Abstract:
The monograph is devoted to the problems of increasing the capitalization of the economic space of the country and its regions. The characteristics of the multilevel economic space of the country at different levels of its system organization (economic-organizational, economic-regional, structural levels, including the level of territorial economic and technological structures) are given. The potential of deploying the concept of "economic and geographical location of a city (region)" as an intangible asset is shown. The directions of increasing the capitalization of the country and its regions are proposed, including the use of capitalization itself as a resource for further socio-economic progress of the country in the post-crisis period. For a wide range of readers interested in economic issues. It can be useful for students, postgraduates and teachers of economic universities.

Nagimova, Al'mira. ISLAMIC FINANCE IN THE CIS COUNTRIES. xxu: Academus Publishing, 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.31519/0021-8.

Full text
Abstract:
Over the past decades, Islamic Finance has expanded its presence to many countries, including the former Soviet Union. It is not surprising that its expansion has become a subject of great interest to scholars, politicians, practitioners, and the general public. How big is the market for Islamic Finance in the post-Soviet region? Who are the key market players? What are their investment strategies on this territory? Finally, what are the limits for the development of the Islamic Finance industry in the CIS countries? This book attempts to find the answers to these questions by examining a broad empirical base of more than 1,000 deals from 1991 to 2020, as well as using a sociological approach. Another attempt has been made to assess the total volume of Islamic capital and determine the problems and prospects of this market in the CIS countries. The book will be of interest to the management of banks, investment companies, funds, ministries, as well as anyone interested in the world economy, international relations and the religious factor in the economy of post-Soviet countries.

Bengtsson, Rikard. Sweden and the Baltic Sea Region. Edited by Jon Pierre. Oxford University Press, 2016. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/oxfordhb/9780199665679.013.27.

Full text
Abstract:
Swedish policy towards the Baltic Sea region in the post-Cold-War period reflects an internationalist approach aimed at institutionalizing regional cooperative mechanisms, along with a generic interest in managing relations with Russia. The Baltic region is of significant strategic interest to Sweden. From a strategic foreign policy perspective, the institutions-based approach to regional cooperation can be viewed as a formula for Sweden to multilateralize relations with Russia while simultaneously reaping economic and security benefits that stem from regional and European-level interdependencies. The roles that follow from this approach—as regional integrator and as normative critic of Russia—are increasingly enacted through European channels, primarily the EU.

Abstract:
The monograph was prepared within a project of the Vernadsky-Kuzbass Scientific and Educational Consortium. It presents a comprehensive study of the 2010–2018 education system of Kuzbass carried out by the Center for Education Development Strategy at M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University. The study compared the education systems in Kuzbass and other regions of Russia, drawing on related statistical data and reference materials. It also involved sociological surveys to identify the attitude of educators at three levels – general secondary, secondary vocational and tertiary – to the development of the regional education system. The authors’ conclusions and recommendations became a basis for the Strategy of Education Development in Kuzbass. The book is addressed to professionals working in education, management and sociology of education, as well as those with a general interest in the problems and trends of modern education.

Full text
Abstract:
The Inughuit of northwestern Greenland are the most northerly indigenous people in the world. They have long been of interest to scholars and the general public due to their evident isolation when first contacted by Europeans in 1818, their loss of key hunting technologies such as kayaks and bows and arrows before contact, their extensive use of meteoric iron, and their important role in exploration of the far north. This chapter summarizes the archaeological record from the thirteenth century, when Thule migrants first arrived in the region, through the historic period. The key period of emerging Inughuit culture, between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries, has left few archaeological remains. Work by the Inglefield Land Archaeology Project and studies in ethnohistory and paleoclimatology suggest that many factors, including epidemics and environmental changes associated with the Little Ice Age, led to the distinctive Inughuit culture described by explorers in the nineteenth century.
