Abstract:
Because of the high Incidence, and the possible resulting vocational disability it is very likely that rehabilitation counselors, particularly those employed in medical settings and the state, federal system, will work with women who have breast cancer and are eligible for services. Cancer of the breast may have significant impact on the emotional and psychological constructs of the individual, as it affects not only the patient, but her family as well and may interfere with, and disrupt the organization of the family, social, financial, education, vocational goals, and indeed the very definition of the family unit. Suggestions are made for some counseling techniques which may be used in dealing with these problems.

Abstract:
This paper describes the legal situation of European migrant workers who are in need of rehabilitation. For the sick or disabled migrant worker, living in one country and having his/her workplace in another, rehabilitation often raises complicated issues which have to be solved by an equally complex framework of legal rules. In this article, Sweden-Norway is used as a cross-border example to illustrate the problems faced by an insured person and by the social security administration during rehabilitation. The legal problems are basically attributable to differences between social security systems within the EU. Rehabilitation cases are complicated by the fact that the support an individual needs is often not a single benefit. Instead rehabilitation involves a variety of different benefits regulated by different legal instruments. EC Reg. 1408/71 aims to co-ordinate and safeguard the social security rights of migrant workers. However, legal rehabilitation tools, such as sickness and health care benefits, are co-ordinated according to different criteria and special rules covering rehabilitation are not found in the regulation. This leads to a situation where a migrant worker can have the right to cash benefits from one country and health care benefits from another. The result is sometimes confusing, both for the individual and for the administration. The article explores and analyses this confusing situation, paying special attention to the question of legal certainty for the migrant worker.

Abstract:
The urgency of the problem is due to the significant increase in recent years in the number of young and middle-aged people who have passed the war, the need to develop adequate measures of social assistance and protection. An important task in the organization of the rehabilitation process is to determine the structure of the needs of servicemen with disabilities in various types of medical and social care and the development of individual rehabilitation programs (IRP) based on them. The purpose of the study: to determine the structure of the needs of servicemen with disabilities in medical and social rehabilitation depending on the severity of disability. Statistical data from 25 administrative territories of Ukraine for 2018 are analyzed, the needs of participants of military service with disabilities in medical and social rehabilitation measures, their structure are calculated. The data of the information base of the centers and the bureau of medical and social examination of the regions were used. Processing of the primary material was performed using the universal statistical package "Excel". In 2018, medical and social expert commissions (MSEC) of Ukraine for the first time and re-certified and recognized persons with disabilities 7843 combatants. Of these, disability of group I (IA and IB) was established in 2.6 %, II – in 29.2 %, III – in 68.2 % of cases. All victims for MSEC were formed IRP. The dependence of the needs of combatants in medical and social rehabilitation measures on the severity of disability has been established. For persons with disabilities of groups II and III, priority is given to medical and professional rehabilitation, group I – social rehabilitation and technical means of rehabilitation with medical support. Of the medical rehabilitation services for persons with II and III groups of disability, sanatorium treatment is significant, and group I – rehabilitation therapy. Among vocational rehabilitation services, employment in production conditions is important – for persons with group III disabilities, in specially created conditions – for persons with group II disabilities, at home – for persons with group I disabilities. Vocational training was offered to a small number of people with disabilities of all groups. Among social rehabilitation services and technical means of rehabilitation, the services of social workers of territorial social service centers were significant for representatives of all disability groups, simpler means of transportation for persons of group III disability and more complex means for persons of group I. Determining the characteristics of the needs of servicemen with disabilities depending on its severity allows MSEC specialists to better form the IRP, develop targeted rehabilitation programs at the regional level, assess shortcomings in the organization of the rehabilitation process and build a rehabilitation system for combatants.

