Abstract:
This study is based on the fact that different groups have different historical frames of references, that are based on a group's unique historical cultural structure, within which the individual operates. Research shows, among other things, that people who are perceived to have had a positive significance for their own nation are sometimes highlighted for political reasons. Research also shows that students perceive their textbooks as the only historical truth, which contributes to internalization of a certain history culture. The purpose of the study is to compare different textbooks from Sweden and Norway and in the light of the countries' different experiences compare how the Second World War is presented. The method used is comparison of relative tendency based on two main themes. The theory in the study is based on Jörn Rüsen's description of history culture as divided into three dimensions, which has not been done in a similar way before. History culture has rather been a support concept for, for example, gender. The results show that there are aspects that are portrayed unanimously positive, such as Winston Churchill, while Sweden is described to varying degrees as submissive and weak, which is a contrast to Norway, that is described as fighting and steadfast. Finland is described both positively and negatively in the source material. Furthermore, the results show that analysis of textbooks based on the concept of history culture is feasible even if it has certain problems, and that an approach using history culture can be applied to remedy some problems that previous research has described in relation to history culture in schools.

Abstract:
Introdução. Rupturas agudas do tendão de Aquiles afetam as propriedades mecânicas tendíneas.
Introduction. Acute Achilles tendon rupture affects the mechanical properties of the tendon. Despite the tendinous adaptations generated by decreased use, few studies have used early weight bearing (accelerated treatment) to avoid the large losses in the musculoskeletal tissues. In addition, studies that evaluated the mechanical properties of human Achilles tendon after acute rupture, subjected to early weight bearing were not found. Purpose: to compare the mechanical and morphological properties of the Achilles tendon between patients undergoing conservative and accelerated treatment, after Achilles tendon suture. Materials and Methods: subjects were intentionally allocated into three groups: control (CTR; n=9), conservative treatment (CON; n=9; Postsurgical time: 28.3±3.6 months) and accelerated treatment (ACC; n=9; Postsurgical time: 29.8±4.8 months). An isokinetic dynamometer was used to evaluate the torque production of ankle dorsi- and plantar-flexor muscles. The values of Achilles tendon cross sectional area (CSA) and length were obtained. To evaluate the stress-strain relation, patients were asked to produce two isometric maximal voluntary contractions during a ramp protocol (angle: neutral position; duration: 10 seconds) of the plantar flexor muscles. During the maximal contractions the displacement of the myotendinous junction of the gastrocnemius medialis muscle was evaluated by ultrasound with a linear array probe. Simultaneously, the electromyography (EMG) signal of the tibialis anterior was recorded, and used to correct the Achilles tendon force. The ultrasound images, EMG signals and torque were synchronized. The maximal values of stress, strain, force, displacement, Young’s modulus, tendon length and CSA were compared. Results: there were no significant differences in the morphological and mechanical properties between limbs in the CTR group. Moreover, there were no significant differences in the morphological and mechanical properties between healthy limbs amongst groups. Thus, the healthy limbs of the CON and ACC groups were used as control of the injured limb. In CON and ACC groups the stress, force and Young’s modulus had lower values in the injured limb compared to the contralateral healthy limb, while the strain obtained at 10MPa and the CSA were higher in the injured limb. There were no significant differences in the tendon length between groups and limbs. Moreover, there were no significant differences in the morphological and mechanical properties between injured limbs (CON and ACC). Discussion: The highest tendinous compliance found on the injured tendons, independent of the group might be associated to both the adaptations due to injury that did not return to normal healthy levels and to possible changes in the daily life activities after injury. In addition, the accelerated treatment was unable to reduce the losses due to tendon rupture. These results might be associated to the specificity of the rehabilitation protocol used that was designed for the gain of flexibility and not for strength gains. Conclusion: Twenty-one months post-surgery were unable to recover the deleterious effects of acute Achilles tendon rupture on the structural and mechanical tendon properties. The accelerated rehabilitation protocol was ineffective to reduce these deleterious effects.

Spang, Christoph. "The plantaris tendon in relation to the Achilles tendon in midportion Achilles tendinopathy : studies on morphology, innervation and signalling substances." Doctoral thesis, Umeå universitet, Institutionen för integrativ medicinsk biologi (IMB), 2015. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:umu:diva-103292.

Abstract:
Midportion Achilles tendinopathy (tendinosis) is a troublesome painful condition, often characterised by pain, local swelling, tenderness and functional disability. Despite extensive research, the pathogenesis is poorly understood and treatment remains challenging. Features related to the peritendinous connective tissue can be of importance. Recently it has been suggested that the plantaris tendon might be involved in this condition. Furthermore, it has been hypothesised that tendon pain and the tendinosis-related tissue changes in tendinopathy might be mediated by signalling substances such as glutamate and acetylcholine. A clinical observation, not scientifically evaluated, has been that unilateral treatment for bilateral Achilles tendinosis can lead to an effect on the contralateral side.      The aim of this work was to examine the morphology and innervation patterns in the plantaris tendon and the peritendinous connective tissue in between the Achillles and plantaris tendons in midportion Achilles tendinopathy, and to evaluate if plantaris tendon removal has an effect on Achilles tendon structure. Another aim was to determine if unilateral treatment for Achilles tendinopathy targeting the peritendinous connective tissue can result in bilateral recovery. Furthermore the presence of non-neuronal cholinergic and glutamate systems was examined.      Sections of plantaris tendons with adjacent peritendinous connective tissue from patients with midportion Achilles tendinopathy were stained for morphology (H&E), and innervation patterns were evaluated using antibodies against general nerve marker (PGP9.5), sensory (CGRP) and sympathetic (TH) nerve fibres and Schwann cells (S-100β). Furthermore immunostainings against non-neuronal aceylcholine (ChAT) and glutamate signalling components (glutamate, VGluT2, NMDAR1) were performed. Plantaris tendon cells were cultured and also stained for glutamate signalling components, and were stimulated with glutamate and glutamate receptor agonist NMDA. Furthermore, Ultrasound Tissue Characterisation (UTC) was used to monitor the integrity of the Achilles tendon collagen structure after plantaris tendon removal.      Plantaris tendons exhibited tendinosis-like tissue patterns such as hypercellularity, collagen disorganisation and large numbers of blood vessels. The peritendinous connective tissue between the plantaris and Achilles tendons contained large numbers of fibroblasts and blood vessels and to some extent macrophages and mast cells. A marked innervation was found in the peritendinous connective tissue and there were also nerve fibres in the loose connective tissue spaces within the tendon tissue proper. Most nerve fibres were identified as sensory fibres. Some nerve fascicles in the peritendinous connective tissue showed absence of axons but homogenous reactions for Schwann cell marker. Tenocytes and cells in the peritendinous connective tissue expressed ChAT, glutamate, VGluT2 and NMDAR1. Tendon cells in vitro expressed VGluT2, NMDAR1 and glutamate. UTC showed significant improvement of Achilles tendon integrity 6 months after surgical plantaris tendon removal and scraping procedure. Eleven out of thirteen patients reported of a bilateral recovery after unilateral surgical treatment.      The results of this work show that plantaris tendons exhibit tendinosis-like tissue changes, internal innervation and features that suggest occurrence of glutamate and acetylcholine production and signalling. Plantaris removal improves Achilles tendon structure suggesting possible compressive/shearing interference between the Achilles and plantaris tendons in tendinopathy. The peritendinous connective tissue shows marked innervation, which thus might transmit pain when being compressed. The partial absence of axons indicates a possible nerve degeneration. On the whole, the study gives new evidence favouring that the plantaris tendon and the peritendinous connective tissue might be of importance for pain and the tendinopathy process in midportion Achilles tendinopathy.

