Abstract:
Using the cement paste fluidity experiment, this paper carried out a comprehensive research on the effect of the binary compound water reducer of polycarboxylate based water reducer (PC) and lignosulphate based water reducer (LS). The results show that for the use of single water reducer, the plasticizing ability of PC was much better than that of LS. In PC, the plasticizing ability of polyether type polycarboxylate based water reducer (POLYETHER) was slightly higher than that of polyester type polycarboxylate based water reducer (POLYESTER); in LS, sodium lignosulphate based water reducer (SLS) was slightly higher than calcium lignosulphate based water reducer (CLS). For the use of compound water reducer, the compounding effect of PC with LS was good, and the compounding proportion had a significant influence on the compounding effect, the more the proportion of PC in the compound water reducer, the better the compounding effect. Regarding the compounding effect, POLYESTER was significantly better than POLYETHER, SLS slightly better than CLS; To explore the working mechanism of the compound water reducer, the adsorption amount of each component water reducer in the binary compound water reducer on the cement particles surface was measured respectively. The results of adsorption amount show that for the use of single water reducer, the adsorption amount of CLS is greater than that of POLYETHER under the same conditions. The adsorption amount of CLS in the use of compound water reducer was less than that in the use of single water reducer, while the adsorption amount of POLYETHER in the use of compound water reducer was more than that in the use of single water reducer.

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science 232, no. 6 (March 22, 2017): 921–29. http://dx.doi.org/10.1177/0954406217700179.

Abstract:
As a precision gear reducer, the RV reducer has a low-transmission backlash (very high assembly accuracy). Therefore, the selective assembly method is the only assembly method which can guarantee the assembly precision of the RV reducer. However, the RV reducer has a complex structure; it consists of a high number of parts whose machining tolerance cannot be very low. Furthermore, there are numerous parts, the tolerances of which influence the RV reducer transmission backlash. Therefore, it is difficult to achieve high assembly accuracy by using the traditional selective assembly method. In this paper, a method of selective assembly is proposed to make the backlash of the RV reducer meet the requirements through the analysis of the characteristics of the RV reducer structure, the processing and assembly process of the parts, and the influence of manufacturing errors on the backlash. Then, a mathematical model was established for the RV reducer assembly issue. And a matching algorithm based on a genetic algorithm was developed. Finally, the algorithm was applied to the selective assembly of the RV reducer for verifying the feasibility and validity of the proposed matching method.

After expounding the characteristic and the weakness of three-ring speed reducer, this paper pointed out the principle of two-ring speed reducer. In two-ring speed reducer, the planetary gear with inner teeth is supported by three shafts, and rotary centers of three eccentric shafts are made to form an equilateral triangle in a plane. At any time, meshing points of two internal gear pairs in two-ring speed reducer are always located at two symmetric points of the output rotation centers, which makes the manufacturing and assembly of two-ring speed reducer are more simple and convenient than three-ring one. Then, the force model of two-ring speed reducer was established, and the simulation analysis was done in Matlab. Abstract:
The main reducer housing takes over the shaft loads from gear engagement and transmits to other components, such as differential, semiaxle and driving wheels, so the main reducer housing with enough strength and stiffness is very important. Some factors preventing it from failure need to be taken into consideration when design it. To design a main reducer housing with better performance, in this paper, FEA (Finite Element Analysis) is used to analysis the main reducer housing and to find out some big stress regions. Then, some modifications are proposed to eliminate those big stress regions and obtain a reliable main reducer housing. During the analysis process, an annulus model is built and the reaction forces between the differential bearing seats and axle housing are calculated to determine whether they contact with each other. Finally, some design methods and improvements of the original design main reducer housing are proposed. And numerical comparison results of the stress distribution of the original and improved main reducer housing validate the effectiveness of the proposed methods and modifications in this paper. Those stress analysis and modifications in this paper are time-saving and money-saving before mass production.

Abstract:
Many studies have focused on the drag reduction performance of slick-water, but the microdrag reduction mechanism remains unclear since the microstructure of the drag reducer and its effect on this mechanism have not been well studied. In this study, the microstructure of the drag reducer in slick-water was effectively characterized by transmission electron microscopy. The viscoelasticity and drag reduction performance of the drag reducer with different microstructures were then investigated. Further, the effects of the microstructure of the drag reducer on the viscoelasticity and drag reduction performance of slick-water were analyzed. The results demonstrated that the viscoelasticity of slick-water is governed by the microstructure of the drag reducer, which exhibits a network structure. In addition, the drag reduction performance is related to the viscoelasticity. At low flow rates, the drag reduction performance is dominantly influenced by viscosity, whereas, at high flow rates, it is governed mainly by elasticity. Furthermore, the drag reducer with a uniformly distributed network structure exhibits the most stable drag reduction performance. This drag reducer was used in a field test and the obtained results were consistent with those of a laboratory experiment.

