Abstract:
This paper aims to evaluate the knowledge landscape of the phytoremediation of heavy metals (HMs) by constructing a series of scientific maps and exploring the research hotspots and trends of this field. This study presents a review of 6873 documents published about phytoremediation of HMs in the international context from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) (1989–2018). Two different processing software applications were used, CiteSpace and Bibliometrix. This research field is characterized by high interdisciplinarity and a rapid increase in the subject categories of engineering applications. The basic supporting categories mainly included “Environmental Sciences & Ecology”, “Plant Sciences”, and “Agriculture”. In addition, there has been a trend in recent years to focus on categories such as “Engineering, Multidisciplinary”, “Engineering, Chemical”, and “Green & Sustainable Science & Technology”. “Soil”, “hyperaccumulator”, “enrichment mechanism/process”, and “enhance technology” were found to be the main research hotspots. “Wastewater”, “field crops”, “genetically engineered microbes/plants”, and “agromining” may be the main research trends. Bibliometric and scientometric analysis are useful methods to qualitatively and quantitatively measure research hotspots and trends in phytoremediation of HM, and can be widely used to help new researchers to review the available research in a certain research field.

Abstract:
Metavisualization is a fast-growing field in education, specifically in science, which involves the interpretation of external visualizations (images, for example) all the time, and is explained by models built by scientists. This review covers 17 articles published between 2008 and beginning of 2014, seeking to answer the question: “What has been presented in articles about metavisualization in teaching science?” Four categories were designed to classify the nature of the articles. Primary research targets were to look whether the article is of investigative or theoretical type, if the article involves some metavisual strategies or if it highlights its importance in the learning process. Major findings include: 1) the subject is still little explored; 2) most of the articles are the investigative type, and the data is collected with students; 3) just over half of papers involve a metavisual strategy or highlights the importance of metavisualization on the learning process. It is recommended that further studies are made on the subject, including the development of metavisual strategies that may help in the science learning process.

Abstract:
Selenium and Mercury are two chemical elements studied in several fields of knowledge due to their chemical properties and interactions. The aim of this study was to analyze the evolution of research activity from 1700 to 2017 on the global trend of these elements, we carried out a bibliometric analysis using the Scopus database. For each keyword accessed (“selenium”, “selenide”, “selenite”, “selenate”, “organoselenium”, “mercury”, “inorganic mercury”, “mercury vapor” and “methylmercury”), we analyzed the publication output, and the top 5 geographic distribution of publications and contributing authors, as well as the top 5 Scopus subject categories where the documents are indexed. The results demonstrated an increase in the number of publication over time for all the keywords. Research about Selenium and its inorganic and organic chemical forms, and Mercury and its inorganic and organic chemical forms were described in approximately 117,000 and 164,000 documents, respectively. United States was the country with the highest number of published documents in all the keywords analyzed. Chemistry, Medicine and Environmental Science were the subject categories with the highest number of documents. Researchers from the United States, China, Japan, Slovenia, and Brazil were in the ranking of the most productive authors. To our knowledge, this is the first bibliometric study on Selenium and Mercury and can be useful to identify potential research groups for scientific collaborations.

Abstract:
Bibliometric research in Indonesia is essential to do for exploring trends and understanding the knowledge base of bibliometric research from the perspective of globally indexed publications. Bibliometric studies have been applied mainly to scientific fields of activity, mostly based on metadata elements such as author, title, subject, citation, etc., related to scientific publications in a discipline. However, no study explicitly discusses the development of bibliometric research in Indonesia based on globally indexed publications. This study aims to identify 1) the growth of bibliometric research in Indonesia, 2) the performance of scientific agencies in publishing bibliometric research in Indonesia, and 3) the science mapping of bibliometric research in Indonesia. This study used data and graphical quantification methods to help researchers understand the future progress and trends of bibliometric research in Indonesia. The study results show that within two decades, there have been 167 relevant documents published and globally indexed in this field. The 167 documents were then analyzed and interpreted using bibliometric techniques: performance analysis and science mapping. The performance analysis results show that bibliometric publications in Indonesia continue to increase from one publication in 2001 to 85 documents in 2022. The most popular categories studied with bibliometrics are Environmental science and Engineering. The analysis results also show the productivity of each scientific actor, including writers, institutions, and countries. The conclusion showed four significant clusters in bibliometric research in Indonesia: the Chemical science cluster, Bibliometric analysis and literature review, food safety, and top Indonesian universities.

