Abstract:
The singularities of manipulators with offset wrists are difficult to enumerate. This article presents a numerical study to illuminate singularity problems when using an offset wrist with an articulated regional arm. Ironically, the regional manipulator singularity problem is worsened when using a singularity-free offset wrist. No wrist singularities exist (they are forced by design to lie outside of joint limits). However, the existing regional arm singularities become skewed from the well-known singular configurations of common manipulators. The wrist offset also skews the well-known wrist singularities (though they hopefully still lie outside of joint limits, their locations are no longer easily determined). Thus, a zero-offset singularity-free wrist is preferable with regard to overall manipulator singularities.

Abstract:
Singularities form surfaces in the jointspace of a serial manipulator. Paï and Leu (Paï and Leu, 1992, IEEE Trans. Rob. Autom., 8, pp. 545–559) introduced the important notion of generic manipulator, the singularity surfaces of which are smooth and do not intersect with each other. Burdick (Burdick, 1995, J. Mech. Mach. Theor., 30, pp. 71–89) proposed a homotopy-based classification method for generic 3R manipulators. Through this classification method, it was stated in Wenger, 1998, J. Mech. Des., 120, pp. 327–332 that there exist exactly eight classes of generic 3R manipulators. A counterexample to this classification is provided: a generic 3R manipulator belonging to none of the eight classes identified in (Wenger, 1998, J. Mech. Des., 120, pp. 327–332) is presented. The weak point of the proof given in (J. Mech. Des., 120, pp. 327–332) is highlighted. The counterexample proves the existence of at least nine homotopy classes of generic 3R manipulators. The paper points out two peculiar properties of the manipulator proposed as a counterexample, which are not featured by any manipulator belonging to the eight homotopy classes so far discovered. Eventually, it is proven in this paper that at most four branches of the singularity curve can coexist in the jointspace of a generic 3R manipulator and therefore at most eleven homotopy classes are possible.

Abstract:
The smoothing effect of data interpolation could cause useful information loss in geochemical mapping, and the uncertainty assessment of geochemical anomaly could help to extract reasonable anomalies. In this paper, multiple-point geostatistical simulation and local singularity analysis (LSA) are proposed to identify regional geochemical anomalies and potential mineral resources areas. Taking Cu geochemical data in the Mila Mountain Region, southern Tibet, as an example, several conclusions were obtained: (1) geochemical mapping based on the direct sampling (DS) algorithm of multiple-point geostatistics can avoid the smoothing effect through geochemical pattern simulation; (2) 200 realizations generated by the direct sampling simulation reflect the uncertainty of an unsampled value, and the geochemical anomaly of each realization can be extracted by local singularity analysis, which shows geochemical anomaly uncertainty; (3) the singularity-quantile (S-Q) analysis method was used to determine the separation thresholds of E-type α, and uncertainty analysis was carried out on the copper anomaly to obtain the anomaly probability map, which should be more reasonable than the interpolation-based geochemical map for geochemical anomaly identification. According to the anomaly probability and favorable geological conditions in the study area, several potential mineral resource targets were preliminarily delineated to provide direction for subsequent mineral exploration.

Full text
Abstract:
In this paper, we investigate trajectory tracking in a multi-input nonlinear system, where there is little knowledge of the system parameters and the form of the nonlinear function. An identification-based iterative learning control (ILC) scheme to repetitively estimate the linearity in a neighborhood of a desired trajectory is presented. Based on this estimation, the original nonlinear system can track the desired trajectory perfectly by the aid of a regional training scheme. Just like in adaptive control, a singularity exists in ILC when the input coupling matrix is estimated. Singularity avoidance is discussed. A new parameter modification procedure for ILC is presented such that the determinant of the estimate of the input coupling matrix is uniformly bounded from below. Compared with the scheme used for adaptive control of a MIMO system, the proposed scheme reduces the computation load greatly. It is used in a robotic visual system for manipulator trajectory tracking without any information about the camera-robot relationship. The estimated image Jacobian is updated repetitively and then its inverse is used to calculate the manipulator velocity without any singularity.