Abstract:
This study, try to create a predicative quality, looking for a pattern for the structures that compose the metacarpophalangeal joint, using the method of cutting after freezing and making the measures of the structures in denseness and largeness. Then through the statistics analysis it was possible to create the pattern to the following structures: superficial digital flexor tendon, deep digital flexor tendon, articular capsule, extensor ligaments, intersesamoids ligaments and still make the correlation with the numbers that was found, trying to get the interconnect of the structures in the normal position, to be used in injuries situations. The articular capsule was the structure that shows the highest variation, maybe because there was not a pattern at the moment of collecting (age, function, clinical historical). In the correlation it was not possible to find significant values, once the correlation was low to the majority of structures.

Massey, Garry J. "Muscle-tendon unit morphology, architecture and stiffness in relation to strength and responses to strength training." Thesis, Loughborough University, 2017. https://dspace.lboro.ac.uk/2134/24712.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis examined the change in skeletal muscle architecture with contractile force production, the relationship of architecture with muscle strength parameters and if muscle tendinous tissue stiffness determines in vivo explosive strength (i.e. rate of torque development, RTD). Muscle and tendinous tissue adaptations to contrasting strength training regimes, and the potential capacity of these tissues to adapt following chronic strength training were also explored. Quadriceps femoris fascicle length (FL) decreased, while the pennation angle (PA) increased in a curvi-linearly manner from rest to maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) torque. Consequently, effective physiological cross-sectional area (effPCSA) during MVC was 27% greater than at rest, although effPCSA measured at rest and during MVC had similar correlations to maximal strength. In the earliest phase of contraction, FL, but not PA, was negatively related (R2=0.187) to voluntary RTD. Neither FL nor PA was related to maximal isometric or dynamic strength. Muscle-tendon unit (MTU) and patellar tendon (PT) stiffness were unrelated to voluntary and evoked RTD. Relative PT stiffness was also unrelated to relative RTD, although relative MTU stiffness was related to voluntary RTD (25-55%MVT, R2≤0.188) and evoked RTD (5-50%MVT, R2≤0.194). MTU stiffness increased after sustained-contraction (SCT, +21%), though not explosive-contraction strength training (ECT). PT stiffness increased similarly after ECT (+20%) and SCT (+16%), yet neither induced tendon hypertrophy. SCT produced modest muscle (+8%) and aponeurosis (+7%) hypertrophy. Chronic strength trained (CST: >3 years) males had substantially greater muscle and aponeurosis size, but similar tendon size as untrained controls (UNT) and short-term (12 weeks) strength trained (STT) individuals. Between these groups, at the highest common force, MTU stiffness was indifferent, while PT stiffness was similarly greater in STT and CST than UNT. These results suggest FL and PA have little influence on muscle strength and tendon stiffness has no influence on RTD. Maximum strength negated any qualitative influence of MTU stiffness on in vivo RTD. Component MTU tissues (muscle-aponeurosis vs. external tendon) adapt differentially depending on the strength training regime. Specifically, free tendon appeared to adapt to high magnitude loading, while loading duration is also an important stimulus for the muscle-aponeurosis. However, chronic strength training was not concordant with greater higher force MTU stiffness, and does not further increase higher force PT stiffness beyond the adaptations that occur after 12 weeks of strength training. Finally, no evidence was found for tendon hypertrophy in response to strength training.

Abstract:
Background The shoulder is the third most common site of musculoskeletal symptoms with an estimated 20% of the population reporting symptoms at any given time. Rotator cuff tears are the most common shoulder disorder, and the major debilitation patients seek help for is pain. Full thickness rotator cuff tears have an estimated prevalence of between 7 and 27%, but studies have shown that not all of these are symptomatic. Many case series have been set in shoulder clinics and may have drawn false causality between rotator cuff tears and pain. This study uses a community population-based cohort to determine the epidemiology of rotator cuff tears and test the association between rotator cuff tears, pain, and functional losses. Methods 463 consecutive subjects (926 shoulders) have undergone a multidisciplinary assessment of their shoulders including high-definition ultrasound, the Oxford shoulder score and myometric strength testing. Individuals were part of the Chingford 1000 women cohort, which is a 20-year-old longitudinal population study comprising 1003 women aged between 64 and 87, and is representative of the population of the UK. Results The population prevalence of full-thickness tears was 22.2%, of which 4.6% were bilateral which increased significantly with age. The prevalence was greater in the dominant arm with a 1.64 increase in relative risk. The population prevalence of all tendon abnormalities was 59.3%, of which 30.2% were bilateral, increasing with age. Although 48.4% of full-thickness tears were asymptomatic there was an association between rotator cuff tears and patient reported symptoms. The relative risk of symptoms compared to normal tendons was 1.97 for abnormal tendons, 2.20 for full-thickness tears<2.5cm, and 4.74 for full-thickness tears >2.5cm (p<0.001). Individuals with at least one full-thickness tear had a relative risk of symptoms 1.97 that of those with bilateral normal tendons (p<0.001). Quantitative shoulder strength reduced with age, (10.2-16.2%, p<0.001), the non-dominant arm (4.9%, p<0.001), and the presence of pain (10.8%, p<0.001). Rotator cuff tears had no independent effect, but a significant interaction with age. Strength was preserved in the under 70's irrespective of rotator cuff tear, but in the over 70's there was decrease in strength of between 33% and 39% irrespective of pain (p=0.004). Conclusions This study provides an epidemiological basis to the understanding of rotator cuff tears. The prevalence of full-thickness tears in a female population aged 64-87 was 22.2%. Although only half of all full-thickness tears are symptomatic there is a statistically significant increase in the likelihood of symptoms with increasing tear pathology. There is also an association with loss of strength but only in the over 70's.

