Abstract:

À deux endroits de ses oeuvres en vers (De memorabilibus VII, 3, 94 e epist. V, 73), Raoul Tortaire emploie le mot vafria, qui n’est attesté dans aucune autre oeuvre latine. Ce n’est cependant pas un néologisme créé par le poète, mais un mot corrompu présent dans la tradition manuscrite des Facta et dicta memorabilia de Valère Maxime (VII, 3, ext. 2) au lieu du mot correct vafritia et considéré par Raoul comme un mot latin authentique. L’article a aussi pour objet de traiter des relations intertextuelles qui émergent de l’analyse des textes examinés.

Résumé Le mot « relations » se réfère à de nombreux concepts qui sont parfois peu compatibles entre eux en sociologie contemporaine. Compte tenu de la brièveté de la contribution que nous offrons ici, aucun effort ne sera fait pour modifier cette situation. Je présenterai plutôt une interprétation générale, une sorte de dénominateur commun, puis j’illustrerai la manière dont j’ai cherché à utiliser ces termes dans mes propres travaux sur les stigmates et sur les inégalités en matière de santé au Royaume-Uni - dans mes écrits, les termes relations et structures sont plus ou moins traités en tant que synonymes. Je terminerai avec une réflexion sur ce que j’appelle le modèle jigsaw, un outil heuristique susceptible de faciliter l’étude sociologique des relations qui se manifestent dans le monde social que nous habitons.

ABSTRACTLa signification lexicale est souvent conçue, au moins partiellement, en termes de description ou, dans notre terminologie, de propriétés intrinsèques (PI). Nous explorons ici l'hypothèse inverse que le mot (notamment le nom) renvoie directement aux types de relations, 1° que le locuteur entretient avec les référents variés que tel mot lui permet de construire, 2° que ces référents entretiennent avec leur environnement. C'est sans doute le sens même des noms qui doit être identifié avec ces rapports ou propriétés extrinsèques (PE). Du coup, les emplois polysémiques, métonymiques ou métaphoriques sortent complètement de leur marginalité pour tendre à se confondre avec la signification lexicale elle-même, les usages dénominatifs masquant plutôt cette signification.

Elle s’est installée dans les relations humaines en conquérant les secteurs d’activité les plus divers. L’acte notarié, traditionnellement fondé sur le rapport présentiel entre les parties et le notaire, qui permet à ce dernier l’accomplissement de son devoir d’authentification personnelle, n’a pas échappé à un tel bouleversement. L’admission de la comparution des parties devant le notaire par visioconférence met à l’épreuve la notion d’authenticité jusque-là uniforme au sein du notariat latin. Le présent texte propose une réflexion sur les principaux enjeux de l’authenticité dématérialisée du point de vue de ses fondements et de la reconnaissance internationale de ses effets juridiques.

L’objectif de cet article est de décrire les relations sémantiques hiérarchiques entre les mots construits avec pain, appartenant au champ lexico-conceptuel des produits de boulangerie-pâtisserie et entre leurs équivalents polonais. Les relations d’hyponymie/ hyperonymie existant à l’intérieur du champ analysé en français et de son correspondant polonais wypieki ne sont pas identiques. Ces différences ont un impact sur le choix des équivalents de certains termes dans la traduction. L’équivalent de base du mot pain est chleb, mais son hyperonyme pieczywo (niveau supérieur) est également utilisé, ainsi que bułka (co-hyponyme de chleb) et bagietka (hyponyme de bułka, niveau subordonné).

Abstract:

For over sixty years (from 1910 to 1973), Martin Heidegger carried out a work of thought which led him to create a large quantity of neologisms. It also led him to create a new use of idioms in the German language. This was regarded as a renewed vocabulary. His study bears new meanings and expresses the philosopher's work of thought and the new concepts he proposes. Among them is the Ereignis that this text proposes to question the content. The Ereignis is what makes time and being belongs to each other. It is the relationship of all the relations engendered by this co-membership. This is made possible by the difference installed at the heart of the same. Heidegger himself admitted that the Ereignis was the keyword of his whole thought since the early 1930s. It is the word-director of his thought.