Abstract:
This research aimed to use nonlinear theory and technology to describe the spatial distribution of heavy metals in the surface sediments of the Zhongsha Islands Sea region. The goal of this study is to explore the spatial distribution characteristics of heavy metals in the surface sediments of the Zhongsha Islands. The singularity theory and method were used to delineate heavy metal geochemical anomalies and the generalized self-similarity analysis method was used to decompose heavy metal geochemical anomalies and background concentrations. The results showed that there were abnormally high concentrations of heavy metals in the deep-sea plain area and in the western central sand trough area. The results of this study can inform priority areas for environmental monitoring. The element anomalies extracted by the singularity analysis method in this paper can be a guide to the next step in the investigation and provide the basis for the regional environmental assessment.

Purpose Food markets represent a pathway to explore the authenticity and identity of a territory. Markets are a crucial example among food tourism practices in urban contexts. This paper aims to analyze the products that build the particular food landscape of Costa Daurada, Catalonia, Spain. Design/methodology/approach To achieve it, the research was based on the study of foods offered in three regional markets. Findings Results show how Costa Daurada is gastronomically characterized and what products convey the diversity and singularity of the region. Originality/value The originality of this paper lies on the building of a regional gastronomy landscape on the basis of the iconic products delivered at local food markets, regarded as shared spaces between locals and tourists.

Abstract:
In this paper, we propose a mixed Jacobi-Fourier spectral method for solving the Fisher equation in a disc. Some mixed Jacobi-Fourier approximation results are established, which play important roles in numerical simulation of various problems defined in a disc. We use the generalized Jacobi approximation to simulate the singularity of solution at the regional center. This also simplifies the theoretical analysis and provides a sparse system. The stability and convergence of the proposed scheme are proved. Numerical results demonstrate the efficiency of this new algorithm and coincide well with the theoretical analysis.

Lebanon, for many Armenians, is referred to as “our second homeland” (yergort hayrenik), and it is scarcely difficult to see why. As nowhere else in the regional diaspora, Lebanon has offered its Armenian citizens—initially refugees—the economic freedom to achieve prosperity, the political freedom to pursue their interests, and the communal autonomy to preserve their identity. These freedoms and the efflorescence that they have enabled—to say nothing of Lebanon’s singularity as the scene of unique Armenian ecclesiastical and cultural institutions—have made Lebanon a distinctive part of the Armenian diaspora. This study aims to demonstrate why this was—and continues to be—the case.

Abstract:
Abstract: The region of Northeast Asia stands out for its geopolitical singularity. It is a region dominated by actors whose actions are global in scope, even when it comes to North Korea, the region's poorest country. In addition to North Korea, interactions between China, Russia, Japan, South Korea, and the United States as an extra-regional power with military presence in the region affect the distribution of power in the International System. The consolidation of China as a Great Power has reconfigured the region and has highlighted the crucial role that this regional subsystem plays in polarity in the twenty-first century. In recent years, the consolidation of North Korea's nuclear program, the rise of Xi Jinping in China, the search for Japanese reaffirmation, reorient regional relations. This article discusses the transformations in the regional order in Northeast Asia from the end of the Cold War until its recent unfolding and its effects on the hegemonic disputes. Thus, are evaluated the processes that have been increasing the tendency towards militarization and competition in the region and the role that nuclear deterrence plays as a determining factor for the regional balance. Abstract:
The insufficient degree of common identity at the state level, the distinct regional character of axiological and ideological differences in the Ukrainian society, direct interference with the internal affairs and imposition of common identifications on the part of other subjects of international relations considerably aggravates the threat of separatism, leads to the increase of joint identification of citizens with other societies and their political interests, which can lead to the territorial disintegration of the country. The annexation of Crimea by Russia became a significant destabilizing factor in the region, which sharpened ethnopolitical controversies on the peninsula. The most ethnically dissatisfied are Crimean Tatars and ethnic Ukrainians, who experience constant discrimination due to their ethnic origin, language, and religion from the state authorities of Crimea and Russian Federation. According to the population census, conducted by the Federal Service of State Statistics, subordinate to the Russian power, the peninsula has observed a considerable decrease of the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar population: 15.8% of Ukrainians and 10.6% of Crimean Tatars. Russians constitute the majority: 68.3% comparing to 58.3% in 2001. Different sociological studies in Crimea claim annexation to cause the intensification of regional tendencies. Thus, according to the 2016 poll, 35% of the citizens identified themselves, first of all, as Crimeans and not as the citizens of Russia, which considerably exceeds average Russian figures. This dynamics does not obviously fit the ideas of the “Russian World”; thus, the peninsula observes the implementation of the “soft deportation” policy of Crimeans, substituted by Russians. The official data state that during four years 178 thousand people have migrated to Crimea, the prevailing majority of them being Russians. Although Ukraine does not have opportunities for implementing the legislation developed in the time period of 2014–2018 for the regulation of Crimean ethnopolitical disputes on the occupied peninsula, the development and implementation of the de-occupation and reintegration strategy of Crimea is crucial for the protection of Crimean ethnic communities’ rights and restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Full text
Abstract:
Though the existence of Jewish regional cultures is widely known, the origins of the most prominent groups, Ashkenaz and Sepharad, are poorly understood, and the rich variety of other regional Jewish identities is often overlooked. Yet all these subcultures emerged in the Middle Ages. Scholars contributing to the present study were invited to consider how such regional identities were fashioned, propagated, reinforced, contested, and reshaped — and to reflect on the developments, events, or encounters that made these identities manifest. They were asked to identify how subcultural identities proved to be useful, and the circumstances in which they were deployed. The resulting volume spans the ninth to sixteenth centuries, and explores Jewish cultural developments in western Europe, the Balkans, North Africa, and Asia Minor. In its own way, each chapter considers factors — demographic, geographical, historical, economic, political, institutional, legal, intellectual, theological, cultural, and even biological — that led medieval Jews to conceive of themselves, or to be perceived by others, as bearers of a discrete Jewish regional identity. Notwithstanding the singularity of each chapter, they collectively attest to the inherent dynamism of Jewish regional identities.

