Abstract:

The article is devoted to revealing the resources of transitive changes of a regional university as a “node” of inter-territorial and inter-level educational movements. The factors of continuity of transition between the Bachelor’s and Master’s education levels as a resource for educational transit of students are discussed. This student transit resource should be used for transitive changes in a regional university in response to global trends in the demand for “lifelong education” and the need to reduce the intensity of interregional educational migration. The article defines the functions of lifelong education as a resource for the transitivity of a regional university, proposes management and organizational measures for maintaining and improving the educational programs of master’s programs at regional universities, and substantiates their socio-economic efficiency.

PurposeTo explore the factors affecting continuity of cooperative electronic supply chain relationships in Taiwanese motor industry.Design/methodology/approachThis study has developed a research framework that integrates the three perspectives of resource dependence, risk perception, and relationship marketing to identify the factors affecting the continuity of a cooperative electronic supply chain. After constructing a structural equation model, empirical testing on 851 raw material and spare parts suppliers for the Taiwanese motor industry was conducted.FindingsAll path coefficients in the proposed model were statistically significant, and were as hypothesized. Resource dependence, trust, and relationship commitment are positively related to the continuity of the cooperative electronic relationship. Risk perception is negatively related to the continuity of the cooperative electronic relationship.Research limitations/implicationsThis paper has theoretically developed an extensive set of interrelationships among these variables (resource dependency, perceived risk, trust, relationship commitment, and continuity of cooperative electronic relationships), illustrating their comparative effects on supplier intention to use the internet for on‐line transactions.Practical implicationsThis empirical study provides consistent support for the proposed business‐to‐business (B2B) e‐commerce acceptance model. Given the high explanatory power of the resulting model, it is likely to serve as the basic model for predicting supplier behavior, and the continuity of enhanced understanding of cooperative electronic relationships.Originality/valuePrevious studies did not fully address the relevant influential factors related to the continuity of cooperative electronic supply chain relationships or the causal relationships among these factors. The primary contribution of this research is the integration of constructs associated with resources, environmental uncertainty, and relationship marketing, into a coherent model that jointly predicts supplier acceptance of e‐commerce.

Abstract:

Over the last several decades, the scheduling of linear construction projects (LCPs) has been explored extensively by experts. The linear scheduling method (LSM), which focuses on work rate and work continuity, has the advantage of tackling LCPs’ scheduling problems. The traditional LSM uses work continuity to monitor resource allocation continuity on the premise that activities with the same type of work use the same crew. However, some LCPs require a combination of different types of equipment to comprise the crew. Sometimes, parts of different crews require the same types of equipment, and sometimes, the same crew requires different equipment configurations. This causes the pattern of work continuity to be different from the pattern of resource allocation continuity. Therefore, we propose an optimization model of the LSM to minimize idle equipment on a non-sequential linear construction project—i.e., a road network maintenance project. This model is intended to minimize the number of idle equipment and their idle time to achieve more efficient scheduling for linear construction projects. This model offers novel details of resource allocation continuity assessment by taking into account equipment combination and configuration (ECC). Therefore, the scheduling concept used by the proposed model is named the linear scheduling model with ECC (LSM–ECC). The model was developed using constraint programming (CP), as CP has good performance and robustness in the optimization field. The model was implemented to a representation of a road network maintenance project and has satisfactory results.

Abstract:

The amount of habitat in a landscape is an important metric for evaluating the effects of land cover on biodiversity, yet it fails to capture complex temporal dimensions of resource availability that could be consequential for species population dynamics. Here, we use a spatially-explicit predator–prey metapopulation model to test the effect of different spatiotemporal resource patterns on insect predators and their prey. We examined population responses in model landscapes that varied in both the amount and temporal variability of basal vegetation. Further, we examined cases where prey comprised either a single generalist species or two specialist species that use different resources available either early or late in the growing season. We found that predators and generalist prey benefitted from lower temporal variance of basal resources, which increased landscape-scale abundances. However, increasing the amount of basal resources also increased the variability of generalist prey populations. Specialist prey, on the other hand, did not benefit from less temporally variable basal resources, as they were restricted by habitat type, while also suffering greater predation. Predators achieved greater prey suppression in landscapes with less temporally variable resources, but the overall effects on prey abundance depended on prey habitat specialization. Our simulations demonstrate the joint importance of both the amount and temporal variability of resources for understanding how landscape heterogeneity influences biodiversity and ecosystem services such as the biological control of agricultural pests.

