Abstract:
PurposeThis paper explores the institutional and economic drivers of employability, as existing literature focuses on the individual and skills aspects, of employability. Tertiary institutions, possessing a strong academic reputation and standing amongst potential employers, will achieve high graduate employability, however when measured, this is not the case.Design/methodology/approachThis exploratory study builds on Santos' career boundary theory, recognising organisational boundaries; those related to the labour market, personal-aspects and finally, cultural boundaries (Santos, 2020). 37 Universities that provided their employability rate, within 12 months of graduation for 2020, are analysed. The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Ranking, measures drivers in terms of institutional reputation through survey responses, and partnerships with employers via research and placement data.FindingsThe regression explained 19% of the variation between the number of graduates being employed and the institutional and economic drivers. Universities in the same economic context, do not have the same number of employed students. Equally, those universities with the most favourable academic reputation, do not have the most employed student rate.Research limitations/implicationsOnly 37 universities provided all their employability data, thus, research with a larger sample will have to be conducted, but equally more needs to be done to establish why the smaller universities are unable to submit all the required data.Originality/valueAn exploratory understanding of the institutional and economic drivers of employability, is provided.

Abstract:
The concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) has been embedded across psychological and physical frontiers of organizations building up on philanthropy, ethics, regulation, and economy. However, there is a lack of empirical evidence that how CSR gears up various aspects of an organization. The major objective of the present study is to explain the multidimensional catalytic role of CSR in transforming brand equity from brand reputation in the fast-food industry. The study has been designed to get responses through a structured questionnaire to analyze the data through descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. Sample size of 420 consumers and employees of international fast-food chains, located in Pakistan, with diverse demographical profiles have been involved for the survey. Three models were developed to understand the aforementioned phenomenon; the first model examines the impact of brand reputation on brand equity, and the second model reassesses the same relationship with moderating role of CSR, while the third model evaluates the associations with each dimension of CSR. The results indicate that brand reputation is a significant predictor of brand equity, and its predictive power boosts up in the presence of CSR activities. It was also ascertained that CSR initiatives related to ethics, economy, and philanthropy expedite the process of conversion from brand reputation to brand equity. The legal aspect of CSR in developing economies could not prove to be fruitful in this particular context. The research would provide great insight to the managers of fast-food retail chains to evaluate investments for CSR activities in raising equity of their organizations.

Giordano, Christian. "Honour in Different Cultures and Legal Systems." ICR Journal 1, no. 4 (July 15, 2010): 685–96. http://dx.doi.org/10.52282/icr.v1i4.709.

Abstract:
This article intends to point up characteristics shared by societies in which honour still retains a major social significance. These affinities must obviously not be regarded as cultural constants but rather as ‘family resemblances’ between analogous yet distinct socio-cultural phenomena. Unlike most authors who represent honour as the expression of specific moral values or religious belonging, this article endeavours to highlight the importance of transactional and interactional social aspects that characterise the ongoing rivalries, tensions and conflicts between groups and individuals with a view to confirm their own status, prestige and reputation. Under this aspect, the struggle for the recognition and permanent management of one’s own social standing or class-belonging becomes crucial, not least because status, prestige and reputation ultimately grant easier access to economic resources. Symbolic capital grounded in honour can be turned into economic capital, while loss of honour may lead to being excluded from activities that guarantee forms of prosperity, albeit limited. This point of view allows explaining phenomena deemed criminal, such as ‘honour killings’, while avoiding any ethnocentric prejudice.

Abstract:
This paper aims to explore the relationship between corporate reputation and social responsibility (CSR) in selected large Croatian companies. The research is based on the theoretical framework that supports a thesis of their positive relationship. CSR is measured through economic, environmental, and social aspects and is primarily based on testing the relationship between CSR and financial performance to determine whether the relationship is positive, neutral or negative. Many researchers have concluded that it is generally positive, depending on which measures of financial performance are used. At the same time, corporate reputation is considered as a key mediator in the relationship between a firm's CSR and financial performance. In this concept of CSR, reputation is a global perception of a group of stakeholders, its assessment of the credibility of the organization's projection. Company reputations may vary from one stakeholder to another depending of their expectations, which are dynamic and likely to change over time. It is within this context of company relationships with its stakeholders that determines the level of reputation a company will develop over time. Thus corporate reputation will be directly and significantly related to CSR. Based on this hypothesis, they are a few objectives of this research. The first is to analyze the significance of the proposed corporate attributes according to company and customer perspective. For that purpose, seven practical and theoretical background attributes are selected and ranked - quality of products and services, corporate vision and strategy, quality of management leadership, labor force, financial performance, social and environmental responsibility, and corporate governance. Second is to propose indicators for each reputation attribute and rank them according to their significance collected by surveying large companies executives. Third is to analyze the correlation between socially responsible companies and their reputation. The research results show that one of the corporate attributes CSR - is ranked very low from the point of view of company executives and employees, but very high from the perspective of consumers. Among the indicators which represent socially responsible performance, financial performance is ranked first, followed by ecological and social performance. A positive relationship between financial performance and corporate reputation has been statistically confirmed; i.e., socially responsible Croatian large companies have better financial results measured by ROA, ROE, margin profit and EPS.

Abstract:
This paper deals with various aspects of the performance expected from some of the most relevant European institutions (monetary and tax authorities, unions) vis-a-vis alternative ones, from a macroeconomic point of view. The role of the rules (e.g. the Stability and Growth Pact) as a coordination device to deal with externalities arising from national fiscal policies is first considered and compared to explicit coordination. The priority given to price stability is then discussed together with the questions of reputation, credibility and the relationship with fiscal policy and labour markets. A conservative central bank eliminates the temptation to inflate, but is only a second-best solution for internalising the externalities arising from uncoordinated-wage bargaining. The paper finally discusses the consequences on growth of the stability pursued by actual European institutions. Some reflections on the ‘model’ adopted for shaping European institutions conclude the paper.