Abstract:

Human observers are able to keep track of several independently moving objects among other objects. Within theories of multiple object tracking (MOT), distractors are assumed to influence tracking performance only by their distance toward the next target. In order to test this assumption, we designed a variant of the MOT paradigm that involved spatially arranged target-distractor pairs and sudden displacements of distractors during a brief flash. Critically, these displacements maintained target-distractor spacing. Our results show that displacing distractors hurts tracking performance (Experiment 1). Importantly, target-distractor confusions occur within target-distractor pairs with displaced distractors (Experiment 2). This displacement effect increases with an increasing displacement angle (Experiment 3) but is equal at different distances between target and distractor (Experiment 4). This finding illustrates that distractors influence tracking performance beyond pure interobject spacing. We discuss how inhibitory processes as well as relations between targets and distractors might interfere with target tracking.

Le langage de la politique, porteur d’une représentation idéologique des relations au sein d’une communauté donnée, est par définition un domaine de la lutte discursive. Cela implique qu’en dehors des significations proposées, il comporte aussi des tentatives de couvrir le message concurrentiel ou discordant. Différentes formes du tabou constituent par conséquent son élément inséparable. Or, le discours public d’aujourd’hui (avec son côté néo-populiste) est parsemé de remarques métalinguistiques dans lesquelles le mot tabou apparaît explicitement ou est sémantiquement présent sous forme d’allusions à toutes sortes de thèmes interdits. À travers une analyse des contextes dans lesquels ce mot ou cette valeur sémantique apparaissent dans un corpus d’allocutions d’hommes politiques français couvrant la période 2008-2015, cet article – inspiré en partie des travaux du groupe de recherche DiSEM – tente de montrer que, tout comme la critique du politiquement correct et de ce qu’on appelle communément « la langue de bois », le rejet du tabou chez soi et sa dénonciation chez l’adversaire politique s’apparentent, ces dernières années, à une sorte d’artifice rhétorique obligé.

Abstract:

Multi-object tracking (MOT), especially by using a moving monocular camera, is a very challenging task in the field of visual object tracking. To tackle this problem, the traditional tracking-by-detection-based method is heavily dependent on detection results. Occlusion and mis-detections will often lead to tracklets or drifting. In this paper, the tasks of MOT and camera motion estimation are formulated as finding a maximum a posteriori (MAP) solution of joint probability and synchronously solved in a unified framework. To improve performance, we incorporate the three-dimensional (3D) relative-motion model into a sequential Bayesian framework to track multiple objects and the camera’s ego-motion estimation. A 3D relative-motion model that describes spatial relations among objects is exploited for predicting object states robustly and recovering objects when occlusion and mis-detections occur. Reversible jump Markov chain Monte Carlo (RJMCMC) particle filtering is applied to solve the posteriori estimation problem. Both quantitative and qualitative experiments with benchmark datasets and video collected on campus were conducted, which confirms that the proposed method is outperformed in many evaluation metrics.

Artikkelen tar utgangspunkt i Johan Jørgen Holsts og Rolf Tamnes’ klassiske kategoriseringer og gir et perspektiv på norsk sikkerhetspolitikk som et forsøk på å finne en balanse mellom ulike behov: støtte fra vest, lavspenning med øst og innenrikspolitisk oppslutning. Artikkelen retter oppmerksomheten mot to områder av det militære samarbeidet i NATO som har vært sentrale for Norge gjennom 70 års medlemskap: NATOs kommandostruktur og alliert tilstedeværelse i og planer for forsterkning av landet. Områdene har gitt tydelige utrykk til den norske balansegangen og vært viktige for utviklingen av denne. Overordnet har norsk sikkerhetspolitikk gjennom en skiftende internasjonal kontekst siden 1949 beveget seg mot mer integrasjon og avskrekking og mindre beroligelse og avskjerming. Et større steg i denne retning kom i 1995, mindre i 1951, 1977 og 2016. Selv om balansepunktet har blitt forskjøvet, er imidlertid norske myndigheters vektlegging av å finne en balanse fortsatt relevant og levende.