Introduction: In 3GPP New Radio (NR) systems, frequent radio propagation path blockages can lead to the disconnection of ongoingsessions already accepted into the system, reducing the quality of service in the network. Controlling access to system resource byprioritizing for the ongoing sessions can increase the session continuity. In this paper, we propose resource allocation with a reservationmechanism. Purpose: Development of a mathematical model for analyzing the effect of this mechanism on other system performanceindicators – dropping probabilities for new and ongoing sessions and system utilization. The model takes into account the key featuresof the 3GPP NR technology, including the height of the interacting objects, the spatial distribution and mobility of the blockers, as wellas the line-of-sight propagation properties between the transceivers for mmWave NR technology. Results: We analyzed the reservationmechanism with the help of a developed model in the form of a resource queueing system with signals, where the base station bandwidthcorresponds to the resource, and the signals model a change in the line-of-sight conditions between the receiving and transmittingdevices. Creating a priority for ongoing sessions whose service has not yet been completed provides a considerable flexibility forbalancing the session continuity and dropping of a new session, with a slight decrease in the efficiency of the radio resource utility. Withthe developed model, we showed that reserving even a small bandwidth (less than 10% of the total resources) to maintain the ongoingsessions has a positive effect on their continuity, as it increases the probability of their successful completion. Practical relevance: The proposed mechanism works more efficiently in overload conditions and with sessions which have a high data transfer raterequirements. This increases the demand for the proposed mechanism in 5G NR communication systems.

AbstractProduction rates for various activities and overall construction project duration are significantly influenced by crew formation. Crews are composed of available renewable resources. Construction companies tend to reduce the number of permanent employees, which reduces fixed costs, but at the same time limits production capacity. Therefore, construction project planning must be carried out by means of scheduling methods which allow for resource constrains. Authors create a mathematical model for optimized scheduling of linear construction projects with consideration of resources and work continuity constraints. Proposed approach enables user to select optimal crew formation under limited resource supply. This minimizes project duration and improves renewable resource utilization in construction linear projects. This paper presents mixed integer linear programming to model this problem and uses a case study to illustrate it.

AbstractObjectiveWe developed and validated a user-centered information system to support the local planning of public health continuity of operations for the Community Health Services Division, Public Health - Seattle & King County, Washington.MethodsThe Continuity of Operations Data Analysis (CODA) system was designed as a prototype developed using requirements identified through participatory design. CODA uses open-source software that links personnel contact and licensing information with needed skills and clinic locations for 821 employees at 14 public health clinics in Seattle and King County. Using a web-based interface, CODA can visualize locations of personnel in relationship to clinics to assist clinic managers in allocating public health personnel and resources under dynamic conditions.ResultsBased on user input, the CODA prototype was designed as a low-cost, user-friendly system to inventory and manage public health resources. In emergency conditions, the system can run on a stand-alone battery-powered laptop computer. A formative evaluation by managers of multiple public health centers confirmed the prototype design's usefulness. Emergency management administrators also provided positive feedback about the system during a separate demonstration.ConclusionsValidation of the CODA information design prototype by public health managers and emergency management administrators demonstrates the potential usefulness of building a resource management system using open-source technologies and participatory design principles.(Disaster Med Public Health Preparedness. 2013;0:1–7)

Abstract:

ABSTRACTThis paper examines the relationship between resource development and aboriginal community and cultural impacts in Canada's north from the 1970s to the present. Based on a review of published literature, it is contended that northern centred scholarship can be conceptualised in two phases. These are firstly the community impacts phase (1970 to mid-1990s), a phase guided largely by a cultural politics of assimilation, a sociology of disturbance, and an anthropology of acculturation; and secondly the community continuity phase (mid-1990s to present), a phase underpinned by political empowerment, participatory social impact assessment, and the influence of cultural ecology. Due to these shifting political dynamics and research frameworks, and a lack of longitudinal research in the north over the last four decades, it is concluded that the nature of the relationship between resource development and aboriginal culture remains elusive and subject to wide ranging interpretation. Analysis shows that cultural impacts from resource development are dependent on the scale of development and spatial disturbance. It also shows growing political power in the north, a greater focus on community-based research, and renewed discussion of cultural continuity and how it is defined and assessed over time.