Abstract:
Reputation is a strategic asset for firms, but has been poorly studied in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in relation to their financial and stock-market performance. This work aimed to predict the probability of a firm being included in a pharmaceutical reputation index (Merco and PatientView), and the position it occupies, according to its economic–financial and stock-market outcomes and its geographical location. Fifty firms with excellent sales in 2019 and their rankings in 2017–2019 were employed. The methodology followed was logistic regression. Their research and development (R&D) expenditures and dividends strongly influenced them being included in both rankings. Non-Asian pharmaceutical companies were more likely to belong to the two reputation indices than Asian ones, and to occupy the best positions in the Merco ranking. Although no large differences appeared in the firms in both indices, differences were found in the position that pharmaceutical companies occupied in rankings and in the variables that contribute to them occupying these positions. Being in PatientView influenced dividends, sales, and income, while appearing in Merco showed accounting aspects like value in books and debt ratio.

Abstract:
Subject. This article considers the activities of international environmental and other non-profit organizations, in the context of continuing economic integration of countries. Their humanitarian reputation, potential, and pervasiveness are increasingly being used by the West in unfair competition in the markets for natural resource extraction and territory development. Objectives. The aim is to identify and assess possible threats to the economic security of the State, associated with the activities of environmental and other non-profit organizations in its territory. Methods. The study employs the dialectical method, systems approach, and tabular interpretation of empirical and factual information. In view of little knowledge of the problem in economic science, for our empirical reasoning and hypotheses, we perform the analysis of resonant examples of the influence of international organizations on economic processes in the State. Results. We examined negative aspects of activities of environmental organizations, potentially posing a threat to the economic security of the State. We analyzed examples that confirm the illegal actions of such movements, predicted their possible consequences, assessed resonant situations associated with the functioning of Greenpeace, WWF, and attempts to establish external control over political, social, and economic projects of the State. Conclusions. International non-profit organizations have a direct impact on government processes in the Russian Federation. It is important to establish and develop national environmental structures, implement awareness-raising activities, and support domestic science.

Abstract:
This response to Tee Guidotti's (2008) critique of Elaine Draper's The Company Doctor: Risk, Responsibility, and Corporate Professionalism (2003) argues that a forthright examination of the conflicts of those working in the field of occupational medicine is essential to maintaining the health of the profession and to promoting constructive policies. Research for The Company Doctor reveals how doctors walk a tightrope of professional demands on them. The author describes how corporate employment affects medicine and science and how professionals working in corporations are subject to the decisions of company managers and to economic and legal imperatives stemming from their status as corporate employees. Analyzing company doctors' role in confronting toxics and responding to liability fears in corporations, the author argues that problems of lost credibility, stigmatization, and tarnished reputation that company doctors describe largely stem from the organizational constraints, economic interests, and other aspects of the social context of their work. These social forces exert powerful pressure on the ethical framework and daily work lives of these professionals as well as on the reputation of their field. The author discusses ways in which the conflicting demands from being both a corporate employee and a physician are a social and structural problem beyond individual ethics.

Today, for the effective and secure economic development of the hotel industry, it is necessary to ensure the safety of guests, employees and others; maintain brand reputation; form an environment of safety and sufficient transparency of the information resources of the enterprise for hotel guests. Modernity constantly forms new requirements for ensuring the economic security of hotel and restaurant industry enterprises, which is due to many aspects of the world economy. Thus, globalization trends, technical and technological development, consequences of COVID-19 coronavirus infection and other circumstances create new risks and threats. The formation of conditions for the secure development of hotel and restaurant industry enterprises is influenced by many factors. The speed of technical and technological development creates new methods of providing services, such as: distribution systems, electronic bookings, rental apartments with a list of services to choose from. As a result, constant changes in the external environment of hotel and restaurant industry enterprises become a source of risks and threats to their economic security. Abstract:
The active use of the latest information technologies and non-cash payment forms has led to an increase in various types of fraud in the financial sector. Moreover, virtually all spheres of public relations now fall under the risk of fraudulent schemes, starting from financial credit and insurance and ending with foreign economic activity and the Internet. In addition, some other economic factors contribute to the significant spread of fraudulent schemes in modern conditions: a wide variety of new financial instruments (types of money, securities, financial services); rapid growth in financial transactions; leveling barriers to the unhindered movement of money, goods, and services in the process of globalization, which provokes an increase in transnational financial crime. Therefore, in search of tools to preserve existing and generate potential income, especially trusting investors fall into the traps of scammers. With the development of the current economic institutionalism, the principle of rationality in human economic behavior was no longer considered absolute, therefore, representatives of the institutional theory noted the irrational nature of human behavior, including in the field of economics and finance. Modern reality and economic practice are clear evidence of the truthfulness of this thesis. After all, despite the constant warnings of the mass media and other sources regarding various fraudulent schemes, as well as (paradoxically) often their own negative experience, citizens continue to invest in various kinds of fraudulent schemes. According to experts, the main reason is that «people will always strive for «easy» money, and it is unlikely that this desire will ever disappear» (Bruton, 2015). In this paper, we study the possibilities of preventing financial fraud on an international scale. In the context of the complexity of modern business processes, one of the most urgent problems has become the problem of activating the manifestations of corporate fraud. On average, companies lose about 5% of their profits due to corporate fraud, and the annual losses from such economic crimes amount to about USD 4 trillion on a global scale. In Russia, this figure reaches 15% (and we are talking only about losses made public by companies). The lion’s share of fraudulent schemes falls on the banking sector. The implementation of fraudulent schemes in the banking sector has certain features, in particular: fraudulent actions cause damage not only to banks and their depositors, but also negatively affect the stability of the financial system as a whole; such crimes are characterized by high latency, since managers, fearing for the business reputation of their bank, only in isolated cases turn to law enforcement agencies with appropriate statements; identifying the facts of financial fraud is very difficult since fraudsters (often not without the help of bank managers) hide their actions in every possible way and take measures to launder funds obtained by criminal means.

