparat, som er velegnet til at analysere de elementer,der er på spil i polemiske tekster: forfatterens selvfremstilling, publikumskonstruktion,argumentation og stil.1

Til Den Anden Nordiske Konference for Retorikforskning i København i maj 2003 var Michael Leff indbudt som særlig gæsteforelæser over det ene konferencetema: retorisk kritik. Vi bringer her hans foredrag i oversættelse af Lisa Storm Villadsen. Med udgangspunkt i en analyse af Martin Luther Kings “Letter from Birmingham Jail” argumenterer Michael Leff for en meget tekstnær læsemåde, hvor analysen så at sige bliver en teori om sig selv og den givne tekst. Analysen viser således, hvordan Kings tekst afspejler de tanker og værdier, som den samtidig formulerer.

Abstract:

Abstrak Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami secara komprehensif strategi retorika dalam wacana opini surat kabar. Metode yang digunakan adalah anaksis isi (content analysis). Data dikumpulkan melalui seleksi pada wacana opini Surat Kabar Kompas mulai Januari sampai dengan Desember terbitan tahun 2013 dengan topik yang sama, penuks berbeda. Berdasarkan penektian yang telah dilakukan dalam wacana opini Surat Kabar Kompas penuks opini cenderung menjelaskan sehingga ragam yang dipilih berupa ragam eksplanasi meski opini termasuk eksposisi. Strategi retorika yang digunakan penuks cenderung menggunakan pembenaran (46,4%) yang lebih bersifat subjektif dibanding strategi data yang paling sedikit digunakan (3,6%). Kata Kunci: strategi retorika, wacana opini, eksposisi, eksplanasi. Abstract The aim of the research was to describe the rhetorical strategy using in Kompas opinion texts comprehensively. The content analysis using to analyse the data, the opinion text from Kompas January to December 2013 from different writer with the same topic. The result showed that writer tend to using explanation rather than exposition. The rhetorical strategy mostly that writer using was warrant (46,4%) and very title using data strategy (3,6%). Dette essay fremsætter en teori om menneskelig kommunikation baseret på forestillingen om mennesket som homo narrans. Det sammenligner og kontrasterer dette syn med det traditionelle rationelle perspektiv om symbolsk interaktion. Brugbarheden af det narrative paradigme og dets medfølgende forståelse af fornuft og rationalitet demonstreres igennem en udvidet analyse af nøgleaspekter af den igangværende debat om atomkrig og via en kort anvendelse på Gilgamesh-eposet. Abstract:

Para os juristas, relacionar o Direito com a Literatura é importante. A conjução destes dois elementos possibilita corroer a dogmática jurídica, dessacralizar e restituir o direito à sua própria medida e à medida da ética. Aquilo que, na verdade, a literatura ensina acerca da estrutura abstratamente codificada do direito é a inexistência de leis gerais na experiência vivida. Disso resulta que as condenações, assim como as absolvições, sejam inevitavelmente imperfeitas: somos todos, de algum modo, culpados, mas também, segundo outra perspectiva, somos todos inocentes. E se os decretos de culpabilidade absoluta mostram-se inadequados nas obras de Proust, Musil e Hofmannsthal, o mesmo ocorre no universo de Kafka e de Zola. A esta primeira desconstrução do direito se acrescenta uma segunda, ainda mais radical, relativa não mais aos seus limites, mas à própria essência do direito. O sistema normativo não consegue classificar em suas categorias uma realidade humana que escapa à ordem preestabelecida, como também faz fronteira com a violência criminal, embora ambiguamente se situe no pólo contrário a ela. Nesse sentido, a intersecção entre direito e literatura ensina que as situações individuais são sempre colocadas naquele caleidoscópio social, cultural, histórico, econômico, que condiciona os nossos atos não menos do que a nossa vontade.