Abstract:
BACKGROUND: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a progressive nervous system disease that results in the early limitation of life activities and disability in young patients of working age (in 30% of cases, within the first two years of disease onset). Clinical symptoms in the advanced stage of the disease are very polymorphic and become sufficiently persistent and pronounced depending on the course options. The disease progresses to a disorder of the main functions and categories of vital activity, which necessitates socially protecting patients with MS. The primary rehabilitation aim of patients with MS is the maximum prolongation of their socially meaningful life and activities. The successful implementation of rehabilitation activities is determined by assessing the patients rehabilitation potential. The integrative concept of rehabilitation potential includes the rehabilitation potential of the body, the rehabilitation potential of the individual (an active member of microsocial groups), and the rehabilitation potential of the personality. Achievement of rehabilitation aims is based on the emotional-volitional, intellectual, and motivational rehabilitation potential of the individual. AIM: This study aimed to demonstrate the importance of a systematic integrative approach toward all aspects of rehabilitation in MS, as well as the need to assess the rehabilitation potential in forming an individual rehabilitation program that determines the successful implementation of goals at various rehabilitation stages. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This article analyzes more than 500 certificates of examining patients with MS at the sociomedical expertise (SME) bureau to clarify the clinical and functional criteria leading to social maladjustment. Rehabilitation potential was assessed, and its significance was established in the form of an individual rehabilitation program. All aspects of the individual rehabilitation program for patients with MS (medical, social, and psychological) were analyzed in detail. RESULTS: The analysis of the examination certificates of patients with MS at the SME bureau and our clinical material (500 patients) revealed that during the initial examination at the SME bureau, groups with severe disability were most often identified (groups I and II amounted to 61%). An individual rehabilitation program was developed for the disabled with MS, considering all its aspects. The rehabilitation potential assessments in patients with MS, which is only the basis and prerequisite for the formation and implementation of an individual rehabilitation program, established that the rehabilitation potential has certain characteristics due to the variants of the disease course and prognosis, opportunities for such patients to work in social groups, and their psychological attitude toward life in illness situation. As a rule, the individual rehabilitation potential in patients with MS is quite high despite the disease severity and the guarded prognosis. CONCLUSION: A clear, coordinated system of medical, social, and professional measures of the rehabilitation process is required to achieve the maximum possible success in providing medical and social assistance to patients with MS.

Abstract:
The article defines the main vector of the direction in professional training of future social workers. Definitions of the concepts of social rehabilitation and rehabilitation process are considered. The main aspects of social rehabilitation are disclosed. Based on the analysis of psychological, sociological, complex models of social and socially pedagogical work, models of social rehabilitation are identified: psychological, psychodynamic, behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, existential, sociological. The most common approaches to the implementation of sociological models of rehabilitation for social work are analyzed: systemic, ecological, role-playing and radical. The general theoretical foundations of social rehabilitation are described as a component of social and pedagogical activity, their common goals are defined, namely, the preservation and support of the individual, the group in a state of active, creative, independent attitude towards itself, its life and activity. The peculiarities of the organization of social rehabilitation are outlined and the main characteristics of this process are determined. Firstly, this is a gradual solution of problems aimed at restoring the social status of an individual, forming resistance to traumatic situations, forming a person capable of successfully integrating into society. Secondly, social rehabilitation as an end result should be aimed at achieving the ultimate goal, when a person, after undergoing comprehensive rehabilitation, becomes immersed in the socio-economic life of society and feels integrated. Thirdly, social rehabilitation acts in the form of social technology, i.e. a certain way of implementing rehabilitation activities as a result of identifying individual operations placed in a certain relationship and sequence, choosing the most effective methods of influencing the client.

Abstract:
The article presents the results of the study of recommendations both for the rehabilitation of citizens, recognized primary and re-examination as disabled patients in the Russian Federation (2014). A positive result of the implementation of individual rehabilitation program was achieved in 45.1% of persons with disabilities, with the most significant recovery rates being at the level of 51.7% (integration of disabled persons in the family and society) and 50.8% (achievement of a partial compensation of lost functions). Disturbed functions were partially restored in 28.6% ofpersons with disabilities. As a result of the analysis of questionnaires of the evaluation tool (308forms), performed in the Care Home of Labor Veterans number 17, the Department of Labor and Social Protection of Moscow, there was revealed the medical and social status of persons with disabilities staying in this institution. The gender structure ofpersons with disabilities is characterized by a slight predominance ofwomen (59.7%) versus 40.3% of men. Among of all persons with disabilities there are dominated people aged of 75-89 years (51.9%). In the implementation of the comprehensive rehabilitation of disabled patients the need in drug therapy accounts of 100%, in the physiotherapy treatment - 89.6%, and physical therapy methods are used in 99.4% ofpersons with disabilities. With bearing in mind medical indications there are applied methods of socio-environmental, social and domestic, socio-psychological, sociocultural (art therapy, library therapy and adaptive physical education). For the creation of a barrier-free environment patients with disabilities are provided with the technical means of Rehabilitation. At the end of 2014 16.0 thousand people stand on the waiting list for the admission in stationary social care institutions for adults in the Russian Federation. With taking into account of demographical situation of an aging of the population and the gain in the demand for stationary establishments [2] intended for living of the older generation of people who cannot take care of themselves independently and need constant assistance, the further development of the social service system is feasible and has an important medical health value.