Abstract:
The learning of scientific concepts is one of the main research subjects in science education. Although little used, the theory of conceptual profiles allows the study of this knowledge, taking into account the presence of different ways of thinking about a certain concept in the same individual. This study aimed to build a conceptual profile for the concept of equilibrium and, based on this profile, relate it to the teaching and learning process of chemical equilibrium. Four zones were proposed to comprise the profile, called intuitive, static, kinetic and energetic. Subsequently, we analyzed the responses obtained in a questionnaire by students of Chemistry courses in order to group similar ways of speaking into categories related to the concept of equilibrium and the proposed zones for the conceptual profile. In the answers, we found some alternative conceptions already identified by the literature. Based on the results, the proposed zones for the conceptual profile of equilibrium indicate that establishing associations between the state of chemical equilibrium and the notion of equality can lead to conceptual errors and, therefore, it is suggested to give priority to the notion of stability. We also propose the use of studies on the History and Philosophy of Sciences applied to the teaching of chemical equilibrium to stimulate the emergence, dialogue and enrichment between the zones of conceptual profile in individuals.

Abstract:
Abstract. This paper compares measurements of gaseous and particulate emissions from a wide range of biomass-burning plumes intercepted by the NASA DC-8 research aircraft during the three phases of the ARCTAS-2008 experiment: ARCTAS-A, based out of Fairbanks, Alaska, USA (3 April to 19 April 2008); ARCTAS-B based out of Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada (29 June to 13 July 2008); and ARCTAS-CARB, based out of Palmdale, California, USA (18 June to 24 June 2008). Approximately 500 smoke plumes from biomass burning emissions that varied in age from minutes to days were segregated by fire source region and urban emission influences. The normalized excess mixing ratios (NEMR) of gaseous (carbon dioxide, acetonitrile, hydrogen cyanide, toluene, benzene, methane, oxides of nitrogen and ozone) and fine aerosol particulate components (nitrate, sulfate, ammonium, chloride, organic aerosols and water soluble organic carbon) of these plumes were compared. A detailed statistical analysis of the different plume categories for different gaseous and aerosol species is presented in this paper. The comparison of NEMR values showed that CH4 concentrations were higher in air-masses that were influenced by urban emissions. Fresh biomass burning plumes mixed with urban emissions showed a higher degree of oxidative processing in comparison with fresh biomass burning only plumes. This was evident in higher concentrations of inorganic aerosol components such as sulfate, nitrate and ammonium, but not reflected in the organic components. Lower NOx NEMRs combined with high sulfate, nitrate and ammonium NEMRs in aerosols of plumes subject to long-range transport, when comparing all plume categories, provided evidence of advanced processing of these plumes.

Abstract:
This study examined the literature on social life-cycle assessment (S-LCA) published in the last 15 years (2003–2018) using bibliometric methods. Applying scientific mapping and analyzing publication performance, the study describes the structure of and trends in S-LCA publications in terms of related subject categories, authors, journals, countries, and highly cited articles. Challenges and research gaps in the S-LCA literature were also explored. The content of related papers published in the ISI Web of Science databases was examined to identify the main themes investigated, evolution of publication activity, and most representative elements. Analyses were conducted with SciMAT software. This tool enables researchers to map research specialties by extracting qualitative information in the specialized literature and representing it using quantitative measures. The results show rapid and exponential growth of the S-LCA research line in the past ten years, with a clear upward trend in related publications (mostly case studies), especially after publication of the UNEP/SETAC Guidelines for Social Life Cycle Assessment of Products in 2009: 66% of all articles published on S-LCA were published during the period 2015–2018, primarily by European authors. The findings also delineate S-LCA as a highly fragmented research field that has been applied to diverse sectors (agriculture, bioenergy, transport, water management, chemical products, electronics, etc.), mainly in non-European countries. Critical questions concerning methods, framework, paradigms, and indicators remain to be resolved. This study provides insight into the publication performance of S-LCA, characterizing its intellectual structure and salient authors and works. In identifying hotspots in the S-LCA research, the study provides a useful state-of-the-art reference guide for academics and reveals critical research gaps and potential research avenues for future studies to advance in consolidating the discipline.

Abstract:
Introduction. For our country, grain is a strategic market product and is a serious source of income. According to scientific studies, the actual volumes of grain production can be much higher, provided that land use is stabilized and intensive technologies are introduced. Our country, given its natural potential, can and should produce much more grain. One of the factors of increasing the gross production of grain is the provision of high-yield seeds to commodity producers. Methods. The following methods were used in the research process: comparative analysis – to compare data, determine changes in market indicators in time and space; abstract and logical – for the purpose of forming assumptions, hypotheses, as well as conclusions and generalizations; analysis and synthesis – when assessing the state of the research object and substantiating proposals for its improvement and ensuring full-fledged development in the future. The results. The market is a system of social relations based on the comparison of supply and demand and cannot be completely free. As in other areas of the economy, market relations are subject to science-based management through such levers as price, tax, finance, credit, etc. Thus, demand and supply are two specific categories that illustrate the interaction of production and consumption in a market economy. The price of seeds is the most accurate and universal indicator of the economic condition of the cereal seed market. The pricing system for grain crop seeds and the demand for them are directly dependent on the prices for commercial grain of these crops and the demand for grain. Discussion. In the conditions of the post-war revival of the agrarian economy of Ukraine, there will be an increase in the demand for the seeds of grain crops. In this case, the levers of state protection of producers of domestic seed products should be used. Keywords: market, demand, supply, seed production, grain crops.