La congiunzione dei due elementi permette di corrodere la dogmatica giuridica, desacralizzare e restituire il diritto alla propria misura e alla misura dell’etica. Ciò che, infatti, la letteratura insegna, rispetto all’assetto astrattamente codificato del diritto, è l’inesistenza di leggi generali nell’esperienza vissuta. Ne consegue che le condanne, come le assoluzioni, sono inevitabilmente imperfette: siamo tutti in qualche modo colpevoli, ma anche, secondo diverso angolo di lettura, tutti innocenti. E se i decreti di colpevolezza assoluta appaiono inadeguati nelle opere di Proust, Musil e Hofmannsthal, non diversa è la situazione che si respira nell’universo di Kafka e di Zola. A questa prima decostruzione del diritto se ne aggiunge una seconda, ancor più radicale, relativa non più ai suoi limiti, ma alla stessa essenza del diritto. Non solo il sistema normativo non riesce ad incasellare nelle proprie griglie una realtà umana sfuggente ad un ordine prefissato, ma, tutt’altro che situarsi al polo opposto della violenza criminale, confina ambiguamente con essa. In questo senso, l’intersezione fra diritto e letteratura insegna che le situazioni individuali vanno sempre calate in quel caleidoscopio sociale, culturale, storico, economico, che condiziona i nostri atti non meno della nostra volontà.

Abstract:

The aim of this paper is to describe the position of the Swedish welfare state within the shaping of a Swedish national identity. This is done through the study of Mångkulturåret 2006, and its rhetorical context. The point of departure is that history is formed continuously in current speech and a text analytical method has been used. Mångkulturåret was issued by the Department of Culture as an extended perspective of Cultural politics. The rhetoric used in the official document Agenda för Mångkultur is analyzed through a comparison with earlier official documents on the field of multiculturalism and integration. This is done with the aid of a model composed of three rhetorical opposition fields. Charles Taylor’s theory ’Politics of recognitions’ and the criticism towards this theory are the main theoretical references. The politics proclaimed for Mångkulturåret 2006 included elements similar to ”The politics of recognition” and the rhetoric was linked to former documents on the field. The logics of mångkulturpolitiken withheld the idea of national identity through the definite exclusion of immigrants. Although not ethnically or culturally homogeneous they were assumed to have similar interests and a common identity due to their “otherness” (olikhet). The non-ethnics were recognized by their broken Swedish and their different appearance and were to be acknowledged for these traits as well as their assumed geographical location, their suburbness (förortssvenskhet). The rhetorical expression "mångfald” (multitude) was used to withhold a notion of difference between ethnical Swedish citizens and non-ethnics. (“utomsvenskar”)

Abstract:

Syftet med denna uppsats är att, med hjälp av en retorisk analys, se om sociala medier för med sig ett mer ledigt och talspråkligt språkbruk eller om företag håller samma språkliga standard oavsett plattform. Undersökningen tittar på hur företagen Coop Sverige och ICA Sverige kommunicerar på sociala medier genom att jämföra tre texter från deras Instagram med två texter från deras webbsidor. Resultaten av denna undersökning visade att båda företagen använde sig av ett mer talspråkligt språkbruk på Instagram jämfört med texter från deras webbsida, som höll en högre standard av språkbruk. Mina slutsatser blev att företagen Coop Sverige och ICA Sverige båda valde att använda ett enklare och mer talspråkligt språkbruk på Instagram jämfört med på sina webbsidor. Urvalet av texter att analysera kunde däremot varit större och tagna från fler företag i olika branscher för att ge ett mer pålitligt resultat.

Abstract:

This report aims to provide its’ readers with knowledge of the Woman Power symbol and the rhetorical situation surrounding the creation of it. It explains how the symbol managed to become a representation of the Women’s Power Movement by explaining the relationship between its’ rhetorical power and its’ visual appearance, audience and fundamental feelings. The prospect of the report is that the analysis and discussion it lead to can be applied also to other symbols in order to evaluate their rhetorical breakthrough. The material consist of an image of the Woman Power Symbol and the anthology Sisterhood is Powerful. The combination of these two aim to provide information regarding my already established opinion: that the symbols’ ability to penetrate the Women’s Power Movement was conducted by its’ combination of visual appearance, its’ intended audience and non-audience and the feelings that gave rise to its creation. The report is in Swedish.