Abstract:
The Family Business, as a phenomenon that explains the economic dynamism of the countries, has been studied from several points of view, standing out among them the Succession, the Corporate Governance or the factors that condition its Competitiveness. On the other hand, there are fewer specific studies about organization´s vision relating Communication Management and its impact on the achievement of success. The study aims to determine whether the concept of communication is considered by family entrepreneurs as a key success factor within their general vision of management and strategy. And subject to it, it tries to unravel the vision that businessmen and businesswomen have in the field of Communication from the terms related to this matter that they use most in their testimonies. Likewise, the work proceeds to characterize the different roles that these business leaders confer on Communication from the instrumental point of view, as a tool that contributes to solving specific aspects of management. The research is based on a review of the literature generated by scholars in the field of Intangible Resources and Business Reputation. It´s also focused on the analysis referred to the phenomenon known as the Family Business. From this theoretical framework, the object of study is based on the stories or testimonies of the forty businessmen collected over almost 800 pages in the two volumes that set up the work of KPMG entitled Those who leave their mark. The content and speech analysis techniques are used for their study. The work confirms the importance of Communication in the transmission of the values that guide the activity of companies and make a difference with respect to their key competitors; hence, the intangibles that contribute to the configuration of business reputation. Likewise, based on the businessmen's own testimonies, the instrumental functions that businessmen confer on Communication for the achievement of their corporate and business objectives are identified. As highlight in the study, the management of business intangibles is one of the latest and most important innovations in modern business management, and its leading role is the result of the evolution of strategic management towards new value niches within companies and its Communication´s development. Besides, in recent years, Communication has shifted its focus from the product to the brand, image and reputation of the companies. Furthermore, within the resources included in the category of intangibles, reputation has become the real territory in which companies compete to win the favour of their clients and consolidate their position in the markets. This relevance acquired by reputation has led some authors to speak of the “reputation economy” to refer to the new economic and social paradigm in which we find ourselves.

Abstract:
The overall transition towards a low-carbon economy is expected to pose a solution for several global problems, including the ongoing climate change while ensuring economic and social development. Large oil and gas companies are aware of the need to transform their business, turn to renewable and clean energy sources to build a positive image and reputation, and have the economic power to do so. This paper aims to evaluate the marketing communication of leading European oil and gas companies on their Instagram accounts in the context of reputation building through using social media and identify to what extent the companies reflect the environmental aspects of corporate social responsibility. Content analysis and the Social Blade tool were used to examine the marketing communication of the five biggest companies by revenue. All the companies are active on Instagram, but it has been found that the Russian companies have remained inactive and have even been losing followers since March 2022, when the war conflict in Ukraine started. Surprisingly, Shell uploaded only a few posts during the reference period but is recognized as the company achieving the highest social media effectiveness. Although all observed oil and gas companies continue their business as usual, they incorporate and communicate efforts to support the development of electromobility, clean and renewable energy projects, as well as ecological projects.

Abstract:
The author has analyzed ranking indexes of the state in the period before and after active European integrational practices – in 2013 and in 2019. The indexes which, by their content, correspond to the principles which serve as a foundation for social and economical policy of the EU have been paid attention to. As a result, it has been concluded that the reputational progress of Ukraine is conditioned by European integration reforms, in particular, in the areas of entrepreneurship, economic rights and freedoms, information openness in relation to economics and public finances, creating conditions for citizens to manage their property and labor. The study highlights those aspects of the socio-economic plane that are sensitive to European integration processes: migration processes to increase labor, touristic and academic mobility. It has been stated the dual nature of the geographical reorientation of labor migration from Ukraine to the West in contrast to the Russian Federation, due to both the worsening of labor conditions and environmental safety in Russia and the simplification of employment procedures in the EU countries. It is emphasized that this layering of circumstances, in fact, made a choice on behalf of people and European integration in this case is a favorable condition, not a key reason. Four levels of European integration factor in the socio-economic development of Ukraine have been emphasized: adaptation of domestic legislation to the integration of principles and values of EU policy into Ukrainian practices; support and acceleration of systemic reforms, correlated with the European integration course by means of macro-financial assistance and loans; assistance in activation and reorientation of social mobility of Ukrainians to the European direction – within the framework of labor migration, academic mobility and touristic flows; improvement of Ukraine’s reputation indexes in world’s rankings.

Abstract:
A container terminal is a facility used to collect containers from the hinterland and ports for distribution to the end destination. Based on these essential functions, container terminals often reflect the economic conditions in a country. Many studies have recently examined the use of business impact analysis (BIA) when disruption happens at a container terminal. In sustainability and business impact research, the economy is one of the prioritized aspects of impact analysis. The impact related to the economic aspect is generally caused by disruptions resulting from natural disasters, pandemics, and human activities (terrorists, labor issues, and lockouts). Until this article was conducted, there was still little literature explaining the business impact analysis procedures with case studies of disruptions in container terminals related to operational constraints. This paper aims to provide a perspective in deepening and adapting the BIA procedure initially general into an analysis that can be applied to the container terminal business. This paper takes a case study of BIA in a container terminal caused by electrical disruption. Based on the research, six categories of disruption became a concern when the port’s electricity supply stopped, i.e., decreased productivity, economic loss, reduced employee productivity, decreased numbers of customers, a decline in company reputation, and wasted energy.