This study aims to analyze the impact of the human resources management practices on adapting person- job fit, with the existence of human resource agility as a modified variable in Jordanian airlines, The researcher relies on the descriptive and analytical approach, The study population consist of all employees of the Jordanian airline companies, within the upper and middle administrative levels, whose number is (185) individuals. Due to the study small population number, the researcher adopted the entire study population as a sample for the study and in the comprehensive survey method. The results showed that human resource management practices has a statistically significant effect on person- job fit, human resource management practices effect at the agility of human resources, and agility of human resources effect at the person - job fit in the Jordanian airline companies. The results showed that human resource agility improves the impact of human resource management practices on person- job fit. The study recommended that Jordanian airlines maintain the continuity of interest in human resource agility and alignment of the individual with his job, in addition to human resource management practices in all its dimensions and the use of tools to ensure that the level of interest in them does not decline or decline.

Abstract:

Resource-continuity over spatial and temporal scales plays a central role in the population abundance of polyphagous pests in an agricultural landscape. Shifts in the agricultural land use in a region may alter the configuration of key resource habitats, resulting in drastic changes in pest abundance. Apolygus lucorum (Meyer-Dür) (Hemiptera: Miridae) is a pest of cotton in northern China that has become more serious in recent years following changes in the region’s cropping systems. However, no evidence from the landscape perspective has yet been gathered to account for the increasing population of A. lucorum in China. In this study, we investigated the effects of landscape composition on the population abundance of A. lucorum in cotton fields in July and August of 2016, respectively. We found that increased acreage planted to cotton actually had a negative effect on the abundance of A. lucorum, while planting of other crops (e.g., vegetables, soybean, and peanut) was positively associated with the mirid’s population abundance in cotton fields. Maize production only displayed a positive effect on population abundance in August. Our results suggested that the decreasing of cotton area may weaken the trap-kill effect on A. lucorum, and the extension of other crops and maize potentially enhance the continuity of resources needed by A. lucorum. Combined effects of these two aspects may promote an increased population density of A. lucorum in the agriculture district. In the future, when possible, management strategies in key regional crops should be coordinated to reduce resource continuity at the landscape or area-wide scale to lower A. lucorum populations across multiple crops.

Evidence suggests that language barriers present obstacles to healthcare access and quality for Francophone seniors in official language minority communities across Canada. Addressing language barriers and providing continuity is challenging, as French language services (FLSs) rely heavily on bilingual providers and the practice of active offer by all staff. This qualitative research used semi-structured group and individual interviews to explore mechanisms supporting FLS coordination and continuity in two Canadian provinces. Identification of the language variable in health records, virtual healthcare, and FLS directories are conducive to FLS continuity, but financial and resource limitations present major obstacles. Management strategies to facilitate continuity of FLS across health organizations are discussed.

This article elaborated in the context of the Theory of Accountancy gives evidence of and makes explicit the importance of Human Resource Costing and Accounting (HRCA) for the Entities. The article deals with the recognition of people as a strategic and organizational resource, with the objective of being competitive in search of maximizing the return on investments in physical, technological and human resources. It is reported that in the current society of knowledge, the success of organizations is in recognizing, retaining and maximizing this resource, which constitutes an asset par excellence, in search of continuity in entities in time, allowing, moreover, the divulging of its perfomance to its partners. The article explains that human capital is not supplementary information but is relevant information for the stakeholders which must be divulged through published accounts, to attend the presuppositions of accountability. ABSTRACTSome Arctic scholars believe that modern reindeer herding on the Kola Peninsula has cultural continuity with the traditional period of such activity in the late 19th century. Others believe that by World War II, Soviet repression of Saami leaders, collectivisation of herding villages, and relocation of families had eliminated many traditional behaviours, especially in the Lake Imandra watershed. This study utilises informant interviews with survivors of the Babinski and Ekostrovski Saami reindeer herding villages and archival materials to understand how their families used land and water to fish, hunt, and obtain other resources including cash labour. As part of the United States National Science Foundation's human dimensions of the Arctic system (HARC) programme to examine how humans are both shaped by, and shape, the Arctic environment, the authors document how lands and waters formed traditional resource territories for Saami herding families. The results reveal that prior to their destruction, western Kola reindeer herding villages were integrated along family lines, with villages sharing mates, resource territories, and economic activities. This paper argues that there was, in fact, no cultural continuity between traditional Saami reindeer herding villages and modern herding structures such as the post-Soviet brigade on the western Kola Peninsula.