Abstract:
Abstract: Many TBI patients suffer from cognitive impairments, affecting their abilities to function on a previous level. However, some patients exhibit personality changes, manifesting themselves in inadequate or inappropriate social behavior, which are considered to have even more debilitating consequences on successful social and vocational rehabilitation. The term “impaired social attention” was put forward by Dr. van Zomeren as a description of a part of these problems: Patients' analysis of social situations seems incomplete, and they seem to lack awareness of consequences of their actions. In this paper the concept of social attention will be explored, whereby it is hypothesized that impaired social attention results from underlying emotional impairments. Two aspects of emotional behavior are considered essential prerequisites for intact social attention: The ability to perceive emotional expressions of others, and the ability to form a Theory of Mind (ToM). The literature will be reviewed in order to find out whether these aspects are impaired in TBI patients.

Abstract:
There are many practical psychiatric, social, and ethical problems which accompany heart transplantation. These include pre- and postoperative anxiety and depressive conditions, postoperative delirium, and social and family dysfunctional syndromes. This paper reviews the literature critically in the following five areas: pre-transplant evaluation, coping with surgery, postoperative sequelae, rehabilitation, and management. Although most recipients have a good outcome from the physical and psychiatric points of view, a substantial minority experience family conflicts and sexual dysfunction after surgery. An average of 45% of patients from all studies returned to full-time employment. The distinctive role and contribution of the psychiatrist on the transplant team is discussed and important areas for future research are outlined.

Abstract:
There is a trend toward formalization of the rehabilitation process for older rehabilitants in a Challenging Rehabilitation Environment (CRE). This concept involves the comprehensive organization of care, support, and environment in rehabilitation wards. So far, literature about the principles of CRE is scarce. This study aims to explore the opinions of rehabilitants and informal caregivers regarding CRE, through a qualitative study between 2019 and 2020. Three telephone interviews were conducted with informal caregivers, and also 3 focus groups with 15 rehabilitants and 3 informal caregivers, all with recent experience in rehabilitation. Nine themes emerged regarding the rehabilitation process: (1) rehabilitant (attention for resilience, motivation, cognitive and emotional aspects), (2) rehabilitant centered (goal setting, physical and cognitive functioning and coping), (3) informal caregivers (involving and attention for resilience and relation), (4) communication (aligning the rehabilitation process), (5) exercise (increasing intensity by using task-oriented exercise, patient-regulated exercise, and group training), (6) peer support (learning experiences and recognition), (7) daily schedule (influence on the planning and activities outside therapy), (8) nutrition (energy for rehabilitation), and (9) eHealth (makes rehabilitation more challenging and fun). Regarding organizational processes, 4 themes were identified: (1) environmental aspects (single bedrooms, shared room for activities and therapy options on the ward), (2) staff aspects (small team with an emphatic supportive and motivating attitude), (3) organizational aspects (organized in an efficient way), and (4) return home (the discharge process should be well prepared for instance with home visits). Organizing excellent rehabilitation care requires a thorough understanding of the concept of CRE, as it is a complex and comprehensive concept that concerns the whole rehabilitation process. Its effectiveness and efficiency should be researched in prospective studies.

Abstract:
Bibliotherapy represents the planned use of literary texts and devices to encourage awareness and processing of emotional, cognitive, and interpersonal problems in individuals with different types of psychosocial distress. As a part of expressive arts-therapies, it includes precisely formulated goals, basic stages, and methodology that are described in this paper. In addition, an overview of recent scientific research on this topic is provided in order to gain insights on the most commonly used approaches, methodologies, and outcomes obtained, as well as the effectiveness of bibliotherapy. Based on our evaluation, we concluded that the use of bibliotherapy is an appropriate complementary approach in educational settings, for children with special needs, as well as for maintaining mental health. Considering the limitations of bibliotherapy, we emphasise the need for further research with the aim of improving practical models and assessment tools. Bibliotherapy can be a promising part of a multimodal educational and rehabilitation approach that recognises the power of language arts, which simultaneously supports both realistic and transcendental aspects of human existence.

Abstract:
Severe acquired brain injuries (sABI) represent one of the main causes of disability and limitation in social life participation that need an intensive rehabilitation approach. The purpose of this study was to identify a possible correlation between different supposed conditioning factors and the efficiency of rehabilitation interventions. In this retrospective study, data were processed regarding 44 patients admitted to a neurorehabilitation department after sABI. A significant correlation with the efficiency of the rehabilitation intervention (expressed as the variation of the Barthel score between discharge and admittance in relation to the duration of the rehabilitative hospitalization) was found for both the etiology of the brain injury (p = 0.023), the precocity of the rehabilitation treatment (p = 0.0475), the presence of a tracheal cannula (p = 0.0084) and forms of nutrition other than oral (p < 0.0001). The results of this study suggest that improving the management of the respiratory system, swallowing and nutritional aspects, and favoring an early and personalized rehabilitation treatment, can help to optimize the overall care of patients suffering from sABI, thus allowing a reduction in complications, improvement in functional recovery and ensuring a better management of economic, social and health resources.