The experiment results are as follows: SM water reducer has little effect on setting time of desulfurization gypsum, although it is helpful to increase the strength of the gypsum-sample, however, compared with HC and NF, it has no obvious effect. About HC water reducer, it has obvious effect on setting time of desulfurization gypsum, so does it to desulfurization gypsum strength, but, higher water using of normal consistency will do adverse effect on the whole with the increase of the dosage. NF water reducer has the similar effect on setting time and sample's strength on desulfurization gypsum with HC, but the dominant changes have no discipline among different mixing amounts with these two water reducer. Lower water using of normal consistency benefits the retention of the sample's strengths.

Abstract:
SUMMARYThe dynamic modeling of a flexible single-link manipulator arm with consideration of backlash in the planetary gear reducer at the joint is presented, and the influence of backlash on the dynamic response of the system is evaluated. A 2K-H planetary gear reducer with backlash was employed as an example to discuss the dynamic modeling of the sub-model of the planetary gear reducer, and the sub-model of the planetary gear reducer was established based on the lumped mass method. The flexible manipulator was regarded as an Euler--Bernoulli beam, and the dynamic model of the flexible manipulator arm with backlash in the planetary gear reducer was determined from Lagrange's equations. Based on the this model, the influence of the backlash in the planetary gear reducer and excitation frequency on the dynamic response of the system were evaluated through simulation, and the results showed that the dynamic response of the system is sensitive to the backlash and the excitation frequency simultaneously, which provides a theoretical foundation for improvement of dynamic modeling and control of the flexible manipulator arm.

Based on the study of the principles and characteristics of the swing movable teeth transmission, this study established the virtual prototype and achieved the dynamical simulation of the reducer by CAD/CAE software. The rotate speed and force analysis proved the feasibility of the model.

A negative regulatory element has been found within a member of the African green monkey Alu family of interspersed repeated sequences. This "reducer" element decreased transcription in both directions from a cellular simian virus 40-like bidirectional promoter independently of both orientation and position. The reducer was not promoter specific since it also decreased expression from the simian virus 40 early and human beta-globin promoters. In addition, the reducer decreased transcription from a polymerase III promoter. The reducer was contained in 38 base pairs of an Alu family member and interacted specifically with a monkey cell nuclear protein.

By carrying on the stress and transform analysis of the box of a kind of main reducer which was self— designed and manufactured for vehicles, by ROMAX modeling get accurate bearing load and conducting ANSYS finite element analysis. it is shown that structure design of the main reducer box is very important for the intension capability of the box, and for the transmission functions of the main reducer. The hidden trouble of the main reducer transmission due to the designers was solved, which couldn’t estimate the transform of main reducer box by traditional design method, and provided the necessary basis for further optimizing and ameliorating the whole transfer case system. By using the UG software we constructed a complicated model of the box, and carried on a series of accurate intension and fatigued analyses for the model by using ANSYS software.

Full text
Abstract:
The paper deals with the Bamboo Garden Trimming (BGT) problem introduced in [Gąsieniec et al., SOFSEM’17]. The problem is difficult to solved due to its close relationship to Pinwheel scheduling. The garden with n bamboos is an analogue of a system of n machines that have to be attended (e.g., serviced) with different frequencies. During each day, bamboo b i grows an extra height h i , for i = 1 , ⋯ , n and, on the conclusion of the day, at most one bamboo has its entire height cut.The goal is to design a perpetual schedule of cuts to keep the height of the tallest ever bamboo as low as possible. The contribution in this paper is twofold, and is both theoretical and experimental. In particular, the focus is on understanding what has been called priority schedulings, i.e., cutting strategies where priority is given to bamboos whose current height is above a threshold greater than or equal to H = ∑ i = 1 n h i . Value H represents the total daily growth of the system and it is known that one cannot keep bamboos in the garden below this threshold indefinitely. As the first result, it is proved that, for any distribution of integer growth rates h 1 , ⋯ , h n and any priority scheduling, the system stabilises in a fixed cycle of cuts. Then, the focus is on the so-called ReduceMax strategy, a greedy priority scheduling that each day cuts the tallest bamboo, regardless of the growth rates distribution. ReduceMax is known to provide a O ( log n ) -approximation, with respect to the lower bound H. One of the main results achieved is that, if ReduceMax stabilises in a round-robin type cycle, then it guarantees 2-approximation. Furthermore, preliminary results are provided relating the structure of the input instance, in terms of growth rates, and the behavior of ReduceMax when applied to such inputs. Finally, a conjecture that ReduceMax is 2-approximating for the BGT problem is claimed, hence an extended experimental evaluation was conducted to support the conjecture and to compare ReduceMax with other relevant scheduling algorithms. The obtained results show that ReduceMax : (i) provides 2-approximation in all considered inputs; and (ii) always outperforms other considered strategies, even those for which better worst case approximation guarantees have been proven.

