Abstract:
Differences in consumer involvement with the products have been stated to be dependent on various product and brand related factors, viz., consumers' risk perceptions, product's hedonic value, product familiarity, brand awareness, dissimilarity, and difficulty of choice termed in this paper as antecedents of involvement. This paper investigates the relationship between product related antecedent conditions and consumer involvement for three products. It is found that consumer involvement differed across different types of products. Infrequently purchased durable products were more involving than frequently purchased non-involving products. The findings have significant implications for formulation of marketing strategies.

Gardner, Bradley. "Italian Domination on Ladders and Related Products." Digital Commons @ East Tennessee State University, 2018. https://dc.etsu.edu/etd/3509.

Full text
Abstract:
An Italian dominating function on a graph $G = (V,E)$ is a function such that $f : V \to \{0,1,2\}$, and for each vertex $v \in V$ for which $f(v) = 0$, we have $\sum_{u\in N(v)}f(u) \geq 2$. The weight of an Italian dominating function is $f(V) = \sum_{v\in V(G)}f(v)$. The minimum weight of all such functions on a graph $G$ is called the Italian domination number of $G$. In this thesis, we will consider Italian domination in various types of products of a graph $G$ with the complete graph $K_2$. We will find the value of the Italian domination number for ladders, specific families of prisms, mobius ladders and related products including categorical products $G\times K_2$ and lexicographic products $G\cdot K_2$. Finally, we will conclude with open problems.

Camou-Arriola, Fernando Alberto Josue. "Structure determinations of natural products and related molecules." Diss., The University of Arizona, 1989. http://hdl.handle.net/10150/184773.

Full text
Abstract:
Structures were determined for 48 new natural products and several related compounds by NMR methods. One new natural product and two unnatural product structures were determined by X-ray diffraction. Molecular mechanics calculations on two indoles related to the neurotransmitter serotonin and on some synthetic cyclophanes were used to gain information about their preferred conformations. Considerable time is wasted redetermining the structures of known natural products when they are encountered in new sources. To help alleviate this problem, a database which searches on proton NMR chemical shifts was developed.

Hussain, Amjad. "The synthesis of heterocyclic compounds related to natural products." Thesis, Swansea University, 2001. https://cronfa.swan.ac.uk/Record/cronfa43039.

Full text
Abstract:
The thesis relates to the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds related to Natural Products. Chapter 1 deals with an introduction to hypervalent iodine reagents and their uses as phenolic oxidation reagents. The mechanism is also discussed. Chapter 2 concentrates on the production of 3-substituted phenols and the subsequent hypervalent iodine oxidation to see if a variety of chromenone compounds can be formed via intramolecular attack. Whilst not successful in generating the desired compounds, a number of oxidised products were isolated. Chapter 3 deals with making the 3-nucleophilic side chain on various phenols more rigid in the hope of aiding cyclisation. One reaction of note from this chapter was that an epoxide ring utilised, to give rigidity in the side chain, withstood the hypervalent iodine oxidation. Chapter 4 utilises the epoxide to bring rigidity to the 3-substituted side chain. All products bar one proved successful in generating their appropriate epoxychromenes, and that which didn't provided an alternative cyclised product. The final chapter deals with possible future work now that some success has been achieved.

Abstract:
Additive manufacturing (AM) has gained increased attention in the last decade as a versatile manufacturing process for customized products. AM processes can create complex free-form shapes, introducing features such as internal cavities and lattices. These complex geometries are either not feasible or very costly with traditional manufacturing processes. This creates new challenges in maintaining and communicating dimensional and geometric accuracy of parts produced. In order to manufacture a product that meets functional needs, the specification of those needs through geometry, material and tolerances is necessary. This paper surveys the current state and needs of geometry related accuracy specification mechanisms for AM, including a review of specification standards such as ASME Y14.5 and ISO 1101. Emerging AM-related tolerancing challenges are identified, and a potential plan of action is put forth for addressing those challenges. Various issues highlighted in this paper are classified as (a) AM-driven specification issues and (b) specification issues highlighted by the versatility of AM processes. AM-driven specification issues include build direction, layer thickness, support structure related specification, and scan/track direction. Specification issues highlighted by the versatility of AM processes include, region-based tolerances for complex freeform surfaces, tolerancing internal functional features, tolerancing lattice and infills. Basic methods of solving these specification issues are also highlighted.

Abstract:
We used eye tracking to measure visual attention to tobacco products and pro- and anti-tobacco advertisements (pro-ads and anti-ads) during a shopping task in a three-dimensional virtual convenience store. We used eye-tracking hardware to track the percentage of fixations (number of times the eye was essentially stationary; F) and dwell time (time spent looking at an object; DT) for several categories of objects and ads for 30 adult current cigarette smokers. We used Wald F-tests to compare fixations and dwell time across categories, adjusting comparisons of ads by the number of each type of ad. Overall, unadjusted for the number of each object, participants focused significantly greater attention on snacks and drinks and tobacco products than ads (all P<0.005). Adjusting for the number of each type of ad viewed, participants devoted significantly greater visual attention to pro-ads than anti-ads or ads unrelated to tobacco (P<0.001). Visual attention for anti-ads was significantly greater when the ads were placed on the store’s external walls or hung from the ceiling than when placed on the gas pump or floor (P<0.005). In a cluttered convenience store environment, anti-ads at the point of sale have to compete with many other stimuli. Restrictions on tobacco product displays and advertisements at the point of sale could reduce the stimuli that attract smokers’ attention away from anti-ads.

Full text
Abstract:
There is a growing wave of concern for the embodied carbon in traded goods. One manifestation of that concern is large economies such as the USA and the European Union enacting climate-related trade measures, including border carbon adjustment. This paper reviews more than ten climate-related trade measures that are currently enacted or under discussion globally and five initiatives from large companies to source low-carbon inputs. It then assesses Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Perus vulnerability to trade restrictions, based on estimated greenhouse gas intensity of their exported goods (using an input-output analysis) relative to other global producers, and an exposure analysis that assesses the likelihood that current importers of these products might implement climate-related trade measures. Finally, it reviews existing scenarios of global oil, natural gas and coal demand, and asks what they mean for fossil fuel exports from these countries. Agricultural goods stand out as vulnerable, as they are the main driver of deforestation and associated emissions. The most serious threat is the vulnerability of fossil fuel exports, primarily crude oil and gas, which dominate the four countries current exports. The paper exposes recommendations in terms of diversifying the economy away from fossil fuels and preparing exporters to comply with emerging climate-related trade restrictions.