Abstract:
The understanding of religious manifestations is assumed as one of the most relevant studies in the dynamics inherent to the process of acculturation occurred between indigenous and Romans in the Portuguese territory. The primary source for this view lies with the votive epigraphy, understood as a provider of divine names, rituals of worship, models of worshiping and forms of thought organization. The Portuguese Beira Interior, possessor a large number of epigraphic testimonies and repository of a remarkable diversity of theonyms and unique words in the region, appears as a singular area for the study of indigenous religious expressions and, consequently, for the study of pre-Roman communities. Taking into account this singularity and based on the joint analysis of the sum of votive monuments dedicated to indigenous deities; we have formulated a proposal of organization of the pre-Roman religious pantheon based on the degree of exclusivity from the theonyms recorded in the region under study. The ultimate goal focused the understanding of regionalism and religious thought established between the different deities, and the organization, in consequence, of the apparent disorder subsequent to such a marked diversity of theonyms. The result of this interpretation has expressed in the individualization of theonyms only mentioning in Beira Interior, in the particularization of regional theonyms which confirm to the possibility of a votive pantheon extended to adjacent regions, and in the distinction of these specifications in relation to a wider geographical scope of theonyms, i.e., in relation to the designations of the divine, widely represented in the rest of Hispanic territory. The proposed organization allowed us to perceive specific geographical areas of each of these groups, thus contributing to the definition of the fields of action of each evoked deities and the consequent definition of their attributes

Abstract:
This work makes an original and important contribution, both to the field of British fascist/extreme Right studies and to the Ulster question. British fascist studies have to date largely ignored Northern Ireland, yet it engaged the attention of all the significant fascist movements, both pro-loyalist and pro-nationalist, from the British Fascists and Sir Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists in the inter-war period to Mosley’s Union Movement, the National Front and British National Party thereafter. As a recurring site of political unrest Northern Ireland should have provided a promising arena for development, however this work demonstrates the great differences between Northern Ireland and Britain that made this problematic, especially the singularity of regional concerns and outlooks and the prominence of the constitutional issue, leaving little space for external parties to develop. Nor did framing the Ulster problem in a European context, such as Mosley’s post-war concept of Europe-a-Nation prove effective. for pro-loyalist extreme Right organisations during the Troubles a common allegiance to symbols of Britishness was offset not only the distinctiveness of regional interests but by the presence of Catholics among their leaders, while their failure to develop successfully as national movements in Britain meant they had little to offer Ulster loyalists. In focussing on Northern Ireland, this study provides insights, both into the strengths and weaknesses of British fascist organisations in the UK as a whole together with how difficult the region was for British organisations to cultivate; indeed, not just the extreme Right but mainstream parties as well.

