Full textUsing an ethno-psychological point of view, this thesis analyses the interaction between mothers and babies the principal hypothesis of the study concerns the role of holding (maternal and familial) as a way to relieve child angst. It contains a study of a Brazilian people of Amazonia: the Deni of the river Xerua the clinical investigation of Deni families is based on a combination of three methods: direct observation of early interactions, filmic observation and questionnaire on the cultural representation and conducts regarding the cares given to young children. A comparison between Deni and the so called "riverside" population is provided

Full textBecause of migration, individuals and thier families are confronted to two major events. On one hand, they have to bear the fact of living for away from their homeland where representations and practices are actually experienced and transmitted from one generation to another. On the other hand, in their new country, they have to cope with other cultural patterns, which are different and sometimes opposite to their ownpatterns. To measure the impact of these two events on mothering in general, and on motherhood and mother-and-child interactions in particular, this study is based on the comparison of two groups (a total of 133 families) of Moroccan families. One of these groups lives in morocco while the other one lives in France. The comparison is about : - the amount of cultural representations in the mother-and-child relationships. - the evaluation of the true relationship in the same dyad. - the description of the interactions beetween mothers and babies in two different situations : during breast-feeding and while playing. Most of the mothers are primipara ones and the children's ages range from a few days to twelve months

Full textWe have prioritized a multi-dimensional approach of the mother-child feeding relationship, from the following research question : can the feeding relationship between a mother and her child be the starting point for the development of eating disorder, and maybe for a subsequent eating disorder? Objectives: understanding of this relation on the child's relation to food. Estimating the junction between this relation and individual factors and environmental. Arousing a reflection about the possibility that a neurological vulnerability may be associated. Population: 21 eating disorders women and 7 mothers having at least one child suffering from eating disorders. Method: Questionnaires for Eating Disorder Diagnoses, Dutch Eating Behaviour Questionnaire and a semi-directive interview. Data analyses showed the influence of negative emotions in the eating disorder's group; and a tendency, among mothers, to eat in reaction to external stimuli. Finally, we can assert that the mother and child feeding relationship cannot be the only explanation for eating disorder's complexity

Full textThe subject of our research is the extensive study of the psychological profile of mother-son(s) relationships, as described by mothers who have sons, in current Greek social reality. By examining the sociocultural factors of this relationship during the last forty years and by analysing the psychological structures and the psychological interactions that take place between the two partners of the above relationship, we defined the theoretical framework of our approach. We used an ethnomethodological approach and a qualitative analysis of semi-structured interviews. The subjects of these interviews concerned : a) the actual description of mother-son(s) relationships by the mothers of our sample and b) their viewpoints towards the differences between the two sexes as well as their own maternal capacity-both considered of crucial importance for the formation of the profile of the relationship between mothers and their son(s). We remark that mother-son relationship in Greece, is characterized by a profound investment of the maternal function, whenever the child belongs to masculine sex

Full textThis work articulates theory and clinical practice in order to examine the representation of mother's instinctual, natural and unconditional love through different clinical narratives. Clinical work with mothers leads inevitably to a study of the ambivalence in every human relationship, including the mother-child relationship. Past trauma and suffering can disrupt a mother's libidinal investment in her child and make the transition to motherhood extremely difficult. This work investigates the reasons for which a child's birth can cause different movements of unconscious hate that can become symptomatic and destructive. The difference between the terms aggression, violence and hate is underlined. The question of infanticide, acting out of extreme violence, is as well posed, as the ultimate point of an "out-law" motherhood. Hate reflects the horror of castration and the lack of being. The reactivation of lack is connected to hate, as a passion of being, defined as lack of being. Behind every impossible mourning, the impossible mourning of the maternal object, of the Thing, is revealed. The Thing is the real pole of the subject's hate