Abstract:
Objective. The objective of the article is to research modern approaches to the effectiveness of public authorities and the peculiarities of their economic assessment at the local level. Methods. The methods of theoretical search, analysis and synthesis, systematization and generalization, scientific abstraction, tabular method, and statistical research methods (for determining economic efficiency indicators) were used in the performance of this scientific research. Results. Based on the theoretical generalization of the approaches of Ukrainian scientists regarding the definition of the categories "management efficiency", "effectiveness" and "efficiency" in relation to the activities of public authorities (accepted for the state and municipal level as a single interpretation), it is determined that it is managerial, social, economic and political a category determined by the influence of the subject of management on the object of management with the aim of achieving the set goal (result), in which the object of management moves to a new state with the optimal use of resources needed to support such a transition. As a methodological basis, the work implements a mixed approach to evaluation, which is a compilation of the composite approach (which aims to determine the degree of influence of managerial work on the performance of the government body as a whole) and the multiple approach (which is an attempt to evaluate efficiency using generalizing indicators). With its use, an assessment of the economic efficiency of the municipal authorities of the city of Kryvyi Rih was carried out. By means of the analysis of indicators of resource strategic efficiency and general indicators of economic efficiency of public authorities (municipal authorities) of the city of Kryvyi Rih in 2019-2021, a high level of efficiency was ascertained, which ensures the return of all available resources of the territorial community and meets the goals of regional development and strategic interests of the state.

In this paper, the origins and characteristics of the 102 current UK universities are briefly traced and the outcomes of recent assessments of research quality are summarized for all universities and for the 69 subject units within which assessment was made. The quality of research in a subject unit, group of subject units or complete institution is measured by a weighted average score based on a peer rating of submitted subject units from each university and the numerical values obtained are described within the limitations of the methodology developed. The authors consider the scores in terms of the characteristics of each university and the broad subject areas, science, engineering, social sciences and humanities. They then discuss the industrial link with research in terms of recent government policy inputs, university research outcomes and the impact of market forces on universities from diminishing patterns of some income streams.

Abstract:
In this paper, we present a case study of how well subject metadata (comprising headings from an international classification scheme) has been deployed in a national data catalogue, and how often data seekers use subject metadata when searching for data. Through an analysis of user search behaviour as recorded in search logs, we find evidence that users utilise the subject metadata for data discovery. Since approximately half of the records ingested by the catalogue did not include subject metadata at the time of harvest, we experimented with automatic subject classification approaches in order to enrich these records and to provide additional support for user search and data discovery. Our results show that automatic methods work well for well represented categories of subject metadata, and these categories tend to have features that can distinguish themselves from the other categories. Our findings raise implications for data catalogue providers; they should invest more effort to enhance the quality of data records by providing an adequate description of these records for under-represented subject categories.

Abstract:
AbstractThe primary goal of this article is to identify the research fronts on the application of data-driven methods in business and economics. For this purpose, the research literature of the business and economic sciences Subject Categories from the Web of Science is mapped using BibExcel and VOSviewer. Since the assignment to subject categories is done at the journal level and since a journal is often assigned to several subject categories in Web of Science, two mappings are performed: one without considering multiple assignments (broad view) and one considering only those (articles from) journals that have been assigned exclusively to the business and economic sciences subject categories and no others (narrow view). A further aim of this article is therefore to identify differences in the two mappings. Surprisingly, engineering sciences play a major role in the broad mapping, in addition to the economic sciences. In the narrow mapping, however, only the following clusters with a clear business-management focus emerge: (i) Data-driven methods in management in general and data-driven supply chain management in particular, (ii) Data-driven operations research analyses with different business administration/management focuses, (iii) Data-driven methods and processes in economics and finance, and (iv) Data-driven methods in Information Systems. One limitation of the narrow mapping is that many relevant documents are not covered since the journals in which they appear are assigned to multiple subject categories in WoS. The paper comes to the conclusion that the multiple assignments of subject categories in Web of Science may lead to massive changes in the results. Adjacent subject areas—in this specific case the application of data-driven methods in engineering and more mathematically oriented contributions in economics (econometrics) are considered in the broad mapping (not excluding subject categories from neighbouring disciplines) and are even over-represented compared to the core areas of business and economics. If a mapping should only consider the core aspects of particular research fields, it is shown in this use case that the exclusion of Web of Science-subject categories that do not belong to the core areas due to multiple assignments (narrow view), may be a valuable alternative. Finally, it depends on the reader to decide which mapping is more beneficial to them.