Abstract:
The article analyses the implementation of the principles of environmental self-restoration and dynamic adaptability of trade enterprises. Solving the problems of introducing environmental aspects of sustainable development into the activities of trade enterprises and developing waste disposal methodologies are important tasks for the country's economy. It is offered to develop a methodology (system) of waste processing, which are formed in the process of consumption of commodity-material values in trade. The methodology includes the following factors: cost-effectiveness, social significance of disposal, safety of waste processing, resource saving, environmental reputation. The method includes several stages: analysis of the regulatory framework, the settlement and analytical stage, and the final stage - the assessment of economic efficiency. The main difference between the method and the one developed earlier is in an integrated approach to justifying the creation of a modern waste treatment system in commercial enterprises. The offered method develops the theory of economic and investment analysis, as well as the theory of making management decisions in managing the development of commercial enterprises.

Risk management has been widely studied and applied in oil and gas pipeline projects, but the reality is that the impacts still occur. This is due to the ineffectiveness of existing risk management applications, so of course in this case an effective risk management system is needed, in which risk management must pay attention to all aspects that exist, both internal aspects, external aspects, and other aspects that can affect and influenced by existing risks and risk management not only can be used as a preventive method. But it can also support sustainable development targets. This paper presents the application of risk management by oil and gas companies in Indonesia that has been adapted to ISO 31000:2009 as a framework that can integrate various other management processes, including the management of HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) risk in the hope of that sustainable development can be achieved . But in the reality it can not be denied that the activities that continue to this day still cause negative impact, especially for the environment. International oil and gas companies nowadays place more emphasis on preventive measures than the methods of mitigation. Thus it shows that the concept of sustainable development has not been fully considered in risk management applications. The existence of a continuous negative impact would greatly affect the credibility of oil and gas companies. Based on the results of research conducted with the hybrid method and analyzed with the help of System Dynamics it can be concluded that there are 3 (three) factors that can affect reputation risk, these factors are social, environmental, and economic and the model built in this study shows that it will can help the oil and gas company players to predict and improve the company’s reputation.

Abstract:
The primary challenge in project management is to achieve all of the defined project goals and objectives while adhering to typical constraints which are usually scope, quality, time, and budget. Often, the basic flaw in project planning and design is the complete neglect or minimal consideration of environmental and social costs and dependence only on economic analysis for project preparation and investment. A failure to understand and internalize adverse or negative impacts on environment during project preparation could lead to several undesirable consequences, which may ultimately jeopardize the very objectives of growth and development for which the project was proposed. In this paper, the author stresses upon the need for environmental management for successful project completion and discusses the challenges of addressing the key environmental issues. Environmental management is not just about the ‘trees and bees’ but also about health, safety, profits, quality assurance, reduced risks to reputation, and increased global competitiveness, states the author. Overall, it is about efficiency and reducing environmental and legal liabilities. It is argued that sound environment management reduces the unforeseen obstacles and bottlenecks that may otherwise hamper the delivery of project objectives while helping to improve the environmental performance of project operations. The key environmental issues resulting from agricultural, mining, manufacturing, and urban operations include: severe degradation of air quality due to industrial and vehicular pollution contamination of land and water resources due to pesticides, fertilizers, and dumping of hazardous wastes depletion of raw material reserves contamination of surface and ground water sources due to discharge of sewage and industrial effluents deforestation. Environmental impact assessment (EIA) study is suggested as a tool for formulating an environment management plan. EIA should, however, not be treated just as a tool for regulatory compliance but as an instrument for improving project management per se with proper expertise, time, and budget allocations made for the purpose. In environmental management, the moot question is: How to get started? The author's advice is to start small and simple and gradually turn them into action plans for a worksite and subsequently up-scale them for the entire company. It is ultimately the actions taken at personal or community level or as a project manager that matters the most when it comes to environmental sustainability. Policies and plans merely show the way. It is becoming increasingly important to make environmental management an economic driver that would serve to minimize environmental damages and promote resource efficiency and cost savings to businesses.

AbstractIn this article I discuss how images of the Holocaust are contained in Polish oral narratives and the special way of transmitting them among peasants. Based on materials collected during ethnographic research conducted by Dionizjusz Czubala in the 1970s and 1980s in the southern part of the Świętokrzyskie Province in Poland I try to show, how traditional stereotypes concerning Jews and social relations influence the way of shaping and transmitting stories about the Holocaust. Analysing a sample of texts, I am arguing that core motif connects to the economic aspects of Polish-Jewish relations before and during the Second World War. I also claim that these recollections circulated in a situation that can be described as a pact of silence and therefore fulfilled several significant functions, among which the most important were: a) building and framing knowledge about past events, b) protection of the good reputation of the local community, c) maintaining relatively correct neighbourly relations, d) setting social status by stigmatizing economic contacts with Jews.

Abstract:
Abstract Reviewing and commenting on Lienau’s book Rethinking Sovereign Debt, Politics, Reputation, and Legitimacy, this paper agrees with most of her points, aiming at supporting and complementing rather than contradicting her line of argument. It wants to corroborate her points as well as to bring up aspects that the book does not discuss. It presents two main comments on the more civilized treatment of sovereign debtors before WWII, and on the role of the Bretton Woods Institutions after 1945 that – as Lienau correctly notes – changed the positon of debtors fundamentally. The paper shows that going further back into history than the book did, namely sovereign debts in the nineteenth century, strongly corroborates Lienau’s line of argument regarding the period before WWII. The paper complements the role of the Bretton Woods Institutions with further facts, arguing that their strongly statist view is also self-serving and helpful to support multilateral lending practices violating these institutions’ statutes. Finally, the new tendency back to a non-statist regime she rightly observes is commented on, pointing out that present debt management in the eurozone constitutes a considerable backlash.