Abstract:
Social problems are rapidly increasing in modern societies due to various reasons. One of these is drug addiction, which has become a major issue in the contemporary world, as it is proving to be a serious social problem in both developing and underdeveloped countries. This review article that focuses on the social aspects of drug addiction in Sri Lanka is based on secondary data obtained from the published works of different authors; they provide details about the identity of drugs, drug addiction and the increasing number of addicts in Sri Lanka. Drug addiction has become an important issue due to its severe impact on public health, its tendency to encourage crime, cause diseases, poverty and destruction of family life in Sri Lanka. Heroin and cannabis (marijuana) are found to be the most commonly used drugs in Sri Lanka. Laws and policies designed to control drug abuse and regulations on drug addicts have not brought any major change or desired outcome in the Sri Lankan drug scene. Drug users in Sri Lanka get their supply of drugs from the underground drug market, which has its internal and external sources. Rehabilitation of drug addicts has become an urgent need in the country to protect its valuable citizens who are needed to build a sustainable nation that is free from drugs. Drug addiction is preventable and can be managed successfully if every citizen of the country gives his/ her full support and contribution.

Abstract:
The article presents theoretical and methodological aspects of social support for families with adolescents with musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) in rehabilitation centres. In particular, it describes the process and results from the implementation of the author’s work with mutual support groups of parents of adolescents with MSDs. The article aims to determine and quasi-experimentally verify the methods of rehabilitation of individuals with MSDs and prove their effectiveness in rehabilitation centres with the involvement of parents. During the implementation of the programme, social work with families in centres for social rehabilitation of children with MSDs consists of the following main areas: family therapy, family psychoprophylaxis, providing social assistance to families, mediation in resolving family conflicts, family counselling, social and pedagogical work with families. The content and forms of social and pedagogical work with the family are determined by a group of the following factors: a family type, problems in the family; areas of professional training of the specialist providing services to the family. The quasi-experimental group (EG) consists of 40 leavers from the Vinnytsia Centre for Social Rehabilitation of Children with Special Needs “Promin”, who are diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and six leavers with mild mental disorders. The control group (CG) consists of 40 individuals diagnosed with cerebral palsy and seven individuals with mild mental disorders. The age requirement for EG is 14-19 years old. The formative experiment also involves 27 parents of children with MSDs. The measures taken during the experiment have contributed to developing the skills of conscious psychological separation from constant parental care, taking responsibility for their lives, setting real-life goals and destroying the position of helplessness in individuals with MSDs. The article shows that a set of causes and factors affecting families’ well-being positively or negatively determines the interpersonal relationships and the traditions of family education. The international relevance of the article lies in the effective combination of social support for families with adolescents with MSDs in rehabilitation centres and parents’ involvement. The author’s methodology forms the basis for the new aspects of synergistic family and institutional rehabilitation and support.

Abstract:
The socio-economic transformations identified the necessity to improve the socio-pedagogical work in the penitentiary system. This is important for the humanization of the rehabilitation process through the educational activities’ organization, the search for effective forms, methods and means of influencing the consciousness and behavior of convicts. The most important values for convicts are those that will ensure their individual existence, and the values that reflect the social essence are relegated to the background in conditions of social isolation. A temporarily socially isolated person, who disconnected from the usual environment, reduces adaptive capabilities. It determines to analyze the influence of educational technologies on the process of socio-pedagogical work in conditions of the necessity of decreasing the recidivism. To stimulate appropriate social integration, which is in demand by the society and aimed at mastering new social roles and necessary skills of constructive social behavior after release. Method of theoretical analysis and systematization of scientific ideas; theoretical analysis of the resources; the study and generalization of the experience of social educators-innovators; observations, conversations, were used. The conclusions create prerequisites for updating the existing technologies of socio-pedagogical work in penitentiary institutions.