Abstract:
The central purpose of the book is the critical exposition of the Hindu idea of the divine feminine, or Devī, conceived as a singularity expressed in many forms. With the theological principles examined in the opening chapters, the book proceeds to describe and expound historically how individual manifestations of Devī have been imagined in Hindu religious culture and their impact upon Hindu social life. In this quest the authors draw upon the history and philosophy of major Hindu ideologies, such as the Purāṇic, Tantric, and Vaiṣṇava belief systems. A particular feature of the book is its attention not only to the major goddesses from the earliest period of Hindu religious history but also—and especially—to goddesses of later origin, in many cases of regional provenance and influence. Viewed through the lenses of worship practices, legend, and literature, belief in goddesses is discovered as the formative impulse of much of public and private life. The influence of the goddess culture is especially powerful on women’s life, often paradoxically situating women between veneration and subjection. This apparent contradiction arises from the humanization of goddesses while acknowledging their divinity, which is central to Hindu beliefs. In addition to studying the social and theological aspect of the goddess ideology, the essays in this book take anthropological, sociological, and literary approaches to delineate the emotional force of the goddess figure that claims intense human attachments and shapes personal and communal lives.

A black hole is a region of space where the force of gravity is so strong that nothing, not even light, can travel fast enough to escape from its interior. ‘What is a black hole?’ outlines how they were first conceived by theoretical physicists such as John Michell, Henry Cavendish, Pierre-Simon Laplace, and Albert Einstein, and explains the concepts of singularity, escape velocity, the event horizon, and spacetime. Black holes have now been identified in the Universe in their hundreds and accounted for in their millions. Although invisible, these objects interact with and influence their surroundings in different ways depending on proximity relative to the black hole.

Abstract:
Chapter 3 focuses on the high-Reynolds number flow of an incompressible fluid near the trailing edge of a flat plate. It begins with Goldstein’s (1930) solution for a viscous wake behind the plate, and shows that the displacement effect of the wake produces a singular pressure gradient near the trailing edge. It further shows that this singularity leads to a formation triple-deck viscous-inviscid interaction region that occupies a small vicinity of the trailing edge. A detailed analysis of the flow in each tier of the triple-deck structure is conducted based on the asymptotic analysis of the Navier–Stokes equations. As a result, the so-called ‘interaction problem’ is formulated. It concludes with the numerical solution of so-called ‘interaction problem’.

This publication explores the presence of the shared heritage and interdependence of poetry composed around the theme of wine in diverse literary traditions of the Islamic world. The specialist contributions discuss multiple aspects of the literary polyphony of wine in the pre-modern Arabic, Persian, Hebrew, Ottoman Turkish, and Urdu literatures during the first millennium of the Islamic era. Presenting these together and in dialogue with one another, the volume offers a comparative perspective on a long, varied, but singularly mutual tradition. It traces how this poetry develops, flourishes and matures across linguistic and geographic, confessional and social, aesthetic and artistic boundaries within the regions of the religiously and culturally diverse Islamic world, from al-Andalūs to India.

Abstract:
This chapter explores the role of “power politics”—the domain of national security interests and the procurement and use of military power—in the decline of mass atrocities in East Asia. It suggests that power politics made an important, but not the singularly most important, contribution. The chapter has three parts. First, it explores how conventional power politics contributed to the decline of mass atrocities in East Asia. Although not central to the overall story, once they were established, the balance of power and both conventional and nuclear deterrence played a role in limiting the further escalation of potential conflicts. Second, it examines the limits of power politics. Third, it points to specific security practices that were more consequential, including the development of omnidirectional security relations, a tendency to avoid destabilizing competition, de-polarization, and the enmeshing of great powers in the region’s norms

Abstract:
Abstract While mediation efforts cannot lead to holistic societal transformations overnight, this chapter argues that the Southern African Development Community (SADC) has singularly failed to lay the groundwork for such transformations in its region. In reviewing the cases of SADC mediation and involvement in Lesotho, Madagascar, and Zimbabwe, the chapter probes why the organization has been unable to fulfill its long-term agenda for sustainable peace. To improve its prospects, SADC should seek to support long-term solutions which hinge both on the demilitarization of politics and investment in effective institutions of participation and development. The chapter uses as its departure point the systemic conflict transformation (SCT) framework to explain how SADC might achieve what is referred to in academic literature as “positive peace.”