Abstract:
Purpose – This study is concerned with a problem in measuring citation impact with the aid of percentile data, which arises from the assignment of publications (or the journals in which the publications have appeared) by Thomson Reuters for the Web of Science to more than one subject category. If there is more than one subject category for a publication, it is initially unclear which category is to be used to create the reference set for the calculation of the percentile. This paper seeks to address these issues. Design/methodology/approach – In this study the author would like to look at whether the calculation of differences between the citation impact of research institutions is affected by whether the minimum (the maximum percentile), the maximum (the minimum percentile), the mean or the median impact (percentile) for the different subject categories is used. The study is based on a sample of percentile data for three research institutions (n=4,232). Findings – The result of the comparison of citation impact of the three institutions remains very similar for all the calculation methods, but on a different level. Originality/value – It is the first study, which investigates how far it makes a difference in the comparison of the citation impact of three different research institutes whether – with multiple assignments of subject categories to one publication – the minimum, the maximum, the mean or the median inverted percentile is used. An answer to the question is very relevant since different methods are used in practical application. For example, the web-based research evaluation tool InCites uses the minimum percentile.

Abstract:
Abstract Objective – This research was designed as a pilot study to test a methodology for subject based collection analysis for public libraries. Methods – WorldCat collection data from eight Australian public libraries was extracted using the Collection Evaluation application. The data was aggregated and filtered to assess how the sample’s titles could be compared against the OCLC Conspectus subject categories. A hierarchy of emphasis emerged and this was divided into tiers ranging from 1% of the sample. These tiers were further analysed to quantify their representativeness against both the sample’s titles and the subject categories taken as a whole. The interpretive aspect of the study sought to understand the types of knowledge embedded in the tiers and was underpinned by hermeneutic phenomenology. Results – The study revealed that there was a marked tendency for a small percentage of subject categories to constitute a large proportion of the potential topicality that might have been represented in these types of collections. The study also found that distribution of the aggregated collection conformed to a Power Law distribution (80/20) so that approximately 80% of the collection was represented by 20% of the subject categories. The study also found that there were significant commonalities in the types of subject categories that were found in the designated tiers and that it may be possible to develop ontologies that correspond to the collection tiers. Conclusions – The evidence-based methodology developed in this pilot study has the potential for further development to help to improve the practice of collection development. The introduction of the concept of the epistemic role played by collection tiers is a promising aid to inform our understanding of knowledge organization for public libraries. The research shows a way forward to help to link subjective decision making with a scientifically based approach to managing knowledge resources.

Objective – To quantify the value of librarianship and information science (LIS) exports knowledge to other subject disciplines. Design – Bibliometric study. Setting – LIS departments in U.K. universities. Subjects – 232 LIS research articles published between 2001 and 2007. Methods – Data from the 2008 U.K. Research Assessment Exercise were checked to identify 405 research articles submitted by 10 selected university departments (out of a total of 21), which submitted research in the LIS category. The Web of Science database was then searched to see how many of these articles had been cited in other articles (n=232). If the citing article was published in a non-LIS journal it was considered a knowledge export. Journals were defined as non-LIS if they had not been assigned the subject category of Information Science & Library Science by the Journal of Citation Reports. The journal Impact Factors (IFs) of citing journals were then normalized to measure the value of individual knowledge exports to their respective subject disciplines. This was done by comparing a citing journal’s IF with the median journal IF within that subject category. If the citing journal’s IF was above this median it was considered to be a valuable knowledge export. Main Results – The sample of LIS research articles produced a total of 1,061 knowledge exports in 444 unique non-LIS journals. These non-LIS journals covered 146 unique subject categories of which those related to computer science and chemistry/pharmacology cited LIS research with the greatest frequency. Just over three-quarters (n=798) of these citations were considered to be valuable knowledge exports. A sub-analysis showed that LIS articles published in non-LIS journals were significantly more valuable than the knowledge exports published in LIS journals. Conclusion – The validity of bibliometric studies can be improved by adopting the two methodological innovations presented in this study. The first innovation is to avoid over-estimating the number of knowledge exports by discounting “part exports” (i.e., where the citing journal is assigned to multiple subject categories, one of which includes the same as that of the cited reference). The second innovation introduced by this study is to add an extra dimension to the analysis by measuring the value of each knowledge export by taking into account the “normalized” impact factor of citing journals.