Aim. The presented study summarizes the results of the analysis of modern approaches to assessing the higher education system in terms of its impact on the social and economic indicators of a region, describing a stakeholder approach to the classification of factors of a university’s influence on regional development.Tasks. The study aims to consider approaches to examining the activities of universities in the context of their impact on the development of a territory; to comparatively analyze social and economic indicators of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and the education level of the employed population; to update the list of groups of stakeholders of the higher education system and to describe the parameters of university influence on the objects of one of the groups.Methods. This study analyzes the existing approaches of Russian and foreign researchers to assessing the contribution of the higher education system to socio-economic development as well as official statistics on the socio-economic development of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.Results. A considerable number of diverse factors characterizing the influence of the higher education system on socio-economic development are identified. The authors describe the contribution of universities to the development of human capital, innovative and economic development, social policy and environmental well-being of the region. It is noted that the university’s academic reputation affects the competitiveness of the city and facilitates active international cooperation. A comparison of statistics on the proportion of employees with higher education among the working population (DHE) with various indicators of economic and social development of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation shows that many regions with a more skilled workforce have higher gross regional product (GRP) per capita, higher life expectancy at birth, and lower working-age mortality than regions with low DHE. There are also negative trends in the higher education system, such as the declining number of university teaching staff over the last ten years. A stakeholder approach to the classification of factors of university influence on regional development is proposed. A group of stakeholders of the higher education system defined as “society” is introduced. The parameters of university influence on this group are described.Conclusions. The existing influence of universities on the socio-economic development of territories makes it necessary to put issues related to creating conditions for the optimization of interaction between various groups of stakeholders of the higher education system on the federal and regional agendas.

Abstract:
In recent years, great changes have taken place in the economic environment, policies, competitive environment, and market of colleges and universities. Furthermore, factors including the reduction of number of students every year has led to the continuous decline in the number of students enrolled in colleges and universities. Facing this problem, it is essential that colleges and universities should build their own brand value and attract more high school graduates with the brand value of colleges and universities. Nowadays, higher education has been popularized and internationalized, and the competition among colleges and universities has gradually increased. In fact, colleges and universities can obtain high-quality school running resources by relying on their own loyalty, reputation and social status, and can also achieve greater development space in the field of education. Therefore, university managers began to pay attention to their own brand value. The brand value of colleges and universities cannot be directly reflected, but needs to be reflected from different aspects. For this problem, this paper uses analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to study the brand value of colleges and universities. By selecting many aspects as the indicators of the dynamic evaluation system of brand value of colleges and universities, this paper constructs a dynamic evaluation model of brand value of colleges and universities based on analytic hierarchy process. After analysis, the total score of the brand value of a university is 84.12 and the grade is “B.” Based on the analysis of the results, it can be concluded that the overall score of the university is high and has a certain brand value. However, it is weak in talent training and academic reputation.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper is dealing with one of the major challenges confronting the development of forensic accounting primarily legislation to combat fraudulent practices in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The focus of our research is corporate and practice in the finance and banking sectors, since business operations are becoming more complex, especially with the recent developments in information and communication technology and as a consequence of the global pandemics of Covid-19 and the looming economic crisis. This has changed the nature of corporate fraud and fraudulent practices. This study has a primary goal to investigate the theoretical aspects of the integration of forensic accounting and corporate law and related regulation as tools for combating corporate and cyber fraud. In that sense, forensic accounting with a more than strong backing in the legislative aspects is strongly geared towards the minimization of the cost of employed capacities for forensic accounting activities to mitigate and eventually eliminate cyber fraud. The study also explores the effect of integrating forensic accounting and management control systems on banks’ reputations and the huge loss of revenue resulting from cyber fraud. The study develops a conceptual model to show the relationship between forensic accounting, the management control system, and cyber fraud in the banking sector. A legal context analysis methodological research approach was employed to express the relationship amongst the variables considered in this study to reduce corporate and public sector fraud, minimize cost and improve the reputation of corporate and public government sectors. Preliminary research in the formulation of clear conclusions gives an idea of the feasibility of combining the components of forensic accounting, corporate and related laws and regulations, management control systems, and corporate reputation to combat business fraud. This was validated in some general conclusions which resulted in an acceptable, logical, and feasible model of forensic accounting solidly founded in corporate law and structure. Some of the findings are that the speed and ease of convergence process symbiotic integration of forensic accounting and corporate law is the best solution that is feasible and suitable for achieving the set objectives. Our initial conclusion and recommendation are that the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia should introduce legislation that would ensure strict corporate disclosure standards, requirements, and norms as this would defend companies’ critical assets as well as its anti-fraud programs.

This research is motivated by the implementation of corporate social responsibility (CSR) for companies to society and the benefits of implementing CSR for the community. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) in a nutshell can be defined as corporate social responsibility to its stakeholders. Companies that implement CSR will benefit, namely maintaining and boosting the reputation and brand image of the company, can improve relations with stakeholders, improve relations with the government, increase employee morale and productivity and get the opportunity to get awards. The company cannot release its responsibility for both the environment and the surrounding community. If the company still wants sustainability, it must pay attention to both the community and the environment. The purpose of this research is to identify the implementation of CSR by PT. Farinda Bersaudara and identification of benefits received by the community from social, economic and environmental aspects by PT. Farinda Bersaudara. The results of this study indicate that the community's assessment of the company regarding the CSR program on average from the total score of the respondents' answers is 83.44, meaning that most respondents stated that the implementation of CSR at PT. Abstract:
The growing attention to emerging technologies has raised several doubts regarding the sustainability aspects. Among the new technologies, blockchain has laid the foundations for a revolution in the financial field but also in the energy, tourism, medical, industrial and supply chains sectors. Through a systematic literature review, 37 documents were analyzed to describe the sustainable aspects generated using blockchain in supply chains. Therefore, the results achieved provide two levels of analysis. The former highlights the impact of the adoption of blockchain in supply chains based on the three dimensions of sustainability: environmental, economic and social. The latter shows the positive and negative impacts of each form of sustainability. The purpose of the work is to summarize the current state of the art in order to propose a future development agenda based on the need to simulate and define a measurability for each dimension of sustainability. Finally, the study provides a broad overview of practical and managerial implications for entrepreneurs and researchers. On the one hand, the work shows how the use of blockchain improves the profits and reputation of companies. On the other hand, it highlights several research gaps to be investigated and considered by researchers.