Abstract:
An elastic transmission error (TE) compensation method for a rotary vector (RV) speed reducer is proposed to improve its transmission accuracy based on error sensitivity analysis. Elastic and geometric TEs of the RV speed reducer can be compensated by tooth surface modification of cycloidal gears. Error coefficients of the TE of the RV speed reducer are derived to determine error factors with positive effects on TEs based on error sensitivity analysis. A total TE, including the elastic TE, is obtained by using Adams. The elastic TE compensation method is developed to calculate modification values of error factors with positive effects on the TE to decrease the elastic TE of the RV speed reducer. TE simulation results show that the elastic TE accounts for 25.28% of the total TE, and calculation results show that the maximum contact force and normal deformation of the modified prototype are obviously improved. The feasibility and accuracy of the proposed elastic TE compensation method for RV speed reducers were verified by TE experiments. TE experiment results showed that the TE of the modified RV speed reducer is 47.22% less than that of the initial RV speed reducer.

Abstract:
To comprehensively analyze the modal characteristics of the planetary reducer with small tooth number difference, based on shaft–bearing–gear–shell coupling, a finite element modal analysis model was established in ABAQUS. The teeth meshing sites were constrained by binding, bearings were simulated by spring elements, and then the natural frequencies and corresponding vibration modes of the reducer were obtained by applying the Lanczos method. Further, a hammering modal experiment on the reducer was carried out utilizing LMS Test.Lab. The modal data were analyzed using a modal identification method, and the modal frequencies and damping ratios were achieved, also the experimental modal parameters were validated according to the modal assurance criterion. The research results indicate that the lowest-order natural frequency of the reducer is 148.53 Hz, which is much higher than the rotation frequency of the eccentric shaft, double gear, and output gear. Also, the two-stage gear mesh frequencies are away from the natural frequencies, therefore the reducer under normal operating conditions will not cause coupling resonance. This research provides a theoretical basis and experimental reference for the dynamic structure optimization of the planetary reducer.

Abstract:
Abstract. Gear reducers are critical for speed and torque transmissions between motors and manipulators. With the development of robotic research, many new requirements, such as low speed and heavy load, have been proposed for the design of gear reducers used in the joints. To meet these challenges, here, we present the design of a new gear reducer based on a spherical motion sub-lever drive mechanism. Our lever-based gear reducer can transmit the speed and torque from the input shaft to the output shaft through a fixed-axis gear train transmission, lever transmission, and internal translational gear transmission. Compared with traditional gear reducers, our lever-based reducer has stronger load capacities and is suitable for low-speed and heavy-load scenarios. The design parameters of the lever drive mechanism were optimized via finite element analysis and a genetic algorithm, and the assembly of the lever drive mechanism was further simplified. We found the dimensions of the lever are critical for improving the overall performance of this reducer. In addition, the transmission ability of this reducer was demonstrated by a physical prototype. This reducer will find many applications in robotic joints, cranes, and mine hoists.

Electric steering engine was generally applied in arm systems such as carrier rocket and missile, its life period is very short, and the space and weight of its reducer were strictly restricted, so it is not fit to adopt the conventional rule of infinite life to design electric steering engine gear reducer. This paper carried out the optimum design for it based on the rule of finite life and space, provided and demonstrated a new design scheme, and realized the interior overall structure design of reducer. We used the UG plane to realize three-dimension module design and virtual assembly of gear reducer, elaborated the implementation method of three-dimension motion simulation by the parameter drive mechanism, and simulated the actual working procedure. Experimental results indicated that this gear reducer satisfied excellently the requirement of big drive ratio under the finite life and space.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of growth reducer and nitrogen fertilization on morphological variables, SPAD index, radiation interception, and grain yield of three cultivars of wheat. The experimental design was a randomized block in factorial scheme 3x5x2, with three cultivars (Mestre, Iguaçú and Itaipú), five nitrogen doses (0, 40, 80, 120, 160 Kg ha-1), and application or no application of a growth reducer, with three replications. The following characteristics were evaluated: plant height, SPAD index, leaf area index (LAI), Global Radiation Interception (GRI) and grain yield. The Tukey test (p < 0.05) was used for the comparison between the means of cultivar and growth reducer factors, and for a regression analysis to evaluate N levels. Increasing the dose of nitrogen promotes an increase in LAI of plants of wheat crops differently among cultivars, which leads to a greater degree of global radiation interception. At doses higher or equal to 120 Kg ha-1 of nitrogen, there are significant differences in grain yield between treatments with and without the application of the growth reducer. The significant interaction between growth reducer and nitrogen dose, showed that applications of growth reducer increase the GRI at doses above and below 80 Kg ha-1 of nitrogen. Nitrogen rates of 138 and 109 Kg ha-1 are responsible for maximum grain yields of wheat, which is 4235 and 3787 Kg ha-1 with and without the use of growth reducer, respectively.