Backels, Kelsey Kime. "Developing purpose as a psychosocial task related to college students' perceived tendency to seek help from counseling centers." Virtual Press, 1991. http://liblink.bsu.edu/uhtbin/catkey/776721.

Full text
Abstract:
This study examined the relationship between college students' level of "developing purpose" as a psychosocial task and their tendency to seek help from a professional counselor at a university counseling center for a variety of personal and vocational concerns. Chickering's (1969) theory of college student development provided the theoretical basis for this study. The association between students' sex, educational status and type of problem, and their tendency to seek help was also investigated. Finally, this project explored students' likelihood of seeking help from persons other than professional counselors. Students' level of "developing purpose" was measured by the Student Developmental Task and Lifestyle Inventory (Winston, Miller, & Prince, 1987), while their tendency to seek help was assessed by the Tendency to Seek Help scale (Tinsley, de St. Aubin, & Brown, 1982).Preliminary analyses revealed a connection between previous counseling experience and students' tendency to seek help; therefore, data from 180 respondents reporting no previous counseling experience were used to test the hypotheses. The main analyses involved a 2 x 2 x 2 fully crossed fixed effects MANOVA design where the variables were sex, educational status, and level of "developing purpose." The dependent variables were respondents' rankings for seeking assistance from a professional counselor for personal and career concerns. Each effect was tested having first controlled for all other effects at or below the effect level. Friedman's analysis of variance were also employed to examine respondents' rankings of their perceived tendency to seek help for personal and career problems. Results indicated that there was no significant relationship between students' level of "developing purpose," sex, or educational status and their tendency to seek help. Based on a t-test, however, results suggested that students perceived themselves as more likely to seek help from a professional counselor for personal as compared to vocational concerns.Supplementary analyses revealed that, in general, participants were more likely to seek help from close friends and relatives than any other potential helpers for all personal problems. In contrast, assistance with career problems would most likely be sought from academic advisors, instructors, close friends and relatives. Implications of the findings and suggestions for future research, including a more comprehensive study of Chickering's (1969) theory of student development are offered.

Abstract:
The aim for this study is to identify and analyze general trends, logics, and structures within the Swedish education system, and whether these are consistent with society's growing need for creative individuals. Furthermore, this study aims to identify possible tensions, paradoxes, and challenges regarding the role and function of creativity in relation to education. The aims have been approached by a problem-oriented method, based on a literature review as well as semi-structured interviews with key representatives of the Swedish education system. Overall the study has captured an international and national movement, where creativity in education on the basis of socio-economic, political, institutional, and individual embossed perspectives, has come to be a high priority. This development is based on a critique of today's knowledge-oriented education system, which is no longer considered compatible with today's society. The study has identified multidimensional barriers and opportunities for creativity in late modern education systems, and furthermore recognized creativity in education systems as an important aspect in how to address contemporary and future societal challenges.

Abstract:
This thesis aims to explore the effects of tight budgetary control on employee behavior focusing on employee loyalty, employee satisfaction, job related tension and tendency towards data manipulation in public sectors. The study explores the subject on the population of three countries which includes Sweden, Jordan and Pakistan. In Pakistan and Jordan, no previous study has ever been performed which tried to explore effects of tight budgetary control in employee behavior. Method: Keeping the above fact in view, method derived for this study was the combination of qualitative and quantitative approach. Questionnaires were formulated and sent to employees of the sampled companies receiving 740 responses. For qualitative method, 5 employees were interviewed from entire three countries. Finding: the study revealed that all three countries are experiencing tight budgetary control whereas Jordan and Pakistan are experiencing it on higher level and Sweden is experiencing it in lower level as compared to Pakistan and Jordan. As far employee behavior is concerned, both the method proved that loyalty was negatively related to tight budgetary control for Pakistan and Sweden whereas positively related in case of Jordan. Satisfaction is also negatively related to tight budgetary control for Sweden and Pakistan while positively related for Jordan. Job related tension and tendency towards data manipulation are positively related to tight budgetary control for all three countries. Research type: Master’s thesis.

Abstract:
The research described in this thesis examined age- and strength training-related changes in Achilles tendon stiffness and plantarflexor force production in prepubertal children. The measurement of both Achilles tendon stiffness and muscular force production requires in vivo moment arm lengths to be known. Currently, this is possible only by using expensive and time-consuming medical imaging methodologies. Therefore, the predictability of the Achilles tendon moment arm from surface anthropometric measurements was assessed in the first experimental study (Chapter 3). The results demonstrated that a combination of foot length and the distance between the calcaneal tuberosity and 1st metatarsal head could explain 49% of the variability in Achilles tendon moment arm length in 5 – 12 year-old children. This was considered to be unacceptable for further use, thus an ultrasound-based method was decided upon for obtaining moment arm length in subsequent experimental studies. In the second and third experimental studies (Chapters 4 and 5), age-related changes in tendon mechanical and structural properties were documented and their relationship with changes in force production ability were examined in prepubertal children (5 – 12 years) and adult men and women. In Chapter 4, Achilles tendon stiffness was shown to increase with age through to adulthood, and that changes in tendon stiffness were strongly and independently associated with body mass (R2 = 0.58) and peak force production capacity (R2 = 0.51),which may provide the tendon with an increasing mechanical stimulus for growth and microadaptation. These increases in tendon stiffness were associated with a greater increase in tendon CSA (~105%) than that found for tendon length (~60%), in addition to an increase in Young’s modulus (~139%), suggesting that gross increases in tendon size as well as changes in its microstructure underpinned the increase in stiffness. In Chapter 5, the relationships between Achilles tendon stiffness and both electro-mechanical delay (EMD) and rate of force development (RFD) were determined during maximal isometric plantarflexion contractions. Moderate correlations were found between tendon stiffness and both EMD (r = -0.66) and RFD (r = 0.58). RFD was significantly better predicted when muscle activation (estimated as the rate of EMG rise) was included in a regression model. These data clearly show that increases in tendon stiffness with age through to adulthood are associated with decreases in EMD and increases in RFD, and that the rate of muscle activation has an additional influence on RFD during growth. Given that 1) Achilles tendon stiffness was lower in children than adults, 2) this lower stiffness was associated with a longer EMD and slower RFD, and 3) that strength training in adults had previously been shown to increase tendon stiffness and RFD, the adaptability of the developing Achilles tendon to a resistance training programme, and consequence of the potential changes on force production capacity were examined in the final experimental study (Chapter 6). Significant increases in Achilles tendon stiffness and Young’s modulus were found after 10 weeks of twice-weekly plantarflexor strength training in 8-9 year-old boys and girls, which demonstrates that the larger muscle force production provided a sufficient stimulus for tendon microadaptation. The training also resulted in a decrease in EMD, which was moderately correlated with the change in tendon stiffness (r = 55), but no change in RFD. Thus, the increasing tendon stiffness with training was associated with a decreasing EMD, but had no detectable effect on RFD. This would likely have a significant effect on the performance of tasks requiring rapid muscle force production. Together, the results of the present series of investigations demonstrate that the tendon loading experienced from both normal ageing and overloading (strength training) can increase tendon stiffness in children, and that these changes have a detectable effect on rapid force production.

