Abstract:
During the 1950s, companies aiming for international markets demanded new theories and methods of communication. Ideas regarding cybernetics, systems analysis, new accounting practices, and budgetary principles as well as theories of information, communication, marketing, public relations, and organization were discussed at conferences, seminars, and courses, and in articles and books. At the same time, new technologies changed corporate communication, from a loose-leaf accounting system to mechanical and electronic business machines, from written texts and oral presentations to slide shows, audio tapes, films, television, and flannelgraphs. By looking at a vast array of objects and relations related to uses of media technologies in Swedish industry from the end of World War II to the breakthrough of television, this book shows what happened in the glitches between mass communication and interaction, and how Swedish postwar industry worked to disrupt established understandings of communication.

Abstract:
In the textbook, in section I, the norms and standards of the official business style, genre templates, rules for preparing documents, and the basics of business ethics are set out in a simple, accessible form. It highlights aspects of business communication that, despite their importance, are not reflected in manuals on similar topics. This is information about the problems of adequate understanding of information, working with business terminology, and also gives an assessment of business jargon. Special attention is paid to the forms of information compression in the business text. The theoretical positions are illustrated by relevant examples from various areas of institutional communication. Section II offers a system of exercises for working with the voice as the main tool of business communication. This is the development of good diction and correct reading skills, exercises for mastering the basic rules of Russian orthoepy. Recommendations are given for preparing for a successful oral presentation. The features of phrase construction, the length of the phrase, contact-setting means, the rhetorical potential of the influencing speech, working with special vocabulary and digital information are considered. Meets the requirements of the federal state educational standards of higher education of the latest generation. For undergraduate students studying in management-related specialties.

Abstract:
This monograph is the search for answers to the questions that confront contemporary Russian journalism social and cultural situation of modernity. The authors analyze the correlation of proper and existing in the implementation of the social mission of journalism, the journalism education system, the use of media technologies, the field of journalistic ethics, language and communicative practices of the public sphere, the social effects produced by the media. As the main characteristics of the modern state of Russian journalism finds confrontation and the confrontation of philosophical positions and methodological studies; in the field of journalism education — the confrontation of the instrumental-pragmatic and humanitarian paradigms; in the creation of modern media — focus on creativity or technology; tolerance or ethics in media communication; definition of leadership in the formation of public opinion and the ignition of problem areas. Attempts a comprehensive comprehension of the actual problems of modern Russian media: axiological foundations and the social role of journalism; the criteria of journalistic skills and professional ethics; perspectives of media education, language problems of modern communication and success factors of verbal interaction in the media. Designed for teachers of University departments and faculties of journalism and other Humanities, students in related disciplines and all interested in data range of issues.

Berber, Stevan. Discrete Communication Systems. Oxford University Press, 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/oso/9780198860792.001.0001.

Full text
Abstract:
The book present essential theory and practice of the discrete communication systems design, based on the theory of discrete time stochastic processes, and their relation to the existing theory of digital communication systems. Using the notion of stochastic linear time invariant systems, in addition to the orhogonality principles, a general structure of the discrete communication system is constructed in terms of mathematical operators. Based on this structure, the MPSK, MFSK, QAM, OFDM and CDMA systems, using discrete modulation methods, are deduced as special cases. The signals are processed in the time and frequency domain, which requires precise derivatives of their amplitude spectral density functions, correlation functions and related energy and pover spectral densities. The book is self-sufficient, because it uses the unified notation both in the main ten chapters explaining communications systems theory and nine supplementary chapters dealing with the continuous and discrete time signal processing for both the deterministic and stochastic signals. In this context, the indexing of vital signals and finctions makes obvious distinction beteween them. Having in mind the controversial nature of the continuous time white Gaussian noise process, a separate chapter is dedicated to the noise discretisation by introducing notions of noise entropy and trauncated Gaussian density function to avoid limitations in applying the Nyquist criterion. The text of the book is acompained by the solutions of problems for all chapters and a set of deign projects with the defined projects’ topics and tasks and offered solutions.