Abstract:
This study assessed students’ level of satisfaction with the quality of student support services provided by an open distance e-learning (ODeL) university in Ethiopia. The target population was doctoral students who had been registered at the ODeL university for more than a year. To conduct a quantitative investigation, data were collected by means of a 34-item six-dimensional standardized questionnaire. Data analysis methods included linear as well as stepwise regressions. Using the gaps model as the theoretical framework, findings showed that the doctoral students were dissatisfied with four aspects of the student support services, namely supervision support, infrastructure, administrative support, and academic facilitation. In contrast, students were satisfied with the corporate image (reputation) of the ODeL university. For this ODeL university to play an effective role that coheres with the country’s socio-economic development plan, more attention should be given to the provision of supervision support, as there was strong dissatisfaction with this. The university could also build on or leverage aspects of their corporate image, for which there was strong satisfaction. Doing so will help the university make ongoing contributions and strengthen its commitment to the field of higher education and human capacity development in Ethiopia.

I think that utilitarianism is a good moral theory, and definitely better than its rivals, deontology and teleology. For practical purposes in multicultural contexts, at least, I think that no one should overlook a theory that is able to take into account a variety of ethical views and accommodate the ever-changing facts of the material world. But utilitarianism has a bad reputation in bioethics. It is often seen as the inhumane theory that allows the sacrifice of minorities, the killing of the innocent, and simplistic calculations on the value of life. Hardly anyone cares to remember that most formulations of the theory do not allow these actions. The economic doctrine sometimes labeled as utilitarianism could be guilty as charged, but ethics and economy are not interchangeable words. Also as a theory that can actually propose answers to no-win situations, utilitarianism has been an easy target for criticism.

AbstractThe career of the Danish-born botanist Nathaniel Wallich, superintendent of the Calcutta Botanic Garden from 1815 to 1846, illustrates the complex nature of botanical science under the East India Company and shows how the plant life of South Asia was used as a capital resource both in the service of the Company's economic interests and for Wallich's own professional advancement and international reputation. Rather than seeing him as a pioneer of modern forest conservation or an innovative botanist, Wallich's attachment to the ideology of ‘improvement’ and the Company's material needs better explain his longevity as superintendent of the Calcutta garden. Although aspects of Wallich's career and botanical works show the importance of circulation between Europe and India, more significant was the hierarchy of knowledge in which indigenous plant lore and illustrative skill were subordinated to Western science and in which colonial science frequently lagged behind that of the metropolis.

Abstract:
This research aims to demonstrate the role of internal audits in evaluating sustainable performance and its impact on financial report quality using the balanced scorecard. It also drew the internal auditors' attention in industrial companies to the importance of evaluating sustainable performance and its influence on financial report quality. The researchers used the parallel scorecard to assess the General Company for Automotive and Equipment Manufacturing performance for the years 2017-2020. The General Company for the Production of Automobiles and Equipment and its factories, but not at the required level, and the internal audit of the General Company for the Production of Automobiles and Equipment focuses its work on the economic aspect in a big way and on the traditional financial reports whose data is quantitative and includes cash only. There is also a weakness in the internal audit concerning auditing business and reports prepared by the authorities responsible for the environmental aspect. In light of the conclusions, The researcher made several suggestions, the most important of which are due to the presence of contributions and interests in aspects of sustainable development by the research sample company, so it should prepare sustainable performance reports instead of Traditional financial reports because of the great importance of these reports in reporting all the achievements made by them, whether quantitative or descriptive and thus improving the company's reputation and image in the community.

Abstract:
AbstractDespite the difficulties of the economic environment and the challenges encountered, family businesses in Romania are drivers of economic growth. The tumultuous history and the cultural differences have impacted the way businesses are conducted and how decisions are made, especially in family-run companies, influencing how the family aspect is being portrayed and turned into a competitive advantage. The purpose of this paper is to determine how these contextual factors are influencing the promotion of the family aspect in the family business brand. The methodology of this paper is the exploratory qualitative interview-based study. Empirical data has been collected by way of in-depth semi-structured interviews with eleven Romanian family business owners or managers selected through non-probability purposive sampling, further analysed using content analysis technique. Results suggest that Romania’s cultural background directly affects family businesses and the way they promote their family image, identity and reputation. Although this has a positive effect, few Romanian family businesses are active and promote themselves on the marketplace as a family business. Romanian families have a high degree of autonomy and accountability in relation to local communities which can help or impede the development of a family brand because both families and communities require transparency and there is a high degree of uncertainty which can impact both the business and the family owners. The reference to current literature primarily relates to the position of the family in the business but most notably to branding. The role of family members is drawn to limit actions in certain aspects of promotion and branding, as a direct result of high-conservative views.