Abstract:
The purpose of this project was to gain more knowledge about cognitive control mechanisms underlying deteriorations and fluctuation of sustained attention in schizophrenia and healthy participants. To that end, we combined the use of behavioral, electrophysiological (event-related potentials and functional connectivity) and subjective measures. Our results revealed spared sustained attention in schizophrenia and a distinct patterns of sustained attention changes in schizophrenia. Deteriorations are underlined by a decrease of reactive mode of cognitive control in patients and by a decrease of proactive mode in controls. Our results also highlighted slightly distinct patterns of precursors of lapses in sustained attention in schizophrenia according to the attentional state. Sustained attention changes are associated with resource depletion in patients, whereas in healthy participants, according to attentional state, they could also be caused by disengagement of cognitive control

The National Occupational Research Agenda stresses the importance of identifying work-related musculoskeletal disorder (WMSD) risk factors, understanding their exposure dependent nature, and identifying strategies to reduce their incidence and severity. We first examined behavioral changes after exposure to a low repetition low force (LRLF) reaching task for 12 weeks in young rats. We observed increased movement reversals in LRLF - week 8, indicative of a decline in fine motor control, and a small decrease in voluntary task participation in LRLF - week 12, compared to controls. This decline was associated temporally with a low-grade increase of macrophages in peripheral nerve and distal forelimb bones that correlated with nociceptive neurochemical increases in the spinal cord. We next examined motor behavior changes in young rats exposed to either a food retrieval high repetition negligible force (HRNF) task or a lever pulling high repetition low force (HRLF) reaching task. We found that both tasks led to motor declines, with more marked declines in fine motor control in the HRNF group. Thus, repetition, rather than the difference in force magnitude between the 2 tasks, appears to be the key factor in the induction of motor declines associated with repetitive motion injuries (RMIs). Also, these findings indicate that activities involving negligible force do not necessarily pose a lower risk than activities involving low force. Factors such as fine motor coordination requirements may even pose greater risks. Also, compared to the LRLF task, the high repetition tasks resulted in more motor performance declines, thus confirming exposure-dependency in the context of RMI. We also explored the effects of HRNF and HRLF tasks on supraspinatus tendon of young adult rats in 6 and 12 weeks. We found a small but non-significant elevation of ED1+ macrophages in 6 weeks. The supraspinatus tendon does not appear to develop as many pathological changes as forelimb flexor tendons (Barbe, et al., 2003) with task performance. Lastly, we examined the effects of performing HRLF tasks in aged rats. We found that aged rats demonstrate both declines in motor performance and pathological tissue changes over the course of 12 weeks of exposure to the HRLF lever pulling task. The observed declines in grip strength in aged trained control and HRLF rats over time suggest that both age and cumulative exposure to the repetitive task are factors in the development of WMSDs. Our findings suggest that additional study of exposure-dependency and risk factors is warranted. Deeper understanding of the relative contributions of various risk factors can help inform prophylactic programs and/or interventions for individuals who are at risk for, or suffer from, WMSDs.

Abstract:
This thesis project was an experiment in thinking/making. Borrowing from the Renaissance Hermetic Tradition of power magic in the work of Dr. John Dee, it began in contemplative research mode in order to find sources for action. The project had its final goal, a theatrical performance (masque) to be delivered as an act of inter-subjective exchange extending beyond solipsism by means of thinking through actions and things. The interdisciplinary nature of the event spoke of architecture's ability to bring together various modes of abstract expression (literature, theatre, theory, music, etc.) without attempts at explicit meaning but by searching for implicitness in the juxtaposition of messages and mediums. In its historical survey from ancient Greek sacrificial rituals to present butchering practices, the thesis project presents as a crosscurrent a critique of power and its contemporary implications.

Abstract:
Given the economic, environmental, and health issues related to the increasing number of people over 65 years in the coming decades, the identification of the factors associated with the maintenance or the degradation of physical health with advancing age is a major public health concern. Personality, as defined by the Five-Factors Model (FFM, Digman, 1990), is consistently associated with physical health in old age. However, few studies have focused on the underlying mechanisms of this relation. Based upon a five studies research program, the present doctoral dissertation aimed to contribute to current knowledge by identifying a number of factors which may modulate and explain the contribution of personality traits on markers of physical health with advancing age. This research revealed a moderating role of chronological age in the relation between personality, and openness to experiences in particular, and perceived health (study 1), which appeared to be dependent upon disease burden (study 2). Moreover, the contribution of personality on markers of physical health does not seem to be activated by the exposure to age-related stereotype (study 3). Finally, the present doctoral project confirmed the relation between openness to experience and a youthful subjective age, which is a recognized protective factor for physical health in old age, and identified the mediating role of age-group dissociation in this relationship (study 4). The tendencies to dissociate oneself from one's age group and to feel younger among open older people seem to be independent of the context and the environment (study 5). This doctoral dissertation contributes to an in-depth understanding of the mechanisms underlying the contribution of personality traits on physical health with advancing age, and adds to a growing body of research emphasizing the implications of openness to experience for global health and functioning of older people

Imamovic, Arnela. "Cash is [no longer] king: is an e-krona the answer? : - a de lege ferenda investigation of the Swedish Riksbank's issuing mandate and other legal callenges in relation to economic effects on the payment market." Thesis, Linköpings universitet, Filosofiska fakulteten, 2019. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:liu:diva-156410.