Abstract Although the types of events that occur across life phases may vary, experiencing multiple life challenges in a short time-frame can disrupt mental health (Zepinic, 2016). Maintaining self-continuity (i.e., sense of being the same person over time) when experiencing challenges may, however, foster resilience (Masten, 2001). This study investigated, in both young and older adults, whether: (1) experiencing multiple recent negative life challenges relates to lower current eudaimonic wellbeing, and (2) self-continuity acts as an internal resource for resilience. That is, whether having greater self-continuity ameliorates the negative association between frequent life challenges and well-being. Participants (N = 99 young, 87 older adults) reported all challenging events experienced in the last six years (Sarason et al., 1978). They also completed measures of eudaimonic Well-being (Ryff, 1989) and Sense of Self-continuity (past six years; e.g., Habermas & Köber, 2015). Older adults reported higher eudaimonic well-being than young adults (p < .001). Young adults reported experiencing more challenges (p < .001). Regardless, for both age groups, more frequently experiencing life challenges was associated with lower eudaimonic well-being (p < .001). Self-continuity mediated the association between more frequent experience of challenge and lower eudaimonic well-being: β = .258, SE = .061, 95% CI [.138, .378] (p < .001). Classic risk models focus on the negative effects of life’s inevitable challenges. Our findings, grounded in a resilient aging framework, support the idea that individuals of any age can use internal resources (i.e., strong sense of self-continuity) to maintain or re-establish well-being.

ABSTRACTThe evolution of multicellularity has occurred in diverse lineages and in multiple ways among eukaryotic species. For plants and fungi, multicellular forms are derived from ancestors that failed to separate following cell division, thus retaining cytoplasmic continuity between the daughter cells. In networked organisms, such as filamentous fungi, cytoplasmic continuity facilitates the long-distance transport of resources without the elaboration of a separate vascular system. Nutrient translocation in fungi is essential for nutrient cycling in ecosystems, mycorrhizal symbioses, virulence, and substrate utilization. It has been proposed that an interconnected mycelial network influences resource translocation, but the theory has not been empirically tested. Here we show, by using mutants that disrupt network formation inNeurospora crassa(Δsomutant, no fusion; ΔPrm-1mutant, ∼50% fusion), that the translocation of labeled nutrients is adversely affected in homogeneous environments and is even more severely impacted in heterogeneous environments. We also show that the ability to share resources and genetic exchange between colonies (via hyphal fusion) is very limited in mature colonies, in contrast to in young colonies and germlings that readily share nutrients and genetic resources. The differences in genetic/resource sharing between young and mature colonies were associated with variations in colony architecture (hyphal differentiation/diameters, branching patterns, and angles). Thus, the ability to share resources and genetic material between colonies is developmentally regulated and is a function of the age of a colony. This study highlights the necessity of hyphal fusion for efficient nutrient translocation within anN. crassacolony but also shows that establishedN. crassacolonies do not share resources in a significant manner.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound and rapid impact on higher education institutions across the world resulting from the lockdowns and movement restrictions which resulted to cancellation of face to face classes and necessitated the crafting and implementation of a learning continuity plan. This study focused on the extent of the implementation, success and challenges of the OMSC Learning Continuity Plan viewed from the lens of the faculty members. The qualitative-quantitative approach and Reflective Cycle design were used to gather and give meaning to the experiences of the faculty as the plan was implemented. A questionnaire was used to gather data and virtual focus group discussions were conducted to contextualize the narratives of the respondents. Results of the study indicate that the faculty believe that LCP was highly implemented in terms of its four majors components of: instructional management and supervision, human resource development, learning resource development and delivery and safety and conducive learning environment. Moreover, the LCP was highly successful in terms of attainment of learning outcomes, resource mobilization; and equity in access to learning resources. Finally, the common challenges encountered by the faculty members in the implementation of the LCP were: limited access to internet and unstable internet connection, difficulty in assessing performance-based tasks and related learning experience especially laboratory subjects, difficulty in tracking, checking student’s outputs especially for large class sizes in online modality, late submission of students’ outputs particularly those in modular distance learning, dissertation/Thesis defense schedule could not be fixed due to students’ connectivity problems and students’ inability to participate in group activities.

This study further determined the constraints on the implementation of flexible learning and results served as a benchmark in the development of a Learning Continuity Plan(LCP). This study made use of a descriptive design with 137 faculty respondents selected randomly. A survey questionnaire was used to gather data. Results reveal that the college is at the average level of preparedness.Resources, modes of delivering instruction,policies, courier, electronic library and Learning Management System(LMS) were identified as constraints that need to be improved.The Learning Continuity Plan(LCP) suggested measures to improve the implementation of Flexible Learning(FL).With these results,it is suggested that resources,Learning Management System(LMS),policies and modes of delivering instruction shall be established systematically.