Abstract The aim of the paper is to present the phenomenon of the new virtual currency bitcoin, and analyse its economic significance. The paper examines the origin, notion, functions and mechanism of emission of the BTC. The theoretical aspects of creation of the BTC and its advantages and weakness are also explained. The results of the analysis show that bitcoin does not eliminate current problems of traditional currency but also generates new risks for its users. The risks could as well affect the central banks (the legal risk, the risk to payment system stability, and the reputation risk). Three contributions of this paper to the problem of the BTC are worth distinguishing. Firstly, the scientific literature lacks information and data about the BTC - the main source of information is the Internet which reliability cannot be fully guaranteed. Secondly, periodical examination of development of the risk connected with the BTC is necessary. Thirdly, it is a basis to begin discussion on the new virtual currency which bitcoin is.

Abstract:
AbstractThe United Arab Emirates—despite its general reputation for free trade and limited government regulation of business—has had (for over two decades) the most onerous 'dealer protection' law in the Middle East.Very recently, however, pro-competition (or anti-monopoly) sentiment within certain UAE government circles resulted in enactment of a new federal law and two UAE Ministry of Economy resolutions that collectively reflect a weakening of those dealer protections. For example, Minister of Economy Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi observed:The new amendments will certainly boost the competitive economic climate in the UAE…. This law was promulgated out of the desire to enhance and maintain stability in prices and ensure that agencies are not manipulated to increase prices. The following summary highlights some of the more significant aspects of current UAE commercial agency law, including a look at those recent amendments. (I have prepared an English translation of the UAE Commercial Agency Law, including the 2006 amendments, listed as Appendix 1 at the end of this article.)

Abstract:
In today’s business environment, corporate governance and financial transparency have an impact on the performance of firms. These changes are important for understanding the widespread accessibility of relevant and reliable information regarding an entity’s financial and nonfinancial aspects. The purpose of this study was to show how the environmental, social, and governance disclosure performance of companies has gained a reputation of having a fundamental role in financial transparency and how it varies by stakeholder orientation and economic sector. In this regard, we developed a new model based on stakeholders’ perceptions to analyze the impact of environmental, social, and governance disclosure on financial transparency using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method and select the economic sector that ensures transparency in sustainable and financial reporting. This model was applied over the 2008–2018 period to 143 companies from eight countries in the most representative economic sectors: finance, energy, and telecommunication services. Our results portray that environmental, social, and governance reporting are a company’s means of communication with stakeholders, as part of their accountability and stewardship obligations, and at the same time, they are a tool for achieving transparency regarding the financial performance of a firm. Furthermore, our findings also showed whether environmental, social, and governance (ESG) disclosures act as a vector of financial communication for enterprises, and this relationship will also be evident in their role in financial transparency.

Abstract:
Implementation of computer communication technologies in social and economic processes has led to increased cyberattacks aimed to provide third parties with economic benefits or cause enterprises economic damages. The paper substantiates the impact of cyber risks on the economic security of enterprises, including the influence on the cybersecurity of accounting data as its important component. The aim of the article is to assert accounting as an innovative multilevel mechanism of ensuring the interaction of economic and cyber security. Theoretical and methodological aspects of positing accounting as a set of multi-option methods of implementing economic and cyber security interaction were investigated using institutional and innovational methods of scientific research. Economic and mathematical methods of analysis were used to substantiate the interdependence of global indices of state development. It is proven that the extent of digital competitiveness has the greatest influence on the frequency of cyber threats. At the same time, the development of information and communication technologies, innovativeness of the economy, connectivity, and Internet accessibility affect it to a lesser degree. Five levels of information interaction between economic and cyber security of enterprises are identified, viz: the methodological level: determined the impact of cyber threats on the principles and functions of accounting; the quality level: impact on the quality of accounting information; the methodical level: impact on accounting items and accounting types; the communication level: impact on accounting communication with stakeholders; the reputation level: impact on the business image and enterprise goodwill. If cyber threats are realized at these levels, this adds up to increasing economic losses for the enterprise. The paper argues for implementing a feedback mechanism for economic and cyber security conducted using accounting whose task is to credibly identify and evaluate economic losses arising due to cyber risks. It is proven that the methodology of identifying and evaluating economic losses arising in the enterprise due to cyber threats through accounting requires further scientific investigation.

Abstract:
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a form of social responsibility from the business to also care about the conditions of the social environment around it. In this concept, businesses are not only required to realize their economic responsibilities in fulfilling the production of goods and services but are also asked to care about aspects of social and environmental responsibility affected by these production activities. PT. Bukit Asam (Tbk) (PTBA) as one of the companies engaged in coal mining in Muara Enim district, is also inseparable from the responsibilities that have been mandated in the form of related regulations and laws. PTBA as a BUMN is also mandated to implement the Partnership and Community Development Program (PKBL), which is also a form of CSR programs. In its implementation, if it is associated with the mandate of CSR and PKBL regulations, it is appropriate for the CSR-PKBL program not only to measure its business benefits, both in terms of the company's reputation, but also to continue to operate to the marketing aspects. However, CSR and PKBL must be able to provide economic benefits to the recipient community. For this reason, this study presents how the perspective of the community in seeing the CSR-PKBL program that has been conducted by PTBA to the community in Muara Enim Regency. The study was conducted in communities in 17 villages in 3 sub-districts identified as having received the CSR-PKBL program from 2014-2015. This study is useful for companies to provide a direction to the future CSR-PKBL program, and also to local governments to formulate policies related to the implementation of CSR-PKBL as mandated by law.