Objective. To study clinical and expert parameters, life limitations and aspects of rehabilitation using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) in patients with systemic hypertension (HTN) associated with metabolic syndrome (MS).Design and methods. The study included 273 patients with HTN and MS, examined in the Bureau of Medical and Social Expertise of St Petersburg. All patients underwent complete examination when referred for medical and social expertise. The profile of patients’ functioning and rehabilitation effectiveness were studied using the ICF domains: b4200 — increased blood pressure; b4150 — arterial function; b4101 — heart rate; b4102 — myocardial contractility; b4550 — general physical endurance; b460 — cardiovascular sensations. The severity of the violations was coded using a quantitative assessment from their absence (0–4%) to absolute violations (96–100%).Results. In HTN patients examined in the Bureau of Medical and Social Expertise of St Petersburg, the 3‑component MS (disorders of glucose metabolism, abdominal obesity, increased level of low-density lipoproteins) is the most common one. Persistent violations result from a high degree of HTN, severity of complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus, functional class of angina and chronic heart failure, severity of arrhythmias. Evaluation of cardiovascular dysfunction with ICF showed a wide range from absence of violations to absolute impairments in the same patient. The patients demonstrate 1–2 degree disability. After rehabilitation measures, some ICF domains changed.Conclusions. Clinical and expert evaluation of HTN with MS is variable depending on the severity of MS components. Patients with HTN with MS, recognized as disabled, need a complex of rehabilitation measures, including all the main directions of an individual rehabilitation/habilitation program. ICF can be used to assess impaired functions in patients and their changes after rehabilitation measures.

Abstract:
SummaryRehabilitation aims at avoiding unfavourable consequences of a disorder and its care and at training and improving impaired and compensatory skills. The needs of the main diagnostic groups with resulting cognitive or social impairments, namely mental retardation, infantile autism, chronic depression, severe psychoneurosis, substance abuse, schizophrenia, and dementia in old age, have specific aspects. An increased need for rehabilitation was prompted by the worldwide movement of deinstitutionalisation, which hit above all the socially most vulnerable schizophrenics. The instruments and methods of rehabilitation for the socially disabled mentally ill go far beyond the sphere of psychiatry. Individualised rehabilitation must be in mutual interaction with the social and occupational environment. The socially disabled individual is, for example, dependent upon awareness and acceptance in the community, upon financial and social support or upon the availability of a job. In the case of persisting deficits, supportive measures at different levels are needed to compensate or to minimize severe consequences of impairments. Their approach is by the social environment with the objective to grant the optimum quality of life combined with a minimum loss of independence. The great variety of measures often required at the same time must be based on a network of services and their purposeful coordination. Psychiatric rehabilitation requires a functioning social system and, in times of scarce resources, political priorities.

Abstract:
In a chronic and disabling disease like multiple sclerosis, rehabilitation programs are of major importance for the preservation of physical, physiological, social and professional functioning and improvement of quality of life. Currently, it is generally assumed that physical activity is an important component of non-pharmacological rehabilitation in multiple sclerosis. Properly organized exercise is a safe and efficient way to induce improvements in a number of physiological functions. A multidisciplinary rehabilitative approach should be recommended. The main recommendations for the use of exercise for patients with multiple sclerosis have been listed. An important aspect of the modern physical rehabilitation in multiple sclerosis is the usage of high-tech methods. The published results of robot-assisted training to improve the hand function and walking impairment have been represented. An important trend in the rehabilitation of patients with multiple sclerosis is the reduction of postural disorders through training balance coordination. The role of transcranial magnetic stimulation in spasticity reducing is being investigated. The use of telemedicine capabilities is quite promising. Due to the fact that the decline in physical activity can lead to the deterioration of many aspects of physiological functions and, ultimately, to mobility decrease, further research of the role of physical rehabilitation as an important therapeutic approach in preventing the progression of disability in multiple sclerosis is required.

Abstract:
There is a physical world and a world of meanings, symbols and social relationships. Neuroscience considers brain as a biological machine. Social science studies the human relationships.Nowadays we know cerebral processes underlying several aspects of social behavior.Cerebral damages or dysfunctions can influence the social behavior, as well as the social experiences can shape the development, structuring and functioning of the brain and, consequently, condition the further responses of the individuals to the social events. Humans are embodied subject. In an objective sense we are bodies with a brain, in a subjective sense we are individuals in a social world. This is a relevant matter for all the medical sciences, not only for psychiatry. The real-life functioning of individuals with schizophrenia shows deficits in several daily-life abilities, in social relationships and in the work activities. According to literature and clinical practice, basic criterions are: bio-psycho-social vulnerability, stressful life events, coping strategies as well as social and relational competence.Neurocognitive activity shows a straight correlation, albeit indirect, with the real-life functioning. Positive symptoms, negative symptoms and disorganized behavior can considerably influence the real-life functioning. While social and relational competence, the general functioning and resilience are protective factors that can positively condition real-life functioning. Moreover, welfare services (i.e. assisted job placement; disability subsidies; etc.) and a good family and social network can considerably influence the results.According to the results above, we can affirm the importance to adopt integrated and personalized therapeutic-rehabilitative program for the treatment of schizophrenia and other serious mental disorders.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.