Wyte-Lake will present the results of a national survey on how changes were made to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) HBPC programs in response to the pandemic. G. Demiris describes a large caregiver study in which problem solving therapy and positive appraisal theory interventions designed specifically to support family caregivers of hospice patients during the COVID-19 pandemic were implemented via telehealth. D. Lindeman will specifically discuss challenges and implementation strategies for telehealth solutions applied to low-income older adults living in affordable housing communities. Finally, H. Xu will present the results of an analysis examining the effectiveness of telehealth in reducing readmissions among heart failure patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. While the COVID-19 pandemic has especially impacted older adults and those who care for them, these talks highlight the potential of telehealth services and interventions to provide support and facilitate the continuity of care during times of crisis.

The article aims to explain the reasons and the methods for evaluating the vitality of the family businesses with a focus on a country where family businesses were violently interrupted by forty years of the socialist regime. The intention is to find out, in connection with the vitality of family businesses, whether it is possible to define the factors that enabled the subsequent continuity of this type of business, for instance, the sector that is relevant to the region. The authors draw on a resource-based view as well as the specifics of the family-owned business in an institutional context. They comment on the behaviour of family business from three perspectives – legal, managerial and economic. The intention of knowledge/evaluation system presented is to find the weaknesses in the family business structures in the Czech Republic, which opens the opportunity for the succession process and the subsequent professionalization of their solutions. The methodology is presented in ten case studies. The results of the evaluation showed considerable compliance with those assumptions defined in the literature on those family businesses that continued uninterrupted.

Introduction Continuity of care by family physicians in primary care settings may play a role in reducing health resource utilization and improving clinical outcomes and satisfaction of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Clear evidence on the impact of continuity of care will support clinical programing and integration of services across health settings. Methods The association between continuity of care and unplanned health service utilization in persons with a diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in a rural region in Ontario, Canada was evaluated. A retrospective cohort study was conducted using population-level health administrative data. The main exposure variable was continuity of care. Results A continuity of care index was calculated for patients with at least five visits to a healthcare provider during the 5-year follow-up period ( n = 40,033). Higher continuity of care ( n = 20,008) and lower continuity of care ( n = 20,025), based on the median continuity of care score were calculated. Patients with lower continuity of care had an increased adjusted relative risk of 2.12 (2.08, 2.33) of an emergency department visit, 2.81 (2.72, 2.9) risk of hospitalization, and 3.52 (3.24, 3.82) of being readmitted to hospital compared to those with higher continuity of care. Discussion An association between continuity of care and unplanned health services utilization, where a lower use of unplanned health services was observed in the cohort of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease experiencing higher continuity of care. Continuity of care makes philosophical and social sense in that care is provided by a known provider to a known patient and unnecessary investigations can be avoided.

Abstract:

The problems of ensuring continuity of medical care are considered. Information and cybernetic issues of continuity, in particular information standards, resource management systems of a medical institution, are analyzed. It emphasizes the need to develop standards for the continuity of care. It is concluded that long-term continuity of medical measures in rehabilitation is one of the main components of the effectiveness of medical care. Further qualitative research is needed, including some types of rehabilitation services (e. g. specialized medical care). At the same time the most important factors for ensuring continuity at the current stage of medicine development are the use of ontologies, representing the most general conceptual concepts of the modeled field of medicine, completely abstracted from specific models of knowledge representation and practical implementation. It is also shown that the specification of the patient management model in the rehabilitation period of treatment is provided by a wide application of telemedicine consultations. The index of continuity of medical aid is also proposed. It represents a simple additive function that reflects the change in the probability of an unfavorable outcome.

Following a functional view of topic as a discourse, cognitive and contextually-referential notion, independent of special language-systematic coding (Cornish 2004), this paper aims to study topic continuity strategies (Givón 1983, 1995; Dik 1997) in news items and tourist brochures. The empirical analysis carried out reveals that the two subgenres show different relative frequencies of linguistic resources for maintaining topic continuity. While in the news items the use of active voice (25.4%) and anaphoric proforms (20.4%) are the prototypical strategies for topic continuity, in the tourist brochures nominals preceded by definite articles, possessives or demonstratives (24.1%), and proper nouns (12.3%) are the most commonly used resource for maintaining a topical referent alive in the discourse. From a lexico-grammatical perspective significant differences have also been established in the utilization of zero anaphora and nominalizations (the latter being found only in the news items). From a syntactic point of view, the use of relative clauses and passive structures is also distinct in the two text types. Inversions and imperative clauses are exclusive to the tourist brochures. The use of specific linguistic strategies and their different frequencies seem to be basically determined both by the emphasis or semantic prominence the writer wishes to give to the informative segment he is referring to, and by the particular communicative purpose of each of the two subgenres under study.