Abstract:

The paper summarizes the mechanisms used in the Ulch language to denote comparison as a broad cognitive category. Referring to numerous studies of various languages, the author examines a variety of possible comparative relations between objects and events and divides them into four types: comparative and superlative (inequality group), equative and simulative (equality group). Each type features a set of linguistic means used to verbalize a specific degree of similarity or superiority, including syntactic constructions, grammatical markers, and lexical units. The analysis has revealed that all four types can be found in the Ulch folklore texts. A conclusion is drawn that the Ulch language lacks a holistic grammatical category of comparison of adjectives or adverbs, resulting in a diverse but economic set of means of expressing comparison. Overall, the comparative mechanisms in Ulch cover the syntactic (two-noun constructions in nominative and instrumental cases in comparative structures or the conjunction umutu/omoto in simulative ones), grammatical (suffixes -achi/machi and mat/mot/meti), and lexical (adverbs of degree: chӯ, tes, badi, ӡin-ӡin, and others) levels. Considerable overlap between equative and similative subtypes has been identified. In addition, the adverbs of degree typically describing superlative relations can also be used in comparative constructions and, in some cases, in constructions describing equality relations. Consideration is also given to the basic components of various comparative structures (objects of comparison, standards, parameters, etc.) for each subtype, highlighting the elements essential for modeling a comparative situation and those that may be included or omitted depending on the context.

Abstract:

This study examined the experience of Kazakhstan, which created its own system of laws and regulations in the field of labor dispute problems, designed to protect the interests of workers and help ensure a minimum level for residents. The article identifies problems requiring study of issues on the application of labor legislation, development of recommendations for improving and taking measures to inform judicial practice in this category of cases. We have studied the activities of the International Labor Organization (hereinafter referred to as the MOT), which is the world agency of the United Labor Organization. Kazakhstan reports on labor issues, labor disputes, trade unions of workers, workers and others. Case studies show labor disputes, strikes by workers in the regions of Kazakhstan, as well as their solutions. The study makes recommendations of the following nature, when considering disputes regarding the recognition of legal relations as labor, courts should distinguish between civil law relations and labor relations. The relevance of the research topic due to the need to develop and introduce new modern mechanism for resolving individual labor disputes, including pre-trial and non-judicial methods of conflict resolutions.

Par la Loi sur les Indiens, les sociétés amérindiennes se sont fait imposer un nouvel univers politique par les autorités canadiennes. Elles ont donc dû composer avec le système des conseils de bande en s'adaptant et en réaménageant leurs façons de faire politiques. La tradition diplomatique algonquienne, bien active au XVIIe siècle et encore durant une partie du XVIIIe, s'est-elle aussi transformée? Depuis la vague de mouvement d'affirmation autochtone des années 1970, les relations des conseils de bande ne se limitent plus au gouvernement canadien, aux autres nations autochtones ou aux relations avec des instances non autochtones locales, régionales, provinciales ou pan canadiennes: elles s'étendent désor mais aussi au niveau international. Peut-on maintenant utiliser le mot « diplomatie » dans le contexte des conseils de bande? À l'aide de l'exemple de la communauté algonquine de Kitigan Zibi, l'auteure explore la participation active de cette bande à des rencontres avec les ambassadeurs de divers pays représentés à Ottawa. L'affirmation d'une identité nationale et la reconnaissance politique de la bande sont au coeur de cette démarche entreprise par les Anishnabeg.