Abstract:
For the past decades, the Swedish public’s payment habits have changed, where the majority of the public has abandoned the old way of making payments, using cash, and instead opted for more modern payment solutions, digital money. The difference between cash and digital money is that cash is physical and only issued by the Riksbank, whereas digital money is created by and stored on accounts at commercial banks. The question of what role the state should have on the payment market is an important point of discussion. But it is not categorically a new question; the Swedish government is tackling essentially the same problem today as it has been doing many times before. Today’s problem is to some extent however manifested in a different way. During the 20th century, discussions were held whether or not the Riksbank should have the exclusive right to issue banknotes. It was considered unnecessary, inappropriate and dangerous. The idea that the Riksbank could cover the entire economy’s need for banknotes was, according to the commercial banks, unreasonable. Nonetheless, in 1904 the exclusive right became fait accompli; the government intervened and gave the Riksbank the banknote monopoly. We are now finding ourselves facing a similar situation, where there is a difference of opinion regarding the Riksbank’s role on the payment market. It is therefore nothing new, but rather an expected task for the government, and thus the central bank, to analyze major changes and draw conclusions from them. The problem is essentially about cash being phased out by digital means of payment. In order to therefore solve the problem, the Riksbank has started a project to investigate whether or not the Riksbank should issue digital cash to the Swedish public, what the Riksbank calls an e-krona. To introduce an e-krona would be a major step, but for the public to not have access to a government alternative, seeing as cash usage is declining, is also a major step. No decision has been made yet regarding whether the e-krona will be introduced on the market or not. A decision that however has been made, is that the Riksbank is now working on building an e-krona to develop and assess the technique. Nonetheless, an introduction would undoubtedly have consequences for both the Riksbank and the commercial banks, which ultimately means it would have effects on the economy as a whole. What about regulatory aspects; is the Riksbank even allowed to issue an e-krona under current legislation? The answer is affirmative, to a certain extent. There are furthermore many other uncertainties regarding how an e-krona would affect the economy; the Riksbank does not fully answer many of the system issues in its project reports. The question of whether or not it even is up to the Riksbank to make a decision on the matter of an introduction is also questioned by the author in the thesis.

Abstract:
Basic employment relations and their development tendencies Abstract The dissertation focuses on basic employment relations and tendencies in their development. First, attention is drawn to the conception of labour law and its position within the system of law. Second, basic employment relations are analysed, namely work performed under an employment contract, and work done under agreements other than an employment contract. Only such relations allow for what is called "dependent" work which is (a) subject to superiority of an employer and subordination of the employee, (b) done on behalf of an employer, (c) in compliance with an employer's instructions, and (d) the employee must do the work in person. Dependent work is the subject of individual employment relations. Legal regulation of employment relations is analyzed in the dissertation. A significant change was introduced by the Labour Code 2006. The main principle of the Code is that "everyone may do whatever is not prohibited by the Code, and no one may be forced to do what is not imposed by the Code" (or in other words "what is not prohibited is allowed"). Section 4 of the Labour Code expressly declares the principle of subsidiarity of the Civil Code in relation to the Labour Code, namely that employment relations are governed by the Labour Code;...

There are a group of unique tourists enjoying “backpacking” trip, named as the backpacker currently. The purpose of this study possessed several fold: (a).to investigate the background and self-value of backpackers;(b).to investigate the backpacker’s perception on the travel risks and the related handling;(c).to investigate the backpacker’s tendency to skip the travel risk;(d).to understand the relationship among backpacker’s background, the situation of itinerary organizing and personal tendency. In this study, we carried it out under the mainly qualitative and descriptive research method with in-depth interview approach to explore the risk perception for backpacker and to spare the dangerous situation during the journey. Totally there were eight subjects who agree to take part in this study. The results revealed that there were multi-dimensional for related risk perception, i.e. “self-protection mechanism”, “problem-solving ability”, “other’s influence”, “self-assure”, “experience accumulation”. Under these risk perception, they generated some unique travel considerations and experiences with coping, that could be divided into “well prepared for self ascertaining”, “the statement for easy-going”, “to enjoy surprising”. Finally, travel tendency could generate some special phenomenon, including “freedom”, “to try and adventure directly”, “executive competency” and “self-challenge”. Conclusively, most interviewees had set up a travel risk protection mechanism based on different situations. Through this study, we expect “backpacker” could enjoy their liberal traveling safely and provide more useful & practical information for those who might join the line of the backpackers.

The purpose of this research was two-fold: (1) to examine the relationship among personality, computer games playing places and computer games addiction tendency (CGAT) with Eysenck’s personality model, and (2) to find the risk factors of CGAT and find the best predictors of it with stepwise regression technique. The subjects were 559 students (mean age 20.35) from some classes of the general education courses at the Chung Yuan Christian University. Using Griffiths’ 8-item checklist, each subject was assigned to either the CGAT group or the control group. The other instruments used were the Chinese version of Eysenck Personality Questionnaire and the Computer Games Usage Patterns Questionnaire, which was developed by the researcher. Logistic regression, Chi-square and t test were used to test the hypotheses. The results indicated: (1) Introversion-Extroversion did not predict CGAT. Besides, there was no interaction between Introversion-Extroversion and computer games playing places. But, in the female group, extroverts were apt to have CGAT. (2) Neurotic subjects were apt to have CGAT. (3) Psychoticism predicted CGAT, but it failed to predict this tendency when gender was included in this model. (4) Gender, online game, neuroticism and ‘possessing game machine at home’ were the best four predictors of CGAT. In conclusion, the results of this research suggest that the arousal hypotheses of Eysenck personality model cannot explain the development of CGAT. Neuroticism may be an important personality factor in its development. The implications of these findings and future research directions were discussed.

The World Health Organization lists depression as one of the three major diseases of the 21st century. Therefore, “depression” is regarded as a major challenge to public health throughout the world. The fastest-growing health problem in the workplace is the mental health issues caused by workplace stress. With the formation of an aging society and the change in family structure, the care for the elderly has become another important issue that cannot be ignored. While domestic long-term care workers are mainly carers, excessive workload and poor working environment may affect Taking care of the physical and mental health of the waiters affects the quality of care of the residents. Therefore, taking care of the physical and mental health of the waiters is worthy of our concern. The purpose of this study is to understand the current status of Healthcare Attendants melancholic tendency, work stress and sleep quality, and related factors, and to provide institutional managers with a reference for the results of the study. , Relieve pressure on Healthcare Attendants and protect the health of employees to achieve better care quality for the care recipients. This study was a cross-sectional study, Adoption sampling method. Received a case from the investigator to a nursing home in New Taipei City They used a structured questionnaire as a tool to investigate the propensity for Healthcare Attendants melancholia and related factors. A total of 80 questionnaires were sent out., 80 copies were recovered, 79 questionnaires were valid, and the recovery rate was 100%.The results of the study show that there are significant differences and correlations between gender and age in Healthcare Attendants demographic characteristics, care patterns in work attributes, average number of night shifts, and sleep quality and depression, and Healthcare Attendants education level, marital status, and religion. There was no significant difference and correlation between beliefs and work pressure and depression tendency. Therefore, through this study, it is found that besides the demographic characteristics and the influencing factors of job attributes, sleep quality is an important factor affecting the Healthcare Attendants depression tendency. He may indirectly affect the physical and mental health aspects of Healthcare Attendants. Through the results of this study, it is possible to provide early understanding of the quality of sleep of the attendants and provide institutional managers with more care and attention to the waiter's sleep situation. For colleagues with poor sleep quality, they can find the problems as soon as possible and propose improvement measures to improve the care attendants. Physical and mental health and quality of life.Since this study only used the New Taipei City case of qualified nursing home as the source of the case, the representativeness and inference of the sample were insufficient. It is suggested that the number of cases and samples will be increased in the future, and a more in-depth study will be conducted using the longitudinal study design. To increase the inference of research results and increase the application of clinical practice to enhance the contribution of research results.