Abstract:

Skolmiljöerna är liksom de allra flesta av våra sociala rum fyllda med bilder. Samtidigt präglas skolan av en textspråksdominerande kunskapssyn. Syftet med uppsatsen var att undersöka hur bilders egenskaper påverkarade hur elever använder bilder. Med avstamp i semiotisk teori undersöktes, särskilt hur bilders retoriska egenskaper (deras retoriska dimensioner), påverkade urvalsprocessen för vilka bilder eleverna väljer att använda, i undervisningssituationer. Empirin baserades på intervjuer med åtta stycken gymnasieelever som fick, ur ett urval av 70 uppsatta bilder, välja ut bilder och berätta om dem, i relation till sitt eget skapande och sina egna erfarenheter. Med ett narrativt förhållningssätt analyserades sedan intervjuerna, och de bilder, som på särskilda sätt betonades och utgjorde centrala aspekter av elevernas berättelser, studerades med avseende på sina retoriska dimensioner, såsom dessa är utvecklade av Göran Sonesson. Resultatet visade inga direkta kopplingar mellan bildernas retoriska dimensioner, och hur de bilderna valdes för att diskuteras, eller användas, praktisk eller teoretiskt. Man kunde dock iaktta andra mönster, bland annat konsthistoriska och strukturella ”dramaturgiska” sådana.

Abstract:

Crisis communication can make a crisis turn into a double crisis. The purpose of the thesis is to analyze by which rhetorical means a double crisis can occur. With the Swedish zoo Parken Zoo as a specific example, this essay examines the crisis communication during the crises that started with the tv-show Kalla fakta. The tv-show revealed that Parken Zoo killed and slaughtered endangered and sacred animals. When asked about the specific animals, the head of the zoo gave different answers – which contrasted with former employees testimony. The essay aim to find how the chosed strategies could affect the company’s ethos. The episode of Kalla fakta is studied. Also a press release from Parken Zoo and a letter posted on Facebook from the head of the Zoo is examined. To find which rhetorical strategies that are communicated the paper uses the theory of status, Benoits apologia theory and Bitzers theory about the rhetorical situation. The method used is rhetorical criticism. The results include the crisis communications accusations and answers. The conclusions of the thesis is that the contrast between evidence and Parken Zoo:s statements results in a loss of trust for the company. Parken Zoo also, in some cases, fortify the accusations with their answers. The local authorities owns the zoo, but they are absent in the crisis communication. This leads to a confusion regarding who is responsible.

Abstract:

Samhället präglas av en valfrihet vilket innebär oändliga möjligheter för individen att välja sin egen väg. Individen förväntas dock göra det bästa och rätta livsstilsvalet vilket snarare hämmar än gynnar hennes beslutstagande. Fokus i uppsatsen har riktats mot individer som har gjort ett livsstilsval av kosttrenden LCHF. Syftet har varit att studera hur individer i en bloggkontext tillskriver sig kategorier samt rättfärdigar och argumenterar för sitt tagna livsstilsval. För att fullfölja uppsatsens syfte har vi tagit stöd i den kvalitativa forskningstraditionen diskurspsykologi som är en form av diskursanalytisk ansats. Diskurspsykologin är handlingsorienterad och präglas av socialkonstruktionismens utgångspunkt att betrakta språk som handling; att säga något är att göra något. Blogginlägg har studerats vilket resulterat i en tolkning av hur individerna kategoriserar sig själva utifrån den rådande tolkningsrepertoaren. Specifika ordval som har betydelse för individens självpresentation har bidragit till att en kategorisering av individen själv har blivit synlig. Resultatet visade även på att bloggskribenter rättfärdigar och argumenterar för sitt livsstilsval genom att använda positivt och negativt laddade ord. Även ett stöd av retoriska resurser, såsom detaljerade beskrivningar av LCHFs fördelar har framkommit i rättfärdigandet av och argumenterandet för LCHF.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to examine a brand’s green marketing and its consumers’ perception of it in order to compare these views. The idea is to find a potential gap and what effect it may have on the brand. A case study has therefore been made with the grocery market brand Coop with focus on organic food. The material used consists of texts from Coop’s website to represent their brand. The topic of all texts is organic production and its relation to Coop. To analyze the consumers’ perception of the brand, interviews has been made. Lloyd F. Bitzer’s theory of the rhetorical situation and Roland Barthes’ theory of myths, adapted to rhetoric and argumentation by Eric Bengtson, have been applied. The findings show that there is a gap between Coop and the consumers’ perception of it: Coop has an elaborate myth in all their texts about being the protectors of the Earth, while the consumers only regard the company as somewhat aware of the environment. This stands even though the company and the consumers both believe sustainability to be an important issue.