Ehren : beschweren. Cette équation proverbiale pose, en allemand, les termes du problème : l’honneur est un poids, rendre hommage également. Comment donc s’en acquitter ? A travers la paronomase et l’association des idées ce Sprichwort fait écho à une association similaire, en latin, entre les verbes honorare et onerare. Pour cette raison, je traite ici non pas d’un mot unique, mais de deux termes aux relations complexes sur tous les plans graphique, phonétique et sémantique, qui participent de leur confusion. En touchant à la fois à la littérature classique et à l’épigraphie, notamment versifiée, cette note sur deux Wörter au coeur de la notion de commémoration, reflète les intérêts multiples de notre collègue. Et selon la formule consacrée, son imposant cursus honorum universitaire rend cet hommage d’autant plus difficile.

Abstract:

La tradition orale africaine présente un ensemble de valeurs qui concourent à sa primauté dans les relations sociales. Les rites mortuaires, tout en témoignant des us et coutumes dus au mort, sont une expression non-verbale que compulsent les chansons de deuil. En quoi les rites funéraires s’offrent-ils comme une communication au-delà du mot dans les chansons traditionnelles funèbres ? Il s’agit de déterminer les fondements ancestraux du rituel consacré au défunt, d’analyser ces usages avant d’interpréter la signification que couve la communication non-verbale que restitue cette occurrence culturelle. Au profit de la sociocritique, la psychocritique et la fonction initiatique, il ressort que ces pratiques anciennes montrent un message à la fois social et spirituel visité par l’art oratoire.

Entendue de la sorte, l’interprétation procède de la même manière à l’égard de la constitution ou de tout autre texte. S’il existe une spécificité de l’interprétation constitutionnelle, elle n’apparaît que dans le cadre d’une notion beaucoup plus confuse, où l’« interprétation » désigne n’importe quelle argumentation qui invoque la constitution.

Abstract:

Translation is a subject that can never be spoken of sufficiently, especially at a time when exchanges and conflicts between cultures are intensifying with globalization. Starting from the possibility (or the impossibility) of translation, this article does not reflect upon the old question of the opposition between the fidelity and freedom of the translator, or the theories of foreignization and domestication, but rather focuses on the role of the translator in the relations of otherness. In the face of indetermination, we seek, through the example of the translation of a word ‘honor’, full of historical and cultural connotations in the French language, to prove that grasping meaning is fundamental in order to produce a good translation. In order for that, the translator should be a linguist to grasp meaning and significance in the vast semantic fields, then be a scientist who knows how to reappropriate the conceptual tools proposed by other social sciences. These two roles guarantee the understanding and the demonstration of the otherness, which can only come from a systematic structuring of the culture of departure.

RésuméCet article propose une exploration des diverses significations prises par les figures du zombie dans différents contextes socioculturels. Nous cherchons à approfondir tout particulièrement celle qu’il incarne dans le contexte brésilien où le mot Zumbi est associé au leader noir du célèbre village marron, le quilombo de Palmares. Objet d’un mythe et investi des signes de la résistance noire, le Zumbi brésilien semble réunir plusieurs figures : la mémoire de la mort, le revenant, la résistance et la lutte politique. En examinant l’histoire de Zumbi au Brésil ainsi que la place particulière qu’il occupe au sein du mouvement noir contemporain, nous cherchons à comprendre ses différentes significations et les relations qu’il est possible d’établir entre sa figure et celle qu’elle a empruntée dans diverses sociétés marquées par la mémoire de l’esclavage.

Au regard de l’histoire longue d’un milieu de marais, l’article propose de suivre les évolutions récentes, de 1960 à nos jours, des usages de l’eau lors du glissement d’un village agricole à une zone urbaine. L’analyse se concentre sur les transformations dans le temps des relations qu’entretiennent les habitants d’une ville du sud-est de la France avec un fleuve. De la zone agricole d’hier – où les habitants conjuguaient leur vie à l’irrégularité du fleuve, vivant au gré de ses crues, contraignantes mais fertilisantes – au quartier urbain d’aujourd’hui – où l’on habite pour l’intérêt géographique et paysager que la situation octroie, entre ville, mer, et axes de transport, tout en se protégeant fermement du risque inondation –, le mot riverain a perdu de son sens, altérant les possibilités de développement d’une culture locale du risque.