Abstract: This qualitative study aims at conceptualizing research impact generally by studying the specific case of research impact in the field of education. An analysis process akin to grounded theory was applied to the analysis of sections of reports provided by educational researchers. Literature on the subject of research impact was used to substantiate and complete the portrait of educational research impact that emerged from the data. The resulting conceptual framework proposes five interdependent stages, each one characteristic of certain categories of research impact that are typically interrelated in time and in terms of researcher control. It is hoped that this conceptual framework will help program evaluators and researchers tackle the larger task of uncovering and arguing the meaningfulness of alternative ways of measuring the impacts of research in the social sciences and humanities.

Abstract:
AbstractA bibliometric analysis of research articles published on water-use efficiency was performed using the Web of Science database and evaluated. Journal titles, publication years, subject categories, keywords and countries publishing were obtained. A number of 2077 papers were retrieved, two-thirds of them published in the last decade. The articles were published in 439 journals, with Agricultural Water Management, Agronomy Journal, Crop Science, Field Crops Research and Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences the most productive. Most of the leading productive journals have Impact Factors in the top quartiles of the Journal Citation Reports. Agronomy, Plant Sciences, Water Resources and Agriculture Multidisciplinary were the most common journal subject categories, indicating a wide diversity of research fields ascribed to this topic. The predominant key words and phrases used were growth, ‘carbon isotope discrimination’, yield, photosynthesis, ‘gas exchange’, evapotranspiration and ‘stomatal conductance’. The productivity ranking for countries was headed by China (456 papers), followed by the USA (410), Australia (176) and India (165). A content analysis of the papers made identification of the key issues of greatest scientific concern possible, as well as their evolution over time. The most cited papers relate to physiological aspects, but also important studies on experimental biology, drought resistance, effects of climate, crop production and ecology, among others.

Abstract:
A comprehensive study has yet to be carried out depending on the historical environment particular to the Elementary Schools in Northern Cyprus. The aim of this study is hence to determine whether the coverage of historical environment subjects in elementary school social sciences textbooks is absorbed or not by the 4th and 5th Grades in the context of both content and visuals. The method of study analysed has been organised in accordance with the qualitative research. The population was not indicated pursuant to qualitative research and so purposive sampling was implemented. The textbooks used were mainly selected from the afore-mentioned grades and classes. All the data collected were based on the textbooks used during the assessment process. The data was gathered in accordance with the document analysis technique and everything was analysed in detail. The categories used were generated after the authors performed analysis by utilising textbooks. To ensure the validity of the categories, literature scanning was undertaken and expert opinion was taken. The category definitions were written for public access. Moreover, units, titles and sub-titles were chosen as registration units and studied accordingly. Thus, the texts in the textbooks were guaranteed to cover the sufficient coverage and dimension for teaching the subject. The frequency of categories used under the text in historical environment was given and the number of words for the scope was also indicated. The size of visuals used in textbooks was given in accordance with the categories. As a result of the study, while 5th Grade textbooks cover historical environment subjects, there was no indication for the 4th Grade textbooks. Keywords: social sciences, textbooks, North Cyprus, historical environment, elementary school.

Abstract:
Ethnomethodologists have emphasized the pragmatic and contextual nature of description as a variety of social practice, and have suggested the ramifications of this insight for the methodology and philosophy of the social sciences. However, ethnomethodologists have thereby invited difficult questions about the moral and analytic status of their own descriptions. Drawing on Atkinson’s study of suicide verdicts and Coulter’s writings on schizophrenia, ethnomethodological scholarship is shown to display the possibility and promise of disinterested description, even when the subject matter involves the evaluation of problematic actions and identities. The combination of Wittgensteinian logical grammar and empirical studies of natural language use, suggested by Coulter, is presented as especially relevant and remarkable for purposes of studying social practices including describing, naming, categorizing, classifying, labeling, diagnosing, reaching a verdict, and kindred practices of language use conceived as varieties of practical action.

Demographic changes and increasing diversity in the United States bring about changes in how people define themselves and how they categorize others. I describe three issues that are relevant to the labeling and self-definition of ethnic groups in U.S. society: (1) the creation and definition of identity categories, (2) the subjectivity of self-definition, and (3) the flexibility of identity expression. In each case, substantial research from social psychology and related disciplines supports a socially constructed definition and use of ethnic categories, wherein identities are subject to the influence of local and national norms and are amenable to change across situations and over time.