Full textRelying mainly on aid and advice, it may happen that, confronted with problems of subjectivation limits, the work becomes inoperative in the Educational Action in Open Medium. As a clinical psychologist in such a service, we had to overcome this hurdle, imagine other techniques and develop our role in this context. We have designed and gradually implemented a diagnostic tool, a therapeutic device as well as an autonomous theoretical concept: the story of a pregnancy. It is a work of associative history around perinatality that we can define also, at the suggestion of Rene Roussillon, as a focal association device. In order to give a place to the psychic reality, generally ignored in Educationnal Action, we called around this original thread (although in the parentage of the family story of Freud) to a narrative work of the conception times, of pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding as well as the couple meeting and the desire for a child, of women-mothers yet stuck in incestual problematic (Racamier) and narcissistic identity suffering (Roussillon). We illustrate in this work, through numerous cases and six clinical studies, how this new modality of approach to these women has allowed us to overcome a form of initial psychological deafness (and perhaps bilateral…) and served to relaunch stimulating work that has motivated this writing, and encourages us to think that the story of a pregnancy could be generalised to other settings and considered as a valuable tool for the clinicians

Full textThis investigation arises from the analysis performed in a support workshop aimed at mothers of patients who suffer eczema (atopic dermatitis). In the set of clinical cases that were received in this support workshop, the suffering of the children is delusively related to the ghosts of each of the family members. In the stories of these women the distinctive characters of the illness acquire an important place, as to how the mother's psych operates. These stories (family novels) have a protective function as they hinder the encounter with traumatic memories and allow fleeing from anguish. Notwithstanding, the necessity of finding significance is evident, for due to the child's illness there is a rebirth of the repression, which is evidenced in the bond between family members and the expression of feelings such as anxiety and depression. The main topics that appear in'these stories are the scars that the illness leaves on the body of the child, the prohibition of touching the body, the scratching, the psychic indiscrimination with the children as well as with the parents themselves, the unachieved grief, etc

Full textThis research consists of a study of the somatic complaints of Tunisian adolescent girls to their difficulties pertaing to feminine identification. The theoretical setting refers mainly to the psycho-analytic corpus. The methodology is comparative. It relies on two groups, each being made up of 25 adolescents ; in one group those who obtained the highest score in answering a questionnaire of somatic complaints, in the other group, the lowest score the results obtained at the first test (senario) show that the mothers of the two groups of adolescent generally encourage emancipating values but block the values too "liberating". At the T. A. T. (second test) the representations of the maternal image are clearly more conflictual with the adolescents who suffer. The representations of men are generally strongly negative. The intrafamilial communication is poor

Full textThis work concentrates on a diachronic presentation, through autobiographies and novels written by women of letters, of the evolution of the way in which the relationships between mother and daughter are depicted and of their essential importance in the works. This evolution follows the accession of women to a level of social recognition which has mainly been attained during the 20th century; after having been a novelistic model for Sand and Colette, the mother figure becomes a social emblem under the pen of Leduc and above all of Beauvoir who theorizes her place and exploitation which are amplified in her novels and autobiographical narratives. The mother then becomes an allegorical figure embodying death according to Duras and Yourcenar, before providing Cardinal and Sarraute with the opportunity of a liberation through speech. The following women writers, in an opposite process, turn the mother at the end of her life into a role model, in whom they can recognize themselves to the extent that they submit themselves entirely to her will, in Châtelet’s works. After having freed themselves from the mother figure and having written against her, women writers now write for her; the emergence of a feminine literature followed up a liberation from the mother, but the process has been reversed

Faced to the fibromyalgia, the lack of evidence and the therapeutics failures, stigmatize patient’s narratives, prevent its recognition and emphasize the uncertainty of doctors, while reconsidering their role of caregivers. It’s in this context that we question the function of therapeutic resistance on an unconscious level. Our hypothesis is put to work with a content analysis of five research interviews, leaded with women with fibromyalgia, supported by data from a Rorschach test. An unconscious resistance acts constantly and jointly with the physiological resistance, when the subject is struggling with a certain ideal self-image, especially that of sacrifice and devotion to others