The purpose of this study was to understand the current status of sleep quality and depression on the elderly in the community, and to further explore the effects of different background variables including demographic variables, disease history, lifestyle, depression tendency, and sleep quality. The relationship between quality and melancholy tendency and other related factors. This study is a Cross-Sectional Survey Research. The elderly people over the age of 65 who are based on four care bases in the Wufeng District of Taichung City are surveyed. Questionnaires are used to investigate personal data and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Assessment Scale ( PSQI) and the Simple Old Age Depression Scale (SF-GDS). The number of people receiving the case was 65, and the exclusion of the incomplete data was 3, with a total of 62 cases. Personal basic information is self-disguised, including gender, age, disease history, long-term medication, day and night habits, feeling stress, exercise habits, smoking habits, drinking habits, coffee habits, tea habits, etc. Sleep quality and melancholy tendency are disguised. The results of this study showed that the quality of sleep in older women was worse than "the older men". Sleep disturbance at night, daytime dysfunction, feeling stress and smoking habits were significantly associated with depression. The results can provide medical and community care staff as the basis for caring for the elderly, relieve the discomfort of the elderly, reduce depression, ease the quality of sleep, and thus reduce the use of drugs such as sleeping pills, and improve the sleep quality of the elderly correctly and healthily. Research of Relation among Sense of Meaningful Life, Depressive Mood and Suicidal Tendency of Vocational School Students in Kaohsiung Kuei-Hsien Li Abstract The purpose of this research is to get the idea of current situation of vocational high school students in Kaohsiung about their sense of meaningful life, depressive mood and suicidal tendency, to see if there are differences among the vocational high school students from separate backgrounds in Kaohsiung , to probe into the inter-relation among these three variables of various degrees, and to analyze the mutual prediction of student backgrounds, sense of meaningful life, depressive mood, and suicidal tendency. A total of 2,599 subjects, who are the vocational high school students of the 94th academic year in Kaohsiung, are sampled. The returned questionnaires reveal the following results: Ⅰ. The sense of meaningful life—current analysis In public vocational high schools, the first grade girl students in comprehensive senior high schools who major in the specialized courses and receive the democratic way of education, as a whole, possess the better sense of meaningful life. Yet, to the students who do not quite succeed in carrying out life value, the higher life goal they have, the higher sense of meaningful life they own. Ⅱ. The depressive emotion—current analysis In public vocational high schools, the first grade girl students who major in vocational courses often show their feeling of depressive mood. The condition as a whole is steady. But, “the loss of vigor” is the factor which causes high-intermediate level of depression tendency. Ⅲ. The suicidal tendency—current analysis In public vocational high schools, regarding the suicidal tendency of the students taking specialized courses in comprehensive senior high schools, the third grade girl students and those who are mainly influenced by their parents have high-intermediate level of suicidal tendency on the whole. Ⅳ. To the vocational high school students, their sense of meaningful life, depressive emotion and suicidal tendency are highly and positively co-related. Ⅴ. Vocational high school students vary in their sense of meaningful life because of the interactive function. That is, the lower depressive emotion they have, the higher sense of meaningful life they own. However, vocational high school students with different senses of meaningful life possess different depressive emotions. In other words, the lower the sense of meaningful life is, the higher the depressive emotion will be. Ⅵ. Vocational high school students’ background variables, sense of meaningful life, depressive emotion, and suicidal tendency can predict one another. Ultimately, the findings and conclusion of this research will offer several suggestions for reference to Kaohsiung vocational school students, parents, future study as well as practical works. key words: vocational high school students sense of meaningful life depressive mood suicidal tendency

This study tested the secondary mathematical teachers’ Mathematical Pedagogical Content Relative Knowledge(MPCRK). The first step in this study was investigating and comparing many literatures, and inducting the content of MPCRK. The second step were deeping interview of 10 senior secondary mathematics teachers and questionnaire investigation of 236 secondary mathematics teachers. The third step were using the analysis of variance (ANOVA) to investigate the factors which related with the secondary mathematical teachers’ MPCRK, and the analysis of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to construct the model of MPCRK. The purpose of this study was to know the knowledge and model of the secondary mathematical teachers that they have to be provided with “measure of central tendency and of variability”. The findings of this study were listed below: 1. The secondary mathematical teachers have to be provided with at least three kinds of knowledge about “measure of central tendency and of variability” of mathematical pedagogy : content knowledge(CK), pedagogical knowledge(PK), knowledge of learners and their characteristics(LK). It is important to MPCRK. 2. The factors which related with the secondary mathematical teachers’ MPCRK. (1) The secondary mathematical teachers’ pedagogical knowledge has differences because of the genders. (2) The secondary mathematical teachers’ knowledge of learners and their characteristics has differences because of the in-service training hours. (3) The secondary mathematical teachers’ content knowledge has differences because of the experience and region. (4) The secondary mathematical teachers’ MPCRK didn’t has differences because of the age, education, seniority and magnitude of school. 3. About the model of MPCRK : The three kinds of knowledge(CK,PK,LK) can predict the secondary mathematical teachers’ MPCRK, but the MPCRK would be moderated by teaching experience and in-service training hours.