As Africa witnesses a shift from Afro-pessimism to Afro-euphoria, contemporary discourses on the continent have been hinged on the notion of a ‘Rising Africa’. This article explores the often-ignored structural defects upon which the notion is hinged, particularly in resource-rich contexts. The analysis is based on a critique of current narratives of a rising Africa as being far too simplistic and subjective to serve as an enduring basis for capturing the dialectics of change in a resurgent continent. It does this by engaging a multi-level analysis that draws upon the political economy of oil, growing inequalities in resource-rich states, strategic and energy security calculations of global actors, and the complex web of global forces that define the parameters and limits of development on the continent. Given the marginal position of the continent in the global extractive regime, this article posits that a lot will depend on understanding the implications, risks and opportunities embedded in Africa’s current resource boom, with a view to charting a viable and sustainable path in its unpredictable search for development.

Taking a life-cycle approach to marital power relations, the paper compares the attitudes of married men close to retirement with those who are retired. An integrative model based on Resource Theory was designed to analyse the effect of several variables on the husband's perceptions of power relations: perceived resources, attitudes toward gender roles, emotional commitment to his wife and anticipated dependence on her. The model was tested on a sample of 348 Israeli men – 137 pre-retired and 211 retirees. Contrary to expectations of a decline in the retired husband's perceived power, no differences were found between the two groups except for a reported increase in social power among the older group. Major differences were found, however, regarding the overall impact of variables: perceived economic resources had the strongest explanatory power for pre-retired respondents, whereas it was psycho-social factors (anticipated dependence on the wife for satisfaction of emotional needs, psychological resources, and emotional commitment to the wife) that best explained variance among retirees. The increased dependence of retired husbands on their wives' expressive resources seems to contradict their reports of greater social power, suggesting that their perceptions of marital power relations may be coloured by feelings of status anxiety.

Autonomy and selfhood are primary concerns for scholars of long-term care. Previous work has shown how organizational routines threaten client autonomy and disrupt access to the material and symbolic resources that ground the biography of the self. In this article, I examine how a group of African-American older adults within an adult day service center ameliorated these threats through religious expression. In most health care settings, religion is delivered as an individual, clinical resource. At this site, religion and recreation became intertwined such that religion became a participatory resource that affirmed client membership to a community beyond the walls of the organization. However, as an institutionally provided resource, religion was delivered through work routines that constrained which versions of community to which clients could belong. I conclude by considering the implications for the expanding universe of long-term care organizations tasked with the maintenance of the body as well as the continuity of the self.

Abstract:

Background The Australasian Integrative Medicine Association (AIMA) established a working group to develop the AIMA Guiding Principles for Letter Writing and Letter Writing Templates. The guiding principles were developed to promote effective communication between the diverse range of healthcare practitioners (HCPs) that patients choose to consult. Following the development of the Interprofessional Communication (IPC) resources, AIMA undertook a public consultation as part of a quality assurance process to evaluate the relevance and utility of the resource. Aim This study reports stakeholder feedback on AIMA’s draft guiding principles document. It explores stakeholder attitudes towards IPC and HCPs letter-writing, and interest in ongoing continuing professional development (CPD). Methods A cross-sectional survey involving 1) an online public consultation survey and 2) a paper survey collected following IPC CPD activities. Quantitative data were analysed using Chi square and Fisher-Freeman-Halton Test. Responses to open ended questions were coded and subject to a thematic analysis. Results The 64 survey participants and 55 CPD participants represented the Australian healthcare sectors and lay community. Most thought IPC is important (n = 112/117; 96%) and the resources were informative (n = 112/119; 94%), understandable (n = 111/119; 93%), and clinically relevant (n = 105/117; 90%). HCP reported wide variations in their frequency of correspondence with other practitioner types, with rates often concerningly low. Key IPC themes identified were the importance of continuity of care, clarity of communication, and professional practice. CPD participants were most interested in further IPC training (p = 0.001). Conclusions The IPC resources affirm the role of formal communication pathways, such as letters of correspondence to support coordinated, patient-centred and multidisciplinary care. Challenges with letter writing and IPC signal the need for more student and professional education on the subject to promote continuity of patient care and the delivery of high quality, integrative medicine and health care services.