Abstract:
The ultra-peripheral Portuguese region of Azores is considered one of the EU outermost regions. This insular region is widely recognized as a sustainable nature-based destination. Its remoteness and breathtaking landscape attributed the region a label of adventure tourism by global references as Bloomberg, Departures, BBC, Forbes, GeekyExplorer, Lonely Planet, among others. In this regard, this type of tourism incorporated with the digital marketing generated around it is seen as a vital channel for inspiring sustainable regional development. Consequently, it is possible to verify that the digital marketing created around this new typology of tourism along with the Azores' singularity as a destination could significantly influence the local socio-economy base to the sustained development growth of the region. Furthermore, it was identified that the most reasonable opportunities for slow and nature-based tourism were located in rural tourism.

Abstract:
The Mediterranean-type environment of South America, broadly defined as the continental area characterized by winter rainfall and summer drought, is confined to a narrow band about 1,000 km long on the western side of the Andes in north-central Chile (Arroyo et al., 1995, 1999). Although much has been written about the climate, vegetation, and landscapes of this part of Chile, and comparisons have been drawn with California and other Mediterranean-type regions of the world (Parsons, 1976; Mooney, 1977; Rundel, 1981; Arroyo et al., 1995), a modern synthesis of information on the physical setting, regional biota, and historical development of ecosystems in central Chile has not been attempted. This chapter is intended to provide such an integrated picture, emphasizing those aspects most peculiar to the region. Since the earlier floristic work on the Chilean matorral (e.g. Mooney, 1977), the name given to the vegetation of central Chile, there is now a much greater appreciation of the geographic isolation and high levels of biological diversity and endemism in this region of South America (Arroyo and Cavieres, 1997; Villagrán, 1995; Arroyo et al., 1995, 1999). Because of the great richness and singularity of its terrestrial flora, this area of the continent is considered to be one of the world’s 25 hotspots in which to conserve global biodiversity (Arroyo et al., 1999; Myers et al., 2000). An analysis of the main features of the Mediterranean environment in South America should therefore address the causes of such high floristic richness, the nature of current threats to biodiversity, and the prospects for its conservation in the long-term. A discussion of conservation concerns closes the present chapter (but see also: Arroyo and Cavieres, 1997; and Arroyo et al., 1999). In view of the vast literature on the biota and physical setting of central Chile, this chapter adopts a selective approach, from a biogeographic perspective, of what we consider to be the most remarkable historical, physical, and ecological features of this environment, which in turn may explain its extraordinary richness in plants and animals. Mediterranean-type ecosystems occupy a narrow band along the western margin of South America, from 30 to 36°S in central Chile.

Abstract:
Abstract Chapter 17 looks at non-rotating black holes. The exterior solution is the Schwarzschild metric. However, in the original Schwarzschild coordinates, it appears to have a singularity at the surface. It turns out that this is not a physical singularity but only a coordinate singularity and it is possible to introduce new coordinates, the so-called Eddington–Finkelstein coordinates, in which the metric is regular at this surface and which allow one to extend the metric for all positive values of the radial parameter r. However, a scalar invariant constructed from contracting the curvature with itself diverges as r tends to 0, which shows that there is a genuine curvature singularity there. Space-time diagrams and spatial diagrams are used to discuss the singularity structure and lead to the location of the ‘event horizon’, which has the property that any signal emitted inside this radius cannot escape to the exterior region.

Abstract:
In summarising the findings of this study a number of points can be made. First, as a region of the United Kingdom Ulster/Northern Ireland stands out for the singularity of its history and characteristics. While for other regions of the British State the issue of nationality only arose in very singular circumstances such as those created by a world war, in Ulster the divided national identities of its people and the constitutional claims of Irish Governments meant that issues of nationality were a perennial concern, rendering the usual bread and butter issues common to British politics to a secondary position. Similarly, fears of communist subversion such as stimulated extreme right agitation in Britain for much of this period, was a very marginal issue in Northern Ireland. Accordingly, despite commitment to common symbols of Britishness the singularity of its concerns had created a political environment which left very little space for new entrants to occupy, despite, latterly, a growing race problem. The extreme Right’s effective target community was the Protestant and loyalist people, but only if it had become a major force in British politics would it have had some leverage in Northern Ireland.

Abstract:
Factors that facilitate successful entrepreneurship range from cultural, educational, financial, environmental, technological factors to other macro and micro-economic factors. Scholars, for instance, report that continuance of entrepreneurship for lengthy periods may be an indicator of a culture of entrepreneurship amongst the residents of a given population, which could be significant in the development of the regional economy. The question is, do these factors each singularly or combinatorically result in entrepreneurial success? Since institutional support could foster the successes and failures of enterprises, entrepreneurial self-efficacy, which defines an individual's belief in their ability to achieve success in entrepreneurship, is joined in the investigation presented in this chapter. The chapter explores both factors as possible recipes for entrepreneurial success in Sub-Saharan Africa. The implications of the chapter for successful entrepreneurship literature are defined.