Depression has been considered one of the top three health issues for the 21st century by the World Health Organization (WHO). Not only would depression afflict the suffering person’s health, it could also have negative influences on the well-being of the person’s families and the society. The average age suffering from depression is decreasing these years because of the changes of social structure, economic decline, and family structure. However, children can’t express their emotions so well and the symptom is less obvious, depression among children is often ignored. More important, childhood depression might last into adolescence and adulthood. More efforts should be directed to investigate the etiology and factors associated with depression among children. Using a cross-sectional design, we investigated a group of elementary- school children attending on-campus after-school programs in Miaoli County. There were 2109 children (in their third to sixth grades) participated in the after-school classes managed by the Love of Life cultural educational foundation. After seeking consents from their parents, 634 of them were administered to a structural questionnaire with a child depression scale. Depression status and its associated factors were analyzed and our main findings include: 1.In this sample, 15.9% elementary children has tendency of depression. 2.Children with shorter length of sleep, an authoritarian paternal style, whowere the only child, a detached sibling relationship, normal classmate relationship, and a mediocre school performance have scored higher in the depression scale. 3.Children with length of sleeping less than 8 hours, an authoritarian paternal style, a detached maternal relationship and sibling relationship, a normal classmate relationship, and a mediocre school performance have higher risk of depression tendency. According to our findings, it seems that child depression is associated with the length of sleep, relationships with family, parenting styles, and lowering the expectation and demanding from school performance. Child depression intervention programs should pay more attention to these factors.

The purpose of this survey research was, first, to investigate the present situation of depression tendency, social support, and perfectionism trait of the gifted and talented students in senior high school. Second, to investigate the differences and predictions of depression tendency in background variables (gender, grade, G/T category, place of residence, marriage of parents, father teaching attitude, mother teaching attitude, and family socio-economic status ), social support, and perfectionism trait. Amount to 501 G/T students were involved in the survey research. A self-administered survey instrument was used to collect date, named "The Life Sensation of Senior High School Students Scales". All of collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistic, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson’s Product-Moment Correlation, and stepwise regression analysis. The main findings were summarized as bellow: 1. The major social supports of G/T students were " informational support " from their family members, and next were "support of being respected" by their family members. 2. Among the four dimensions of perfectionism trait, the G/T students had highest score in the "organizational dimension", and next in the "personal standard dimension". 3. 20% of the tested G/T students (around 104 persons) had over 19 points in the scale of depression tendency; 49% of the tested G/T students (around 245 persons) had scores scattered from 8 to 18. 4. There were significant differences in depression tendency between grade, father teaching attitude, and mother teaching attitude. There were no significant differences in depression tendency between gender, G/T category, place of residence, marriage of parents, and family socio-economic status. 5. Among G/T students in senior/vocational high school, social support and depression tendency had significant negative correlations. Depression tendency had no correlation with the organizational dimension of perfectionism trait, but was significantly correlated to the last three dimensions of perfectionism trait. 6. Grade, mother teaching attitude, social support and perfectionism trait had prediction for depression tendency of G/T students. Gender, G/T category, place of residence, marriage of parents, father teaching attitude, and family socio-economic status didn’t have prediction for depression tendency of G/T students. Based on the findings, the investigator proposed several suggestions for educational practice and for further research.

This thesis aims to explore the relationships among demographic variables, including gender, age, education background of parents, length and experience of music learning, creative tendency, and music preference. With a sample of 494 Taipei junior high school studentsand a scale of creative tendency and music preference, and through ANOVA, multiple, stepwise, and typical regression analysis, it is concluded that (1) gender, age, education background of parents, period and experience of learning music have a significant influence on creative tendency of students. Paternal education background has an effect on students’ performance of challenge, curiosity, courage, and confidence, while maternal education background on students’ performance of curiosity and courage. The difference of length of music learning reflects on students’ performance of challenge, curiosity, courage, confidence, and passion, while the difference of experience of music learning on students’ performance of curiosity, courage, and confidence. (2) Thedifference of gender, education background of parents, length and experience of music learning shows significant influence on music preference, but age does not show the significant difference. Parents’ education background signifies students’ preference of rock music, and the length and experience of learning music on classical and jazz music. (3) The creative tendency manages to predict the music preference, and the predictability is 15.2%. (4) The creative tendency explains the music preference. Those who are confident, passionate and curious prefer classical music, and those who are challenging, humorous, confident, and passionate prefer rock music.

Abstract Objectives More than 7,000 people were found to be exposed to low-dose-rate gamma radiation contaminated building in Taiwan in 1992. The objective of this study was to assess possible emotional change and/or depression outcome secondary to long-term stress that was originated from the fear of radiation exposure among the above-mentioned exposed subjects. We used a self-administered questionnaire to understand the distribution of depression tendency and related risk factors in this “Radiation Contaminated Building (RCB)” cohort, and to analyze whether there was any relation between radiation exposure history and depression tendency. Materials and Methods Subjects included in the RCB cohort receive annual physical checkup at pre-specified hospitals. We conducted an interviewer-assisted questionnaire survey among 2,143 subjects who received physical checkup between March and December 2009. A total of 1,707 subjects who fulfilled the inclusion criteria agreed to participate in the study and filled out a questionnaire that included personal information, Beck Depression Inventory (BDI)-II Scale and Depression and Somatic Symptoms Scale (DSSS). All data were then analyzed by employing multivariate logistic regression and linear regression analyses to identify potential predictors of depression tendency. Results This study found that the prevalence of depression tendency was 14.47% among all study subjects (17.62% among subjects with relatively high dose exposure (excess dose >5mSV); and 13/48% among subjects with relatively low dose exposure group (excess dose= 1-5mSv). Moreover, education level was inversely associated with depression tendency (OR 0.63,95% CI 0.49-0.80). Individuals who worried more about the potential adverse health effects of radiation exposure were more likely to have depression tendency (OR 1.65,95% CI 1.41-1.94). Conclusions The prevalence of depression tendency in the RCB cohort was 14.47%. Less educated people and those who worried more about the potential adverse health effects of radiation exposure were more likely to have depression tendency. Although there was no evidence to show that prior experience of radiation exposure might directly affect the mental health of radiation exposed subjects, the findings of this study suggested that past radiation exposure experience might lead to long-term psychological stress, which could then result in depression tendency and other psychosomatic symptoms. Key words:Depression tendency, radiation contaminated building, mental health, Beck Depression Inventory