Abstract:

En kris kan drabba vilken organisation som helst, när som helst. Om krisen har orsakats av medlemmar inom organisationen, är det mycket troligt att organisationen även får genomgå en organisatorisk förtroendekris. Följande studie behandlar Féderation Internationale de Football Associations (Fifa:s) mutskandal som uppdagades våren 2015. I studien kommer Fifa:s retoriska uttryck och kriskommunikationsstrategier kring skandalen, samt deras pågående arbete för att återfå sitt förtroende att analyseras genom en kvalitativ metod. De analysverktyg som används i studien är dels en anpassad version av Bröms, Gelang och Mrals retoriska analysmodell, samt Coombs rekommendationer över krisstategier. Materialet är insamlat från Fifa:s egna mediekanaler och består av den presskonferens som Fifa genomförde i samband med skandalen, samt nio stycken pressmeddelanden som publicerades mellan 2015-2018. Studiens resultat visar att Fifa under presskonferensen förminskar sin inblandning i krisen och anser sig själva vara det främsta offret. De ger inte någon offentlig ursäkt, utan menar snarare att deras ledning varit helt ovetande om att mutor och korruption har försiggått. Däremot visar resultatet att Fifa:s bemötande av krisen skiljer sig något i deras pressmeddelanden. Detta då Fifa hade bytt ut sin högsta ledning vid tiden då dessa publicerades, och istället påbörjat arbetet mot en ny och förbättrad organisation. Fifa anser sig fortfarande vara offer i deras pressmeddelanden, till viss del, men tar däremot ansvar för krisen och inser att det är Fifa:s organisationskultur och struktur som måste förändras till att bli mer öppen och tillgänglig för alla, för att kunna fortsätta utveckla fotbollen.
A crisis can affect any organization at any time. If the crisis has been caused by members of the organization, it is very likely that the organization may also undergo an organizational crisis of confidence. The following study is about Féderation Internationale de Football Associations (Fifa’s) scandal that was discovered in the spring of 2015. In the study, Fifa's rhetorical expression and crisis strategies around the scandal, as well as their ongoing work to regain their confidence, will be analyzed through a qualitative method. The study's analysis tool consists of a custom version of Bröms, Gelang and Mral’s rhetorical analysis model, as well as Coomb's recommendations on crisis strategies. The material analyzed in the study is collected from Fifa's own channels and consists of a press conference, which was Fifa's first public statement during the scandal, and 9 statements published on their own website between 2015-2018. The result of the study shows that during the press conference, Fifa reduces their involvement in the crisis and considers themself to be the primary victim. They do not give any public apology, but rather say that their management has been completely unaware that bribery and corruption have occurred. However, the result shows that Fifa’s handling of the crisis response differs slightly in their statements, this because Fifa had replaced the management by the time their statement were published, and started work on a new and improved organization. Fifa still considered themselves to be a victim to some extent in their statements, but they did take responsibility for the crisis and realized that it is Fifa's organizational culture and structure that must be changed to become more open and accessible to everyone, in order to continue developing football.