Abstract:
The purpose of the article is a theoretical substantiation of the process of forming the complex value of an enterprise based on digital marketing in the current conditions of economic management. According to the results of the carried out study, it was found that it is necessary to generalize the approaches to defining the essence of the value category that exist in various international standards, compare them with the interpretation of value in accordance with domestic standards, and on this basis lay the foundations for determining the complex value of the enterprise, which takes into account generally accepted concepts and reflects the domestic features of the formation of enterprise value based on digital marketing under market development conditions. In this article, it is proposed to define the complex value of the enterprise as an estimated value equal to the amount of money formed taking into account marketing factors, the value of the enterprise by tangible assets and the potential of the intellectual marketing capital of the enterprise. The conception of forming the complex value of an enterprise based on digital marketing involves the selection of key value factors. After all, digital marketing is not an alternative to «traditional», but new opportunities that allow to achieve impressive results. And the combination of factors and their gauges, transformed into a marketing function, is called the intellectual marketing capital of the enterprise. It is proposed to include the following ones to the marketing factors for the formation of the complex value of the enterprise: brand and trust in it; reputation as a result of the application of digital marketing; marketing information system that uses the capabilities of Big Data; marketing strategy based on the use of digital marketing tools; customer loyalty based on trusting relationships. Thus, the study considers the conception of forming the complex value of an enterprise based on digital marketing and provides a scheme for its formation, which involves the selection of key value factors.

Abstract:
In this article, the authors investigate the teaching Classical Languages during the first years from the foundation of Principal People’s Schools in the Russian Empire in the reign of Ekaterina II. The activity of Tobolsk Principal People’s School (1789–1810) is taken as an example. The main sources for the article are archival materials and historical investigations not only of modern time but those of XIX century. First, the beginning of the School’s existence enjoyed sincere enthusiasm of officials, teaching staff, and sponsors. Latin and German languages were among obligatory subjects. However, literally a few years later the School encountered serious problems due to economic instability and imperfectness of organization of admission and educational processes that led to a drastic decrease in the number of students registered. Living and teaching conditions of teachers gradually became harder. As a result, the first printed Siberian journal Irtysh transforming into Hippocrene was closed in two years. In addition, authors analyze main Latin coursebook Orbis sensualium pictus by J. Comenius and the Regulations for People’s Schools with special emphasis on practical and methodical recommendations for language teachers. Despite of reputation of coursebook with progressive approach, its usage in Schools was one of the reasons why classical education was introduced with great methodical mistakes. The accent on permanent learning by heart of a huge amount of words, which are mostly irrelevant to students’ life, made lessons boring routine. The authors claim that it was far from the blameless way of the realization of educational reforms in 1780s in Siberia. At the same time, it is noteworthy that those reforms created the necessary basis of the formation of systematic secondary education in Russia and that of transition to the system of Classical gymnasia.

Abstract:
(1) Background: comprehending market concentration and its implications is one of the most crucial aspects of studying and evaluating competition issues, and this is gaining increasing attention in companies’ sustainability research. Sustainability in the manufacturing industry refers to a company’s ability to continue operations over the long term. A manufacturing business must be able to ensure that it will have appropriate resources, labor, and consumers for its products well into the distant future in order to remain economically viable. At this time, market competition concentration influence is significant. The purpose of this article is to assess the viability of measuring the HHI in the implementation of business strategies in order to prevent market distortions in the manufacturing industry. (2) Methods: the distinguishing aspect of this paper is that it describes the capabilities of the fuzzy VIKOR approach for evaluating the HHI in order to avoid market distortion by studying the most important economic characteristics of the manufacturing market. (3) Results: the contribution of this study is the compilation of the HHI evaluation system in the manufacturing sector, with the goal of identifying the market conditions of corporate entities and facilitating the attainment of long-term market competitiveness. (4) Conclusions: a comparison of the multicriteria techniques approach and probability theories reveals that the industrial sector’s HHI-based performance may be measured. It is more adaptable to the organization’s actual decision-making procedure. The operation of manufacturing businesses in the market with the least amount of distortion can be significant for enhancing competitiveness not only at the national level, but also at the global level, particularly by enhancing reputation, reducing costs, responding to market demands, and adapting to market demands. The findings will be relevant for policymakers tasked with controlling market inefficiencies and fostering sustainable economic initiatives.

Abstract:
PurposeThis study aims to empirically examine the most common appeals recommended for use in nation branding campaigns to attract and retain skilled professionals from abroad to enhance a country’s economic competitiveness. To assess this, the authors examine how the image and reputation of a country as a destination and location for talent compare to its actual performance in terms of attracting and retaining skilled professionals. This comparison provides useful insights into the aspects of a country’s reputation that matter most for attracting the talent it needs to enhance its competitiveness.Design/methodology/approachThis study uses a multivariate analysis to examine a sample of 122 countries using secondary data from the World Economic Forum, the World Bank, the UNDP and other non-governmental sources, such as the Martin Prosperity Institute at the University of Toronto. It then tests the results using a sample of 35 OECD countries to assess whether they apply to all types of countries equally.FindingsThe study finds that the two most important factors for ensuring that a country is maximizing its potential to attract skilled professionals are the availability of employment and the degree of ethnic and cultural diversity within the host country. The most important factor for ensuring that a country is maximizing its potential to retain talent, the study finds, is the availability of employment. This does not mean that other factors do not matter, but employment and diversity are crucial for attracting talent from abroad.Research limitations/implicationsThe study also tests the overall results of the study by using a smaller sample of 35 OECD countries. It finds that the availability of employment and high levels of GDP per capita (i.e. wealth) is important for attracting and retaining skilled professionals in more industrially developed countries.Originality/valueThis paper is one of the few empirical studies to examine nation branding to attract and retain talent from abroad to enhance national competitiveness. Its findings suggest that a multifaceted and holistic framework-based approach to nation branding to attract talent, such as that recommended by Silvanto and Ryan (2014), is less likely to work in the short term than an approach which primarily emphasizes employment and diversity.