Abstract:
Fiberglass is spanned into glass fibers and Fiberglass insulation is intrinsically fire-resistantant and is then mixed with plastic polymers. Although fiberglass won't produce, you should exercise caution when using paper- or foil-backed pads because they can burn very quickly. Compared to conventional non-flammable materials, FRP is combustion and presents a number of difficulties. Fire safety precautions and safety barriers are critical. Glass fiber is an inorganic substance with excellent mechanical strength, superior thermal insulation, and strong heat resistance. Glazed wired glassware and ceramic glass are the two main categories of fire-rated glass. Glazed wire glass, the earliest glass fire solution currently accessible, is produced with strands of wire or wire mesh inserted inside the material during manufacturing. Fabrics like wool and Kevlar will resist flames longer than cotton or linen because of how their fibers are naturally structured. These are the best textiles to protect your home from fire. Materials such as Nomex, Kevlar, and Modacrylic are frequently used to construct parts of FR clothing because they have good flame-retardant properties. Other fabrics, like cotton, have built-in flame resistance and can be chemically treated to boost their barrier properties and defensive capabilities. Glass fiber Composites containing fiber reinforcement are used in the construction sector because of their high specific flexibility and strength properties, high damping, superior corrosion resistance, as well as low thermal expansion (cold station construction), in aeroplanes, and in land and sea vehicles, among other applications. Unfortunately, epoxy poses a risk to life and property due to its flammability and considerable gas and fume emissions.Reducing their fire hazards is usually accomplished by adding A protective FR coating from around composite improves the fire resistance of the manufactured parts by adding a fire retardant (Br) to the polymer matrix. Composite and responsive FR are the two forms of FR that have so far been incorporated within composite systems. The research done over the past 10 years to increase the fire excellent resistance of glass fibre reinforcement epoxy composites by integrating both varieties of FRs is the main subject of this review. This article also provides an overview of the geopolymer research that has been done to improve the heavy armour of epoxy-based materials. The possibility for improving the fire resistance qualities of fibre reinforcement epoxy by using geopolymer as one of the FRs composites is also presented in this paper, opening up some options for further research. Abstract:
The use of categories is a contested subject in social sciences. The use of social categories allows researchers to explore similarities, differences, and inequalities between groups of people. However, by using social categories, researchers run the risk of essentializing differences. The aim of this article is to problematize the procedural and relational ethics of using categories in research with children. Based on two research projects studying inclusion and exclusion in physical education, we examine the ongoing ethical dilemmas of categorizing children in terms of disability and ethnic background. The reflections are grounded in intersectional and relational ethical perspectives with a focus on how power is manifested in practices and structures throughout the research process. The data consist of field notes, transcripts of interviews with children and their parents, and the authors’ reflective accounts. The results are organized into three main themes: (1) How categories frame the research in its initial phases (informed consent and voluntary participation), (2) power relationships in context (navigating meanings of categories in the interviews and the relational ethics of generational ordering in combined interviews with children and their parents), and (3) (re)constructing stories and ensuring anonymity. In the discussion, we reflect on how singling out groups of children framed the research, how categories and power relations were negotiated and navigated in interviews and fieldwork, and how, in the reporting of the results, understandings of the children and their experiences were constructed. We argue that by not reflecting on the ethics of categorizing children in research, researchers are in danger of reproducing rather than challenging social inequality and discrimination.

Abstract:
The publication aims to analyze public security and public order in conceptual and institutional terms as an analytical category of security sciences. The legislator defines neither public security nor public order. So far, they have been treated mainly as categories of administrative law. It is therefore important to assign them analytical content in the new scientific discipline. The research results allowed for the presentation of the thesis that public security and public order are mainly connected with protection against pathological phenomena occurring in the public space, which are minimized by institutions established to ensure it. These categories should constitute the research field (subject) of the security sciences. The research problem formulated in the form of the question: How are public security and public order treated in definitional and institutional terms? The problem was solved based on a critical analysis of the literature. The paper uses theoretical research methods, including analysis of literature and phenomena occurring in society and inference – as a cognitive factor of the subject of analysis. A critical analysis of the literature on this issue played a large role in the cognitive process.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this study is to learn what factors liaison librarians in academic research libraries consider in determining whether to refer chat reference patrons to subject specialists. Design/methodology/approach Subject specialists were asked what policies guided their decisions to refer to a specialist and then assessed unreferred chat session transcripts both within and outside their specializations to determine need for a referral. Findings Few respondents were guided by formal policies. Contrary to an initial hypothesis, subject area was not a key factor in referring chat. A broader set of criteria included reference interviewing, provision of relevant resources and information literacy instruction. Respondents valued both the depth that subject specialists can provide to reference interactions and the ability of a skilled generalist to support information literacy. Research limitations/implications Findings are most applicable to large, public doctoral universities with liaison librarian programs. Assignment of respondents to subject specialist categories was complicated by their broad range of background and expertise. Practical implications The study contributes new understanding of referrals to subject specialists who have potential to guide development of formal referral policies in academic library virtual reference services. Originality/value The study is the first empirical examination of chat reference referral decisions.

