Full textBecause of migration, individuals and thier families are confronted to two major events. On one hand, they have to bear the fact of living for away from their homeland where representations and practices are actually experienced and transmitted from one generation to another. On the other hand, in their new country, they have to cope with other cultural patterns, which are different and sometimes opposite to their ownpatterns. To measure the impact of these two events on mothering in general, and on motherhood and mother-and-child interactions in particular, this study is based on the comparison of two groups (a total of 133 families) of Moroccan families. One of these groups lives in morocco while the other one lives in France. The comparison is about : - the amount of cultural representations in the mother-and-child relationships. - the evaluation of the true relationship in the same dyad. - the description of the interactions beetween mothers and babies in two different situations : during breast-feeding and while playing. Most of the mothers are primipara ones and the children's ages range from a few days to twelve months

Full textWe have prioritized a multi-dimensional approach of the mother-child feeding relationship, from the following research question : can the feeding relationship between a mother and her child be the starting point for the development of eating disorder, and maybe for a subsequent eating disorder? Objectives: understanding of this relation on the child's relation to food. Estimating the junction between this relation and individual factors and environmental. Arousing a reflection about the possibility that a neurological vulnerability may be associated. Population: 21 eating disorders women and 7 mothers having at least one child suffering from eating disorders. Method: Questionnaires for Eating Disorder Diagnoses, Dutch Eating Behaviour Questionnaire and a semi-directive interview. Data analyses showed the influence of negative emotions in the eating disorder's group; and a tendency, among mothers, to eat in reaction to external stimuli. Finally, we can assert that the mother and child feeding relationship cannot be the only explanation for eating disorder's complexity

Full textThe subject of our research is the extensive study of the psychological profile of mother-son(s) relationships, as described by mothers who have sons, in current Greek social reality. By examining the sociocultural factors of this relationship during the last forty years and by analysing the psychological structures and the psychological interactions that take place between the two partners of the above relationship, we defined the theoretical framework of our approach. We used an ethnomethodological approach and a qualitative analysis of semi-structured interviews. The subjects of these interviews concerned : a) the actual description of mother-son(s) relationships by the mothers of our sample and b) their viewpoints towards the differences between the two sexes as well as their own maternal capacity-both considered of crucial importance for the formation of the profile of the relationship between mothers and their son(s). We remark that mother-son relationship in Greece, is characterized by a profound investment of the maternal function, whenever the child belongs to masculine sex

Full textThis work articulates theory and clinical practice in order to examine the representation of mother's instinctual, natural and unconditional love through different clinical narratives. Clinical work with mothers leads inevitably to a study of the ambivalence in every human relationship, including the mother-child relationship. Past trauma and suffering can disrupt a mother's libidinal investment in her child and make the transition to motherhood extremely difficult. This work investigates the reasons for which a child's birth can cause different movements of unconscious hate that can become symptomatic and destructive. The difference between the terms aggression, violence and hate is underlined. The question of infanticide, acting out of extreme violence, is as well posed, as the ultimate point of an "out-law" motherhood. Hate reflects the horror of castration and the lack of being. The reactivation of lack is connected to hate, as a passion of being, defined as lack of being. Behind every impossible mourning, the impossible mourning of the maternal object, of the Thing, is revealed. The Thing is the real pole of the subject's hate
