The optimization of process parameters in the pharmaceutical industry is often carried out according to the Quality by Design (QbD) concept. QbD also emphasizes that continuous improvement should be performed in life cycle management. Process parameters that are difficult to control in actual production can be regarded as noise parameters. In this study, based on the QbD concept, the ethanol precipitation process of Carthami Flos extract was optimized, considering a noise parameter. The study of foods has been an interesting subject since the history of mankind, be it intentionally or unintentionally. The way humans evolved has a lot to do with what and how humans consumed the food over the course of time. It all began when the early humans discovered fire and used it as a means to cook the raw food which eventually resulted in tastier foods. Overtime, humans became smarter and their fascination with science led them to discover the unknown and unseen principles of nature that surrounds us all. From an energy perspective, refrigeration systems employ a wasteful process; nevertheless, the food industry depends on refrigeration systems. To improve the efficiency of this process, a refrigeration system can be combined with a heating system, by using the waste heat from the condenser of the refrigeration system in the heating system. A case study of the application of a waste heat recovery system is considered in this paper. The conserved energy for three years is calculated, based on the literature, i.e. practical engineering articles. The numbers given are compared with the case study.

Credit risk modelling has become increasingly important to banks since the advent of Basel 11 which allows banks with sophisticated modelling techniques to use internal models for the purpose of calculating capital requirements. Two models are developed as alternative explanations for the long-term trends observed in growth rates and their differences across firms. After the deregulation of the Swedish railway industry, train operating companies compete for and on the same infrastructure. This makes the allocation of rail capacity a most delicate problem, and for a well-functioning railway system the allocation must be fair, efficient and functional. The capacity allocation tasks include e.g. constructing the yearly timetable and making track allocation plans for rail yards. The state of practice is that experienced planners construct the schedules manually with little or no decision support. However, as the planners are often faced with large combinator

A strategic planning tool has been developed to help a firm in the North American newsprint industry decide whether to expand its capacity. This tool can also be used as an industry model, to forecast capacity decisions under various conditions. Key features of the model are the explicit consideration of the interdependence between firms and the recognition of the lumpiness of capacity expansion. Individual firms and groups of firms are modelled. All firms are assumed to determine their best capacity option taking into consideration the capacity decisions of other firms. Accurate yet interpretable prediction of Global Warming Potential (GWP) is essential for the sustainable design of chemical products and processes. However, existing studies that utilize molecular structure and physicochemical properties for GWP prediction often suffer from low interpretability, relying on black-box models that obscure the underlying relationships between molecular descriptors and environmental impact. The basic model is applicable to axial metal loss. The model is then modified to address issues associated with SCC.