Abstract:
In his Categories, Aristotle details the kinds of being that exist, along with what can be understood and predicated of existing things. Most notably within this work, Aristotle advances a set of ten, top-level categories that can be used to classify all kinds of being. Even today, the influence of the Categories is felt in many domains, particularly in knowledge organization (KO). Here, Aristotle’s Categories bear deep, long-standing connections with works examining categorization, subject analysis, and theory of classification. Though its relation to ontology might seem obvious, connections to KO perspectives on knowledge organization systems (KOSs) and ontological modeling are curiously lacking. The aim of this work is to offer a re-examination of the Categories as a KOS, particularly through the lens of the KO field’s understandings of ontology. Utilizing Zeng’s classification of KOSs as a theoretical framework, this study draws parallels between the first two sections of the Categories and the defining features of ontologies and offers an initial ontological model of this work. The results of this re-examination stand to offer a new view of a fundamental work in the KO canon, draw further connections between past and present perspectives in KO, and further contribute to the theoretical grounding of contemporary KOS research and practice.

Abstract:
The subject of the research is the description of intercategorial interactions in non-prototypical taxis constructions of the German language. The aim of the work is to analyze the intercategorical connections of taxis with the semantic categories of instrumentality, conditionality, causality, concession and consecutivity. The mutual connections of the above categories specify the second-taxis actualization or adverbial-taxis categorical meanings of simultaneity in utterances with prepositional-deverb combinations. The relevance of the research is related to the lack of study of the issue of intercategorial relationships of semantic categories established at the paradigmatic level and implemented in a syntagmatic context, that is, in non-prototypical taxis constructions with adverbial prepositions. It is revealed that the relationships of interacting categories are realized in concrete speech utterances with prepositional-deverbative constructions with prepositions of instrumental, conditional, causal, concessive, consecutive semantics bei, mit, durch, wegen, aus, vor, ungeachtet, trotz, infolge. They condition the actualization of such second-taxis categorical meanings of simultaneity as instrumental-taxis, medial-taxis, conditional-taxis, concessive-taxis and consequential-taxis.

Abstract:
Metadiscourse is now a widely used term in academic discourse analysis. How academics employ rhetorical devices to structure their texts, establish reader-writer interaction and stamp their authorial stance regarding the conventions of the disciplines, cultures, and genres has been the subject of many studies. Despite the growing prominence of the term, however, some features of it, one of which is frame markers, have gone unnoticed. Frame markers signal the boundaries in the academic discourse for the readers' understanding, and they are a crucial rhetorical feature of metadiscourse. The present study examines the deployment of frame markers in research articles written between 2010 and 2019. Based on the analysis of frame markers in a corpus of research articles across four disciplines in social sciences, there were marked variations across the four disciplines in the use of frame markers and the occurrences of their sub-categories. The findings suggested that academic communities have a decisive role in constructing text structures in research articles. The results might offer guidance to academic writers on shaping the texts that their readers find persuasive.

AbstractThe identification of one’s own research strengths is of crucial importance for research administration at universities. In this case study, two different approaches were applied to the University of Vienna. The first relies on funding and rankings information as well as on other esteem indicators. The second is based on a bibliometric analysis of the publication output. We used two alternative clusterings for publications for the bibliometric analysis: Web of Science subject categories and lists of researchers associated with esteem-indicators. Both, esteem-indicators and bibliometric analysis proved to be useful in identifying research strengths, lead to similar results and are meant to be used together to complement each other. We found that the greatest hindrance in the bibliometric approach lies in the inherent limitations of journals-assignment-based classification systems and the considerable time and efforts for more accurate researcher-based publication analyses. Further investigation on this subject, including new and alternative metrics, is needed and will be conducted in the future. However, the preliminary results already demonstrate the benefits of using esteem-factors together with bibliometric analyses for research strengths definition of universities.

Abstract:
AbstractUnderstanding the nature and value of scientific collaboration is essential for sound management and proactive research policies. One component of collaboration is the composition and diversity of contributing authors. This study explores how ethnic diversity in scientific collaboration affects scientific impact, by presenting a conceptual model to connect ethnic diversity, based on author names, with scientific impact, assuming novelty and audience diversity as mediators. The model also controls for affiliated country diversity and affiliated country size. Using path modeling, we apply the model to the Web of Science subject categories Nanoscience & Nanotechnology, Ecology and Information Science & Library. For all three subject categories, and regardless of if control variables are considered or not, we find a weak positive relationship between ethnic diversity and scientific impact. The relationship is weaker, however, when control variables are included. For all three fields, the mediated effect through audience diversity is substantially stronger than the mediated effect through novelty in the relationship, and the former effect is much stronger than the direct effect between the ethnic diversity and scientific impact. Our findings further suggest that ethnic diversity is more associated with short-term scientific impact compared to long-term scientific impact.