Abstract:
From the viewpoint of kinematics, a three-dof H-type pure translational parallel manipulator is presented for the development of automatic assembly devices and a regional structure of a six-dof hybrid parallel platform. First, we describe the structural properties of manipulator and analyze its kinematic mobility. A pure translational motion is verified to exist through the well-known D-H symbolic notations and the coordinate transformation technique. What follows are the forward and inverse kinematic analysis and their analytical closed-form solutions by the matrix algebra approach. For further confirmation of the derived equations, some numerical examples are also given. Moreover, with the help of the analytical displacement kinematics, we identify the volume of workspace. At last, taking account of the overall Jacobian matrix provides the condition number and the identification of singularity of configuration is explored based on the direct and inverse kinematics Jacobian matrix.

Abstract:
From the viewpoint of kinematics, a type of 3 degrees of freedom (dofs) UPS/3RPaPaR overconstrained parallel mechanism (Pa means the hinged 4R parallelogram) with pure translational motion is presented for the development of automatic assembly devices or as a regional structure in the hybrid parallel platform. In the beginning, the formation & mobility are elucidated and the 4×4 transformation matrix & the D-H notation with specific geometric constraints verify the pure translational motion. The forward and inverse kinematic analyses are then established in the analytical closed-form through the matrix method. Besides, we take a numerical illustration for the confirmation of correctness of the derived equations. The determination of workspace is also attained by the intersection of volumes swept by each limb. In addition, the Jacobian matrix and its condition number indicated by Euclidean norm as a function of design parameters are further achieved. Finally, the singularity analysis of the configuration based on the direct and inverse kinematic J-matrix during the movement is identified in detail.

Abstract:
A quadratic parallel manipulator refers to a parallel manipulator with a quadratic characteristic polynomial. This paper revisits the forward displacement analysis (FDA) of a quadratic parallel manipulator: 3-RPR planar parallel manipulator with similar triangular platforms. Although it has been revealed numerically elsewhere that for this parallel manipulator, the four solutions to the FDA fall, respectively, into its four singularity-free regions (in its workspace), it is unclear if there exists a one-to-one correspondence between the four formulas, each producing one solution to the FDA, and the four singularity-free regions. This paper will prove that such a one-to-one correspondence exists. Therefore, a unique solution to the FDA can be obtained in a straightforward way for such a parallel manipulator if the singularity-free region in which it works is specified.

Abstract:
An important difficulty in the design of parallel manipulators is their reduced practical workspace, due mainly to the existence of a complex singularity locus within the workspace. The workspace is divided into singularity-free regions according to assembly modes and working modes, and the dimensioning of parallel manipulators aims at the maximization of those regions. It is a common practice to restrict the manipulator’s motion to a specific singularity-free region. However, a suitable motion planning can enlarge the operational workspace by means of transitions of working mode and/or assembly mode. In this paper, the authors present an analytical procedure for obtaining the loci of cusp points of a parallel manipulator as algebraic expressions of its dimensional parameters. The purpose is to find an optimal design for non-singular transitions to be possible.

Abstract:
Abstract A uniqueness domain is a part of the Cartesian workspace corresponding to the same assembly mode of the 3-RPR (planar parallel) manipulator. This paper presents an efficient method to determine the uniqueness domains of the 3-RPR manipulators with similar platforms. The method is based on the singularity and forward displacement analysis (FDA) of the 3-RPR manipulator with similar platforms. The singularity analysis and the FDA of the 3-RPR manipulator with similar platforms is first performed. It is then proved that each of the solutions distributes into different singularity-free regions of the manipulator. Each singularity-free region corresponds to one uniqueness domain of the 3-RPR manipulator with similar platforms which can thus be determined in a direct way. At last, it is proved that the four solutions in analytic expression form to the forward displacement analysis correspond to different uniqueness domains for the 3-RPR manipulator with similar aligned platforms. This simplifies further the FDA in this case as the unique solution to the FDA can be found without the need to compute all the four solutions as long as the singularity-free region in which the manipulator works is given.