Research background & aim: Considering that researches about types of internet addiction very limited in college students which either hasn’t studied in which resources the internet addicted subjects could obtain from the internet. In order to explore clearly about the mediated factors as cognitions and resources what people on-line addict to would have the influences to the adaptation when they are under high stress, two main purposes in our study: First, through cognitive-behavior and resources-oriented approaches as the hypothetical model of our study we discuss how perceived stress moderate the tendency of internet addiction under maladaptive cognition; and we also discuss under internet addition whether the perceived resources from the internet would moderate internet addicted subjects’ positive and negative affection when they are online. According to those above, we would test whether or not our proposed hypothetical model fit our observed data. Second, we discuss the differences among various types of internet addiction in their resources in the real life and the internet world, the maladaptive cognitions, the perceived stress, the affection and the adaptation. Method:College students would be scheduled in our study. All participants would be asked to complete the questionnaires, including the demographic data, Resources Inventory (life version and web version), Internet Addiction Scale, Life Stress Scale, Positive and Negative Affect Schedule and Chinese Health Questionnaires (CHQ) etc. There are 553 students participated in our study, including 195 male students and 358 female students. And in order to compare their differences, used internet addiction scale, all participants would be separated into eight kind of subgroup of internet addiction which in accordance with the criterion score of subgroups. For testing other hypotheses of this study, MANOVA, Pearson correlation, multiple regression, and SEM would be conducted for the statistic analysis. Result:Although our study didn’t find the moderate effect by the perceived stress and the resources, but both above-mentioned variables have direct effect to predict criterion variables. Besides, we also would confirm and modify our proposed hypothetical model, and we discovered that college students who have lower resources in real life and higher perceived stress would have more maladaptive cognitions toward internet addiction, and then those would be more tendency to addict to internet. Following on above-mentioned results, they would obtain more resources from internet and more positive affections online, but the mental health would worsen if negative affection is still high. Besides, we found: (1) compared to control group, the internet addicted subject-specific type, the whole type and hybrid type of internet addiction would have higher resources loss, more severe maladaptive cognitions, lower resources obtained online, and more severe influence in the negative affections in reality and the tendency of mental pathology, (2) especially under the analysis of specific type of internet addiction, the web information addicted group may reveal more used web information to avoid total stress , family or academic stress, and this group intent to higher tendency of mental pathology. (3) And under the analysis of hybrid type of internet addiction, their have more positive illusion from maladaptive cognitions so obtained more economical and supportive resources from internet revealed low mental process. It maybe results from more adequacies of the whole resources in real life. Otherwise, in the online game addiction and interpersonal addiction group of hybrid type, we revealed that they are poorer in the personal character/ability and less social support in real life, and higher stress of interpersonal relationships, so they have higher negative affections in the real life even online. Conclusion:Our study offers an adapted model to understand the relevance between many sufficiency factors of internet addiction, especially about the multiple resources and maladaptive cognitions. We hope that through this cognitive-behavioral approach to conceptualize the process of various types of internet addiction, and then offer a direction for practitioners about intervention to alleviate or prevent the occurrence of internet addiction. Our study also verifies that there are specificities between various types of internet addiction, and the more combined types, the poorer adaptation in the hypothetical model. Therefore, we can assess the original personal resources, life stress, and maladaptive cognitions to specify the different types, or hybrid types for their appropriate treatments.

Harrington, Jennifer L. "The Development and Validation of a Measure of a “Tender Conscience” and Its Relation to Obsessive-Compulsive Symptoms." Thesis, 2007. http://hdl.handle.net/10012/3121.

Full text
Abstract:
Cognitive behavioural models of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) suggest that catastrophic misinterpretations of intrusive thoughts are at the heart of this disorder’s onset and maintenance (Salkovskis, 1985; Rachman, 1997, 1998). Indeed, empirical work has demonstrated that individuals with OCD are prone to a variety of cognitive biases (e.g., selective attention, thought-action fusion, and an inflated sense of responsibility). Although research has established the existence of cognitive biases, it is not yet known why individuals develop these maladaptive thinking patterns. Nonetheless a number of theorists have suggested that an underlying personality style, namely a “tender conscience,” might serve as vulnerability factor to OCD (Rachman & Hodgson, 1980; Rachman, 1998). Relatively little work has addressed the relationship between personality and OC symptoms; consequently, two studies were designed to further elucidate the nature of this relationship. In the first study, the construct of a “tender conscience” was operationalized and a self-report questionnaire was developed. The questionnaire was then administered to a group of undergraduate students (N = 407). Data analyses indicated that the psychometric properties of the scale were satisfactory, with an internal consistency estimate of .86 and test-retest reliability of .77. Additionally, an exploratory factor analysis was conducted, and a four-factor solution was retained that explained 33.6% of the variance. The second study sought to determine the construct validity of the newly developed measure and its relationship to obsessive-compulsive symptoms in an undergraduate sample (N = 155). As expected, a “tender conscience” was negatively correlated with the Self-Report Psychopathy Scale-III (Williams, Nathanson & Paulhus, 2003). Furthermore, a “tender conscience” was positively correlated with the traits of Agreeableness and Conscientiousness, and negatively correlated with Emotional Stability - as assessed with the International Personality Item Pool (Goldberg, 1999). However, the relationship between a “tender conscience” and OC symptoms was less clear. Nonetheless, the data provide some preliminary evidence to suggest that a “tender conscience” may serve as a vulnerability factor to obsessional problems.

The locomotion abilities of animals are usually affected by environmental factor and the morphologies of its self, and the structure that adaptive to one kind of environment may affect the locomotion expression in other kind of environment. The life history of Laticaudinae maintains a certain level of relationship with the land, and carry different levels of morphological and physical specialization caused by different aquatic levels between species. The study predict that: Laticauda semifasciata, the most aquatic species, will prefer the aquatic environment, and have the weakest locomotor abilities on land, reflect in moving performance, climbing ability, raising from water, and muscle strength; And the most terrestrial species, L. colubrine, prefer the terrestrial environment, and have the strongest terrestrial locomotor abilities. And the locomotor abilities of L. laticaudata are between the L. semifasciata and L. colubrine. The result show that the L. colubrine stay the longest time period on land. The three kinds of laticauda sea snakes show the same moving performance without using the pivot points, and totally different with the terrestrial species Bungarus multicinctus multicinctus. Its may because of that Laticaudinaes are much closer with the true sea snakes. In the aspect of terrestrial locomotor abilities, L. semifasciata and L. colubrina usually have the same represent, and also usually better than L. laticaudata. The reason of results unmatching the predictions might be caused by the differences of the morphology and muscle contains between these three species.

A Team consists of individuals working together, each playing their own part. The characteristic of each individual may affect the team performance. Often the player with the dominant personality plays the most important role in the team. Our study intends to investigate the role of those with a dominant personality in the team cooperation tendency of a high school volleyball team. Method:We questioned 288 members of the 2014 high school volley ball semi-final competition participants. We translated the Costa & McCrae NEO-FFI (NEO-Five Factor Inventory) questionnaire to Chinese for analyzing the personality traits of the 288 participants. We also refer to the team cooperation measurement form developed by Mr Zhang.