Abstract:
This article provides a bibliometric study of the sentiment analysis literature based on Web of Science (WoS) until the end of 2016 to evaluate current research trends, quantitatively and qualitatively. We concentrate on the analysis of scientific documents, distribution of subject categories, languages of documents and languages that have been more investigated in sentiment analysis, most prolific and impactful authors and institutions, venues of publications and their geographic distribution, most cited and hot documents, trends of keywords and future works. Our investigations demonstrate that the most frequent subject categories in this field are computer science, engineering, telecommunications, linguistics, operations research and management science, information science and library science, business and economics, automation and control systems, robotics and social sciences. In addition, the most active venue of publication in this field is Lecture Notes in Computer Science ( LNCS). The United States, China and Singapore have the most prolific or impactful institutions. A keyword analysis demonstrates that sentiment analysis is a more accepted term than opinion mining. Twitter is the most used social network for sentiment analysis and Support Vector Machine ( SVM) is the most used classification method. We also present the most cited and hot documents in this field and authors’ suggestions for future works.

Abstract:
The purpose of the paper is to study the peculiarities of implementation of such textual categories as completeness, connectivity, dialogization in electronic letter. Object of study is electronic correspondence and the subject is the style, structure, syntax of letters. Material of the research includes published letters of the Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor R. G. Barantsev to colleagues and friends, as well as their response letters. Descriptive method, methods of contextual and communicative-pragmatical analysis are used in the research. Practical application of the research is possible while teaching the syntax and stylistics of Russian language. Conclusion: speech implementation of a number of textual categories in electronic letters has its own characteristics. Such boundary demarcators of the epistolary text as address, signature, etiquette formulas of greeting and farewell are reducing (in whole or in part) if the exchange of messages is frequent, thereby the formal completeness of the text is weakening. The dialogization in electronic correspondence is formed not only by the linguistic means typical for written messages (address, signature, pronouns and verb forms of the 2nd person), but also in other ways, such as direct quotation instead of transmitting someone else's speech as direct or indirect speech, language game as a stylistic device that forms a certain tone of communication. The widespread use of incomplete and one-compound sentences, pronouns that are not related to the antecedent, increases the importance of common apperception base of the participants in communication for understanding the text and continuing the epistolary dialogue. Specifying the subject of speech by pronouns with the absence of its introductory nomination in a letter, sending to previous texts of the correspondence by pronouns and particles, stylistic unity within the chain of letters exchanged between two correspondents are the means that enhance the coherence of the text, extend it beyond a separate letter and transform the exchange of monologue texts into a continuous epistolary discourse.

Abstract:
There is a view in contemporary philosophy of science according to which scientific methodology itself is subject to radical change as part of scientific progress. According to this view, change in science is not confined to accepted theories. The core principles of scientific theory appraisal, including the rules and categories used to rank and confer truth-values on theories, are also said to be subject to radical change as science develops. In this paper, I examine Ian Hacking’s (1975; 1980; 1982; 1983; 1985; 1996; 1999; 2012) version of this no-invariant-methodology thesis. I argue that, just like Thomas Kuhn’s “paradigms,” Larry Laudan’s “research traditions,” and Imre Lakatos’ “research programmes,” Hacking’s “styles of reasoning” fail to give an adequate account of scientific progress.

Abstract:
This inquiry aims to determine the ways and means through which the accuracy category manifests itself in the news genre and to identify internal contradictions formed by the interaction between logical and semantic components of the expression. The objectives were as follows: to determine how the accuracy category is presented through the categories of subject, time, and place of action, what are the transformative possibilities of these categories in the field of adequate transmission of meaning, which linguistic means actualize the accuracy category or, on the contrary, “blur” it. Continuous sampling, analysis and synthesis, transformational, and descriptive methods were used in the research process. We confirm that the subject in the headline is delivered explicitly and implicitly in the conclusions presenting the research results. “Nonsubjectivity” is realized using indefinite (non-personal) forms of the predicate or can be determined through a locus. For news headlines, the locus is an essential component, its place in the sentence can adjust the semantic accents of the statement. The time category in analyzed titles is almost always explicit. The accuracy category is most clearly manifested in direct indications of time and place and in two-syllable sentences where the subject of the action is specified.
