Since its establishment in 1868, Ca’ Foscari University’s educational vocation has been marked by its attention to the study and teaching of Oriental languages. Inheriting the legacy of Venice as a commercial and cultural gateway to the East, the development of Oriental studies has been envisioned as one of the most important and peculiar missions of this University as a national educational institution. This volume revisits the history of the teaching and research on Middle, Central, South-Asian and East Asian languages and civilisations at Ca’ Foscari, and of this University’s relationships with the East, offering some insights and information about the evolution of these disciplines, the main protagonists and the multiple connections that have tied and still tie Ca’ Foscari with the Oriental world.

Abstract:
Current research shows the importance of interaction between content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge for history teachers. This is considered effective for the design of history lessons. But even beyond these practical implications, the question of the relationship between historical studies and history education is of great importance. Both approaches have a common object: the past. However, the methodically approaches to the past follow different ways. While historical scholarship reconstructs the past by using sources, history education is dedicated to the reception of history. A dialogue between these two approaches can expand the boundaries of both disciplines with new insights. The anthology is dedicated to such an interlocking of historical research and history education using the example of pre-modern history. In the essays, perspectives opened up by scholars are supplemented by comments from history educators. Thus, on the one hand, it is reflected how subject-specific research could enrich teaching in schools and universities. In addition, these findings are classified in terms of historical theory and empirics.

Abstract:
One of the forms of teaching physics in high schools with a natural science specialization and in the junior courses of universities can be an educational research project. The use of modern open scientific data makes it possible to make the project interesting, modern, relevant and multidisciplinary. The implementation of such a project allows the student to understand some areas of modern scientific research and the relationship between various natural sciences. Direct comparison of the project results with published fundamental research and discussion of the differences obtained are possible. As the first example of a training project, the determination of the frequency of asteroids and large meteorites (of the Tunguska and Chelyabinsk class) falling to Earth by counting craters on the surface of the Moon and Mercury is considered. Meets the requirements of the federal state educational standards of higher education of the latest generation. For students of higher educational institutions studying in natural science specialties: physics, astronomy, geography, geology, soil science, biology, etc—, and students of engineering and technical specialties of full-time and distance learning.