Full textFor the child, the first parental function is to place him in a lineage which enables him to web his identity in the frame of a filiation. Under the light of the intra psychological interactions in mother-child groups under study in CMPP, and starting from analysis of projective and thematic test, our objective is to study parenthood in Guadeloupe. In Guadeloupe, family organizes itself around and extremly codified model : the matrifocal system which is prevalent and whose main feature is the mother. This system is characterize by the father, an evanescent person, frequency of children out of wedlock, siblings from, different fathers are the consecutive features of matrifocal family. This family shaken and weakened due to changes society. Increase of split families, weakening in of parents' power, augmentation in suicide amond teenagers, abortion amid adolescent mothers as well as serious pathologies are the trends of those patients we are dealing with in our medical centers. These symptomatic compel us to pay attention as therapist. But during several centuries, breaks in the parent's functions and rights had consequences on the behavior and the psyche of those in their parenting role. According to Dr Houzel, the circle in which the child grows is a mixed combination of conscious and unconscious representations the mother brings to the child. It is a relationnal system between two beings oneself and another, between generations and sexes and in-between the impact of the relationship within the couple and finally the mother-father's child relationship. Our hypothesis is that ability of the mother to convey constructive parental images to her child trough identification depends of the quality of her own parental imago

Full textThis study seeks to shed the light on the role of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) as a management tool adopted by multinational corporations in their monitoring of the headquarters/ subsidiary performance. We have opted for a deductive approach, focusing on multinational corporations whose subsidiaries are based in Morocco and which are endowed with the ERP tool. To meet this end, we have carried out both a qualitative and a quantitative study. Qualitatively, the six semi directive interviews conducted with the subsidiaries management fit in harmoniously with the items that figure in our questionnaire, submitted to 104 subsidiaries in the framework of a quantitative study. We have found out that even if subsidiaries benefit from autonomy as far as management is concerned, the headquarters still impose the strategic vision and intervene at how ERP must be implemented. Indeed, ERP acts positively on the headquarters/subsidiary relationship by rendering data even, making coordination fluid and facilitating budget control and goals follow- up. Other merits that the ERP tool offers include: time saving, ease of use, tracking, availability and easy data exchange. Nevertheless, ERP has not been fully utilized due to the difficulty of matching its features. Basically, head offices make use of ERP in evaluating financial performance, namely reporting sales and inventory management. Otherwise, it remains less operational

Full textAutism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) involve a significantly different developmental prognosis depending on severity and associated disorders. Relationship difficulties, inadequate behaviours and the specific needs of the child have implications on family functioning and affect parents' experiences. This situation generates significant stress that can potentially undermine parental cohesion, affect parent-child interactions, impair parenting, and lead to lessened perceptions of the quality of family relationships. Considering the social ecology of the family environment allows us to question the relationship between the family climate perceived by mothers, evaluated by the IRF (LARIPE, 1989), and the perceived maternal stress, measured by the ISP/FB (Bigras, LaFrenière and Abidin, 1996), taking into account the singularity of disability, namely autistic disorder severity, determined by the EEAI (Rogé, 1989), and the coexistence of a language disorder and/or an associated intellectual impairment defined by medical diagnosis realized prior to study.Language competence has a high impact, both on the age of parental alert and age of diagnosis by professionals, and is strongly associated with the severity of autistic disorders evaluation (N=65). Depending on the level of perceived maternal stress, using a cluster analysis based on the dimensions of ISP/FB, the quality of family relationships differs significantly. The most stressed mothers perceive the family climate as more confrontational. By considering maternal experience at the eco-systemic level rather than dyadic, an ecological intervention by integrating a MIRA Foundation (Quebec) assistance dog into the family group (n=24) produced a concomitant decrease for maternal stress related to management of child's difficult behaviours and for severity of autistic disorders. In absence of differences in the first measurement time with mothers waiting for service (n=26), mothers in families with a dog are less stressed both overall, than for interactions and for education of the autistic child. They also perceive a more favourable relationship climate. Results obtained highlight the contribution of animal mediation to improving the quality of life of all members in the microsystem, particularly on intra and extra-familial interactions facilitation
Dozio, Elisabetta. "La transmission du traumatisme de la mère au bébé en contexte humanitaire." Thesis, Sorbonne Paris Cité, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017USPCB217.
Full textSeveral studies on the inter- and trans-gerational transmission of trauma confirm the evidence of transmission without giving a detailed description of the process that could be the basis of mother to child direct transmission. Understanding this process could help to think and promote early care for traumatized mothers and their children. This is especially important in contexts of collective trauma, such as humanitarian emergencies, where a large part of the population is exposed to extreme and repeated traumatic events. In order to identify the determinants of the mother to child direct transmission in a humanitarian context, we recruited twenty-four mother-child dyads, in three countries affected by the Central African political and religious crisis started in 2013 (Central African Republic, Chad and Cameroon). The twenty-four dyads were composed by mothers exposed to one or more traumatic events, in the absence of the child, before childbirth or during pregnancy and their children, aged from one month to three years. We met the mother-child dyads during a semi-structured interview that we filmed in order to allow a microanalysis of the cross-modal (visual, bodily, vocal) interactions between mother and child. The objective was to understand whether interactions underwent modifications during the revocation of the traumatic event by the mother, and if yes, to have a better comprehension of these changes. Dyadic interactions were also observed in a free play situation without the presence of interviewers. Maternal representations as well as traumatic markers in mother discourse have been taken into account as factors contributing to the traumatic transmission. The results of the dyadic exchanges analysis during the interview show some evidences in the modification of interactions during the traumatic revocation of the mother. The details of this difference in mother-child interactions are presented in the results session. In the discussion session, the results from the microanalysis of interactions, have been connected to the mother's speech where we can notice the role of maternal representations about the child that have an important involvement in traumatic transmission. The analysis of all these multiple components seems to indicate that maternal trauma influences the mother's representations about the child, her relationship with him and the intergenerational mandate of which the child will be assigned to. In addition, traumatized mothers who are overwhelmed by their own negative emotional state, have difficulties in interpreting the child's verbal and non-verbal expressions correctly and finding appropriate answers. This difficulty is reflected in the transmission of mother negative emotional state to the child, who interprets the mother's lack of response or inadequate responses to his solicitations, as negative signals about his own emotional state. The child has no other strategies than internalizing the maternal negative affective state and transforming it into its own internal state. Despite the evidence of the transmission of the negative emotional state from the mother to the child, we have observed some protective factors that can preserve mothers and children from the inevitability of this transmission. Mothers and children show many internal resources and skills that suggest a possible recovery as well as give the basis to think about the prevention of traumatic transmission, when the process is already underway. To conclude this work we present clinical applications for the management of traumatized mothers and their young children in order to reduce the effects of the possible transmission of trauma to the child or, where possible, to prevent it

Full textNowadays, the Ivoirian society evolution creates a disorder in the organisation of the traditional familial cell. It allows to explain partly the pathological troubles presented by the children met in abidjan at the children care center of adjame and the sos children's village of abobo. The use of the psychanalytical theory to approach the interpretation of the cases and to understand each child's reality, brings us to resort to the dimension of the tuboo and the law as a founder by the subject's language

Full textFeminity opens up a field of research though which to define and demarcate the function of certain models resulting from the Freudian approach such as that of anality : stage, zone, relationship. Conducting an investigation in this field involves clinical practice and theory. After an historic reminder of the various theses on feminine psychosexuality, the research will invoke the distinctions regarding the relationship, depression and the Oedipus complex in young girls. Anality, which is often associated with feelings of shame and guilt, constitues a relationship treated as an an organising and integrating movement. The issue at stake is not simply the attainment of genital sexuality but also the processes of separation and symbolisation in the course of psychic maturation. Many expressions of the anal relationship entail demonstrations of hate, disgust and shame of dirty, impure sensations. Masochism is the crucial question at this point. Anality is often concealed in adult's sex lives despite being revealed by specific behaviour without knowing whether such activities come into the category of perverse practices or private intimacy. As a result, the emphasis is placed on the notion of infantile sexuality. .
